High-order diffraction (HOD) from optical microstructures is undesirable in many applications because of the accompanying ghosting patterns and loss of efficiency. In contrast to suppressing HOD with subwavelength structures that challenge the fabrication of large-scale devices, managing HOD is less developed due to the lack of an efficient method for independently manipulating HOD. Here, we report independent manipulation of HODs, which are unexploited for subdiffraction-limit focusing in diffractive lenses, through an analytical formula that correlates the diffraction order and the width of each zone. The large spatial frequencies offered by the HODs enable our lenses to reduce the lateral focal size down to 0.44 λ even without any subwavelength feature (indispensable in most high-NA diffractive lenses), facilitating large-scale manufacture. Experimentally, we demonstrate high-order lens-based confocal imaging with a center-to-center dry resolution of 190 nm, the highest among visible-light confocal microscopies, and laser-ablation lithography with achieved direct-writing resolution of 400 nm (0.385 λ). Chrysosplenium sinicum, a traditional Tibetan medicinal plant, can successfully thrive in low-light environments for long periods of time. To investigate the adaptive evolution of shade plants in low-light environments, we generated a chromosome-scale genome assembly (~320 Mb) for C. sinicum by combining PacBio sequencing and Hi-C technologies. Based on our results, gene families related to photosynthesis and cell respiration greatly expanded and evolved in C. sinicum genome due to intracellular DNA transfer from organelle genome to nuclear genome. Under positive selective pressure, adaptive evolution of light-harvesting complex II (LHCII) component protein CsLhcb1s resulted in the expansion of threonine residues at the phosphorylation site of STN7 kinase, potentially establishing a crucial genomic foundation for enhancing C. sinicum's adaptability in low-light environments. Through transcriptome and metabolome analysis, we identified chrysosplenol and chrysosplenoside as predominant flavonoid metabolites of C. sinicum and predicted their synthesis pathways. In addition, analysis of alternative splicing (AS) revealed that AS events help regulate state transition and flavonoid biosynthesis. The present study provides new insights into the genomes of shade plants exposed to low-light conditions and adaptive evolution of these genomes; in addition, the results improve our current knowledge on the biosynthetic and regulatory processes of chrysosplenol and chrysosplenoside. Highlights: The review provides a comprehensive summary of performance limits of the single two-dimensional transition metal dichalcogenide (2D-TMD) transistor. The review details the two logical expressions of the single 2D-TMD logic transistor, including current and voltage. The review demonstrates the two calculating methods for dynamic energy consumption of 2D synaptic devices. Two-dimensional (2D) transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) allow for atomic-scale manipulation, challenging the conventional limitations of semiconductor materials. This capability may overcome the short-channel effect, sparking significant advancements in electronic devices that utilize 2D TMDs. Exploring the dimension and performance limits of transistors based on 2D TMDs has gained substantial importance. This review provides a comprehensive investigation into these limits of the single 2D-TMD transistor. It delves into the impacts of miniaturization, including the reduction of channel length, gate length, source/drain contact length, and dielectric thickness on transistor operation and performance. In addition, this review provides a detailed analysis of performance parameters such as source/drain contact resistance, subthreshold swing, hysteresis loop, carrier mobility, on/off ratio, and the development of p-type and single logic transistors. This review details the two logical expressions of the single 2D-TMD logic transistor, including current and voltage. It also emphasizes the role of 2D TMD-based transistors as memory devices, focusing on enhancing memory operation speed, endurance, data retention, and extinction ratio, as well as reducing energy consumption in memory devices functioning as artificial synapses. The serum uric acid to serum creatinine ratio (SUA/sCr) is a standardized index of renal function. More importance was attached to the significance of this ratio in the progression of hypertension. While the association between the prognosis of hypertension and SUA/sCr is unknown. Therefore, we aimed to prospectively examine the associations of serum uric acid to serum creatinine ratio and all-cause and CVD mortality in adults with hypertension. Participants with hypertension from NHANES 1999–2018 (n = 15,269) were included. They were stratified by 1 increment of SUA/sCr ratio and categorized into 6 groups as ≤ 4, > 4 to 5, > 5 to 6, > 6 to 7, > 7 to 8, and > 8. The reason for categorization in 6 groups was to analyze the influence of different ratios on outcomes accurately and provide more precise guidance. The sample size is large enough that even if divided into 6 groups, it does not affect the statistical power. The primary outcomes were all-cause and CVD mortality. Weighted multivariable Cox proportional hazards regression models were used to estimate hazard ratio (HRs) of mortality. Restricted cubic spline regression models were utilized to examine dose–response associations between the serum uric acid to serum creatinine ratio and all-cause and CVD mortality. Relatively comprehensive stratified analyses were conducted to confirm the accuracy and stability of the results. There were 15,269 total participants, 49.4% of whom were men, with an average age of 56.6 years. Weighted multivariable Cox proportional hazards regression models demonstrated participants in the lowest group (≤ 4) had the HRs (95% CIs) of 1.43 (1.18, 1.73) for all-cause mortality and 2.8 (1.92, 4.10) for CVD mortality when compared to the reference group. Participants in the highest group (> 8) had the HRs (95% CIs) of 0.47 (0.25, 0.89) for