Parents of children with ASD (N = 86; mean age 44.8 months; 67 boys) were randomized to either WHO Caregiver Skills Training (CST) delivered in public health settings in Italy or enhanced treatment-as-usual. Primary blinded outcomes were 3-months post-intervention change scores of autism severity and engagement during caregiver-child interaction. CST was highly acceptable to caregivers and feasibly delivered by trained local clinicians. Intention-to-treat analysis showed a large and significant effect on parent skills supporting joint engagement and a smaller significant effect on flow of interaction. Expected changes in child autism severity and joint engagement did not meet statistical significance. Analysis of secondary outcomes showed a significant effect on parenting stress, self-efficacy, and child gestures. Strategies to improve the effectiveness of CST are discussed.

The Caregiver Skills Training programme is an evidence-informed group intervention developed by the World Health Organization to counter the treatment gap for neurodevelopmental disorders in children. We examined feasibility and acceptability of Caregiver Skills Training in public child neuropsychiatry services in Italy. Following a formative adaptation process and a pre-pilot implementation, the programme was piloted in six centres. Caregivers of children (2–5 years) with autism spectrum disorder were randomised to either Caregiver Skills Training (n = 43) or treatment as usual (n = 43). Professionals’ and caregivers’ experiences in the treatment arm were examined with focus groups and questionnaires. The programme was largely considered acceptable, relevant and feasible. Specific implementation challenges and suggestions for optimising the package are discussed. Lay abstract: Across the globe, children with neurodevelopmental disorders, including autism, have limited access to care through public services. To improve access to care the World Health Organization developed a novel, open-access programme: the Caregiver Skills Training programme. The Caregiver Skills Training consists of nine group sessions and three individual home visits, focused on training the caregiver on how to use everyday play and home routines as opportunities for learning and development. We implemented Caregiver Skills Training in public child neuropsychiatry services in Italy and examined with questionnaires and focus groups how feasible it was to deliver the programme in public health settings and how acceptable and relevant it was for caregiver users. We found that the Caregiver Skills Training was largely considered acceptable and relevant for families and feasible to deliver. We discuss potential solutions to address the specific implementation challenges that were identified, such as strategies to improve training of interventionists and overcome barriers to caregiver participation.

We investigated the mechanism of impact of poor communication skills and emotional and behavioural problems in children with ASD (22–61 months) on parental psychological distress. Participants were dyads enrolled in two pilot intervention studies; the dataset includes cross-sectional data at baseline (N = 82). We postulated an indirect effect of child expressive and receptive communication on parent psychological distress, through child emotional and behavioural problems. The effect of receptive skills on parent psychological distress was fully mediated by child emotional problems: lower receptive skills were associated with higher levels of emotional symptoms, which in turn predicted higher parent psychological distress. Expressive skills did not show either direct or indirect effects. Findings are discussed in light of children’s marked ‘receptive disadvantage’ communication profile.

[EN] Buildings are responsible for about 36% of the CO2 emissions in Europe but there is a significant potential to reduce these emissions. This paper deals with the embodied CO2 emissions of the opaque part of a facade, which include the life cycle of any material used in its construction: excavation, processing, construction, operation, maintenance, demolition and waste or recycling. With the aim of minimizing such embodied CO2 emissions, an Integer Linear Programming problem is presented, in which CO2 emissions are minimized depending on other parameters involved in the construction of the facade, like the maximal thermal transmittance allowed by current legislation, thickness of the wall, budget, availability of materials for the different layers of the wall, etc. The paper also shows a case study based on a constructive solution for the opaque part of the envelope defined by up to six layers, with more than 1.1 million possible combinations. This case study considers seventy scenarios depending on maximal allowed thermal transmittances and thickness intervals for five different technologies applied to the structural element of the wall. Results show that an adequate selection of materials can reduce the embodied CO2 emissions of the opaque part of the envelope up to 78.5% for similar values of transmittance and thickness.

In this challenging context, some prAPPactices with embedded use of apps have been introduced in our Physics laboratory as part of the new active teaching strategies to increase student satisfaction and motivation. We present three examples of the most representative newly introduced prAPPctices regarding acoustics, lighting and elasticity in our subjects in two different degrees (building engineering and mechanical engineering). Students become main actors in a smarter, portable, reproducible, and more exciting learning environment and the teacher role is set on a second layer. Creating a new, more exciting, personal and customised working and learning environment has improved student¿s engagement and satisfaction and the quality of the laboratory reports with direct and positive consequences on the grades.

