Landslides are natural phenomena, causing serious fatalities and negative impacts on socioeconomic. The Three Gorges Reservoir (TGR) area of China is characterized by more prone to landslides for the rainfall and variation of reservoir level. Prediction of landslide displacement is favorable for the establishment of early geohazard warning system. Conventional machine learning methods as forecasting models often suffer gradient disappearance and explosion, or training is slow. Hence, a dynamic method for displacement prediction of the step-wise landslide is provided, which is based on gated recurrent unit (GRU) model with time series analysis. The establishment process of this method is interpreted and applied to Erdaohe landslide induced by multi-factors in TGR area: the accumulative displacements of landslide are obtained by the global positioning system; the measured accumulative displacements is decomposed into the trend and periodic displacements by moving average method; the predictive trend displacement is fitted by a cubic polynomial; and the periodic displacement is obtained by the GRU model training. And the support vector machine (SVM) model and GRU model are used as comparisons. It is verified that the proposed method can quite accurately predict the displacement of the landslide, which benefits for effective early geological hazards warning system. Key message: The transcription factor (TF) IbERF71 forms a novel complex, IbERF71-IbMYB340-IbbHLH2, to coregulate anthocyanin biosynthesis by binding to the IbANS1 promoter in purple-fleshed sweet potatoes. Purple-fleshed sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas L.) is very popular because of its abundant anthocyanins, which are natural pigments with multiple physiological functions. TFs involved in regulating anthocyanin biosynthesis have been identified in many plants. However, the molecular mechanism of anthocyanin biosynthesis in purple-fleshed sweet potatoes has rarely been examined. In this study, TF IbERF71 and its partners were screened by bioinformatics and RT-qPCR analysis. The results showed that the expression levels of IbERF71 and partners IbMYB340 and IbbHLH2 were higher in purple-fleshed sweet potatoes than in other colors and that the expression levels positively correlated with anthocyanin contents. Moreover, transient expression assays showed that cotransformation of IbMYB340+IbbHLH2 resulted in anthocyanin accumulation in tobacco leaves and strawberry receptacles, and additional IbERF71 significantly increased visual aspects. Furthermore, the combination of the three TFs significantly increased the expression levels of FvANS and FvGST, which are involved in anthocyanin biosynthesis and transport of strawberry receptacles. The dual-luciferase reporter system verified that cotransformation of the three TFs enhanced the transcription activity of IbANS1. In addition, yeast two-hybrid and firefly luciferase complementation assays revealed that IbMYB340 interacted with IbbHLH2 and IbERF71 but IbERF71 could not interact with IbbHLH2 in vitro. In summary, our findings provide novel evidence that IbERF71 and IbMYB340-IbbHLH2 form the regulatory complex IbERF71-IbMYB340-IbbHLH2 that coregulates anthocyanin accumulation by binding to the IbANS1 promoter in purple-fleshed sweet potatoes. In the present study, the feasibility of sugarcane top (ST) application in the goat’s diet was evaluated. A total of 20 goats were randomly divided into four groups. The dietary treatments were set as follows: animals were fed with king grass (KG), KG with exogenous enzymes (KGE), ST, and ST with exogenous enzymes (STE). The animals were given free access to feed and water. After 15 days of adaptation and 60 days of the experiment, the growth performance, plasma parameters, and rumen microbiota of goats were assessed. The results showed that the KG, ST, and exogenous enzyme supplement had no significant effects on the growth performance and plasma parameters. The diet affected the rumen microbiota diversity and structure, and the alpha and beta diversity in the animals fed with ST were dramatically greater compared with the animals fed with KG. The abundances of Proteobacteria, Cyanobacteria, and Elusimicrobia were significantly decreased in the animals fed with KG or KGE, while the abundances of Firmicutes and Euryarchaeota were significantly higher in the animals fed with KG or KGE. Furthermore, the microbial communities were also different at the genus level. Moreover, the exogenous enzymes had a slight effect on rumen microbiota. Linear discriminant analysis effect size (LEfSe) analysis showed that the greatest differences were found in bacterial taxa, and these specific taxa could be used as biomarkers to distinguish rumen microbiota. Phylogenetic Investigation of Communities by Reconstruction of Unobserved States (PICRUSt) functional profile prediction indicated that the dietary treatments of ST and KG could also alter the gene expression pattern in nutrient and energy metabolism, as well as replication and repair of genetic information pathways. Collectively, the dietary treatments of KG and ST in the absence or presence of exogenous enzymes had similar effects on the growth performance and plasma parameters of goats. Besides, the KG and ST diets could affect the rumen microbiota community and function of goats. Recent studies reveal that glycerol monolaurate (GML) is regarded as an effective feed supplement in the production of broilers; however, the underlying mechanism remains unknown. The current study aimed to investigate how GML affected production performance and meat quality in yellow-feathered broilers. A total of 528 chicks were randomly assigned into four groups for a 56-day feeding trial. The control group received a basal diet, and the treated groups fed basal diet containing 300 (GML300), 450 (GML450), and 600 (GML600) mg/kg GML. Results revealed that dietary GML notably increased the average daily feed intake (p < 0.05) and body weight in broilers during 28–56 days of age and improved the duodenum and jejunum morphology. Dietary GML increased the total cholesterol in broilers (p < 0.05), but the hepatic, abdominal, and muscular fat deposition, as well as muscle fatty acids, were not affected. The flavor amino acids and total amino acids in muscle of GML300 and GML 450 groups were notably (p < 0.05) increased. GML supplementation selectively increased the colonization of an unclassified genus of Lachnospiraceae family and Bifidobacteriaceae, which were significantly (p < 0.05) correlated with the increase of muscle amino acids. Meanwhile, dietary GML notably increased short chain fatty acids content and the microbial DNA abundance of carbohydrate, amino acids and lipid metabolism pathway in cecum. These findings demonstrated that dietary GML improved performance, intestinal morphology, and muscle amino acids in broilers mainly by manipulating community, function and metabolites of gut microbiota. Purpose: Data from in vitro and animal studies support the preventive effect of tea (Camellia sinensis) against colorectal cancer. Further, many epidemiologic studies evaluated the association between tea consumption and colorectal cancer risk, but the results were inconsistent. We conducted a meta-analysis of prospective cohort studies to systematically assess the association between tea consumption and colorectal cancer risk. Methods: A