Augmented reality technology (AR) is strengthening its position in our daily lives every year. The main goal of augmented reality technology is to digitize the world around us by adding additional information that is relevant and attractive to the consumer in a particular sector. Gadget stores are adding more and more fun and useful PR programs, while big companies and startups are coming up with new ideas on how to effectively apply augmented reality technology to business processes. Education is one of the areas where the application of PR technology is receiving increasing attention and funding. It is also anticipated that the penetration of this technology into education will only increase and the PR education industry will expand. The aim of this article is to analyze the impact of PR technology on the participants of the educational process and to form an application model in Lithuanian general education schools. The article examines the possibilities of applying augmented reality technology in the education sector, distinguishing the level of basic schools. The impact on the educational process and its participants is also analyzed and evaluated. Several research methods are used and combined in the work – the analysis of scientific literature is combined with classroom research to find out the already applied PR models at different levels of the education sector and the questionnaire survey method to assess the situation of PR technology use in Lithuanian basic schools. The results revealed that augmented reality technology is still poorly applied in Lithuania in the educational process, mostly due to human and financial resources. The analysis presented in the article can be useful for educational institutions wishing to implement smart technologies, which are also designed for an innovative teaching process. Cultural understanding is a basis for competence-oriented general education. Teachers are responsible for applied content and methods that are used to purposefully lead school students to that result. The aim of this study is to identify actual goals for the development of teacher education curriculum, professional development, and teaching aids by investigating in-service teachers’ challenges in the successful promotion of students’ cultural understanding in general schools. The readiness of teachers to promote the cultural understanding of primary school students was explored in a mixed-methods study. The findings indicated aspects that teachers consider relevant as well as the main problems and gaps between theoretical principles recognised as essential by educational policy, and teachers’ beliefs and practices.

In the second half of the last century, the issue of canon became relevant, especially in the fields of culture and education. The society of the developed countries has become concerned with the deteriorating achievements of students. Education specialists have started talking about the growing generation which is going to be less educated as compared with their parents. A critical look has been taken at the liberal education programmes. The need for certain underlying values, humanistic ideas, fundamental research theories to be relied on by the education of the young generation has been resumed. The article analyses a discourse of the concept of canon in humanitarian and education sciences. A correlation between the concepts of tradition, classics and canon are discussed. Subject to the researches of musicologists, a didactic model of the structure of canon is composed. A spatial hierarchy of canon in teaching geography is presented. A critical look is taken at inter- and trans-disciplinary integration of subjects (trans-disciplinary axiology) which is facing serious ontological, gnoseological and social issues. 10. Evaluation of effectiveness of psychoactive substance abuse prevention program 'My Way': transformations in the 9th-12th grades pupils’ perceptions about psychoactive substance use

Purpose – The purpose of the article is to describe the transformations in the perceptions of the consequences of the use of psychoactive substances between 9-12’th grades pupils in the context of the implementation of the psychoactive substances abuse prevention program “My Way”. Research methodology – the authors performed a quasi-experiment and according to the methodological requirements related to the use of such scientific method in the educology studies, used an unequal control group and the primary/initial (pre-test) as well as final (post-test) measurements to achieve the aim of the research/article. Findings – the data of the quasi-experiment research showed that as the whole after intervention the pupil’s perceptions about the use of psychoactive substances in the experimental group has changed; the pupils who were assigned to the control group assessed the effects of the use of psychoactive substances better than those who were assigned to the control group. Research limitations – during the implementation of the program and the experiment, the activities related to the quasi-experiment were held only by social pedagogues in certain selected schools and classes (considering various factors such as the behaviour of children or their attributability to the families at social risk). Accordingly, in the next similar studies, children can be sampled evenly, without differentiating them based on their behavioural problems. Practical implications – the results of the research could be used in practice in the following ways: (i) by motivating the schools of general education in the Republic of Lithuania to choose prevention programs as the purposeful and meaningful instrument to develop healthy life skills; (ii) to develop and expand the range of new prevention programs based on the experience of the program “My Way” which is presented and evaluated in this article. Originality/Value – there are no similar previous educological and other educational science studies (in Lithuania) how the pupils’ attitudes change during the pre-planned and systematically implemented preventive activities in general education schools; the article presents and outlines the experience and practice of the first such Lithuanian program for the prevention of psychoactive substance abuse (“My Way”).