[ES] Este Trabajo Final de Grado tiene por objeto el diseño de un edificio a construir en PB+3 con una sala multiactividad, establecimiento de recepción de público (ERP) para deportes y eventos en la planta baja; tres niveles para uso residencial y un aparcamiento subterráneo, así como en la modificación de un edificio existente y de su aparcamiento subterráneo en Montpellier. El diseño y la modificación de estos dos edificios, conectados entre sí por el aparcamiento, cumplen estrictamente la normativa vigente, en particular la relativa al aislamiento térmico y acústico, la seguridad contra incendios, la accesibilidad para personas con discapacidad y el enfoque de Alta Calidad Medioambiental, así como con un estudio y análisis preliminar de los elementos del programa y el uso de Revit. Además, se han propuesto algunas alternativas, basadas en una guía de selección de materiales, HDA y CES EduPack, a fin de integrarlas en un enfoque de desarrollo sostenible. The design and modification of these two buildings, connected by the car park, are in strict compliance with current regulations, in particular those concerning thermal and sound insulation, fire safety, accessibility for the disabled and the High Environmental Quality approach, as well as the preliminary study and analysis of the program elements and the use of Revit. In addition, some alternatives, based on a material selection guide, EHDS and CES EduPack, have been proposed in order to integrate them into a sustainable development approach. The development and progress of the building project, inspired by the principles of project management, has gone hand in hand with the follow-up of theoretical and practical courses relating to technological subjects for building engineering, in which we have been given the specific concepts and tools mentioned above, necessary for the successful achievement of the objectives initially set and the public and professional defense of the results obtained.

[EN] The construction of a building¿s external wall is subject to many restrictions such as budget, workforce, availability of materials, thickness, maintenance cost, time limit and specially, energy efficiency legislation intended at mitigating the negative effects of the energy consumption and obtaining a more sustainable and healthier indoor environment. The choice of the appropriate material and thickness composing each layer of an external wall can significantly reduce the energy consumption of the building without adversely affecting the cost of the wall. By using Integer Linear Programming (ILP), the aim of this paper is to obtain this best choice of materials and thicknesses to minimize the construction cost of an external wall while complying with the abovementioned restrictions. A case study is presented with more than 5.5 million combinations of different selected materials and their thicknesses for the different layers of the wall. The ILP problem has been solved for 165 scenarios that take into account different maximal allowed thermal transmittances and a range of the most usual thicknesses and material options of an external wall.

Trabajo de fin de grado modalidad intercambios académicos, [EN] This proposal for a bachelor thesis at ETSEE, UPV, deals with the refurbishment of the Physics Lab in building 1B from thermal, hygronomic and lighting point of view with a special regard to economic and energy efficiency issues abiding current norms. The choice was made as this enclosure is representative on a smaller scale for the whole building. Four physical magnitudes involved in the thermal comfort will be studied, namely transmittance, relative humidity and temperature as well as a natural illuminance. The enclosure will be monitorized with different probes during a period of 8-10 weeks. [EN] The construction of a building¿s external wall is subject to many restrictions such as budget, workforce, availability of materials, thickness, maintenance cost, time limit and specially, energy efficiency legislation intended at mitigating the negative effects of the energy consumption and obtaining a more sustainable and healthier indoor environment. The choice of the appropriate material and thickness composing each layer of an external wall can significantly reduce the energy consumption of the building without adversely affecting the cost of the wall. By using Integer Linear Programming (ILP), the aim of this paper is to obtain this best choice of materials and thicknesses to minimize the construction cost of an external wall while complying with the abovementioned restrictions. A case study is presented with more than 5.5 million combinations of different selected materials and their thicknesses for the different layers of the wall. The ILP problem has been solved for 165 scenarios that take into account different maximal allowed thermal transmittances and a range of the most usual thicknesses and material options of an external wall.