comprehensive literature review was conducted to identify the related articles by searching PubMed and Embase up to June, 2019. Summary relative risks (RRs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were calculated using a fixed effect model. Results: Twenty cohort articles were included in the present meta-analysis involving 2,068,137 participants and 21,437 cases. The combined RR of colorectal cancer for the highest vs. lowest tea consumption was determined to 0.97 (95% CI 0.94–1.01) with marginal heterogeneity (I2 = 24.0%, P = 0.093) among all studies. This indicated that tea consumption had no significant association with colorectal cancer risk. Stratified analysis showed that no significant differences were found in all subgroups. We further conducted the gender-specific meta-analysis for deriving a more precise estimation. No significant association was observed between tea consumption and colorectal cancer risk in male (combined RR = 0.97; 95% CI 0.90–1.04). However, tea consumption had a marginal significant inverse impact on colorectal cancer risk in female (combined RR = 0.93; 95% CI 0.86–1.00). Further, we found a stronger inverse association between tea consumption and risk of colorectal cancer among the female studies with no adjustment of coffee intake (RR: 0.90; 95% CI 0.82–1.00, P < 0.05) compared to the female studies that adjusted for coffee intake (RR = 0.97; 95% CI 0.87–1.09, P > 0.05). Conclusions: Our finding indicates that tea consumption has no significant impact on the colorectal cancer risk in both genders combined, but gender-specific meta-analysis shows that tea consumption has a marginal significant inverse impact on colorectal cancer risk in female. A variety of nonlinear circuits can be tamed to reproduce the main dynamical properties in neural activities for biological neurons while designing reliable artificial synapses for connecting these neural circuits becomes a challenge. In this paper, a Josephson junction is used to build coupling channel for connecting two FitzHugh-Nagumo neural circuits driven by periodical voltage source. The hybrid synapse is designed by using a linear resistor paralleled with a Josephson junction, which can estimate the effect of external magnetic field by generating additive phase error between the junction. Indeed, it activates nonlinear coupling due to phase diversity in the Josephson junction. The coupled circuits are estimated in dimensionless dynamical systems by applying scale transformation on the variables and parameters in neural circuits. In fact, the intrinsic parameters of coupling channel are adjusted to detect the occurrence of synchronization. Bifurcation analysis is calculated to predict and confirm the occurrence of synchronization between two neural circuits. It is found that synchronization can be stabilized between two FHN neural circuits by selecting appropriate values for parameters in the Josephson junction involved in the coupling channel. The microwave pyrolysis system was used to study the effects of mixed additives on the microwave pyrolysis of Dunaliella salina. The mixed additive is a mixture of SiC and Na2CO3. The different weights of addition (5%, 10%, and 20%) of mixed additives, different mixing ratios (SiC:Na2CO3 = 0:10, 3:7, 5:5, and 6:4), and different kinds of additives (single additive and mixed additive) were studied. According to the findings, when the catalyst was 5% Na2CO3, the total weight loss (Mt) was maximum. The minimum Mt occurred at the 5% SiC group; when the mixed additive weight of addition was 10% and the mixing ratio of SiC:Na2CO3 = 5:5, the average weight loss rate (Rv) and weight loss rate for the first peak (Rp1) were maximum, and the time corresponding to the first peak (tp1) was minimum. Besides, SiC and Na2CO3 had a cooperative action when the mixed additive weight of addition was 10% and the mixing ratio of SiC:Na2CO3 = 5:5. For the total electricity consumption in microwave pyrolysis and oil and gas production per unit of electricity consumption, the mixed additive group with the weight of addition was 10% and the mixing ratio of SiC:Na2CO3 = 5:5 was better. In practical conditions, the remediation efficiency is always very limited due to the rapid aggregation and deactivation of nanoscale zero-valent iron (nZVI). Porous SiO2-coated technology can effectively suppress the agglomeration and oxidation of nZVI particle, resulting in the excellent dispersion and stability in water. A series of characterization results show that the porous SiO2-coated Fe0 (Fe0@p-SiO2) was a core-shell structure composite, with Fe0 as the core and the porous SiO2 as the shell. Moreover, the prepared composite material has a large specific surface area (244.04 m2/g). The experiments of nitrobenzene (NB) reduction and one-dimensional simulation column indicated that the different amounts of NaOH in the preparation process lead to the different structures, shapes, and particle sizes of prepared composite materials, which have significant effects on its activity and transportability. Under the conditions investigated, the optimum ratio of Fe0@p-SiO2 synthesis was nFe3+:n(Tetraethoxy silane, TEOS):nNaOH = 1:1.85:1.19, and the corresponding reduction efficiency of NB to aniline (AN) and maximum normalized outflow concentration (Cmax/C0) was 100% and 0.79, respectively. The SiO2-coated technology gives nZVI preparation greater control over the structure, shape, and particle size of modified nZVI composite, which has great potential in in situ remediation of groundwater contamination. Preterm infants with periventricular–intraventricular hemorrhage (PV–IVH) have a high risk of neurological sequelae, with severity depending on the severity of the PV–IVH. Previous studies on the pathogenesis of PV–IVH have focused mainly on comparisons of perinatal risk factors between patients with and without PV–IVH. Notably, most cases of PV–IVH occur within the first 3 days after birth, and the condition may worsen within 1 week following the initial diagnosis. However, the risk factors that contribute to the deterioration of PV–IVH have not been investigated. In this cohort study, 514 PV–IVH infants with a gestational age (GA) < 32 weeks were enrolled. The dependent variable was initially diagnosed as mild PV–IVH (grade I or II) that subsequently progressed to severe PV–IVH (grade III or IV) within 1 week. A stepwise forward multivariate logistic regression model was adopted to select potential or related factors that affected the deterioration of PV–IVH in preterm infants. Overall, 42 of the 514 infants with PV–IVH (8.2%) showed deterioration within 1 week. The results showed that maternal lower genital tract infection (OR 3.73, 95% CI 1.75–7.95) was an independent risk factor for PV–IVH deterioration. Higher GA (OR 0.62, 95% CI 0.48–0.80) was a protective factor. Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) has been in use for nearly 100 years and is the only licensed TB vaccine. While BCG provides protection against disseminated TB in infants, its protection against adult pulmonary tuberculosis (PTB) is variable. To achieve the ambitious goal of eradicating TB worldwide by 2050, there is an urgent need to develop novel TB vaccines. Currently, there are more than a dozen novel TB vaccines including prophylactic and therapeutic at different stages of clinical research. This literature review provides an overview of the clinical status of candidate TB vaccines and discusses the challenges and future development trends of novel TB vaccine research in combination with the efficacy of evaluation of TB vaccines, provides insight for the development of safer and more efficient vaccines, and may inspire new ideas for the prevention of TB. Most triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) patients fail to respond to T cell-mediated immunotherapies. Unfortunately, the molecular determinants are still poorly understood. Breast cancer is the disease genetically linked to a deficiency in autophagy. Here, we show that autophagy defects in TNBC cells inhibit T cell-mediated tumour killing in vitro and in vivo. Mechanistically, we identify Tenascin-C as a candidate for autophagy deficiency-mediated immunosuppression, in which Tenascin-C is Lys63-ubiquitinated by Skp2, particularly at Lys942 and Lys1882, thus promoting its recognition by p62 and leading to its selective autophagic degradation. High Tenascin-C expression is associated with poor prognosis and inversely correlated with LC3B expression and CD8+ T cells in TNBC patients. More importantly, inhibition of Tenascin-C in autophagy-impaired TNBC cells sensitizes T cell-mediated tumour killing and improves antitumour effects of single anti-PD1/PDL1 therapy. Our results provide a potential strategy for targeting TNBC with the combination of Tenascin-C blockade and immune checkpoint inhibitors. MicroRNA (miRNA) has been reported to exert important functions in papillary thyroid carcinomas (PTC). However, the role of miRNA in aggressive PTC (APTC) remains unclear. Here, we investigated the diagnostic potentials and mechanisms of miR-221/222 in APTC. Results showed that miR-221/222 were markedly up-regulated in PTC, compared with the adjacent normal tissue (ANT). A high expression of miR-221/222 were associated with a primary tumor, regional lymph node, and distant metastasis (TNM) stage, multicentricity, lymph node metastasis, and extra-thyroidal extension. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis indicated that miR-221/222 could be used as APTC diagnostic markers. Moreover, miR-221/222 tremendously promoted migration and invasion and inhibited apoptosis and autophagy in PTC cells. A luciferase assay showed that miR-221/222 inhibited the fluorescent activity of autophagy-related protein 10 (ATG10). Furthermore, miR-221/222 decreased ATG10 mRNA and protein levels. Silencing of ATG10 significantly abrogated the effect of miR-221/222 on apoptosis and autophagy. Cabbage (Brassica oleracea var. capitata) is one of the most important cruciferous leafy vegetable crops and is widely cultivated all over the world. Its yield and quality are often affected by diseases such as cabbage black rot. 2R is a cabbage line that is newly resistant to black rot, which was created by radiation mutagenesis and backcross transfer. However, the underlying molecular bases and mechanisms of early-phase response of different resistant cabbage lines against black rot infections remain unknown. Here, we completed a comprehensive transcriptome profile analysis between resistant (2R) and susceptible (2T) cabbage lines after black rot inoculations. The results showed that the typical V-shaped lesions were found in inoculated plants after 15 days, and the symptoms in the susceptible cabbage lines (2T) were significant severe than that of the resistant 2R line. A total of 10,030 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were identified, of which 384 DEGs were found to overlap in resistant and susceptible cabbage lines after black rot infections, suggesting those DEGs may play more important roles in cabbage early responses to black rot infections. We ranked the expression levels of DEGs among the four comparison sets of resistant and susceptible cabbage lines and, interestingly, found the top ten differential expression genes contained NBS-LRR genes, protein kinase genes and expansin genes. These findings provide a comprehensive differential transcriptome profile between resistant and susceptible cabbage lines and indicate some genes play key roles in the regulation of early response to black rot infections, which will help to understand the molecular resistance of cabbage against these infections. To discuss combinations of traditional screening and noninvasive prenatal screening (NIPS) and to compare which traditional screening is the most suitable first-line screening approach to NIPS, pregnant women were recruited in this retrospective observational study. Pregnant women underwent one of four traditional screening tests. The 9 contingent models were combined by high risk cut-offs of 1:50, 1:100, 1:270 and intermediate risk cut-offs of 1:1000, 1:1500, 1:2000. We analyzed cost and performance of various screening models with contingent screening of different risk cut-offs. Compared with other screening tests, combined first-trimester screening (CFTS) had the lowest proportion of high risk (≥1:270) with the highest detection rate (DR) (78.79%) and the lowest proportion of intermediate risk (1:271~1:1000). When intermediate risk was 1:51 ~1:1500, CFTS as first-line screening had the lowest cost with DR of 93.94%. Other screening tests as the first-line screening with intermediate risk of 1:51~1:1000 had the lowest cost, there DR were 90.91%, 84.62%, 91.67%, respectively. Our study demonstrated if only one traditional screening was allowed to screen pregnant women, CFTS was recommended as the first choice. According to local health and economic conditions, adopting appropriate traditional screening with suitable cut-offs as first-line screening will contributed to a cost-effective screening model. Hypertensive disorders in pregnancy (HDPs) are leading perinatal diseases. Using a national cohort of 2,043,182 pregnant women in China, we evaluated the association between ambient temperatures and HDP subgroups, including preeclampsia or eclampsia, gestational hypertension, and superimposed preeclampsia. Under extreme temperatures, very cold exposure during preconception (12 weeks) increases odds of preeclampsia or eclampsia and gestational hypertension. Compared to preconception, in the first half of pregnancy, the impact of temperature on preeclampsia or eclampsia and gestational hypertension is opposite. Cold exposure decreases the odds, whereas hot exposure increases the odds. Under average temperatures, a temperature increase during preconception decreases the risk of preeclampsia or eclampsia and gestational hypertension. However, in the first half of pregnancy, temperature is positively associated with a higher risk. No significant association is observed between temperature and superimposed preeclampsia. Here we report a close relationship exists between ambient temperature and preeclampsia or eclampsia and gestational hypertension. Hypertensive disorders in pregnancy are prevalent perinatal diseases. The recently established resource theory of quantum coherence allows for a quantitative understanding of the superposition principle, with applications reaching from quantum computing to quantum biology. While different quantifiers of coherence have been proposed in the literature, their efficient estimation in today's experiments remains a challenge. Here, we introduce a collective measurement scheme for estimating the amount of coherence in quantum states, which requires entangled measurements