With large volume of passengers boarding and alighting through subway platforms, the stations are getting crowded, resulting in drops in the level of service and safety concerns, especially for subway systems operating at capacity during peak hours. Thus, it is crucial for subway agencies to sense changes in travel demand and adjust their management schemes accordingly. In this paper we propose a statistical approach to estimate dynamic passenger flows with automated data. First, we develop a dynamic logistic model for calculating passenger tap-out times, which can be employed to infer passenger flow characteristics at the aggregate level. In addition, a new passenger-to-train assignment model for any subway route is derived based on the dynamic model. Subsequently, we apply an expectation-maximization algorithm to estimate the model parameters with automated fare collection and automated vehicle location data. Finally, a cross-validation method is employed to validate our approach with data obtained from several routes in Beijing subway system in China. Time lags or leads and non-linearity of complex systems are critical to address in accurate scientific prediction. However, few studies have focused on time-lead and nonlinear models with limited information. Therefore, this paper aims to develop a novel grey multivariate model with time-lead operator τ and nonlinear factor r from the perspective of this problem. Next, the solution of the proposed model is deduced through a derivation method to reduce the morbidity of the model. Then, the parameter identification of the model is given on the basis of the least-squares method. The grey prediction evolution algorithm is employed to find the optimal value of parameters τ and r to meet the minimum errors. Finally, house prices of Wuhan, Beijing and Shanghai in China are performed to verify the validity and reliability of the new model. The results demonstrate the model we proposed has satisfactory prediction precision, demonstrating that time-lead and nonlinear factor in the model is reasonable. At the end of the paper, the house prices of these three cities from 2022 to 2028 are also predicted. The average annual growth rate in the three regions is 2.49%, 3.57% and 2.97%, respectively. A good risk warning model is an effective way to guarantee the stable operation of the carbon market and exert its emission reduction function. This paper takes the China's pilot carbon market as the research object and measures the carbon market risk by ARMA-GARCH-VaR. Then, influential factors are selected as non-market characteristics from the perspective of causality and incorporated into the risk warning model, and SMOTE and SMOTEENN are introduced to deal with the unbalanced samples. Results show that (1) The risk fluctuations of Beijing and Shenzhen carbon market are large, and the risk fluctuations of Guangdong carbon market are relatively smooth in the early period and larger in the recent period. (2) Air quality, average daily temperature, CSI 300, power coal, natural gas, European carbon market, exchange rate, and Baidu index are all important factors in the risk volatility of carbon market. (3) The Classification Decision Tree (CDT) has the best performance. CDT has the best performance in Guangdong carbon market, SMOTE-CDT has the best performance in Hubei carbon market, and SMOTEENN-CDT has the best performance in Shanghai carbon market, in which SMOTEENN-CDT has a 76% Recall. The non-equilibrium treatment improves the overall Recall, and the risk warning model after non-equilibrium treatment can avoid missing important risk points. This paper conducts a comparative study of the tensile performance of plug-pin scaffold joints under different temperatures. The current research objects are mostly for the traditional low carbon steel scaffolding, and lack of research on the tensile performance of scaffolding joints in low temperature conditions. In this paper, based on the temporary seating facilities of the Beijing Winter Olympic Games complex, a new type of sorbite stainless steel was used. The tensile bearing capacity, damage mode and strain distribution patterns of the sorbite stainless steel joints and traditional Q355 joints under different temperature conditions were studied with finite element model and parametric analysis. The results indicated that for traditional Q355 joints, damage primarily occurs in the form of wedge bending deformation, and that decreasing temperature leads to increased tensile bearing and yield capacity. In contrast, for sorbite stainless steel joints, higher tensile bearing capacity was observed at +20 °C, but at −20 °C and − 40 °C conditions, the bend of the C-type card becomes more prone to crack. The accuracy of the ABAQUS finite element model is verified by comparing it with test results. Increasing the thickness of the U-type and C-type cards can slightly increase the tensile bearing capacity of the joint and a minimum wall thickness of 2.7 mm is recommended. Two suggestions are proposed for improving the joint design using sorbite stainless steel. Traditionally, studies on bike-sharing demand (BSD) are mainly focused on its prediction through regression methods, but the influence of MAUP (modifiable areal unit problem) in modeling is ignored. This paper aims to model spatial BSD distribution and prove the driving forces of different land use types to BSD through a machine-learning-based multiple interpolation fusion method. The hotspot detection model is employed to establish sample points covering different land use types in urban areas. In order to capture the differences in adaptations among different urban regions and for different data sizes, six machine learning methods are applied and evaluated to improve BSD estimation by fusing five spatial interpolation algorithms, including Inverse Distance Weight, Spline, Kriging, Natural Neighborhood and Trend. The methodological verification of Beijing City shows that the fusion models improve the estimation performance compared with individual interpolation algorithms, and that GRNN (generalized regression neural network) method is superior to all the others. According to fitting results of all POIs based on the GRNN fusion model, we identify which types of facilities correspond to customers that will have a stronger preference for bike-sharing and demonstrate which facility names are more prominent in each land use type. The conclusions presented here enrich our understanding relationships between land-use and BSD, which provide a valuable foundation for the bike-sharing development. The provision of accurate travel time information holds paramount significance for optimizing traffic operations and management. However, existing approaches typically address multiple travel time learning tasks independently, neglecting the correlation of tasks and necessitating the construction of separate models for each task. As the scale of the road network expands, this practice becomes increasingly infeasible. To bridge this gap, this paper presents an adaptive deep multi-task learning model to solve multiple travel time estimation tasks collaboratively from a citywide perspective. The novel model seamlessly integrates geographical, environmental, and spatial-correlated features, capturing the complex non-linear characteristics of travel time in the urban road network through a deep network learning feature representations layer by layer from the input data. Through the paradigm of deep multi-task collaborative learning, the knowledge learned from one task serves as an inductive bias for other tasks, thereby facilitating the learning of related tasks. By modeling the uncertainty of travel time with a probabilistic model, the weights of jointly learned tasks are adaptively fine-tuned in a principled way. Additionally, a novel algorithm is devised to fully leverage the information embedded within the data with partial information. The proposed methodology is evaluated through a case study on the citywide road network in Beijing, China. Empirical results of extensive experiments demonstrate the adeptness of the proposed model in effectively harnessing information transferred from parallel tasks, adaptively fine-tuning the weights of joint learning tasks, and proficiently exploiting data characterized by incomplete labels, therefore leading to superior performance compared to competing methods. The average estimation error of the four jointly learned travel time estimation tasks is about 28.48%, yielding an improvement of over 4% compared to single-task learning models. The solar furnace is key equipment for the thermochemical reaction research which uses focused solar energy to drive the reactor, and the solar flux distribution on the reactor surface plays a