As the energy system continues to evolve and advance, a relatively single energy system gradually turns to the comprehensive energy system. With the advancement of technology related to electric vehicle networks progresses, the flexible load in the power system has been significantly improved, and there will be more and more schedulable resources in the power system. On this basis, the paper mainly studies the integrated energy system including the power station of electric driven vehicles and a variety of flexible loads. First, an intelligent energy system model is built, including wind power, ES, cogeneration units, gas boilers, etc. Secondly, according to the flexible load response of electricity, heat and gas, the dynamic response of flexible loads such as electricity, heat and natural gas is incorporated into the optimal scheduling of the integrated energy system, and a model has been created for optimizing the integrated energy system with the goal of minimizing the system operational expenses. Finally, YALMIP is utilized to formulate the problem during modeling, while CPLEX is employed as the solver to find a solution. Through the example calculation, the system operation cost is reduced by 13.04%, the wind power consumption rate is increased by 8.65%, and the peak valley difference is reduced by 24.58%. This approach has been demonstrated to lower the overall operational expenses of the system, as well as assist in smoothing out peak and off-peak electricity demand, and increase the utilization of wind power.

A variety of 1,2,4-oxadiazoline derivatives were synthesized in moderate to good yields through a deoxygenative cyclization cascade reaction of N-vinyl-α,β-unsaturated nitrones and hydroxamoyl chlorides. Mechanistic studies revealed that the reaction underwent double additions of nitrile oxides to N-vinyl-α,β-unsaturated nitrones, sequential elimination, and intramolecular cyclization to afford 1,2,4-oxadiazolines. Alternatively, 1,2,5-oxadiazolines were also obtained as major products in i-PrOH solvent through [3 + 3] cycloaddition and selective [3,3]-rearrangement. Moreover, the prepared 1,2,4-oxadiazolines were easily converted to polysubstituted pyrroles under thermal conditions.

A type of quinoxaline-derived tridentate N,N,O-ligand was synthesized in good to excellent yields over three steps through iodination of 2-aryl indoles, sequential Kornblum-type oxidation with DMSO, and capture by 1,2-diaminobenzenes. The prepared atropisomeric N,N,O-ligand was successfully applied in the synthesis of N-vinyl cinnamaldehyde nitrones as only Z-isomers in good yields through the Chan-Lam reaction. The method features an easily accessed tunable tridentate N,N,O-ligand, broad substrate scope, good functional group tolerance, and high Z-isomer for N-vinyl nitrones.

We describe the difunctionalization of arylboronic acids to prepare various N-(2-hydroxyaryl)pyridin-2-ones in good yields using N-hydroxypyridin-2-ones as the oxygen and nitrogen sources through a copper(II)-catalyzed Chan–Lam reaction and subsequent BF3-promoted selective 1,3-rearrangement of N–O bond in a one-pot procedure. Mechanistic studies reveal that the 1,3-rearrangement selectivity is controlled by the formation of the key aryloxypyridinium salt. The obtained products are easily converted to various useful pyridin-2-one scaffolds.

A variety of oxazabicyclo[4.2.1]nonanone derivatives were prepared in good yields through a cinchonidine-catalyzed cascade reaction of N-aryl-α,β-unsaturated nitrones and 1-ethynylnaphthalen-2-ols. Mechanistic studies show that the reaction undergoes a [4 + 3] cycloaddition of nitrones to vinylidene o-quinone methide generated in situ from 1-ethynylnaphthalen-2-ols in the presence of cinchonidine, 1,3-rearrangement of N–O vinyl moieties, ring-opening, and finally double intramolecular cyclizations to afford oxazabicyclo[4.2.1]nonanones over five steps in a one-pot reaction.

Storm surges are cataclysmic natural disasters that occur along the coasts and are usually accompanied by large waves. The effects of coupled storm surges and waves can pose a significant threat to coastal security. Previous laboratory studies on the effects of storm surges and waves on coastal structures have typically utilized steady water levels and constant wave elements. An indoor simulation of the coupled processes of tides and waves is developed by adding a tide generation system to an existing laboratory wave basin to model continuous dynamic tide levels so that tide generation and wave-making occur synchronously in the pool. Specific experimental methods are given, which are applied to further study waves overtopping on artificial sea dikes and coastal flooding evolution under the coupled actions of tides and waves. The results of the overtopping discharge obtained by the test with a dynamic water level are compared with those obtained from steady water level tests and the existing empirical formula. In addition, the impacts of ecological coastal shelterbelts and structures on coastal flood processes and distributions are also investigated. The proposed simulation methods provide a new approach for studying the effects of storm surges and waves on coastal areas. The study also aims to provide a reference for coastal protective engineering.