CVD mortality when compared to the reference group. There were progressively lower risks for all-cause and CVD mortality with the SUA/sCr ratio increased (both P trend < 0.01). The SUA/sCr ratio was (P for nonlinearity < 0.01) nonlinearly correlated with all-cause mortality, with inflection points of 6.25. In addition, the restricted cubic splines results indicated that the SUA/sCr ratio (P for nonlinearity = 0.32) showed linear and negative associations with cardiovascular mortality with inflection points of 6.54. The inverse associations between SUA/sCr ratio and all-cause mortality were consistent across all subgroups except for the subgroup of eGFR < 45 ml/min/1.73 m2 and never smokers (P trend = 0.20 and 0.13, respectively), and the inverse associations between low SUA/sCr ratio and CVD mortality were consistent across all subgroups (P trend < 0.01). Elliptical ultrasonic vibration-assisted milling (EUVAM) introduces ultrasonic frequency vibration into conventional milling (CM) to achieve high-frequency intermittent milling. It has broad application prospects in processing difficult-to-cut materials such as titanium alloys, superalloys, carbon fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP), and hard and brittle materials. This study focuses on the development of a dynamic model for EUVAM that considers regenerative effects and analyzes the interaction between the cutting edge and the workpiece in both radial and tangential directions, and the dynamic chip thickness is derived based on this model. To solve the model, a Runge-Kutta-based fully discrete method (RKFDM) is employed. This numerical method accurately predicts the stability of the EUVAM process under specified cutting conditions. In addition, a bisection algorithm is utilized to construct the stability lobe diagram of EUVAM, enhancing the computational efficiency of the process. Stability tests are conducted to validate the proposed stability model and solution method for EUVAM. The results of these tests confirm the accuracy and reliability of the approach presented in this paper. This study provides valuable insights and a practical framework for implementing EUVAM in the processing of difficult-to-cut materials, offering improved machining performance in various industrial applications. In this study, Al6061 alloy matrix composites reinforced Al2O3-decorated reduced graphene oxide (Al2O3/RGO) with 0.1, 0.3 and 0.5 weight present (wt%) were successfully fabricated using high energy ball milling and hot extrusion techniques. The microstructures of these Al2O3/RGO/Al6061 aluminum matrix composites (Al MMCs) were characterized. The results showed that Al2O3/RGO were uniformly distributed within the Al6061 matrix and tightly bonded to the matrix. Al2O3 encapsulation on RGO surface would prevent the formation of Al4C3 brittle phase in matrix, ensuring that there was no reaction between the reinforcement and the matrix Al6061. Tensile strength and Vickers hardness tests demonstrated that the mechanical properties of Al MMCs significantly increased with addition of Al2O3/RGOs. Remarkably, Al MMCs with 0.1 wt% reinforcement showed tensile yield and tensile strengths of 270 MPa and 286 MPa, respectively, which were 49% and 43% higher than those of pure Al6061 prepared using the same process. Dry reforming of methane (DRM) is a highly endothermic process, with its development hindered by the harsh thermocatalytic conditions required. We propose an innovative DRM approach utilizing a 16 W pulsed laser in combination with a cost-effective Mo2C catalyst, enabling DRM under milder conditions. The pulsed laser serves a dual function by inducing localized high temperatures and generating *CH plasma on the Mo2C surface. This activates CH4 and CO2, significantly accelerating the DRM reaction. Notably, the laser directly generates *CH plasma from CH4 through thermionic emission and cascade ionization, bypassing the traditional step-by-step dehydrogenation process and eliminating the rate-limiting step of methane cracking. This method maintains a carbon-oxygen balanced environment, thus preventing the deactivation of the Mo2C catalyst due to CO2 oxidation. The laser-catalytic DRM achieves high yields of H2 (14300.8 mmol h−1 g−1) and CO (14949.9 mmol h−1 g−1) with satisfactory energy efficiency (0.98 mmol kJ−1), providing a promising alternative for high-energy-consuming catalytic systems. Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infects more than 95% of adults worldwide and is closely associated with various malignancies. Considering the complex life cycle of EBV, developing vaccines targeting key entry glycoproteins to elicit robust and durable adaptive immune responses may provide better protection. EBV gHgL-, gB- and gp42-specific antibodies in healthy EBV carriers contributed to sera neutralizing abilities in vitro, indicating that they are potential antigen candidates. To enhance the immunogenicity of these antigens, we formulate three nanovaccines by co-delivering molecular adjuvants (CpG and MPLA) and antigens (gHgL, gB or gp42). These nanovaccines induce robust humoral and cellular responses through efficient activation of dendritic cells and germinal center response. Importantly, these nanovaccines generate high levels of neutralizing antibodies recognizing vulnerable sites of all three antigens. IgGs induced by a cocktail vaccine containing three nanovaccines confer superior protection from lethal EBV challenge in female humanized mice compared to IgG elicited by individual NP-gHgL, NP-gB and NP-gp42. Importantly, serum antibodies elicited by cocktail nanovaccine immunization confer durable protection against EBV-associated lymphoma. Overall, the cocktail nanovaccine shows robust immunogenicity and is a promising candidate for further clinical trials. RNA Polymerase (RNAP) II transcription on non-coding repetitive satellite DNAs plays an important role in chromosome segregation, but a little is known about the regulation of satellite transcription. We here show that Topoisomerase I (TopI), not TopII, promotes the transcription of α-satellite DNAs, the main type of satellite DNAs on human centromeres. Mechanistically, TopI