Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) have emerged as a predominant threat to human health, surpassing the incidence and mortality rates of neoplastic diseases. Extracellular vesicles (EVs) serve as vital mediators in intercellular communication and material exchange. Endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs), recognized as precursors of vascular endothelial cells (ECs), have garnered considerable attention in recent years due to the potential therapeutic value of their derived extracellular vesicles (EPC-EVs) in the context of CVDs. This comprehensive review systematically explores the origins, characteristics, and functions of EPCs, alongside the classification, properties, biogenesis, and extraction techniques of EVs, with particular emphasis on their protective roles in CVDs. Additionally, we delve into the essential bioactive components of EPC-EVs, including microRNAs, long non-coding RNAs, and proteins, analyzing their beneficial effects in promoting angiogenesis, anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant activities, anti-fibrosis, anti-apoptosis, and myocardial regeneration. Furthermore, this review comprehensively investigates the therapeutic potential of EPC-EVs across various CVDs, encompassing acute myocardial infarction, myocardial ischemia–reperfusion injury, atherosclerosis, non-ischemic cardiomyopathies, and diabetic cardiovascular disease. Lastly, we summarize the potential challenges associated with the clinical application of EPC-EVs and outline future directions, aiming to offer a valuable resource for both theoretical insights and practical applications of EPC-EVs in managing CVDs. In this work, porous Ti‐15Mo scaffolds with different porosity gradient structures (uniform gradient structures [U‐BCC], level gradient structures [LG‐BCC], and vertical gradient structures [VG‐BCC]) were fabricated by selective laser melting, and the corrosion fatigue testing in Hank's solution was conducted for the first time. The fatigue strength order, when considering the same fatigue life, follows the sequence of LG‐BCC structure > U‐BCC structure > VG‐BCC structure. Cyclic ratcheting is a prominent factor leading to fatigue failure. The sequence of crack initiation and propagation in the latter stage of corrosion fatigue can be listed as follows: LG‐BCC structure < U‐BCC structure < VG‐BCC structure. During the corrosion fatigue process, the grain refinement occurs, and the deformation twinning is generated, leading to a dissipation of energy and an increase of the fatigue resistance. The corrosive effect of Hank's solution induces the surface roughening of the sample, accelerating crack initiation and propagation. Purpose Design Methods Results Conclusion To explore the association between progressive peripapillary capillary vessel density (pcVD) reduction and the progression of visual field (VF) impairment in individuals with normal tension glaucoma (NTG).Prospective cohort study.The study enrolled 110 participants with one eye each, totalling 110 NTG eyes. VF defects were evaluated using standard automated perimetry mean deviation (MD), while pcVD measurements were obtained using optical coherence tomography angiography throughout the follow‐up period. Estimates of VF progression were determined by event‐based and trend‐based analyses. Fast VF progression was defined as an MD slope steeper than −0.5 dB/year, while the slow progression or stable VF was defined as an MD slope better or equal to −0.25 dB/year. Linear mixed‐effects models were employed to analyse the rates of change in pcVD reduction and VF MD decline over time. Additionally, univariable and multivariable linear models were used to examine the relationship between pcVD changes and VF loss rates in NTG.Slow VF progression or stable VF was observed in 45% of subjects, while 25% had moderate progression and 30% showed fast progression. Patients with VF progression exhibited faster rate of pcVD reduction in peripapillary global region (−0.73 ± 0.40%/year vs. −0.56 ± 0.35%/year, p = 0.022). Moreover, this rate positively correlated with VF MD decline in NTG (estimate 0.278, 95% CI 0.122–0.433, p = 0.001).In individuals with NTG, faster VF progression was linked to a quicker reduction in pcVD, suggesting a positive correlation between pcVD decline and VF deterioration. Resveratrol (RSV), obtained from dietary sources, has been shown to reduce trimethylamine oxide (TMAO) levels in humans, and much research indicates that TMAO is recognized as a risk factor for cardiovascular disease. Therefore, this study investigated the effects of RSV and RSV-butyrate esters (RBE) on the proliferation of co-cultured bacteria and HepG2 cell lines, respectively, and also investigated the changes in trimethylamine (TMA) and TMOA content in the medium and flavin-containing monooxygenase-3 (FMO3) gene expression. This study revealed that 50 µg/mL of RBE could increase the population percentage of Bifidobacterium longum at a rate of 53%, while the rate was 48% for Clostridium asparagiforme. In contrast, co-cultivation of the two bacterial strains effectively reduced TMA levels from 561 ppm to 449 ppm. In addition, regarding TMA-induced HepG2 cell lines, treatment with 50 μM each of RBE, 3,4′-di-O-butanoylresveratrol (ED2), and 3-O-butanoylresveratrol (ED4) significantly