With the increasing construction of artificial beach in coastal areas, it is of practical significance to study the beach surface deformation of artificial beach profile. Previous studies only focus on a single wave dynamic factor, and it is difficult to predict the beach deformation of artificial beach profile under the storm surge—wave co-action. To solve this problem, the cross-section physical model test method was used to study the beach surface deformation of a typical artificial beach profile in Shuangdao Bay, Weihai, Shandong Province, after continuous wave actions till they stabilize. The characteristics of beach surface deformation under the conditions of constant water levels, ladder-shaped water level combined with corresponding wave elements and storm surge—wave co-action are compared and analyzed. A beach profile model which satisfies the theory of Bruun model is proposed. The test results show that the maximum scour depth of beach under storm surge—wave co-action is smaller and the scour range is obviously larger than that under the condition of constant water levels or ladder-shaped water level. The evaluation of the maximum scour depth by traditional model test tends to be conservative while the evaluation of the scour range is insufficient. The research results can provide scientific reference for designing artificial beaches.

We describe a P-containing palladacycle-catalyzed regioselective Heck reaction of 2,3-dihydrofuran with diaryliodonium salts and aryl iodides to afford 2-aryl-2,5-dihydrofurans and 2-aryl-2,3-dihydrofurans, respectively, in good yields. Mechanistic studies revealed that the oxidative addition of diaryliodonium salts to palladacycles to form Pd(IV) species showed high chemoselectivity and that electron-rich aryl moieties were preferentially transferred to the Heck product. DFT calculations indicated that the regioselectivity-determining step is the reductive elimination reaction rather than the isomerization and reinsertion of Pd(IV)–hydride intermediates into the double bond.

Understanding the genetic mechanisms of phenotypic variation in hybrids between domestic animals and their wild relatives may aid germplasm innovation. Here, we report the high-quality genome assemblies of a male Pamir argali (O. ammon polii, 2n= 56), a female Tibetan sheep (O. aries, 2n= 54), and a male hybrid of Pamir argali and domestic sheep, and the high-throughput sequencing of 425 ovine animals, including the hybrids of argali and domestic sheep. We detected genomic synteny between Chromosome 2 of sheep and two acrocentric chromosomes of argali. We revealed consistent satellite repeats around the chromosome breakpoints, which could have resulted in chromosome fusion. We observed many more hybrids with karyotype 2n= 54 than with 2n= 55, which could be explained by the selfish centromeres, the possible decreased rate of normal/balanced sperm, and the increased incidence of early pregnancy loss in the aneuploid ewes or rams. We identified genes and variants associated with important morphological and production traits (e.g., body weight, cannon circumference, hip height, and tail length) that show significant variations. We revealed a strong selective signature at the mutation (c.334C > A, p.G112W) in TBXTand confirmed its association with tail length among sheep populations of wide geographic and genetic origins. We produced an intercross population of 110 F2offspring with varied number of vertebrae and validated the causal mutation by whole-genome association analysis. We verified its function using CRISPR-Cas9 genome editing. Our results provide insights into chromosomal speciation and phenotypic evolution and a foundation of genetic variants for the breeding of sheep and other animals.

Aiming at the thermocapillary convection stability of sapphire crystal grown by liquid-encapsulated Czochralski method, by non-linear numerical simulation, obtained the flow function and temperature distribution of R-Z cross section, as well as the velocity and temperature distribution at liquid-liquid interface and monitoring point of B2O3/sapphire melt in annular two liquid system, covered with solid upper wall and in microgravity. By means of linear stability analysis, obtained the neutral stability curve and critical stability parameters of the system, and revealed the temperature fluctuation of the liquid-liquid interface. The calculated results of B2O3/sapphire melt were compared with 5cSt silicone oil/HT-70. The results show that under the same geometrical conditions, the flow of B2O3/sapphire melt system is more unstable than 5cSt silicone oil/HT-70, there are two unstable flow patterns, radial three-dimensional steady flow cell and hydrothermal waves near the hot wall. The larger the ratio of Pr number of upper and lower fluid layers is, the better the effect of restraining the flow of lower fluid layers is.

