Using thermochemical codes to predict the properties of detonation products and the parameters for detonation modeling of explosives requires the use of very precise theoretical equations of state (EoS). We share the updates to the thermochemical code CARTE, which allows the calculation of thermodynamic properties and chemical compositions of detonation products over a wide range of temperatures and densities. In this paper, we focus on the theoretical EoS of pure fluids, based on the KLRR perturbation method and EXP‐6 potentials. We propose a maximum likelihood approach to fit the EXP‐6 parameters by matching a combination of shock data and static compression data. By contrast, Brand sutures her transatlantic bricolage of time and space with disruptions and displacements. "Page 46, Line 2 from Below" presents itself as a part of an ongoing African Diasporan world, map and route making. A summoning of navigational instructions along the way. In this text, the navigational directions laid out in Dionne Brand's seminal A Map to the Door of No Return: Notes to Belonging (2001) provide the space for the retelling of an unexpected encounter with name, place and memory. And while moving through the ebbs and flows of various time-spaces--Toronto, Mannheim, Elmina and Traiskirchen, a town close to the Austrian capital Vienna--memories of police violence and Black death, of resistance and imagining and ultimately of belonging wash up on its shores. The two world wars marked the first half of the 20th century, affecting the entire life of Romanian and European society. Aware of the importance of reading as a major element in the modernization of Romanian society, the world of books and libraries underwent a period of development, with the establishment of libraries in villages and towns. In fact, in the first three decades of the last century, libraries were established all over the country. This paper refers to the situation of books and libraries in Mureș County in the period between the two world wars, focusing on the public library of the city of Târgu Mureș, the institution that today bears the name "Mureș County Library". When the library was opened, its collections, consisting exclusively of publications in Hungarian, were made up of donations from institutions and private individuals. As a result of the numerous donations received, in 1918, shortly after the opening of the library, the number of publications reached 11.000 volumes, in 1944 it exceeded 62.000 volumes, and today it has more than 900.000 inventory units and has become a true cultural centre of the community. The attention is also drawn to the personalities who, through their dedication and hard work, have left their mark on the evolution of this institution, the first directors of the library: Molnar Gabor and Aurel Filimon. The article outlines aspects related to the establishment and development of the current library of Mureș County and highlights the efforts of past generations of librarians to preserve and promote the cultural values held by this institution. The modern economic space is characterised by the actualisation of such market structure as an oligopoly, which necessitates its proper theoretical and empirical investigation. The aim of the paper is to analyse the use of game theory in the oligopoly market under the said conditions. The theoretical methods are the main scientific methods used in this study, in particular analysis, synthesis, historical and statistical methods. It was determined that the game theory is one of the most important relatively new mathematical theories applied in developing various types of economic models, including market analysis and companies activity strategy formation. It has been confirmed that the game theory is most often applied to oligopoly market analysis i.e. the market in which two or more big players conduct activities. Their decisions influence both the market in general and other “players”' income and position in the market by influencing the output price or the volume of output (depending on the model). It is stated that there are many ways to apply game theory as the main theory and to explain the future state of the market, incomes, losses, and producers' share in the oligopoly market due to different conditions and variables. This paper has reviewed the use of game theory subject to antitrust restrictions and when oligopolistic companies mutually benefit. It was substantiated that quite often in the models generated by economists, the mutual benefit of companies in an oligopoly market implies the existence of collusion between market participants in which companies benefit more than they would under the condition of competition between them (cartel). The practical value of the paper is in the theoretical substantiation of game theories in markets in general and in providing some practical strategies for companies' operations in markets, which will also be useful for students in their studies and for other scholars of economic disciplines

