The aim of the study is to examine the reading profiles of primary school students in terms of various variables. The sample group of the study, which was conducted using the general survey model, consisted of 537 primary school students attending state and private schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education in Kırşehir Province during the 2023-2024 academic year. A Personal Information Form prepared by the researcher was used to determine the personal characteristics of the students participating in the study. The Personal Information Form included questions regarding the students' gender, grade level, parents' education level, and the type of school they attended. The research data were obtained using the "Reading Profile Scale." The research results showed that the reading profiles of male and female students differed based on the gender variable, and there was a significant difference in reading profiles according to grade level. However, parents' graduation status did not show a significant difference. Additionally, the results indicated that students' perceptions of their reading profiles significantly differed based on the type of school attended. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

At the end of the Covid-19 pandemic process in Turkey (2021-2022 academic year), it was decided to continue face-to-face education and training. With the return of students to face-to-face education, it was observed that there were changes in some behaviors compared to before the pandemic. In this study, it was aimed to determine the behavioral changes observed in students during the transition from distance education to face-toface education according to the opinions of teachers. This study was planned using qualitative research method and case study design, one of the qualitative research designs, was used. A study group consisting of 25 teachers was formed by ensuring maximum diversity in the research. The teachers constituting the study group work in primary, secondary and secondary education institutions. The age of the students observed by the teachers varied between 7 and 17. The data obtained by conducting semistructured interviews consisting of open-ended questions with the teachers in the study group through the online application were analyzed by content analysis method. According to the data obtained, all of the participants stated that there were behavioral changes in students and that these changes were negative. The latest chapter in Turkey's nearly two-century-long journey to keep pace with educational advancements can be seen in the Ministry of National Education (MEB)'s "Türkiye Yüzyılı Maarif Modeli" (TYMM). MEB's efforts, spanning over two years, have led to two versions of this model due to the changes and transformations over time, one from 2023 and another from 2024. The second version, officially announced to the public and set to be piloted in the 2024-2025 academic year, represents a new phase for the Turkish Education System with its philosophy, vision, programs, and appendices. TYMM seems to have ended the habit and ease of shaping the system with models borrowed from the West since the Ottoman era. Indeed, the teaching programs within TYMM are a synthesis of universal competencies (K-12 skill framework) and values with national heritage. TYMM, in terms of its content, dimensions, scope, and philosophical references, occupies a unique position that does not fully fit into any existing framework in the literature, and it could be considered the early signs of a new Turkish enlightenment infused with a local philosophical search. Within this context, the aim of this study is to analyze the TYMM, which will be piloted in the 2024-2025 academic year in Turkey, based on the MEB documents from 2023 and 2024 and a literature review, from the perspectives of program development and philosophical framework. In line with this objective, the questions of what are the general features of TYMM, how the teaching programs within it have evolved, and what is its philosophical outlook and position, have been addressed. The study employed a qualitative research method, specifically the survey method. According to the findings of the study, TYMM's philosophical stance can be described as a "philosophical world blend," encompassing many national and local principles, indicating a "holistic" position. By looking at the concepts based on our civilizational roots, such as "perfect human," "unity of body, mind, heart, and soul," and "virtue-value-action," which are among the firsts for most of the Turkish Education System, the holistic position of the model can be seen as a manifestation of a competent and eager spirit ready to leave its mark on the era by recalling its past. The main aim of this study is to examine the role of workplace incivility in the relationship between cognitive cynicism and job alienation. Teachers working in Erzurum province in the 2022-2023 academic year constitute the population of this study. Among this population, 390 individuals selected with a simple random sampling model constitute the sample of the study. In order to collect data from the sample group, data were collected with the questionnaire method, which is one of the most widely used quantitative research techniques in the literature. The questionnaire forms were prepared online and delivered to the sample group by the researchers. Reliability analyses, explanatory and confirmatory factor analyses and correlation analyses were applied to the obtained research data with the help of SSPS and AMOS programs, and the structural model of the research was tested, direct and indirect relationships between the variables of the model were determined, and the validity of indirect relationships was examined with bootstrap analysis. As a result of this study, it was revealed that workplace incivility had a significant role in the relationship between cognitive cynicism and work alienation among teachers. To reveal the