localizes to centromeres, binds RNAP II and facilitates RNAP II elongation. Interestingly, in response to DNA double-stranded breaks (DSBs), α-satellite transcription is dramatically stimulated in a DNA damage checkpoint-independent but TopI-dependent manner, and these DSB-induced α-satellite RNAs form into strong speckles in the nucleus. Remarkably, TopI-dependent satellite transcription also exists in mouse 3T3 and Drosophila S2 cells and in Drosophila larval imaginal wing discs and tumor tissues. Altogether, our findings herein reveal an evolutionally conserved mechanism with TopI as a key player for the regulation of satellite transcription at both cellular and animal levels. This article meticulously examines the transformation of educator roles in medical education against the backdrop of emerging large language models (LLMs). Traditionally, educators have played a crucial role in transmitting knowledge, training skills, and evaluating educational outcomes. However, the advent of LLMs such as Chat Generative Pre-trained Transformer-4 has expanded and enriched these traditional roles by leveraging opportunities to enhance teaching efficiency, foster personalised learning, and optimise resource allocation. This has imbued traditional medical educator roles with new connotations. Concurrently, LLMs present challenges to medical education, such as ensuring the accuracy of information, reducing bias, minimizing student over-reliance, preventing patient privacy exposure and safeguarding data security, enhancing the cultivation of empathy, and maintaining academic integrity. In response, educators are called to adopt new roles including experts of information management, navigators of learning, guardians of academic integrity, and defenders of clinical practice. The article emphasises the enriched connotations and attributes of the medical teacher's role, underscoring their irreplaceable value in the AI-driven evolution of medical education. The unique features of the sulfenamides' S(II)-N bond lead to interesting stereochemical properties and significant industrial functions. Here we present a chemoselective Chan–Lam coupling of sulfenamides to prepare N-arylated sulfenamides. A tridentate pybox ligand governs the chemoselectivity favoring C–N bond formation, and overrides the competitive C-S bond formation by preventing the S,N-bis-chelation of sulfenamides to copper center. The Cu(II)-derived resting state of catalyst is captured by UV-Vis spectra and EPR technique, and the key intermediate is confirmed by the EPR isotope response using 15N-labeled sulfenamide. A computational mechanistic study reveals that N-arylation is both kinetically and thermodynamically favorable, with deprotonation of the sulfenamide nitrogen atom occurring prior to reductive elimination. The origin of ligand-controlled chemoselectivity is explored, with the interaction between the pybox ligand and the sulfenamide substrate controlling the energy of the S-arylation and the corresponding product distribution, in agreement with the EPR studies and kinetic results. Sulfenamides are a class of divalent sulfur-derived scaffolds featuring an S-N bond with many industrial applications, however, they are also challenging substrates for synthetic transformations. Glutamine addiction represents a metabolic vulnerability of cancer cells; however, effective therapeutic targeting of the pathways involved remains to be realized. Here, we disclose the critical role of interferon-related developmental regulator 1 (IFRD1) in the adaptive survival of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) cells during glutamine starvation. IFRD1 is induced under glutamine starvation to inhibit autophagy by promoting the proteasomal degradation of the key autophagy regulator ATG14 in a TRIM21-dependent manner. Conversely, targeting IFRD1 in the glutamine-deprived state increases autophagy flux, triggering cancer cell exhaustive death. This effect largely results from the nucleophilic degradation of histone H1.0 and the ensuing unchecked increases in ribosome and protein biosynthesis associated with globally enhanced chromatin accessibility. Intriguingly, IFRD1 depletion in preclinical HCC models synergizes with the treatment of the glutaminase-1 selective inhibitor CB-839 to potentiate the effect of limiting glutamine. Together, our findings reveal how IFRD1 supports the adaptive survival of cancer cells under glutamine starvation, further highlighting the potential of IFRD1 as a therapeutic target in anti-cancer applications. Highlights: Branch chain-rich diisopropyl ether (DIPE) was selected as co-solvent of low-temperature electrolyte for lithium metal battery. The introduction of DIPE improved the disorder of electrolyte and the branch chains from DIPE exclude other solvents from the Li+ solvent sheath, thereby achieving a rapid desolvation process. The electrolyte guaranteed a uniform Li stripping and deposition during cycling at both room temperature and low temperature and ensured stable cycling performance for Li||LFP cells over 650 cycles at − 20 °C. Li metal batteries (LMBs) offer significant potential as high energy density alternatives; nevertheless, their performance is hindered by the slow desolvation process of electrolytes, particularly at low temperatures (LT), leading to low coulombic efficiency and limited cycle stability. Thus, it is essential to optimize the solvation structure thereby achieving a rapid desolvation process in LMBs at LT. Herein, we introduce branch chain-rich diisopropyl ether (DIPE) into a 2.5 M Li bis(fluorosulfonyl)imide dipropyl ether (DPE) electrolyte as a co-solvent for high-performance LMBs at − 20 °C. The incorporation of DIPE not only enhances the disorder within the electrolyte, but also induces a steric hindrance effect form DIPE's branch chain, excluding other solvent molecules from Li+ solvation sheath. Both of these factors contribute to the weak interactions between Li+ and solvent molecules, effectively reducing the desolvation energy of the electrolyte. Consequently, Li (50 μm)||LFP (mass loading ~ 10 mg cm−2) cells in DPE/DIPE based electrolyte demonstrate stable performance