The present paper is devoted to a brief analysis of recorded idiomatic expressions in three modern Balkan languages: Romanian, Greek and Serbian, containing the lexeme carte / βιβλίο / књига as their keyword. In the history of human society, book has always played a special role which could be described as a role of a so-called knowledge container with strong symbolic meanings - this feature gradually became one of its predominant ones in almost all cultures. Even though these idiomatic constructions do not form a large thematic group - in total the number of all examined examples is 66 - the fact is that the aforementioned lexeme fulfils the role of a linguocultureme in the languages in question. There have been observed two groups of idioms - the first one consists of those whose structure and meaning are absolutely convergent and concordant with the corresponding idiomatic expressions found in other European languages, for example, είμαι κλειστό βιβλίο = бити затворена књига= a fi ca o carte închisă, or nu judeca cartea după coperta sa = να μην κρίνεις ένα βιβλίο από το εξώφυλλό του = не суди о књизи по корицама. The second group is composed of such idiomatic expressions which can be found only in one language, respectively. In other words, they are identified as special units because they remain the property of only one language, they are absolutely individual forms in terms of their meaning, morphological structure, use and expressiveness; e.g. ai carte, ai parte, or a lega cartea de gard. La faune influence son environnement spatial et cet environnement influence en retour l’utilisation de l’espace par la faune. En gestion forestière, il est nécessaire de protéger les parcelles sensibles à la pression des animaux. Notre objectif est de proposer des cartes pertinentes pour la gestion, contenant les déplacements individuels et les espaces utilisés selon les espèces animales, ainsi que leur contexte spatio-temporel. Le cas d’étude concerne deux espèces, le chevreuil et le cerf, dans un site en milieu forestier au nord-est de la France. Les déplacements de plusieurs individus ont été analysés à partir de localisations GPS. Les lieux d’intérêt pour la recherche de nourriture supposés correspondre à des comportements de recherche intensive ont été calculés par la méthode du Temps de Premier Passage. Ces lieux ont ensuite été caractérisés avec les éléments du paysage et des indications de temporalité. Des cartes ont été réalisées afin de visualiser les informations disponibles sur ces lieux d’intérêt, en définissant des symbolisations adaptées. Des cartes ont aussi été réalisées par rapport à l’espace fonctionnel comprenant des parcelles favorables ou évitées issues de la comparaison entre espace parcouru et espace disponible. Ces parcelles sont qualifiées selon un gradient d’intérêt potentiel par espèce animale. Le processus cartographique a été effectué afin d’obtenir des cartes adaptées à l’affichage dans un portail géographique numérique et à la lecture par des utilisateurs impliqués en gestion forestière et en aménagement. This paper is the first of two linked pieces that emerge out of the AHRC-funded Chronotopic Cartographies project for the mapping of place and space in literature. The paper aims to establish the value of a topological approach for the mapping of literary texts. It is centred on Bakhtin's concept of the "chronotope" or "time-space" as the basis for digitally mapping spatial meaning in literary works. It begins by contextualizing our work in relation to the field of literary geography and cartography. It then makes a clear distinction between mapping to the real world using GIS (as is common in fields such as history or geography) and mapping relatively, using topologies, which we argue is essential for the mapping of fictional place and space. The current digital models that are closest to this project concern social network analysis and its adaptation to the mapping of character networks in literary texts. After contextualizing our work in relation to this research, we aim to provide a rationale for the use of topological models in literary mapping. Writing, books and libraries have been around since antiquity, but their millennia-long evolution has seen difficult periods of transition. In the Carpathian-Danubian-Pontic area, archaeological discoveries have uncovered evidence of writing dating back to the Palaeolithic. These include the first cave paintings in Romania, discovered in the Cuciulat Cave (Sălaj County), the Coliboaia Cave (Bihor County) and the Gaura Chindiei Cave (Caraș-Severin County). The typography appeared after long researches and multiple attempts, with the aim of eliminating all the shortcomings encountered by writing throughout its history, each stage in the history of writing entering our country shortly after it made its presence felt at European level. Subsequently, the interest in grouping and preserving these writings arose, and it was in this context that libraries appeared. In Romania, the history of libraries and books was connected both to the socio-cultural situation of the time and to the specific characteristics of this territory, characterized at the same time by a certain openness to Western culture. The fact that contemporary libraries preserve and supply a wide variety of documents indicates that the written text, in whatever form it has appeared throughout history, can endure through these millennia-old cultural institutions. By welcoming the public with unusual, rare collections of documents, these institutions are transforming their traditional role as repositories of information and becoming providers and creators of culture. The invention of the printing press in the 15th century revolutionized the way books were produced, making access to learning possible for anyone. In the 19th century, the library became an essential