An optoelectronic device model for organic photodetector based on bilayer structure has been presented. Drift-diffusion and optical-generation model from Synopsys tool have been incorporated and its optoelectronics behavior has been discussed. The model shows an outstanding rectifying behavior under dark condition due to the different work function of the electrodes. Photocurrent density of 6.64 mA/cm2 is found under the illumination of 3 W/cm2. To analyze rectifying behavior of current density-voltage characteristics of the organic photodetector, the curve has been fitted with the Shockley equation. The enhancement of ideality factor of diode current under illumination from that of dark current at forward bias is attributed to enhancement of recombination loss due to generation of photo-carrier and injection of carriers from electrodes. Almost equal probability of photocurrent spectra in the entire spectral region indicates equal probability of exciton generated and dissociated at the interface between CuPc and C60 layers. The detectivity of the proposed photodetector is calculated and it is in order of 1010 Jones at 650 nm due to high dark current density and recombination loss. The presence of interface trap density and large transport distance give evidence of low response speed in the device.

Due to its inherent ability of augmenting power system stability limit while maintaining good electric Power Quality (PQ), Power System Stabilizer (PSS) is envisaged to be an effective device in numerous Distributed Generation (DG) applications. It becomes a paramount work to maintain stable frequency, and alleviate the utility-grid collapse. Owing to this, this paper evaluates the performance of generic, and Multiband (MB)-PSSs for a hybrid 9 MW wind farm connected with mini/micro hydro power plant. The proposed system is interfaced with 200 MVA, 25 kV utility-grid system. A comparative analysis in the performance of a generic-PSS is presented with a MB-PSS at various voltage level points and power flows at various Point of Common Couplings (PCC) are analysed. Transient analysis is carried out during the presence of various unsymmetrical faults. It is envisaged that transients and unbalanced voltage sag-swells are mitigated at various PCCs while maintaining uninterruptable real and reactive power flows. The superiority of MB-PSS is established over generic-PSS in maintaining optimal PQ flow. Consequently, the reactive power requirement of the connected load is compensated by wind and mini/micro hydro controlling schemes using MB-PSS. Overall, the accurateness of the developed simulink models is demonstrated and satisfactory results are obtained in comparative analysis of both stabilizers.

IntroductionPresently, there are few population-level strategies to address SARS-CoV-2 infection except preventive measures such as vaccination. Micronutrient deficiency, particularly vitamin D and zinc deficiency, has been associated with dysregulated host responses, and may play an important role in COVID-19.Methods and analysisWe have designed a 2×2 factorial, randomised, double-blind, multi-centre placebo-controlled trial to evaluate the effect of vitamin D and zinc on COVID-19 outcomes in Maharashtra, India. COVID-19 positive individuals are recruited from hospitals in Mumbai and Pune. Participants are provided (1) vitamin D3 bolus (180 000 IU) maintained by daily dose of 2000 IU and/or (2) zinc gluconate (40 mg daily), versus placebo for 8 weeks. Participants undergo a detailed assessment at baseline and at 8 weeks, and are monitored daily in hospital or every 3 days after leaving the hospital to assess symptoms and other clinical measures. A final follow-up telephone call occurs 12 weeks post-enrolment to assess long-term outcomes. The primary outcome of the study is to time to recovery, defined as time to resolution of all of fever, cough and shortness of breath. Secondary outcomes include: duration of hospital stay, all-cause mortality, necessity of assisted ventilation, change in blood biomarker levels and individual symptoms duration. Participant recruitment commenced on April 2021.Ethics and disseminationEthical approval was obtained from institutional ethical committees of all participating institutions. This paper unveils a sustainable energy plan for optimal utilization of available electrical energy resources for an energy-deficient village. The chosen village is Nangal, near Barnala, Punjab, India. Primarily, the requirements of electric energy are recorded and elaborated for around 450 households. Aiming this, the potential to harness electric power and its effective utilization has been identified from the available resources of energy: biomass, agriculture waste and solar photovoltaic (PV) technology. In order to achieve this, a hybrid renewable energy system (HRES) model is proposed whose performance is evaluated by implementing it in hybrid optimization model for electric renewable (HOMER) software. HOMER software provides optimal solution for a commercial biogas plant for catering cooking gas demand. Also, a coordinated solution for solar PV-operated water pumps used for irrigation, village water supply and solar PV street lights is presented and analyzed. In this way, the accurateness of proposed model is investigated by estimating the optimal electric power demand and its economic benefits. It has been revealed that the computed cost of energy and total net present cost are $0.032/KWh and $76,837, respectively, by the parametric assessment of proposed HRES system. It is envisaged that the proposed model can be a road map for future research engineers in designing an effective energy utilization for villages.

