Teeth loss has different causes and has devastating results to the entire stomatognathic system by affecting its main functions: masticatory function, physiognomic function and phonetic function. Through this article our aim is to underline the anatomical characteristics of the maxillary bone, the resorption mechanism at this level that is produced as a result of masticatory unit loss, the importance of the maxillary sinus, the way these characteristics are influencing the prosthetic restauration as well as the importance of immediate provisional restauration. Nowadays the temporary restauration represents an indispensable stage of treatment as this increases the patients level of trust in the practitioner, in the therapeutic act but mostly the patients comfort as well as the opportunity of a fast society reintegration. Aims of the research is to analyze the advantages of various types of imaging investigations and their limitations as early diagnosis of diseases in the stomatognathic system. In the complex oral rehabilitation are situations when an investigation requires more accurate imaging and diagnostic accuracy. From an economic perspective, its higher cost will pay off in that early diagnosis and intervention on early stage lesions have lower costs than therapeutic interventions for lesions that were diagnosed only after clinical manifestations.
