Barilius bendelisis, commonly known as Indian Hill Trout is an upland water fish of South East Asia. It belongs to the family Cyprinidae and dwells in shallow, clear and cold water. In this study, the intraspecific variation of Barilius bendelisis, on the basis of morphometric characters, was investigated. Altogether, 402 specimens were collected from four rivers in the Central Indian Himalaya. A truss network was constructed by interconnecting 12 landmarks to yield 30 distance variables that were extracted from digital images of specimens using tpsDig2 and PAST software. Allometric transformed truss measurements were subjected to univariate analysis of variance, factor analysis and discriminant analysis. All variables exhibited significant differences between the populations. Altogether 88% of the specimens were classified into their original populations (81.98% under a ‘leave-one-out’ procedure). With factor analysis measurements of the head region, the middle portion and the caudal region had high loadings on the first and second axis. The results indicated that B. bendelisis has significant phenotypic heterogeneity between the geographically isolated regions of Central Indian Himalaya. We hypothesize that the marked interspecific variation in B. bendelisis is the result of local ecological conditions.

Abstract In the present scenario, world is progressing in the direction of energy crisis and severe ecological concerns due to the excessive utilization of non-renewable resources. Fossil fuel reserves are inadequate and produce hazardous geological contamination throughout the energy extraction. To meet such challenges, active amalgamation of renewable energy resources (RER) with distributed generation (DG) is the only way to progressing in future. Demand response scheme and battery storage is also essential for the reliable and consistent energy generation and efficient utilization. The role of RER in the evolution of DG is presented in this paper. The objective of this paper is to evaluate the barricades, reimbursements and influence of renewable energy based DG planning and framework. Moreover, a comparative assessment of renewable DG optimization based on optimization criteria and enhanced outcomes are evaluated for this futuristic atmospheric friendly approach.

This article offers innovations at the nexus of theory and method for an ethnographic and engaged political ecology. In it we consider the expansion of digital technologies and digitally-mediated social interactions within and beyond the kinds of geographically out-of-the-way sites that have long animated this interdisciplinary field. These transformations, we argue, are taking place at such vast scope and speed that they merit inclusion in the ongoing critical conversation about the methods, commitments, and contributions of political ecology, especially as these relate to the concepts of distance and difference. Putting our field research in Uganda and Bolivia in conversation with our experiences as xennial ethnographers, here we examine three themes: how digital connectivity is changing "the field" and fieldwork; how the ubiquity of digital technologies is changing the relationship between "the field" and "home"; and how ethnographically grounded political ecologists can position our research in academic settings where digital data is increasingly prevalent and powerful. While the extension of digital sociality across these spaces limits formerly idealized forms of "critical distance", we suggest it productively enables "critical proximity" – a situated ethnographic stance which rests not just on engagement with our interlocutors across time and place, but also responsiveness to the kinds of claims-making that digital social interactions uniquely enable.

In this article, we draw on the scholarship of feminist communitarianism to develop a critique of the predominant neoliberal qualitative social research collaboration model. We argue that feminist theories and praxis about community building and political activism have the potential to transcend the highly institutionalized, individualistic, and managerialist collaborative culture. Feminist insights can help today's researchers navigate collaborative research and address key issues such as reflexivity, consensus formation, knowledge validation, and group solidarity. We use our own work in the Feminist Research Collective and in the WomenWeLove project to present an alternative orientation and a collective way to enact transformative research. This feminist intervention against the neoliberal research culture contributes to the ongoing reflections of how we produce knowledge via qualitative social research and why we shall do so in the current historical juncture, expands our imaginations of researchers' responsibilities, and engenders new possibilities for resistance and emancipation.

In the present scenario, world is progressing in the direction of energy crisis and severe ecological concerns due to the excessive utilization of non-renewable resources.

Petroleum derived n-hexane is commercially used in solvent extraction plants due to its higher extraction efficiency in spite of the fact that it is graded as highly toxic and hazardous. The present study is based on the use of both a much safer and non toxic solvent ethanol and n-hexane for the extraction of oil from cottonseed. The extraction data were obtained by varying temperature, solvent-solid ratio and particle size, to compare the extraction efficiency of both ethanol and n-hexane. The data show that nearly the same amount of extraction is possible at a higher solvent-solid ratio for both the solvents. This study has established that the kinetics of oil extraction follows a second order reaction mechanism. The thermodynamic analysis of the data shows that both ΔHº and ΔSº are positive, and ΔGº is negative indicating that the extraction process is endothermic, irreversible, and spontaneous.

The objective of this descriptive study was to map mental health research in Brazil, providing an overview of infrastructure, financing and policies mental health research. As part of the Atlas-Research Project, a WHO initiative to map mental health research in selected low and middle-income countries, this study was carried out between 1998 and 2002. Data collection strategies included evaluation of governmental documents and sites and questionnaires sent to key professionals for providing information about the Brazilian mental health research infrastructure. In the year 2002, the total budget for Health Research was US$101 million, of which US$3.4 million (3.4) was available for Mental Health Research. The main funding sources for mental health research were found to be the São Paulo State Funding Agency (Fapesp, 53.2%) and the Ministry of Education (CAPES, 30.2%). The rate of doctors is 1.7 per 1,000 inhabitants, and the rate of psychiatrists is 2.7 per 100,000 inhabitants estimated 2000 census. In 2002, there were 53 postgraduate courses directed to mental health training in Brazil (43 in psychology, six in psychiatry, three in psychobiology and one in psychiatric nursing), with 1,775 students being trained in Brazil and 67 overseas. There were nine programs including psychiatry, neuropsychiatry, psychobiology and mental health, seven of them implemented in Southern states. During the five-year period, 186 students got a doctoral degree (37 per year) and 637 articles were published in Institute for Scientic Information (ISI)-indexed journals. The investment channeled towards postgraduate and human resource education programs, by means of grants and other forms of research support, has secured the country a modest but continuous insertion in the international knowledge production in the mental health area.