decisive role in the regulation of the thermochemical reaction process and formation of target products. In this paper, a reflective solar furnace with a thermal power of 30 kWth in Yanqing, Beijing, is taken as the research objective. Firstly, the Monte Carlo Ray Tracing (MCRT) method is used to establish the mathematical model for the optical calculation, and the distribution characteristics of solar flux are deeply analyzed. The accuracy of the model is verified through the comparison with the SolTrace software and experimental measurements respectively. Secondly, an improved four-quadrant and adjustable focusing solar furnace experimental equipment is developed, and a new solar flux distribution regulation strategy is proposed by using the inward crossover and outward expansion offset of the four-quadrant focusing points coupled with the heat-absorbing platform movement. The results show that the non-uniform factor and the peak value of the solar flux distribution in the set target area can be optimized by selecting an appropriate inward crossover offset and movement of the heat-absorbing platform, respectively. Moreover, when the DNI varies between 480 W/m2 and 800 W/m2, through the optimized control strategy, a non-uniformity factor with the value of less than 0.10 can be achieved in the target area of a square reactor surface with a side length of 10 cm, and the peak flux can also be controlled in the range from 3000 kW/m2 to 3300 kW/m2 with a fluctuation range of less than 10.0% as set by the thermochemical reaction. Currently, ozone pollution is one of the key environmental concerns, and to provide more effective strategies for ozone control, this paper proposes the use of the Geostationary Environmental Monitoring Spectrometer (GEMS) in conjunction with MAX-DOAS for observations and ozone sensitivity analysis. Compared to traditional polar-orbiting satellites, GEMS, launched by South Korea in 2019, offers superior spatiotemporal resolution. However, there is a lack of ground validation for GEMS data related to ozone and its precursors. In this study, we conducted validation in the Jing-Jin-Ji (Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei) region using two typical MAX-DOAS sites and the China National Environmental Monitoring Center (CNEMC) sites, confirming the accuracy of GEMS data. Analysis of the seasonal horizontal distribution results from GEMS and vertical distribution results from MAX-DOAS in 2022 reveals that the concentrations of NO 2 , HCHO, O 3 , and ozone sensitivity not only display seasonality and regional variations but also exhibit distinct characteristics at different altitudes and times, influenced by local climatic conditions, human activities, and topography. When formulating ozone control policies, it becomes imperative to consider factors such as time, regional characteristics, and seasonality. Comparisons between daily results from TROPOMI and GEMS indicate that polar-orbiting satellites may overlook high-pollution periods within a single day, and their measurements may not provide a comprehensive representation of an entire day's data. Consequently, relying solely on polar-orbiting satellite data for shaping ozone prevention and control policies may inadvertently encourage ozone formation during specific time periods, rendering these policies ineffective. Therefore, leveraging GEMS is essential for the development of comprehensive, around-the-clock ozone control policies. Current studies on compliment responses are largely confined to the dyadic model of communication, without taking into consideration the influence of third parties present. The most commonly used methods of data collection in compliment response research are discourse completion tasks (DCT), role play, etc., the objectivity and accuracy of which remain unconfirmed. With the method of natural conversation recording and targeted elicitation, this article collects 233 cases of female college students' compliment responses in both dyadic and triadic contexts in Beijing and analyzes the data in the model of "acceptance-mitigation-evasion-rejection". The results show that the frequency of accepting compliments among Chinese college students has increased greatly compared to the findings of Chen (1993), indicating noticeable Western influence on Chinese compliment response strategies. However, there is a significant difference between the acceptance ratio in dyadic and triadic contexts. In dyadic communication, the compliment receivers generally prefer the acceptance strategy, while in triadic contexts, they choose evasion and rejection. This finding indicates that the westernization of compliment response strategies in Chinese culture is a gradual and heterogeneous process and the Self-denigration Maxim still plays an important role in the culture at a deeper level. This study also indicates that the use of DCT tends to raise the ratio of acceptance strategy in general in Chinese compliment response research. • First, the result of this paper shows that in triadic contexts Chinese college students accept much less compliments than they do in dyadic contexts, which challenges a dominating view that under the influence of westernization, Chinese have mostly shifted from rejection to acceptance in responding to compliments. • Second, this paper takes into account the presence of a third party, which calls for and inspires reconsideration of other speech acts such as apology, invitation and so on. • Third, the findings of our study suggest that DCT as a method of data collection systematically increases the percentage of Chinese interactants' acceptance of compliments in naturally-occurring conversations. Urban green spaces are increasingly recognized for their positive impact on well-being, quality of life, and public health. Researchers have explored how green space characteristics, such as size, theme, and convenience, influence urban movement. However, an important aspect that has received limited attention is the relative attractiveness of green spaces. When residents have access to similar green spaces nearby, their inclination to visit more distant ones decreases. This leads to the central research question: How does the relative attractiveness of urban green spaces affect urban movements? The existing literature lacks a comprehensive theory to address this question. To bridge this gap, this paper introduces the Potential to Kinetic Energy (PKE) framework, inspired by principles from physics. In this framework, potential energy represents the relative attractiveness of green spaces between the travel origin and destination, while kinetic energy signifies the urban movement resulting from the this attractiveness. To demonstrate the PKE framework's applicability, this paper analyzes green space data and smart card subway ridership records from Beijing. The results show that a unit increase in size, cultural, attraction, proximity, and location potential energy is associated with a 0.22%, 0.27%, 0.14%, 0.19%, and 0.02% increase in urban movement. The findings provide compelling evidence for the significant role of relative attractiveness in shaping urban movements and offer valuable insights for urban planning and policy development. • This study identified four types of urban industrial lands. • A large number of urban industrial land needs to be decentralized. • Some urban industrial land is suitable to be converted into urban green space. Decentralization is essential for the sustainable socio-economic development of megacities. In the context of the decentralization of noncapital functions in Beijing, the renewal of inefficient urban industrial land (UIL) into urban green space (UGS) is an important way to improve the quality of the city. This paper analyzes the urban industrial land use efficiency (UILUE) and its urban green space suitability (UGSS) of 865 study units in Daxing District, Beijing, and combines bivariate spatial autocorrelation with cluster analysis. The results show that (1) the distribution of UIL in Daxing District is "dense in the north and sparse in the south", and UILUE shows a spatial pattern of "high in the west and low in the east", with a high-efficiency area of 985.85 ha, accounting for 12.06 % of the study area, and a low-efficiency area of 507.77 ha, accounting for 6.21 % of the study area. (2) Among the existing UIL, the high suitable area is 1106.46 ha, accounting for 13.57 % of the study area, and the low suitable area is 439 ha, accounting for 5.38 % of the study area. (3) Through bivariate spatial autocorrelation analysis, four types of UIL were identified, among which the low–high cluster area had the greatest potential for land conversion, with 175 study units and an area of 1335.22 ha, accounting for 16.28 % of the study