over 650 cycles at − 20 °C, delivering 87.2 mAh g−1, and over 255 cycles at 25 °C with 124.8 mAh g−1. Objective: To investigate the action of circPDK1 in paclitaxel (PTX) resistance in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Methods: circPDK1, miR-4731-5p, and GIGYF1 levels were determined by RT-qPCR and Western blot. Cell proliferation was detected by CCK-8 and colony formation assay, apoptosis by flow cytometry, invasion by Transwell assay. The targeting relationship between miR-4731-5p and circPDK1 or GIGYF1 was confirmed by dual luciferase reporter gene and RIP assay. A xenograft tumor model was established to determine the role of circPDK1 in PTX resistance. Results: circPDK1 was overexpressed in PTX-resistant NSCLC, and depleting circPDK1 hampered proliferation and invasion of PTX-resistant cells, activated apoptosis, and improved PTX sensitivity. circPDK1 bound to miR-4731-5p, and increasing miR-4731-5p expression salvaged the effect of circPDK1 depletion on PTX resistance. miR-4731-5p directly targeted GIGYF1, and upregulating GIGYF1 offset the promoting effect of circPDK1 knockdown on PTX sensitivity. NSCLC tumor growth was inhibited and PTX sensitivity improved when circPDK1 was suppressed. We report an innovative and facile approach to fabricating an ultrasensitive plasmonic paper substrate for surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS). The approach exploits the self-assembling capability of poly(styrene-b-2-vinyl pyridine) block copolymers to form a thin film at the air-liquid interface within the single microdroplet scale for the first time and the subsequent in situ growth of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs). The concentration of the block copolymer was found to play an essential role in stabilizing the droplets during the mass transfer phase and formation of silver nanoparticles, thus influencing the SERS signals. SEM analysis of the morphology of the plasmonic paper substrates revealed the formation of spherical AgNPs evenly distributed across the surface of the formed copolymer film with a size distribution of 47.5 nm. The resultant enhancement factor was calculated to be 1.2 × 107, and the detection limit of rhodamine 6G was as low as 48.9 pM. The nanohybridized plasmonic paper was successfully applied to detect two emerging pollutants—sildenafil and flibanserin—with LODs as low as 1.48 nM and 3.45 nM, respectively. Thus, this study offers new prospects for designing an affordable and readily available, yet highly sensitive, paper-based SERS substrate with the potential for development as a lab-on-a-chip device. The application of near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) for rapid quantitative analysis of soil total nitrogen (STN) is of great significance to recycling nitrogen in the ecosystem and crops growth. However, collecting thousands of soil samples and chemical analysis are impracticable, more importantly a deviation from NIRS advantages of rapid, inexpensive and nondestructive. To more efficiently improve the estimation performance and reduce uncertainty of the model when working with small sample sizes (less than 100), solutions from soil particle size decomposition and model fusion were investigated. Elaborately, 123 Latosols samples were collected and decomposed them according to particle sizes to extend limited data at multiple scales. Based on all soil groups decomposed, a hyperspectral data recapture and model decision fusion method were implemented. The results demonstrated that the proposed method increased the scale of spectral data, extracted more STN-related spectral information, improved estimation accuracy, and reduced uncertainty. The fused model based on data from all decomposed groups yielded the best estimated results (root mean square error (R M S E) = 0.075 g. k g - 1 , R 2 = 0.784 , and a ratio of performance to inter-quartile distance (R P I Q) = 3.787 ) on the validation set. Through a tenfold cross-validation, the weighted fusion model with six groups of particle sizes data showed an improvement of 0.307 in R c 2 v and an improved RPIQ of 1.015 compared to models constructed using conventional machine learning (ML) techniques and limited pristine data ( R c 2 v = 0.442 , R M S E = 0.119 ). Therefore, when utilizing NIRS to build rapid and accurate STN predictive models, the proposed method demonstrates great potential in improving the reliability of soil spectral models under small sample sizes. Attribute reduction is capable of reducing the dimensionality of data and improving the performance of data mining. As a reasonable representative of relationships between samples, neighbor inconsistent pair focuses on measuring uncertainty in information systems. Nevertheless, classical attribute reduction methods are static and unsuitable for data with variations. Additionally, it is inevitable for data to undergo changes in real-life scenarios, such as an increase in the number of samples. Therefore, it is essential to identify an efficient method for reducing the dimensionality of the dataset while preserving the classification accuracy. Inspired by these deficiencies, our focus lies on developing effective and efficient incremental methods that employ the neighbor inconsistent pair selection strategy for decision tables involving object variations. At first, some concepts related to rough sets, simplified decision tables and neighbor inconsistent pairs are introduced. Then, the heuristic attribute reduction algorithms for dynamic decision tables with the variation of object sets are designed by neighbor inconsistent pairs. Next, a novel feature selection procedure, which we refer to as incremental neighbor inconsistent pair selection, is proposed to update reducts for dynamic decision tables with the variation of object sets. Finally, two incremental attribute reduction algorithms based on neighbor inconsistent pair selection are designed. Furthermore, experiments are conducted on real datasets to validate the effectiveness and benefits of the proposed incremental algorithms. The results indicate that our algorithms exhibit minimal computing time requirements while achieving the