Atherosclerosis in the peripheral arteries is the most common cause of peripheral arterial disease (PAD), which has not been substantially controlled in the past. We aimed to investigate the association between MAFLD and PAD in the Chinese population.Patients and Methods: This observational study covered 102,115 participants who underwent health checkups with detailed examinations for PAD and MAFLD. PAD was measured by ankle-brachial index, and MAFLD was diagnosed by abdominal ultrasound. The generalized linear mixed models and random-effects Cox proportional hazards models were used to analyze the relationship between MAFLD and PAD.Results: The baseline characteristics showed that patients with MAFLD had higher prevalence of PAD compared with those without MAFLD (2.7% vs 2.2%). Compared to non-MAFLD, the individuals with MAFLD were associated with a higher risk of the presence of PAD (adjusted odds ratio: 1.30, 95% confidence interval (CI): 1.19– 1.42, P < 0.001). In the prospective cohort study, 6833 participants underwent a follow-up of 2.76 (standard deviation: 1.36) years, and MAFLD at baseline was a higher risk of associated with incident PAD (adjusted hazards ratio: 1.67, 95% CI: 1.17– 2.38, P = 0.005). Moreover, with the accumulation of metabolic abnormalities, the risk of the PAD was increased in the individuals with MAFLD. Furthermore, MAFLD attributed risk of PAD was more evident in participants without metabolic comorbidities.Conclusion: MAFLD was associated with a significantly higher risk for the prevalence and incidence of PAD in the Chinese population. The finding suggested that individuals with MAFLD are not only have a higher risk of coronary heart diseases but also have an increased risk of atherosclerosis in peripheral arteries.Keywords: chronic liver disease, metabolic disorder, arteriosclerosis, cross-sectional study, prospective cohort study

The structural and physicochemical properties changes of corn starch oxidized by sodium periodate under the assistance of pulsed electric fields (PEF) were studied. It was found that dialdehyde starch (DAS) particles produced by PEF-assisted oxidation exhibited shrinkage and pits, and had a larger particle size when compared to the control without PEF. The solubility of the DAS (12 kV/cm PEF- assisted oxidation) improved by 70.2% when compared to the native starch. Increment in the strength of the PEF, led to a decrease in the viscosity of the DAS. In addition, the aldehyde group content of the DAS produced by PEF-assisted oxidation exhibited shrinkage and pits, and had a larger particle size when compared to the control increased by 11.6% when compared with the traditional oxidation method. PEF is an effective method to promote oxidation reaction of starch.

6-Shogaol, an active phenolic compound from ginger (Zingiber officinale), can inhibit the growth of a variety of human cancer cells. Nevertheless, its underlying molecular mechanisms in cervical cancer remain unclear. In this study, we systematically examine the inhibitory effect of 6-shogaol on cervical cancer in vitro and in vivo. Cell proliferation was assessed by CCK8 assay and colony formation assay in HeLa and SiHa cells. We analyzed cell cycle and apoptosis through flow cytometry. GFP-LC3 puncta and transmission electron microscopy were used to observe autophagic bodies. Wound-healing assay and transwell assay were used for evaluating the migration of cells. Western blot was applied to detect protein expression levels. 6-Shogaol could suppress cell proliferation and migration, cause cell cycle arrest in the G2/M phase in HeLa and SiHa cells. Moreover, 6-shogaol triggered the apoptosis process through the mitochondrial pathway by downregulating the expression levels of p-PI3K, p-Akt and p-mTOR. Further research indicated that the induction of apoptosis by 6-shogaol was remarkably decreased after the treatment of ROS scavenger and PI3K agonist. Additionally, 6-shogaol increased the number of LC3-positive puncta and autophagic bodies per cell in both HeLa and SiHa cells. Pretreatment of cells with Bafilomycin A1, an autophagy inhibitor, accelerated 6-shogaol mediated cell apoptosis, suggesting that induction of autophagy by 6-shogaol is suppressive to apoptosis. Furthermore, in vivo data revealed that 6-shogaol significantly inhibited tumor growth and cell proliferation in tumor tissues. These findings suggested that 6-shogaol could be developed as a functional food ingredient, which is potentially used as therapeutic agents for patients with cervical cancer.

