The integration of photonics and artificial intelligence (AI) has led to the emergence of intelligent photonics, which offers significant advancements in medical imaging. In this paper, a Photonic Crystal Fiber (PCF)-based sensor is presented for tumor detection. The finite element method is used to simulate the proposed sensor. By varying the geometrical parameters of the proposed sensor, an optimized sensor is proposed. Meanwhile, the latest AI techniques used in medical imaging, such as deep learning (DL) and convolutional neural networks (CNN), are also analyzed to improve upon the ability of the sensor. This paper highlights the potential of intelligent photonics in improving efficiency, sensitivity, specificity and accuracy of medical imaging, particularly in the areas of tumor detection and treatment. The results show that DL has an efficiency of 95%, and CNN has shown an accuracy of 98%. Additionally, this paper discusses the challenges and limitations that need to be addressed in order to fully realize the potential of these technologies. Photovoltaic (PV) fault detection is crucial because undetected PV faults can lead to significant energy losses, with some cases experiencing losses of up to 10%. The efficiency of PV systems depends upon the reliable detection and diagnosis of faults. The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques has been a growing trend in addressing these issues. The goal of this systematic review is to offer a comprehensive overview of the recent advancements in AI-based methodologies for PV fault detection, consolidating the key findings from 31 research papers. An initial pool of 142 papers were identified, from which 31 were selected for in-depth review following the PRISMA guidelines. The title, objective, methods, and findings of each paper were analyzed, with a focus on machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) approaches. ML and DL are particularly suitable for PV fault detection because of their capacity to process and analyze large amounts of data to identify complex patterns and anomalies. This study identified several AI techniques used for fault detection in PV systems, ranging from classical ML methods like k-nearest neighbor (KNN) and random forest to more advanced deep learning models such as Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs). Quantum circuits and infrared imagery were also explored as potential solutions. The analysis found that DL models, in general, outperformed traditional ML models in accuracy and efficiency. This study shows that AI methodologies have evolved and been increasingly applied in PV fault detection. The integration of AI in PV fault detection offers high accuracy and effectiveness. In recent years, with the development of geological prospecting from shallow ore to deep and hidden ore, the difficulty of prospecting is increasing day by day, so the application of computer technology and new methods of geological and mineral exploration is paid more and more attention. The mining and prediction of geological prospecting information based on deep learning have become the frontier field of earth science. However, as a deep artificial intelligence algorithm, deep learning still has many problems to be solved in the big data mining and prediction of geological prospecting, such as the small number of training samples of geological and mineral images, the difficulty of building deep learning network models, and the universal applicability of deep learning models. In this paper, the training samples and convolutional neural network models suitable for geochemical element data mining are constructed to solve the above problems, and the model is successfully applied to the prediction research of gold, silver, lead and zinc polymetallic metallogenic areas in South China. Taking the Pangxidong research area in the west of Guangdong Province as an example, this paper carries out prospecting target prediction research based on a 1:50000 stream sediment survey original data. Firstly, the support vector machine (SVM) model and statistical method were used to determine the ore-related geochemical element assemblage. Secondly, the experimental data of geochemical elements were augmented and a dataset was established. Finally, ResNet-50 neural network model is used for data training and prediction research. The experimental results show that the areas numbered 9, 29, 38, 40, 95, 111, 114, 124, 144 have great metallogenic potential, and this method would be a promising tool for metallogenic prediction. By applying the ResNet-50 neural network in metallogenic prediction, it can provide a new idea for the future exploration of mineral resources. In order to verify the generality of the research method in this paper, we conducted experimental tests on the geochemical dataset of B area, another deposit research area in South China. The results show that 100% of the prediction area obtained by using the proposed method covers the known ore deposit area. Over the last decades, the field of medicine has witnessed significant progress in artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT), and deep learning (DL) systems. Otorhinolaryngology, and imaging in its various subspecialties, has not remained untouched by this transformative trend. As the medical landscape evolves, the integration of these technologies becomes imperative in augmenting patient care, fostering innovation, and actively participating in the ever-evolving synergy between computer vision techniques in otorhinolaryngology and AI. To that end, we conducted a thorough search on MEDLINE for papers published until June 2023, utilizing the keywords 'otorhinolaryngology', 'imaging', 'computer vision', 'artificial intelligence', and 'deep learning', and at the same time conducted manual searching in the references section of the articles included in our manuscript. Our search culminated in the retrieval of 121 related articles, which were subsequently subdivided into the following categories: imaging in head and neck, otology, and rhinology. Our objective is to provide a comprehensive introduction to this burgeoning field, tailored for both experienced specialists and aspiring residents in the domain of deep learning algorithms in imaging techniques in otorhinolaryngology. With the development of artificial intelligence, techniques such as machine learning, object detection, and trajectory tracking have been applied to various traffic fields to detect accidents and analyze their causes. However, detecting traffic accidents using closed-circuit television (CCTV) as an emerging subject in machine learning remains challenging because of complex traffic environments and limited vision. Traditional research has limitations in deducing the trajectories of accident-related objects and extracting the spatiotemporal relationships among objects. This paper proposes a traffic accident detection method that helps to determine whether each frame shows accidents by generating and considering object trajectories using influence maps and a convolutional neural network (CNN). The influence maps with spatiotemporal relationships were enhanced to improve the detection of traffic accidents. A CNN is utilized to extract latent representations from the influence maps produced by object trajectories. Car Accident Detection and Prediction (CADP) was utilized in the experiments to train our model, which achieved a traffic accident detection accuracy of approximately 95%. Traffic closed-circuit television (CCTV) devices can be used to detect and track objects on roads by designing and applying artificial intelligence and deep learning models. However, extracting useful information from the detected objects and determining the occurrence of traffic accidents are usually difficult. This paper proposes a CCTV frame-based hybrid traffic accident classification model that enables the identification of whether a frame includes accidents by generating object trajectories. The proposed model utilizes a Vision Transformer (ViT) and a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) to extract latent representations from each frame and corresponding trajectories. The fusion of frame and trajectory features was performed to