Smart materials with responsiveness to external stimuli or physiological conditions have further enhanced drug delivery precision. Personalized medicine approaches are gaining traction, tailoring drug delivery systems to individual patient profiles and needs. The horizon for materials-based drug delivery is bright. Ongoing research is focused on refining material design, streamlining production processes, and ensuring safety profiles. Collaborative efforts among researchers, clinicians, and industry stakeholders are crucial for translating these advancements into clinical practice. Additionally, the convergence of drug delivery with diagnostics and imaging holds immense potential for personalized and efficient healthcare solutions. As materials-based drug delivery continues to evolve, it stands poised to reshape the landscape of pharmaceuticals, offering the promise of more effective and patient-centered therapies for a wide range of medical conditions.

Cayratia trifolia is used as diuretic, in tumors, neuralgia and splenopathy. However, compounds depicting anti-ovarian cancer activities from this plant source have not yet been identified and structurally characterized till date. In the present study, X-ray structure of epifriedelanol, a bioactive compound, isolated from the ethanolic extract of the C. trifolia and its binding affinities against a few proteins (HER2, EGFR and CXCR4) that are reported to get overexpressed under ovarian cancer had been thoroughly studied by using molecular docking means. Binding affinities of the compound vis-à-vis that of carboplatin, a FDA approved drug to the ovarian cancer, to interact with the protein targets are quite impressive. The drug-likeness properties of the epifriedelanol and scope to develop the compound as a potent anti-ovarian cancer drug are discussed in this paper.

Objectives: To evaluate the potential inhibitors aginst CXCR4 from hexane extract of Euclea crispa (E. crispa) leaves. Methods: The natural compounds were identified and charecterized through GC-MS Analysis. Molecular docking studies carried out to investigatethe inhibitory activity angainst CXCR4. Absorption, Distribution, Metabolism, and Excretion (ADME) properties also were predicted to find pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of compounds. Results: The molecular docking simulations revealed that, Benzoic acid 3-methyl-4-(1,3,3,3-tetrafluoro-2-methoxycarbonyl-propenylsulfanyl)- phenyl ester (SCHEMBL15979821), Hydrocortisone Acetate and Phenyl Glucuronide possess good inhibitory activites (Glide Score of -7.06, -6.97, -6.47 and Glide Energy of -43.22, -48.27 and -32.80 kcal/mol respectively) when compared with standard FDA approved drug and other compounds. All the screened compounds were within the acceptable and permissible limits of ADME properties. Conclusion: Thus, from this study it can be concluded that, these screened natural compounds from E. crispa leaves may serve as potential inhibitors for CXCR4 and they might lead to development of new therapeutic agents against cancer and its associated complications. Alzheimer's disease (AD) stands as a formidable challenge in modern medicine, characterized by progressive neurodegeneration, cognitive decline, and memory impairment. Despite extensive research, effective therapeutic strategies remain elusive. The antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and neuroprotective properties of curcumin, found in turmeric, have demonstrated promise. The poor bioavailability and rapid systemic clearance of this drug limit its clinical application. This comprehensive review explores the potential of curcumin-loaded polymeric nanomaterials as an innovative therapeutic avenue for AD. It delves into the preparation and characteristics of diverse polymeric nanomaterial platforms, including liposomes, micelles, dendrimers, and polymeric nanoparticles. Emphasis is placed on how these platforms enhance curcumin's bioavailability and enable targeted delivery to the brain, addressing critical challenges in AD treatment. Mechanistic insights reveal how these nanomaterials modulate key AD pathological processes, including amyloid-beta aggregation, tau phosphorylation, oxidative stress, and neuroinflammation. The review also highlighted the preclinical studies demonstrate reduced amyloid-beta plaques and neuroinflammation, alongside improved cognitive function, while clinical trials show promise in enhancing curcumin's bioavailability and efficacy in AD. Additionally, it addresses the challenges of clinical translation, such as regulatory issues, large-scale production, and long-term stability. Biopolymers like starch, a renewable and widely available resource, are increasingly being used to fabricate the films for eco-friendly packaging solutions. Starch-based edible films offer significant advantages for food packaging, including biodegradability and the ability to extend shelf life. However, they also present