area. Finally, this paper proposes recommendations for the renewal and utilization of UIL in Daxing District to provide guidance and suggestions for the decentralization of other megacities in the world. The district heating system (DHS) is one of the essential carriers for coordinating renewable energy with fossil energy and achieving flexible energy consumption. Considering the uncertainty of both the renewable energy units' power and the consumers' aggregate loads impact the transport process of the DHS, the thermal characteristics of the DHS transportation and the node temperature response under the source-load uncertainty need to be quantified and analyzed. This paper proposed a method to calculate the nodes' temperature dynamic response of the DHS under multiple source-load uncertainty scenarios. The prediction and combination methods of supply and demand probability intervals of source and load nodes under varying credibility levels were investigated. Additionally, the effects of source-load uncertainty boundary conditions on the DHS transport process were analyzed. The temperature response of the nodes was calculated based on the established dynamic DHS model under multiple source-load uncertainty scenarios. A DHS in Beijing was selected for case validation and analysis, and it has 90 nodes and 109 pipes. The simulation results showed that the relative average error of node flow rate in the dynamic DHS model was 3.02%, and the average difference in node temperature was 1 °C. The probability distribution semi-analytical method and the Bayesian credible interval calculation method can accurately describe the uncertainty on both source and load sides. Accurate traffic congestion estimation and prediction are critical building blocks for smart trip planning and rerouting decisions in transportation systems. Over the decades, there have been many studies focusing on traffic congestion estimation and prediction with different statistical approaches (e.g., Markov chain) and machine learning models (e.g., clustering, Bayesian networks, and artificial neural networks). However, there is a lack of a unified framework to address the mechanisms of different models and integrate the advantages of different methods through combinations. This paper introduces the FD-Markov-LSTM model, a hybrid interpretable approach that combines the fundamental diagram (FD), Markov chain, and long short-term memory (LSTM). The aim is to estimate and predict traffic states by integrating statistical data in both congested and uncongested scenarios. The FD-Markov-LSTM model leverages the FD to identify hierarchical traffic states and utilizes the Markov process to capture the probabilistic transitions between these states. We employ the LSTM model to further capture the residual time series produced by the Markov chain model (assuming a memoryless property) to enhance the estimation and prediction performance. The proposed model's accuracy in estimating and predicting traffic flow is evaluated using empirical data from three case studies conducted in Beijing and Los Angeles. The results highlight a significant improvement in accuracy compared to classical benchmark models such as the Markov model, ARIMA model, k-Nearest Neighbor model, Random Forest model, and LSTM. Specifically, the FD-Markov-LSTM model achieves reductions of over 39% in mean absolute error, 35% in root mean squared error, and 7.4% in mean absolute percentage error. Persistent PM 2.5 pollution poses a serious threat to human health. Developing an accurate urban regional PM 2.5 forecasting is of practical significance for environmental protection. However, previous studies have mostly focused on individual monitoring stations, neglecting the influence of neighboring stations, which limits forecasting accuracy. Additionally, the PM 2.5 of a single monitoring station cannot reflect the overall situation of a region. Therefore, this paper develops a novel PM 2.5 spatiotemporal forecasting framework that combines graph convolutional module, temporal convolutional module, linear module. It enables the forecasting of PM 2.5 concentrations at multiple stations and multiple time steps in the future. Concretely, we utilize a mixed graph convolutional network to extract the spatial features of PM 2.5. Then, an improved temporal convolutional network, the second-order residual temporal convolutional network, is developed to capture complex temporal features. Following the classical "linear and non-linear" modeling strategy, a linear module is added to the forecasting framework. Sewer pipes health and failure consequences evaluation are vital to ensure the safety of urban sewer networks. Sewer pipes with low health and severe failure consequences should be the primary focus of daily maintenance and management for drainage authorities. Conversely, sewer pipes with high health and low failure consequences are temporarily not a primary concern, in order to reduce resource wastage within the constraints of limited economic and time resources. Thus, the scientific analysis of their relationships is deemed essential. This paper applies supply-demand balance theory to analyze the relationship. On the supply side, a health Fuzzy Comprehensive Evaluation model (HFCE) is proposed with weighted hierarchies established. On the demand side, a failure consequences FCE model (FFCE) is established. Each sewer pipe's supply-demand balance score is analyzed using matrix multiplication, highlighting two types of imbalanced pipes and sub-districts. Taking the Liangshui River Basin in Beijing as an example, the results show that the health evaluation can identify the spatial distribution of the health of sewer pipes, with low health levels V and IV accounting for 10.23 % and 4.43 %, respectively. The failure consequences evaluation can evaluate the spatial distribution of the severity of sewer pipe failure consequences, with high failure consequences levels V and IV respectively accounting for 10.97 % and 16.77 %. The supply-demand balance analysis identifies the proportion of the first and second types of imbalanced pipes, respectively 14.24 % and 6.80 %. In the early morning on December 17, 2020 Beijing time, China's chang'E-5 probe successfully returned to the Earth with 1731 g of lunar samples after completing drilling, shoveling, packaging of lunar soil and scientific exploration on lunar surface. It is the successful completion of the third phase of China's lunar exploration project, namely "circling, landing and returning to the moon". The scientific objectives of CE-5 mission are to carry out in situ investigation and analysis of the lunar landing region, laboratory research and analysis of lunar return samples. This paper analyzes scientific exploration tasks of CE-5 mission conducted on the lunar surface, and carries out the scientific payload system architecture design and individual scientific payload design with the scientific exploration task requirements as the target, and proposes the working mode and main technical index requirements of the scientific payloads. Based on the preliminary geological background study of the Mons Ruemker region which is the landing region of CE-5, the lunar scientific exploration and the laboratory physicochemical characterization of the return samples are of great scientific significance for our in-depth understanding of the formation and evolution of the Earth-Moon system and the chemical evolution history of the lunar surface. With the rising urge to mitigate the green house effect, reducing the energy consumption of the freight train attracts much attention. Multiple constraints should be taken into account to solve the energy-efficient control problem, which can be reformulated as the multi-objective optimization. This paper proposes a Reinforcement Learning (RL) method for the multi-objective speed trajectory optimization with the goal of the energy-efficiency, punctuality and accurate parking simultaneously. Since the solution space for the optimization problem in this paper is large and discrete, a Gated Recurrent Unit (GRU)-based network is proposed to achieve the fast approximation of the optimal value function instead of the lookup Q-table. Meanwhile, a new architecture, including the embedding matrix, is used to model the control sequence that generates the speed trajectory. Besides, this paper constructs a Deep Q-Network (DQN) framework to train the GRU network without relying on the prior knowledge of the freight train model. Finally, the Intelligent Train Operation (ITO) algorithm is proposed and verified, using the data of Beijing–Guangzhou Railway Line and HXD1B electric locomotive. The case studies indicate that the reward function for the ITO algorithm converges rapidly and the energy consumption monotonically