improve the traffic accident classification ability of the proposed hybrid method. In the experiments, the Car Accident Detection and Prediction (CADP) dataset was used to train the hybrid model, and the accuracy of the model was approximately 97%. Catastrophic forgetting, which means a rapid forgetting of learned representations while learning new data/samples, is one of the main problems of deep neural networks. In this paper, we propose a novel incremental learning framework that can address the forgetting problem by learning new incoming data in an online manner. We develop a new incremental learning framework that can learn extra data or new classes with less catastrophic forgetting. We adopt the hippocampal memory process to the deep neural networks by defining the effective maximum of neural activation and its boundary to represent a feature distribution. In addition, we incorporate incremental QR factorization into the deep neural networks to learn new data with both existing labels and new labels with less forgetting. The QR factorization can provide the accurate subspace prior, and incremental QR factorization can reasonably express the collaboration between new data with both existing classes and new class with less forgetting. In our framework, a set of appropriate features (i.e., nodes) provides improved representation for each class. We apply our method to the convolutional neural network (CNN) for learning Cifar-100 and Cifar-10 datasets. The experimental results show that the proposed method efficiently alleviates the stability and plasticity dilemma in the deep neural networks by providing the performance stability of a trained network while effectively learning unseen data and additional new classes. Deep learning techniques have revolutionized the field of artificial intelligence by enabling accurate predictions of complex natural scenarios. This paper proposes a novel convolutional neural network (CNN) model that involves deep learning technologies, such as the bottleneck residual block, layer normalization, and dropout layer, to predict wave overtopping at coastal structures under a wide range of conditions. To optimize the performance of the CNN model, the hyperparameter tuning process via Bayesian optimization is used. The results of validation demonstrate that the proposed CNN model is highly accurate in estimating wave overtopping discharge from hydraulic and structural parameters. The testing accuracy of the overtopping predictions using a prototype dataset shows that the proposed CNN model outperforms those existing machine learning models. In recent years, advances in deep learning (DL) techniques for video analysis have developed to solve the problem of real-time processing. Automated face recognition in the runtime environment has become necessary in video surveillance systems for urban security. This is a difficult task due to face occlusion, which makes it hard to capture effective features. Existing work focuses on improving performance while ignoring issues like a small dataset, high computational complexity, and a lack of lightweight and efficient feature descriptors. In this paper, face recognition (FR) using a Convolutional mixer (AFR-Conv) algorithm is developed to handle face occlusion problems. A novel AFR-Conv architecture is designed by assigning priority-based weight to the different face patches along with residual connections and an AdaBoost classifier for automatically recognizing human faces. The AFR-Conv also leverages the strengths of pre-trained CNNs by extracting features using ResNet-50, Inception-v3, and DenseNet-161. The AdaBoost classifier combines these features' weighted votes to predict labels for testing images. To develop this system, we use the data augmentation method to enhance the number of datasets using human face images. The AFR-Conv method is then used to extract robust features from images. Finally, to recognize human identity, an AdaBoost classifier is utilized. For the training and evaluation of the AFR-Conv model, a set of face images is collected from online data sources. The experimental results of the AFR-Conv approach are presented in terms of precision (PR), recall (RE), detection accuracy (DA), and F1-score metrics. Particularly, the proposed approach attains 95.5% PR, 97.6% RE, 97.5% DA, and 98.5% of F1-score on 8500 face images. Due to the recent increasing utilization of deep learning models on edge devices, the industry demand for Deep Learning Model Optimization (DLMO) is also increasing. This paper derives a usage strategy of DLMO based on the performance evaluation through light convolution, quantization, pruning techniques and knowledge distillation, known to be excellent in reducing memory size and operation delay with a minimal accuracy drop. Through experiments regarding image classification, we derive possible and optimal strategies to apply deep learning into Internet of Things (IoT) or tiny embedded devices. In particular, strategies for DLMO technology most suitable for each on-device Artificial Intelligence (AI) service are proposed in terms of performance factors. Despite advancements in smart grid (SG) technology, effective load forecasting utilizing big data or large-scale datasets remains a complex task for energy management, planning, and control. The Saudi SGs, in alignment with the Saudi Vision 2030, have been envisioned as future electrical grids with a bidirectional flow of power and data. To that end, data analysis and predictive models can enhance Saudi SG planning and control via artificial intelligence (AI). Recently, many AI methods including deep learning (DL) algorithms for SG applications have been published in the literature and have shown superior time series predictions compared with conventional prediction models. Current load-prediction research for the Saudi grid focuses on identifying anticipated loads and consumptions, on utilizing limited historical data and the behavior of the load's consumption, and on conducting shallow forecasting models. However, little scientific proof on complex DL models or real-life application has been conducted by researchers; few articles have studied sophisticated large-scale prediction models for Saudi grids. This paper proposes hybrid DL methods to enhance the outcomes in Saudi SG load forecasting, to improve problem-relevant features, and to accurately predict complicated power consumption, with the goal of developing reliable forecasting models and of obtaining knowledge of the relationships between the various features and attributes in the Saudi SGs. The model in this paper utilizes a real dataset from the Jeddah and Medinah grids in Saudi Arabia for a full year, 2021, with a one-hour time resolution. A benchmark strategy using different conventional DL methods including artificial neural network, recurrent neural network (RNN), conventional neural networks (CNN), long short-term memory (LSTM), gated recurrent unit (GRU), and different real datasets is used to verify the proposed models. The prediction results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed hybrid DL models, with CNN–GRU and CNN–RNN with NRMSE obtaining 1.4673% and 1.222% improvements, respectively, in load forecasting accuracy. Success in student learning is the primary aim of the educational system. Artificial intelligence utilizes data and machine learning to achieve excellence in student learning. In this paper, we exploit several machine learning techniques to estimate early student performance. Two main simulations are used for the evaluation. The first simulation used the Traditional Machine Learning Classifiers (TMLCs) applied to the House dataset, and they are Gaussian Naïve Bayes (GNB), Support Vector Machine (SVM), Decision Tree (DT), Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP), Random Forest (RF), Linear Discriminant Analysis (LDA), and Quadratic Discriminant Analysis (QDA). The best results were achieved with the MLP classifier with a division of 80% training and 20% testing, with an accuracy of 88.89%. The fusion of these seven classifiers was also applied and the highest result was equal to the MLP. Moreover, in the second simulation, the Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) was