highest classification accuracy among at least ten out of thirteen datasets when compared to the comparative algorithms. Massively parallel sequencing (MPS) has emerged as a promising technology for targeting multiple genetic loci simultaneously in forensic genetics. Here, a novel 193-plex panel was designed to target 28 A-STRs, 41 Y-STRs, 21 X-STRs, 3 sex-identified loci, and 100 A-SNPs by employing a single-end 400 bp sequencing strategy on the MGISEQ-2000™ platform. In the present study, a series of validations and sequencing of 1642 population samples were performed to evaluate the overall performance of the MPS-based panel and its practicality in forensic application according to the SWGDAM guidelines. In general, the 193-plex markers in our panel showed good performance in terms of species specificity, stability, and repeatability. Compared to commercial kits, this panel achieved 100% concordance for standard gDNA and 99.87% concordance for 14,560 population genotypes. Moreover, this panel detected 100% of the loci from 0.5 ng of DNA template and all unique alleles at a 1:4 DNA mixture ratio (0.2 ng minor contributor), and the applicability of the proposed approach for tracing and degrading DNA was further supported by case samples. In addition, several forensic parameters of STRs and SNPs were calculated in a population study. High CPE and CPD values greater than 0.9999999 were clearly demonstrated and these results could be useful references for the application of this panel in individual identification and paternity testing. Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is a type of breast cancer with poor prognosis, which is prone to distant metastasis and therapy resistance. The presence of neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) contributes to the progression of breast cancer and is an efficient predictor of TNBC. We obtained the bulk and single-cell RNA sequencing data from public databases. Firstly, we identified five NET-related genes and constructed NET-related subgroups. Then, we constructed a risk index with three pivotal genes based on the differentially expressed genes between subgroups. Patients in the high-risk group had worse prognosis, clinicopathological features, and therapy response than low-risk group. Functional enrichment analysis revealed that the low-risk group was enriched in Wnt signaling pathway, and surprisingly, the drug sensitivity prediction showed that Wnt signaling pathway inhibitors had higher drug sensitivity in the low-risk group. Finally, verification experiments in vitro based on MDA-MB-231 and BT-549 cells showed that tumor cells with low-risk scores had less migration, invasion, and proliferative abilities and high drug sensitivity to Wnt signaling pathway inhibitors. In this study, multi-omics analysis revealed that genes associated with NETs may influence the occurrence, progression, and treatment of TNBC. Moreover, the bioinformatics analysis and cell experiments demonstrated that the risk index could predict the population of TNBC likely to benefit from treatment with Wnt signaling pathway inhibitors. Semantic segmentation of outdoor point clouds is an important task in the field of computer vision, aiming to classify outdoor point cloud data into different semantic categories. The methods based on pure point cloud have some shortcomings, such as incomplete information and difficulty in processing incomplete data. In the paper, it proposes pseudo point cloud method to align image with point cloud. The image features are extracted through a 2D network, and then the point cloud is mapped onto the image to obtain the corresponding pixel features, forming the pseudo point cloud. Then the dual fusion attention mechanism is designed to fuse the features of point cloud and pseudo point cloud. It improves the efficiency of the fusion network. The experimental results show that this method outperforms existing methods on the large-scale SemanticKITTI benchmark and achieves third place performance on the NuScenes benchmark. Polymerization-driven removal of pollutants in advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) offers a sustainable way for the simultaneous achievement of contamination abatement and resource recovery, supporting a low-carbon water purification approach. However, regulating such a process remains a great challenge due to the insufficient microscopic understanding of electronic structure-dependent reaction mechanisms. Herein, this work probes the origin of catalytic pollutant polymerization using a series of transition metal (Cu, Ni, Co, and Fe) single-atom catalysts and identifies the d-band center of active site as the key driver for polymerization transfer of pollutants. The high-valent metal-oxo species, produced via peroxymonosulfate activation, are found to trigger the pollutant removal via polymerization transfer. Phenoxyl radicals, identified by the innovative spin-trapping and quenching approaches, act as the key intermediate in the polymerization reactions. More importantly, the oxidation capacity of high-valent metal-oxo species can be facilely tuned by regulating their binding strength for peroxymonosulfate through d-band center modulation. A 100% polymerization transfer ratio is achieved by lowering the d-band center. Mitochondrial toxicity induced by therapeutic drugs is a major contributor for cardiotoxicity, posing a serious threat to pharmaceutical industries and patients' lives. However, mitochondrial toxicity testing is not incorporated into routine cardiac safety screening procedures. To accurately model native human cardiomyocytes, we comprehensively evaluated mitochondrial responses of adult human primary cardiomyocytes (hPCMs) to a nucleoside analog, remdesivir (RDV). Comparison of their response to human pluripotent stem cell-derived cardiomyocytes revealed that the latter utilized a mitophagy-based mitochondrial recovery response that was absent in hPCMs. Accordingly, action potential duration was elongated in hPCMs, reflecting clinical incidences of RDV-induced QT prolongation. In a screen for mitochondrial protectants, we identified mitochondrial ROS as a primary mediator of