competencies of preschool teachers regarding science activities and their attitudes towards science teaching by examining them in terms of some variables and measuring the relationships and differences between them. In the study, the survey method was used to determine the situation. In the descriptive method, existing situations or individuals are tried to be defined within their own conditions. The population of the research consists of preschool teachers in Kastamonu province. The sample study group of the research consists of a total of 184 pre-school teachers, formed by simple random sampling method, working in public and private kindergartens affiliated to the Ministry of National Education and primary schools in the central schools and districts of Kastamonu province in the 2016-2017 academic year. According to the results obtained from the data analysis of the research, a positive relationship was observed between the comfort-discomfort sub-dimension of the attitude scale applied to preschool teachers and the materials and methods used sub-dimensions of the proficiency scale. It was concluded that there is a positive and significant relationship between the pre-instructional preparation sub-dimension of the attitude scale and the level of knowledge regarding the application of the proficiency scale. It was concluded that there is a positive significant relationship between the developmental appropriateness sub-dimension of the attitude scale and the level of knowledge about practice sub-dimensions of the competence scale. The aim of this study is to improve students' awareness of values by using flags and banners within the scope of social studies course. With the studies prepared with the examples of flags and banners used in Turkish states, the values of "independence", "freedom", "patriotism" and "respect" were tried to be developed. This study is of great importance for the promotion of Turkish flags and banners, which are of great importance for the existence, unity and independence of a nation, and for the development of values that have an important place in education programs. In this study, it is essential to determine the importance of the flag as a symbol of national independence and freedom with examples of flags and banners, to develop values and to raise awareness of protecting the flag. This study was carried out within the scope of "Active Citizenship Unit" within the scope of social studies course with 25 5th grade students of a state secondary school in Ereğli district of Zonguldak province in the 2020-2021 academic year. This research was carried out with the case study pattern, which is one of the qualitative research models Within the scope of this study, data were collected with the answers given by the students to the questions about the analysis of the values related to the flag and ensign samples in the worksheets, and the collected data were analyzed with the descriptive analysis method. As a result of the study, it was determined that the students gained awareness about the values with the comments and determinations extracted from the students' discourses and that the studies were effective for the development of the students' values. The aim of this research is to determine what kind of reading mistakes university senior Turkish teacher candidates make during reading aloud and to determine whether these mistakes correlate with gender, number of reading books per month and academic GPA.The research was conducted in the 2023- 2024 Academic Year with 30 fourth grade students studying at Gazi University, Gazi Faculty of Education, Department of Turkish Education. The participants were read two texts, one narrative and the other informative, selected from the 8th grade Turkish language textbook by taking expert opinion. In this research, in which the relational screening model, one of the quantitative research methods, was used, it was determined that Turkish teacher candidates made 13 different reading aloud mistakes. It was determined that teacher candidates made the most mistakes in “mispronouncing words, changing letters and reading words over and over again”. It has been determined that male students make fewer mistakes than female students when reading texts aloud and there is a low level of correlation between academic GPA and the number of monthly book readings with mistake rates, and that prospective teachers read the narrative text with fewer mistakess than the informative text. This research aims to determine the opinions of Religious Culture and Ethics (RCE) teachers regarding the supervisory duties of middle school principals in teacher inspections. A qualitative research design of a case study was employed in this research. The data collected from the interview forms were analysed using the descriptive analysis method. The findings of the research were organized and presented in themes and sub-themes. The research study's working group was chosen using the homogeneous sampling technique, one of the purposive sampling methods. The research study group for this study consisted of 32 RCE teachers working in middle schools in the central districts of Mersin during the 2023-2024 academic year. According to the research results, most participants (66%) believe that school principals do not adequately fulfil their supervisory duties related to teacher inspections. The participants' reasons for believing that school principals do not adequately fulfil their supervisory duties related to teacher inspections were categorized into two main themes: those stemming from the school principals themselves, and those external to the principals. Participants categorized the problems experienced by RCE teachers during the teacher inspection process as pre-inspection, inspection period, and post-inspection issues. The factors hindering school principals from adequately fulfilling their inspection duties, according to the participants, are categorized as factors originating from school principals, factors