on two copies of the state. As we show by numerical simulations, our scheme outperforms other estimation methods based on tomography or adaptive measurements, leading to a higher precision in a large parameter range for estimating established coherence quantifiers of qubit and qutrit states. Clopidol is one of the most widely used anti-coccidiosis drugs. Its residues in poultry products and the environment pose a serious threat to human health. In this work, microwave-assisted synthesis of magnetic ionic liquid/gold nanoparticles (MIL-Au NPs) as the SERS substrates were first designed for sensitive and reliable determination of clopidol residue in egg samples. The experiment shows that MIL(1-methyl-3-hexyl imidazole ferric tetrachloride ([C6mim]FeCl4)) and microwave play a key role in the dispersion and morphology of Au NPs. Under the optimal conditions, the as-prepared MIL-Au NPs were applied to the SERS detection of clopidol in methanol and egg solution and its detection limits can be as low as to 0.5 μg/kg (equal to 0.5 ppb) in both solutions. The standard curves with regression coefficients of 0.9298 and 0.93496 were constructed in the linear range of 100–1000 ppb and 0.5–50 ppb for clopidol in egg solutions. Moreover, satisfactory recoveries (97.5–103.2%) were obtained for egg samples. The developed SERS method provides a way for quantitation of clopidol and can be applied for the convenient, reliable, and highly sensitive detection of antibiotic residues in food and environment, which has great potential in food safety and biological monitoring. Coastal vegetation is capable of decreasing wave run-up. However, because of regrowth, decay or man-made damage, coastal vegetation is always distributed in patches, and its internal distribution is often non-uniform. This study investigates the effects of patchy vegetation on solitary wave run-up by using a numerical simulation. A numerical model based on fully nonlinear Boussinesq equations is established to simulate the wave propagation on a slope with patchy vegetation. By using the model, the process of solitary wave run-up attenuation due to patchy vegetation is numerically analysed. The numerical results reveal that patchy vegetation can considerably attenuate the wave run-up in an effective manner. In addition, high-density patched vegetation can attenuate the solitary wave run-up more effectively than low-density patched vegetation can. For the same density, patchy vegetation with a uniform distribution has a better attenuation effect on wave run-up compared to that of patchy vegetation with a non-uniform distribution. Dynamics in fractional order systems has been discussed extensively for presenting a possible guidance in the field of applied mathematics and interdisciplinary science. Within hundreds and thousands of reviews, regular papers and drafts, many fractional differential equations are presented for enjoying mathematical proof without clarifying the scientific background and physical principles. It seems that all nonlinear problems on integer order systems even networks can be confirmed as fractional order systems. This mini-review gives an appropriate clarification on fractional dynamical systems from the physical viewpoint, thereby presenting sufficient evidences for further study on fractional calculus. We argued that non-uniform diffusion, boundary effect and elastic deformation account for the calculation and estimation with fractional order on some physical variables, which can be mapped into dimensionless variables in the dynamical systems. Generally, resonant optical gyroscopes (ROG) based on the Sagnac effect are very sensitive to the changes of temperature and optical power, which directly affects the output of the gyroscope. To improve the frequency lock-in accuracy and thermal stability of ROG system, the technology of laser frequency combination tuning and locking is proposed and experimentally demonstrated. Using the characteristics of voltage and temperature tuning wavelength of semiconductor laser, the output frequency range of laser is increased, the temperature control system of the resonant cavity can be removed and the gyro can never be unlocked in theory. In addition, the frequency lock-in accuracy under light power fluctuation is improved. Using this technique, a long-term (1-h) bias stability of 24.7 °/h is observed. We aimed to investigate the prevalence of true rectocele and obstructed defecation (OD) in patients with pelvic organ prolapse (POP), to investigate the correlation between true rectocele and OD, and to understand the diagnostic value of translabial ultrasound (TLUS) in the diagnosis of true rectocele. The patients who scheduled for POP surgery were enrolled in this study. Patients who had previous reconstructive pelvic surgery or repair of rectocele were excluded. Birmingham Bowel and Urinary symptoms questionnaires and Longo's obstructed defecation syndrome scoring system were used to assess the bowel symptoms of patients. TLUS was used to evaluate anatomical defects. P value <0.05 was considered statistically significant, and confidence intervals were set at 95%. 279 patients were included into this study. The prevalence rate of OD was 43%, and the average value of ODS score was 6.67. 17% patients presented straining at stool, 33% presented incomplete emptying, 13% presented digitations, and 12% required laxatives or enema. The prevalence rate of true rectocele was 23%. Defecation symptoms were significantly correlated with age, levator-ani hiatus, levator-ani muscle injury and true rectocele. Logistic regression showed that true rectocele and increased levator-ani hiatus were independent risk factors of OD. True rectocele was significantly correlated with straining at stool, digitation, incomplete emptying and requirement of laxatives or enema.In POP patients, the prevalence rate of true rectocele and OD was 23% and 43%, respectively. A wireless powered small volume light source composed of light emitting diode (LED) array is developed for implantation. According to the volt-ampere characteristics of LED and the load characteristics of coil coupling power supply, the light power and work distance of implant LED-array are optimized by changing the number and series-parallel connection mode of LEDs in receiver. The wireless powered implant can provide 5.4 mW light. The entire implant is seamlessly packaged within parylene, a biocompatible material, coating by chemical vapor depositing. The volume of the implant is 9 mm×4 mm×3 mm, the weight of which is only 0.25 g. The device can work continuously for more than three weeks in 0.9% saline and the prime prototype of the device has been validated by animal implantation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Echinococcosis is a serious zoonotic parasitic disease that could be fatal without diagnosis and treatment in a timely manner. Herein, we present a rapid and label-free method for screening of echinococcosis using surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS). Three groups of serum SERS spectra based on porous silicon/silver composites are obtained: one group from healthy volunteers (normal, n = 163) and two other groups from patients with pathologically confirmed echinococcosis (cystic echinococcosis (CE), n = 69 and alveolar echinococcosis (AE), n = 38). The derived characteristic spectrum was analyzed to explain differences