Electronic devices with high heat flux are currently facing heat dissipation problems. Heat pipes can be used as efficient heat spreaders to address this critical problem. However, as electronic devices become smaller, the space for heat dissipation is becoming ever so limited; hence, ultrathin heat pipes are desired. This study proposes a biomimetic copper forest wick for an ultrathin heat pipe (UTHP). It is made by a simple one-step electrodeposition process and appears as a natural forest structure with abundant Ω-like grooves. Capillary rise tests with ethanol were performed to characterize the capillary force of the wick structure. Compared to traditional sintered particles, this wick structure has a much higher capillary performance parameter, K/Reff. The biomimetic copper forest wick was used to fabricate a 0.6 mm thick UTHP. The UTHP was tested at different filling ratios; the optimum filling ratio was found to be about 71%. At a heating power of 6 W, the temperature difference between the condenser and evaporator was only 1.2 °C, with an effective thermal conductivity, λeff, up to 1.26 × 104W m–1K–1.

Camptothecin (CPT) exhibits potent antitumor activity; however, its clinical application is limited by significant gastrointestinal adverse effects (GAEs). Although the severity of GAEs associated with CPT derivatives has decreased, the incidence rate of these adverse effects has remained high. CPT multifunctional nanoparticles (PCRHNs) have the potential to increase the efficacy of CPT while reducing side effects in major target organs; however, the impact of PCRHNs on the GAEs from CPT remains uncertain. Here, we investigated the therapeutic effects of PCRHNs and different doses of CPT and examined their impacts on the intestinal barrier and the intestinal microbiota. We found that the therapeutic efficacy of PCRHNs+Laser treatment was superior to that of high-dose CPT, and PCRHNs+Laser treatment also provided greater benefits by helping maintain intestinal barrier integrity, intestinal microbiota diversity, and intestinal microbiota abundance. In summary, compared to high-dose CPT treatment, PCRHNs+Laser treatment can effectively balance therapeutic effects and GAEs. A high dose of CPT promotes the enrichment of the pathogenic bacteria Escherichia-Shigella, which may be attributed to diarrhea caused by CPT, thus leading to a reduction in microbial burden; additionally, Escherichia-Shigellarapidly grows and occupies niches previously occupied by other bacteria that are lost due to diarrhea. PCRHNs+Laser treatment increased the abundance of Lactobacillus(probiotics), possibly due to the photothermal effect of the PCRHNs. This effect increased catalase activity, thus facilitating the conversion of hydrogen peroxide into oxygen within tumors and increasing oxygen levels in the body, which is conducive to the growth of facultative anaerobic bacteria.

The development of general and practical strategies toward the construction of medium-sized rings is still challenging in organic synthesis, especially for the multiple stereocenters control of substituted groups on the ring owing to the long distance between groups. Thus, stereoselective synthesis of multi-substituted ten-membered rings is attractive. Herein, a rapid assembly of various highly substituted ten-membered nitrogen heterocycles between two 1,3-dipoles through a tandem [3 + 3] cycloaddition/aza-Claisen rearrangement of N-vinyl-α,β-unsaturated nitrones and aza-oxyallyl or oxyallyl cations are disclosed. Products containing two or multiple stereocenters could be obtained in up to 96% yield with high regioselectivity and diastereoselectivity. Selective N-O bond cleavages of ten-membered nitrogen heterocycles lead to various novel 5,6,6-perifused benzofurans, bicyclo[4.4.0] or bicyclo[5.3.0] skeletons containing three or multiple continuous stereocenters in good yields and high diastereoselectivity. Biological tests show that the obtained ten-membered N-heterocycles and bicyclo[4.4.0] skeletons inhibited nitric oxide generation in LPS-stimulated RAW264.7 cells and might serve as good anti-inflammatory agents.

We described an iron(III) and BF3·OEt2-promoted oxygen transfer reaction of N-aryl-α,β-unsaturated nitrones to prepare various N,O-difluoroboron β-ketoiminates in good yields ranging from 24% to 87%. Control experiments revealed that the enaminone was the vital intermediate for the formation of N,O-difluoroboron β-ketoiminates, and iron(III) combined with BF3·OEt2played as cocatalyst to promote the oxygen transfer reaction through intramolecular cyclization and N–O bond cleavage. More importantly, an estrone-derived N,O-difluoroboron β-ketoiminate was easily prepared in 40% yield from estrone in four steps.

Herein, we described a copper(I)-catalyzed dearomatization of benzofurans with 2-(chloromethyl)anilines to prepare various tetrahydrobenzofuro[3,2-b]quinolines and 2-(quinolin-2-yl)phenols in good to excellent yields through radical addition and an intramolecular cyclization process. Mechanistic studies revealed that 2-(chloromethyl)anilines served as radical precursors. The present method features broad substrate scope, good functional group tolerance, quinoline scaffold diversity, and radical addition dearomatization of benzofurans.