utilized and evaluated on five main datasets, namely, House, Western Ontario University (WOU), Experience Application Programming Interface (XAPI), University of California-Irvine (UCI), and Analytics Vidhya (AV). The UCI dataset was subdivided into three datasets, namely, UCI-Math, UCI-Por, and UCI-Fused. Moreover, the AV dataset has three targets which are Math, Reading, and Writing. The best accuracy results were achieved at 97.5%, 99.55%, 98.57%, 99.28%, 99.40%, 99.67%, 92.93%, 96.99%, and 96.84% for the House, WOU, XAPI, UCI-Math, UCI-Por, UCI-Fused, AV-Math, AV-Reading, and AV-Writing datasets, respectively, under the same protocol of evaluation. Waste segregation, management, transportation, and disposal must be carefully managed to reduce the danger to patients, the public, and risks to the environment's health and safety. The previous method of monitoring trash in strategically placed garbage bins is a time-consuming and inefficient method that wastes time, human effort, and money, and is also incompatible with smart city needs. So, the goal is to reduce individual decision-making and increase the productivity of the waste categorization process. Using a convolutional neural network (CNN), the study sought to create an image classifier that recognizes items and classifies trash material. This paper provides an overview of trash monitoring methods, garbage disposal strategies, and the technology used in establishing a waste management system. Finally, an efficient system and waste disposal approach is provided that may be employed in the future to improve performance and cost effectiveness. Using gestures can help people with certain disabilities in communicating with other people. This paper proposes a lightweight model based on YOLO (You Only Look Once) v3 and DarkNet-53 convolutional neural networks for gesture recognition without additional preprocessing, image filtering, and enhancement of images. The proposed model achieved high accuracy even in a complex environment, and it successfully detected gestures even in low-resolution picture mode. The proposed model was evaluated on a labeled dataset of hand gestures in both Pascal VOC and YOLO format. We achieved better results by extracting features from the hand and recognized hand gestures of our proposed YOLOv3 based model with accuracy, precision, recall, and an F-1 score of 97.68, 94.88, 98.66, and 96.70%, respectively. Further, we compared our model with Single Shot Detector (SSD) and Visual Geometry Group (VGG16), which achieved an accuracy between 82 and 85%. In the field of structural health monitoring (SHM), with the mature development of artificial intelligence, deep learning-based structural damage identification techniques have attracted wide attention. In this paper, the convolutional neural network (CNN) is used to extract the damage feature of simple supported steel beams. Firstly, the transient dynamic analysis of the steel beam is carried out by finite element software, and the acceleration response signals under different damage scenarios are obtained. Then, the acceleration response signal is decomposed by wavelet packet decomposition (WPD) to extract the wavelet packet band energy ratio variation (ERV) index as the training sample of CNN. Subsequently, the vibration experiment of a simple supported steel beam was carried out, and the results were compared with the numerical simulation results. The characteristic indexes were obtained by making corresponding changes to the vibration signal, and then, the experimental data were input into the CNN to predict the effect of damage detection. The results show that the method can successfully detect the intact structure, single damage, and multiple damages with an accuracy of 95.14% under impact load, and the performance is better than that of support vector machine (SVM), with good robustness. Featured Application: The comparison carried out in this paper through different Machine Learning and Deep Learning models defines the most appropriate techniques to forecast the rooftop photovoltaic production. The increasing trend in energy demand is higher than the one from renewable generation, in the coming years. One of the greatest sources of consumption are buildings. The energy management of a building by means of the production of photovoltaic energy in situ is a common alternative to improve sustainability in this sector. An efficient trade-off of the photovoltaic source in the fields of Zero Energy Buildings (ZEB), nearly Zero Energy Buildings (nZEB) or MicroGrids (MG) requires an accurate forecast of photovoltaic production. These systems constantly generate data that are not used. Artificial Intelligence methods can take advantage of this missing information and provide accurate forecasts in real time. Thus, in this manuscript a comparative analysis is carried out to determine the most appropriate Artificial Intelligence methods to forecast photovoltaic production in buildings. On the one hand, the Machine Learning methods considered are Random Forest (RF), Extreme Gradient Boost (XGBoost), and Support Vector Regressor (SVR). On the other hand, Deep Learning techniques used are Standard Neural Network (SNN), Recurrent Neural Network (RNN), and Convolutional Neural Network (CNN). The models are checked with data from a real building. The models are validated using normalized Mean Bias Error (nMBE), normalized Root Mean Squared Error (nRMSE), and the coefficient of variation (R2). Standard deviation is also used in conjunction with these metrics. The results show that the models forecast the test set with errors of less than 2.00% (nMBE) and 7.50% (nRMSE) in the case of considering nights, and 4.00% (nMBE) and 11.50% (nRMSE) if nights are not considered. Over the past few years, Internet applications have become more advanced and widely used. This has increased the need for Internet networks to be secured. Intrusion detection systems (IDSs), which employ artificial intelligence (AI) methods, are vital to ensuring network security. As a branch of AI, deep learning (DL) algorithms are now effectively applied in IDSs. Among deep learning neural networks, the convolutional neural network (CNN) is a well-known structure designed to process complex data. The CNN overcomes the typical limitations of conventional machine learning approaches and is mainly used in IDSs. Several CNN-based approaches are employed in IDSs to handle privacy issues and security threats. However, there are no comprehensive surveys of IDS schemes that have utilized CNN to the best of our knowledge. Hence, in this study, our primary focus is on CNN-based IDSs so as to increase our understanding of various uses of the CNN in detecting network intrusions, anomalies, and other types of attacks. This paper innovatively organizes the studied CNN-IDS approaches into multiple categories and describes their primary capabilities and contributions. The main features of these approaches, such as the dataset, architecture, input shape, evaluated metrics, performance, feature extraction, and classifier method, are compared. Because different datasets are used in CNN-IDS research, their experimental results are not comparable. In this paper, we present a novel methodology based on machine learning for identifying the most appropriate from a set of available state-of-the-art object detectors for a given application. Our particular interest is to develop a road map for identifying verifiably optimal selections, especially for challenging applications such as detecting small objects in a mixed-size object dataset. State-of-the-art object detection systems often find the localisation of small-size objects challenging since most are usually trained on large-size objects. These contain abundant information as they occupy a large number of pixels relative to the total image size. This fact is normally exploited by the model during training and inference processes. To dissect and understand this process, our approach systematically examines detectors' performances using two very distinct deep convolutional networks. The first is the single-stage YOLO V3 and the second is the double-stage Faster R-CNN. Specifically, our proposed method explores and visually illustrates the impact of feature extraction layers, number of anchor boxes, data augmentation, etc., utilising ideas from the field of explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI). Our results, for example, show that multi-head YOLO V3 detectors trained using augmented data produce better performance even with a fewer number of anchor boxes. Moreover, robustness regarding the detector's ability to explain how a specific decision was reached is investigated using different explanation techniques. Finally, two new visualisation techniques are proposed, WS-Grad and Concat-Grad, for identifying explanation cues of different detectors. These are applied to specific object detection tasks to illustrate their reliability and transparency with respect to the decision process. It is shown that the proposed techniques can result in high resolution and comprehensive heatmaps of the image areas, significantly affecting detector decisions as compared to the state-of-the-art techniques tested. Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a degenerative condition of the brain that affects the memory and reasoning abilities of patients. Memory is steadily wiped out by this condition, which gradually affects the brain's ability to think, recall, and form intentions. In order to properly identify this disease, a variety of manual imaging modalities including CT, MRI, PET, etc. are being used. These methods, however, are time-consuming and troublesome in the context of early diagnostics. This is why deep learning models have been devised that are less time-intensive, require less high-tech hardware or human interaction, continue to improve in performance, and are useful for the prediction of AD, which can also be verified by experimental results obtained by doctors in medical institutions or health care facilities. In this paper, we propose a hybrid-based AI-based model that includes the combination of both transfer learning (TL) and permutation-based machine learning (ML) voting classifier in terms of two basic phases. In the first phase of implementation, it comprises two TL-based models: namely, DenseNet-121 and Densenet-201 for features extraction, whereas in the second phase of implementation, it carries out three different ML classifiers like SVM, Naïve base and XGBoost for classification purposes. The final classifier outcomes are evaluated by means of permutations of the voting mechanism. The proposed model achieved accuracy of 91.75%, specificity of 96.5%, and an F1-score of 90.25. The dataset used for training was obtained from Kaggle and contains 6200 photos, including 896 images classified as mildly demented, 64 images classified as moderately demented, 3200 images classified as non-demented, and 1966 images classified as extremely mildly demented. The results show that the suggested model outperforms current state-of-the-art models. The goal of this paper is to provide a Machine Learning-based solution that can be utilized to automate the Chicago Classification algorithm, the state-of-the-art scheme for esophageal motility disease identification. First, the photos were preprocessed by locating the area of interest—the precise instant of swallowing. After resizing and rescaling the photos, they were utilized as input for the Deep Learning models. The InceptionV3 Deep Learning model was used to identify the precise class of the IRP. We used the DenseNet201 CNN architecture to classify the images into 5 different classes of swallowing disorders. Finally, we combined the results of the two trained ML models to automate the Chicago Classification algorithm. With this solution we obtained a top-1 accuracy and f1-score of 86% with no human intervention, automating the whole flow, from image preprocessing until Chicago classification and diagnosis. Deep neural networks are one of the most successful classifiers across different domains. However, their use is limited in safety-critical areas due to their limitations concerning interpretability. The research field of explainable artificial intelligence addresses this problem. However, most interpretability methods align to the imaging modality by design. The paper introduces TimeREISE, a model agnostic attribution method that shows success in the context of time series classification. The method applies perturbations to the input and considers different attribution map characteristics such as the granularity and density of an attribution map. The approach demonstrates superior performance compared to existing methods concerning different well-established measurements. TimeREISE shows impressive results in the deletion and insertion test, Infidelity, and Sensitivity. Concerning the continuity of an explanation, it showed superior performance while preserving the correctness of the attribution map. Additional sanity checks prove the correctness of the approach and its dependency on the model parameters. TimeREISE scales well with an increasing number of channels and timesteps. TimeREISE applies to any time series classification network and does not rely on prior data knowledge. This will help society in the early detection of the disorder, which reduces the burden on radiologists and reduces its long-term impact on a large population. Previously, researchers have developed numerous models for detecting abnormalities in musculoskeletal radiographs of upper extremities, but did not succeed in achieving respectable accuracy in the case of finger radiographs. A novel deep neural network-based hybrid architecture named ComDNet-512 is proposed in this paper to efficiently detect the bone abnormalities in the musculoskeletal radiograph of a patient. ComDNet-512 comprises a three-phase pipeline structure: compression, training of the dense neural network, and progressive resizing. The ComDNet-512 hybrid model is trained with finger radiographs samples to make a binary prediction, i.e., normal or abnormal bones. The proposed model showed phenomenon outcomes when cross-validated on the testing samples of arthritis patients and gives many superior results when compared with state-of-the-art practices. The model is able to achieve an area under the ROC curve (AUC) equal to 0.894 (sensitivity = 0.941 and specificity = 0.847). The Precision, Recall, F1 Score, and Kappa values, recorded as 0.86, 0.94, 0.89, and 0.78, respectively, are better than any of the previous models'. Wildfire damage severity census is a crucial activity for estimating monetary losses and for planning a prompt restoration of the affected areas. It consists in assigning, after a wildfire, a numerical damage/severity level, between 0 and 4, to each sub-area of the hit area. While burned area identification has been automatized by means of machine learning algorithms, the wildfire damage severity census operation is usually still performed manually and requires a significant effort of domain experts through the analysis of imagery and, sometimes, on-site missions. In this paper, we propose a novel supervised learning approach for the automatic estimation of the damage/severity level of the hit areas after the wildfire extinction. Specifically, the proposed approach, leveraging on the combination of a classification algorithm and a regression one, predicts the damage/severity level of the sub-areas of the area under analysis by processing a single post-fire satellite acquisition. Our approach has been validated in five different European countries and on 21 wildfires. For malicious purposes, attackers hide malware in the software used by their victims. New malware is continuously being shared on the Internet, which differs both in terms of the type of malware and method of damage. When new malware is discovered, it is possible to check whether there has been similar malware in the past and to use the old malware to counteract the new malware; however, it is difficult to check the maliciousness and similarity of all software. Thus, deep learning technology can be used to efficiently detect and classify malware. This study improves this technology's accuracy by converting static features, which are binary data, into images and by converting time-series data, such as API call sequences, which are dynamic data with different lengths for each datum, into data with fixed lengths. We propose a system that combines AI-based malware detection and classification systems trained on both static and dynamic features. Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is a severe complication of diabetes, causing damage to retinal blood vessels due to high blood sugar levels. Early detection is crucial but often requires significant time and expertise from ophthalmologists. While artificial intelligence (AI) and image recognition hold promise for DR detection, inconsistent image quality poses a challenge. Our study presents a novel technique that integrates pixel color amplification and EfficientNetV2 to enhance fundus image attributes, aiming to address issues related to image quality and achieving superior performance in DR detection. Leveraging EfficientNetV2, an advanced convolutional neural network (CNN) architecture, we achieve 84% multiclass accuracy and 99% binary accuracy, surpassing various other CNN models, including VGG16-fc1, VGG16-fc2, NASNet, Xception, Inception ResNetV2, EfficientNet, InceptionV3, MobileNet, and ResNet50. Background: Cutaneous melanoma remains an increasing global public health burden, particularly in fair-skinned populations. This systematic review aimed to report the performance metrics of commercially available convolutional neural networks (CNNs) tasked with detecting MM. Methods: A systematic literature search was performed using CINAHL, Medline, Scopus, ScienceDirect and Web of Science databases. Results: A total of 16 articles reporting MM were included in this review. The combined number of melanomas detected was 1160, and non-melanoma lesions were 33,010. The performance of market-approved technology and clinician performance for classifying melanoma was highly heterogeneous, with sensitivity ranging from 16.4 to 100.0%, specificity between 40.0 and 98.3% and accuracy between 44.0 and 92.0%. Less heterogeneity was observed when clinicians worked in unison with AI, with sensitivity ranging between 83.3 and 100.0%, specificity between 83.7 and 87.3%, and accuracy between 86.4 and 86.9%. Real-time and high-precision land cover classification is the foundation for efficient and quantitative research on grassland degradation using remote sensing techniques. In view of the shortcomings of manual surveying and satellite remote sensing, this study focuses on the identification and classification of grass species indicating grassland degradation. We constructed a UAV-based hyperspectral remote sensing system and collected field data in grassland areas. By applying artificial intelligence technology, we developed a 3D_RNet-O model based on convolutional neural networks, effectively addressing technical challenges in hyperspectral remote sensing identification and classification of grassland degradation indicators, such as low reflectance of vegetation, flat spectral curves, and sparse distribution. The results showed that the model achieved a classification accuracy of 99.05% by optimizing hyperparameter combinations based on improving residual block structures. The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) with Digital Twins (DTs) has emerged as a promising approach to revolutionize healthcare, particularly in terms of diagnosis and management of thoracic disorders. This study proposes a comprehensive framework, named Lung-DT, which leverages IoT sensors and AI algorithms to establish the digital representation of a patient's respiratory health. Using the YOLOv8 neural network, the Lung-DT system accurately classifies chest X-rays into five distinct categories of lung diseases, including "normal", "covid", "lung_opacity", "pneumonia", and "tuberculosis". The performance of the system was evaluated employing a chest X-ray dataset available in the literature, demonstrating average accuracy of 96.8%, precision of 92%, recall of 97%, and F1-score of 94%. The proposed Lung-DT framework offers several advantages over conventional diagnostic methods. However, their broader application has been hampered mainly by their lengthy reading times. Whilst the prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) PET scan has high diagnostic accuracy, it suffers from inter-reader variability, and the time-consuming reporting process. This systematic review was registered on PROSPERO (ID CRD42023456044) and aims to evaluate AI's ability to enhance reporting, diagnostics, and predictive capabilities for mPCa on PSMA PET scans. Inclusion criteria covered studies using AI to evaluate mPCa on PSMA PET, excluding non-PSMA tracers. A search was conducted on Medline, Embase, and Scopus from inception to July 2023. After screening 249 studies, 11 remained eligible for inclusion. Due to the heterogeneity of studies, meta-analysis was precluded. The prediction model risk of bias assessment tool (PROBAST) indicated a low overall risk of bias in ten studies, though only one incorporated clinical parameters (such as age, and Gleason score). AI demonstrated a high accuracy (98%) in identifying lymph node involvement and metastatic disease, albeit with sensitivity variation (62–97%). Proliferative Diabetic Retinopathy (PDR) is a severe retinal disease that threatens diabetic patients. It is characterized by neovascularization in the retina and the optic disk. PDR clinical features contain highly intense retinal neovascularization and fibrous spreads, leading to visual distortion if not controlled. Different image processing techniques have been proposed to detect and diagnose neovascularization from fundus images. Recently, deep learning methods are getting popular in neovascularization detection due to artificial intelligence advancement in biomedical image processing. This paper presents a semantic segmentation convolutional neural network architecture for neovascularization detection. First, image pre-processing steps were applied to enhance the fundus images. Then, the images were divided into small patches, forming a training set, a validation set, and a testing set. A semantic segmentation convolutional neural network was designed and trained to detect the neovascularization regions on the images. Finally, the network was tested using the testing set for performance evaluation. The proposed model is entirely automated in detecting and localizing neovascularization lesions, which is not possible with previously published methods. Evaluation results showed that the model could achieve accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, precision, Jaccard similarity, and Dice similarity of 0.9948, 0.8772, 0.9976, 0.8696, 0.7643, and 0.8466, respectively. The timely identification and early prevention of crop diseases are essential for improving production. In this paper, deep convolutional-neural-network (CNN) models are implemented to identify and diagnose diseases in plants from their leaves, since CNNs have achieved impressive results in the field of machine vision. Standard CNN models require a large number of parameters and higher computation cost. In this paper, we replaced standard convolution with depth=separable convolution, which reduces the parameter number and computation cost. The implemented models were trained with an open dataset consisting of 14 different plant species, and 38 different categorical disease classes and healthy plant leaves. To evaluate the performance of the models, different parameters such as batch size, dropout, and different numbers of epochs were incorporated. The implemented models achieved a disease-classification accuracy rates of 98.42%, 99.11%, 97.02%, and 99.56% using InceptionV3, InceptionResNetV2, MobileNetV2, and EfficientNetB0, respectively, which were greater than that of traditional handcrafted-feature-based approaches. In comparison with other deep-learning models, the implemented model achieved better performance in terms of accuracy and it required less training time. Moreover, the MobileNetV2 architecture is compatible with mobile devices using the optimized parameter. The accuracy results in the identification of diseases showed that the deep CNN model is promising and can greatly impact the efficient identification of the diseases, and may have potential in the detection of diseases in real-time agricultural systems. Ensuring access