To translate and cross-culturally adapt the Malocclusion Impact Questionnaire (MIQ) into Chinese and to assess the psychometric properties of the Chinese version of the MIQ (MIQ/C) for use among adolescents with malocclusion in China. First, the MIQ/C was developed according to international guidelines. Then, the MIQ/C was filled out by 536 adolescents between 10 and 16 years of age. This study used exploratory factor analysis (EFA), confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), convergent validity, internal consistency, and test-retest reliability to evaluate the psychometric properties of the MIQ/C. Following EFA, three domains were extracted, accounting for 65.950% of the total variance. The CFA results showed that the fit indices of each factor in the three-factor model all reached the standard (chi-square/DF = 2.591, GFI = 0.919, TLI = 0.926, CFI = 0.928, RMSEA = 0.076). The scale evidenced a good relationship with the two global questions, indicating good convergent validity. The Cronbach alpha value and the intraclass correlation coefficients (ICC) value of the MIQ/C were 0.929 and 0.893, respectively. The MIQ/C demonstrated good reliability and validity and can be further studied and applied in Chinese adolescents with malocclusion. The MIQ/C can be applied to assess the psychosocial impact of malocclusion among Chinese adolescents.

In this paper we present the microscopic origin of the ferromagnetism of Fe0.25TaS2 and its finite-temperature magnetic properties. We first obtain the band structures of Fe0.25TaS2 by the first-principles calculations and find that both conventional and Dirac carriers coexist in metallic Fe0.25TaS2. Accordingly, considering the spin-orbit coupling of Fe 3d ion, we derive an effective RKKY-type Hamiltonian between Fe spins in the presence of both the conventional parabolic-dispersion and the Dirac linear-dispersion carriers, which contains a Heisenberg-like, an Ising-like and an XY-like term. In addition, we obtain the ferromagnetic Curie temperature Tc by using the cluster self-consistent field method. Our results could address not only the high ferromagnetic Curie temperature, but also the large magnetic anisotropy in FexTaS2., Comment: 13 pages, 4 figures

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the third most common cancer in men and the second most common cancer in women worldwide. CRC is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths. Although some progress in the treatment of CRC has been achieved, the molecular mechanism of CRC is still unclear. In this study, alcohol dehydrogenase 1C(ADH1C) was first identified as a target gene closely associated with the development of CRC by the comprehensive application of transcriptomics, proteomics, metabonomics and in silico analysis. The ADH1C mRNA and protein expression in CRC cell lines and tumor tissues was lower than that in normal intestinal epithelial cell lines and healthy tissues. Overexpression of ADH1C inhibited the growth, migration, invasion and colony formation of CRC cell lines and prevented the growth of xenograft tumors in nude mice. The inhibitory effects of ADH1C on CRC cells in vitro were exerted by reducing the expression of PHGDH/PSAT1 and the serine level. This inhibition could be partially reversed by adding serine to the culture medium. These results showed that ADH1C is a potential drug target in CRC.

In this study, a new dinuclear cobalt(II)–radical complex [Co2(3,5-DBSQ)4(bpym)]·(3,5-DBCatH2)4 (1) (3,5-DBSQ = 3,5-di-tert-butylsemiquinone, 3,5-DBCatH2 = 3,5-di-tert-butylcatecholato, bpym = 2,2′-bipyrimidine) was synthesized and characterized using single-crystal X-ray crystallography. Simulated results indicated relatively strong antiferromagnetic exchange coupling between cobalt(II) centers and semiquinone radical ligands.

