Advanced Persistent Threat (APT) attacks are causing a lot of damage to critical organizations and institutions. Therefore, early detection and warning of APT attack campaigns are very necessary today. In this paper, we propose a new approach for APT attack detection based on the combination of Feature Intelligent Extraction (FIE) and Representation Learning (RL) techniques. In particular, the proposed FIE technique is a combination of the Bidirectional Long Short-Term Memory (BiLSTM) deep learning network and the Attention network. The FIE combined model has the function of aggregating and extracting unusual behaviors of APT IPs in network traffic. The RL method proposed in this study aims to optimize classifying APT IPs and normal IPs based on two main techniques: rebalancing data and contrastive learning. Specifically, the rebalancing data method supports the training process by rebalancing the experimental dataset. And the contrastive learning method learns APT IP's important features based on finding and pulling similar features together as well as pushing contrasting data points away. The combination of FIE and RL (abbreviated as the FIERL model) is a novel proposal and innovation and has not been proposed and published by any research. The experimental results in the paper have proved that the proposed method in the paper is correct and reasonable when it has shown superior efficiency compared to some other studies and approaches over 5% on all measurements. Scene text detection is an important research field in computer vision, playing a crucial role in various application scenarios. However, existing scene text detection methods often fail to achieve satisfactory results when faced with text instances of different sizes, shapes, and complex backgrounds. To address the challenge of detecting diverse texts in natural scenes, this paper proposes a multi-scale natural scene text detection method based on attention feature extraction and cascaded feature fusion. This method combines global and local attention through an improved attention feature fusion module (DSAF) to capture text features of different scales, enhancing the network's perception of text regions and improving its feature extraction capabilities. Simultaneously, an improved cascaded feature fusion module (PFFM) is used to fully integrate the extracted feature maps, expanding the receptive field of features and enriching the expressive ability of the feature maps. Finally, to address the cascaded feature maps, a lightweight subspace attention module (SAM) is introduced to partition the concatenated feature maps into several sub-space feature maps, facilitating spatial information interaction among features of different scales. In this paper, comparative experiments are conducted on the ICDAR2015, Total-Text, and MSRA-TD500 datasets, and comparisons are made with some existing scene text detection methods. Accurate segmentation of multiple organs in the head, neck, chest, and abdomen from medical images is an essential step in computer-aided diagnosis, surgical navigation, and radiation therapy. In the past few years, with a data-driven feature extraction approach and end-to-end training, automatic deep learning-based multi-organ segmentation methods have far outperformed traditional methods and become a new research topic. This review systematically summarizes the latest research in this field. We searched Google Scholar for papers published from January 1, 2016 to December 31, 2023, using keywords "multi-organ segmentation" and "deep learning", resulting in 327 papers. We followed the PRISMA guidelines for paper selection, and 195 studies were deemed to be within the scope of this review. We summarized the two main aspects involved in multi-organ segmentation: datasets and methods. Regarding datasets, we provided an overview of existing public datasets and conducted an in-depth analysis. Concerning methods, we categorized existing approaches into three major classes: fully supervised, weakly supervised and semi-supervised, based on whether they require complete label information. We summarized the achievements of these methods in terms of segmentation accuracy. In the discussion and conclusion section, we outlined and summarized the current trends in multi-organ segmentation. Background: MicroRNAs (miRNAs) emerge in various organisms, ranging from viruses to humans, and play crucial regulatory roles within cells, participating in a variety of biological processes. In numerous prediction methods for miRNA-disease associations, the issue of over-dependence on both similarity measurement data and the association matrix still hasn't been improved. In this paper, a miRNA-Disease association prediction model (called TP-MDA) based on tree path global feature extraction and fully connected artificial neural network (FANN) with multi-head self-attention mechanism is proposed. The TP-MDA model utilizes an association tree structure to represent the data relationships, multi-head self-attention mechanism for extracting feature vectors, and fully connected artificial neural network with 5-fold cross-validation for model training. Results: The experimental results indicate that the TP-MDA model outperforms the other comparative models, AUC is 0.9714. In the case studies of miRNAs associated with colorectal cancer and lung cancer, among the top 15 miRNAs predicted by the model, 12 in colorectal cancer and 15 in lung cancer were validated respectively, the accuracy is as high as 0.9227. Conclusions: The model proposed in this paper can accurately predict the miRNA-disease association, and can serve as a valuable reference for data mining and association prediction in the fields of life sciences, biology, and disease genetics, among others. With the increasing complexity of the grid meter dial, precise feature extraction is becoming more and more difficult. Many automatic recognition solutions have been proposed for grid meter readings. However, traditional inspection methods cannot guarantee detection accuracy in complex environments. So, deep-learning methods are combined with grid meter recognition. Existing recognition systems that utilize segmentation models exhibit very high computation. It is challenging to ensure high real-time performance in edge computing devices. Therefore, an improved meter recognition model based on YOLOv7 is proposed in this paper. Partial convolution (PConv) is introduced into YOLOv7 to create a lighter network. Different PConv introduction locations on the base module have been used in order to find the optimal approach for reducing the parameters and floating point of operations (FLOPs). Meanwhile, the dynamic head (DyHead) module is utilized to enhance the attention mechanism for the YOLOv7 model. It can improve the detection accuracy of striped objects. As a result, this paper achieves mAP 50 v a l of 97.87% and mAP 50 : 90 v a l of 62.4% with only 5.37 M parameters. The improved model's inference speed can reach 108 frames per second (FPS). With the increasing applications of traffic scene image classification in intelligent transportation systems, there is a growing demand for improved accuracy and robustness in this classification task. However, due to weather conditions, time, lighting variations, and annotation costs, traditional deep learning methods still have limitations in extracting complex traffic scene features and achieving higher recognition accuracy. The previous classification methods for traffic scene images had gaps in multi-scale feature extraction and the combination of frequency domain, spatial, and channel attention. To address these issues, this paper proposes a multi-scale and multi-attention model based on Res2Net. Our proposed framework introduces an Adaptive Feature Refinement Pyramid Module (AFRPM) to enhance multi-scale feature extraction, thus