to safe drinking water is a critical concern, particularly in regions with limited resources. This study evaluates groundwater potability using a range of machine learning models, including logistic regression, K-Nearest Neighbors (KNN), Support Vector Classifier (SVC), and Random Forest, as well as deep learning models such as Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs), Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs), Feedforward Neural Networks (FNNs), and Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM). We collected thirty groundwater samples from residential and industrial locations in Jaen, Kano State, Nigeria, focusing on nine crucial physicochemical parameters: electric conductivity, pH, total dissolved solids, calcium, magnesium, chloride, zinc, manganese, and copper. Machine learning models, such as Logistic Regression and Random Forest, achieved accuracy scores of 0.833. They were closely followed by deep learning models, such as ANNs, with an accuracy score of 0.833, and LSTM, which scored 0.666. KNN and SVC provided moderately accurate predictions, scoring 0.667, while CNN and FNN achieved lower scores of 0.333 and 0.5, respectively. Glaucoma, a disease that damages the optic nerve, is the leading cause of irreversible blindness worldwide. The early detection of glaucoma is a challenge, which in recent years has driven the study and application of Deep Learning (DL) techniques in the automatic classification of eye fundus images. Among these intelligent systems, Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) stand out, although alternatives have recently appeared, such as Vision Transformers (ViTs) or hybrid systems, which are also highly efficient in image processing. The question that arises in the face of so many emerging methods is whether all these new techniques are really more efficient for the problem of glaucoma diagnosis than the CNNs that have been used so far. This study explores the integration of Wide Field Optical Coherence Tomography (WF-OCT) with an AI-driven clinical decision support system, with the goal of enhancing productivity and decision making in breast cancer surgery margin assessment. A computationally efficient convolutional neural network (CNN)-based binary classifier is developed using 585 WF-OCT margin scans from 151 subjects. The CNN model swiftly identifies suspicious areas within margins with an on-device inference time of approximately 10 ms for a 420 × 2400 image. In independent testing on 155 pathology-confirmed margins, including 31 positive margins from 29 patients, the classifier achieved an AUROC of 0.976, a sensitivity of 0.93, and a specificity of 0.98. At the margin level, the deep learning model accurately identified 96.8% of pathology-positive margins. These results highlight the clinical viability of AI-enhanced margin visualization using WF-OCT in breast cancer surgery and its potential to decrease reoperation rates due to residual tumors. (1) Background: Computed tomography (CT) imaging challenges in diagnosing renal cell carcinoma (RCC) include distinguishing malignant from benign tissues and determining the likely subtype. The goal is to show the algorithm's ability to improve renal cell carcinoma identification and treatment, improving patient outcomes. Traditional oil quality measurement is mostly based on chemical indicators such as acid value, peroxide value, and p-anisidine value. This process requires specialized knowledge and involves complex steps. Hence, this study designs and proposes a Sesame Oil Quality Assessment Service Platform, which is composed of an Intelligent Sesame Oil Evaluator (ISO Evaluator) and a Cloud Service Platform. Users can quickly assess the quality of sesame oil using this platform. The ISO Evaluator employs Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT) sensors to detect changes in volatile gases and the color of the oil during storage. It utilizes deep learning mechanisms, including Artificial Neural Network (ANN), Convolutional Neural Network (CNN), and Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) to determine and evaluate the quality of the sesame oil. Evaluation results demonstrate that the linear discriminant analysis (LDA) value is 95.13. The MQ2, MQ3, MQ4, MQ7, and MQ8 sensors have a positive correlation. The CNN combined with an ANN model achieves a Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE) of 8.1820% for predicting oil quality, while the LSTM model predicts future variations in oil quality indicators with a MAPE of 0.44%. With continuous development of artificial intelligence, text classification has gradually changed from a knowledge-based method to a method based on statistics and machine learning. Among them, it is a very important and efficient way to classify text based on the convolutional neural network (CNN) model. Text data are a kind of sequence data, while time sequentiality of the general text data is relatively weak, so text classification is usually less relevant to the sequential structure of the full text. Therefore, CNN-based text classification has gradually become a research hotspot when dealing with issues of text classification. For machine learning, especially deep learning, model interpretability has increasingly become the focus of academic research and industrial applications, and also become a key issue for further development and application of deep learning technology. Therefore, we recommend using the backtracking analysis method to conduct in-depth research on deep learning models. This paper proposes an analysis method for interpretability of a CNN text classification model. The method proposed by us can perform multi-angle analysis on the discriminant results of multi-classified text and multi-label classification tasks through backtracking analysis on model prediction results. Finally, the analysis results of the model can be displayed using visualization technology from multiple dimensions based on interpretability. Cloud detection is an important and difficult task in the pre-processing of satellite remote sensing data. The results of traditional cloud detection methods are often unsatisfactory in complex environments or the presence of various noise disturbances. With the rapid development of artificial intelligence technology, deep learning methods have achieved great success in many fields such as image processing, speech recognition, autonomous driving, etc. This study proposes a deep learning model suitable for cloud detection, Cloud-AttU, which is based on a U-Net network and incorporates an attention mechanism. The Cloud-AttU model adopts the symmetric Encoder-Decoder structure, which achieves the fusion of high-level features and low-level features through the skip-connection operation, making the output results contain richer multi-scale information. This symmetrical network structure is concise and stable, significantly enhancing the effect of image segmentation. Based on the characteristics of cloud detection, the model is improved by introducing an attention mechanism that allows model to learn more effective features and distinguish between cloud and non-cloud pixels more accurately. The experimental results show that the method proposed in this paper has a significant accuracy advantage over the traditional cloud detection method. The proposed method is also able to achieve great results in the presence of snow/ice disturbance and other bright non-cloud objects, with strong resistance to disturbance. The main purpose of the study was to develop a high accuracy system able to diagnose skin lesions using deep learning–based methods. We propose a new decision system based on multiple classifiers like neural networks and feature–based methods. Each classifier (method) gives the final decision system a certain weight, depending on the calculated accuracy, helping the system make a better decision. First, we created a neural network (NN) that can differentiate melanoma from benign nevus. The NN architecture is analyzed by evaluating it during the training process. Some biostatistic parameters, such as accuracy, specificity, sensitivity, and Dice coefficient are calculated. Then, we developed three other methods based on convolutional neural