In this study, the homopolymerization of 2,2‐dimethyltrimethylene carbonate (DTC) and its copolymerizations with e‐caprolactone (CL) were carried out in detail using the isothiourea‐based Lewis pairs comprised 2,3,6,7‐tetrahydro‐5H‐thiazolo(3,2‐a)pyrimidine and magnesium halides (MgX₂) with benzyl alcohol (BnOH) as the initiator. The copolymerization of DTC and CL via one‐pot addition produced randomly sequenced copolymers. On the other hand, a well‐defined linear poly(e‐caprolactone)–block–poly(2,2‐dimethyltrimethylene carbonate) (PCL‐b‐PDTC) diblock copolymer was prepared by simple sequential ring‐opening polymerization of CL and DTC. In addition, poly(ω‐pentadecalactone)–block–PDTC diblock copolymer was successfully prepared by the same strategy. Moreover, PDTC–poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG)–PDTC triblock copolymer was synthesized in the presence of PEG 2000. The effects of different polymerization conditions on the polymerization reactions have been systematically discussed. The resulting polymers were characterized by the ¹H and ¹³C NMR spectra, gel permeation chromatography (GPC), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), and matrix‐assisted laser desorption/ionization time‐of‐flight mass spectrometry (MALDI‐ToF MS). The block copolyester structures were confirmed by the ¹³C NMR spectroscopy and DSC characterizations. These results indicated that the supposed mechanism was a dual catalytic mechanism. The proposed mechanism involved activation of the monomer via coordination to the MgX₂, and the initiator alcohol was deprotonated by base. © 2019 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. This study investigated 354 herbal extracts prepared from 115 herbs via 4 extraction methods. The extracts' antibacterial activities against Streptococcus agalactiae were sequentially evaluated in vitro by two methods: (1) microplate assay and (2) agar well diffusion. Then the herbal extracts with high antibacterial activity in vitro were mixed into feed at 100 mg/g (dry herb/dry feed, w: w) and fed to fishes with S. agalactiae infection for in vivo evaluation of their therapeutic efficacy. Subsequently, the EC50 values (the concentrations result in the relative percent survival (RPS) of 50%) of the three herbal extracts with the highest therapeutic efficacies were calculated according to fit equations. Finally, phytochemical analyses of the herbs with the highest therapeutic efficacies were conducted using ultra performance liquid chromatography-Q Exactive Orbitrap-Mass spectrometry (UPLC-QE-MS). The results showed the following: in detections from the microplate assay method, 62 of the 354 candidate herbal extracts had antibacterial activity with inhibition ratios above 5%; in detections from the agar well diffusion method, 29 of the 62 the candidate herbal extracts showed clear inhibition zones and 33 showed semi-clear inhibition zones. Aristolochia debilis (fruit), Lonicera japonica (flower), Spatholobus suberectus (stem), and Arecae Semen (fruit) extracts prepared by 3 h of maceration at 50 °C had RPSs of 100.0%, 55.6%, 75.0%, and 33.3%, respectively; Panax ginseng (leaf), Rheum palmatum L. (root), and Semen Alpiniae (seed) extracts prepared by 72 h of maceration at room temperature had RPSs of 77.8%, 25.0%, and 12.5%, respectively; and Radix Isatidis (root) extract prepared by 30 min of ultrasonic-extraction at room temperature had an RPS of 62.5%. A. debilis, P. ginseng, and S. suberectus extracts had EC50s of 44.03, 41.19, 39.54 mg/g, respectively. Phytochemical analyses of A. debilis, P. ginseng, and S. suberectus extracts using UPLC-QE-MS produced the following results: the negative model detected 270, 623, and 326 peaks and identified 54, 70, and 52 compounds, respectively; the positive model detected 446, 1401, and 400 peaks and identified 61, 107, and 44 compounds, respectively. Taken together, these results indicate that the extracts of A. debilis, P. ginseng, and S. suberectus could prove useful for the treatment of S. agalactiae infection in Nile tilapia and suggest that appropriate bioactive compounds from these three herbal extracts may be developed as alternates to antibiotics.

PURPOSE：This study was aimed to investigate the effect of malocclusion on self-esteem of children aging 8 to 10 years in Chongqing. METHODS：According to the standards of the Fourth National Oral Health Epidemiological sampling survey，a multistage, stratified, cluster, and random sampling method was used to select 1 588 children from 12 schools in 3 districts and 3 counties in Chongqing. The part of tooth health of the Index of Orthodontic Treatment Need (IOTN) was used to evaluate malocclusion. The aesthetic part of the IOTN was used to evaluate the subjective orthodontic treatment need. The Harter's Self-perception Profile for Children was used to evaluate the self-esteem. The data were analyzed with SPSS 20.0 software package. RESULTS: Subjective orthodontic treatment need IOTN-AC(moderate severe), overjet (severe: 6-9 mm,9 mm), anterior crossbite, open bite, caries located in the anterior tooth area were negatively correlated with self-esteem(P0.05). CONCLUSIONS： Subjective orthodontic treatment need and malocclusion, especially the types that have great influence on beauty obviously affect children's self-esteem. It is necessary to increase the investment and education of early orthodontic intervention.