An approach for the construction of furo[3,2-b]quinolines and furo[2,3-b:4,5-b′]diquinolines is developed through a metal-free [4 + 2] cycloaddition of easily available in situ generated aza-o-quinone methides and furans. The reaction tolerates a wide range of aza-o-quinone methides and substituted furans to afford the corresponding dihydro- or tetrahydrofuroquinolines in good to excellent yields. Mechanistic studies reveal that the reaction involves a concerted [4 + 2] cycloaddition pathway and shows a high regioselectivity of cycloaddition for a furan ring. The present method features mild reaction conditions, dearomatization of furans, high regio- and diastereoselectivity, gram-scalable preparations, and diversity of furoquinolines.

A nickel(II)-catalyzed oxygen transfer reaction of dibenzylideneacetone-derived N-vinyl-α,β-unsaturated nitrones has been identified for the preparation of polysubstituted 2-(pyridin-2-yl)ethanols in good yields with high atom economy. The scope of the method is described, and mechanistic experiments are discussed. The reaction was easily performed at gram scales, and pyrido[2,3-c]carbazole was obtained in moderate yield over three steps.

By means of high-speed emulsification and ultrasonic dispersing, emamectin benzoate (EB)–sodium lignosulfonate (SL) nanoformulation (EBSLNf) with a particle size of 150–250 nm was developed by the electrostatic self-assembly of SL and EB. The morphology of the nanoformulation was characterized by UV, IR, dynamic light scattering, fluorescence spectra (FS), scanning electron microscopy, and transmission electron microscopy. The results of antiphotolysis and the controlled release test for EBSLNfshowed that the antiphotolysis ability of the nanoformulation is four times higher than that of the commercial EB-emulsifiable concentrate, and the nanoformulation has a pH-responsive controlled release function. The release ratio in different pH media was acidic > neutral > basic. Moreover, the insecticidal effective duration of EBSLNfwas more than one time longer than that of EB-suspension concentrate in the greenhouse. Therefore, EBSLNfhas broad application prospects in agricultural production and environmental protection because of its easy preparation, low cost, and being environment-friendly. Thus, the strategy is suitable for large-scale industrial production.

Ride-sourcing services have become increasingly vital in meeting on-demand mobility needs. However, safety issues and public health concerns are obstacles for passengers' trust in ride-sourcing service providers. In this paper, we propose a stochastic evolutionary dynamic game approach to modeling and managing the ride-sourcing market with limited platform reputation, and interpret some intriguing phenomena in terms of passengers' and drivers' travel behavior, e.g. survivor bias, reciprocity, and tragedy of the commons. A stochastic state dynamic game model is formulated to capture complicated interactions among three games/states, i.e. trust game, complaint game, and rating-based game. The stationary distribution of each state and transitional probabilities are deducted from the stochastic game theory. We analyze the ride-sourcing system's evolution and reveal its intrinsic mechanism based on the model. We found that, if the governmental support for complaints is inadequate and passengers bear the high complaint costs, drivers will be more inclined to compensate passengers privately (i.e. reciprocity) to escape punishment for unqualified service. As a result, the service quality will deteriorate in the long run. To prevent the deterioration of service quality, we explore adaptive pricing strategies for the ride-sourcing platform and suggest managerial strategies for the government. This paper bridges the gap between the dynamic evolution and the mechanism of trust in ride-sourcing services, which has been seldom studied in the literature. All of the analytical results are illustrated by numerical experiments.

An atom-economical and practical method for the efficient synthesis of various pyrazino[1,2-a]indole-2-oxides was developed through a nickel(II)-catalyzed [5 + 1] annulation of 2-carbonyl-1-propargylindoles with hydroxylamine in water without using an organic solvent. The reaction involved an initial condensation of 2-carbonyl-1-propargylindoles with hydroxylamine to afford oxime intermediates, which then underwent a nickel(II)-catalyzed 6-exo-dig cyclization. Preliminary studies showed that (n-Bu)4NI served as a phase transfer catalyst and promoted the formation of active nickel(II) species. More importantly, the nickel(II) salt and phase transfer catalyst-in-water could be recycled seven times, and a gram scalable product was easily obtained in good yields through a filtration and washing protocol.

