SEDGES AHEAD With their unfussy versatility and sneaky, copycat appearance, the sedges are quiet heroes-in-themaking for North American gardens. Sedge stems are solid and usually triangular (inspiring the memory aide "sedges have edges"), while grass stems, called culms, are hollow and often round. Blue wood sedge (C. flaccosperma) looks similar with its bright blue coloring, while C. blanda, or common wood sedge, is also reminiscent but less blue. [Extracted from the article]
