The precise, controllable, and safe application of pesticides can effectively reduce pesticide consumption and minimize chemical pollution at the source. Here, a light‐responsive controlled‐release system with flexible control, precise release, easy recovery, and suitability for future pesticide application in aquatic environments is proposed. The system precisely controls the release of pesticides through a light‐responsive composite nanochannel membrane (CTC@SNM/PET) with reactive coumarin derivatives (CTC) as gating molecules. The prepared nanochannel membrane has an ultrathin thickness of 67.5 nm and well‐ordered vertical nanochannels with a uniform size of 1.9 nm, providing a prerequisite for precise molecular gating and high permeability for mass transport. CTC monomers can realize cycloaddition/cyclocracking and nanochannel closing/opening to control the release of pesticides by controlling 365/254 nm ultraviolet light irradiation. As a proof of concept, the light‐responsive controlled‐release system based on CTC@MSF/PET against Saprolegnia parasitica achieves an inhibition rate of more than 95% and reduces pesticide residues by 56.5% compared to the control group. The proposed membrane system has great application potential to easily enable remote, quantitative, timed, and positioned pesticide application, thereby reducing pesticide residues and providing a prospective approach to reducing environmental and human risks. Background: Patients with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) are reported to have a higher risk of osteoporosis/fractures; however, the causal relationship remains unclear. Methods: Publicly available genome‐wide association studies (GWASs) were used for Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis. GWASs of NAFLD and fractures were obtained from the FinnGen Consortium. GWASs of bone mineral density (BMD) were derived from a meta‐analysis. GWASs of obesity, diabetes, liver function, and serum lipid‐related metrics were used to clarify whether the accompanying NAFLD symptoms contributed to fractures. Moreover, two additional GWASs of NAFLD were applied. Results: A causal association was not observed between NAFLD and BMD using GWASs from the FinnGen Consortium. However, a causal relationship between NAFLD and femoral neck‐BMD (FN‐BMD), a suggestive relationship between fibrosis and FN‐BMD, and between NAFLD and osteoporosis were identified in replication GWASs. Genetically proxied body mass index (BMI), high‐density lipoprotein (HDL), and hip circumference increased the likelihood of lower limb fractures. The waist‐to‐hip ratio decreased, whereas glycated hemoglobin (HbA1C) and homeostasis model assessment of β‐cell function (HOMA‐B) increased the risk of forearm fractures. Low‐density lipoprotein (LDL) reduced, whereas HbA1C increased the incidence of femoral fractures. Alkaline phosphatase (ALP) raised the risk of foot fractures. However, after a multivariate MR analysis (adjusted for BMI), all the relationships became insignificant. Conclusions: NAFLD caused reduced BMD, and genetically predicted HDL, LDL, HbA1C, HOMA‐B, ALP, hip circumference, and waist‐to‐hip ratio causally increased the risk of fractures. We report a highly enantioselective intermolecular C−H bond silylation catalyzed by a phosphoramidite‐ligated iridium catalyst. Under reagent‐controlled protocols, propargylsilanes resulting from C(sp3)−H functionalization, as well the regioisomeric and synthetically versatile allenylsilanes, could be obtained with excellent levels of enantioselectivity and good to excellent control of propargyl/allenyl selectivity. In the case of unsymmetrical dialkyl acetylenes, good to excellent selectivity for functionalization at the less‐hindered site was also observed. A variety of electrophilic silyl sources (R3SiOTf and R3SiNTf2), either commercial or in situ‐generated, were used as the silylation reagents, and a broad range of simple and functionalized alkynes, including aryl alkyl acetylenes, dialkyl acetylenes, 1,3‐enynes, and drug derivatives were successfully employed as substrates. Detailed mechanistic experiments and DFT calculations suggest that an η3‐propargyl/allenyl Ir intermediate is generated upon π‐complexation‐assisted deprotonation and undergoes outer‐sphere attack by the electrophilic silylating reagent to give propargylic silanes, with the latter step identified as the enantiodetermining step. To find an array of suitable materials for phosphorescent organic light‐emitting diodes (OLEDs), in this paper, we design six blue‐green phosphorescent Ir (III) complexes that have low‐efficiency roll‐off properties. Density functional theory and time‐dependent density functional theory were used to study the properties of (2‐[4‐phenoxyphenyl]pyridine [oppy])2Ir(acetylacetonate [acac]), (oppy)2Ir(picolinate [pic]), (oppy)2Ir(tetraphenylimido‐diphosphinate [tpip]), (5‐fluoro‐2‐(4‐phenoxyphenyl)pyridine [F‐oppy])2Ir(acac), (F‐oppy)2Ir(pic), and (F‐oppy)2Ir(tpip). Here, the main ligands are oppy and F‐oppy, while the auxiliary ligands are acac, pic, and tpip. The advantages of these