originating from teachers, and factors originating from legislation. The proposed solutions of the participants to enable school principals to fulfil their inspection duties adequately are grouped into three categories: solutions related to school principals, solutions related to teachers, and solutions related to the conduct of teacher inspections. The aim of this study was to develop a valid and reliable academic achievement test for the 4th grade "Properties of Matter" unit by taking into account the learning outcomes in the current science curriculum. In the study, the survey model, one of the quantitative research methods, was used. The sample of the study consisted of 280 fifth-grade students studying in a province in the Southeastern Anatolia Region in the 2022-2023 academic year, who were selected according to maximum variation sampling and had studied this unit last year. There are 10 outcomes in the related unit. A total of 30 questions were prepared, 3 questions for each outcome. A specification table was prepared for the face and content validity of the test and experts' opinions were taken. Based on the item analyses, with 3 questions were removed from the test and 6 questions were edited, developed and put back into the test. The final version of the test consists of 27 items, the average item difficulty is 0.59; the average item discrimination index is 0.45; and the reliability coefficient, which was calculated using the KR-20 technique, is 0.81. After the World Health Organization declared the COVID-19 outbreak a pandemic, face-to-face education was interrupted in Türkiye and education continued first in the form of distance learning and later as a hybrid education program called "diluted education program". This study aimed to describe the reading and writing process in the hybrid education model during the pandemic using case study research methods. The research data were collected from students who completed the first grade of primary school, teachers, and parents after the end of the 2020-2021 academic year. The study group consisted of 44 students, 30 teachers, and 23 parents, who were included and excluded according to the criterion sampling and snowball sampling methods among. Data from students were obtained using the drawing-writing technique, while data from parents and teachers were obtained through semi-structured interview forms. Content analysis method was used to analyze the data. As a result of the research, both positive and negative findings regarding the education process applied during the pandemic were obtained from the stakeholders of the education process, including the student, teacher, and parent. The Ministry of National Education implemented the "Family School Project" in 2022. With this project, familyschool cooperation, parent-child relationship, family relations, peer relations are tried to be made healthier and more graphic. The project process consists of three main trainings. With this research, he takes the semi-obtained interview formula by using his study from the qualitative study patterns to take the project towards the project and the education-through-training to examine the taught education field included in the project. Data were collected from 12 teachers who took part in the Family Project-trained education in the 2022-2023 academic year. After the collected data was written down, themes and codes were created and analyzed through MAXQDA 2018. According to the results of the research, the teacher stated that with this project, the reasoning of the families towards their children could increase, social and individual development could occur, and communication could develop within itself. They stated that they continue to save and personal progress depending on the content and importance of the project together with the educational training. Project teaching is those who have negative opinions about the lack of training of trainers and appropriate special training for parents and students. At the end of the study, suggestions were put forward such as incentives to increase the expectation of parents and use, saving the education period, and the differentiation of the project content according to the age groups of the people. The aim of this research is to determine teachers’ opinions about principals’ effects on school climate. The research is designed as a phenomenology, one of the qualitative research methods. The study group includes 13 teachers in primary, secondary, and high schools in Düzce city center in 2022-2023 academic year. Maximum variation sampling method, one of the purposeful sampling methods, is preferred. Data are collected through semi-structured interview questions. Content analysis technic is used in data analysis. Findings show that the attitudes and behaviors of school principals that affect the school climate, are cumulated under the themes of attitudes and behaviors that affect positively, attitudes and behaviors that affect negatively, and the individual and organizational consequences of attitudes and behaviors that affect positively or negatively. In order to create a positive school climate, it would be appropriate for the school principal to adopt a democratic and participatory, supportive leadership style instead of an authoritarian, oppressive or restrictive leadership model. The ideas of teachers should be valued in the decisions to be taken regarding the education and training processes, their participation in the decisions should be ensured, and they should be made to feel that they are an important actor in the school. The aim of this study is to examine whether the online intervention program for career planning and development prepared by the researchers is effective on the career planning skills of university students. The research is a quasi-experimental study with experimental and control groups, with pre-test, post-test and follow-up measurements, and in the experimental conditions, mixed design was used. The study group of the