part of psychiatric institutions. Bibliotherapy is developed, which uses books to help people overcome certain problems. The reality offered by digital technology has opened a new era in the history of reading, fundamentally changing the way we read. The progress in communication technology in the 20th century leads to the emergence of the electronic book, thus information is made available online to the reader in a huge virtual library. Augmented reality is discovered, which manages to combine the two mediums, traditional and online, this being an interactive version of a real-world environment, achieved through digital visual elements, using holographic technology. Thanks to the images that come to life, involving more senses, the reader can reach a better understanding of the content. When access and availability are considered priorities, there is no doubt that electronic books are preferred, even though they cause fatigue and eye irritation. The physical book, on the other hand, is remarkably durable, does not need power or internet, can be edited in several editions, and continues to be valuable. In recent years, the demand for paper copies has become increasingly high, generating more than 150 billion dollars in revenue. Thus we ask ourselves the question regarding the survival of the printed book. The answer is, perhaps, surprising, but in an age of digital saturation, the traditional book has made a spectacular comeback in recent years, remaining, it seems, the preferred reading medium of true bibliomaniacs. For some decades, and more precisely from the mid-20th century, with the advent of technological progress in the field of cartography and with the emergence of human geography, the relationship between literature and geography has aroused a great deal of interest among researchers in the field of humanities and social sciences. Literary cartography is thus transformed into a fascinating interdisciplinary field. In the present descriptive-analytical study, in order to understand how maps and literary texts interact and influence each other and how space and place are perceived in White’s works, first of all, we explain in detail the various links that unite geographers and writers, their point of view, and their own mapping methods elaboration. Then, we try to define the map, the cartographer, and the old cartography map vs. the new cartography. In the following, we will also explain the role of the map in White’s poetry and the poet’s vision of cartography. The last part of the study is dedicated to the approaches of two researchers and pioneers in the field of literary cartography, Franco Moretti and Barbara Piatti, whose projects are both comparative and historical while comparing their points of view with those of Kenneth White. The present study aims to analyze the circuit of reading between the Romanian and German areas in the university Cluj during the inter-war times. Libraries inside the Carpathian arch got a long lasting tradition, with a complex mission, from satisfying the large public needs of reading, to ensure the young generation education, spreading of scientific and technical information, and facilitating the access to the values of the universal culture. A large share of libraries running during the inter-war times, connected to the German cultural and linguistic area, have a history of many decades as having be set in the 19th century. As a city of education, the University of Cluj may be a solid reference point in what concerns the circuits of the exchange of publications. The University library was set at once with the University setting in 1872. A well set prioritizing of acquisition started with the library opening, in order to realize the collections continuity and to satisfy the readers’ interests through books solicitations. Four are the ways to enrich the fond of books and revues: acquisition, donations, respecting of law in what concerns the legal store, and exchange of publications. The Great Union changed the history of that institution of Cluj, by its reorganization according to the Romanian educational laws at the time. The exchange of publications between the two German areas, from the center of Europe and from Romania, went functionally on, based on the aspiration of the Germans living in Romania to stay in contact with their native world, with the linguistic and cultural area they originated from. So, the channels of the publications circuits have been preserved in and from the two cultural areas, for the good of both of them. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Historical maps are a valuable tool in historical research, since they store spatial information reflecting geographic literacy, ideology, and geopolitical concerns at the time of their creation, often not available in other sources. Historical maps are also a fundamental element of cultural heritage and digital humanities applications since they provide, as base maps, the picture of historical space on which other resources are projected and the names of the historical places, which permits the organization and geocoding of various information. Historical maps should be managed following a semantic approach that considers data models and standards from the different disciplines of cultural heritage and Digital humanities. In this spirit, this research extends previous efforts to implement an application profile for documenting historical maps based on