complexes were analyzed in terms of electronic structure, frontier molecular orbital properties, spectral properties, and OLED display effect. Summary: The objective of this research was to investigate and compare the effect of rapeseed oil, 0.5% β‐cyclodextrin (β‐CD) and rapeseed oil/0.5% β‐cyclodextrin coating on egg quality attributes during storage for 28 days at 25 °C. Egg quality attributes such as weight loss (WL), air cell depth and diameter, Haugh unit (HU), albumen pH, yolk index and colour, eggshell strength and morphology were monitored. Similar initial quality attributes of control, rapeseed oil, 0.5% β‐CD and rapeseed oil/0.5% β‐cyclodextrin‐coated eggs were obtained at day 0. Control (uncoated) and β‐CD‐coated eggs had the worst WL, air cell diameter, air cell depth, albumen pH and a* values after storage for 28 days at 25 °C, while the rapeseed oil/0.5% β‐cyclodextrin‐coated eggs had lower values of air cell diameter (18.20 mm), air cell depth (7.20 mm) and albumin pH (9.12), higher eggshell breaking strength (51.21 N) and a*(25.33). At day 7 and 21, the best quality attributes were obtained by rapeseed oil/0.5% β‐cyclodextrin‐coated eggs, being respectively: WL, yolk index and L*. Less obvious micro‐cracks on the eggshell surface were detected especially in rapeseed oil/0.5% β‐cyclodextrin‐coated eggs, which maintained slightly improved egg quality attributes during storage. In this study, the possibility of using Tween 80 to disturb the microstructures of 1‐butyl‐3‐methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate ([BMIM]BF4) and 1‐butyl‐3‐methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate ([BMIM]PF6) was investigated under high pressures. The imidazolioum CH absorptions of pure ionic liquids (ILs) are significantly blue‐shifted under high pressures. However, mild changes in imidazolioum CH stretching frequencies were observed for IL/Tween 80 mixtures. Tween 80 may hinder cations of ILs to form network structures with anions under high pressures via pressure‐enhanced cation‐Tween 80 interactions. Based on the experimental results, Tween 80‐[BMIM]PF6 interactions are more effective in disturbing the local structure of imidazolium CH than Tween 80‐[BMIM]BF4 interactions. Organoaluminum compounds have been employed as catalysts in many reactions. However, due to their high reactivity of the Al−C bond towards water or air, the accurate analysis and detection of organoaluminum compounds are still challenging. Here we demonstrate the possibility of rapidly and precisely detecting the purity and impurities of triethylaluminium (TEAL). An indirect GC‐MS method via alcoholysis reaction using a designed alcoholysis reactor was adopted to detect and separate the main components and impurities of the synthesized TEAL. Previously, the nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and the inductively coupled plasma‐mass spectrometer (ICP‐MS) methods were also selected to detect the main compounds in the synthesized TEAL. The impurities in TEAL was identified as n‐butyl aluminum, and the purity of synthesized TEAL is 97.47 % with high accuracy (ca. 99 %). Summary: The changes in refrigeration storage after defrosting treatments on functional properties and structure of egg white (EW) were investigated in this study. The foaming properties and surface hydrophobicity decreased significantly (P < 0.05), whereas the free thiol content of EW increased during prolonged refrigeration storage after defrosting treatments. The values of emulsifying activity index were slightly higher in EM subjected to refrigeration storage for 20–30 days after defrosting treatments (P < 0.05). The texture profiles showed that the cooked EW gel subjected to refrigeration storage for 20 days after defrosting treatments, reached the minimum hardness, springiness and gumminess values vs. that of Control and Group 1. Additionally, scanning electron microscope (SEM) reflected that more and larger protein aggregates as well as irregular structure in EM during prolonged refrigeration storage after defrosting treatments. The increase in free sulfhydryl group and decrease in surface hydrophobicity tended to cause protein oxidation, aggregation and degradation, leading to deterioration of functional properties in EW following refrigeration storage after defrosting treatments. The results of this study indicate that it is important to use the EW of Control and Group 1 without any detrimental effects on functional and morphology properties in food processing industry. By virtue of excellent ion storage and fast ion‐diffusion rates, molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) has been regarded as a promising electrocatalyst for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). however, it is inherently inert to HER, its electrochemical activity is usually improved by enhancing electrical conductivity or increasing exposed active sites. To improve the conductivity and adsorption of MoS2, we prepared the MoS4‐Ppy intermediate by oxidative polymerization. Taking advantage of the adsorption properties of MoS4‐Ppy to combine with