The objective of this paper is to present the concept expansion of didactic sequence, considering contributions from didactic engineering as well as the relationship between this tool and the didactic triangle in oral and written genres teaching proposals for Portuguese as a mother tongue. To achieve this aim, the theoretical framework is based on language didactics and didactic engineering. The academic texts selected as the corpus for analysis present the research results on oral and written textual genre production applying didactic sequence. Findings have shown the concept of didactic sequence firstly as a tool used to develop the students' linguistic abilities in order for them to produce the oral and written genres. The relationship with the didactic triangle is highlighted in studies focused on the "student" vertex, emphasizing the student-knowledge relationship. Secondly, considering the influence of didacting engineering, the concept of didactic sequence is expanded and its initial modular organization becomes more complex, having more textual activities being applied, creating the learning itinerary device, which is related to the didactic triangle. Such a relationship shows that the device is applied in studies on the "teacher-student" vertex, pinpointing the teacher-knowledge and the student-knowledge relationships. The itinerary is an expansion of the didactic sequence without interposing it. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