RDV-induced cardiotoxicity. Our study demonstrates the utility of hPCMs in the detection of clinically relevant cardiac toxicities, and offers a framework for hPCM-based high-throughput screening of cardioprotective agents. The giant ladybug Megalocaria dilatata (Fabricius) is a potential biocontrol agent and a valuable model for coccinellid genomics and evolutionary biology. However, the lack of a reference genome for M. dilatata has impeded further explorations into its evolution and constrained its use in pest management. Here, we assembled and annotated a high-quality, chromosome-level genome of M. dilatata. The resulting assembly spans 772.3 Mb, with a scaffold N50 of 72.48 Mb and a GC content of 34.23%. The Hi-C data aided in anchoring the assembly onto 10 chromosomes ranging from 43.35 to 108.16 Mb. We identified 493.33 Mb of repeat sequences, accounting for 63.88% of the assembled genome. Our gene prediction identified 25,346 genes, with 81.89% annotated in public protein databases. The genome data will provide a valuable resource for studying the biology and evolution of Coccinellidae, aiding in pest control strategies and advancing research in the field. Rice grain size directly affects grain yield and is an important quantitative trait target. Many genes regulating grain size have been mapped and cloned in recent years. These genes not only play a single role on grain size regulation but have mutual interactive effect on grain size. Mining key allele combinations of grain-size regulating genes will favorite the pyramiding of favorable alleles in rice varieties with desired grain size and shape that meet people's preferences. Here, we studied the effect of seven major grain-size regulating genes (GS3, GS5, GW8/OsSPL16, BG2, GS6, GS2 and TGW3) and their allele combinations on grain size-related traits (grain length, grain width, grain length width ratio, thousand grain weight), and established multiple regression equations to predict rice grain size. We found that alleles of seven genes displayed significant differences in rice grain size. Among the seven genes, GS3 gene played the most important effect in regulating grain size, pyramiding GS3 alleles with other alleles such as GS6-II/III allele could significantly enhance grain size or grain weight. Specific allele combination of GS3-A, GS2-ZH11, GS5-Zhenshan97, GS6-II/III, BG2-9311 and GW8-HJX74 can produce rice varieties with slender grains; allele combination of GS3-A, GS6-I, BG2-Nipponbare and TGW3-CW23 produce grains with higher grain weight. The regression equation model developed in this study provided a useful tool to predict rice grain size. Hypoxia is a key limiting factor for seedling emergence and establishment of direct-seeded rice (DSR) under submergence. The anaerobic germination (AG) tolerance, therefore, is one of the most critical traits in DSR breeding programs. However, the genetic basis of AG is still unclear. In this study, 229 single segment substitution lines (SSSLs) were arranged in an augmented design in field planting. We evaluated the anaerobic germinability by measuring the SSSLs' coleoptile length (CL) under submergence, and then identified AG QTLs. AG was a typical quantitative trait based on the results of five cropping seasons. We repeatedly detected 19 SSSLs with putative AG QTLs in at least two cropping seasons. Moreover, substitution mapping identified 11 integrated AG QTLs on nine chromosomes, including six positive and five negative QTLs with additive effect contributions ranging from 6.8 to 18.5%. Among the 11 QTLs, qAG4 and qAG11 were novel ones, qAG9 was cloned in a previous study, and the remaining eight QTLs overlapped with reported AG QTLs. Tubulointerstitial fibrosis (TIF) plays a crucial role in the progression of diabetic kidney disease (DKD). However, the underlying molecular mechanisms remain obscure. The present study aimed to examine whether transmembrane member 16A (TMEM16A), a Ca2+-activated chloride channel, contributes to the development of TIF in DKD. Interestingly, we found that TMEM16A expression was significantly up-regulated in tubule of murine model of DKD, which was associated with development of TIF. In vivo inhibition of TMEM16A channel activity with specific inhibitors Ani9 effectively protects against TIF. Then, we found that TMEM16A activation induces tubular mitochondrial dysfunction in in vivo and in vitro models, with the evidence of the TMEM16A inhibition with specific inhibitor. Mechanically, TMEM16A mediated tubular mitochondrial dysfunction through inhibiting PGC-1α, whereas overexpression of PGC-1α could rescue the changes. In addition, TMEM16A-induced fibrogenesis was dependent on increased intracellular Cl−, and reducing intracellular Cl− significantly blunted high glucose-induced PGC-1α and profibrotic factors expression. Taken together, our studies demonstrated that tubular TMEM16A promotes TIF by suppressing PGC-1α-mediated mitochondrial homeostasis in DKD. Although beta-endorphinergic neurons in the hypothalamic arcuate nucleus (ARC) synthesize beta-endorphin (β-EP) to alleviate nociceptive behaviors, the underlying regulatory mechanisms remain unknown. Here, we elucidated an epigenetic pathway driven by microRNA regulation of β-EP synthesis in ARC neurons to control neuropathic pain. In pain-injured rats miR-203a-3p was the most highly upregulated miRNA in the ARC. A similar increase was identified in the cerebrospinal fluid of trigeminal neuralgia patients. Mechanistically, we found histone deacetylase 9 was downregulated following nerve injury, which decreased deacetylation of histone H3 lysine-18, facilitating the binding of NR4A2 transcription factor to the miR-203a-3p gene promoter, thereby upregulating miR-203a-3p expression. Further, increased miR-203a-3p was found to maintain neuropathic pain by targeting proprotein convertase 1, an endopeptidase necessary for the cleavage of proopiomelanocortin, the precursor of β-EP. The identified mechanism may provide an avenue for the development of new therapeutic targets for neuropathic pain treatment. In various contexts in mathematical physics, such as out-of-equilibrium physics and the asymptotic information