Este tipo de viviendas disponen de cubiertas de pizarra sobre estructuras de madera, muros de carga de mampostería sobre cimentaciones corridas, forjados de entablados de madera sobre vigas, …. En definitiva, estas viviendas recogen un conjunto de soluciones constructivas específicas para resistir los fuertes efectos climatológicos que se registran en estas zonas y poder dar a sus habitantes un confort suficiente. El objetivo planteado es la mejora higrotérmica y de confort de una “Borda Aranesa”, una vivienda del siglo XIX, ubicada en Vaqueira, y a una altitud de 1800 m. sobre el nivel del mar. Esta casa fue utilizada como refugio de ganaderos durante la mayor parte de su existencia. En la actualidad está deshabitada y con un futuro incierto. En este proyecto se analizará la normativa exigida en materia de Eficiencia Energética, Código Técnico de la Edificación y todas aquellas que puedan afectar al confort de las personas en una vivienda. Seguidamente analizaremos el entorno y la climatología que afecta a estas regiones y como han solucionado constructivamente estos requerimientos tan exigentes. Como trabajo de campo se han realizado diferentes ensayos dentro de la vivienda, análisis de la transmitancia de los muros, fotografías térmicas. Con todos estos datos recabados se ha realizado un análisis de las envolventes hallando la calificación energética inicial, así como, una propuesta de las distintas soluciones de mejora con la correspondiente calificación para evaluar las diferencias de mejora obtenidas tras los cambios. In short, these houses include a set of specific constructive solutions to resist the difficult climatological conditions that are usual in these areas and to provide their inhabitants with sufficient comfort. The objective is to improve the hygrothermal comfort of a "Borda Aranesa", a dwelling of the nineteenth century, located in Vaqueira, at 1800m above sea level. This house was used as a shelter for cattle ranchers during most of its existence. Now a days it is uninhabited and with an uncertain future. This project will take into account the required legislation on Energy Efficiency, Technical Building Code and all those that may affect the comfort of people in a house. The environment and the climatology that affects these regions will be analyzed. These demanding requirements constructively. As fieldwork have been inside the house, analysis of the transmittance of the walls, thermal photographs. With all these collected data an analysis of the envelopes has been made, having the initial energy rating, as well as proposals of improvement solutions with the corresponding qualification to evaluate the improvement differences obtained after the changes. Finally an economic evaluation (budget) is prepared to know the economic impact of the more efficient constructive intervention.

The environment and the climatology that affects these regions will be analyzed. These demanding requirements constructively. As fieldwork have been inside the house, analysis of the transmittance of the walls, thermal photographs. With all these collected data an analysis of the envelopes has been made, having the initial energy rating, as well as proposals of improvement solutions with the corresponding qualification to evaluate the improvement differences obtained after the changes. Finally an economic evaluation (budget) is prepared to know the economic impact of the more efficient constructive intervention.

Targeted resequencing gene panels are used in the diagnostic setting to identify gene defects in epilepsy. We performed targeted resequencing using a 30-genes panel and a 95-genes panel in 349 patients with drug-resistant epilepsies beginning in the first years of life. We identified 71 pathogenic variants, 42 of which novel, in 30 genes, corresponding to 20.3% of the probands. In 66% of mutation positive patients, epilepsy onset occurred before the age of 6 months. The 95-genes panel allowed a genetic diagnosis in 22 (6.3%) patients that would have otherwise been missed using the 30-gene panel. About 50% of mutations were identified in genes coding for sodium and potassium channel components. SCN2A was the most frequently mutated gene followed by SCN1A, KCNQ2, STXBP1, SCN8A, CDKL5, and MECP2. Twenty-nine mutations were identified in 23 additional genes, most of them recently associated with epilepsy. Our data show that panels targeting about 100 genes represent the best cost-effective diagnostic option in pediatric drug-resistant epilepsies. They enable molecular diagnosis of atypical phenotypes, allowing to broaden phenotype–genotype correlations. Molecular diagnosis might influence patients' management and translate into better and specific treatment recommendations in some conditions.

The curtailed use of aspirin in children and the disappearance of Reye's syndrome have been matter of debate in the last two decades. We report on a case that rekindles the discussion on the existence of an aspirin-triggered acute hepatopathy/encephalopathy resembling what in the past was referred to as Reye's syndrome.