improving the accuracy of traffic scene image classification. Additionally, we integrate frequency domain and spatial-channel attention mechanisms to develop recognition capabilities for complex backgrounds, objects of different scales, and local details in traffic scene images. The paper conducts the task of classifying traffic scene images using the Traffic-Net dataset. The experimental results demonstrate that our model achieves an accuracy of 96.88% on this dataset, which is an improvement of approximately 2% compared to the baseline Res2Net network. Accurate and comprehensive detection of pavement cracks is important for maintaining road quality and ensuring traffic safety. However, the complexity of road surfaces and the diversity of cracks make it difficult for existing methods to accomplish this challenging task. This paper proposes a novel network named the global graph multiscale network (GGMNet) for automated pixel-level detection of pavement cracks. The GGMNet network has several innovations compared with the mainstream road crack detection network: (1) a global contextual Res-block (GC-Resblock) is proposed to guide the network to emphasize the identities of cracks while suppressing background noises; (2) a graph pyramid pooling module (GPPM) is designed to aggregate the multi-scale features and capture the long-range dependencies of cracks; (3) a multi-scale features fusion module (MFF) is established to efficiently represent and deeply fuse multi-scale features. We carried out extensive experiments on three pavement crack datasets. These were DeepCrack dataset, with complex background noises; the CrackTree260 dataset, with various crack structures; and the Aerial Track Detection dataset, with a drone's perspective. The experimental results demonstrate that GGMNet has excellent performance, high accuracy, and strong robustness. Simple Summary: In the sorting process of Chinese softshell turtles, it is necessary to classify them based on their weight and accurately identify their plastron and carapace. This process requires heavy manual labor and complex mechanical processing methods. To improve processing efficiency and reduce costs, this article introduces machine vision technology, and a new image processing method is proposed. This method can estimate the weight of Chinese softshell turtles and accurately locate the positions of their plastron and carapace. The automation level of aquaculture can be greatly enhanced, and hardware costs can be reduced through software optimization through this approach. With the rapid development of the turtle breeding industry in China, the demand for automated turtle sorting is increasing. The automatic sorting of Chinese softshell turtles mainly consists of three parts: visual recognition, weight prediction, and individual sorting. This paper focuses on two aspects, i.e., visual recognition and weight prediction, and a novel method for the object detection and weight prediction of Chinese softshell turtles is proposed. In the individual sorting process, computer vision technology is used to estimate the weight of Chinese softshell turtles and classify them by weight. For the visual recognition of the body parts of Chinese softshell turtles, a color space model is proposed in this paper to separate the turtles from the background effectively. By applying multiple linear regression analysis for modeling, the relationship between the weight and morphological parameters of Chinese softshell turtles is obtained, which can be used to estimate the weight of turtles well. An improved deep learning object detection network is used to extract the features of the plastron and carapace of the Chinese softshell turtles, achieving excellent detection results. Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a popular neurological disorder affecting a critical part of the world's population. Its early diagnosis is extremely imperative for enhancing the quality of patients' lives. Recently, improved technologies like image processing, artificial intelligence involving machine learning, deep learning, and transfer learning have been introduced for detecting AD. This review describes the contribution of image processing, feature extraction, optimization, and classification approach in AD recognition. It deeply investigates different methods adopted for multiclass diagnosis of AD. Accurately assessing the state of health (SOH) of lithium batteries is of great significance for improving battery safety performance. However, the current assessment for SOH suffers from the difficulty of selecting health features and the lack of uncertainty using data-driven methods. To this end, this paper proposes a health state assessment method for lithium-ion batteries based on health feature extraction and an improved Informer model. First, multiple features that can reflect the SOH of lithium-ion batteries were extracted from the charging and discharging time, the peak value of incremental capacity curve (ICC), and the inflection point value of differential voltage curve, etc., and the correlation between multiple health features and the health state was evaluated by gray correlation analysis. Then, an improved Informer model is proposed to establish a health state estimation method for lithium-ion batteries. Finally, the proposed algorithm is tested and validated using publicly available battery charge/discharge datasets and compared with other algorithms. The results show that the method in this paper can realize high-precision SOH prediction with a root-mean-square error (RMSE) of 0.011, and the model fit reaches more than 98%. With a significant number of mechanical products approaching the retirement phase, the batch recycling of discarded mechanical parts necessitates a preliminary assessment of their surface condition. However, the presence of surface rust poses a challenge to defect identification. Therefore, this paper proposes a method for detecting heavily rusted surface defects based on an improved YOLOv8n network. In the Backbone, the C2f-DBB module of re-parameterized deep feature extraction was introduced, and the attention module was designed to improve the accuracy of information extraction. In the Neck part, a Bi-Afpn multiscale feature fusion strategy is designed to facilitate information exchange between features at different scales. Finally, Focal-CIoU is employed as the bounding box loss function to enhance the network's localization performance and accuracy for defects. Experimentally, it is proved that the improved network in this paper improves the Recall, Precision, and mAP0.5 by 1.2%, 2.1%, and 1.9%, respectively, on the original basis, which is better than other network models. In recent years, with the rapid development of deep learning technology, a large number of excellent convolutional neural networks (CNNs) have been proposed, many of which are based on improvements to classical methods. Based on the Inception family of methods, depthwise separable convolution was applied to Xception to achieve lightweighting, and Inception-ResNet introduces residual connections to accelerate model convergence. However, existing improvements for the Inception module often neglect further enhancement of its receptive field, while increasing the receptive field of CNNs has been widely studied and proven to be effective in improving classification performance. Motivated by this fact, three effective expansion modules are proposed in this paper. The first expansion module, Inception expand (Inception-e) module, is proposed to improve the classification accuracy by concatenating more and deeper convolutional branches. To reduce the number of parameters for Inception e, this paper proposes a second expansion module—Equivalent Inception-e (Eception) module, which is equivalent to Inception-e in terms of feature extraction