theory of many-body quantum systems, one needs to compute the logarithm of a positive unbounded operator. Examples include the von Neumann entropy of a density matrix and the flow of operators with the modular Hamiltonian in the Tomita-Takesaki theory. Often, one encounters the situation where the operator under consideration, which we denote by ∆, can be related by a perturbative series to another operator ∆0, whose logarithm is known. We set up a perturbation theory for the logarithm log ∆. In non-maximally quantum chaotic systems, the exponential behavior of out-of-time-ordered correlators (OTOCs) results from summing over exchanges of an infinite tower of higher "spin" operators. We construct an effective field theory (EFT) to capture these exchanges in (0 + 1) dimensions. The EFT generalizes the one for maximally chaotic systems, and reduces to it in the limit of maximal chaos. The theory predicts the general structure of OTOCs both at leading order in the 1/N expansion (N is the number of degrees of freedom), and after resuming over an infinite number of higher order 1/N corrections. These general results agree with those previously explicitly obtained in specific models. We also show that the general structure of the EFT can be extracted from the large q SYK model. Planar diffractive lenses (PDLs) with optimized but disordered structures can focus light beyond the diffraction limit. However, these disordered structures have inevitably destroyed wide-field imaging capability, limiting their applications in microscopy. Here, we introduce information entropy S to evaluate the disorder of an objective chip by using the probability of its structural deviation from standard Fresnel zone plates. Inspired by the theory of entropy change, we predict an equilibrium point S 0 = 0.5 to balance wide-field imaging (theoretically evaluated by the Strehl ratio) and subdiffraction-limit focusing. To verify this, a N A = 0.9 objective chip with a record-long focal length of 1 mm is designed with S = 0.535 , which is the nearest to the equilibrium point among all reported PDLs. Consequently, our fabricated chip can focus light with subdiffraction-limit size of 0.44 λ and image fine details with spatial frequencies up to 4000 lp/mm experimentally. These unprecedented performances enable ultracompact reflective confocal microscopy for superresolution imaging. The optimized and disordered structures of planar diffractive lenses enable sub-diffraction limit focusing but destroy wide-field imaging. The templating method holds great promise for fabricating surface nanopatterns. To enhance the manufacturing capabilities of complex surface nanopatterns, it is important to explore new modes of the templates beyond their conventional masking and molding modes. Here, we employed the metal-organic framework (MOF) microparticles assembled monolayer films as templates for metal electrodeposition and revealed a previously unidentified guiding growth mode enabling the precise growth of metallic films exclusively underneath the MOF microparticles. The guiding growth mode was induced by the fast ion transportation within the nanochannels of the MOF templates. The MOF template could be repeatedly used, allowing for the creation of identical metallic surface nanopatterns for multiple times on different substrates. The MOF template-guided electrochemical growth mode provided a robust route towards cost-effective fabrication of complex metallic surface nanopatterns with promising applications in metamaterials, plasmonics, and surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) sensing fields. Solving the inverse kinematics of redundant and hyper-redundant manipulators is more challenging because their kinematic redundancy leads to a more complicated mapping from end-effector pose to configuration space. A heuristic inverse kinematics solver, called Forward And Backward Reaching Inverse Kinematics (FABRIK), has been demonstrated to solve the inverse kinematics of complex chain systems with fast convergence and simple implementation. However, as the pose precision of the end-effector increases to a higher value, such as 10 - 6 , FABRIK converges slowly in some configurations and thus exhibits unstable convergence behavior. Hence, this paper presents a novel inverse kinematics algorithm that combines FABRIK and the sequential quadratic programming (SQP) algorithm, in which the joint angles deduced by FABRIK will be taken as the initial seed of the SQP algorithm to realize fast convergence. Meanwhile, a universal and non-trivial mapping from joint Cartesian positions to joint angles is included to enable the extension of FABRIK to redundant and hyper-redundant manipulators while retaining its simplicity. With the 10 - 6 pose error constraint, quantitative tests on serial chain manipulators demonstrate that the combined algorithm outperforms FABRIK in terms of success rate and runtime. Meanwhile, some popular inverse kinematics algorithms are treated as benchmarks to compare with the combined algorithm. Few articles have reported on the treatment of Masada type 2 forearm deformities in hereditary multiple exostosis, possibly because of the high redislocation rate and other complications. This study precisely declares the use of modified ulnar lengthening by an Ilizarov external fixation with tumour excision for the treatment of Masada type 2 forearm deformities. 