Biodegradation is the most promising environmentally sustainable method that offers a significant opportunity with minimal negative environmental consequences while searching for solutions to this global problem of plastic pollution that has now spread to almost everywhere in the entire world. In the present work, HDPE-degrading bacterial strain CGK112 was isolated from the fecal matter of a cow. The bacterial strain was identified as Micrococcus luteus CGK112 by 16S rRNA sequence coding analysis. Significant weight loss, i.e., 3.85% was recorded in the HDPE film treated with strain CGK112 for 90 days. The surface micromorphology was examined using FE-SEM, which revealed spectacular bacterial colonization as well as structural deformation. Furthermore, the EDX study indicated a significant decrease in the atomic percentage of carbon content, whereas FTIR analysis confirmed functional groups alternation as well as an increase in the carbonyl index which can be attributed to the metabolic activity of biofilm. Our findings provide insight into the capacity of our strain CGK112 to colonize and utilize HDPE as a single carbon source, thus promoting its degradation.

BackgroundBreast cancer is the most common type of cancer in women, and vast research is being conducted throughout the world for the treatment of this malignancy by natural products using various computational approaches. Xanthohumol, a prenylated flavonoid, is known for its anticancer activity; however, the mechanism behind its action is still in the preliminary stage.MethodsThe current study aimed to analyze the efficacy of xanthohumol compared to the currently available anticancer drugs targeting phosphoinositide-3-kinase (PI3K), serine/threonine kinase (AKT) receptors, and human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) for breast cancer treatment through in silico analysis.ResultsThe result revealed that the target compound showed significant binding affinity to targets within the PI3K, AKT, and HER2 signaling pathways with a binding energy of −7.5, −7.9, and −7.9 kcal/mol, respectively. Further prediction studies were then made concerning this compound’s absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion (ADME) as well as drug-likeness properties, resulting in its oral bioavailability with only a single violation of Lipinski’s rule of five.ConclusionsThe finding revealed the ability of xanthohumol to bind with multiple cancer cell signaling molecules including PI3K, AKT kinase, and HER2. The current novel study opened the door to advancing research into the management and treatment of breast cancer.

The capsid protein of dengue virus strain 2 (DENV2C) promotes nucleic acid structural rearrangements using chaperone activity. However, the role of DENV2C during the interaction of RNA elements in the conserved 5’ untranslated region (5’UTR) to the 3’ untranslated region (3’UTR) is still unclear. Thus, we investigated the effect of DENV2C on the annealing mechanism of two RNA hairpin elements from the 5’UTR to their complementary sequences during (+)/(-) ds-RNAformation and (+) RNA circularization. DENV2C was found to switch the annealing pathway for RNA elements involved in (+)/(-) ds-RNA formation, but not for RNA elements related to (+) RNA circularization. In addition, we also determined that DENV2C modulates intrinsic dynamics and reduces kinetically trapped unfavourable conformations of the 5’UTR sequence. Thus, our results provide mechanistic insights by which DENV2C chaperones the interactions between RNA elements at the 5’ and 3’ ends during genome recombination, a prerequisite for DENV replication., Graphical Abstract

This manuscript discusses and explains in detail the thresholding technique used for segmentation of the image with and without optimized BAT algorithm.The results have been compared with various already known parameters i.e . Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR ) , Mean square error (MSE ) and Rand Index (RI) and validated with prior art . Evaluation of Ostu thresholding and Ostu thresholding with BAT algorithm have been compared and analysis has been presented with optimum results have been obtained by applying Ostu thresholding with BAT algorithm as compared with Ostu thresholding algorithm considering various essential parameters