networks (CNNs). The CNNs were pre-trained using large ImageNet and Places365 databases. GoogleNet, ResNet-101, and NasNet-Large, were used in the enumeration order. CNN architectures were fine-tuned in order to distinguish the different types of skin lesions using transfer learning. The accuracies of the classifications were determined. The last proposed method uses the classical method of image object detection, more precisely, the one in which some features are extracted from the images, followed by the classification step. In this case, the classification was done by using a support vector machine. Just as in the first method, the sensitivity, specificity, Dice similarity coefficient and accuracy are determined. A comparison of the obtained results from all the methods is then done. As mentioned above, the novelty of this paper is the integration of these methods in a global fusion-based decision system that uses the results obtained by each individual method to establish the fusion weights. Vibration analysis is an established method for fault detection and diagnosis of rolling element bearings. However, it is an expert oriented exercise. To relieve the experts, the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques such as deep neural networks, especially convolutional neural networks (CNN) have gained the attention of researchers because of their image classification and recognition capability. Most researchers convert the vibration signal into representative time frequency vibration images such as spectrograms and scalograms. These images are used as inputs to train the CNN model for fault diagnosis. Commonly, fault diagnosis is performed under same operating conditions, where models are trained and deployed for prediction under the same operating conditions. However, outside the laboratory environment, in real world applications, different operating conditions, such as variable speed, may be encountered. With the change in speed, the characteristic frequencies of the vibration signal will also change, which will result in changing the vibration image. Consequently, the performance of the CNN model may drop significantly for prediction under different operating conditions. Accessing the training data from all potential operating conditions may not be feasible for most real-world applications. Therefore, there is a need to find some signal properties which are invariant to change in operating conditions and only change due to change in health state so that models trained under one set of operating conditions may predict correctly under different operating conditions. This paper proposes a defect diagnosis method for rolling element bearings, under variable operating conditions (speed and load) based on CNN and order maps. These maps exhibit consistent properties under varying speed; therefore, they can be used to train the CNN model for fault diagnosis under variable speed. The effect of load change on these order maps is experimentally studied and it is found that the proposed method can undertake fault diagnosis on rolling element bearings under variable speeds and loads with high accuracy. In this technical note, we examine the capabilities of deep convolutional neural networks (DCNNs) for diagnosing osteoporosis through cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) scans of the mandible. The evaluation was conducted using 188 patients' mandibular CBCT images utilizing DCNN models built on the ResNet-101 framework. We adopted a segmented three-phase method to assess osteoporosis. Stage 1 focused on mandibular bone slice identification, Stage 2 pinpointed the coordinates for mandibular bone cross-sectional views, and Stage 3 computed the mandibular bone's thickness, highlighting osteoporotic variances. The procedure, built using ResNet-101 networks, showcased efficacy in osteoporosis detection using CBCT scans: Stage 1 achieved a remarkable 98.85% training accuracy, Stage 2 minimized L1 loss to a mere 1.02 pixels, and the last stage's bone thickness computation algorithm reported a mean squared error of 0.8377. These findings underline the significant potential of AI in osteoporosis identification and its promise for enhanced medical care. The compartmentalized method endorses a sturdier DCNN training and heightened model transparency. Convolutional neural networks (CNNs) have excelled in artificial intelligence, particularly in image-related tasks such as classification and object recognition. However, manually designing CNN architectures demands significant domain expertise and involves time-consuming trial-and-error processes, along with substantial computational resources. To overcome this challenge, an automated network design method known as Modified Teaching-Learning-Based Optimization with Refined Knowledge Sharing (MTLBORKS-CNN) is introduced. It autonomously searches for optimal CNN architectures, achieving high classification performance on specific datasets without human intervention. MTLBORKS-CNN incorporates four key features. It employs an effective encoding scheme for various network hyperparameters, facilitating the search for innovative and valid network architectures. During the modified teacher phase, it leverages a social learning concept to calculate unique exemplars that effectively guide learners while preserving diversity. In the modified learner phase, self-learning and adaptive peer learning are incorporated to enhance knowledge acquisition of learners during CNN architecture optimization. Finally, MTLBORKS-CNN employs a dual-criterion selection scheme, considering both fitness and diversity, to determine the survival of learners in subsequent generations. MTLBORKS-CNN is rigorously evaluated across nine image datasets and compared with state-of-the-art methods. The results consistently demonstrate MTLBORKS-CNN's superiority in terms of classification accuracy and network complexity, suggesting its potential for infrastructural development of smart devices. The use of artificial intelligence has shown good performance in the medical imaging area, in particular the deep learning methods based on convolutional neural networks for classification, detection, and/or segmentation tasks. The task addressed in this research work is the segmentation of amastigote nests from histological microphotographs in the study of Trypanosoma cruzi infection (Chagas disease) implementing a U-Net convolutional network architecture. For the nests' segmentation, a U-Net architecture was trained on histological images of an acute-stage murine experimental model performing a 5-fold cross-validation, while the final tests were carried out with data unseen by the U-Net from three image groups of different experimental models. During the training stage, the obtained results showed an average accuracy of 98.19 ± 0.01, while in the case of the final tests, an average accuracy of 99.9 ± 0.1 was obtained for the control group, as well as 98.8 ± 0.9 and 99.1 ± 0.8 for two infected groups; in all cases, high sensitivity and specificity were observed in the results. We can conclude that the use of a U-Net architecture proves to be a relevant tool in supporting the diagnosis and analysis of histological images for the study of Chagas disease. The significance of emotion recognition technology is continuing to grow, and research in this field enables artificial intelligence to accurately understand and react to human emotions. This study aims to enhance the efficacy of emotion recognition from speech by using dimensionality reduction algorithms for visualization, effectively outlining emotion-specific audio features. As a model for emotion recognition, we propose a new model architecture that combines the bidirectional long short-term memory (BiLSTM)–Transformer and a 2D convolutional neural network (CNN). The BiLSTM–Transformer processes audio features to capture the sequence of speech patterns, while the 2D CNN handles Mel-Spectrograms to capture the spatial details of audio. To validate the proficiency of the model, the 10-fold cross-validation method is used. The methodology proposed in this study was applied to Emo-DB and RAVDESS, two major emotion recognition from speech databases, and achieved high unweighted accuracy rates