decreases with the trip time, which satisfies the multiple optimization objectives. In terms of saving the energy consumption, the ITO algorithm performs better than Fuzzy Predictive Control (FPC), Genetic Algorithm (GA) and the field test data. The computation time of different speed trajectories demonstrates that the ITO algorithm is applicable to generating the optimal speed trajectory off-line. • A novel multi-objective optimization model based on the reinforcement learning is proposed to search for the optimal control sequence. Evaluating the dispersion of SiC nanoparticles is significant for the development of ZrB 2 –SiC nanocomposite ceramics. This paper reports the 3D distribution characterization of the nanosized SiC additives in ZrB 2 –SiC ceramics with synchrotron X-ray nanoscale computed tomography (nano-CT) and Morisita indexes. Different from the investigation with electron microscopy, the presented work implements nondestructively 3D visualization and quantitative characterization of the SiC nanoparticles distribution in ZrB 2 –SiC ceramics. Firstly, a ZrB 2 –SiC ceramic sample with a size less than 60 μm was prepared. Then, a nano-CT experiment was designed and implemented for this sample at the 4W1A beamline of Beijing Synchrotron Radiation Facility (BSRF). Next, SiC nanoparticles were extracted by applying image segmentation to the generated 3D nano-CT images of this sample and visualized by volume rendering. Finally, Morisita index was extended from 2D to 3D and applied to the corresponding nano-CT images for the quantitative characterization of SiC nanoparticle 3D distribution. The results from the Morisita index are in good agreement with the visual observation. Accurate PM 2.5 forecasting provides a possibility for establishing an early warning system to notify the public and take precautionary measures to prevent negative effects on ambient air quality and public health. Considering strong seasonal variation in meteorological conditions, in this paper, a seasonal stacked autoencoder model combining seasonal analysis and deep feature learning is proposed for forecasting the hourly PM 2.5 concentration, named DL-SSAE model. The original data are firstly decomposed into four seasonal subseries according to the Chinese calendar, and then the Kendall correlation coefficient method is employed to search inherent relationships between PM 2.5 concentrations and meteorological parameters within 1-h ahead for each seasonal time series. The inherent relationships of each seasonal subseries are finally extracted, learned, and modeled by different deep neural networks (stacked autoencoders for regression), and the hourly PM 2.5 forecasts are yielded. The addressed model is tested by the dataset collected from three environmental monitoring stations in Beijing, China. Abstract Electrifying urban transportation through the adoption of Electric Vehicles (EVs) has great potential to mitigate two global challenges, namely climate change and energy scarcity, and also to improve local air quality and further benefit human health. This paper was focused on the six typical factors potentially influencing the purchase behaviour of EVs in Beijing, China, namely vehicle price, vehicle usage, social influence, environmental awareness, purchase-related policies and usage-related policies. Specifically, this study used the data collected in a paper-based questionnaire survey in Beijing from September 2015 to March 2016, covering all of the 16 administrative regions, and tried to quantify the relative importance of the six factors, based on their weights (scores) given by participants. Furthermore, Multinomial Logit (MNL) models and Moran's I (a measure of global spatial autocorrelation) were used to analyse the weights of each factor from statistical and spatial perspectives, respectively. The results suggest that 1) vehicle price and usage tend to be more influential among the six factors, accounting for 32.3% and 28.1% of the importance; 2) Apart from the weight of social influence, the weights of the other five factors are closely associated with socio-demographic characteristics, such as individual income and the level of education; 3) people having similar attitudes towards vehicle usage (Moran's I = 0.10) and purchase restriction (Moran's I = 0.14) tend to live close to each other. Abstract Household carbon emissions are major contributors to global emissions that is increasing recognized. In China, approximately 20 million rural populations transfer to the urban areas annually, which results in a lot of new infrastructure construction and consumer requirements. This paper quantifies the numbers and trends of urban and rural resident on energy use and carbon footprint in Beijing from 1996 to 2011 by analysis of Consumer Lifestyle Approach (CLA) and carbon footprint. It provides a better understanding of complete energy consumption and carbon emissions profile in Beijing. The results show that for the Beijing residents, when direct and indirect energy consumption and CO 2 emissions are taken into account, the total household energy consumption proportion compared to the city increases from 22.7% to 59.2%, and the total household CO 2 emissions proportion increases from 32.2% to 68.8% in the research period. In the urbanization process, total energy consumption and carbon emissions of Beijing urban residents are significantly higher than those of rural residents. However, the transformation of a rural Beijing resident into an urban Beijing resident would not create a large difference between urban and rural areas in the per-capita energy consumption and per-capita carbon footprint. Results are assessed with respect to the available scientific literature, as well as potential available technological and policy solutions. Since the implementation that different policy instruments can mitigate carbon emissions, governments are gradually combining policy measures for the same technology. In addition to its important economic value, carbon trading is also an important tool in international politics and diplomacy. Carbon price forecast accuracy has far-reaching implications for economic development and the environment. Few existing studies have been more accurate in predicting carbon prices over longer periods. In this paper, the incremental Gaussian nonlinear trend fuzzy granulation method and the Gaussian nonlinear trend fuzzy granulation method are innovatively proposed to predict carbon prices. This study first converts carbon prices into incremental granulation time series. A time-varying core line is added to produce nonlinear trend granulation on the foundation of linear trend granulation. The nonlinear trend and residual information are then predicted using the DeeAR network, respectively, and the final prediction result is obtained by adding the predicted values for each. Moreover, a new evaluation index, the comprehensive evaluation of RMSE, MAE, and MAPE as three indicators, is proposed to consider the accuracy of the evaluation index more comprehensively and reliably. The results show that the prediction method has the smallest error in long-term prediction compared with other models. To better make use of the waste heat in distributed data centers, a new design of integrated waste heat recovery system that can meet different needs including heating for users and data center cooling is introduced. The system can switch among different operation modes including waste heat recovery mode, natural cooling mode, composite cooling mode and refrigeration mode based on the ambient temperature. The integrated waste heat recovery system is experimented in the enthalpy-difference laboratory, and the experimental results show well consistency compared with the modeling results. The operation strategies to switch among different modes are determined based on the experimental and modeling results. The paper introduced PUE (Power Usage Effectiveness) and ERE (Energy Reuse effectiveness) to comprehensively evaluate the cooling and energy reutilization effectiveness of the system. According to the evaluation result, the integrated waste heat recovery system has well performed energy effectiveness, environmental and economic effect. The ERE values of using the integrated waste heat recovery system in Chinese typical climate cities including Harbin, Beijing, Xi'an, Shanghai and Guangzhou are 0.87, 1.02, 1.04, 1.17 and 1.29 respectively. Using this system at 96 kW distributed data center instead of CRAC (computer room air conditioning) system can save 152.7 MWh electricity, 56.4 tons of standard coal, and 244.7 tons of CO 2 emission in Beijing annually. The rational evaluation of pollution control measures is crucial for advancing water pollution management, ensuring water quality, and