Abstract
This paper has a twofold aim. Firstly, it provides an analysis of reading promotion policies in Spain and, secondly, it assesses the reading practices and habits of prospective teachers as main agents of such promotion. It can be concluded from the analysis of the data obtained from 1043 future teachers of Pre-Primary and Primary Education through a self-report instrument that their reading habits are insufficiently consolidated and that they lack the reading maturity needed to implement the official reading promotion policies in their classrooms. Abstract
This paper, written from the perspective of the philosophy of religion and based on exegesis as a methodological foundation, demonstrates the unity and continuity regarding the Sacred Tree and the Tree of Life present in the mythological conceptions of old Semitic and Mediterranean religions in the holy book of Biblical Genesis, in the theological construction of the cross around the Tree of Calvary and in the liturgical praxis of the Christian Church today, where vestiges of this mythical phenomenology still remain.