research consists of 40 university students, 20 of whom are in the experimental group and 20 of them in the control group, studying at a state university in the 2022-2023 academic year. Demographic information form and Career Planning Scale were used as data collection tools in the study. The intervention program to increase career planning skills was applied online to the students in the experimental group for ten weeks. The students in the control group did not receive any intervention. According to the results of the study, the career planning scores of university students who participated in the online intervention program for career planning showed a positive significant difference compared to the control group. Values are integral to all aspects of life. In this sense, examining the perceptions of teacher candidates who are in charge of educational activities related to values education in the classrooms is essential. This study aimed to discuss teacher candidates' metaphorical perceptions of the concept of "value." The sample comprised 160 teacher candidates studying at Gaziantep University Faculty of Education in the fall semester of the 2022-2023 academic year. A phenomenological design was employed in this qualitative study. The participants were asked to fill in the blanks in those statements: "Value is like....., because it is ...". The collected data were processed by content analysis, one of the qualitative data analysis techniques. The results showed that the participants generated 84 metaphors for the concept of 'value'. The most frequently mentioned metaphor was 'Culture.' Besides, the reasons underlying the metaphors were examined and classified under six conceptual categories based on Spranger's Value Classification (1928). According to the findings, they produced the most metaphors related to the concept of value under the 'Social Values Category.' The findings proved that metaphors were important tools in revealing teacher candidates' perceptions of educational concepts, and necessary suggestions were made for their use in future research. The main aim of this study was to analyze the extent to which location influenced preferences in higher education institution choices. For this purpose, in the 2021–2022 academic year, users who have newly registered in a settlement at the associate and undergraduate level were matched and coordinated at the department level with the universities they registered with and the secondary education institutions they graduated from. The values used in the study were transmitted from the YÖK ATLAS database by the data scraping (Web Scraping) method. Children who registered during open and remote operation were not included in the study, considering that they were minimally affected by the student's mobility. The result is a situation where approximately 621,000 students settled in a higher education institution in the 2021–2022 academic year, and 45% of them preferred a higher education institution that runs 100 km from the high school they graduated from. On a provincial basis, 36% of the students preferred a higher education institution in their province. It has been revealed that there is a strong relationship between the spatial proximity and mutual student mobility among the cities where student mobility occurs. The main purpose of this study is to determine the level of critical thinking skills in social studies textbooks. In this way, it is aimed to present suggestions by making inferences for the improvement of the quality of the textbooks. The case study design, one of the qualitative research designs, was used in the research. The data were collected using the document review form prepared by the researcher and the descriptive analysis method was used to analyze the data. The study material of the research consists of the 5th, 6th and 7th-grade social studies textbooks used in the 2021-2022 academic year which were prepared by the Ministry of National Education. Activities within the units and assessment-evaluation sections of the examined textbooks were examined separately. According to the results of the research, the content of the textbooks on critical thinking skills differs both according to the grade level and between the unit activities and assessment-evaluation sections. It has been observed that there are significant proportional differences in terms of the distribution of critical thinking activities according to themes. In addition, imbalances were detected in the distribution of the content for critical thinking sub-skills in the textbooks. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between classroom teachers' academic optimism and their perceptions of professional self-efficacy according to various variables like gender, age, and occupational superiority. The study is a correlational survey and causal comparison research. The research was conducted with the participation of 374 classroom teachers in public primary education institutions affiliated to the Ministry of National Education in Ankara-Etimesgut district in the 2021-2022 academic year. "Personal Information Form", "Academic Optimism Scale", "Self-Efficacy Scale" were used as data collection tools. Frequency, percentage, arithmetic mean, independent groups t-test, one-way analysis of variance, correlation and regression analysis were used in data analysis. It was concluded that there was no significant difference in the mean scores of academic optimism and professional self-efficacy according to gender, age and professional seniority. There was a positive, moderate, significant relationship between academic optimism levels and professional self-efficacy perceptions. It was concluded that academic optimism scores affected 16% of professional self-efficacy scores. In order to improve academic optimism and professional self-efficacy perceptions and to minimise the differences, it is recommended to implement projects where they can share their knowledge, skills and professional experiences.
