- Abstract
The work is a reflection on "A Child is Being Beaten" 100 years after its publication. The same is done from the place that this work presents within the Freudian corpus and some current reflections, which in particular take some paths opened by Jaques Lacan. It focuses on a clinical perspective, considering the phases of fantasy as different forms of a saying starting, as Freud formulates in his article, that fantasy, in principle, is said. These three phases, which do not necessarily respond to a chronological sequence, articulate three times, which correspond to the active, passive and reflexive voices, as Freud distinguishes it, by ordering the destinies of the drive in the transformation to the contrary and the turn on itself. In this perspective, the work will try to articulate these destinies with what J. Lacan conceives as the times of the drive, which concludes in a third with the appearance of a new subject. - Abstract
This paper is the result of the work carried out in the conference "Freud 100 years later", University of Antioquia, 2015. It presents a reflection on the text Instincts and Their Vicissitudes from 1915 and on literature as a resource, particularly Leopold Von Sacher-Masoch's work. Thus, a discussion and comprehension link is established between the theory of the drives, the notion of masochism, and their place in the constitution of neurosis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
The author poses the thesis of an adolescence transition: the authoritarian Superego of childhood becomes a post-adolescent Superego inspired in a desire of law. This transition results in an adult Superego, which includes these both ways of functioning. The authoritarian superego aspect could suffer a defensive regression, related to the splitting defensive processes. They appear in the border limits of neurosis, where the masochistic phantasy plays a core role. In its second part, the text discusses the perverse-polymorph erotism and describes the role of the masochistic phantasy in it. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

LITERARY magazines , *VENEZUELAN literature , *MASOCHISM , *SADOMASOCHISM , *EXHIBITIONISM (Sexual behavior) - Abstract
El Cojo Ilustrado can be considered one of the most important publications of the era of modernity and modernismo in Latin America. This Venezuelan literary magazine emphasized texts as well as images, privileging the latter over the former to the extent that there could at times be no correlation between them. As I argue, El Cojo Ilustrado's images were so novel and consistent that they not only imposed a kind of ambitious yet low risk modernity but also beautified, entertained and contributed to the creation of a thoroughly experimental space that allowed writers and collaborators to experiment with a not always domesticated content that went completely unperceived by the editorial supervision. The gap between image and text created an incongruent space, even an illegible one, that also put into crisis the lettered and educational project that this otherwise family-oriented magazine promoted. El Cojo Ilustrado thus offered a space that I refer to as "adulterated," insofar as it challenged the representation of any fixed idea that sought to be constructed as sole truth and moral absolute, and this space permitted experimentation with the most disputed sexual pathologies of the era, including masochism, fetishism, and exhibitionism. - Abstract
The concept of perversion in Freud's work is marked by different times to realize a gradual process of complexity whose starting point is the questioning of the evil as purely phenomenological, after which emerges the psychic plane and thus then the notion of perversion as oedipal product which underlies the mechanism of disavowal, this being the notion that in its articulation with femininity grounds the question of the status of perversion in a woman under which motherhood and masochism appear as ways to think about the matter. This article is based on a qualitative investigation that used in depth interview techniques within the framework of case studies of four women, aiming at family violence (FV) study from a psychoanalytic point of view. A critical position on FV force us to call it "violent love relationships" and to specify that we study the role of the female jouissance in this situation that doesn't obey the principle or pleasure. There seems to be an exhaustion on this subject, specially regarding gender studies, but the description of this phenomena doesn't tell us about its complexity by letting a side the psychic constitution of these women, a matter that we retake from Freudian- Lacanian psychoanalysis, in relation to some of the postulates of Michel Foucault on power, the concept of primary violence of Piera Castoriadis- Aulagnier and the concepts of symbolical violence and male domination of Pierre Bourdieu. OEDIPUS complex , *OEDIPUS (Greek mythology) , *MASOCHISM - Abstract
The present work comes from the possibility of placing a triple intersection between Oedipus and masochism. These crossing points-that will have different clinical implications and a series of intrinsic problematizations-can be summarised as follows: i) There are different ways to consider connections between masochism and Oedipus complex; ii) The myth of Oedipus, (which has inspired the Sophoclean 's tragedy Oedipus Rex ) allows, without being outlinedunder the term "complex", -at least- a form of relationship with the issue of masochism; iii) It is possible to establish a link between primary masochism and the late work of Sophocles' Oedipus in Colono. SUBMISSIVENESS , *EMPTINESS (Philosophy) , *MASOCHISM , *HUMAN sexuality , *PLEASURE - Abstract
