To reconstruct and restore the functions of the male urethra is a challenging task for urologists. The acellular matrix graft currently used in the clinics is mono‐functional and may cause a series of complications including stricture, fibrosis, and stone formation. As a result, such graft materials cannot meet the increasing demand for multifunctionality in the field of urethral tissue engineering. In this context, a multifunctional urethral patch is designed for the repair of urethral defects by mixing protocatechualdehyde (PCA) with small intestinal submucosa (SIS) under an alkalin condition to allow cross linking. As shown, the PCA/SIS patch possesses excellent biocompatibility, antioxidant activity, and anti‐inflammatory property. More importantly, this patch can remarkably promote the adhesion, proliferation, and directional extension of rabbit bladder epithelial mucous cells (R‐EMCs) as well as rabbit bladder smooth muscle cells (R‐SMCs), and upregulate the expression of cytokeratin in the EMCs and contractile protein in the SMCs in vitro. In vivo experiments also confirm that the PCA/SIS patch can significantly enhance scarless repair of urethral defects in rabbits by facilitating smooth muscle regeneration, reducing excessive collagen deposition, and accelerating re‐epithelialization and neovascularization. Taken together, the newly developed multifunctional PCA/SIS patch provides a promising candidate for urethral regeneration. The multifunctional patch can remarkably promote scarless repair of urethral defects in a rabbit model by facilitating smooth muscle regeneration, reducing excessive collagen deposition, and accelerating re‐epithelialization, which has thereby provided a promising candidate for urethral regeneration.

The pheromone components of the legume pod borer, (E,E)-10,12-hexadecadienal, and the soybean pod borer, (E,E)-8,10-dodecadienyl acetate, were synthesized in good yields via Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reactions.

A new colorimetric ditopic receptor (1) was synthesized and characterized. Upon investigation of a series of anions, the appearance of the solution of receptor 1 with F? showed a colour change from light-yellowish to orange-red which can be detected by the naked eye. Upon subsequent addition of Na+ or Li+ to the solution, the orange-red colour was no longer observable. The remarkable colour switching (ON and OFF) is thus controlled by the anion and cation recognition.

In this study, we investigate the resistive switching behavior of radio frequency (rf)-sputtered Al2O3thin films. It is observed that both high-conducting state (ON state) and low-conducting state (OFF state) are stable and reproducible during successive resistive switchings by dc voltage sweeping. The ratio of resistance of the ON and OFF state is over 103. Such a reproducible resistive switching can be performed at 150°C, and the resistance of the ON state can be altered by various current compliances. The conduction mechanisms of the ON and OFF states are demonstrated as ohmic conduction and Frenkel-Poole emission, respectively. Both states, performed by dc voltage sweeping and applying short pulse, are stable over 104sat a read voltage of 0.3Vand the electrical-pulse-induced resistance change (EPIR) phenomenon is demonstrated, which are all important properties for further resistive random access memory application.