In order to ensure good performance and long-term reliability of fan-out package, the interfacial strength of Underfill (UF) and polymer (PM) lamination plays an important role because of physical strength and electrical requirement. Accordingly, the present study presents a combined experimental and finite element modeling approach for quantitatively determining the interfacial adhesive strength of UF-PM structures. In the proposed approach, four points bending (FPB) testing is used to evaluate the adhesion strength between UF-PM. The test results are used to determine the critical strain energy release rate ( $G_{c}$ ) at the UF-PM interface. The experimental results are then taken as a reference for finite element (FE) simulations. The virtual crack closure technique (VCCT) in FE model is introduced here for risk assessment such as delamination or crack risk at the interface of UF-PM. In general, the results confirm that the proposed predictive modeling approach provides an effective means of evaluating the delamination risk in UF-PM systems. As such, it provides a convenient and cost-effective method for evaluating the new material interface of UF-PM.

Background The purpose of the study was to investigate whether dynamic monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1) level might be as predictors of perceived pain during the first and second phacoemulsification eye surgeries in patients with bilateral cataract. Methods Consecutive bilateral cataract patients undergoing bilateral sequential phacoemulsification were retrospectively enrolled. Patients’ preoperative anxiety score and intraoperative pain score were registered. Aqueous humor samples were obtained during surgery. MCP-1 level in the aqueous humor was measured by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (Elisa). Patients were assigned to seven subgroups based on the interval between first-eye and second-eye cataract surgery. Comparisons were performed for a subjective sensation and MCP-1 levels among different subgroups. Results pain score during second-eye surgery was significantly higher than during first-eye surgery. Whereas there was no statistical difference in anxiety score between both surgeries. Result from subgroups comparison showed that the visual analog scale (VAS) pain score was statistically greater in 1-group and 6-group during the second eye surgery. Anxiety score did not statistically differ in subgroups. Additionally, the second-eye MCP-1 level was significantly higher at week 1and 6 intervals. Preoperative MCP-1 level was positively correlated with perceiving pain score during both surgeries. Conclusions MCP-1 level in aqueous humor significantly correlated with perceived pain during cataract surgery. Dynamic MCP-1 level could function as predictors of perceived pain during the first and second phacoemulsification eye surgeries in patients with bilateral cataract, which might support clinicians in treatment optimization and clinical decision-making.

Objective: To compare the clinical effect of the self-made wire-rope button plate and cortical screw in the treatment of the distal tibiofibular syndesmosis separation. Methods: Total 26 patients with distal tibiofibular syndesmosis separation were treated with internal fixation with a self-made wire-rope button plate and cortical screw. They were divided into a self-made wire-rope button plate group and cortical screw group. self-made wire-rope button plate group: 12 cases of inferior tibiofibular syndesmosis were reconstructed by self-made wire-rope button plate. Cortical screw group: 14 cases of inferior tibiofibular syndesmosis were reconstructed by cortical screw. The follow-up data of 2, 6, 12 weeks and 6 and 12 months after operation were collected. Results: There was no significant difference in operative time, the amount of intraoperative bleeding and postoperative complications between the two groups (P > 0.05). Comparison of postoperative complications: There was no loosening and rupturing of internal fixation in the self-made wire-rope button plate group. In the cortical screw group, the rupture of screws was found in 1 case, which occurred in the 10th weeks after the operation, and the broken screws were removed after 1 year with other internal fixations. Within 12 weeks of reoperation to remove the internal fixation rate: There was a significant difference in the rate of reoperation to remove the internal fixation within 12 weeks (p < 0.05). At the last follow-up, the AOFAS score of the ankle joint were 94 ± 4.79 in the self-made wire-rope button plate group and 92.8 ± 6.73 in the cortical screw group. There was no significant difference (P > 0. 05). Conclusion: The self-made wire-rope button plate and cortical screw can effectively treat the separation of the tibiofibular syndesmosis. It provides a new choice for the treatment of inferior tibiofibular syndesmosis.