between echinococcosis and healthy volunteers and a principal component analysis (PCA) was applied for classification. Raman spectra revealed that high sensitivity and specificity for echinococcosis diagnosis were associated with the contents of phenylalanine and tyrosine. In addition, Raman spectroscopy analysis identified two metabolites including phenylalanine and carotenoids that could distinguish three types of serum. Orthogonal partial least squares discriminant analysis (OPLS-DA) was successfully used as a discriminative model to classify echinococcosis with the highest sensitivity and specificity of 100% and 98.6%, respectively. Combination of serum metabolomics with SERS enabled accurate screening of echinococcosis patients. The molecular pathways underlying the development of innate lymphoid cells (ILCs) are mostly unknown. Here we show that TGF-β signaling programs the development of ILC2s from their progenitors. Specifically, the deficiency of TGF-β receptor II in bone marrow progenitors results in inefficient development of ILC2s, but not ILC1s or ILC3s. Mechanistically, TGF-β signaling is required for the generation and maintenance of ILC2 progenitors (ILC2p). In addition, TGF-β upregulates the expression of the IL-33 receptor gene Il1rl1 (encoding IL-1 receptor-like 1, also known as ST2) in ILC2p and common helper-like innate lymphoid progenitors (CHILP), at least partially through the MEK-dependent pathway. These findings identify a function of TGF-β in the development of ILC2s from their progenitors. TGF-β is thought to be important for group 2 innate lymphoid cell (ILC2) function. Although it is well-known and established that light plays important roles in plant development, up to now, there is no substantial improvements in how to deal with the light factor of spring phenology under natural condition. By monitoring the local meteorologic data and mature dates of two types (male and female) of flower from four pecan cultivars during 9 years, it was found that the complementary pattern of growing degree day and sunshine duration helped to maintain a threshold of driving force related to the maturity of pecan flower during 9 years. A novel photothermal time model based on the linear combination of growing degree day and sunshine duration was then proposed and validated to interpret the variance of mature dates of pecan cultivars. Comparative analysis showed that the new model had made extremely significant improvements to the traditional thermal time model. In addition, this model introduced the conversion coefficient K, which quantified the effect of light on the flowering drive, and revealed the differences of base temperature among cultivars. This was the first time that sunshine duration instead of photoperiod was adopted to develop into a verified model on spring phenological event of tree species. This article presents a brief overview of recent advances in azo-containing supramolecular systems. In literature, it has been shown that azo supramolecular polymers and their composite materials exhibit fast and intelligent responses to various external stimuli, such as temperature, pH change, redox reagents, ligands, coupling reagents, etc. In applications, these systems are widely used for molecular motors, shape memory, liquid crystal, solar thermal energy storage, signal transmission, intelligent encryption, and other purposes. Furthermore, these systems can function as key components for device upgrade processing. However, the design and rules of azo supramolecular polymers are still not supported by an exact theory. Information about the relationship between the spatial structure and behavior is lacking, and new supramolecular materials cannot be designed by adding functional moieties to known azo polymers. Based on the current research status, this review mainly summarizes the structural design principles as well as structures and applications of known azo supramolecules; meanwhile, it highlights the emerging development fields, recent advances, and prospects in fabricating self-assembling intelligent supramolecular systems with azo supramolecular polymers as responsive units. The goal of this review is to bring new inspiration to researchers who want to optimize the chemical structure, steric conformation, electrostatic environment, and specific molecular functionalization. The E3 ubiquitin ligases are key regulators of protein ubiquitination, which have been shown to be involved in a variety of cellular responses to both biotic and abiotic stresses in eukaryotes. However, the E3 ubiquitin ligase homologues in the soil-borne plant pathogen Plasmodiophora brassicae, the causal agent of clubroot disease of crucifer crops worldwide, remain largely unknown. In this study, we characterized secreted E3 ubiquitin ligases, a group of proteins known to be involved in virulence in many pathogens, in a plasmodiophorid P. brassicae. Genome-wide search in the P. brassicae genome retrieved 139 putative E3 ubiquitin ligases, comprising of 115 RING, 15 HECT, 1 HECT-like, and 8 U-box E3 ubiquitin ligases. Among these E3 ubiquitin ligases, 11 RING, 1 U-box, and 3 HECT were found to harbor signal peptide. Based on published RNA-seq data (Schwelm et al. in Sci Rep 5:11153, 2015), we found that these genes were differentially expressed in distinct life stages including germinating spores, maturing spores, and plasmodia. We characterized one potential secreted E3 ubiquitin ligase, PbRING1 (PBRA_000499). Yeast invertase assay showed that PbRING1 harbors a functional N-terminal signal peptide. PbRING1 also harbors a really interested new gene (RING) domain at its C terminus, which was found to display the E3 ligase activity in vitro. Before uncovering an outburst coal seam in crosscut and shaft, it is necessary to detect the effect of outburst prevention measure applied to the seam, which is a key step and the last link for ensuring the safety of coal miners. However, in the working face where outburst prevention measures have been taken, the large number of densely arranged discharge boreholes, as well as the difficulty in sealing pressure-measuring boreholes, makes it extremely hard to accurately detect the effect of the measure. In order to solve this problem, this paper studied the relationship between the initial rate of gas emission from the borehole (IRGEB) and the outburst danger through carrying out experiments on a self-designed oblong simulation device of outburst coal seam and a detection device of IRGEB. In addition, it proposed a method of testing the prevention effect using the initial volume of gas emission from the borehole (IVGEB) per unit length which actually refers to the time integral of IRGEB per meter. The experimental results show that IVGEB grows with the increase of outburst danger, but its critical value varies with the types of coal seams and gasses. As a result, it may take over 20 days to get the critical value of outburst detection of a specific coal seam. For this reason, this paper presented a simplified method of determining the critical value of IVGEB per unit length. When this method is applied, the total time taken up can be enormously reduced to shorter than 4 h just by drilling another borehole for measuring the IVGEB. The field application results indicate that the method can quickly detect whether outburst danger has been locally eliminated. Reclamation projects are the main