capability, but which suppresses the growth of the parameter quantity brought by the expansion by effectively reducing the redundant convolutional layers; on the basis of Eception, this paper proposes a third expansion module—Lightweight Eception (Lception) module, which crosses depthwise convolution with ordinary convolution to further effectively reduce the number of parameters. The three proposed modules have been validated on the Cifar10 dataset. The experimental results show that all these extensions are effective in improving the classification accuracy of the models, and the most significant effect is the Lception module, where Lception (rank = 4) on the Cifar10 dataset improves the accuracy by 1.5% compared to the baseline model (Inception module A) by using only 0.15 M more parameters. Accurate power load prediction is an important guide for power system planning and operation. High‐ or low‐load prediction results will affect the operation of the power system. In recent years, deep learning technology represented by convolution neural network (CNN) and transformer has been proved to be suitable for power load prediction. This paper proposes a new short‐term power load hybrid forecasting model, called channel enhanced attention (CEA) and temporal convolutional network (TCN)‐based transformer comprehensive forecasting model. This method combines the short‐term feature extraction ability of TCN with the long‐term dependent capture ability of transformer for short‐term load forecasting. And the CEA designed in this study is added to improve the prediction accuracy. On the same dataset, the designed model predicts power load mean square errors of 0.056 and 0.146 for the next 24 h and the next week, respectively, which is 0.002 to 0.073 and 0.012 to 0.024 lower than the baseline model. The experimental results show that the hybrid short‐term power load prediction model proposed in this paper is significantly better than the existing methods. UAV transmission tower inspection is the use of UAV technology for regular inspection and troubleshooting of towers on transmission lines, which helps to improve the safety and reliability of transmission lines and ensures the stability of the power supply. From the traditional manual tower boarding to the current way of manually selecting target camera shooting points from 3D point clouds to plan the inspection path of the UAV, operational efficiency has drastically improved. However, indoor planning work is still labor-consuming and expensive. In this paper, a deep learning-based point cloud transmission tower segmentation (PCTTS) model combined with the corresponding target point localization algorithm is proposed for automatic segmentation of transmission tower point cloud data and automatically localizing the key inspection component as the target point for UAV inspection. First, we utilize octree sampling with unit ball normalization to simplify the data and ensure translation invariance before putting the data into the model. In the feature extraction stage, we encode the point set information and combine Euclidean distance and cosine similarity features to ensure rotational invariance. On this basis, we adopt multi-scale feature extraction, construct a local coordinate system, and introduce the offset-attention mechanism to enhance model performance further. Then, after the feature propagation module, gradual up-sampling is used to obtain the features of each point to complete the point cloud segmentation. Finally, combining the segmentation results with the target point localization algorithm completes the automatic extraction of UAV inspection target points. The method has been applied to six kinds of transmission tower point cloud data of part segmentation results and three kinds of transmission tower point cloud data of instance segmentation results. The experimental results show that the model achieves mIOU of 94.1% on the self-built part segmentation dataset and 86.9% on the self-built instance segmentation dataset, and the segmentation accuracy outperforms that of the methods for point cloud segmentation, such as PointNet++, DGCNN, Point Transformer, and PointMLP. Salient object detection (SOD) aims to identify the most visually striking objects in a scene, simulating the function of the biological visual attention system. The attention mechanism in deep learning is commonly used as an enhancement strategy which enables the neural network to concentrate on the relevant parts when processing input data, effectively improving the model's learning and prediction abilities. Existing saliency object detection methods based on RGB deep learning typically treat all regions equally by using the extracted features, overlooking the fact that different regions have varying contributions to the final predictions. Based on the U2Net algorithm, this paper incorporates the split coordinate channel attention (SCCA) mechanism into the feature extraction stage. SCCA conducts spatial transformation in width and height dimensions to efficiently extract the location information of the target to be detected. While pixel-level semantic segmentation based on annotation has been successful, it assigns the same weight to each pixel which leads to poor performance in detecting the boundary of objects. In this paper, the Canny edge detection loss is incorporated into the loss calculation stage to improve the model's ability to detect object edges. Based on the DUTS and HKU-IS datasets, experiments confirm that the proposed strategies effectively enhance the model's detection performance, resulting in a 0.8% and 0.7% increase in the F1-score of U2Net. This paper also compares the traditional attention modules with the newly proposed attention, and the SCCA attention module achieves a top-three performance in prediction time, mean absolute error (MAE), F1-score, and model size on both experimental datasets. Recent technological developments have enabled computers to identify and categorize facial expressions to determine a person's emotional state in an image or a video. This process, called "Facial Expression Recognition (FER)", has become one of the most popular research areas in computer vision. In recent times, deep FER systems have primarily concentrated on addressing two significant challenges: the problem of overfitting due to limited training data availability, and the presence of expression-unrelated variations, including illumination, head pose, image resolution, and identity bias. In this paper, a comprehensive survey is provided on deep FER, encompassing algorithms and datasets that offer insights into these intrinsic problems. Initially, this paper presents a detailed timeline showcasing the evolution of methods and datasets in deep facial expression recognition (FER). This timeline illustrates the progression and development of the techniques and data resources used in FER. Then, a comprehensive review of FER methods is introduced, including the basic principles of FER (components such as preprocessing, feature extraction and classification, and methods, etc.) from the pro-deep learning era (traditional methods using handcrafted features, i.e., SVM and HOG, etc.) to the deep learning era. Moreover, a brief introduction is provided related to the benchmark datasets (there are two categories: controlled environments (lab) and uncontrolled environments (in the wild)) used to evaluate different FER methods and a comparison of different FER models. Existing deep neural networks and related training strategies designed for FER, based on static images and dynamic image sequences, are discussed. The network structure of digital watermarking algorithm based on deep learning is usually encoder‐noise layer‐decoder. Most of the existing encoders suffer from the problem of insufficient feature extraction, and the introduction of simulated