Au(III), Au(III) was simultaneously reduced to Au nanoparticles(Au NPs). Combining the Au/MoS4‐Ppy with BC and converting it into a catalyst Au/MoS2‐CNT@CNF by calcination, the catalyst activity was improved by optimizing the concentration of Au(III). Combining MoS2 with Polypyrrole (Ppy) and Bacterial cellulose (BC) not only improves the conductivity of MoS2, but also increases the exposed active sites. Notably, the obtained 50 ppm Au/MoS2‐CNT@CNFs exhibited good HER catalytic performance in an acidic electrolyte (0.5 M H2SO4) with a low overpotential of only 108 mV at a current density of 10 mA ⋅ cm−2, a low Tafel slope of 52.1 mV ⋅ dec−1, and along with outstanding stability. The improvement of electrocatalytic activity is mainly attributed to the larger electrochemical specific surface area of the composites after adsorption of Au(III) and loaded BC. The low load Au NPs can provide dense active sites. Moreover, and synergistic effect among Au NPs, MoS2, and Ppy can greatly enhance the charge transfer efficiency and lead to excellent electron transfer ability, thus significantly improving the HER performance. Objectives: Acanthopanax senticosus (Rupr. & Maxim.) Harms is a medicinal and edible plant which is clinically used for the recovery and treatment of cardiovascular and central diseases. As a characteristic active pharmaceutical ingredient of Acanthopanax senticosus, eleutheroside E is the core of the therapeutic effect. Organic solvent extraction has low selectivity, low extraction rate, difficulty in separation and purification and safety risks. The purpose of this study was to extract the effective component of Acanthopanax senticosus with a new green solvent. Methods: In this article, two kinds of deep eutectic solvents (DESs) (DES‐1 and DES‐2) were synthesised by heating and stirring methods. Eleutheroside E was extracted by ultrasonic extraction with two kinds of DES as extractants and quantitatively analysed by Orbitrap‐tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS). Results: The main results showed that the initial polarity of the DES was similar to that of 60 to 80% ethanol and hydrogen bond donors were the main factors affecting the polarity of DES. In the test, the viscosity of DES was higher than that of ethanol, and even the addition of a small amount of water (10%) caused intermolecular hydrogen bond disruption and redistribution of the solvent, resulting in a significant decrease in solvent viscosity. The solvents in the test group were stable after standing at 5°C in the dark for 100 days. The extraction rate of eleutheroside E by DES solvent was 5‐6 times higher than that by ethanol. DES‐1 and DES‐2 can efficiently extract eleutheroside E. Conclusion: This study developed a new method for the application of the green extraction of eleutheroside E with certain practical significance. Eleutheroside E is central to the therapeutic action of Acanthopanax senticosus. The aim of this study was to extract eleutheroside E with a novel green solvent. Two kinds of DESs (DES‐1 and DES‐2) were synthesized by heating and stirring. Eleutheroside E was extracted by sonication using two DES as extractants and analyzed by Orbitrap‐MS/MS. Metal‐organic frameworks (MOFs) are porous coordination polymers formed by metal ions and organic ligands through coordination bonds. In drug delivery applications, MOFs can impart sustained release, targeting, protection of easily degradable drugs, and improved drug solubility. Isoreticular metal‐organic framework‐8 (IRMOF‐8) is a mesoporous MOF with a network topology bridged in the form of an octahedral cluster. Compared with other materials, it has the remarkable advantages of high porosity and a regular pore structure. Curcumin (CUR) is a diketone compound with potent antitumor effects. Due to its poor solubility and stability, its clinical application is limited. Therefore, we used IRMOF‐8 as a carrier for the encapsulation of CUR to overcome the shortcomings of CUR itself and expand its clinical application. In this study, IRMOF‐8 was synthesized through direct mixing of triethylamine (TEA). In vitro cell experiments demonstrated the biocompatibility of IRMOF‐8. Using the solvent adsorption method, CUR was encapsulated by IRMOF‐8 with a drug loading content of 58.86 ± 0.98 wt%. In vitro drug release experiments performed at pH levels of 7.2 and 5.5 showed that the preparation had a sustained‐release effect over 7 days. Through cytotoxicity experiments after drug loading, it was found that CUR@IRMOF‐8 had a strong cytotoxic effect on HepG2 cells, promoted cell apoptosis and intracellular uptake, decreased mitochondrial membrane potential, and increased reactive oxygen species. The detection and separation of impurities are crucial for the quality control of triethylboron. While the purity of triethylboron is the key factor for ballistic performance, impact accuracy, and storage safety. This work will explore a modified gas chromatography‐mass spectrometer method to detect and separate the impurities in synthesized triethylboron. They are identified as CH3CH2OCH2CH3, (CH3CH2)3B, (CH3CH2O)3B, CH3CH2CH2CH2B(CH3CH2)2 