- Abstract
School is the primary and main institution that contributes to the foundations of the whole country's education system and is the key to our nation's survival. Following this statement, in this article the network of general education schools is regarded as one of the main factors' influencing spatial and social exclusion. We state that the school is considered as one of the most important institutions' that ensures the viability of the entire local community. The purpose of this study is to determine the trends of the change in the network of general education schools in Lithuania's problem regions during the period 2001-2016, and to assess their impact on the growing social and spatial exclusion which directly relates to the quality of life. Twenty-two sparsely populated municipalities (SPM) have been selected as the subject of the research. These are the municipalities where the rural population density at the beginning of the 2017 did not exceed 12.5 inhabitants per square kilometer. It was used the data of Lithuania Statistics and AIKOS for the analysis. Also, several years of our expeditions to sparsely populated areas, and communication with school leaders and employees, local community representatives have helped us to make some conclusions about the significance of the schools for local communities. We end up the article with the presentation of generalized research results reflecting the trends of the school network's decline. Also, we present the possible impact on the increase of spatial and social exclusion in problematic regions of Lithuania. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In recent years the education system, renewed at all levels, from pre-school education to higher education, has undergone many important changes. Implementing education reforms, the situation has also changed in a general education sector. Each year expectations for educational institutions and requirements for their heads have been increasing. Nowadays the activities and requirements for the heads of educational institutions have fundamentally changed. The heads act following standards for their activities. At the institutional segment, the assessment of heads’ activities is relevant since it is aimed at developing their activities as heads-leaders, improving the organisation’s performance and the efficiency of learning programmes, developing and managing human resources, promoting the organisation’s image, improving students’ achievement results.

Straipsnio siekis – istorijos mokymo(si) tikslų nūdienos Lietuvos bendrojo ugdymo mokykloje analizė teorinėje didaktikoje plėtojamų idėjų kontekstuose. Remiantis užsienio autorių literatūra, nūnai galiojančiomis Lietuvos istorijos ugdymo programomis bei viešomis diskusijomis, skirtomis istorijos mokymo Lietuvos bendrojo ugdymo mokykloje problemai, straipsnyje siekiama atsakyti į šiuos klausimus: kokie istorijos mokymo tikslai ar kryptys iš viso gali būti legitimūs XX–XXI amžių sandūros visuomenėse ir kodėl? kaip istorijos mokymo(si) tikslai apibrėžiami Lietuvos istorijos ugdymo programose? kokie istorijos mokymo(si) tikslai iškyla Lietuvos švietimo politiką formuojančių ar jai neabejingų asmenų viešose diskusijose ir kokios šių tikslų preferencijos priežastys? kaip Lietuvoje apibrėžiami ar siūlomi istorijos mokymo(si) tikslai vertintini teorinėje didaktikoje plėtojamų idėjų perspektyvoje? Šis bandomasis tyrimas siekia: 1) istorijos didaktikos problemas sugrąžinti į nūdienos Lietuvos istorikų tyrimų darbotvarkę; 2) konceptualizuoti vieną esminių istorijos mokymo(si) problemų; 3) prisidėti prie istorijos ugdymo programų tobulinimo. The goal of this article is to analyze the aims of history teaching (learning) in today’s Lithuanian general education schools in the contexts of ideas that are developed in theoretical didactics. The article, in accordance with foreign literature, the existing Lithuanian history education programs and public debates concerning the problem of the teaching of history in Lithuanian secondary schools, tries to answer the following questions: What history teaching aims or orientations in general can be legitimate in societies at the junction of the 20th–21th centuries and why? How history teaching (learning) aims are defined in Lithuanian history education programs? Which of the history education (learning) aims are visible in the public debate of people who are not indifferent and who develop Lithuanian education policy and what are the exact reasons that cause the preference of these aims? How should the history teaching (learning) aims in Lithuania be valued in the perspective of ideas that are developed in theorethical didactics? The article begins with the classification of sources for aims (and the explication their legitimacy reasons) according to German history didactics specialist Joachim Rohlfes and Canadian researcher Peter Seixas. The second chapter focuses on J. Rohlfes’s classification in order to ephasize the problem of recognition of sources for Lithuanian history teaching (learning) aims (which are cited in the programs of history education), their inter-compatibility and implementation. The third chapter mainly focuses on Mr. Seixas’s concept concerning the identification of “gravity” directions in public debate and the implementation of the ideas in order to achieve the more diverse evaluation of the problems. The conclusions present research results and the remarks by the author of this article concerning the formation of the aims of history teaching (learning) in Lithuanian general education schools.