differentiable joint photographic experts group (JPEG) compression in the noise layer cannot ensure the robustness under real JPEG. In this paper, a watermarking algorithm based on multi‐scale auto‐encoder is proposed, which can effectively extract the image feature information by combining with the channel attention mechanism. At the same time, some parameters of decoder and encoder are shared to reduce redundant feature embedding and improve extraction accuracy. This paper also proposes a robust training scheme against JPEG compression, which can guide the model to store the watermark in the low‐frequency region needed for decoding. Experimental results show that the peak signal‐to‐noise ratio (PSNR) of the proposed algorithm is above 48 and the decoding rate is above 99% under JPEG compression with quality factor Q = 50. The purpose of this paper is to help people with auditory and speech disabilities to communicate with others and for controlling computers and machines. This paper proposes two different methods for identifying six distinctive hand gestures and sign language for divergent environmental conditions. The first method is based on the hand feature extraction i.e., convexity defects. For that, initially, the hand region is detected by HSV skin color conversion process. Contour and convex hull of hand are extracted from the hand region. Finally, convexity defects are determined to identify the hand gestures. The second method is deep learning based YOLOv3 model that uses DARKNET-53 convolutional neural network (CNN) as its backbone. The model is trained on a large annotated dataset. Experimental results reveal that the deep-leaning method outperforms the hand feature approach and obtain 98.92% and 95.57% accuracy for deep learning and hand feature-based model respectively. With the rapid development of information transfer technology and the influence of complex electromagnetic environment, the signal components in communication systems are becoming more and more complex, and the spectrum congestion is further aggravated, which seriously affects the performance of communication systems. Single-channel blind source separation technology is an effective solution, but the existing algorithms are deficient in terms of estimation accuracy, time delay and computational complexity. Based on the powerful feature extraction capability and timing signal processing capability of deep learning, this paper proposes an end-to-end time-domain blind separation convolutional network structure, including three parts: encoder, separation module and decoder. The attention mechanism module is also introduced into the encoding layer of the network to enhance the deep feature extraction ability of the network, highlight the influence of important timing features of communication signals, further improve the separation performance and enhance the practicality of the network. The experimental results show that the algorithm has superior performance and can effectively separate the mixed communication signal of various modulation types, and it can also extract own-side communication signals from high-power masked signals. Compared with the existing algorithms, the network in this paper has high separation accuracy and low computational complexity, which breaks the bottleneck of traditional single-channel blind separation algorithms in complex communication electromagnetic environment. Automated and accurate detection of power quality (PQ) events is important from the point of view of safety as well as maintaining the reliability of the power transmission and distribution network. However, detection of multiple PQ events in a noisy environment is challenging task. Another important issue is the choice of meaningful features that can directly influence the accuracy of PQ detection. Considering these two aforesaid facts, this paper presents a novel framework for automated classification of PQ signals in a noisy environment employing cross Stockwell Transform (XST). The XST proposed in this paper has better noise suppression capability compared to conventional Stockwell Transform. Here, XST was used to convert 1D PQ signals to 2D time–frequency (T–F) images. To improve the accuracy of PQ detection, an automated feature extraction method employing deep learning is implemented in this work. The noise free T–F images obtained using XST were fed as inputs to several pre-trained convolutional neural networks (CNNs) for deep feature extraction. Transfer learning technique was implemented to reduce the computational cost. The extracted deep features were further undergone selection using one-way analysis of variance test followed by false discovery rate correction. The statistically significant deep features were subsequently fed to three benchmark machine learning classifiers for classification of PQ signals. In addition, tests were also carried out on real-life PQ signals to verify the practicability of the proposed framework. Lung cancer is an uncontrolled growth of tissue causing a lump in the human lung. If lung cancer can be detected early, it can increase the survival rate. Therefore, a multi-classification approach of lung nodule detection with high computational effectiveness is required. In this paper, a multi-classification approach of lung nodule detection and classification is proposed using artificial intelligence on computed tomography (CT) scan images. Different preprocessing steps are applied for resizing, smoothing, and enhancement of the CT images. Then, two different approaches for feature extraction using VGG16 transfer learning and morphological segmentation are proposed. Morphological segmentation and feature extraction are applied for the segmentation of the region of interest and to extract the distinct features. Finally, the proposed deep learning architecture and seven different machine learning algorithms are applied on the preprocessed data and the extracted features for the classification of lung nodules into three classes: malignant, benign, and normal. It is observed that the stacked ensemble model of deep learning convolutional neural network (CNN) and VGG16 transfer learning models (CNN+VGG16) can achieve 99.55% accuracy using preprocessed data. It is also observed that all the ML algorithms perform with reasonably high accuracy using the low-dimensional morphological features. It is observed from the fivefold cross-validation results that logistic regression performs with 99.36% accuracy in 23.71 s time using the preprocessed data. Whereas, using the morphological features, k-nearest neighbor, and the support vector machine perform with the highest accuracy of 99.76% with very reduced computational time of 0.017 and 0.008 s, respectively. Detecting pipeline leaks is an essential factor in maintaining the integrity of fluid transport systems. This paper introduces an advanced deep learning framework that uses continuous wavelet transform (CWT) images for precise detection of such leaks. Time series data complexity presents new challenges in clustering analysis across fields such as electricity, energy, industry, and finance. Despite advances in representation learning and clustering with Variational Autoencoders (VAE) based deep learning techniques, issues like the absence of discriminative power in feature representation, the disconnect between instance reconstruction and clustering objectives, and scalability challenges with large datasets persist. This paper introduces a novel deep time series clustering approach integrating VAE with metric learning. It leverages a VAE based on Gated Recurrent Units for temporal feature extraction, incorporates metric learning for joint optimization of latent space representation, and employs the sum of log likelihoods as the clustering merging criterion, markedly improving clustering accuracy and interpretability. In