reduced FMO3 gene expression from 2.13 to 0.40–1.40, which would also contribute to the reduction of TMAO content. This study demonstrated the potential of RBE, ED2, and ED4 for regulating TMA metabolism in microbial co-cultures and cell line cultures, which also suggests that the resveratrol derivative might be a daily dietary supplement that will be beneficial for health promotion in the future. With the rapid development of the energy industry and the growth of the global energy demand in recent years, the development of the photovoltaic industry has become increasingly significant. However, the development of the PV industry is constrained by high land costs, and land in central cities and industrial areas is often very expensive and unsuitable for the installation of PV equipment in large areas. With this background knowledge, the key to evaluating the PV potential is by counting the rooftop information of buildings, and an ideal solution for extracting building rooftop information is from remote sensing satellite images using the deep learning method; however, the deep learning method often requires large-scale labeled samples, and the labeling of remote sensing images is often time-consuming and expensive. To reduce the burden of data labeling, models trained on large datasets can be used as pre-trained models (e.g., ImageNet) to provide prior knowledge for training. However, most of the existing pre-trained model parameters are not suitable for direct transfer to remote sensing tasks. In this paper, we design a pseudo-label-guided self-supervised learning (PGSSL) semantic segmentation network structure based on high-resolution remote sensing images to extract building information. The pseudo-label-guided learning method allows the feature results extracted by the pretext task to be more applicable to the target task and ultimately improves segmentation accuracy. Our proposed method achieves better results than current contrastive learning methods in most experiments and uses only about 20–50% of the labeled data to achieve comparable performance with random initialization. In addition, a more accurate statistical method for building density distribution is designed based on the semantic segmentation results. This method addresses the last step of the extraction results oriented to the PV potential assessment, and this paper is validated in Beijing, China, to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. Using orchid mycorrhizal fungi (OMFs) to facilitate orchid proliferation is considered an effective method of orchid conservation. Based on the success of using in situ seedling baiting to obtain plant growth-promoting fungi in our previous study, in this study, we developed the method of using ex situ seedling baiting to capture seedling-associated fungi from Dendrobium officinale. We collected substrates (e.g., litters, barks and mosses) from six original habitats of D. officinale in different geographical locations in China, and then, transplanted in vitro-produced seedlings of D. officinale into the substrates. After cultivation for 75 days, it was obvious that fungi colonized the seedling roots and formed large numbers of pelotons in all six groups. From these seedling roots, a total of 251 fungal strains, which were divided into 16 OMF and 11 non-OMF species, were successfully isolated. The 16 OMFs included 13 Tulasnella and 3 Serendipitaceae species. The fungal species isolated from the different groups (original habitat sources) were not identical, but the dominant OMFs with high isolation frequencies (more than 10 times) were commonly isolated from more than four original sources. Among the 11 non-OMFs, Fusarium oxysporum TP-18 and Muscodor sp. TP-26 were the dominant endophytes. Fusarium oxysporum is a common endophyte associated with many orchid species, including D. officinale. The results suggest that ex situ seedling baiting is an easy and efficient approach to obtaining seedling-associated fungi for this species and could be performed for other over-collected species, especially orchids for which wild plants have disappeared in the field but their original habitats are known. The Zuluhong quartz-vein-type polymetallic deposit, located in the Alatau area of Western Tianshan, China, is a particular and typical tungsten deposit associated with copper. This paper presents major and trace element analyses of magmatic and altered (i.e, chloritized) biotite from the deposit, in order to identify the source of the magmas and characterize the mineralization physical-chemical condition. Magmatic biotite is Fe-rich and has high Rb/Ba ratios (0.27–9.14), indicative of extensive differentiation of granite. Moreover, magmatic biotite has total rare earth element (∑REE) contents that are 5–10% of the whole-rock contents, shows slight light REE depletion, and negative Ce anomalies. Magmatic biotite is enriched in some large-ion lithophile elements (LILE; e.g., Rb and K) and depleted in some high-field-strength elements (HFSE; e.g., Th and Nb). These geochemical features, coupled with geological evidence, indicate that the Zuluhong intrusion is a highly fractionated I-type granite derived from lower crustal melting. During ore formation, magmatic biotite was partially to totally altered to chlorite due to interaction with ore-forming fluids. The temperature