Objectives: The aims of this paper are: 1) To explain relationships based on submission as a defensive type of linking which creates a "controlled vacuum", whose purpose is to fill up an inner state of emptiness or vacuum caused by disinvestiture of the parental object; 2) To propose a more precise definition of the concept of "relationships based on submission", and to differentiate them from relationships based on dependency and masochism. Development: This paper was built on case material, which was then confronted with theoretical concepts from the psychoanalytic clinic of the negative, as well as with relationships based on dependency and submission. Conclusions: It is concluded that the relationships based on submission are not an issue of a gain of masochistic pleasure by the subject, but rather a compulsive tendency to fill up a vacuum left by disinvestiture of the parental object through idealization of the object to which the subject submits. Because of that the search for masochistic pleasure is not offered as an interpretation to the patient. Here a matter of dependency arises. In this case with an analyst like me, auxiliary, that allows the patient to get the recovery of the disassociated parts of the self as well as a progressive disidealization of the object to which the subject submits. This in order to tolerate the emptiness and recover his/her sexuality as a search of pleasure. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

MASOCHISM , *SUBJECT (Philosophy) , *OTHER (Philosophy) , *SUBLIMATION (Psychology) , *PSYCHOANALYSIS - Abstract
The purpose of this study is to show the logic of the contract's masochist in the relation between the subject and the big Other. In this case, the Verleugnung is the way of disavowal "that which does not cease to not write itself" or the impossible in Jacques Lacan's sexuation formulas. The most relevant difference between the literature of courtley love and this sytle of contract about facing the impossible is that the first is the product of sublimation. The contract's masochist has the nature of a fetish. The importance of the contract's masochist was a point of coincidence between Jacques Lacan and Gilles Deleuze in the period 1966-1969, and it constitutes a remarkable element for the studies of the perversion in psychoanalysis. PSYCHOANALYSIS , *TALE (Literary form) , *SEPARATION-individuation , *MOTHER-son relationship , *MASOCHISM - Abstract
"The Prohibition of Don't Look" is a psychoanalytic concept conceived in Japan, exemplified through myths, folk tales and clinical work, by Osamu Kitayama in 1985. This Prohibition proclaims a situation of being forbidden to see the separation-individuation process by the dependant person in a love-relationship, for example the son in the mother-son relationship. This may in later years create a complex love-relationship for the son vis-à-vis his love-object which maybe personified with guilt; and may also problematise the primary caretaker, i.e. the mother, through its mechanism of masochism in the mother. This paper examines the Prohibition of Don't Look in some of the Japanese folk tales and myths, while at the same time explores the application of the Prohibition in the Hindous context, deriving material from the clinical and the cultural contexts of India. Simultaneously it attempts to examine western and universal cross-cultural reflections on such related aspects revolving around shame, guilt and masochism, and its deeper psychological repercussions in the individual. PLAY , *CHILD analysis , *ANXIETY in children , *MANIA , *EGO-ideal , *MASOCHISM , *PSYCHOANALYSIS - Abstract
This paper purports to contribute to the study of the link between play and words, and the latter's place in analystic technique. The case of a child 6 1/2 old, who came to treatment aged just 5 years, illustrates my analytic stance, particularly my way of responding to the child's proposals, and the ensuing effects. Responding to the child's play requests is unavoidable in child analyses: under bearable levels of anxiety it may lead to a widening of the play itself as well as to a chance to think about it. Which leads to the issue of whether to interpret within the game itself from the allotted role, or alternatively from out of it, building different places for play on the one hand, and thinking-talking about it on the other hand. Specifically, it is argued that in child analyses enacting the child's play proposal has a fundamental place in anaytic work. 'Playing the game proposed' favours the unfolding which is a must for the emergence, finding and construction of meaning. Interpretation enounced from 'inside' the allotted personified role, often quasi-theatrically, helps further introjection by the analysand and also, besides its instrumental function, it builds up a meaningful place. This is why it is important to keep up the play context, the interruption of which alters its receptive and transformational function. It may happen, though, in instances where manic defenses are at forefront, that the limits of play and acting become blurred and the assumption of the allotted roles may help sustain a manic fusion of ego and ego-ideal, as well as a level of denial, confusion, and rejection of dependency. In such cases, acceptance of the allotted role may help promote manic triumphalism, while tolerance may lead the analyst into masoquism, perverting the transference. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
Through the analysis of Polansky's film Venus in Furs (2013), a dramatisation of the Sacher-Masoch's homonym work as a play adaptation, we intend to investigate the masculine fantasy that governs the masochist scenario. We will start with Deleuze's idea which disavows the common conception of the masochism as the mere inversion or role exchange between master and slave of the sadist position. We will conclude confirming the convenience of differentiatingwithin the common perverse structure the masochist from the sadist scenario, throwing some light on the position achieved in it by the female character as mistress, before whom supposedly the masochist postrates. - Abstract
This work treats to elucidate some key questions regarding the origin and the way the goddess appears in the masochist subject's universe. We start with Sacher-Masoch' novel Venus in Furs, testimony of the masochist relationship between Severino and Wanda. Later Krafft -Ebing will take this novel as an inspiration to inscribe the masochism as a perverse diagnosis in his Psycopathologia Sexualis (1886). These brief comments do not aspire to anything other than being a fragmented contribution, circumscribed within the perverse structure and taken from a psychoanalytical point of view. There is of course no aim to establish them as generalisations. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