creating high-standard urban environments. Currently the evaluation heavily relies on water quality indicators with little regard to the sense of gain of the people. In this paper, we proposed an objective indicator PVH (Park Visiting Hours) to represent the behavioral response, as a materialized sense of humans, to water quality. We demonstrated the application of PVH in four typical waterscape parks in Beijing with multi-source data, and the results showed that: (1) The Mann-Kendall Test and an independent correlation test utilizing Sina Weibo data (Chinese Twitter) indicated that PVH was significantly negatively correlated with the Satellite image based Sensory Pollution Index (SPI), as corroborated the competence of PVH to appraise the sense of gain from water quality improvement. (2) Multivariate regressions showed that an increase in SPI of 0.1 corresponds to an average 8.8 min reduction in PVH. (3) The relationship between PVH and SPI was consistent across various visitor demographics, and whether visitors were in groups or alone. This study introduced PVH as a novel but concise indicator to represent water quality-related behavior of park visitors and would inspire the use of big multisource data for measuring human perceptions of ecosystem services. Clarifying the specific spatial relationships between the SPA and SBA is of potential scientific and policy importance for such directional flow-conveyed ES. Much of the existing research has focused on the identification of SBA based on a given SPA. However, due to the asymmetry of supply-based and demand-based ESFs and geospatial heterogeneity, this relationship cannot be directly inferred backward to obtain the SPA for a given SBA. In this paper, we propose a methodological framework along with computational methods to delineate the SPA of a given SBA. Our methods feature ESF carrier dynamics-based algorithms to determine the specific path of the ESF which is enabled by an adapted Hybrid Single-Particle Lagrangian Integrated Trajectory (HYSPLIT) model, as well as quantification approaches for evaluating the actual realization of ecosystem services value (RESV) with the support of the Revised Wind Erosion Equation (RWEQ) model. We demonstrate the applicability of our methods with the example of three mega-cities in northern China that are severely affected by the wind erosion problem. The results show that the spatial distribution of wind erosion source areas in the three cities are different, and the SPA based on the trajectory weights shows a decreasing trend from the city center to periphery, with those in the cities of Beijing and Taiyuan mainly concentrated in the northwestern direction, while the high RESV zones in the SPA are mainly concentrated in the desert areas. In the time series, wind erosion affecting these three cities mainly occurred in late April and May. The study provides a methodological and empirical basis for applied ecological analysis including the delineation of the ecological hinterlands of cities, or the formulation of precise ecological compensation programs. Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei metropolitan area is a significant carbon emission center. The region's early achievement of peak carbon targets is critical to the nation's achievement of peak carbon targets. In this paper, it is proposed to use different orders of grey models to classify into three scenarios. Based on three scenarios, the grey multivariate convolutional model with new information priority accumulation is adopted to predict carbon emissions in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and select the scenario suitable for local development. The results show that: (1) The Beijing region has already achieved peak carbon, the Tianjin region may not reach its peak carbon target by 2030, and the Hebei region is expected to reach its peak carbon target by 2030. (2) The high rate of carbon emission reduction scenario will greatly improve the air quality of Beijing. The low-speed growth carbon emission scenario is more in line with the future development of Tianjin city. The low-rate carbon reduction scenario is more in line with the synergistic governance of pollution reduction and carbon reduction in Hebei Province. (3) Beijing's population policy in the most recent years has been conducive to improving the local environment. Tianjin's medium-term population policy is more in line with the local area. The radio determination satellite service (RDSS) is an advantageous and unique aspect of the BeiDou Navigation Satellite System (BDS) because other satellite navigation systems do not incorporate the RDSS. Due to the ageing of RDSS equipment, there is a long-term drift in various types of RDSS equipment time delays. There are some differences in the RDSS positioning accuracy with the change in the out-station beams, which seriously affects the positioning accuracy and service capability of the RDSS system. At present, the time delay calibration method involves sending the device to the equipment verification field to remeasure the time delay, which is cumbersome and time-consuming. The service performance and availability of the RDSS system have become greatly degraded. Therefore, a simple and efficient RDSS time delay calibration method has become an important topic for the global BeiDou system. In this study, the time delays of all channels, in-station beams, and out-station beams were obtained by the O-C method (O is the measured value and C is the theoretical value). The experiments were performed using BeiDou RDSS data in continuous 8-day tests involving five RDSS users. The results showed that the time delay accuracies of the RDSS channels, in-station beams, and out-station beams were 2.37 ns, 1.63 ns, and 2.39 ns, respectively. The positioning tests were performed based on the original and adjusted delays. The mean horizontal positioning accuracy of the five RDSS users improved from 19.71 to 4.14 m, with an average increase of 77%. Energy consumption has promoted a continuous development for economy and society, but it has also brought serious environmental pollution problems which endanger public health. In order to focus on the impact of PM 2.5 emissions from future energy consumption on human health better, this paper estimated PM 2.5 emissions caused by energy consumption in Beijing in 2020,2025 and 2030 by setting the baseline scenario, emission reduction scenario, intensified emission reduction scenario and the data of the base year 2015, which will be 162.6 thousand tons, 195.9 thousand tons and 235.9 thousand tons in the baseline scenario, 143.1 thousand tons, 151.8 thousand tons and 160.9 thousand tons under the emission reduction scenario, and 132.6 thousand tons, 130.2 thousand tons, 127.9 thousand tons under the intensified emission reduction scenario. Finally the paper measured the number of different health effect ends caused by PM 2.5 emissions and the economic loss. The results showed that there was a rapid increase, a mild increase and a moderate decrease in energy consumption and PM 2.5 emissions in Beijing under the three scenarios from 2015 to 2030. Besides, under the same scenario and the same concentration level baseline, the number of the internal medicine (over the age of 15) was the largest, and the economic loss caused by total death rate was the biggest. The transport sector accounts for a large proportion of energy demand and environmental emissions and is growing rapidly. The city is the hub of modern human life and the urban transport sector is developing fast. Specifically, in the Internet era, the development of public transport has brought new challenges and opportunities to urban passenger transport. Thus, research on the energy demand and environmental emissions of the urban transport sector is significant and timely. This paper takes Beijing’s public transport as an example and applies the Long-range Energy Alternatives Planning (LEAP) model to analyze the energy demand and the main greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions under different scenarios during the period 2016–2030. The results show that: 1) if the government fails to guide the development of passenger transport appropriately, its energy demand and GHG emissions will rise rapidly and under the baseline scenario, the energy demand and emissions in 2030 are about 1.8 times those oft 2015; 2) the scenarios of developing public transport and transport sharing have a significant effect of energy saving and emission reduction and in 2030 the energy demand and GHG emissions falls by 25%–30% compared with that of the baseline scenario, so the combination of public transport and transport sharing is a wise choice for the low carbon development of the passenger transport sector