Currently, the simple integration of multiple therapeutic agents within a single nanostructure for combating multidrug resistance (MDR) tumors yet remains a challenge. Herein, we report a photoresponsive nanocluster (NC) system prepared by installing polydopamine (PDA) nanoparticle clusters on the surface of d-α-tocopheryl poly(ethylene glycol) 1000 succinate (TPGS) (a drug efflux inhibitor) micelles solubilized with IR780 (a photosensitizer) to achieve a combined chemotherapy (CT)/photothermal therapy (PTT)/photodynamic therapy (PDT) for drug-resistant breast cancer. Mediated by the fluorescence resonance energy transfer and radical scavenging properties of PDA, NC shows prominently quenched fluorescence emission (∼78%) and inhibited singlet oxygen generation (∼67%) upon exposure to near-infrared (NIR) light (808 nm, 0.5 W cm–2), favoring a highly efficient PTT module. Meanwhile, the photothermal heat can also boost the release of doxorubicin hydrochloride whose intracellular accumulation can be greatly enhanced by TPGS. Interestingly, the first NIR irradiation and subsequent incubation (∼24 h) can induce the gradual relocation and disintegration of PDA nanoparticles, thereby leading to activated PDT therapy under the second irradiation. Upon the temporally controlled sequential application of PTT/PDT, the developed NC exhibited a great potential to treat MDR cancer both in vitro and in vivo. These findings suggest that complementary interactions among PTT/PDT/CT modalities can enhance the efficiency of the combined therapy for MDR tumor.

Single particle strength is the main factor that influences particle breakage. In order to explore particle strength characteristics and the relationship between the strength and size of calcareous sand from the South China Sea, single particle crushing tests were conducted using self-made test equipment. Hundreds of particles (0.72–3.12 mm) divided into three groups of different sizes were used to perform the test. The results show that the strength characteristics of the particles were similar to those of a typical brittle material and were lower than that of quartz sand. Under flat unconfined compression, two types of uniaxial compressive force–displacement curves were defined according to the tests, related to the shape and structure of the calcareous sand particles. Statistical data analysis shows that the calcareous sand particles’ strength is in good agreement with the Weibull distribution. The particle crushing strength decreases as the particle diameter increases. Different shapes of calcareous sand particles show different strength characteristics. In addition, the mineral composition, microstructure, distribution of inner voids and fracture are related to the particle strength of calcareous sand.

An efficient one-pot synthesis of polysubstituted pyrrolizines from N-vinyl-α,β-unsaturated nitrones and activated alkynes through iron(III)/copper(II)-cocatalyzed [3 + 2] cycloaddition/[3,3]-rearrangement and sequential N–O bond cleavage was developed. The reaction first underwent [3 + 2] cycloaddition and [3,3]-rearrangement to afford nine-membered N-heterocycles, and then a controlled N–O bond cleavage of nine-membered rings by iron(III)/copper(II) cocatalysts delivered pyrrolizine scaffolds. A kinetic resolution of nine-membered ring compounds was achieved for the first time by using copper(II) acetate combined with a chiral PyBox ligand.

Nanocarriers with high local curvatures hold a great potential of inducing effective penetration of intracellular barriers and cytosolic delivery of membrane-impermeable drugs. However, the fine control of the sharp edges and their morphological effects inside cells remains largely unexplored. Herein, a nanocarrier system of hybrid mesoporous nanorods with six-arm star-shaped end faces and groove-patterned lateral faces was developed to maximize surface regions with high local curvatures for enhancing membrane destabilization. Specifically, twisted (right-handed) nanorods (TNR, diameter ∼120, aspect ratio 4–5) with a hexagon cross-section from a templated synthesis were modified by amino groups to promote surface coating of a wet-adhesive polymer, i.e.polydopamine (PDA). An edge-preferential deposition of PDA by local curvature effects led to the protective etching of silica, and in turn, the formation of nanorods with varying groove depths at different volumes of the aqueous coating solution. Finally, branched polyethylene imine (PEI) was grafted on the exterior surface of the nanorods for enhancing the dispersity and cellular uptake rate. As verified by elaborate in vitroinvestigations, the configuration of nanorods with the sharpest edges/deepest grooves can be rotated to a lying-down/upright mode in order to minimize/maximize the membrane tension during the interaction with membranes, which consequently resulted in highly efficient lysosomal escape despite the relatively lower uptake degree. The successful delivery of vorinostat (SAHA, a FDA-approved histone deacetylase inhibitor) and inhibition of cancer cells demonstrated the attractive ability of the nanocarriers in drug delivery.