this paper, a method based on transfer learning is proposed to recover the three-dimensional shape of cultural relics faces from a single old photo. It can simultaneously reconstruct the three-dimensional facial structure and align the texture of the cultural relics with fewer training samples. The UV position map is used to represent the three-dimensional shape in space and act as the output of the network. A convolutional neural network is used to reconstruct the UV position map from a single 2D image. In the training process, the human face data is used for pre-training, and then a small amount of artifact data is used for fine-tuning. A deep learning model with strong generalization ability is trained with fewer artifact data, and a three-dimensional model of the cultural relic face can be reconstructed from a single old photograph. The methods can train more complex deep networks without a large amount of cultural relic data, and no over-fitting phenomenon occurs, which effectively solves the problem of fewer cultural relic samples. The method is verified by restoring a Chinese Terracotta Warrior with facial cracks and a Buddha with a broken nose. In recent years, research on infrared and visible image fusion has mainly focused on deep learning‐based approaches, particularly deep neural networks with auto‐encoder architectures. However, these approaches suffer from problems such as insufficient feature extraction capability and inefficient fusion strategies. Therefore, this paper introduces a novel image fusion network to address the limitations of infrared and visible image fusion networks with auto‐encoder architectures. In the designed network, the encoder employs a multi‐branch cascade structure, and these convolution branches with different kernel sizes provide the encoder with an adaptive receptive field to extract multi‐scale features. In addition, the fusion layer incorporates a non‐local attention module that is inspired by the self‐attention mechanism. With its global receptive field, this module is used to build a non‐local attention fusion network, which works together with the l1${l}_1$‐norm spatial fusion strategy to extract, split, filter, and fuse global and local features. The magnetic flux leakage (MFL) technique is widely employed for nondestructive testing of ferromagnetic specimens and materials, including wire ropes, bridge cables, and pipelines. As regards the MFL testing, extracting features from MFL signals is crucial for defect recognition and estimation of corresponding widths. Deep learning has been extensively used for feature extraction, but it often performs inadequately on a small sample dataset. To address this limitation, this paper develops a network framework that combines the Wavelet Scattering Transform (WST) and Neural Networks (NN) for defect width estimation. The WST is a knowledge-based feature extraction technique with a structure similar to convolutional neural networks. It offers a translation-invariant representation of signal features using a redundant dictionary of wavelets. The NN then maps the WST feature representation to the defect width information. Experiments on real steel plates with defects are carried out to validate the effectiveness of the proposed framework. Feature extraction and matching play integral roles in autonomous vision navigation. As a typical morphological feature, craters can be used as navigation landmarks. However, the spin of small bodies introduces substantial variations in illumination and viewing angles within acquired images, thereby posing challenges to feature extraction and matching algorithms. Addressing these challenges, a deep learning-based approach emerges as pivotal in mitigating the limitations of existing navigation algorithms. Ship detection and identification play pivotal roles in ensuring navigation safety and facilitating efficient maritime traffic management. Aiming at ship detection in complex environments, which often faces problems such as the dense occlusion of ship targets, low detection accuracy, and variable environmental conditions, in this paper, we propose a ship detection algorithm CSD-YOLO (Context guided block module, Slim-neck, Deformable large kernel attention-You Only Look Once) based on the deformable large kernel attention (D-LKA) mechanism, which was improved based on YOLOv8 to enhance its performance. This approach integrates several innovations to bolster its performance. Initially, the utilization of the Context Guided Block module (CG block) enhanced the c2f module of the backbone network, thereby augmenting the feature extraction capabilities and enabling a more precise capture of the key image information. Subsequently, the introduction of a novel neck architecture and the incorporation of the slim-neck module facilitated more effective feature fusion, thereby enhancing both the accuracy and efficiency of detection. Furthermore, the algorithm incorporates a D-LKA mechanism to dynamically adjust the convolution kernel shape and size, thereby enhancing the model's adaptability to varying ship target shapes and sizes. To address data scarcity in complex marine environments, the experiments utilized a fused dataset comprising the SeaShips dataset and a proprietary dataset. The experimental results demonstrate that the CSD-YOLO algorithm outperformed the YOLOv8n algorithm across all model evaluation metrics. There exist numerous multi‐path signals with impulsive noise (IN) in a multi‐path propagation environment. The direction‐of‐arrival (DOA) is highly challenging to be assessed because of the strong IN. For various military along with civilian applications, DOA estimation has turned into a hopeful technology. But, estimating DOA for multipath signals with IN environments is extremely complicated. A desirable output is not attained by several existent techniques, namely subspace‐centric approaches, maximum likelihood techniques, along with sparse representation‐centric methods, for DOA assessment. Therefore, an effective satin bowerbird optimization‐based deep learning neural network centered DOA estimation upon single snapshots is proposed in this paper for attaining robust and precise DOA estimation in multipath and IN environments. Nowadays, computational intelligence-assisted autonomous assessment of education quality has become a more and more general concern in the area of smart education management. As education quality assessment is a complicated process with multiple heterogeneous factors, it remains challenging to make effective assessment using simple information modality and criteria. To deal with this issue, this paper introduces multiscale deep learning, and proposes a novel data-driven autonomous assessment framework for education quality. In particular, four aspects of heterogeneous indicators are selected as the basic indexes and a dilated convolutional neural network structure is formulated to perform multiscale feature extraction. Then, the structural equation is adopted to make multivariate characterization and output the final assessment results. At last, some simulations are carried out on realistic education operation data to evaluate the efficiency of the proposed autonomous assessment framework. Visual Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (V-SLAM) plays a crucial role in the development of intelligent robotics and autonomous navigation systems. However, it still faces significant challenges in handling highly dynamic environments. The prevalent method currently used for dynamic object recognition in the environment is deep learning. However, models such as Yolov5 and Mask R-CNN require significant computational resources, which limits their potential in real-time applications due to hardware and time constraints. To overcome this limitation, this paper proposes ADM-SLAM, a visual SLAM system designed for