This paper presents an implantable fluorescence system with a composite emission filter and fiber-coupled laser excitation. The composite structure of the short-pass interference filter and absorption filters exhibited a band-pass spectrum between 510 and 570 nm, which is close to green fluorescent protein (GFP) emission. A high-quality excitation light was achieved by utilizing a blue laser through a low-numerical-aperture optical fiber. This coupling method is beneficial in delivering a narrow spectrum and controllable irradiation light in a specific area to minimize auto-fluorescence from the tissue. The fabricated lensless system performance is experimentally validated by imaging emission. The proposed device is capable of perceiving fluorescence emission from microspheres and GFP noticeably. Heat transfer processes occurring in 3D bi-layered microdomain subjected to the ultra-short laser pulse are considered. The problem is described by the system of two dual-phase lag equations supplemented by appropriate boundary and initial conditions. The ideal contact condition at the interface between the layers in the case of the dual-phase lag model is formulated in a different way than in the macroscopic Fourier one. To solve the problem the general boundary element method is proposed. In the final part of the paper the examples of computations are presented, and the conclusions are formulated. In laser-guided bomb attacking process, the target indication from the laser target designator is the premise for the bomb to hit the target accurately. Considering the lack of quantitative study of the irradiation area of the laser target designator, this paper, based on the existing aircraft motion model and the laser transmission model, uses two aircraft as respectively the carrier of the laser-guided bomb and the carrier of the laser designator and proposes a method to calculate the global irradiation area of the airborne laser designator. By using the proposed algorithm, the global irradiation area when attacking a large flat target or a large spherical target is simulated respectively. Finally, according to the simulation results, the influences of different factors on the shapes of the irradiation area are discussed in detail. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The ever-shrinking CMOS technology favors digital circuitry but imposes a challenge to the analog designer faced with limitations such as process gradients and random device variations. However, the trend to greater integration and systems-on-chips (SoCs), requires that digital and analog blocks be merged into single chips. High resolution digital-analog converters (DACs) are especially sensitive to the final matching of components and their nominal accuracy is typically enhanced with additional calibration circuitry or laser trimming. Additional calibration circuits increase cost significantly and mainstream laser trimming technique is applied on thin film resistive layers that are not avail- able with most standard fabrication processes used for SoC. In this paper, we present a high-resolution DAC taking advantage of a new laser trimming technique which is compatible with standard CMOS processes, and that can be integrated in SoCs. While initial mismatch prevents reaching the targeted 14-bit resolution, the included tuning elements offer the necessary calibration to exceed the matching requirements and obtain the desired DAC linearity. The architecture of the DAC itself is a classic current-mode segmented resistor ladder: an inverted R2R ladder generating the binary weighted least significant bit currents is combined with unary current sources for the thermometer encoded most significant bits. The entire structure is precisely calibrated to obtain the final desired linearity. The effectiveness of the trimming technology and its application to high-accuracy DACs is demonstrated. Abstract: In this paper, we consider laser propulsion operating in near space (altitude of 20–100km) where the ambient gas is rarefied . For the rocket mode, a dense gas is injected into the focused region to generate high temperature plasma by laser beam focusing. A hybrid continuum/DSMC method is used to simulate the unsteady high temperature continuum flow coupled with the rarefied ambient air. An order of magnitude analysis, based on a simplified physical analysis, is provided for the impulse coupling coefficient and specific impulse. A 25 Gb/s laser diode (LD) driver has been developed on the basis of standard 65 nm CMOS technology for optical interconnects. The LD driver consists of a main driver capable of providing an average current of 30 mA and a predriver providing a gain of 20 dB. The main driver uses mutually coupled inductors to adjust the inductive peaking to improve eye patterns under various packaging conditions. The predriver uses CMOS active feedback to achieve a wide bandwidth and high gain, despite its small size and low power consumption.