The creation of the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) and the introduction of new university degrees have promoted a new conceptualization and adaptation of the teaching methodology and the consequent and inevitable diversification of the assessment methods. Especially due to the introduction of continuous evaluation, many activities that had no direct influence on the final grade before, contribute now, to a greater or lesser extent, to the final grade. This set of information obtained during the course offers often great differences between them and other qualifications. Some differences are fully justified and other less justifiable. The main aim of this paper is comparing and analyzing results of different evaluation acts obtained by students in the subject Physics Foundations on Computer Science. Our sample includes 170 of 512 enrolled students (37%). Linear fitting of academic data (tests, midterm and laboratory exams) have been compared with admission mark and previous studies at high school, traditionally identified as determinants for later academic performance. Two ad hoc parameters have been defined: the Results Deviation Parameter (RDP) and the Previous Studies Parameter (PSP). The analysis, even though it confirms a significant deviation from the expected ideal/linear result, offers results fairly coherent as well as the pattern of these results and previous academic studies of students.

Recent advances in geophysical methods have been increasingly exploited as inverse modeling tools in groundwater hydrology. In particular, several attempts to constrain the hydrogeophysical inverse problem to reduce inversion errors have been made using time-lapse geophysical measurements through both coupled and uncoupled (also known as sequential) inversion approaches. Despite the appeal and popularity of coupled inversion approaches, their superiority over uncoupled methods has not been proved conclusively; the goal of this work is to provide an objective comparison between the two approaches within a specific inversion modeling framework based on the ensemble Kalman filter (EnKF). Using EnKF and a model of Lagrangian transport, we compare the performance of a fully coupled and uncoupled inversion method for the reconstruction of heterogeneous saturated hydraulic conductivity fields through the assimilation of ERT-monitored tracer test data. The two inversion approaches are tested in a number of different scenarios, including isotropic and anisotropic synthetic aquifers, where we change the geostatistical parameters used to generate the prior ensemble of hydraulic conductivity fields. Our results show that the coupled approach outperforms the uncoupled when the prior statistics are close to the ones used to generate the true field. Otherwise, the coupled approach is heavily affected by “filter inbreeding” (an undesired effect of variance underestimation typical of EnKF), while the uncoupled approach is more robust, being able to correct biased prior information, thanks to its capability of capturing the solute travel times even in presence of inversion artifacts such as the violation of mass balance. Furthermore, the coupled approach is more computationally intensive than the uncoupled, due to the much larger number of forward runs required by the electrical model. Overall, we conclude that the relative merit of the coupled versus the uncoupled approach cannot be

[EN] This Bachelor's Thesis refers the process of restauration of the façade of the Evangelical Lutheran Christus‐Kirchengemeinde Church, located in Schillerstraße, Bremerhaven in the north of Germany. This thesis has been developed because of the necessity to find a solution for the problems with the mortar adherence to the masonry bricks that has appeared in some parts of the façade of the Church due to humidity issues. The problem affects the adherence between the mortar and the impermeable surface of the enamel bricks. Once the cause has been isolated, the solution chosen has been to look for a different mortar with a higher adherence with the impermeable surface and also a minimal strength in order to support loads. A high percentage of the tested mortars had a good adherence with the clay surface. Nevertheless, some of them were discarded because they were detached of the enamel surface even before the tests were made. Finally, it have been found two mortars with good adherence with the enameled surface. They are designated as MORTAR 6 and MORTAR 8 and they have an adherence strength of 0,370 N/mm2 and 0,157 N/mm2 respectively., [ES] El presente Trabajo Fin de Grado refiere el proceso de restauración de la fachada de la Iglesia Evangélica Luterana Christus-Kirchengemeinde, ubicada en Schillerstraße, Bremerhaven, en el norte de Alemania. Este trabajo surge por la necesidad de encontrar una solución para los problemas de adherencia del mortero con los los ladrillos de albañilería que se ha manifestado en algunas partes de la fachada debido a problemas de humedad. El problema afecta a la adherencia entre el mortero y la superficie impermeable de los ladrillos de esmalte. Tras el análisis de la causa, se ha decidido buscar un mortero diferente. Ha sido necesario encontrar un mortero con una alta adherencia con la superficie impermeable y también con una resistencia mínima que lo haga apto para que pueda soportar cargas. Un alto porcentaje de los morteros ensayados tenía una buena adherencia con la superficie de arcilla. Sin embargo, algunos de ellos se separaron incluso antes de realizar la prueba con la superficie esmaltada. Esta razón ha hecho descartar estos morteros. Finalmente se han encontrado dos morteros con la característica de adherencia óptima con el esmaltado, que son los designados como MORTERO 6 y el MORTERO 8. con una fuerza de 0.370 N / mm2 y 0157 N / mm2 respectivamente.