in Beijing; 3) scenarios of easing road congestion and new-energy and clean-energy vehicle development have huge potential for energy saving and emission reduction, particularly the internal adjustment of the energy structure in the scenario of developing new-energy and clean-energy vehicles, which can greatly reduce the demand for traditional energy sources and reduce GHG emissions. With the increasing urbanization but growing resource scarcities, the securing provision of fundamental resources as food, energy and water (FEW) has become a unique challenge for urban sustainability. This is not only because of continuous demand of resource imports from different regions for urban areas, but also due to the complex interrelationships among FEW systems. In such context, exploring the interactions between FEW resources and economic activities when investigating FEW provisions to meet urban demand through trade is very essential to find effective policy intervention points and priority areas for actions. This paper investigates external binding FEW resource flows with internal certain interlinkages driven by final demand of Beijing city at different nodes along their supply chains, by combing structural path analysis and multi-regional input-output model of China 2010. The results show that the key source regions present overall neighborhood pattern that Hebei, Inner Mongolia, Anhui, Jiangsu, and Shandong near Beijing are the five leading contributors of tran-regional FEW provisions. The top 20 nexus paths are identified and the most important nexus pathways start with the other services in Beijing. Besides this, the critical supply chains appear divergent directions for FEW flows, driven by food, construction and agriculture industries respectively. Moreover, the key nodes mainly concentrate on less developed regions and energy-related sectors. For example, non-metal products manufacturing in Hebei, petroleum refining and coking in Heilongjiang, and coal mining and washing in Inner Mongolia have larger impacts on all of FEW flows across the supply chains. Within the context of climate change and population growth, the development of urban agriculture is of great environmental and economic significance in rapidly urbanizing China. Based on the primary survey data, this paper evaluated the carbon footprint (CF) and economic efficiency of urban agriculture in Beijing (China) using the life cycle assessment method (from cradle to consumption approach). Two cases were analyzed and compared considering their differences in on-farm cultivation and off-farm supply chains: a conventional small householder farm that sells its vegetables directly to consumers in a local market, and a large home-delivery agriculture (HDA) initiative that delivers its vegetables to the consumers' home directly. Both cases were equipped with greenhouses with plastic covering but no heating system. The CF of the production, transportation and distribution of 1 kg fresh vegetables was estimated at 0.318 kg CO 2 -eq kg−1 and 0.624–0.652 kg CO 2 -eq kg−1 for conventional and HDA initiative farm, respectively. However, the HDA initiative showed a better environmental performance than the conventional operation when taking economic efficiency into consideration. The CF per unit of profit of HDA initiative (0.093–0.097 kg CO 2 -eq per CNY) was lower than conventional farm (0.111 kg CO 2 -eq per CNY). The lower CF per unit of product weight of the conventional farm was largely attributed to the high yield and the lower CF per unit of profit of the HDA initiative was mainly due to the outstanding economic profitability through income optimization. The major hotspots of CF in both cases were greenhouse plastic films in the cultivation phase (from cradle to farm gate) and transportation in the supply chain (from farm gate to consumption). Simulation of a switch to biodiesel instead of gasoline and diesel in combination with the replacement of current fossil-fuel-dominated electricity by hydro-powered electricity resulted in 20.0–21.8% reduction in the total CF. By identifying the CF hotspots of two farm cases, particular inputs and activities can be targeted for adjustment in order to effectively reduce the CF of urban agriculture in Beijing. From 1990 to 2017, the number of vehicles in China increased sharply from 5 million to 310 million, and vehicle emissions became one of the major sources of air pollution. Among the main sources of PM 2.5 in Beijing, the contributions from vehicle sources increased from 5.6% (2000) to 31.1% (2012) to 45% (2017). In 2010, the CO, hydrocarbon (HC), NO x , and particulate matter (PM) emissions of yellow-label vehicles (YLVs) accounted for 46.1%, 47.9%, 63.1% and 86.1% of the total emissions from on-road vehicles. In recent years, China has been implementing a YLV scrappage subsidy policy to control air pollution, and this policy has cost several hundred billion yuan nationwide. However, China has not evaluated the costs and benefits of the policy. Many people question whether the YLV scrappage subsidy policy is worthwhile, but all the stakeholders involved complicate the process of accurately evaluating the true value of the policy. In this study, we evaluated and compared the costs and benefits of the policy in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei (BTH) region based on 1.362 million YLVs from 2008 to 2015. Because of the implementation of the policy, the PM 2.5 , PM 10 , NO x , CO and HC emissions in the BTH region decreased by 16.46, 18.12, 174.44, 669.11, and 91.64 kt, respectively, in 2008–2015. The results show that the policy played an important role in reducing pollutant emissions and improving environmental quality in the BTH region. The costs, benefits, and net benefits of the policy were 13.69, 34.03, and 20.34 billion yuan , respectively. The cost-benefit ratio in the BTH region was 1:2.49; at the city scale, Beijing ranked first (1:7.27), and the cost-benefit ratios of Tianjin and Hebei Province were 1:2.06 and 1:1.14, respectively. Of the 13 cities in the BTH region, Beijing had the highest net benefits, amounting to 16.43 billion yuan , while Handan City has the lowest net benefits, amounting to −0.58 billion yuan. Even though renewable energy development has gained momentum in China, thermal power generation still accounts for approximately 70% of the county's total power generation serving as the major source of carbon dioxide (CO 2) emissions in China. Facing the challenges of meeting 2030 peak target of CO 2 emission and realizing the coordinated development of thermal power generation in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, this paper applies generalized Divisia Index Method (GDIM) to decompose the dynamics in the relevant CO 2 emission. The effects of five factors including electricity demand, energy consumption, technology, energy efficiency and energy-mix are considered. The decomposition suggests that electricity demand is the primary factor driving the CO 2 emission up, whereas technology effect decreases CO 2 emission the most. Given the significant roles of technology, energy-mix and energy efficiency in CO 2 emissions reduction, seven scenarios are designed to identify the optimal coordinated development pathway for thermal power generation in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. Through upgrading energy structure and/or enhancing energy efficiency, the thermal power generation in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region can achieve coordinated development and realize the 2030 peak target under four scenarios. The urban heat island effect in Beijing is significant, which has become a serious environmental problem posed to Beijing citizens. As an important measure to alleviate the urban heat island effect, cool roof is recommended in relevant Evaluation Standard for Green Building of China. In order to elicit policy implications, this paper investigates Beijing residents' willingness to pay for promoting cold roofs to alleviate the urban heat island effect and its determinants. This research applied double-bounded discrete choice format and face to face interview to elicit public's willingness to pay. 841 Beijing households were randomly selected and interviewed. For 242 (29%) respondents refuse to pay, the spike model was introduced to process the data for it has been proved to outperform the conventional model in dealing with zero responses. The average annual willingness to pay was computed as 1510.854 Chinese Yuan, which is 220.562 US dollars per household. In addition, In terms of the determinants of residents' willingness to pay, other than conventional demographic characteristics, we added and estimated covariance with regard to environmental knowledge and the theory of planned