dynamic environments that builds upon the ORB-SLAM2. This system integrates efficient adaptive feature point homogenization extraction, lightweight deep learning semantic segmentation based on an improved DeepLabv3, and multi-view geometric segmentation. It optimizes keyframe extraction, segments potential dynamic objects using contextual information with the semantic segmentation network, and detects the motion states of dynamic objects using multi-view geometric methods, thereby eliminating dynamic interference points. The results indicate that ADM-SLAM outperforms ORB-SLAM2 in dynamic environments, especially in high-dynamic scenes, where it achieves up to a 97% reduction in Absolute Trajectory Error (ATE). Intelligent fault diagnostics based on deep learning provides a favorable guarantee for the reliable operation of equipment, but a trained deep learning model generally has low prediction accuracy in cross-domain diagnostics. To solve this problem, a deep learning fault diagnosis method based on the reconstructed envelope spectrum is proposed to improve the ability of rolling bearing cross-domain fault diagnostics in this paper. First, based on the envelope spectrum morphology of rolling bearing failures, a standard envelope spectrum is constructed that reveals the unique characteristics of different bearing health states and eliminates the differences between domains due to different bearing speeds and bearing models. Then, a fault diagnosis model was constructed using a convolutional neural network to learn features and complete fault classification. Finally, using two publicly available bearing data sets and one bearing data set obtained by self-experimentation, the proposed method is applied to the data of the fault diagnostics of rolling bearings under different rotational speeds and different bearing types. In this paper, a novel image reconstruction method for printmaking is proposed via the combination of nonlinear diffusion filtering and convolution neural network. Nonlinear diffusion filtering based on a partial differential equation abstracts the input image to extract color features and texture features of images by nonlinear structured tensors. The image color features and texture features are combined to obtain a feature vector, and the feature vector is fed into the model as the input data. Then, the pre-trained deep learning model VGG-19 is utilized as the backbone network for further feature representation, and the extracted feature maps of each layer of the VGG19 model can be visualized for image reconstruction. The quality of the reconstructed images of prints is improved with the powerful feature extraction and combination ability of neural networks, which has the advantages of fast reconstruction speed and high quality of reconstructed images. The identification research of hydrogenation catalyst information has always been one of the most important businesses in the chemical industry. In order to aid researchers in efficiently screening high-performance catalyst carriers and tackle the pressing challenge at hand, it is imperative to find a solution for the intelligent recognition of hydrogenation catalyst images. To address the issue of low recognition accuracy caused by adhesion and stacking of hydrogenation catalysts, An image recognition algorithm of hydrogenation catalyst based on FPNC Net was proposed in this paper. In the present study, Resnet50 backbone network was used to extract the features, and spatially-separable convolution kernel was used to extract the multi-scale features of catalyst fringe. In addition, to effectively segment the adhesive regions of stripes, FPN (Feature Pyramid Network) is added to the backbone network for deep and shallow feature fusion. Introducing an attention module to adaptively adjust weights can effectively highlight the target features of the catalyst. The experimental results showed that the FPNC Net model achieved an accuracy of 94.2% and an AP value improvement of 19.37% compared to the original CenterNet model. Automatic Urdu handwritten text recognition is a challenging task in the OCR industry. Unlike printed text, Urdu handwriting lacks a uniform font and structure. This lack of uniformity causes data inconsistencies and recognition issues. Different writing styles, cursive scripts, and limited data make Urdu text recognition a complicated task. Major languages, such as English, have experienced advances in automated recognition, whereas low-resource languages, such as Urdu, still lag. Transformer-based models are promising for automated recognition in high- and low-resource languages such as Urdu. This paper presents a transformer-based method called ET-Network that integrates self-attention into EfficientNet for feature extraction and a transformer for language modeling. The use of self-attention layers in EfficientNet helps to extract global and local features that capture long-range dependencies. These features proceeded into a vanilla transformer to generate text, and a prefix beam search is used for the finest outcome. NUST-UHWR, UPTI2.0, and MMU-OCR-21 are three datasets used to train and test the ET Network for a handwritten Urdu script. The efficient and timely identification of oil spill areas is crucial for ocean environmental protection. Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) is widely used in oil spill detection due to its all-weather monitoring capability. Meanwhile, existing deep learning-based oil spill detection methods mainly rely on the classical U-Net framework and have achieved impressive results. However, SAR images exhibit high noise, blurry boundaries, and irregular shapes of target areas, as well as speckles and shadows, which lead to the loss of performance in existing algorithms. In this paper, we propose a novel network architecture to achieve more precise segmentation of oil spill areas by reintroducing rich semantic contextual information before obtaining the final segmentation mask. Specifically, the proposed architecture can re-fuse feature maps from different levels at the decoder end. We design a multi-convolutional layer (MCL) module to extract basic feature information from SAR images, and a feature extraction module (FEM) module further extracts and fuses feature maps generated by the U-Net decoder at different levels. Through these operations, the network can learn rich global and local contextual information, enable sufficient interaction of feature information at different stages, enhance the model's contextual awareness, and improve its ability to recognize complex textures and blurry boundaries, thereby enhancing the segmentation accuracy of SAR images. In recent years, deep learning methods have achieved remarkable success in hyperspectral image classification (HSIC), and the utilization of convolutional neural networks (CNNs) has proven to be highly effective. However, there are still several critical issues that need to be addressed in the HSIC task, such as the lack of labeled training samples, which constrains the classification accuracy and generalization ability of CNNs. To address this problem, a deep multi-scale attention fusion network (DMAF-NET) is proposed in this paper. This network is based on multi-scale features and fully exploits the deep features of samples from multiple levels and different perspectives with an aim to enhance HSIC results using limited samples. The innovation of this article is mainly reflected in three aspects: Firstly, a novel baseline network for multi-scale feature extraction is designed with a pyramid structure and densely connected 3D octave convolutional network enabling the extraction of deep-level information from features at different granularities. Secondly, a multi-scale spatial–spectral attention module and a pyramidal multi-scale channel attention module are designed, respectively. This