Various benzoxazonines were synthesized through a formal [7 + 2] cycloaddition of arynes with N-vinyl-α,β-unsaturated nitrones under mild conditions. Controllable N–O bond cleavage of benzoxazonines afforded polysubstituted pyrrole-tethered benzopyrans and acyclic ketone-substituted phenols in moderate to good yields. Further transformations provided a facile approach to access useful building blocks with specific stereoselectivity.

Nowadays, new emerging two-dimensional (2D) materials have become a hot topic in the field of theoretical physics, material science, and nanotechnology engineering due to their high surface area, planar structure, and quantum confinement effect. Within a two-dimensional framework, we systematically concentrate on the buckled and puckered systems consisting of the VA group elements (denoted as arsenene, antimonene, and bismuthene). Among these studied systems, the buckled antimonene harbors a thermoelectric figure of merit (ZT) of 2.15 at room temperature. This is probably the highest value that has ever been reported in pristine 2D materials. By simple biaxial strain engineering, the ZT can even get enhanced to 2.9 under 3% tensile strain. The enhancement mainly results from both tuning the electronic structures and reducing the thermal conductance. This work predicts a new promising candidate in thermoelectric devices, based on the fact that buckled antimonene has been lately fabricated and proved to be stable at ambient conditions.

Colorectal cancer causes the third most common type of malignant tumors with high morbidity and mortality. Chemotherapy is currently one of the most effective and common treatments for colorectal cancer. However, the poor water solubility of some chemotherapeutics, untargeted drug delivery, and the undesirable systemic side effects of conventional treatment remain the major issues for colorectal cancer chemotherapy. Fortunately, drug delivery systems (DDS) based on biomaterials have been widely investigated and found to be capable of resolving those issues with good performance. Therefore, the main goal of this review is to summarize and discuss the progress and potential advantages of different DDS for colorectal cancer chemotherapy. We not only reviewed the nanocarriers used to improve the solubility of chemotherapeutics, including liposomes, micelles, and nanoparticles, but also discussed targeted DDS based on specific ligand-receptor recognition and tumor microenvironmental stimulus responses. Furthermore, locally administered systems based on hydrogels and microspheres, which have been shown to increase drug accumulation at the tumor site while decreasing systemic toxicity, were also emphasized. DDS provides a good option for improving the efficacy of chemotherapy in the treatment of colorectal cancer.

A variety of spirooxindole-1,2-oxazinan-5-one derivatives were prepared in moderate to excellent yields through 2,2,2-trifluoroethanol (TFE)-promoted [3 + 3] cycloaddition of N-vinyl oxindole nitrones with oxyallyl cations generated from α-tosyloxy ketones under mild reaction conditions. Mechanistic studies revealed that [3 + 3] cycloaddition might involve two possible reaction pathways, including direct [3 + 3] cycloaddition of N-vinyl oxindole ntirones with oxyallyl cations, or the addition of TFE to N-vinyl oxindole nitrones, sequential addition to oxyallyl cations, elimination, and cyclization. The present method features mild reaction conditions, broad substrate scope, good functional group tolerance, easy gram scalable preparation, and new applications of TFE.

Recently, oil/water separation has attracted intensive attention due to the frequent crude oil spill accidents and the increasing amount of industrial wastewater. Thousands of outstanding achievements have been reported on the basis of membranes with superhydrophilicity and underwater superoleophobicity. However, a universal approach combining cheaper reagents with easier operations to fabricate superhydrophilic materials for effective oil/water separation is still a challenge and greatly encouraged. In the present work, we fabricate the superhydrophilic copper mesh decorated with nickel nanoparticles (Ni-NPs) via electrodeposition in fluorine-containing electrolyte. The size of Ni-NPs that consists of a metal Ni core and a polar NiO/Ni(OH)2shell is about 300 nm; what’s more, the Ni-NPs combine with each other to form treelike nickel crystals by varying the experimental parameters. This optimized mesh exhibits remarkable oil/water separation performance. The oil content in separated water is lower than 3 ppm, and the stability in acidic, alkaline, and salt solutions and the properties for repeated use are also excellent. Further, we provide a novel approach to synthesis superhydrophilic nanoparticles with a core–shell structure for coating or other applications such as catalysis, self-cleaning, antifogging, and so on.