and (CH3CH2)3O3B3. Further, optimized GC conditions are demonstrated to quantify the synthesized triethylboron accurately and determine its purity. The purity of triethylboron is 96.39 % via a normalization method with high accuracy (RSD=0.05 %). The optimized GC conditions were as follows: a hydrogen flame ionization detector, nitrogen as carrier gas whose pathway was installed with a water trap and an oxygen trap, an HP‐5 capillary column (30 m×0.32 mm×0.25 μm) with the column temperature of 60 °C, an inlet temperature of 120 °C, the detector temperature of 150 °C, and an injection volume of 0.6 μL. The Central Asian Orogenic Belt (CAOB) is the largest accretionary orogenic belt in the world and its formation involved a complicated process of arc–continent collision. Large‐scale Mesozoic volcanic activity in the Great Xing'an Range (GXAR) in northeastern China, which constitutes part of the eastern CAOB, has received much recent research attention. However, the petrogenesis and formation mechanism of the late Mesozoic igneous rocks remain enigmatic. This paper investigates the geochronology, petrogenesis, and formation mechanism of late Mesozoic magmatic rocks in the Kelihe area of the GXAR based on zircon U–Pb dating, petrology, and geochemistry. Late Mesozoic magmatism in the Kelihe area occurred during the Late Jurassic (165–155 Ma) and Early Cretaceous (130–120 Ma). These igneous rocks generated by this magmatism are characterized by high SiO2 (69.97–75.49 wt%) and low MgO (0.11–0.68 wt%), Cr (10–30 ppm), Co (0.2–2.6 ppm), and Ni (0.5–1.6 ppm) contents. Trace elements show enrichment in Rb, Th, U, Zr, and K, and depletion in Ba, P, Nb, and Ti. These features indicate that the rocks were derived from partial melting of the crust. Furthermore, the rhyolites have high Na2O (5.02–5.44 wt%) and K2O (3.94–4.88 wt%) contents, similar to those of melts formed by the partial melting of basaltic crust. Combining the present results with the findings of previous studies, it is inferred that the Mesozoic igneous rocks formed in a post‐collisional extensional setting related to lithospheric thinning and asthenospheric upwelling after the closure of the Mongol–Okhotsk Ocean. Comprehensive Summary: A new protocol for the synthesis of 2‐deoxy‐C‐aryl‐glycosides and 2‐deoxy‐C‐alkyl‐glycosides via iridium‐catalyzed directed C—H glycosylation with glycals is reported. The method is amenable for both the C2 C—H glycosylation of indoles and the methyl C—H glycosylation of secondary methyl amines under the control of an N‐linked benzoxazole directing group. Background and Aim: There is debate among the hepatology community regarding the simple non‐invasive scoring systems and histological scores (even it was developed for histological classification) in predicting clinical outcomes in patients with non‐alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). This study aimed to determine whether the presence of simple non‐invasive scoring systems and histological scores could predict all‐cause mortality, liver‐related mortality, and liver disease decompensation (liver failure, cirrhosis, hepatocellular carcinoma, or decompensated liver disease). Methods: The pooled hazard ratio of prognostic factors and incidence rate per 1000 person‐years in patients with NAFLD was calculated and further adjusted by two different models of handling the duplicated data. Results: A total of 19 longitudinal studies were included. Most simple non‐invasive scoring systems (Fibrosis‐4 Score, BARD, and aspartate aminotransferase‐to‐platelet ratio index) and histological scores (NAFLD activity score, Brunt, and "steatosis, activity, and fibrosis") failed in predicting mortality, and only the NAFLD fibrosis score > 0.676 showed prognostic ability to all‐cause mortality (four studies, 7564 patients, 118 352 person‐years followed up, pooled hazard ratio 1.44, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.05–1.96). The incidence rate per 1000 person‐years of all‐cause mortality, liver‐related mortality, cardiovascular‐related mortality, and liver disease decompensation resulted in a pooled incidence rate per 1000 person‐years of 22.65 (14 studies, 95% CI 9.62–53.31), 3.19 (7 studies, 95% CI 1.14–8.93), 6.02 (6 studies, 95% CI 4.69–7.74), and 11.46 (4 studies, 95% CI 5.33–24.63), respectively. Conclusion: Non‐alcoholic fatty liver disease fibrosis score showed promising prognostic value to all‐cause mortality. Wilson's disease is an autosomal recessive inherited disease with congenital copper metabolism disorder, characterized by decreased ceruloplasmin and increased urine copper, which can involve multiple organs. This case was complicated by iron overload, which is of great value in differentiating hereditary hemochromatism. When Wilson's disease presents increased serum iron and liver iron deposition, liver MRI shows black liver image, and liver pathology shows iron deposition in zone 2–3. The Neoarchean charnockite of Yinshan Block has been a hot topic into understanding the Precambrian geology of the North China Craton. Although there is a broad