allows modeling of the comprehensive dependencies of coordinates and directions, local and global, in four dimensions. Finally, a multi-attention fusion module is designed to effectively combine feature mappings extracted from multiple branches. This paper proposes an approach to enhance the differentiation task between benign and malignant Breast Tumors (BT) using histopathology images from the BreakHis dataset. The main stages involve preprocessing, which encompasses image resizing, data partitioning (training and testing sets), followed by data augmentation techniques. Both feature extraction and classification tasks are employed by a Custom CNN. The experimental results show that the proposed approach using the Custom CNN model exhibits better performance with an accuracy of 84% than applying the same approach using other pretrained models, including MobileNetV3, EfficientNetB0, Vgg16, and ResNet50V2, that present relatively lower accuracies, ranging from 74 to 82%; these four models are used as both feature extractors and classifiers. To increase the accuracy and other performance metrics, Grey Wolf Optimization (GWO), and Modified Gorilla Troops Optimization (MGTO) metaheuristic optimizers are applied to each model separately for hyperparameter tuning. In this case, the experimental results show that the Custom CNN model, refined with MGTO optimization, reaches an exceptional accuracy of 93.13% in just 10 iterations, outperforming the other state-of-the-art methods, and the other four used pretrained models based on the BreakHis dataset. Unsupervised learning, a branch of machine learning that can operate on unlabelled data, has proven to be a powerful tool for data exploration and discovery in astronomy. As large surveys and new telescopes drive a rapid increase in data size and richness, these techniques offer the promise of discovering new classes of objects and of efficient sorting of data into similar types. However, unsupervised learning techniques generally require feature extraction to derive simple but informative representations of images. In this paper, we explore the use of self-supervised deep learning as a method of automated representation learning. We apply the algorithm Bootstrap Your Own Latent to Galaxy Zoo DECaLS images to obtain a lower dimensional representation of each galaxy, known as features. We briefly validate these features using a small supervised classification problem. We then move on to apply an automated clustering algorithm, demonstrating that this fully unsupervised approach is able to successfully group together galaxies with similar morphology. The same features prove useful for anomaly detection, where we use the framework astronomaly to search for merger candidates. While the focus of this work is on optical images, we also explore the versatility of this technique by applying the exact same approach to a small radio galaxy data set. Pixel‐level labeling of regions of interest in an image is a key step in building a labeled training dataset for supervised deep learning networks of images. However, traditional manual labeling of cancerous regions in digital pathological images by doctors is time‐consuming and inefficient. To address this issue, this paper proposes an automatic labeling method for whole slide images, which combines clustering and edge detection techniques. The proposed method utilizes the multi‐level feature fusion model and the Long‐Short Term Memory network to discriminate the cancerous nature of the whole slide images, thereby improving the classification accuracy of the whole slide images. Subsequently, the automatic labeling of cancerous regions is achieved by integrating a density‐based clustering algorithm and an edge point extraction algorithm, both based on the discriminated results of the cancerous properties of whole slide images. Hyperspectral image classification (HSIC) has garnered increasing attention among researchers. While classical networks like convolution neural networks (CNNs) have achieved satisfactory results with the advent of deep learning, they are confined to processing local information. Vision transformers, despite being effective at establishing long-distance dependencies, face challenges in extracting high-representation features for high-dimensional images. In this paper, we present the multiscale efficient attention with enhanced feature transformer (MEA-EFFormer), which is designed for the efficient extraction of spectral–spatial features, leading to effective classification. MEA-EFFormer employs a multiscale efficient attention feature extraction module to initially extract 3D convolution features and applies effective channel attention to refine spectral information. Following this, 2D convolution features are extracted and integrated with local binary pattern (LBP) spatial information to augment their representation. Then, the processed features are fed into a spectral–spatial enhancement attention (SSEA) module that facilitates interactive enhancement of spectral–spatial information across the three dimensions. Finally, these features undergo classification through a transformer encoder. Background: Glaucoma, the second leading cause of global blindness, demands timely detection due to its asymptomatic progression. This paper introduces an advanced computerized system, integrates Machine Learning (ML), convolutional neural networks (CNNs), and image processing for accurate glaucoma detection using medical imaging data, surpassing prior research efforts. Method: Developing a hybrid glaucoma detection framework using CNNs (ResNet50, VGG-16) and Random Forest. Models analyze pre-processed retinal images independently, and post-processing rules combine predictions for an overall glaucoma impact assessment. Result: The hybrid framework achieves a significant 95.41% accuracy, with precision and recall at 99.37% and 88.37%, respectively. For the significant distortion problem caused by the special projection method of equi-rectangular projection (ERP) images, this paper proposes an omnidirectional image super-resolution algorithm model based on position information transformation, taking SwinIR as the base. By introducing a space position transformation module that supports deformable convolution, the image preprocessing process is optimized to reduce the distortion effects in the polar regions of the ERP image. Meanwhile, by introducing deformable convolution in the deep feature extraction process, the model's adaptability to local deformations of images is enhanced. Autonomy of breast cancer classification is a challenging problem, and early diagnosis is highly important. Histopathology images provide microscopic-level details of tissue samples and play a crucial role in the accurate diagnosis and classification of breast cancer. Moreover, advancements in deep learning play an essential role in early cancer diagnosis. However, existing techniques involve unique models for each classification based on the magnification factor and require training numerous models or using a hierarchical approach combining multiple models irrespective of the focus of the cell features. This may lead to lower performance for multiclass categorization. This paper adopts the DenseNet161 network by adding a learnable residual layer. The learnable residual layer enhances the features, providing low-level information. In addition, residual features are obtained from the convolution features of the preceding layer, which ensures that the future size is consistent with the number of channels in DenseNet's layer. The concatenation of spatial features with residual features helps better learn texture classification without the need for an additional texture feature extraction module. The model was validated for both binary and multiclass categorization of malignant images. The proposed