of 95.65% and 80.19%, respectively. These results indicate that the use of the proposed transformer-based deep learning model with appropriate feature selection can enhance performance in emotion recognition from speech. Induction machines (IMs) play a critical role in various industrial processes but are susceptible to degenerative failures, such as broken rotor bars. Effective diagnostic techniques are essential in addressing these issues. In this study, we propose the utilization of convolutional neural networks (CNNs) for detection of broken rotor bars. To accomplish this, we generated a dataset comprising current samples versus angular position using finite element method magnetics (FEMM) software for a squirrel-cage rotor with 28 bars, including scenarios with 0 to 6 broken bars at every possible relative position. The dataset consists of a total of 16,050 samples per motor. We evaluated the performance of six different CNN architectures, namely Inception V4, NasNETMobile, ResNET152, SeNET154, VGG16, and VGG19. Our automatic classification system demonstrated an impressive 99% accuracy in detecting broken rotor bars, with VGG19 performing exceptionally well. Specifically, VGG19 exhibited high accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-Score, with values approaching 0.994 and 0.998. Notably, VGG19 exhibited crucial activations in its feature maps, particularly after domain-specific training, highlighting its effectiveness in fault detection. Comparing CNN architectures assists in selecting the most suitable one for this application based on processing time, effectiveness, and training losses. This research suggests that deep learning can detect broken bars in induction machines with accuracy comparable to that of traditional methods by analyzing current signals using CNNs. The research describes an effective deep learning-based, data-centric approach for diagnosing autism spectrum disorder from facial images. To classify ASD and non-ASD subjects, this method requires training a convolutional neural network using the facial image dataset. As a part of the data-centric approach, this research applies pre-processing and synthesizing of the training dataset. The trained model is subsequently evaluated on an independent test set in order to assess the performance matrices of various data-centric approaches. The results reveal that the proposed method that simultaneously applies the pre-processing and augmentation approach on the training dataset outperforms the recent works, achieving excellent 98.9% prediction accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity while having 99.9% AUC. This work enhances the clarity and comprehensibility of the algorithm by integrating explainable AI techniques, providing clinicians with valuable and interpretable insights into the decision-making process of the ASD diagnosis model. Simple Summary: Ovarian cancer remains the leading cause of mortality from gynecologic cancer. In this study, we present a deep-learning artificial intelligence framework that uses pre-treatment histopathology images of high-grade ovarian cancers to predict the cancer's sensitivity or resistance to subsequent platinum-based chemotherapy. Analyses of this type could provide fast, inexpensive prediction of response to therapy at the time of initial pathological diagnosis. Background: Ovarian cancer remains the leading gynecological cause of cancer mortality. Predicting the sensitivity of ovarian cancer to chemotherapy at the time of pathological diagnosis is a goal of precision medicine research that we have addressed in this study using a novel deep-learning neural network framework to analyze the histopathological images. Methods: We have developed a method based on the Inception V3 deep learning algorithm that complements other methods for predicting response to standard platinum-based therapy of the disease. For the study, we used histopathological H&E images (pre-treatment) of high-grade serous carcinoma from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) Genomic Data Commons portal to train the Inception V3 convolutional neural network system to predict whether cancers had independently been labeled as sensitive or resistant to subsequent platinum-based chemotherapy. The trained model was then tested using data from patients left out of the training process. We used receiver operating characteristic (ROC) and confusion matrix analyses to evaluate model performance and Kaplan–Meier survival analysis to correlate the predicted probability of resistance with patient outcome. Finally, occlusion sensitivity analysis was piloted as a start toward correlating histopathological features with a response. Results: The study dataset consisted of 248 patients with stage 2 to 4 serous ovarian cancer. For a held-out test set of forty patients, the trained deep learning network model distinguished sensitive from resistant cancers with an area under the curve (AUC) of 0.846 ± 0.009 (SE). The probability of resistance calculated from the deep-learning network was also significantly correlated with patient survival and progression-free survival. In confusion matrix analysis, the network classifier achieved an overall predictive accuracy of 85% with a sensitivity of 73% and specificity of 90% for this cohort based on the Youden-J cut-off. Stage, grade, and patient age were not statistically significant for this cohort size. Occlusion sensitivity analysis suggested histopathological features learned by the network that may be associated with sensitivity or resistance to the chemotherapy, but multiple marker studies will be necessary to follow up on those preliminary results. Conclusions: This type of analysis has the potential, if further developed, to improve the prediction of response to therapy of high-grade serous ovarian cancer and perhaps be useful as a factor in deciding between platinum-based and other therapies. There is no doubt that CNN has made remarkable technological developments as the core technology of computer vision, but the pooling technique used for CNN has its own issues. This study set out to solve the issues of the pooling technique by proposing conditional min pooling and a restructured convolutional neural network that improved the pooling structure to ensure efficient use of the conditional min pooling. Some Caltech 101 and crawling data were used to test the performance of the conditional min pooling and restructured convolutional neural network. The pooling performance test based on Caltech 101 increased in accuracy by 0.16~0.52% and decreased in loss by 19.98~28.71% compared with the old pooling technique. The restructured convolutional neural network did not have a big improvement in performance compared to the old algorithm, but it provided significant outcomes with similar performance results to the algorithm. The COVID-19 pandemic has been a worldwide catastrophe. Its impact, not only economically, but also socially and in terms of human lives, was unexpected. Each of the many mechanisms to fight the contagiousness of the illness has been proven to be extremely important. One of the most important mechanisms is the use of facemasks. However, the wearing the facemasks incorrectly makes this prevention method useless. Artificial Intelligence (AI) and especially facial recognition techniques can be used to detect misuses and reduce virus transmission, especially indoors. In this paper, we present an intelligent method to automatically detect when facemasks are being worn incorrectly in real-time scenarios. Our proposal uses Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) with transfer learning to detect not only if a mask is used or not, but also other errors that are usually not taken into account but that may contribute to the virus spreading. The main problem that we have detected is that there is currently no training set for this task. It is for this reason that we have requested the participation of citizens by taking different selfies through an app and placing the mask in different positions. Thus, we have been able to solve this problem. The results show that the accuracy achieved with transfer learning slightly improves the accuracy achieved with convolutional neural networks.
