In this paper we determine the necessary and sufficient conditions for asymptotically stability of periodic cycles for periodic difference equations by using the Jury's conditions. Such conditions are obtained using the information of the Jacobian matrices of the individual maps, avoiding thus the computation of the Jacobian matrix of the composition operator, which in higher dimension can be an a very difficult task. A study done by Frost and Sullivan showed that distributed digital process control system sales will increase fifty percent each year, until 1990 when sales will equal $3.6 billion. Recent developments in additive manufacturing techniques have facilitated the fabrication of fiber-reinforced composite materials. In this paper, the mechanical properties and deformation mechanisms of discontinuous and continuous fiber-reinforced composites fabricated by various additive manufacturing techniques are comprehensively reviewed. The effects of fiber type, orientation and weight/volume fraction, printing path, and stacking sequence on the mechanical properties of additively manufactured composites are discussed. In addition, the applications of additively manufactured composites, the main challenges of the current additive manufacturing techniques, and recommendations for future work are also presented. Purpose – The main purpose of this paper is to find convenient methods to solve the differential-algebraic equations which have great importance in various fields of science and engineering. Design/methodology/approach – The paper applies a semi-analytical approach, using both the homotopy analysis method (HAM) and the modified homotopy analysis method (MHAM) for finding the solution of linear and nonlinear DAEs. Findings – The results show that the new modification can effectively reduce computational costs and accelerates the rapid convergence of the series solution. In this paper, we provide a comprehensive survey of the mixture of experts (ME). We discuss the fundamental models for regression and classification and also their training with the expectation-maximization algorithm. We follow the discussion with improvements to the ME model and focus particularly on the mixtures of Gaussian process experts. We provide a review of the literature for other training methods, such as the alternative localized ME training, and cover the variational learning of ME in detail. In addition, we describe the model selection literature which encompasses finding the optimum number of experts, as well as the depth of the tree. We present the advances in ME in the classification area and present some issues concerning the classification model. We list the statistical properties of ME, discuss how the model has been modified over the years, compare ME to some popular algorithms, and list several applications. We conclude our survey with future directions and provide a list of publicly available datasets and a list of publicly available software that implement ME. Finally, we provide examples for regression and classification. We believe that the study described in this paper will provide quick access to the relevant literature for researchers and practitioners who would like to improve or use ME, and that it will stimulate further studies in ME. Transparent conductive films are used ubiquitously in optoelectronic devices. The properties of transparent films are extremely important for device performance, and the specifications vary according to types of devices. Over the past few years, various types of transparent conductive films on the basis of nanomaterials have emerged, and among these materials, silver nanowire networks show promising performance and represent a viable alternative to the commonly used, scarce and brittle indium tin oxide. In this paper, the working principle and the design protocol of Ag nanowire network flexible transparent conductive films are reviewed, and the applications of Ag nanowires transparent conductive film are also briefly introduced. Abstract: Power law distributions, also known as heavy tail distributions, model distinct real life phenomena in the areas of biology, demography, computer science, economics, information theory, language, and astronomy, amongst others. In this paper, it is presented a review of the literature having in mind applications and possible explanations for the use of power laws in real phenomena.