and oxygen fugacity decreased during alteration. The mineralization in the Zuluhong polymetallic deposit can be divided into at least two stages. In the early stage, quartz-vein-type wolframite mineralization formed from Si- and volatile-rich fluids that were derived from fractionated granitic magma. In the later stage, W–Cu ores formed as metal sulfides were dominated by chalcopyrite. The later ore-forming fluids experienced a decrease in temperature and oxygen fugacity as they reacted (i.e, chloritization and lesser silicification) with reducing wall rocks around the contact zone of the intrusion. Improved insight into the molecular mechanisms of triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) is required to predict prognosis and develop a new therapeutic strategy for targeted genes. The aim of this study is to identify key genes which may affect the prognosis of TNBC patients by bioinformatic analysis. In our study, the RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) expression data of 116 breast cancer lacking ER, PR, and HER2 expression and 113 normal tissues were downloaded from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA). We screened out 147 differentially co-expressed genes in TNBC compared to non-cancerous tissue samples by using weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA) and differential gene expression analysis. Then, Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway enrichment analyses were constructed, revealing that 147 genes were mainly enriched in nuclear division, chromosomal region, ATPase activity, and cell cycle signaling. After using Cytoscape software for protein-protein interaction (PPI) network analysis and LASSO feature selection, a total of fifteen key genes were identified. Among them, BUB1 and CENPF were significantly correlated with the overall survival rate (OS) difference of TNBC patients (p value < 0.05). In addition, BUB1, CCNA2, and PACC1 showed significant poor disease-free survival (DFS) in TNBC patients (p value < 0.05), and may serve as candidate biomarkers in TNBC diagnosis. Thus, our results collectively suggest that BUB1, CCNA2, and PACC1 genes could play important roles in the progression of TNBC and provide attractive therapeutic targets. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

To meet the demands of white noise waves with different and higher energy spectral density, a new white noise wave generation method was proposed and a corresponding wave-making system controlled by a rotary valve was developed. The theoretical model of the new method was established, and the hydraulic transmission function of the wave-making system was solved. After the control parameters of the white noise waves in the wave-making system were obtained, the experiment tests were carried out to generate the white noise waves, and its energy spectral density was analyzed by Fourier analysis. The results show that white noise waves with different amplitudes have different energy spectral densities. And the energy spectral density of the generated waves is approximately a constant. Therefore, the present white noise wave generation method is feasible in marine engineering tests, and the wave with variable amplitude and higher energy spectral density can be generated. Background. It has been reported that there may be a potential link between hernia and dementia. However, the exact mechanisms of their association have not been established. This study is aimed at constructing miRNA-mRNA networks to elucidate on the potential link between dementia and hernia. Methods. Gene expression profiles for dementia, herniation, and skeletal muscle were downloaded from the GEO database after which differentially expressed mRNAs and miRNAs were obtained. In addition, fascia tissue samples were obtained during surgery. A total of 41 patients were recruited in this study, and expression levels of candidate genes were examined using quantitative RT-PCR. Luciferase reporter gene assays were used to identify potential miRNA-mRNA regulatory pathways. Results. Differentially expressed mRNAs and miRNAs were screened. A potential miRNA-mRNA network revealing the crosstalk mechanism between herniation and dementia was identified. Single cell analysis revealed that PI16 was highly enriched in adipose tissues, skeletal muscles, and in the skin. GSEA enrichment analysis showed that PI16 is involved in adipose metabolism, muscle functions, and energy metabolism. In clinical samples, PI16 was found to be upregulated in hernia, while miR-4451 was found to be downregulated. The luciferase reporter gene assay revealed that downregulation of circulating miR-4451 may be responsible for the upregulated PI16 expression in hernia sacs. Conclusions. We constructed an miRNA-mRNA network that shows the potential association between dementia and hernia. As one of the research hotspots in the field of speech recognition, content-based speech retrieval algorithms can detect speech information with the same content features, which improves computer intelligence while reducing labor costs, and thus have been widely used. Although most of the current speech content retrieval algorithms can guarantee excellent retrieval performance for small-scale speech retrieval work, the performance of the above algorithms is greatly reduced under