20 children with Masada type 2 forearm deformities were admitted for surgical treatment at our hospital from February 2014 to February 2021. There were 13 girls and 7 boys, ranging in age from 3.5 to 15 years (mean: 9 years) at the time of operation. We removed the prominent osteochondromas of the distal ulna and the proximal radius, positioned a classic Ilizarov external fixator on the forearm and then performed ulnar transverse one-third proximal diaphyseal subperiosteal osteotomy. We adopted modified ulnar lengthening postoperatively. The effects of surgical correction of deformity and functional improvement of the limb were assessed via regular follow-up and X-ray. The patients were followed up for 36 months, and the ulna was lengthened 26.99 mm on average; all radial heads remained relocated. The radiographic evaluations, including relative ulnar shortening, radial articular angle, and carpal slip, were improved. The functions of the elbow and forearm were all improved after surgery. Modified ulnar lengthening by an Ilizarov external fixation with tumour excision for the treatment of Masada type 2 forearm deformities in hereditary multiple exostoses has been proven to be an effective and reliable technique in the early stage. To quantify the pooled rate and risk ratio of seroconversion following the uncomplete, complete, or booster dose of COVID-19 vaccines in patients living with HIV. PubMed, Embase and Cochrane library were searched for eligible studies to perform a systematic review and meta-analysis based on PRIMSA guidelines. The pooled rate and risk ratio of seroconversion were assessed using the Freeman-Tukey double arcsine method and Mantel–Haenszel approach, respectively. Random-effects model was preferentially used as the primary approach to pool results across studies. A total of 50 studies involving 7160 patients living with HIV were analyzed. We demonstrated that only 75.0% (56.4% to 89.9%) patients living with HIV achieved a seroconversion after uncomplete vaccination, which improved to 89.3% (84.2% to 93.5%) after complete vaccination, and 98.4% (94.8% to 100%) after booster vaccination. The seroconversion rates were significantly lower compared to controls at all the stages, while the risk ratios for uncomplete, complete, and booster vaccination were 0.87 (0.77 to 0.99), 0.95 (0.92 to 0.98), and 0.97 (0.94 to 0.99), respectively. We concluded that vaccine doses were associated with consistently improved rates and risk ratios of seroconversion in patients living with HIV, highlighting the significance of booster vaccination for patients living with HIV. Solar-thermal storage with phase-change material (PCM) plays an important role in solar energy utilization. However, most PCMs own low thermal conductivity which restricts the thermal charging rate in bulk samples and leads to low solar-thermal conversion efficiency. Here, we propose to regulate the solar-thermal conversion interface in spatial dimension by transmitting the sunlight into the paraffin-graphene composite with side-glowing optical waveguide fiber. This inner-light-supply mode avoids the overheating surface of the PCM, accelerates the charging rate by 123% than that of the traditional surface irradiation mode and increases the solar thermal efficiency to ~94.85%. Additionally, the large-scale device with inner-light-supply mode works efficiently outdoors, indicating the potential of this heat localization strategy in practical application. Phase change material for solar-thermal energy storage is widely studied to counter the mismatch between supply and demand in solar energy utilization. Hypomagnesemia (HypoMg) can cause seizures and death, but the mechanism is unknown. Transient receptor potential cation channel subfamily M 7 (TRPM7) is a Mg transporter with both channel and kinase function. In this study, we focused on the kinase role of TRPM7 in HypoMg-induced seizures and death. Wild type C57BL/6J mice and transgenic mice with a global homozygous mutation in the TRPM7 kinase domain (TRPM7K1646R, with no kinase function) were fed with control diet or a HypoMg diet. After 6 weeks of HypoMg diet, mice had significantly decreased serum Mg, elevated brain TRPM7, and a significant rate of death, with females being most susceptible. Deaths were immediately preceded by seizure events. TRPM7K1646R mice showed resistance to seizure-induced death. HypoMg-induced brain inflammation and oxidative stress were suppressed by TRPM7K1646R. Compared to their male counterparts, HypoMg female mice had higher levels of inflammation and oxidative stress in the hippocampus. We concluded that TRPM7 kinase function contributes seizure-induced deaths in HypoMg mice and that inhibiting the kinase reduced inflammation and oxidative stress. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Arthropod-borne virus (arbovirus) and arthropod-specific virus (ASV) are viruses circulating amongst hematophagous arthropods that are broadly transmitted in ecological systems. Arbovirus may replicate in both vertebrates and invertebrates and some are known to be pathogenic to animals or humans. ASV only replicate in invertebrate arthropods yet they are basal to many types of arboviruses. We built a comprehensive dataset of arbovirus and ASV by curating globally available data from the Arbovirus Catalog, the arbovirus list in Section VIII-F of the Biosafety in Microbiological and Biomedical Laboratories 6th edition, Virus Metadata Resource of International Committee on Taxonomy of Viruses, and GenBank. Revealing the diversity, distribution and biosafety recommendation of arbovirus and ASV at a global scale is essential to the understanding of potential interactions, evolution, and risks associated with these viruses. Moreover, the genomic sequences associated with the dataset will enable the investigation of genetic patterns distinguishing the two groups, as well as aid in predicting the vector/host relationships of the newly discovered viruses. Circular RNAs (circRNAs) play important roles in the regulation of cancer. However, the clinical implications and regulatory networks of circRNAs in cancer patients receiving immune checkpoint blockades (ICB) have not been fully elucidated. Here, we characterize circRNA expression profiles in two independent cohorts of 157 ICB-treated advanced melanoma patients and reveal overall overexpression of circRNAs in ICB non-responders in both pre-treatment and early during therapy. Then, we construct circRNA-miRNA-mRNA regulatory networks to reveal circRNA-related signaling pathways in the context of ICB treatment. Further, we construct an ICB-related circRNA signature (ICBcircSig) score model based on progression-free survival-related circRNAs to predict immunotherapy efficacy. Mechanistically, the overexpression of ICBcircSig circTMTC3 and circFAM117B could increase PD-L1 expression via the miR-142-5p/PD-L1 axis, thus reducing T cell activity and leading to immune escape.