consensus that the charnockite is usually related to granulite‐facies metamorphism, its petrogenesis and tectonics still remain controversial. We present a comparative study of the petrography, geochemistry, and geochronology of charnockite and intermediate–basic granulite in the Jining area along the northern margin of the North China Craton. Inclusions within hypersthene in charnockite are used to identify the peak granulite facies mineral assemblage, with the formation of charnockite being attributed to anatexis of the protolith associated with this granulite‐facies metamorphism. Anatexis occurred mainly during postpeak isothermal decompression, as inferred from the metamorphic evolution and pressure–temperature conditions (granulite and charnockite record peak pressure–temperature conditions of 750°C–1,000°C and 0.8–1.2 GPa and 850°C–975°C and 0.9–1.0 GPa, respectively) derived from analyses of metamorphic minerals using electron probe microanalysis, combined with previous zircon geochronology. Hypersthene in charnockite is interpreted to be a residual or peritectic mineral phase that was present during anatexis, and the charnockite is inferred to have been crystallized from a melt containing abundant residual minerals. Charnockite has similar geochemical characteristics to those of intermediate–basic granulite but differs in several key ways: (a) The charnockite is strongly depleted in the large‐ion lithophile element Cs, the heat‐producing elements U and Th, and the high‐field‐strength elements Nb, Ta, P, and Ti; (b) it is enriched in Sr; and (c) it exhibits both positive and negative Eu anomalies, which are characteristics of granites formed largely by in situ anatexis. Geochemical constraints indicate that the intermediate charnockite and retrograde metamorphic biotite–hornblende gneiss may both be the product of mantle‐derived magma in a magmatic subduction‐related back‐arc extensional environment. This setting provided a hot spot for metamorphic anatexis, with additional heat being provided by the upwelling of asthenospheric mantle. After the cessation of subduction by ~2,470 Ma, a magmatic arc extensional setting developed in the Jining area. The charnockite was involved in Paleoproterozoic orogenesis in the North China Craton and was strongly modified by a ~1,950‐Ma metamorphism event. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract: Background & Aims: Squamous cell carcinoma antigen (SCCA) and its immune complex (SCCA‐IgM) have been proposed for use in the screening of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). We conducted a meta‐analysis to evaluate the diagnostic performance of SCCA and SCCA‐IgM and of both combined with alpha‐foetoprotein. Methods: After a systematic review of the relevant studies, the sensitivity, specificity, positive and negative likelihood ratios, diagnostic odds ratio (DOR) and area under curve (AUC) for the diagnosis of HCC were pooled using bivariate meta‐analysis. Hierarchic summary receiver operating characteristic curves were used to summarize the overall test performance. Bivariate boxplots were used to confirm whether the threshold effect existed. A Fagan nomogram was used to assess the clinical utility. Heterogeneity was explored by sensitivity analysis, univariable meta‐regression and subgroup analysis. Results: Eleven studies that had HCC diagnosis as their purpose were ultimately included in the quantitative analysis. The summary estimates were as follows: SCCA (AUC: 0.80 [95% CI: 0.76‐0.83]) and SCCA‐IgM (AUC: 0.77 [95% CI: 0.74‐0.83]) demonstrated similar diagnostic performance, while a combination of AFP and SCCA‐IgM had an AUC of 0.90 (95% CI: 0.87‐0.92) and a DOR of 22.87 (95% CI: 8.38‐62.40). Meta‐regression showed that patient selection, cut‐off values, reference standards and tumour biopsy as the diagnostic method significantly influenced the heterogeneity of the included studies. Conclusions: Both SCCA and SCCA‐IgM showed a moderate diagnostic accuracy for HCC screening; the combination of SCCA‐IgM and AFP is the best diagnostic option. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Copper‐based metal–organic framework/graphene oxide (MOF‐199/GO) composites were prepared under hydrothermal conditions. The adsorption performances of the composites for CH3SCH3 and CH3CH2SH removal under ambient conditions were evaluated. The materials were characterized by XRD, FTIR spectroscopy, nitrogen adsorption/desorption, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The composites exhibit a unique layered structure. MGO‐1 with 5 % GO shows a higher surface area than that of pristine MOF‐199 owing to the creation of new pores between the MOF‐199 and GO units. MGO‐1 has the best adsorption capacities for CH3SCH3 and CH3CH2SH, and the uptake reaches 6.12 and 4.31 %, respectively, because of the increased surface area and dispersive forces in the new pores. During the adsorption of CH3CH2SH, a chemical reaction results in the destruction of the MOF structure. However, reversible chemisorption was found for CH3SCH3 removal, as testified by fixed‐bed regeneration. With