Surface energy and roughness are well-known to be the two key factors for fabricating surfaces with superhydrophilicity or superwettability, and thousands of outstanding achievements have been reported on the basis of these two aspects in recent decades. However, for the physical chemistry community, it is still a challenge for making man-made superhydrophilic surface with universal and easy operating. Here, we describe the development of fluorine-induced superhydrophilicity (FIS) method to fabricate superhydrophilic interfaces via oxy-fluoridation process, in which the fluorine atoms are linked to metal or semimetal atoms in the form of −O–M–F (M is metal or semimetal atom), and a superhydrophilic interface can be obtained owing to the strong polarity bond of (semi)metal oxy-fluoride. Simulation results showed that hydrogen bonds are formed between water molecules and oxy-fluoridized (semi)metallic interfaces. The value of this FIS has been demonstrated through the successful surface treatment for Ti, Zn, Fe, Co, Ni, and Si and can be expanded to fabricate various superhydrophilic interfaces in the form of −Y–M–X (X = F, Cl, et al.; M = (semi)metals; Y = O, S, N, et al.) theoretically.

Thermoelectric material has the unique ability to directly convert waste heat into electricity, and theoretical guidance is an efficient method for exploring high-performance nanostructured thermoelectric materials. By using first-principles method, we systematically present the ballistic thermoelectric properties of four representative series of transition metal dichalcogenides (WSe2, MoSe2, WS2, and MoS2), each including monolayer, zigzag (10, 0), and armchair (6, 6) nanotubes. Consistent regularity can be seen for each considered series. From monolayer to small nanotubes, degeneration of thermoelectric figure of merit is observed, which indicates that transition metal dichalcogenide monolayers exhibit better thermoelectric performance than the small nanotubes. In addition, it is interesting to find out the divergence pattern with regard to the phononic thermal conductance, which points out that the room-temperature phononic thermal conductance of monolayers is bigger than that of zigzag (10, 0) nanotube but lower than that of armchair (6, 6) nanotube.

Fe2O3/γ-Al2O3 catalysts were prepared by the method of wet impregnation and were characterized by X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), N2 adsorption and Inductively Coupled Plasma-Optical Emission Spectrometry (ICP-OES), respectively. The activity of Fe2O3/γ-Al2O3 for catalytic wet peroxide oxidation (CWPO) of phenol was tested. The effects of the initial pH of the phenolic aqueous solutions and the iron content of Fe2O3/γ-Al2O3 on phenol degradation have been studied. The results indicated that almost total removal of phenol and considerably high reduction of COD for the initial phenol concentration of 100-1000 mg/L were achieved under mild conditions. The leached iron from the catalyst was negligible.

A variety of azetidine nitrones are prepared in moderate to good yields through copper(I) combined with 2-aminopyridine to catalyze skeletal rearrangement of O-propargylic oximes. Mechanistic studies reveal that the reaction undergoes a copper(I)-catalyzed tandem [2,3]-rearrangement, 4π-electrocyclization, ring opening, and recyclization over four steps in one pot. Substituents at the terminus of alkyne and oxime moieties have a significant impact on the formation of azetidine nitrones and exomethylene oxazolines, respectively. Furthermore, the obtained azetidine nitrone could easily participate in [3 + 2] cycloaddition with alkynoates, and a [2.2]-paracyclophane-derived azetidine nitrone is synthesized in 45% yield over five steps from bromo[2.2]-paracyclophane.

A variety of tetrahydro-5H-indolo[2,3-b]quinolines were prepared in 40–97% yields through a copper(II)-catalyzed cascade reaction of aza-o-quinone methides generated in situ from 2-(chloromethyl)anilines and indoles. Experimental results showed that the reaction underwent double 1,4-additions and sequential intramolecular cyclization. The present method features broad substrate scope, good functional group tolerance, and easy gram scalable preparation of indolo[2,3-b]quinolines.

The hot compression tests on a Gleeble-1500D thermal mechanics simulator were carried out under the strain rate range of 1~ 0.005s-1 at the temperature range of 873-1373K in order to evaluate the constitutive equation of 5Cr21Mn9Ni4N valve steel. All of the flow stress curves exhibit a single peak stress, after which the stress is followed by a steady state regime. The results indicate that the deforming behavior is strongly depending on the strain rate and the deforming temperature. According the experimental data, the hyperbolic law is used to develop the constitutive equations. In the constitutive equations, the effect of the deforming temperature and the strain rate are represented by the Zener-Hollomam parameter. And the flow stress curves are coinciding with the constitutive equation of .