Straipsnyje aptariami organizaciniai mokytojų kvalifikacijos tobulinimo aspektai. Analizė remiama 2014 m. atlikto tyrimo rezultatais. Apklausta 683 respondentai, dirbę 218 šalies bendrojo ugdymo mokyklų. Daroma išvada, kad daugumai Lietuvos bendrojo ugdymo mokyklų mokytojų per kvalifikacijos tobulinimo renginius mažiau svarbus pats kompetencijų tobulinimas, o labiau – kitos aplinkybės, pavyzdžiui, galimybė pateikti dokumentus apie dalyvavimą kvalifikacijos tobulinimo renginiuose, siekiant aukštesnės kvalifikacinės kategorijos. The analysis presented within this article is based on results of a study carried out in 2014. A total of 683 teachers from 218 different general education schools were questioned. The respondents were asked about the last professional development event they had attended: its form, duration, location, participation fees funding source, etc. Also, respondents were asked if the event they had mentioned before was useful. That is how it was known that, according to the respondents, the least useful were traditional professional development events (primarily the seminars); also, of minor use were deemed events that were held for 6 academic hours or less. The survey shows that when the same respondents were asked what professional development events would be the most suitable for them, the majority indicated seminars and events with a duration of 6 academic hours or less – the types of events that teachers pointed out to be the least useful professional development events. The same answers were collected from the respondents, who attended more useful professional development events themselves. At the same time, the results demonstrated that school administration delegates and teachers sufficiently enough register professional development facts and gather confirmative documents of the professional development. Confirmative documents of the professional development are necessary, for example, if the teacher wants to get a higher qualification category. It could be said that for the bigger part of Lithuanian teachers, the obligatory professional development according to the Law of Education has become not an opportunity to improve their specific abilities and to educate more qualitatively during the lesson, but, unfortunately, turned into some sort of a ritual, which permits one to acquire the participation certificate of the professional development event faster and using as little expenditure as possible.

Magistro baigiamajame darbe analizuojami bendrojo ugdymo mokyklų finansavimo teoriniai ir praktiniai aspektai. Teorinėje darbo dalyje aprašoma viešųjų paslaugų ir jų finansavimo esmė, bendrojo ugdymo mokyklų finansavimo principai, metodai, lėšų rūšys. Praktinėje darbo dalyje apžvelgta Lietuvos bendrojo ugdymo samprata bei mokyklų finansavimo modelis. Atliktas tyrimas, kuris atskleidė, kad mokinio krepšelis skaidrina švietimo sistemos finansavimą, skatina mokyklų konkurenciją, užtikrina kokybišką ir įvairiapusį mokinių ugdymą. Tyrimas atskleidė, kad mokinio krepšelio lėšų pakanka: pedagoginio personalo kvalifikacijos kėlimui, mokyklos bibliotekos darbuotojams išlaikyti, darbo užmokesčiui pagal ugdymo planą bei vadovėliams įsigyti. Lėšų trūksta mokymo priemonių įsigijimui bei informacinėms ir komunikacinėms technologijoms diegti ir naudoti., The Master's thesis analyses the theoretical and practical aspects of funding of schools of general education. The theoretical part describes the essence of public services and their financing, the principles and methods of funding of general education school. The practical part presents the concept of the general education school funding in Lithuania. The conducted research has revealed that the student’s basket leads to more transparent funding of the education system and ensures that education of students is more diverse and of better quality. The research has shown the student's basket are sufficient for the following purposes: to train the pedagogical staff, to maintain the staff of the school library, to distribute wages according to the education plan. There is a lack of funds necessary to purchase teaching aids and to implement and use information and communication technologies.