simple analytical arguments, we suggest that the subtropical westerly jets, the equatorial easterly winds, the westerly ducts (i.e. regions of westerly winds over the Equator), and the tropical upper tropospheric troughs, are coupled via potential vorticity (PV) dynamics. We suggest that deep tropical convection leads to advective PV fluxes towards the Poles over the subtropical westerly jets, triggering Rossby waves on the jet, and leading to advective PV fluxes towards the Equator when the Rossby waves break over the westerly ducts. Moreover, we show that the advective PV fluxes towards the Poles closely balance those towards the Equator, and suggest that this close balance is to be expected from the impermeability theorem. We then argue that small imbalances of these advective PV fluxes play an important role in maintaining the upper tropospheric mean flow of the tropical atmosphere. We test our ideas using a shallow‐water model of the atmosphere, where diabatic heating terms are absent, and show how imbalances in the advective PV fluxes of a shallow‐water model maintain its mean flow. Recently, PSEN1 has been reported to have mutations in dilated cardiomyopathy pedigrees. However, the function and mechanism of PSEN1 in cardiomyopathy remains unresolved. Here, we established four types of genetically modified mice to determine the function of PSEN1 in cardiac development and pathology. PSEN1 null mutation resulted in perinatal death, retardation of heart growth, ventricular dilatation, septum defects, and valvular thickening. PSEN1 knockout in adults led to decreased muscle fibers, widened sarcomere Z lines and reduced lengths of sarcomeres in cardiomyocytes. Cardiovascular loss of function of PSEN1 induced by Sm22a-Cre or Myh6-Cre/ER/tamoxifen also resulted in severe ultrastructural abnormalities, such as relaxed gap junctions between neighboring cardiomyocytes. Functionally, cardiovascular deletion of PSEN1 caused spontaneous mortality from birth to adulthood and led to diastolic heart dysfunction, including decreased volume of the left ventricle at the end-systolic and end-diastolic stages. Additionally, in a myocardial ischemia model, deletion of PSEN1 in the cardiovascular system first protected mice by inducing adaptive hypertrophy but ultimately resulted in severe heart failure. Furthermore, a collection of genes was abnormally expressed in the hearts of cardiac-specific PSEN1 knockout mice. They were enriched in cell proliferation, calcium regulation, and so on. Taken together, dynamic regulation and abnormal function of PSEN1 underlie the pathogenesis of cardiovascular diseases due to ultrastructural abnormality of cardiomyocytes. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This work aims to analyze the electrospray ionization multistage mass spectrometry (ESI-MSn) fragmentation characteristics of hydroxycinnamic acids (HCAs) in negative ion mode. The geometric parameters, energies, natural bond orbitals and frontier orbitals of fragments were calculated by density functional theory (DFT) to investigate mass spectral fragmentationmechanisms. The results showed that proton transfer always occurred during fragmentation of HCAs; their quasi-molecular ions ([M - H]-) existed inmore than one form and weremainlywith the lowest energy. The fragmentation characteristics included the followings: (1) according to the different substitution position of phenolic hydroxyl group, the ring contraction reaction by CO elimination from benzene was in an increasingly difficult order: m-phenolic hydroxyl > p-phenolic hydroxyl > o-phenolic hydroxyl; and (2) ortho effect always occurred in o-dihydroxycinnamic acids (o-diHCAs), i.e. one phenolic hydroxyl group offered H+, which combined with the other one to lose H2O. In addition, there was a nucleophilic reaction during ring contraction in diHCAs that oxygen atom attacked the carbon atom binding with the other phenolic hydroxyl to lose CO2. The fragmentation characteristics andmechanismof HCAs could be used for analysis and identification of such compounds quickly and effectively, and as reference for structural analogues by ESI-MS. ABSTRACT The metabolic loading is heavier in liver especially when injured or inflammation. San Huang Shel Shin Tang (SHSST) was an old traditional herbal decoction, which composed with Rheum officinale Baill, Scutellaria baicalnsis Geprgi and Coptis chinensis Franch (1:1:2 in weight), can provide a liver protection effects. We used a beta-cyclodextrin (β-CD) drug modification method in reduce of the necessary dose of the SHSST. As the results, the FAS-FADD expressions leaded apoptosis in CCl4 intraperitoneal (IP) injection induced acute liver injury in rats. Silymarin, baicalein, SHSST, and SHSST β-CD complex (SHSSTc) pretreatments protected liver through the decreasing of the expressions of FAS-FADD and downstream caspase-3 and caspase-8. Particularly, SHSSTc (30 mg/kg day) treatment enhanced cell survival pathway activation through the PI3K, Akt and Bad phosphorylation. Compared with SHSST as well as silymarin and baicalein, SHSSTc provided a magnificent