[ES] El sector de la edificación representa un 40% del consumo energético total de la Unión Europea. Teniendo esto en cuenta, este trabajo se centra en reducir el consumo y las emisiones de CO2 que produce una vivienda. El edificio objeto de estudio es una vivienda unifamiliar entre medianeras, cuya construcción data del año 2005 en la localidad de Tabernes Blanques, en L’Horta Nord de Valencia. Se han estudiado las estrategias bioclimáticas de las que dispone la vivienda. A continuación se ha realizado un análisis térmico de la envolvente y de las carpinterías exteriores mediante el cálculo de la transmitancia y además, se han plasmado las características de cada equipo ya sea de climatización o calefacción; también se ha analizado el consumo tanto de gas como de luz; se ha explicado cómo se han introducido los datos en el programa informático CALENER VYP y su posterior resultado en la certificación energética de la vivienda. Por último se han planteado las propuestas de mejoras analizando tanto su ahorro energético que conllevan como su coste económico con el objetivo de reducir la demanda al máximo y con ello consumo y emisiones., [EN] The building sector accounts for 40% of the total energy consumption in the European Union. With this in mind, this work focuses on reducing consumption and CO2 emissions produced by a single housing. The building under consideration is a single-family housing between party walls, which was built in 2005 in the town of Tavernes Blanques in L'Horta Nord Valencia. We have studied the bioclimatic strategies available in the house. Then we have carried out a thermal analysis of the envelope and exterior carpentry by calculating the transmittance and also have reflected the characteristics of each equipment either air conditioning or heating; it has also been analyzed the consumption of both gas and light. It has also been explained how to enter the data into the computer program CALENER PVY and the subsequent results in the energy certification of the housing. Finally, proposals of improvement have been raised analyzing both the involving energy savings as its cost in order to reduce demand consumption and emissions at the maximum.

Ha sido necesario encontrar un mortero con una alta adherencia con la superficie impermeable y también con una resistencia mínima que lo haga apto para que pueda soportar cargas. Un alto porcentaje de los morteros ensayados tenía una buena adherencia con la superficie de arcilla. Sin embargo, algunos de ellos se separaron incluso antes de realizar la prueba con la superficie esmaltada. Esta razón ha hecho descartar estos morteros. Finalmente se han encontrado dos morteros con la característica de adherencia óptima con el esmaltado, que son los designados como MORTERO 6 y el MORTERO 8. con una fuerza de 0.370 N / mm2 y 0157 N / mm2 respectivamente.

Teniendo esto en cuenta, este trabajo se centra en reducir el consumo y las emisiones de CO2 que produce una vivienda. El edificio objeto de estudio es una vivienda unifamiliar entre medianeras, cuya construcción data del año 2005 en la localidad de Tabernes Blanques, en L’Horta Nord de Valencia. Se han estudiado las estrategias bioclimáticas de las que dispone la vivienda. A continuación se ha realizado un análisis térmico de la envolvente y de las carpinterías exteriores mediante el cálculo de la transmitancia y además, se han plasmado las características de cada equipo ya sea de climatización o calefacción; también se ha analizado el consumo tanto de gas como de luz; se ha explicado cómo se han introducido los datos en el programa informático CALENER VYP y su posterior resultado en la certificación energética de la vivienda. We have studied the bioclimatic strategies available in the house. Then we have carried out a thermal analysis of the envelope and exterior carpentry by calculating the transmittance and also have reflected the characteristics of each equipment either air conditioning or heating; it has also been analyzed the consumption of both gas and light. It has also been explained how to enter the data into the computer program CALENER PVY and the subsequent results in the energy certification of the housing. Finally, proposals of improvement have been raised analyzing both the involving energy savings as its cost in order to reduce demand consumption and emissions at the maximum.