41. Inclusive education: the parents’ concerns and expectations

Straipsnyje atskleidžiamos mokinių tėvų nuostatos apie tai, kur turėtų ugdytis vaikai, turintys nežymių psichinių sutrikimų ir (ar) fizinę negalią. Sugretinus 2002 m. ir 2012 m. atliktų tyrimų duomenis, akivaizdu, kad, kintant ugdymo tikrovei, kito ir mokinių tėvų požiūris į integruotą ugdymą: buvęs vizija įtraukusis ugdymas tapo realybė. Didžioji dalis respondentų pritaria, kad neįgalūs vaikai lankytų bendrojo ugdymo mokyklą. Tiriamojo laikotarpio pradžioje (2002 m.) pusė respondentų teigė, kad vaikai su negalia galėtų mokytis bendrose klasėse, tai – natūralios integracijos modelis. Po dešimties metų pakartotas tyrimas atskleidė, kad mokinių tėvų nuostatos akivaizdžiai pakitę: 52 % respondentų nurodė, kad vaikams su negalia derėtų mokytis bendrojo ugdymo institucijose, bet atskirose klasėse. The article revealed the opinions of the pupils’ parents about where should their children’s peers with minor mental disorders and/or physical disabilities learn and develop. Based uponthe results of studies conducted in 2002 and 2012 it becomes clear that the changes of education reality had impact also to the parents’ of pupils approach to integrated education: former vision of inclusive education became a reality. Respondents agree that their children may attend general education school together with their disabled peers. At the beginning of the year 2002 half of the respondents said that children with disabilities may learn in common classes. This is the model of natural integration. The study repeated after ten years revealed that the opinionsof the parents apparently had changed: 52 percent of respondents indicated that children with disabilities should learn in separate classes.

42. Natural science and technology education: 'resetting' meaning and necessity

Natural science and technology education is an inseparable part of general education. It is obvious, that this process embraces a rather wide group of people, according to the age – from the birth till the completion of general education. It is a very important period, during which a certain natural science and technology education is acquired. It might seem that rather many scientific, methodical, didactic and other articles, books have been written, analyzing NSTE problems. On the other hand, NSTE process continues, (has to be continued) further on. Of course, speaking about university and other level studies, a further education is different both according to the size and length and the other parameters. Though natural science and technology education is reformed in Lithuania, however, the results are not very pleasing. An urgent task remains for the whole educational community, how to achieve that natural science and technology subjects were attractive to the pupils that they tried to relate their future career with natural sciences and technology. It is understandable, that only school is not capable to solve that complex task. The situation is determined by the country’s common political-economic and, of course, social situation. However, properly organised natural science and technology education in comprehensive school can significantly change the situation. So, I think, and I hope, that natural science and technology education professionals, researchers, teachers, practitioners not only perceive science and technology education "resetting" meaning and necessity, but also will stay in continuous search of rational methods in the field of education change and innovation.

Straipsnyje aptariamas įvairių mokymo priemonių naudojimas per mokomųjų dalykų pamokas bendrojo ugdymo mokykloje. Analizuoti 6 575 Nacionalinės mokyklų vertinimo agentūros išorės vertintojų parengti pamokos stebėjimo protokolai iš 98 įvairiose Lietuvos savivaldybėse veikiančių bendrojo ugdymo mokyklų. Pamokų stebėjimai vykdyti 2010-2011 mokslo metais, kai išorės vertintojai atliko planinį šių mokyklų išorės vertinimą. Pamokų stebėjimo protokolų analizė atlikta 2011 metais. Taip pat straipsnyje pateikiamas autoriaus parengtas ir analizei naudotas mokymo priemonių klasifikatorius. In the present study, 6575 lesson observation protocols from 98 general education schools located in various Lithuanian municipalities, prepared by the National School Evaluation Agency exterior assessors, have been analysed. The lesson observations were organized when exterior auditors were making an audit in these schools. Lesson observation protocol analysis was made in 2011. Also, the teaching aids classificator, prepared by the author and used for the analysis, is included in the article. It has been estimated that approximately in two thirds of the observed lessons general education teachers use some additional teaching aids besides a coursebook. Additional teaching aids are especially often used during the Information Technology (IT) and music lessons (almost always), as well as in teaching geography and biology. Most rarely additional teaching aids are used during mathematics and the Lithuanian mother tongue lessons. Teachers mostly use traditional visual aids (posters, maps, models, etc.) audiovisual teaching aids oriented towards general work (slides, films, etc.) and handouts prepared by themselves. Teachers, even without knowing that an exterior auditor might come to the lesson, usually use the teaching aids that are oriented towards individual pupils’ work. The analysis has also shown that teachers of experimental sciences even in “demonstrational“ lessons allocate too little time to show practical processes and instead are oriented towards the whole class and not to idividual work and use audiovisual, visual digital teaching aids (mostly slides).

