The article titled "Aging and Autism: Current and Future Challenges for Aging Individuals with Autism in Apnabi Autism Bizkaia" addresses the little-known phenomenon of aging in individuals with autism. The article describes the activities carried out to date in relation to this topic, such as studies, training, the creation of specific tools, campaigns, and awareness programs. The article discusses the aging of individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and the challenges they face, such as a lack of friends and dependence on family members and caregivers for social support. The low employment rate in this group is also highlighted, as well as the need to investigate how aging and employment affect individuals with autism. A project by the organization Apnabi to address the aging of individuals with ASD and their families is mentioned, with the aim of generating knowledge, training, and social awareness on this topic. The project "ActivaTE A la vida saludable" focuses on priority areas such as personalization, health, training, safety, and community participation. Internal tools have been developed to detect and monitor premature aging, and awareness and training actions have been carried out for professionals and families.