liver protection effect, especially in survival pathway activation/TUNEL-apoptotic cell reduction/serum cholesterol level suppression. ABSTRACT Exposure to tobacco smoke has epidemiologically been linked to the occurrence of cardiovascular disease among nonsmokers but the associated molecular events are not well elucidated yet. When Sprague Dawley rats were exposed to second-hand tobacco cigarette smoke twice a day for a 30 days period at an exposure rate of 10 cigarettes/30 min, they showed adverse effects including reduced left ventricle weight, increased cardiac damages, deteriorated cardiac features, and cardiac fibrosis. Exposure to second-hand smoking (SHS) increased the molecular markers of cardiac fibrosis such as urokinase plasminogen activator and matrix metallopeptidases. The modulations in the protein levels were led by the activation of extracellular signal-regulated kinases (ERK1/2), the transcription factor-specificity protein 1 (SP1), and the fibrogenic master switch-connective for epithelial-mesenchymal transition tissue growth factor there by indicating their effective role in SHS-induced myocardial infraction. Dilong, an edible earthworm extract used in Chinese medicine and its bioactive fibrinolytic enzyme product-lumbrokinase, when administered in rats, restricted the SHS exposure induced cardiac fibrosis and provided cardio-protection. A copper cyanide coordination polymer [Cu8(CN)8(bbtz)2] n ( 1) [bbtz = 1,4-bis(1,2,4-trizal-1-ylmethyl)benzene] was synthesized following a synchronous redox and self-assembly reaction under the solvothermal condition, and characterized by elemental analysis, infrared spectroscopy, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Interestingly, complex 1 exhibits a two-dimensional conjugated pillared double-layer architecture and an unprecedented (3,3,4)-connected network with the point symbol (6.7.10)2(6.72)2(62.73.10) topology. Moreover, the thermogravimetric analysis indicates complex 1 has highly thermal stability, and the solid-state emission spectrum for its crystalline material displays a strong green luminescence band ( λmax = 565 nm) at room temperature. Ketonic/quinonic CO groups on the surface of a carbon matrix are capable of abstracting hydrogen in CH bonds from hydrocarbons and enable them to selectively convert into corresponding unsaturated hydrocarbons; this process is the oxidative dehydrogenation (ODH) reaction. However, a variety of inevitable defects or graphene edges and other oxygen-containing groups on the carbon matrix are detrimental to the selective production of alkenes due to their high activity towards overoxidation. Herein, we show that phosphate can not only impede the total oxidation but also cover the selective CO groups, hence allowing its use as a modulator to defects and oxygen-containing functional groups on the multiwalled carbon nanotubes, regulating the distribution of active sites and related catalytic targets. Blending poly( l-lactic-acid) (PLLA) and thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) has been performed in an effort to toughen PLLA without compromising its biodegradability and biocompatibility. The mixing enthalpy calculation of PLLA and TPU predicted that the blend was a thermodynamic miscible system. The viscoelastic properties and phase morphologies of PLLA/TPU blends were investigated further by dynamic mechanical analysis and scanning electron microscopy. It was found that the blend was a partially miscible system. The dynamic mechanical analysis showed that Tg of PLLA and TPU shifted toward with TPU content increasing. Scanning electron microscopy photos showed that the morphologies of the blends changed from a sea island structure to a bicontinuous structure as an increment in TPU content, which suggested that the miscibility of PLLA and TPU was enhanced when the TPU increased. PLLA/TPU blend fibers were fabricated. With the TPU content increasing from 0 wt% to 30 wt%, the tensile strength and initial modulus of blend fibers decreased first then increased, while elongation at break and fracture work gradually increased. The change of tensile properties indicated the toughening effects of TPU on PLLA fibers, also suggested that the formation of blend fibers was influenced by the blend rheological behavior other than the compatibility. Aquaporin 3 could thus be envisaged as a novel therapeutic target for NSCLC., Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is one of the most common diseases encountered in medical oncology practice. The aim of the present study was to test the antitumour effects of short-hairpin RNA targeting aquaporin 3 (AQP3) in experimental NSCLC. Expression of AQP3 was suppressed in human A549 and H1299 NSCLC cell lines by short-hairpin RNA-mediated silencing. Therapeutic effects were assessed by examining tumorigenicity using a subcutaneous xenograft mouse model of NSCLC. Aquaporin 3 knockdown inhibited tumour growth and prolonged survival of mice with tumours. Aquaporin 3 knockdown suppressed tumour proliferation, marked by enhanced expression of p53, an increased ratio of cleaved caspase 