This paper is about democracy in Latin America from year 2000 to 2018. The data used is minimalist -from Freedom House's Freedom in The World-, as well as thick or wider -from The Economist Intelligence Unit Democracy Index- and even maximalist -from Índice de Desarrollo Democrático de Amé- rica Latina, IDD-Lat-. Findings confirm declining tendencies for most of the features measured. It also shows that some of the most enduring democracies in the region coexisted with a dictatorship from the Cold-War era, with a couple of new authoritarian regimes and that in between, there were diversity of fragile and vulnerable democracies.