the CIDOC model and to develop an annotated database of historical maps. This profile handles the concepts that define a map and the map's relationships with cultural objects, persons, events, and processes. For data creation and visualization, a Web application was developed using Arches, an open software platform for cultural heritage management that supports both CIDOC and geographical information standards. The name of Thomas Baines (1820-1875) is well known in the realms of art and exploration, and his nearly 400 extant oil paintings, watercolors, and sketches form one of the most important contributions of all time to South African art. What is less known is that he was also a competent cartographer who left behind an important legacy of route maps of the inner regions of the then unknown nineteenth-century southern Africa. This facet of his oeuvre has received scant attention in his biographies, and the two articles which deal with his cartographic endeavors, are both limited to discussions of his manuscript maps of the Route of the Gold Fields Expedition to Matabeleland of 1869-1872. This paper attempts to give a more complete account of Baines's cartography and discusses his cartographic work as an integral aspect of his life as a resourceful explorer who mapped parts of the South African landscape with the same dedication he bestowed on his artworks. The National Institut of Geographic and Forest Information (IGN) has developed a new web service, called Minecraft® on Demand (www.ign.fr/mine craft), designed to provide Minecraft® maps from the geographic data that IGN produces and diffuses. This free web service allows the user to select the center of their map and get a Minecraft® world around this place. The player can load this map in Minecraft®, the best-selling video game with 176 million licenses sold worldwide in May 2019. Launched in June 2016 in France, the Minecraft® on Demand service has been a success (51 000 cards downloaded from the beginning until May 2019), especially to a youth audience, allowing them to discover IGN geographic data in their familiar gaming environment. This service was recently used by the Ministry of Social and Territorial Cohesion for a national contest designed to imagine and build by the participants the cities and territories of tomorrow (2050), meeting criteria of sustainable development. The volume New Mythologies, coordinated by Jérȏme Garcin, seems to be a continuation of Roland Barthes' famous work Mythologies (1957), as well as of The 20th Centuries' Mythologies, Pierre Brunel's well known dictionary, printed by the prestigious Paris publishing house Seuil. "Grupul Editorial Art" published the book's Romanian version in Mona Țepeneag's translation, after only two years. In fact, these three volumes come to illustrate the quick manner in which the new profane mythologies are metamorphosed. Les utilisateurs de jeux vidéo en ligne et de mondes virtuels ont parfois des interactions qui ne sont pas instrumentalisées par le dispositif et l’environnement numérique dont ils font l’expérience. Les socialisations qui en résultent sont qualifiées de volontaires. Elles se réalisent notamment lors de rituels en ligne, comme les mariages et les cérémonies funéraires, et lors de manifestations culturelles créées par des utilisateurs. Les cérémonies en ligne ont une dimension rituelle faible, mais elles permettent à un collectif de se retrouver et de partager un moment particulier. Quant aux manifestations culturelles, elles sont souvent des prétextes à la rencontre de nouvelles personnes. L’invitation, l’annonce et la carte sont trois médiateurs qui conditionnent les manières dont un individu s’engage et est engagé dans ces différents types d’événements. Chacun de ces médiateurs permet à un individu d’agir et le fait agir selon un régime spécifique d’engagement. L’invitation et l’annonce sont caractéristiques du régime de l’engagement en plan, puisqu’elles vont capter l’attention de l’individu en amont de l’événement et vont lui permettre d’établir un plan d’action afin de répondre à son désir de socialisation. Une carte qui indique en temps réel la position de chaque avatar connecté au monde permet à un individu d’agir – et elle le fait agir – selon un régime exploratoire, ce dernier pouvant tester chaque opportunité interactionnelle qui s’offre à lui. Même volontaires, les socialisations dans les mondes virtuels dépendent des propriétés du dispositif sociotechnique dans lequel elles se réalisent.

In this article we propose to use a deck of cards as cognitive artefact enabling students 1) to reconstruct a global view of an historical period, and 2) to develop the competences for the analysis of key issues related to history discipline. Cooperative learning allowed students to produce artefacts. We will provide readers with an example of possible implementation. It has been carried out for students of upper secondary education. L’utilizzo delle carte nella didattica della storia Nel presente articolo si intende proporre l’utilizzo di un mazzo di carte – prodotto in gruppo dagli studenti mediante cooperative learning – come artefatto cognitivo per consentire la ricostruzione di una visione globale di un periodo e lo sviluppo della competenza di analisi dei nodi tematici e dei nuclei fondanti della disciplina storica. Si fornirà un esempio di possibile applicazione, realizzato in alcune seconde di una scuola secondaria di secondo grado.
