Abstract The territory of the Republic of Ecuador has a high seismicity. In Ecuador, 95.9% of housing structures are built with the use of masonry. It is observed that among construction professionals in Ecuador there is a general lack of knowledge about the properties of the constituent materials of masonry and the standards for their structural design. This lack of knowledge has led to the proliferation of constructions that do not comply with technical standards of seismic resistance and structural safety, which can generate considerable economic losses and, above all, put the physical integrity of people at risk. The objective of this research is to quantitatively determine the local reality of the technical knowledge and use of masonry in Ecuador. The results show that 82% of construction professionals are young professionals; 33.8% are under 30 years of age; 51.2% have less than 5 years of professional experience; 71% never or almost never carry out structural design including masonry as elements of the structural system; 81% never received academic content on structural design of masonry during their higher education in Ecuador; there is a general lack of knowledge about the mechanical properties of masonry materials and the Ecuadorian standard for the design of structural masonry has significant shortcomings.

This study aimed to investigate the temporal pattern of goal scoring in recent 8 editions of the elite Brazilian Championship. The sample consisted of 3,039 matches (7,170 goals) from the seasons 2012 to 2019 of the 1st division of the Brazilian Championship. The official match reports, which are publicly available on the website of the Brazilian Football Confederation - CBF (www.cbf.com.br), were analyzed. Data collection occurred through the observational methodology. Two experienced observers registered the data. Inter and intra-rater reliability was calculated to guarantee the quality of the observation system. During the 2012-2019 seasons an average of 393.50 goals occurred in the 1st half, and 502.75 in the 2nd half. The average number of goals per match was 2.36. Results indicated a higher incidence of goals scored in the 2nd half of the match (p < 0.05). An upward trend in the number of goals scored was observed as match-play time progressed. Football coaches and practitioners may plan and practice match strategies more effectively according to the time trend of goals in a match.

Abstract In this article, we use the notion of legitimacy to analyse shifts in global humanitarian interventions since the 1990s, culminating in the contested adoption of the Responsibility to Protect (R2P) framework under the United Nationsumbrella in 2005. We assess how this important shift was disputed with narratives of protection and interference, and argue that the engagement of nonhegemonic actors (specifically Brazil and Russia) with the scope of humanitarian protection has influenced the substantive legitimacy of this global governance issue over the past three decades by creating a norm-making process in which the fundamental features of humanitarianism have been tested and challenged.

The study applies a multiple and simultaneous structural model to demonstrate from the quantitative point of view that poverty is the result not only of simple variables such as income, the basket, the UBN and it was irrefutably demonstrated. This study was based on another study to evaluate the impact of TEKOPORA Program so called to the “conditional cash transfer” as part of state policy to reduce and overcome poverty in general and especially rural poverty. It was a representative sample at the level of the five poorest departments of Paraguay: Caaguazú, Concepcion, Canindeyú, San Pedro and Caazapá with over 2300 sampling units focused on the rural sector. With this assay poverty arises as the result of complex factors linking and interact simultaneously, structural and systemic and it must be taken into account to measure poverty and therefore to design more effective and efficient policies in the struggle for structural overcoming rural poverty. Therefore, measurement of poverty does not have to be reduced in the poverty line, or in the unsatisfied basic needs or in the integrated method. On the contrary, it must be studied through multiple causal, simultaneous and structural model.

El tratamiento online obtuvo una buena aceptación de los pacientes referida a expectativas, satisfacción, opinión y usabilidad., Internet-based treatments are useful tools to overcome the barriers in the implementation of evidence-based treatments: acceptance issues and barriers to access the treatment. As far as we know, no randomized controlled trial (RCT) has been published to investigate the efficacy and acceptability of an Internet-based treatment for FP. The main purpose of this doctoral dissertation is to assess the effectiveness and patients' acceptance of NO-FEAR Airlines an internet-based treatment for FP in an RCT. The present dissertation as compendium of publications is mainly composed of four chapters: 1) Introducing NO-FEAR Airlines; 2) Study protocol; 3) The effectiveness of NO-FEAR Airlines; 4) The acceptability of NO-FEAR Airlines. Results showed the efficacy of NO-FEAR Airlines (with and without therapist guidance) compared to a waiting list control group. The program was well-accepted by the participants in terms of expectations, satisfaction, opinion, and usability regardless of whether therapist guidance was provided.

Mindfulness means paying attention in a particular way: deliberately, in the present moment, without judging. Currently mindfulness research is focusing on the study of the working mechanisms. In this regard, training in mindfulness has proved effective in improving skills of Emotion Regulation (ER). The objective of this study is to explore the relationship between mindfulness (trait) and access to emotion regulation strategies. A total of 60 students participated, recruited from the Jaume I University and the University of Valencia. Following questionnaires were completed: Beck Depression Inventory, Five Facets Mindfulness Questionnaire, Visual Analog Scale and Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale. A Mood Induction Procedure (mIP) using Virtual Reality (VR) of sadness was used before to autobiographical memory task. The results shows that participants high in mindfulness (trait) have more er strategies than the lower (F=13,194; p=.001). Furthermore, high group takes less time to access er strategies with positive valence words (F=4,980; p=.035). The result of this study shows the importance of ER as one of the mechanisms on which mindfulness could be interacting.

Mechanized and manual systems of herbicide application in railway present either advantages or disadvantages. The main advantage of mechanized application is related to its wide operational capacity which covers large distances in short time. However, in function of the equipment characteristics, an excessive waste of herbicide usually occurs. The main advantage of manual application is the direct spraying in the infested area, decreasing the quantity of herbicide applied. On the other hand, its reduced operational capacity delays the application of the large areas, becoming the operation dependent on climatic and operational problems of the railways. The aim of this work was to perform a comparative analysis of operational and economical characteristics of the systems, pointing out the most important factor to be evaluated for its implantation. Therefore, simulations were performed by computer, considering several mathematical equations and data obtained in field. The results showed that manual application was more economical only for areas with low infestations. Concerning costs, the expenses with herbicides corresponded to approximately 80% of the total for mechanized application, and 8% for manual application. By considering operational and labor factor, in only one of the areas evaluated, economical advantage in the usage of manual application was presented.