challenges such as moisture sensitivity and limited barrier properties compared to synthetic materials. These limitations can be mitigated by incorporating bioactive components, such as antimicrobial agents or antioxidants, which enhance the film's resistance to moisture and improve its barrier properties, making it a more viable option for food packaging. This review explores the emerging field of starch-based sustainable edible films enhanced with bioactive components for food packaging applications. It delves into fabrication techniques, structural properties, and functional attributes, highlighting the potential of these innovative films to reduce environmental impact and preserve food quality. Natural remedies from medicinal plants are known to be effective and reliable appropriate medicine for illnesses. The current research examined Plectranthus amboinicus' anti diabetic property by docking the bioactive compounds of certain target proteins. We document the molecular docking analysis of bioactive compounds from Plectranthus amboinicus with protein Glucokinase. Molecular docking experiments were carried out in PyRx software. Results of these docking experiments showed that most of the compounds showed very strong interaction with the target protein Glucokinase. It is of interest to report the chemotherapeutic (drug target based) potential of n-hexane Cayratia trifolia L. (C.trifolia) extract on A2780 cell lines. mRNA and protein expression analysis of the human chemokine receptor (CXCR4) and human epidermal growth factor receptors-2 (HER2) were studied using RT-PCR analysis and western blot analysis. It is of interest to document the inhibition of A2780 cell proliferation using Mollugo nudicaulis Lam.( M.nudicaulis ) extract by MTT assay and by monitoring the CXCR4 and HER2 expression through RT-PCR analysis. Results shown that the n-hexane extract of M.nudicaulis have anticancer activity IC 50 values of 32.46±0.92 µg/mL on A2780 cell lines. It is further found that the CXCR4 and HER2 mRNA and protein expression were significantly reduced in M.nudicaulis treated A2780 cell lines. Ovarian cancer (OC) accounts for the highest tumor-related mortality among the gynecologic malignancies. Most of the OC patients diagnosed with advanced-stage (III and IV) this situation creates panic and provokes an emergency to discover a new therapeutic strategy. Plants that possess medicinal properties are gaining attention as they are enriched with various chemical compounds that are potential to treat various diseases. It is a prolonged process to provide innovative and significant leads against a range of pharmacological targets for a human disease management system. It is of interest to analyze the antioxidant, antimicrobial and cytotoxicity activity of n-hexane extract of Cayratia trifolia L. (C. trifolia). The antimicrobial activity of n-hexane extract of C. trifolia was determined using disc diffusion method against six selected pathogenic microorganisms. The cytotoxicity potential of n-hexane plant extract was also studied against A2780 cell lines by 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyl tetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay. Results, n-hexane extract of C. trifolia possess significant antioxidant activity with significant IC50 values in radical scavenging assays. In antimicrobial studies, the maximum zone of inhibition was found in the range of 19.0 ± 0.1 to 22.0 ± 0.1 mm. In MTT assay, inhibition of cell growth with minimal IC50 values of 46.25±0.42μg/mL against A2780 cell lines was observed. Background: Overexpression of human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) plays an important role in the development and progression in a variety of cancers and it is a novel therapeutic target for breast cancer and ovarian cancer. Euclea crispa ( E. crispa ) is a South African medicinal plant in the family Ebenaceae used in the management of different human diseases and disorders., Aims: The aim of this study was to evaluate the potential inhibitors against HER2 from hexane extract of E. crispa leaves., Materials and Methods: Chemical fingerprinting method was used to identify the presence of natural compounds from the extract whereas their inhibitory activities were analyzed by molecular docking analysis against HER2. Absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion (ADME) properties also predicted to establish the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics profiles of the selected compounds., Results: The molecular docking analysis expressed that phenyl glucuronide, hydrocortisone acetate, and 6-(4,6-dioxo-1,4,5,6-tetrahydropyrimidin-2-yl-amino)hexanoic acid trifluoroacetate possess good inhibitory activities with good glide score of -6.63, -5.41, and -5.40 and glide energy of -35.03, -42.51, and -31.38 kcal/mol, respectively when compared with standard Food and Drug Administration-approved drug and other compounds.