Recent advances in geophysical methods have been increasingly exploited as inverse modeling tools in groundwater hydrology. In particular, several attempts to constrain the hydrogeophysical inverse problem to reduce inversion errors have been made using time-lapse geophysical measurements through both coupled and uncoupled (also known as sequential) inversion approaches. Despite the appeal and popularity of coupled inversion approaches, their superiority over uncoupled methods has not been proved conclusively; the goal of this work is to provide an objective comparison between the two approaches within a specific inversion modeling framework based on the ensemble Kalman filter (EnKF). Using EnKF and a model of Lagrangian transport, we compare the performance of a fully coupled and uncoupled inversion method for the reconstruction of heterogeneous saturated hydraulic conductivity fields through the assimilation of ERT-monitored tracer test data. The two inversion approaches are tested in a number of different scenarios, including isotropic and anisotropic synthetic aquifers, where we change the geostatistical parameters used to generate the prior ensemble of hydraulic conductivity fields. Our results show that the coupled approach outperforms the uncoupled when the prior statistics are close to the ones used to generate the true field. Otherwise, the coupled approach is heavily affected by “filter inbreeding” (an undesired effect of variance underestimation typical of EnKF), while the uncoupled approach is more robust, being able to correct biased prior information, thanks to its capability of capturing the solute travel times even in presence of inversion artifacts such as the violation of mass balance. Furthermore, the coupled approach is more computationally intensive than the uncoupled, due to the much larger number of forward runs required by the electrical model. Overall, we conclude that the relative merit of the coupled versus the uncoupled approach cannot be

[EN] This Bachelor's Thesis refers the process of restauration of the façade of the Evangelical Lutheran Christus‐Kirchengemeinde Church, located in Schillerstraße, Bremerhaven in the north of Germany. This thesis has been developed because of the necessity to find a solution for the problems with the mortar adherence to the masonry bricks that has appeared in some parts of the façade of the Church due to humidity issues. The problem affects the adherence between the mortar and the impermeable surface of the enamel bricks. Once the cause has been isolated, the solution chosen has been to look for a different mortar with a higher adherence with the impermeable surface and also a minimal strength in order to support loads. A high percentage of the tested mortars had a good adherence with the clay surface. Nevertheless, some of them were discarded because they were detached of the enamel surface even before the tests were made. Finally, it have been found two mortars with good adherence with the enameled surface. They are designated as MORTAR 6 and MORTAR 8 and they have an adherence strength of 0,370 N/mm2 and 0,157 N/mm2 respectively., [ES] El presente Trabajo Fin de Grado refiere el proceso de restauración de la fachada de la Iglesia Evangélica Luterana Christus-Kirchengemeinde, ubicada en Schillerstraße, Bremerhaven, en el norte de Alemania. Este trabajo surge por la necesidad de encontrar una solución para los problemas de adherencia del mortero con los los ladrillos de albañilería que se ha manifestado en algunas partes de la fachada debido a problemas de humedad. El problema afecta a la adherencia entre el mortero y la superficie impermeable de los ladrillos de esmalte. Tras el análisis de la causa, se ha decidido buscar un mortero diferente. Ha sido necesario encontrar un mortero con una alta adherencia con la superficie impermeable y también con una resistencia mínima que lo haga apto para que pueda soportar cargas. [ES] Este TFG estudia una vivienda unifamiliar ubicada en Benaguasil con vistas a la mejora de su eficiencia energética. Después del estudio de la situación inicial y una primera clasificación (clase D), se realizan simulaciones con nuevas envolventes e instalaciones para mejorar la clasificación energética hasta alcanzar una clase A aplicando las nuevas tecnologías (biomasa). Posteriormente se realiza un estudio de viabilidad económica así como el plazo de amortización de dicha intervención., [CA] Aquest TFG estudia una vivenda unifamiliar ubicada a Benaguasil amb vista a la millora de la seua eficiència energètica. Després de l’estudi de la situació incial i una primera classificació (classe D), s’han realitzat unes simulacions de noves envolvents e instal·lacions per a millorar la classificació energètica fins a aconseguir una clase A aplicant les noves tecnologíes (biomassa). After studying the initial situation and achieving a first clasification (D class), we applied the new technologies (biomass) to reach A level using different enclosure walls and equipment simulations. After that an economic viability study and a repayment term have been done.