behavior. The result indicated that social norm, perceived behavior control, and previous knowledge of urban heat island effect and cool roof are statistical significantly related with residents' willingness to pay. • A agent-based simulation optimization model is proposed to optimize the release of passenger guidance information in a rail network. • A hybrid heuristic solution algorithm, integrated with passenger simulator and genetic algorithm, is developed. • A case study of Beijing subway is carried out with the large-scale smart card data. The passenger flow guidance is an effective demand management strategy to alleviate the excessive congestion in the urban rail transit network. In order to determine the scope and the timing, a simulation-based optimization model is proposed to optimize the release of passenger flow guidance information in the rail transit network in this paper. In the optimization model, we mainly focus on three aspects namely; where, when and what type of the guidance information should be released to the passengers. In the simulation model, the passenger choice behavior is captured by the agent-based simulation method, which responses to the congestion and the guidance information. Based on this, the dynamic passenger flow distribution can be derived. Furthermore, the adoption rate of the displayed guidance information on passenger information system as well as its impact on passenger travel behavior are also considered in the model. A hybrid heuristic solution algorithm, integrated with passenger simulator and genetic algorithm, is developed to solve the proposed simulation-based optimization model. Finally, a case study of Beijing subway is carried out with the large-scale smart card data. The numerical study shows that the passenger flow demand affects the guidance effect significantly and the best guidance effect can be met with sufficiently high passenger flow demand. And the guidance rate is also found to affect the guidance results. The results also show that the proposed model can provide a detailed guidance scheme for every station at selected time intervals. Integrated energy system (IES) is characterized by high self-consumption ratio of on-site generated renewable energy, high efficiency of conventional energy utilization and possesses a significant flexibility in its operation. This overall, constitute to the foundation of low-carbon communities. Considering economic and environmental benefits, this paper proposes a two-layer co-optimization model with the upper layer optimizing the IES configuration and the lower layer optimizing IES operation. A community in Beijing is introduced as a case study to analyze the benefits of IES and compared with the conventional energy system. Multiple scenarios are researched, including (a) IES for low-carbon communities with PV roof area limitation, (b) IES for each of the four building types with PV roof area limitation, (c) IES for low-carbon communities without PV roof area limitation. The results indicate that the optimized IES for community can reduce the cost by 25% and CO 2 emissions by 32% per year by considering the limitation of roof area for the PV system. Without this constraint, the costs and emissions could be reduced by 20% and 62%, respectively. In addition, IES is more appropriate for office and commercial buildings since their load characteristics allow for load shifting and community-level IES costs and emissions are 8% and 10% lower than building-level due to the complementary of community load. The waterlogging disaster has become a major threat to the resilient development of cities, which needs a unified and systematic accounting framework to estimate potential waterlogging effects in terms of forming disaster prevention strategies. In this paper, we developed an emergy-based waterlogging footprint accounting framework applying depth-damage functions, input–output (IO) analysis and ecological footprint, considering both economic and environmental factors. Taking the old town Beijing as a case study, we simulated the urban waterlogging distribution with a hydrodynamic model (InfoWorks ICM) over different return periods (1, 2, 3, 5, 10, 20, and 50 years) at high resolution. This study first considered the economic impact caused by urban waterlogging to evaluate the direct economic loss and indirect economic loss by using the depth-damage function and IO model, respectively. The environmental loss was assessed with an ecological footprint and was unified by emergy with economic loss. Then, four emergy-based indicators were established to quantify the specific impacts of waterlogging on urban resilience. The results show that the waterlogging footprints grew constantly by 284.57% from 1 year to 50 years. The waterlogging footprints driven by environmental loss, which were overlooked, accounted for 13.02% of the total. The waterlogging footprint density and waterlogging resilience index showed high spatial heterogeneity, indicating that the sensitivity of subdistricts to waterlogging varies greatly. In China, overlapped routes from multiple bus lines are widespread. Some buses are overcrowded while others have few passengers. The goal of this study is to reduce onboard passenger crowding without wasting bus capacity. This paper examines an extended multiple-depot vehicle scheduling problem (VSP) with multiple vehicle types. First, a bi-objective integer programming model was created. The trade-off between operating cost and passenger travel cost was established and the crowding cost due to different vehicle sizes was especially considered. Then, the capacity restraint incremental assignment algorithm and a vehicle scheduling method with multiple vehicle types were developed to find Pareto-optimal solutions that considered vehicle capacity constraints. Finally, the proposed methodology was validated using a real-world transit network in Beijing, China. The optimization results from about 1.18 million bus card swiping records show that our model and solution algorithm can effectively reduce the passenger crowding cost and avoid the waste of transport capacity. In order to evaluate suitability of battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles (HFCVs) in freight transport systems, this paper proposes a data-driven and simulation-based multi-objective optimization method to deploy charging/refueling facilities for BEVs/HFCVs. The model considers three objectives, namely minimizing total system cost, maximizing service reliability, and minimizing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. In particular, a data-driven micro-simulation approach is developed to simulate the operation of freight transport systems with different vehicle and facility types based on the analysis of a one-week Global Positioning System (GPS) trajectory dataset containing 63,000 freight vehicles in Beijing. With the model, we compare the suitability of BEVs and HFCVs within three typical scenarios, i.e., BEVs coupled with Charging Stations (BEV-CS), BEVs coupled with Battery Swap Stations (BEV-BSS), and HFCVs coupled with Hydrogen Refueling Stations (HFCV-HRS). The results suggest that BEV-CS has the lowest total system cost: its system cost is 62.5% and 90.3% of the costs in BEV-BSS and HFCV-HRS, respectively. BEV-BSS has the lowest delay time: its delay time is 62.1% and 86.0% of the delay times in BEV-CS and HFCV-HRS, respectively. HFCV-HRS has the lowest GHG emissions: its emissions are 37.3% and 46.9% of the emissions in BEV-CS and BEV-BSS, respectively. Scientific evaluation of water usage efficiency and clarification of the three-dimensional water ecological footprint (EF 3D) drivers are of great significance for the collaborative environmental management of BTH region. This paper firstly explores the evolution of water footprint breadth (EF size), depth (EF depth) and EF 3D in BTH region from 2004 to 2020. Using the super-efficient SBM (Slacks-Based Measure) model with EF 3D to evaluate the water use efficiency of BTH region in two scenarios. 