44. Development of educational system in Lithuania after 1990: relevant issues and ways of solving them

Per 22 atgautos nepriklausomybės metus visiškai pasikeitus politinei ir ekonominei situacijai turėjo radikaliai keistis ir Lietuvos ugdymo sistema, reaguodama į šiuos minėtus pokyčius. Autorius, dalyvaudamas Lietuvos švietimo sistemos raidos scenarijų konkurse, išanalizavo, kas teigiamo pasiekta, o ką reikėtų keisti Lietuvos ugdymo sistemoje. Pirmiausia apžvelgtos problemos, egzistuojančios bendrojo lavinimo sektoriuje. Daug dėmesio skirta profesiniam rengimui (vidurinėje profesinėje ir aukštojoje mokykloje). Pareikšta nuomonė ir apie edukologijos mokslą. Nurodyti konkretūs visų problemų sprendimo būdai. Scenarijaus pagrindu ir parengtas šis straipsnis. During the last 22 years of independence, political and economic situation in Lithuania has changed. These changes faced the transformation of educational system in Lithuania. The author, famous Lithuanian pedagogue and scientist, participated in the competition for the best screen of the future Lithuanian education by analyzing positive and negative aspects and providing further prospects. This article is a résumé of that important work. First of all, A. P. Ažubalis overviewed the situation in the general education sector. In his opinion, education has to be compulsory till children finish progymnasium (i.e. till 14-15 years of age). During the next 1 or 2 years, part of children would be able to continue learning in professional schools by getting practical professional knowledge and skills. As the result, students in upper classes of a gymnasium would be able to achieve more theoretical knowledge and better results in learning for future studies at the higher education institutions. The main issues of professional education at professional schools and higher education schools in Lithuania were reviewed in this article too. The author is concerned that doubling the same specialties (especially the intellectual ones, such as management, law and educology) is not rational for the Lithuanian educational system. The issues of teachers’ professional qualification and theoretical issues of educology are addressed in this article. The author is very proud of the achievements of educology as a science and regrets over low application of theoretical knowledge in practical educational activities in Lithuania.