Dengue virus (DENV) is a flavivirus causing an estimated 390 million infections per year around the world. Despite the immense global health and economic impact of this virus, its true receptor(s) for internalization into live cells has not yet been identified, and no successful antivirals or treatments have been isolated to this date. This study aims to improve our understanding of virus entry routes by exploring the sialic acid-based cell surface molecule GM1a and its role in DENV infection. We studied the interaction of the virus with GM1a using fluorescence correlation spectroscopy, fluorescence crosscorrelation spectroscopy, imaging fluorescence correlation spectroscopy, amide hydrogen/deuterium exchange mass spectrometry, and isothermal titration calorimetry. Additionally, we explored the effect of this interaction on infectivity and movement of the virus during infection was explored using plaque assay and fluorescence-based imaging and single particle tracking. GM1a was deemed to interact with DENV at domain I (DI) and domain II (DII) of the E protein of the protein coat at quaternary contacts of a fully assembled virus, leading to a 10-fold and 7-fold increase in infectivity for DENV1 and DENV2 in mammalian cell systems, respectively. We determined that the interaction of the virus with GM1a triggers a speeding up of virus movement on live cell surfaces, possibly resulting from a reduction in rigidity of cellular rafts during infection. Collectively, our results suggest that GM1a functions as a coreceptor/attachment factor for DENV during infection in mammalian systems.

This paper discusses about the current trends and techniques of Artificial Intelligence [AI] with latest technologies for structured and unstructured applications.

Flaviviruses are simple enveloped viruses exhibiting complex structural and functional heterogeneities. Decades of research have provided crucial basic insights, antiviral medication and moderately successful gene therapy trials. The most infectious particle is, however, not always the most abundant one in a population, questioning the utility of classic ensemble-averaging virology approaches. Indeed, viral replication is often not particularly efficient, prone to errors or containing parallel routes. Here, we review different single-molecule sensitive fluorescence methods that are employed to investigate flaviviruses. In particular, we review how (i) time-resolved Förster resonance energy transfer (trFRET) was applied to probe dengue envelope conformations; (ii) FRET-fluorescence correlation spectroscopy to investigate dengue envelope intrinsic dynamics and (iii) single particle tracking to follow the path of dengue viruses in cells. We also discuss how such methods may be supported by molecular dynamics (MD) simulations over a range of spatio-temporal scales, to provide complementary data on the structure and dynamics of flaviviral systems. We describe recent improvements in multiscale MD approaches that allowed the simulation of dengue particle envelopes in near-atomic resolution. We hope this review is an incentive for setting up and applying similar single-molecule studies and combine them with MD simulations to investigate structural dynamics of entire flavivirus particles over the nanosecond-to-millisecond time-scale and follow viruses during infection in cells over milliseconds to minutes.

Granitoids from Pindwara–Abu Road Belt (PARB) are studied to characterize their tectonostratigraphic status in relation to the associated metasediments. The PARB lies along the southern swathes of the Mesoproterozoic Delhi Supergroup (DSG) in the Aravalli Delhi Mobile Belt (ADMB) of the northwestern Indian Shield. The outcrop scale granitoids of the study area are categorized into massive and gneissic variants. The former variety is being prominently exposed as leucocratic variant intrusive into the melanocratic gneisses as well as associated metasediments. Massive intrusive granitoids have been dated previously representing three major regional thermal events of 1000, 850, and 750 Ma. These multiple tectono-thermal events have led to diminished preservation of pristine gneissic character in the granitoids outcropping as dismembered bodies in the PARB. Consequently, the field relationship between the granitoids and associated metasediments is extremely obliterated. The present study, with the help of regional and detailed mapping on different scales and petrography, has attempted to establish basement–cover relationship between the gneissic granitoids and the associated metasediments. Quartzite outcrops are delineated as marker horizons characterizing the contact lithounit between the two. The cover rocks have sheared contact with the gneissic basement, which has a limited patchy outcrop pattern as ‘Remnants’. These ‘Remnant’ outcrops, conceivably behaved as primitive relicts, perhaps acted as a cradle for the proximal metasediments. Earlier studies, based on heavy carbon isotope character, have given an age span of ~1200–1300 Ma for the associated calcareous metasediments of the PARB. The gneissic granitoid, basement to these metasediments, is hence considered to be pre-1300 Ma, older than the massive granitoids (1000–750 Ma). The span of events reveals that the southern terrane of the DSG of rocks, especially the PARB has a younger geological history as compared to the northern terrane of the Delhi Supergroup which has records of 1700–1400 Ma. The events recorded from the PARB of the DSG are younger in age and indicate Meso-Neoproterozoic transition (~1300–750 Ma). Globally, these are correlatable with the Grenvillian orogeny followed by Rodinia Supercontinent, amalgamation, and splitting tectonism in the northwestern Indian Shield.

