Abstract

Background: The deeper knowledge of non–small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) biology and the discovery of driver molecular alterations have opened the era of precision medicine in lung oncology, thus significantly revolutionizing the diagnostic and therapeutic approach to NSCLC. In Italy, however, molecular assessment remains heterogeneous across the country, and numbers of patients accessing personalized treatments remain relatively low. Nationwide programs have demonstrated that the creation of consortia represent a successful strategy to increase the number of patients with a molecular classification. Patients and Methods: The Alliance Against Cancer (ACC), a network of 25 Italian Research Institutes, has developed a targeted sequencing panel for the detection of genomic alterations in 182 genes in patients with a diagnosis of NSCLC (ACC lung panel). One thousand metastatic NSCLC patients will be enrolled onto a prospective trial designed to measure the sensitivity and specificity of the ACC lung panel as a tool for molecular screening compared to standard methods. Results and Conclusion: The ongoing trial is part of a nationwide strategy of ACC to develop infrastructures and improve competences to make the Italian research institutes independent for genomic profiling of cancer patients.

Abstract

Il saggio si sofferma sulle problematiche correlate all'adattamento nel nostro Paese della normativa dell'Unione europea in materia di aiuti di Stato, con particolare attenzione a quelli rivolti all'occupazione, a cominciare dalla problematica correlata alla condanna del giudice europeo delle agevolazioni connesse ai contratti di formazione e lavoro, provocandone la scomparsa dall'ordinamento. Vengono poi analizzate nella prospettiva europea degli aiuti di Stato le diverse modalità di emersione dal lavoro nero che sono state attuate in Italia nel corso degli anni.

Abstract

The quantitative assessment of the motion and deformation of the heart is instrumental to diagnosis. We developed an accurate method for tracking and analysing the regional motion and deformation of the heart. To be of clinical value, the results must be visualized, and we paid much attention to all relevant visualization aspects.

9. Temperature preference in Rhodnius prolixus, effects and possible consequences

Abstract

The present work examines the thermal preference of adult Rhodnius prolixus along a temperature gradient. The mean preferred temperature differed slightly between sexes: 25.0degreesC for males versus 25.4degreesC for females. This preference was not constant, but varied daily by about 0.2degreesC for both sexes, and reached its highest value at the onset of the dark phase and was lowest during the light phase. A change in the preferred temperature with the level of starvation was also observed (about 1degreesC lower after 20 days of starvation). Changes in environmental temperature strongly affected the rate of weight loss for both sexes. When insects were maintained for 20 days in a chamber at 32degreesC, they lost significantly more weight than when kept at 24degreesC; both water loss and nutrient conversion processes are involved. This increase in weight loss rate with increasing temperature would cause a higher biting rate and consequently higher probability of Chagas' disease transmission. Females oviposit across a range of temperatures from 22 to 33degreesC with a peak at 25-26degreesC. These results are compared with patterns of thermopreference in other species of triatomine, as related to differences in their distribution and tolerance to starvation. (C) 2003 Elsevier B.V. Abstract

ISBN: 0769524060, Soft error rates induced by cosmic radiation become unacceptable in future very deep sub-micron technologies. Many hardening techniques at different abstraction levels have been proposed to cope with increased soft error rates. Depending on the abstraction level some techniques need to modify the design at architecture, circuit and transistor level, others required the modification of the circuit layout or to use new defined cells within the circuit. In this paper an automatic layout generator is presented to complete the system design process being able to easily generate the hardened design layout, thus reducing the system design time. This work aims at presenting a case study of a complete soft error tolerant integrated circuit by using an automatic layout generator called Parrot Punch.

Abstract

International audience, Fault injection techniques have been proposed recently to early analyze the dependability characteristics of analog circuits. **The aim of this paper is to compare SPICE level and high level analyses for SET-like faults injections on a PLL mixed analog-digital circuit. Advantages and drawbacks will be discussed, as well as the accuracy of the high level modeling with respect to low level effects of transients due for example to energetic particle hits.