Although lots of work has reported the structural variations of starch in microwave treatment, most of them are detected in the environment with non-constant microwave power and inhomogeneous heating, and the results are always in poor repeatability. In this study, the equipment with constant microwave power (CPM) and homogeneous heating was designed. And the phase transition of multi-scale structure of rice starch (30% moisture content) caused by CPM treatments with two heating modes, namely rapid microwave heating (RWH) and slow microwave heating (SWH) were investigated systematically. SEM results showed that the surface of starch granules after CPM treatment were rough and broken, and the damage caused by RWH was more distinct than that by SWH. SAXS, XRD and 13C NMR results revealed that the CPM treatment decreased the degree of crystallinity and content of double helices of starch. Moreover, the influence of RWH on the variation of starch granules was greater than that of SWH, which can be attributed to the intensive friction and collision as well as the rapid evaporation of water in RWH treatment. Specifically, it exhibited greater destruction on the linkage of starch and the internal crystalline region in RWH treatment than SWH treatment, thereby resulting in more obvious damages on the lamellar and morphological structure of rice starch. In conclusion, CPM equipment has improved the problems of uneven heating and poor experimental repeatability. After CPM treated starch, the molecular structure of starch was destroyed, which provides a useful method to modify properties of starch.

Underfill (UF) polymer (PM) structures are becoming increasingly popular in fan-out packages because they exhibit several advantages, such as protection from mechanical stress and package- to-system electrical and thermal conductivity. The laminate integrity of UF-PM interfaces plays a crucial role in determining fan-out package performance and long-term reliability. In this study, we presented a fracture-mechanics-based experimental method and finite element method to quantitatively determine the interfacial adhesive performance of UF PMs. The adhesion in the UF-PM interface was experimentally characterized using the four-point bending (4PB) test. Unlike the stud-pull test, which is widely used in industry, fracture toughness can be characterized using the (4PB) test, which is effective in determining not only the interfacial strength but also the critical strain energy release rate (Gc). Furthermore, an underfill polymer structure design was simulated based on the fracture modeling methodology in which the virtual crack closure technique (also known as virtual crack closure integral) was applied to estimate strain energy release rate (G) at a specific UF-PM interface. This result revealed that the proposed predictive modeling approach could successfully evaluate the risk of delamination. Crucially, these techniques can be applied to rapidly evaluate new UF and polymer material selection strategies and to examine the effect of process modification on adhesive performance in various environments.

This study was aimed to investigate the mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) phenotypes of immortalized odontoblasts(iODs) and bone morphogenetic protein -2, -4, -6, -7, and -9 (BMPs) differentially regulate the mineralization of iODs.ODs were immortalized by SV40 T antigen to establish iOD lineages, and the endogenous expression of BMPs was successively examined. Recombinant adenoviruses expressing BMPs and GFP were generated using Ad-Easy technology. The proliferation capability of iODs was examined using an MTT kit. MSC markers of iODs were examined by immunofluorescence. In vitro, semiquantitative RT-PCR, alkaline phosphatase(ALP) activity assay, matrix mineralization assay and oil red O staining assay were used to examine the osteogenic and adipogenic differentiation capabilities of iODs. Statistical significance among groups was analyzed by one-way analysis of variance and Scheffe's multiple comparison test was SPSS 21.0 software package. Finally, the volume and density of ectopic mineralized tissues formed in vivo were assessed by micro-CT and histological analysis.ODs can be efficiently immortalized by SV40 T antigen, and the resulting iODs maintained an excellent proliferative activity, expressed certain MSC markers and possessed multiple differentiation capabilities. BMP-2 and BMP-9 regulated iODs osteogenic differentiation better than BMP-4, -6, and -7.Our findings suggest that ODs and osteogenic growth factors such as BMP-2 and BMP-9 can be used as an efficacious strategy for bone tissue engineering.

To evaluate the reliability and validity of the Dundee Ready Educational Environment Measure (DREEM) among Chinese dental students.Students' perceptions of the educational environment were evaluated using the Chinese version of the 50-item DREEM. When they accomplished the questionnaires, the collected data were analyzed to evaluate the reliability and validity of the scale. Reliability was analyzed by internal consistency and split half reliability, and validity was analyzed by exploratory factor analysis and convergent validity. The data were analyzed by reliability and validity test using SPSS 22.0 software package.A total of 260 dental students were enrolled in this study. All the DREEM questionnaires were completely filled out. The Cronbach's α, split-half reliability of the scale was 0.936, 0.816. By factor analysis of construct validity, the 50 items were classified into 5 domains, the cumulative proportion was 47.071%. The scale had certain logical relation between the items in the same domains. The Spearman's rank correlation coefficient of the scale was between 0.447 and 0.556.With satisfactory psychometric properties, DREEM is suitable for assessing educational environments among Chinese dental students.