Remiantis jau atliktais IDKM įgyvendinimo Lietuvos bendrojo lavinimo mokyklose tyrimais, galima teigti, kad šio pasaulyje jau seniai taikomo ir gana populiaraus metodo diegimas Lietuvoje taip pat nėra pradinėje stadijoje, tačiau jį sklandžiai ir sistemingai diegti labiausiai kliudo teisiniai apribojimai, kokybiškos Lietuvos moksleiviams pritaikytos mokymo medžiagos ir kvalifikuotų IDKM mokytojų stoka. Dėl pastarosios priežasties IDKM pamoką dažnai veda du mokytojai – dalyko ir užsienio kalbos, todėl šio metodo įgyvendinimui tenka didesnės išlaidos. Siekiant pabrėžti kvalifikuotų, IDKM taikančių Lietuvos bendrojo lavinimo mokyklų mokytojų parengimo svarbą, straipsnyje analizuojama viena iš svarbių IDKM pedagogų kompetencijų – gebėjimas veiksmingai taikyti informacines komunikacines technologijas IDKM pamokoje. Straipsnio tikslai: išanalizuoti mokytojų, besirengiančių taikyti IDKM, IKT naudojimo įpročius įvairiose kasdienio gyvenimo ir profesinės veiklos terpėse ir ištirti jų požiūrį į IKT taikymą, integruojant dalyko ir kalbos mokymą; palyginti bendrojo lavinimo mokyklų mokytojų ir aukštosios mokyklos dėstytojų požiūrį į technologijų veiksmingumą mokant(-is). Straipsnyje taip pat apžvelgiamas bendrojo lavinimo mokyklų infrastruktūros sąlygų tinkamumas taikyti IKT pamokų metu ir popamokinėje veikloje. Tyrimas atliktas Vytauto Didžiojo universiteto Užsienio kalbų centre (VDU UKC), naudojant duomenų kiekybinę analizę. Tyrimo respondentai – 96 Lietuvos bendrojo lavinimo mokyklų mokytojai. Tyrimo rezultatai atskleidė, kad mokytojai vertina technologijas kaip galimybę paįvairinti IDKM pamokos didaktiką ir metodiką, panaudojant autentiškus šaltinius užsienio kalba, diferencijuojant užduotis ir mokymo procesą, skatinant mokinius mokytis savarankiškai, pasirenkant individualizuotą mokymo(-si) tempą, organizuojant kūrybinį komandinį mokymąsi, kurio metu mokiniai tampa tyrėjais, rengiant bendrus projektus su kitų mokyklų, miestų ir šalių bendraamžiais, be to, mokytojų nuomone, IDKM pedagogo kompetencijų tobulinimas yra tiesiog neatsiejamas nuo IKT, atveriančių langą į informacijos ir komunikacijos pasaulį bei leidžiančių neribotai varijuoti IDKM pamokos turiniu ir forma. Present article generally focuses on the implementation of content and language integrated learning (CLIL ) methodology in Lithuanian schools of general education. Although CLIL has already enjoyed quite a long history of its application in various parts of the world and has to some extent been present in Lithuanian schools, the problematic aspects of its implementation in Lithuania are still pending to be resolved. Among a few shortcomings such as the lack of legal regulations or the absence of the ‘whole school policy’ approach, insufficient CLIL teachers’ competences can be placed at the top of the problem list. This is evidenced by the fact that the most popular type of CLIL in Lithuanian schools entails a subject teacher and a foreign language teacher working together in a CLIL class. To improve the situation the subject teachers need to perfect a number of competences including CLIL didactics, application of active methods, use of ICT, etc. to be prepared for a quality CLIL class. In light of this observation, the present study aims at analysing teachers’ attending a CLIL training course attitudes towards the application of ICT in various contexts ranging from the daily life routines to professional activities and to CLIL classes as a fertile area for ICT-based activities. It also aims at comparing the attitudes of teachers from general education schools with the ones obtained from university language teachers and students in earlier studies. It is an analytic quantitative study with 96 teachers participating as respondents. The study has revealed the teachers’ largely positive attitudes towards the application of ICT in CLIL classes indicating a number of advantages: the use of authentic subject-related resources in a foreign (target) language and the possibility to differentiate tasks and the teaching process as well as to motivate and organise students’ individual work. The application of ICT in CLIL classes is also highlighted by the teachers as an effective means of fostering students’ creativity through subject-related team projects such as webquests or by initiating cooperation with students from other schools and countries.