22 impact factors were selected to analyze the dynamics affecting the change of EF 3D in BTH region by using the LMDI (Logistic Mean Divided Index) model. The results show that: (1) The water resources pressure of the three provinces are in the overload state from 2004 to 2020, and the EF 3D is at its maximum in 2011–2015. The EF depth of BTH region is fluctuating up and then fluctuating down around 2012, and the most serious capital consumption of water resources stock is in Tianjin. (2) The water resources in Hebei are all in inefficient use. The water resources in Tianjin are in a state of inefficient use in some study years, and since 2014, the water resources are in a state of fluctuating increase and high efficiency. As for Beijing, the water resources are in a state of efficient use in the study years. On the whole, scenario 2 better reflects the water resources utilization efficiency situation and is more in line with the real situation. (3) The water structure and endowment of water resources are pivotal factors positively influencing the EF 3D. To mitigate EF 3D and achieve sustainable utilization of water resources, both Hebei and Tianjin have ample room for progress in elevating agricultural water-saving technologies, optimizing industrial structure, and enhancing water usage patterns. Sector aggregation under the input-output framework may lead to deviation in results and the lack of detailed sectoral information, which hinder the targeted implementation of accurate sectoral adjustment policies. This paper explores the effects of sector aggregation on the embodied carbon emission of the residential consumptions of Beijing and Shanghai based on the city-centric global multi-region input-output (CCG-MRIO) model. Integrating with structural path analysis and structural decomposition analysis, the impacts of sector aggregation on the identifying of critical emission transmission paths and driving forces are also revealed. Three sector aggregation datasets are discussed to track the sector aggregation effect in 2012 and 2017. The findings show that the carbon emission results at 8 sector level better align with the results at the 22 sector level than those at 32 sector level. Moreover, sector aggregation will lead to the absence of some critical carbon transmission paths, some factor contributions on carbon emission also changed their directions at different sector levels. On the basis of clarifying the sector aggregation effect on embodied carbon emission, the research results provide a reference for similar studies to select the appropriate level of sector aggregation, to realize the goal of simplifying the calculation or gaining more detailed sectoral emission information. Promoting the coupled development of water, energy, and food (WEF) subsystems is a critical step to enhance synergies and increase efficiencies in the WEF nexus. However, the evolution and obstacles of coupled development are largely ignored. This study developed a framework dividing links in the nexus to select indicators and integrated models for the degree of coordination and obstacle diagnosis to explore the coupled development of the WEF nexus from 2000 to 2020 in the water-scarce megacities of Beijing and Tianjin. The results show that the average coordination degree of the WEF nexus in Beijing (0.315) and Tianjin (0.317) is at a low level, indicating a limited interaction between the WEF subsystems, while the coordinated development degree of the WEF nexus is increasing. The order degree of the WEF subsystems shows a two-level hierarchical structure, indicating that both similarities and differences are included in place-specific characteristics. Furthermore, obstacle factors are identified from water and energy subsystems, in which environmental water use (W3) and the energy consumption per gross domestic production unit (E4) played the most significant roles and require a higher priority in policy response. Identifying the structures of buildings in urban areas is a prerequisite for robust urban planning and regeneration. Owing to the diverse structural designs of urban buildings, automated approaches are required to classify building structures. Supervised machine learning is usually employed to classify various building characteristics. However, this approach requires significant labeling effort. Therefore, this paper proposes a new pre-clustering active learning method for building structure classification. The proposed method captures the statistical characteristics of samples and enhances the recognition of the most valuable training samples, thereby substantially reducing the labeling workload and improving the efficiency and effectiveness of classification. This method was tested via the classification of 3718 buildings in Beijing, China, into five common structures. The results showed that the proposed method could reduce labeling effort by 60% while achieving a promising 90% F1 score for overall classification performance, thus indicating its effectiveness. In this paper, the two major behaviors of wear and vibration that induce slurry discharge pipelines failure are systematically investigated based on a water delivery tunnel located in Beijing. The wear morphology of typical pipes is studied combining the measured wear data and CFD-DEM coupling simulation. The time–frequency characteristics of slurry discharge pipe in different strata are measured and analyzed. Furthermore, the variation of time–frequency characteristics with the decrease of pipe wall thickness is investigated, a multi-parameters early warning methods based on vibration characteristics is proposed for detecting pipe wear. The results show that The CFD-DEM coupling method and Archard wear model can accurately determine the location of the maximum wear point of various pipes conducive to local thickening of pipes. The elbow pipe joints are prone to fatigue damage and have a high risk of slurry leakage during transport of large-sized particles. When the pipeline is severely worn, the interaction between the rock particles and the worn wall causes local elastic deformation, resulting in a high frequency response of 50–150 Hz and a rapid increase in the kurtosis K. As an environmentally friendly and convenient transport mode, bike-sharing has been fast developed in major cities around the world. More bike-sharing firms have been formed and intensified market competition. The government has stipulated regulations to intervene in bike-sharing firm operations and to maintain orderly competition. This paper establishes an integrated economic model to examine duopoly bike-sharing firm competition in both prices and the number of deployed bikes. Specifically, more deployed bikes in the urban area reduce the time cost for the users to find an available bike (i.e., the search cost), but they can also impose a negative social externality on the urban management. Two government policies to control the number of deployed bikes have been examined and benchmarked. One is the limit on the total number of the deployed bikes (i.e., the supply-side regulation), and the other is the restriction to allow the users to only register or use certain firms' services (i.e., the demand-side regulation of single-homing). Our model is also further calibrated by using the bike-sharing market data of Beijing for policy implications. It is found that, when the negative social externality of bike deployment is sufficiently small, the government should allow users' multi-homing (i.e., registration on both firms' platforms). However, when the negative social externality is high, the government should strictly control the number of bikes through both the supply-side and demand-side restrictions. Our analyses also suggest that it is never socially optimal to only adopt the demand-side restriction (i.e., forcing the single-homing). That is, the supply-side policy is more socially preferred to correct the negative social externality in most cases. The PM 2.5 problem is proving to be a major public crisis and is of great public-concern requiring an urgent response. Information about, and prediction of PM 2.5 from the perspective of atmospheric dynamic theory is still limited due to the complexity of the formation and development of PM 2.5 . In this paper, we attempted to realize the relevance analysis and short-term prediction of PM 2.5 concentrations in Beijing, China, using multi-source data mining. A correlation analysis model of PM 2.5 to physical data (meteorological data, including regional average rainfall, daily mean temperature, average relative humidity, average wind speed, maximum wind speed, and other pollutant concentration data, including CO, NO 2 , SO 2 , PM 10 ) and social media data (microblog data) was proposed, based on the Multivariate Statistical Analysis method. The study found that during these factors, the value of average wind speed, the concentrations of CO, NO 2 , PM 10 , and the daily number of microblog entries with key words ‘Beijing; Air pollution’ show high mathematical correlation with PM 2.5 concentrations. The correlation analysis was further studied based on a big data's machine learning model- Back Propagation Neural Network (hereinafter referred to as BPNN) model. It was found that the BPNN method performs better in correlation mining. Finally, an Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average (hereinafter referred to as ARIMA) Time Series model was applied in this paper to explore the prediction of PM 2.5 in the short-term time series.