3 to pro-caspase 3 and reduced expression of proliferating cell nuclear antigen and B-cell lymphoma-2 (bcl-2). Aquaporin 3 knockdown inhibited tumour angiogenesis, marked by decreased CD31 immunostaining and reduced expression of hypoxia-inducible factor-2α and vascular endothelial growth factor. Aquaporin 3 knockdown reduced cellular glycerol content and suppressed mitochondrial ATP formation. Aquaporin 3 knockdown in vitro significantly suppressed activities of matrix metalloproteinases MMP2 and MMP9, reduced AKT phosphorylation and decreased cell invasiveness of A549 and H1299 cells. Deuteration has emerged as a significant method for investigating kinetic isotope effects in chemical reactions. In recent years, research on deuteration has revealed that this reaction often alters the pharmacokinetic or toxicological properties of drug molecules, thereby enhancing their therapeutic effect. Therefore, deuteration is considered as a potential avenue for drug research direction. Since the approval of the first deuterated drug, “deutetrabenazine,” by the American Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 2017, deuteration has been applied in the development of a variety of novel drugs. Research on deuteration technology has matured with the publication of numerous deuteration strategies. This article reviews recently reported strategies for late‐stage selective deuteration, discusses the challenges associated with current deuteration strategies, and presents future prospects for the synthesis of deuterated drugs. Summary: This paper investigates the structural performance and seismic capacity of the postmainshock damaged containment structure through the incremental dynamic analysis (IDA). To evaluate the seismic capacity with minimum uncertainty, the damage measure (DM) and intensity measure (IM) for IDA curves are selected in term of the coefficient of variation. The IDA using mainshock records is implemented to examine the seismic damage process of a containment structure and determine key damage states. The static cyclic loading analysis and aftershock IDA are also conducted on mainshock‐damaged containment structures to investigate the effect of initial damage states on the dynamic characteristics of structures. Finally, based on IDA results, limit states of a containment structure are defined using a generalized multidimensional limit‐state function that allows considering the dependence between the mainshock‐damaged level and residual seismic capacity. These proposed bidimensional limit‐state functions can be used in the fragility analysis and risk assessment of containment structures under mainshock–aftershock, which can improve the accuracy of seismic assessment. Inflammation is as an important component of intestinal tumorigenesis. The activation of Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) signalling promotes inflammation in colitis of mice, but the role of TLR4 in intestinal tumorigenesis is not yet clear. About 80%-90% of colorectal tumours contain inactivating mutations in the adenomatous polyposis coli (Apc) tumour suppressor, and intestinal adenoma carcinogenesis in familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP) is also closely related to the germline mutations in Apc. The Apc Min/+ (multiple intestinal neoplasia) model mouse is a well-utilized model of FAP, an inherited form of intestinal cancer. In this study, Apc Min/+ intestinal adenoma mice were generated on TLR4-sufficient and TLR4-deficient backgrounds to investigate the carcinogenic effect of TLR4 in mouse gut by comparing mice survival, peripheral blood cells, bone marrow haematopoietic precursor cells and numbers of polyps in the guts of Apc Min/+ WT and Apc Min/+ TLR4 -/- mice. The results revealed that TLR4 had a critical role in promoting spontaneous intestinal tumorigenesis. Significant differential genes were screened out by the high-throughput RNA-Seq method. After combining these results with KEGG enrichment data, it was determined that TLR4 might promote intestinal tumorigenesis by activating cytokine-cytokine receptor interaction and pathways in cancer signalling pathways. After a series of validation experiments for the concerned genes, it was found that IL6, GM-CSF (CSF2), IL11, CCL3, S100A8 and S100A9 were significantly decreased in gut tumours of Apc Min/+ TLR4 -/- mice compared with Apc Min/+ WT mice. In the functional study of core down-regulation factors, it was found that IL6, GM-CSF, IL11, CCL3 and S100A8/9 increased the viability of colon cancer cell lines and decreased the apoptosis rate of colon cancer cells with irradiation and chemical treatment., (© 2019 The Authors. This review highlights the recent clinical research that supports the therapeutic utility of ketamine as a multifaceted drug. After long-term use as a dissociative anesthetic, it has re-emerged as a useful agent for ameliorating pain, asthmaticus, and depression. In addition, it is also a substance of abuse. Chronic ketamine abuse over prolonged periods (weeks, months, and years) can produce toxicity to the gastrointestinal and urinary tract.