Therefore, we determined how DENV2C affects structural functionality of the capsid-coding region hairpin element (cHP) during annealing and strand displacement of the 9-nt cyclization sequence (5CS) and its complementary 3CS. cHP has two distinct functions: a role in translation start codon selection and a role in RNA synthesis. Our results showed that cHP impedes annealing between 5CS and 3CS. Although DENV2C does not modulate structural functionality of cHP, it accelerates annealing and specifically promotes strand displacement of 3CS during 5′-3′ panhandle formation. Furthermore, DENV2C exerts its chaperone activity by favouring one of the active conformations of cHP. Based on our results, we propose mechanisms for annealing and strand displacement involving cHP. Thus, our results provide mechanistic insights into how DENV2C regulates RNA synthesis by modulating essential RNA elements in the capsid-coding region, that in turn allow for DENV replication.

Background There is an urgent need to fill the gap of scalable cognitive assessment tools for preschool children to enable identification of children at-risk of sub-optimal development and to support their timely referral into interventions. We present the associations between growth in early childhood, a well-established marker of cognitive development, and scores on a novel digital cognitive assessment tool called DEvelopmental Assessment on an E-Platform (DEEP) on a sample of 3-year old pre-schoolers from a rural region in north India. Methods Between February 2018 and March 2019, 1359 children from the Sustainable Programme Incorporating Nutrition and Games (SPRING) programme were followed up at 3-years age and data on DEEP, anthropometry and a clinical developmental assessment, the Bayley's Scale of Infant and Toddler Development, 3rd edition (BSID-III) was collected. DEEP data from 200 children was used to train a machine learning algorithm to predict their score on the cognitive domain of BSID-III. The DEEP score of the remaining 1159 children was then predicted using this algorithm to examine the cross-sectional and prospective association of growth with the DEEP score. Findings The magnitude of the concurrent positive association between height-for-age and cognitive z-scores in 3-year olds was similar when cognition was measured by BSID-III (0.20 standard deviations increase for every unit change in specifically age-adjusted height (HAZ), 95% CI = 0.06–0.35) and DEEP (0.26 CI, 0.11–0.41). A similar positive prospective relationship was found between growth at 18 (0.21 CI, 0.17–0.26) and 12-months (0.18 CI, 0.13–0.23) and DEEP score measured at 3-years. Additionally, the relationship between growth and cognitive development was found to be dependant on socioeconomic status (SES). Interpretation In this study, we suggest the utility of DEEP, a scalable, digital cognitive assessment tool, to measure cognition in preschool children. Further validation in different and larger datasets is necessary to confirm our findings. Renewable energy sources have played a vital role in the production of electricity due to its reliable, cost-effective, and sustainable configuration. Many sources have been installed due to their different operating characteristics and climatic conditions. Researchers have also found numerous experimental areas in order to achieve better system performance under the influence of different parameters. In power generation solar energy has been taken as renewable energy source due to its enhanced clean and green technologies and to fulfill energy shortages of any country. This paper has been dealt with different modeling approaches under different climatic conditions like solar irradiance and temperature. Review of different types of solar PV cell architecture has been presented with their entire characteristics.

The capsid protein of Dengue Virus strain 2 (DENV2C) is a structural protein with RNA chaperone activity that promotes multiple nucleic acid structural rearrangements, critical for transcription of the single-stranded positive-sense DENV2 genomic RNA. Annealing of the conserved 5’ untranslated region (5’UTR) to either its complementary sequence or to the 3’ untranslated region (3’UTR) occurs during (+)/(−) ds-RNA formation and (+) RNA circularization, respectively, both essential steps during DENV RNA replication. We investigated the effect of DENV2C on the annealing mechanism of two hairpin structures from the 5’UTR region (21-nt upstream AUG region (5’UAR) and 23-nt capsid-coding hairpin (5’cHP)) to their complementary sequences during (+)/(−) ds-RNA formation and (+) RNA circularization. Using fluorescence spectroscopy, DENV2C was found to switch annealing reactions nucleated mainly through kissing-loop intermediates to stem-stem interactions during (+)/(−) ds-RNA formation while it promotes annealing mainly through kissing-loop interactions during the (+) RNA circularization. Using FRET-FCS and trFRET, we determined that DENV2C exerts RNA chaperone activities by modulating intrinsic dynamics and by reducing the kinetically trapped unfavorable conformations of the 5’UTR sequence. Thus, DENV2C is likely to facilitate genome folding into functional conformations required for replication, playing a role in modulating (+)/(−) ds-RNA formation and (+) RNA circularization.