method of coastal exploitation, and the hydrodynamic environmental effect, together with the sediment transport response of the reclamation project, is important to the project's site selection and environmental protection. Herein, a 3D numerical model based on the finite volume community ocean model (FVCOM) is applied to simulate the changes in the Meizhou Bay's hydrodynamic environment and sediment transport after a reclamation project. The reclamation project greatly alters the shape of the shoreline and narrows the bay, leading to a significant change in its hydrodynamic environment and sediment transport. After the project, the clockwise coastal residual current in the corner above the Meizhou Island gradually disappears. An obvious counter-clockwise coastal residual current emerges around the rectangular corner. The tidal prism decreases by 0.65 × 109 and 0.44 × 109 m3 in the spring and neap tides, respectively. The residence time presents a major increase. These changes lead to the weakening of the water exchange capacity and the reduction of the self-purification capacity of the bay. Currents in the tidal channel weaken, whilst currents in the horizontal channel strengthen. The strength and scope of particle trajectories around the horizontal channel and the Meizhou Island enhance. The suspended sediment concentration (SSC) increases in the majority of the Meizhou Bay but decreases in the lateral bay. The eastern corner of Z2 shows a tendency to erode. The western region of the Meizhou Island, the upper portion of the rectangular corner and the western corner of Z4 show a tendency to deposit. Played as an important nonlinear electric device, memristor is often used to build a variety of nonlinear circuits, which can produce a variety of modes in oscillation. Due to the memory effect, the dynamics of nonlinear circuits involved with memristor can show distinct transition in oscillation between periodic and chaotic states when the initial values are changed. As a result, a generic initial-dependent dynamical system is built and its memory on initial setting is explained. The physical properties and potential mechanism for resistor-based voltage coupling, memristor coupling, capacitor-based and inductor-based field coupling are explained, respectively. In this review, scale transformation, application of memristor on neurodynamics, time delay, synchronization pattern, particularly, electromagnetic induction and radiation, neuron model setting under field effect, field coupling on signal propagation between nonlinear circuits and neurons are summarized for readers' extensive investigation. The great majority of terrestrial plants produce epicuticular wax that is used to protect plants from a variety of biotic and abiotic stresses. Cabbage epicuticular wax is a white crystalline compound of various lipids. Wax-less cabbage has the characteristics of lustrous green leaves and beautiful exterior, which facilitates the brilliant green cabbage breeding. CGL-3 is a spontaneous wax-less mutant identified from cabbage. Genetic analysis indicated that the waxy deficiency of the mutant was controlled by a single dominant gene. To clarify the mechanism of the waxy deficiency, fine-mapping and transcriptome analysis of the wax-less gene, BoGL-3, were carried out in this study. The result of fine mapping showed that the wax-less gene, BoGL-3, was delimited in a 33.5-kb interval which is between the flanking marker C08-98 and the end of chromosome 8. Two cDNA libraries, constructed with wax-less cabbage CGL-3 and the wild-type cabbage WT, were sequenced for screening of the target gene BoGL-3. A total of 8340 genes were identified with significant differential expression between CGL-3 and WT. Among these genes, 3187 were up-regulated and 5153 were down-regulated in CGL-3. With homologous analysis, four differential expressed genes related to wax metabolism were obtained. Among these four genes, only Bol018504 is located within the region of fine-mapping. Bol08504 is homologous to CER1, which encodes fatty acid hydroxylase and plays an important role in wax synthesis in Arabidopsis. However, there was no difference of Bol08504 sequence between CGL-3 and WT. We suggested that Bol018504 was regulated by BoGL-3. The suppression of Bol018504 leads to the reduction of wax. These findings will be helpful to reveal the mechanism of the wax metabolism in cabbage and develop lustrous green cabbage germplasm material. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Chimera state in neuronal network means the coexistence of synchronized and desynchronized firing patterns. It attracts much attention recently due to its possible relevance to the phenomenon of unihemispheric sleep in mammals. In this paper, we search for chimera state in a noisy small-world neuronal network, in which the neurons are delayed coupled. We found both transient and permanent chimera state when time delay is close to a critical value. The chimera state occurs due to the competition between the synchronized and desynchronized patterns in the neuronal network. On the other hand, intermediate intensity of noise facilitates the occurrence of delay-sustained chimera states. Comparison between noise and delay shows that time delay is the key factor determining the chimera state, whereas noise is a subordinate one. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

For the laser-induced damage (LID) in large-aperture final optics, we present a novel approach of damage online inspection and its experimental system, which solves two problems: classification of true and false LID and size measurement of the LID. We first analyze the imaging principle of the experimental system for the true and false damage sites, then use kernel-based extreme learning machine (K-ELM) to distinguish them, and finally propose hierarchical kernel extreme learning machine (HK-ELM) to predict the damage size. The experimental results show that the classification accuracy is higher than 95%, the mean relative error of the predicted LID size is within 10%. Sea level rise (SLR) can cause water depth increase (WDI) and coastal inundation (CI). By applying the coupled FVCOM + SWAN model, this study investigates the potential impacts of WDI and CI, induced by a 1.0 m SLR, on storm surge and waves within the Yangtze River Estuary. A 1.0 m WDI decreases the maximum storm surge by 0.15 m and increases the maximum significant wave height by 0.35 m. The CI effect size is smaller when compared with WDI. CI decreases the maximum storm surge and significant wave height by 0.04 and 0.07 m, respectively. In the near-shore area, WDI significantly alters the local hydrodynamic environment, thereby stimulating changes in maximum storm surges and wave heights. Low-lying regions are negatively impacted by CI. Conversely, in deep-water areas, the relative change in water depth is minimal and the effect of CI is gradually enhanced. The combined effect of WDI and CI decreases the maximum surge by 0.31 m and increases the maximum significant wave height by 0.21 m. As a result, CI may be neglected when designing deep-water infrastructures. Nonetheless, the complex interactions between adoption and neglect of CI should be simulated to achieve the best seawall flood control standards and design parameters. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Key message: BcMAF2plays a key role in flowering regulation by controllingBcTEM1, BcSOC1andBCSPL15in Pak-choi. Flowering is a key event in the life cycle of plants. Flowering time shows an extensive variation from different Pak-choi (Brassica rapa ssp. chinensis) cultivars. However, the regulation mechanism of flowering in Pak-choi remains rarely known. In this study, a systematic identification and functional analysis of a Pak-choi MADS Affecting Flowering (MAF) gene, BcMAF2, was carried out. BcMAF2 encoded a protein containing a conserved MADS-box domain, which was localized in the nucleus. QPCR analysis indicated that the expression of BcMAF2 was higher in the leaves and flowers. Overexpression of BcMAF2 in Arabidopsis showed that BcMAF2 repressed flowering, which was further confirmed by silencing endogenous BcMAF2 in Pak-choi. In addition, Tempranillo 1 (TEM1) expression was up-regulated and MAF2 expression was down-regulated in the BcMAF2-overexpressing Arabidopsis. The expression of BcMAF2 and BcTEM1 was down-regulated in BcMAF2-silencing Pak-choi plants. The yeast one-hybrid, dual luciferase and qPCR results revealed that BcMAF2 protein could directly bind to BcTEM1 promoter and activate its expression, which was not reported in Arabidopsis. After more than 20 years of development, the exploration and production of multi-bed coalbed methane in western Guizhou is now in a key growth phase. Based on geological characteristics of CBM and requirements of main development engineering in this area, we have looked into suitable fracturing and drainage modes for this area. This study shows that the Liupanshui coalfield has a high stress field, so staged fracturing with large discharge and high volume of fracturing fluid and sand and increase of the used quantity of high strength ceramic beads is effective for this kind of multi-bed coal reservoir. In contrast, Zhina coalfield has a relatively low stress field, and the Qianbei coalfield has transitional stress conditions. Separate layer fracturing by sleeve diverter in the Zhijin block ensures effective fracturing of multi-production layers. This method enhances fracturing efficiency and decreases fracturing cost and is therefore recommended for the whole area. Coiled tubing fracturing widely used in other countries is recommended for the Zhina and Qianbei coalfields. Commingled drainage and production is considered the best choice for the development of multi-bed CBM reservoirs. The basic geologic conditions for commingled drainage production of multiple layers are that the main productive layers can be ensured to produce gas preferentially and smoothly and the critical desorption pressure liquid level of other productive layers are above the roof depth of the main productive layers. On this basis, all the layers can be produced in an orderly manner by regulating the casing pressure and liquid level depth in different draining phases. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Main conclusion: Oleanolic acid glucuronosyltransferase (OAGT) genes synthesizing the direct precursor of oleanane-type ginsenosides were discovered. The four recombinant proteins of OAGT were able to transfer glucuronic acid at C-3 of oleanolic acid that yields oleanolic acid 3-O-β-glucuronide.Ginsenosides are the primary active components in the genus Panax, and great efforts have been made to elucidate the mechanisms underlying dammarane-type ginsenoside biosynthesis. However, there is limited information on oleanane-type ginsenosides. Here, high-performance liquid chromatography analysis demonstrated that oleanane-type ginsenosides (particularly ginsenoside Ro and chikusetsusaponin IV and IVa) are the abundant ginsenosides in Panax zingiberensis, an extremely endangered Panax species in southwest China. These ginsenosides are derived from oleanolic acid 3-O-β-glucuronide, which may be formed from oleanolic acid catalyzed by an unknown oleanolic acid glucuronosyltransferase (OAGT). Transcriptomic analysis of leaves, stems, main roots, and fibrous roots of P. zingiberensis was performed, and a total of 46,098 unigenes were obtained, including all the identified homologous genes involved in ginsenoside biosynthesis. The most upstream genes were highly expressed in the leaves, and the UDP-glucosyltransferase genes were highly expressed in the roots. This finding indicated that the precursors of ginsenosides are mainly synthesized in the leaves and transported to different parts for the formation of particular ginsenosides. For the first time, enzyme activity assay characterized four genes (three from P. zingiberensis and one from P. japonicus var. major, another Panax species with oleanane-type ginsenosides) encoding OAGT, which particularly transfer glucuronic acid at C-3 of oleanolic acid to form oleanolic acid 3-O-β-glucuronide. Taken together, our study provides valuable genetic information for P. zingiberensis and the genes responsible for synthesizing the direct precursor of oleanane-type ginsenosides. Background and Objective: Aegis Sciences Corporation developed a test (InterACT Rx™) that objectively and definitively identifies substances known to interact with drug-drug interaction-prone medications commonly prescribed in the treatment of chronic pain and behavioral health disorders. The objective of this study was to assess the severity of identified drug-drug interactions, the reduction in the frequency and severity of identified drug-drug interactions, and the impact of the test on healthcare utilization.Methods: Patients with chronic pain, behavioral health disorders, or both who had one or more drug-drug interaction tests and one or more drug-drug interactions identified in the study period were included. Drug-drug interaction test results described the number and severity of interactions and detected substances involved in drug-drug interactions. Patients' electronic medical records were obtained to analyze outpatient visits and prescription medications. The cost of outpatient visits was based on the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule. Outcomes were compared between the pre- and post-study index periods to determine the impact of the drug-drug interaction test on patient care.Results: A total of 262 patients were included. The majority of drug-drug interactions detected (77.9%) at index were of moderate severity. The number of monthly all-cause and pain-related outpatient visits was reduced in the post-index period compared with the pre-index period (0.74-0.54 and 0.69-0.49, respectively). Associated costs were reduced from US$64.92 to US$51.20, and from US$62.42 to US$47.62, (p < 0.0001 for both) for all-cause and pain-related outpatient visits, respectively. Follow-up drug-drug interaction testing for 43 patients revealed that previously reported drug-drug interactions at the index test were no longer identified in the subsequent test for 39.5% of patients.Conclusions: Employing a definitive test to detect substances whose interactions may cause adverse drug events can enhance a provider's insights, drive clinical decision making, and improve patient outcomes. The T-cell immune responses in nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients have been extensively investigated recently for designing adoptive immunotherapy or immune checkpoint blockade therapy. However, the distribution characteristics of T cells associated with NPC pathogenesis are largely unknown. We performed deep sequencing for