model's classification accuracy ranges from 94.65% to 100% for binary and multiclass classification, and the error rate is 2.78%. Traditional fish farming methods suffer from backward production, low efficiency, low yield, and environmental pollution. As a result of thorough research using deep learning technology, the industrial aquaculture model has experienced gradual maturation. A variety of complex factors makes it difficult to extract effective features, which results in less-than-good model performance. This paper proposes a fish detection method that combines a triple attention mechanism with a You Only Look Once (TAM-YOLO)model. In order to enhance the speed of model training, the process of data encapsulation incorporates positive sample matching. An exponential moving average (EMA) is incorporated into the training process to make the model more robust, and coordinate attention (CA) and a convolutional block attention module are integrated into the YOLOv5s backbone to enhance the feature extraction of channels and spatial locations. The extracted feature maps are input to the PANet path aggregation network, and the underlying information is stacked with the feature maps. The method improves the detection accuracy of underwater blurred and distorted fish images. Experimental results show that the proposed TAM-YOLO model outperforms YOLOv3, YOLOv4, YOLOv5s, YOLOv5m, and SSD, with a mAP value of 95.88%, thus providing a new strategy for fish detection. To enhance the accuracy of theft detection for electricity consumers, this paper introduces a novel strategy based on the fusion of the dual-time feature and deep learning methods. Initially, considering electricity-consumption features at dual temporal scales, the paper employs temporal convolutional networks (TCN) with a long short-term memory (LSTM) multi-level feature extraction module (LSTM-TCN) and deep convolutional neural network (DCNN) to parallelly extract features at these scales. Subsequently, the extracted features are coupled and input into a fully connected (FC) layer for classification, enabling the precise detection of theft users. To validate the method's effectiveness, real electricity-consumption data from the State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC) is used for testing. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method achieves a remarkable detection accuracy of up to 94.7% during testing, showcasing excellent performance across various evaluation metrics. Specifically, it attained values of 0.932, 0.964, 0.948, and 0.986 for precision, recall, F1 score, and AUC, respectively. Additionally, the paper conducts a comparative analysis with mainstream theft identification approaches. In the comparison of training processes, the proposed method exhibits significant advantages in terms of identification accuracy and fitting degree. Deep learning is proliferating within the field of computer vision. Road damage detection technology, as its offshoot, already plays vital role in road maintenance and traffic safety. With road damage such as potholes and cracks, accurate and efficient detection results are essential for timely road safety repair and maintenance. Therefore, road damage detection algorithms based on deep learning have attracted wide attention. YOLOv5 is an advanced target detection algorithm known for its efficient detection speed and good accuracy. However, there is still room for further improvement in its performance for road damage detection. The ability of multi-scale damage detection and spatial structure capture is not perfect. Therefore, this paper proposes three improvement points to improve the accuracy of road damage detection based on YOLOv5. The first introduced module is the Non-linear Spatial Pyramidal Pooling-Fast (NSPPF) module. This module allows for better capture of detailed features of road damage areas. Non-linear transformation and fast pyramid operation improve the sensing ability and multi-scale damage detection ability. Secondly, a combination of the CoordConv and SK attention modules is constructed. The CoordConv module fuses coordinate information with features to provide a more spatially informed representation. The SK attention module also learns correlations between global and local features, enhancing the model's ability to detect damages at different scales. This paper can better capture road injuries' spatial structure and context information by combining these two modules. Finally, experimental results on the RDD2020 dataset demonstrate the effectiveness of our model. Compared to the baseline model, the proposed improvement algorithm increases the accuracy by 2.2%, resulting in a mAP of 58.2%. This demonstrates its effectiveness and feasibility. Purpose: Sequenced Protein–Protein Interaction (PPI) prediction represents a pivotal area of study in biology, playing a crucial role in elucidating the mechanistic underpinnings of diseases and facilitating the design of novel therapeutic interventions. Conventional methods for extracting features through experimental processes have proven to be both costly and exceedingly complex. In light of these challenges, the scientific community has turned to computational approaches, particularly those grounded in deep learning methodologies. Despite the progress achieved by current deep learning technologies, their effectiveness diminishes when applied to larger, unfamiliar datasets. Results: In this study, the paper introduces a novel deep learning framework, termed DL-PPI, for predicting PPIs based on sequence data. The proposed framework comprises two key components aimed at improving the accuracy of feature extraction from individual protein sequences and capturing relationships between proteins in unfamiliar datasets. 1. Protein Node Feature Extraction Module: To enhance the accuracy of feature extraction from individual protein sequences and facilitate the understanding of relationships between proteins in unknown datasets, the paper devised a novel protein node feature extraction module utilizing the Inception method. This module efficiently captures relevant patterns and representations within protein sequences, enabling more informative feature extraction. 2. Feature-Relational Reasoning Network (FRN): In the Global Feature Extraction module of our model, the paper developed a novel FRN that leveraged Graph Neural Networks to determine interactions between pairs of input proteins. The FRN effectively captures the underlying relational information between proteins, contributing to improved PPI predictions. Multimedia data have increased dramatically today, making the distinction between desirable information and other types of information extremely important. Speech/music discrimination is a field of audio analytics that aims to detect and classify speech and music segments in an audio file. This paper proposes a novel feature extraction method called Long-Term Multi-band Frequency-Domain Mean-Crossing Rate (FDMCR). The proposed feature computes the average frequency-domain mean-crossing rate along the frequency axis for each of the perceptual Mel-scaled frequency bands of the signal power spectrum. In this paper, the class-separation capability of this feature is first measured by well-known divergence criteria such as Maximum Fisher Discriminant Ratio (MFDR), Bhattacharyya divergence, and Jeffreys/Symmetric Kullback–Leibler (SKL) divergence. The proposed feature is then applied to the speech/music discrimination (SMD) process on two well-known speech-music datasets—GTZAN and S &S (Scheirer and Slaney). The results obtained on the two datasets using conventional classifiers, including k-NN, GMM, and SVM, as well as deep learning-based classification methods, including CNN, LSTM, and BiLSTM, show that the proposed feature outperforms other features in speech/music discrimination.