Eglė Stankevičiūtė, Vilniaus Pedagoginio Universiteto, socialinių mokslų fakulteto, politinės sociologijos magistro studentė atliko tyrimą, kurio tikslas ištirti profesinių mokyklų įvaizdį, tarp Vilniaus miesto dešimtos klasės moksleivių. Šio darbo problemą nusako profesinių mokyklų socialinė ir ekonominė svarba ir jos ištirtumo trūkumas. Profesinio mokymo patrauklumas yra svarbus socialinis – ekonominis reiškinys, kuris yra tiesiogiai susijęs su ekonomine šalies raida. Lietuvoje neproporcingai mokinių abiturientų pasirenka aukštąjį mokslą, todėl didėja kvalifikuotų viduriniosios grandies specialistų, turinčių konkrečią profesiją, poreikis. Šio tyrimo objektas - profesinio mokymo įvaizdis. Darbe iškelti tokie uždaviniai: 1. Remiantis Lietuvos ir užsienio autorių darbais, apibrėžti organizacijos įvaizdžio esmę, nustatyti švietimo organizacijos įvaizdžio įpatumus. 2. Aptarti profesinių mokyklų sistemos Lietuvoje kontekstą. 3. Ištirti koks profesinių mokyklų įvaizdis tarp Vilniaus miesto 10 klasės moksleivių. 4. Remiantis tyrimu nustatyti kokie yra profesinių mokyklų įvaizdžio veiksniai. 5. Nustatyti galimą profesinių mokyklų įvaizdžio kitimo kryptį. Its purpose is to examine the image of vocational schools among the tenth grade students in Vilnius city. The problem of this work is described by the social and economical importance of these schools. What is more, there is a lack of study in this particular field. In Lithuania, the high-school graduates choose higher education disproportionately, which increased the need of middle-skilled specialists. The object of this work is the image of vocational training. The tasks of this work: 1. To define the essence of the organizations image with the help of Lithuanian and foreign authors’ works, also to identify the image peculiarities of this educational institution. 2. To discuss the vocational training situation in Lithuania. 3. To examine the image of vocational schools among the tenth grade students in Vilnius city. 4. Apibendrinant atliktą analizę pateikiamos rekomendacijos IT mokytojams, dėstantiems IT kursą bendrojo lavinimo mokyklose.Analysis of School-leavers’ Computer LiteracyAidas Žandaris SummaryThe paper analyzes the results of School-leavers’ Computer Literacy Test (SCLT) in 2007 and 2009. Statistical data on those who took the course credit test are presented and the statistical analysis of the results is made. Based on the results of statistical analysis – the degree of diffi culty of SCLT items as well as item discrimination – the points that caused most problems for students who took the course credit test have been selected. The analysis of the test results of these issues has shown what mistakes were mostly made by the students and which topics were most difficult for them. Summarizing the analysis made, some recommendations are presented for teachers of Information Technology (IT) who deliver the IT course at schools of general education.

Pastaruoju metu Lietuvoje atlikta nemažai tyrimų, kuriuose gilinamasi į specialiųjų ugdymosi poreikių mokinių ugdymosi veiksmingumą, mokytojų gebėjimą ugdyti specialiųjų ugdymosi poreikių mokinius, atkreiptas dėmesys į specialiųjų pedagogų darbo kokybę. Tačiau išsamiau specialiojo pedagogo darbas kol kas nenagrinėtas. Iškelta hipotezė, kad bendrojo lavinimo mokyklos mokytojai, SUP mokinių tėvai ir patys specialieji pedagogai ne visada palankiai žiūri į specialiojo pedagogo darbą, kartais išsako kritinį požiūrį; specialiojo pedagogo darbas dar ne visiškai tenkina mokytojų ir tėvų lūkesčius. Anketinės apklausos metodu buvo atliktas tyrimas, kurio tikslas - atskleisti, kaip specialiojo pedagogo darbą vertina individualizuoto ugdymo proceso dalyviai (mokytojai, tėvai, specialieji pedagogai). Antriniai (gretutiniai tikslai) - įvertinti specialiojo pedagogo teikiamą pagalbą kiekybiniu aspektu, nustatyti silpniausias specialiosios pedagoginės pagalbos sritis ir būdus specialiojo pedagogo pagalbos efektyvumui didinti. Tyrimo duomenys analizuojami statistiniais metodais (aprašomoji statistika, faktorinė analizė). Tyrime dalyvavo 60 Šiaulių ir 40 Rokiškio rajonų bendrojo lavinimo mokyklų mokytojų, 100 Šiaulių rajono bendrojo lavinimo mokyklų SP mokinių tėvų, 30 Šiaulių ir 20 Rokiškio rajonų bendrojo lavinimo mokyklų specialiųjų pedagogų Svarbiausios empirinio tyrimo išvados: 1. Three groups of respondents answered the questions of the forms. Masters’ work author raised the hypothesis, that special teacher work at the general education school stimulant teachers’ work efficiency, parents’- activity to participate in the special education process. But special teacher’ work doesn’t always satisfy meet the teachers and parents requirements. Teachers valued special teachers’ assistance to make individual programs, to consult about students special needs education. Parents valued special teacher’s assistance for their children in the individual lessons and special teachers’ consults. Special teachers’ valued their own abilities to work as special teachers, their assistance and consults for teachers, students with special needs education and their parents. The essential work sphere and consulting parents, who have children with special needs and teachers, who work with this children. Teachers value special teachers’ work well (consultations, communication, estimation of students special needs). And not sufficient well – help to adaptation content, application methods. Students’ with special needs parents only give information for teachers, but often they don’t undestand information about special education process. The change of learning motivation and achievements in general education in vocational school The objective of the research: Evaluation of changes in learning motivation and achievements in general education in vocational schools. The tarks of the research: 1. Determining the fects of studying motivation changes in vocational schools. 2. Deseribing the influence of motivation changes on learning achievements. Methods and sources of the research. The research has been fulfilled applying general and special scientific methods as literature analysis, statistical analysis, grouping of research data, generalization and comparison. The data has been processed by SPSS computer programme. The guestionnaire has been chosen as the main research method. The area of the research. The research has been carried out with 196 students and 40 teachers from vocational schools. Conclusions: · The research results showed that about 60% students decided to study in a vocational school, because their studies in a secondary school were not successful. · The research also revealed the fact that the learning achievements of most students at a vocational shool remain almost the same though motivation rises. · The students and the teachers pointed out the factors which should be important in enhancing the motivation to study. They are such as active training methods, validity of assessment system, motivating training material, interest, figurative style and relation with future profession.

