- Abstract
A study conducted by Gwinyai Masukume and his colleagues at University College Dublin found that major sports tournaments, such as American football, soccer, and rugby, were associated with increases in the number of births and birth sex ratio nine months following notable team wins or hosting the tournament. However, unexpected losses by premier soccer league teams were associated with a decline in births. Another study from the University of South Dakota focused on the topic of celebratory sex, specifically in parked cars, and found that it was primarily a positive experience for both men and women. Additionally, a Finnish report discussed the concept of time zones in Russia and the desire for simultaneity and synchronicity. Kazakhstan also made changes to its time zones, which received mixed reactions from citizens. Lastly, research studies that go unread and eventually disappear were addressed in two separate studies, one from Indiana University Bloomington and another from Birkbeck, University of London, which found that a significant percentage of papers are never cited or read, and many digitally preserved documents are missing.