Fan-out wafer level package (FOWLP) is a disruptive technology in the semiconductor packaging industry. Demand for higher system performance has caused an increase in both package size and the complexity of heterogeneous integration. Large warpage, which arises from significant volume changes in molded underfill (MUF) during the curing and subsequent assembly processes, is a top process and reliability issue.The selection of molding material is critical importance in FOWLP, as the material must meet multiple manufacturing requirements. In this study, an integrated modeling approach is used to predict fan out wafer form warpage. This approach considers both chemical shrinkage and cure dependency of molded underfill. Viscoelastic relaxation behavior over the course of compression molding cured (namely CMC) and post molding cured (namely PMC) has been carefully modeled. Measurements of material properties used in our models were characterized through differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA). The result of our integrated modeling approach was validated by comparing actual warpage data of various temperature loading conditions. Predicted warpage values are in good agreement with in-line experimental data.Furthermore, we apply this methodology to study the wafer fan-out ratio and Cu density effect. It is shown that Cu density effect is not sensitive, and higher wafer fan-out ratio induces larger warpage due to more molding volume.

PtxFe/C/N-GC electrocatalysts were prepared using a composite of Hofmann-like Pt/Fe-based metal–organic frameworks and two-dimensional oxidized graphene. The PtxFe/C/N-GC-700 composite (annealed at 700 °C) exhibited an enhanced mass activity in the electrocatalytic methanol oxidation reaction, which was ten times higher than that of commercial Pt/C (20%) catalysts.

The synthesis, single-crystal structures and magnetic properties of three new cyano-bridged complexes [FeIII4MII2] (M = FeII, CoII, NiII) are reported. Electronic absorption spectroscopy reveals the occurrence of intervalence charge transfer for [FeIII4FeII2]. Field-induced slow magnetic relaxation behavior is exhibited for [FeIII4CoII2] and [FeIII4NiII2] which originates from the ferromagnetic interactions between FeIII and MII spin centers of the square.

Fibroblast growth factors (FGFs) belong to a large family comprising 22 FGF polypeptides that are widely expressed in tissues. Most of the FGFs can be secreted and involved in the regulation of skeletal muscle function and structure. However, the role of fasting on FGF expression pattern in skeletal muscles remains unknown. In this study, we combined bioinformatics analysis and in vivo studies to explore the effect of 24-h fasting on the expression of Fgfs in slow-twitch soleus and fast-twitch tibialis anterior (TA) muscle from male and female C57BL/6 mice. We found that fasting significantly affected the expression of many Fgfs in mouse skeletal muscle. Furthermore, skeletal muscle fibre type and sex also influenced Fgf expression and response to fasting. We observed that in both male and female mice fasting reduced Fgf6 and Fgf11 in the TA muscle rather than the soleus. Moreover, fasting reduced Fgf8 expression in the soleus and TA muscles in female mice rather than in male mice. Fasting also increased Fgf21 expression in female soleus muscle and female and male plasma. Fasting reduced Fgf2 and Fgf18 expression levels without fibre-type and sex-dependent effects in mice. We further found that fasting decreased the expression of an FGF activation marker gene—Flrt2 in the TA muscle but not in the soleus muscle in both male and female mice. This study revealed the expression profile of Fgfs in different skeletal muscle fibre types and different sexes and provides clues to the interaction between the skeletal muscle and other organs, which deserves future investigations.

Objective: To investigate the prevalence of human papillomavirus (HPV) in archival head and neck cancer (HNC) collected from the Tong-Liao area, which is located in east Inner Mongolia, China. Methods: The presence of HPV in 54 HNCs and 25 benign biopsies was detected and the sequence variation of the E6 gene in HPV-positive samples was analyzed to determine their lineage/sublineage classification. Results: HPV was detected in only 4 out of 54 HNCs and no benign biopsies were found to be HPV-positive. After further p16INK4a immunostaining, only 3 cases of HNC were positive for both HPV and p16INK4a. Phylogenetic analysis of the isolated E6 gene shows that the HPV 16, HPV 31, and HPV 58 isolated in this study belong to lineage A. Conclusions: The prevalence of HPV in HNC from this area is very low. The lineage/sublineage classification of the 3 HPV types in HNC in this area is consistent with the previous reported data of HPV lineage distribution in cervical cancer within China.