TCR repertoire profiling on matched tumor/adjacent normal tissue from 15 NPC patients and peripheral blood from 39 NPC patients, 39 patients with other nasopharyngeal diseases, and 33 healthy controls. We found that a lower diversity of TCR repertoire in tumors than paired tissues or a low similarity between the paired tissues was associated with a poor prognosis in NPC. A more diverse TCR repertoire was identified in the peripheral blood of NPC patients relative to the controls; this was related to a significant decrease in the proportion of high-frequency TCR clones in NPC. Higher diversity in peripheral blood of NPC patients was associated with a worse prognosis. Due to the peculiarity of the Vβ gene usage patterns in the peripheral blood of NPC patients, 15 Vβ genes were selected to distinguish NPC patients from controls by the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator analysis. We identified 11 clonotypes shared by tumors and peripheral blood samples from different NPC patients, defined as "NPC-associated" that might have value in adoptive immunotherapy. In conclusion, we here report the systematic and overall characteristics of the TCR repertoire in tumors, adjacent normal tissues, and peripheral blood of NPC patients. Antibiotic pollution has drawn considerable attention and the removal of antibiotic from water is crucial. In the present study, biochars were produced from rice straw under different pyrolytic temperatures of 300 °C, 500 °C, and 700 °C (RSBC300, RSBC500, and RSBC700, respectively). The biochars were used to remove tetracycline (TC) from aqueous solution and the influence of different experimental conditions on TC removal was investigated. The results showed that the order of adsorption was as follows: RSBC700 > RSBC500 > RSBC300. A pseudo-second-order model and Langmuir isotherm model described the adsorption process of TC on biochars. Maximum adsorption capacity could reach 50.72 mg g−1 at 35 °C based on Langmuir fitting. Initial pH of the solution had little influence on TC removal. The inhibitory effect of Ca2+ on TC removal was greater than that of Na+. High system temperature was beneficial for TC removal. Minerals in RSBC500 affected TC removal and minerals in RSBC300 and RSBC700 had little influence on TC removal. TC removal rate decreased from 58.86 to 27.84% when the minerals were removed from RSBC500. The main mechanism involved in high-temperature biochar and TC adsorption included EDA π-π interactions and electrostatic interactions. Therefore, high-temperature biochar derived from rice straw has the potential to act as an adsorbent to remove tetracycline from aqueous solution. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A novel feedback beamformer is proposed for receiving multipath coherent signals. First, a subtraction-based minimum variance distortionless response beamformer is utilized to obtain an estimation of the desired signal. Background and aims: The current study was undertaken to investigate the mechanism underlying Boron (B)-alleviated phosphate (P) deficiency in Arabidopsis thaliana. Furthermore, we were interested to explore whether this alleviation of P deficiency by B could extend to Brassica crops.Methods: Arabidopsis thaliana or Brassica oleracea plants were grown under P-sufficient or -deficient condition with or without extra B for 7 days, then shoots and roots of B. oleracea were sampled for analysis of soluble P content while those of A. thaliana were harvested for analysis of total P content, soluble P content and nitric oxide (NO) as well as for cell wall extraction and RNA isolation.Results: A. thaliana plants showed reduced root growth and decreased P content in the root under P-deficient conditions, but improved root growth when supplemented with additional B. Further analysis revealed that exogenous B elevated the cell wall pectin content and facilitated the release of P in P-deficient seedlings, thus more soluble P was available to sustain growth under P deficiency. Furthermore, B supplement also increased soluble P in P-deficient cabbage (Brassica oleracea var. capitata L.), an economically important vegetable crop. P deficiency alone was sufficient to induce NO accumulation, and in combination with B application further enhanced NO accumulation, while exogenous application of NO scavenger c-PTIO [2-(4-carboxyphenyl)-4,4,5,5-tetramethylimidazoline-1-oxyl-3-oxide] counteracted this positive effect of B, indicating that NO is positively involved in B-mediated alleviation of P deficiency.Conclusions: Our study reveals the critical role of B in improving the growth of P-deficient plants, and also provides evidence implicating the involvement of NO signal. This study investigated the growth, physiological changes, and the transcript levels of NHX1 gene of Iris halophila in response to low NaCl concentration (50 mM) and high NaCl concentration (150 mM). Our results showed that both 50 and 150 mM NaCl had no obvious negative effects on plant growth; what is more, low NaCl concentration (50 mM) increased root length, root fresh weight, and the ratio of root length to leaf length compared with the control group. The malondialdehyde (MDA) contents in leaves and roots of I. halophila had no obvious difference as compared with control. Proline levels of I. halophila exhibited basically an enhancement under salt stress conditions. Particularly at 4 days, the proline contents in leaves reached 1.85 to 2.31-fold higher and the contents in roots reached 1.27 to 1.62-fold higher than that of control at 50 and 150 mM NaCl, respectively. The contents of the soluble sugar in leaves and roots of I. halophila under 150 mM NaCl at 7 days were 32.4 and 98.7% higher than that of control, respectively. The increase rate of K+ contents with the increasing concentration of salt was less than that of Na+ contents, but K+ contents in the seedlings under NaCl stress was still higher than Na+ contents and the ratio of K+ to Na+ was also greater than 1. The transcript levels of IhNHX1 in leaves of I. halophila at 4 and 7 days under 150 mM NaCl were higher than that of control; however, the transcript levels of IhNHX1 in roots had no significant difference compared with the control under low and high salt stress at 1, 4, and 7 days. In this paper, a new method for the rapid, economical and convenient detection of cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) in jujube is proposed and verified. Based on near-infrared (NIR) fiber spectroscopy combined with stoichiometric analysis, the cAMP content in red jujube can be quickly detected. 68 red jujube samples were used for the NIR spectroscopy data acquisition and the corresponding chemical values were determined. The sample set was adjusted based on the joint XY distance (SPXY) to select the correction sample set. After different preprocessing on the spectra, the partial least squares (PLS) method was used to establish the model, and the smoothed and normalized PLS model result was obtained better. The model’s correction correlation coefficient (Rc), correction set mean square error (RMSEC), prediction correlation coefficient (Rp), and prediction and mean square error (RMSEP) are 0.951 5, 25.793 7, 0.910 8 and 28.228 0, respectively. The results show that NIR combined with specific chemometric methods can achieve rapid detection of cAMP in red jujube. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