In order to ensure the stable and standard discharge of mixed nitrogen sewage, Guangzhou Datansha Wastewater Treatment Plant has made a test using an inverted A2 / O process, with the actual Wastewater as entry water. When the ratio of mixed fecal sewage is 0.33%, the results showed that, extending the HRT(Hydraulic Retention Time) can help to enhance the effect of removing nitrogen, and HRT should be ensured at least 8 hours under the test conditions. And the increase of the concentration of dissolved oxygen can promote the effect of removing nitrogen ranging from 1.0 to 1.5 mg/L. And the sludge reflux ratio should be remained at 60%. Besides, the growth of sludge age has positive effect on nitrification, so the sludge age should be controlled in more than 20 days under the experimental conditions.

Free metal jacket: A regioselective metal‐free synthesis of polysubstituted pyrroles has been developed through a (diacetoxyiodo)benzene‐mediated cascade reaction of alkynyl amines in moderate to good yield (see scheme).

Abstract: The concentrations of up to 11 elements in subcellular fractions of human brain (normal and malignant tumor) have been determined by a combination of gradient centrifugation and INAA methods. Samples of human brain were homogenized in a glass homogenizer tube, the homogenate was separated into nuclei, mitochondrial, myelin, synaptosome fractions, and these fractions were then analyzed using the INAA method. The discussions of elemental subcellular distributions in human brain malignant tumor are presented in this paper.

Controlling the interfacial effect is facing challenges because of the weak interactions between the inorganic and the organic materials. We found that the silane coupling agents with −NH2groups (e.g., KH550) play a key role as a molecular bridge that links an inorganic silica template with an organic precursor (i.e., pyrrole) in the process of constructing a spherical silica core–polypyrrole shell structure. The molecular bridge is also suitable for inorganic core templates with cube or rod shapes for the construction of different core–shell structures. These template core–polymeric shell structures can be transformed into well-defined hollow carbons after carbonization and template removal. The outer diameter, hollow-core size, and carbon shell thickness of hollow carbon materials (e.g., hollow carbon spheres) could be facilely controlled by changing the template size or the pyrrole amount. We believe that our work will provide a guideline for the preparation of well-orchestrated carbon-based composites and their templated hollow carbons.

A variety of N-vinylindoles and N-vinylpyrroles were prepared in moderate to good yields through the nickel(II)-catalyzed [3 + 2] cycloaddition of α,β-unsaturated nitrones with allenoates under mild reaction conditions. A rational mechanism for the formation of N-vinylindoles was proposed based on the 18O-labeled experiments and key intermediates detected by high-resolution mass spectrometry trace experiments. The present method highlights a nickel(II)-controlled cyclization, atom-economical reaction, broad substrate scope, good functional group tolerance, and high Z-stereoselectivity for the enamine bond.

Inhibiting the function of P‐glycoprotein (P‐gp) transporter, which causes drug efflux through adenosine triphosphate (ATP)‐dependent manner, has become an effective strategy to conquer multidrug resistance (MDR) of cancer cells. However, there remains challenges for effective co‐delivery, sequential release of P‐gp modulator and chemotherapeutic agent. In this work, a novel type of core–shell nanoparticle is reported. It can independently encapsulate a high amount (about 683 µg mg−1) of chemotherapeutic agent doxorubicin (DOX) in the mesoporous polydopamine (MPDA) core and glucose oxidase (GOx) in the zeolite imidazolate frameworks‐8 (ZIF‐8) shell, namely MPDA@ZIF‐8/DOX+GOx. The fast release of GOx triggered by acid‐sensitive degradation of the ZIF‐8 shell consumes glucose to starve cancer cells for ATP deprivation and effective suppress ATP‐dependent drug efflux in advance, and then effectively facilitates the accumulation of DOX in MCF‐7/ADR cancer cells. Experiments in vitro and in vivo demonstrate that the fabricated nanosystem can dramatically improve anticancer effects for MDR through sequential release property and exhibit excellent biocompatibility. Overall, this work reveals new insights in the use of GOx for MDR treatment. The GOx and DOX are co‐loaded into core–shell MPDA/ZIF‐8 nanosystem to realize starvation‐therapy and enhanced‐chemotherapy. The first released GOx via acid‐triggered ZIF‐8 degradation starves cancer cells, leading to ATP deprivation to suppress P‐gp function. The subsequent release of DOX could efficiently be accumulated for conquering MDR of cancer cells.

An integrated thermal management system for a multi-compartment spacecraft is presented. The structure of the system, the mode of power allocation and thermal coupled of the fluid loop is presented in the paper. Simulations with SINDA/FLUINT are carried out to analyze the different working modes of power allocation and thermal coupled. The results show that the best mode is of which the power allocated to the middle and low power loop with coupling middle thermal loops. This mode produces an efficiency η ≈ 1 which means the power transferred is approximately equal to the power allocated. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