Straipsnyje nagrinėjamas UNESCO ugdymo kokybės imperatyvo ir su juo susijusių švietimo politikos rekomendacijų aktualumas ir galimos transformacijos Lietuvoje. Siekta išsiaiškinti, ar aktualus Lietuvos švietimui UNESCO (EFA) šeštasis tikslas -gerinti švietimo kokybę ir ar UNESCO švietimo politikos rekomendacijos perspektyvios gerinant Lietuvos švietimo kokybę? Buvo analizuojami UNESCO švietimo politikos dokumentai, gretinant jų akcentuojamus švietimo kokybės politikos veiksnius su rezultatais, gautais statistiškai apdorojant nacionalinių mokinių pasiekimų tyrimų 2003, 2004 ir 2005 m. duomenis. Rezultatų analizė atskleidė, kad ugdymo individualizavimas yra perspektyvi Lietuvos pradinio ir pagrindinio ugdymo politikos kryptis, galinti padėti pasiekti didelio mokinių pasiekimų pagerėjimo. Neblogų rezultatų galėtų duoti tolesnis mokinių vertinimo ugdymo procese praktikos tobulinimas. Daugiau dėmesio reikėtų kreipti į mokytojų kompetencijos kėlimą, nes potencialiai tai yra viena iš perspektyviausių švietimo kokybės gerinimo priemonių. Mokinių pasiekimai nuo fizinės mokymosi aplinkos mokykloje šiuo metu priklauso palyginti nedaug. Keliama hipotezė, kad fizinės mokymosi aplinkos gerinimas galėtų duoti geresnių rezultatų keliant ugdymo kokybę, jei mokytojai būtų specialiai rengiami dirbti renovuotose ir geriau aprūpintose mokyklose. Analizės rezultatai nesuteikia pagrindo tikėtis, kad mokinių pasiekimus būtų galima per trumpą laiką pagerinti mažinant mokinių skaičių klasėse. Rekomenduojama plėsti tyrimus, siekiant išsiaiškinti, kaip veiksmingiau gerinti mokinių testų rezultatus. The paper focuses on the evaluation of the relevance of UNESCO Education for All (EFA) Dakar goal six (to improve the quality of education) for the education in Lithuania and the viability of applying recommendations of UNESCO education policy in improving the quality of education in Lithuania. Based on the data of the National Students' Achievements' Research carried out in the years 2003, 2004 and 2005, factors determining the quality of general education have been analyzed. The factors are compared with the education quality determinants pointed out in UNESCO documents, i.e. high professional level of teachers, individualization in education, improvement of the quality of education, improvement of physical educational environment, reduction of the number of students per class. The basic conclusion drawn up in the paper is that improvement of quality of student achievement is essential both for basic and secondary education in Lithuania. Currently, student achievement rather insignificantly pertains to the physical educational environment at school. Results of the analysis do not give grounds to believe that students' achievements' might be shortly improved by reducing the number of students per class. Individualization in education, improvement of student evaluation in the process of education and developing teacher competence are considered to be perspective trends of the Lithuanian education policy.