the constraints of large speech data storage space and high content redundancy. In order to solve the above problems, a high-performance speech BioHashing retrieval algorithm based on audio segmentation is proposed in this paper. The algorithm is divided into an offline pre-processing phase and an online retrieval phase, The offline pre-processing stage converts the speech data into BioHashing sequences with speech content characteristics. In this process, first of all, the Power-Normalized Cepstral Coefficients (PNCC) features of the speech data are extracted and biometric templates with single mapping keys are constructed according to the PNCC features, obtaining BioHashing sequences. Then, slice the original speeches into short-time audio segments according to the proposed audio segmentation algorithm, and the hash reconstruction operation is performed on the BioHashing sequences to obtain the reconstructed Hashing sequences for online retrieval. The online search phase responds to the users' query requests, just find the hash index that matches the query hash sequence from the BioHashing index table, and will the standardized editing distance (SED) to the closest 1 value corresponding to the hash index as the retrieval result back to the user. The experimental results show that the reconstructed hash sequences obtained after removing the silent redundant segments have better robustness and discrimination. In this study, we have described a novel reaction between 1,4-enynyl-3-ols and alkyl bromides. The reaction was carried out in the presence of Ag 2 O, following a free radical 1,2-alkynyl migration pathway, which was confirmed through control experiments. This methodology offers several advantages, including high efficiency and a wide range of applicable substrates. A novel alkynylation/alkylation reaction between 1,4-enynyl-3-ols and alkyl bromides was herein described. The Ag 2 O-mediated transformation proceeded in a free radical 1,2-alkynyl migration pathway, which was verified by the control reactions. Background and objective: For high-risk elderly patients with chronic diseases, endoscopic stone removal for large common bile duct stones is associated with a high risk of adverse events and incomplete stone removal. The aim of this study was to investigate whether the treatment strategy of short-term biliary plastic stent placement followed by elective endoscopic stone removal is more effective and safer than immediate endoscopic stone removal. Methods: The data of 262 high-risk elderly patients who received endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) for large common bile duct (CBD) stones from 2017 to 2022 were retrospectively analyzed. The patients were divided into group A (immediate stone removal) and group B (stent drainage + elective stone removal). The baseline data of the 2 groups were matched 1:1 by propensity score matching. The stone clearance rate, ERCP procedure time, total hospital stay, and procedure-related adverse events were compared between the matched groups. In group B, stone size before and after stent placement, hospital stay, procedure time and adverse events of two ERCPs were compared. Results: A total of 57 pairs of patients were successfully matched between the 2 groups. The stone clearance rate in group B was higher than that in group A (89.5% vs. 75.3, P = 0.049). The total hospital stay in group B was longer than that in group A (11.86 ± 3.912 d vs. 19.14 ± 3.176 d, P<0.001). The total adverse event rate in group A was higher than that in group B (29.8% vs. 12.3%, P = 0.005). The incidence of cholangitis/cholecystitis after ERCP was significantly higher in group A than in group B (7.0% vs. 0.9% P = 0.029). There was no significant difference in the incidence of post-ERCP pancreatitis, bleeding, pneumonia, and cardio-cerebrovascular events between the 2 groups. There were no perforation cases in either group. After plastic biliary stent placement in group B, the stone size was significantly smaller than before stent placement (1.59 ± 0.544 cm vs. 1.95 ± 0.543 cm, P < 0.001), and there was no significant difference in the total adverse event incidence between the two ERCP procedures (18.8% vs. 10.9%, P = 0.214). Conclusion: For high-risk elderly patients with large CBD stones, the treatment strategy involving temporary placement of plastic stent and elective endoscopic stone removal is safer and more effective than immediate stone removal. The specific pathophysiological pathways through which diabetes exacerbates myocardial ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury remain unclear; however, dysregulation of immune and inflammatory cells, potentially driven by abnormalities in their number and function due to diabetes, may play a significant role. In the present investigation, we simulated myocardial I/R injury by inducing ischemia through ligation of the left anterior descending coronary artery in mice for 40 min, followed by reperfusion for 24 h. Previous studies have indicated that protein kinase Cβ (PKCβ) is upregulated under hyperglycemic conditions and is implicated in the development of various diabetic complications. The Y4 RNA fragment is identified as the predominant small RNA component present in the extracellular vesicles of cardio sphere-derived cells (CDCs), exhibiting notable anti-inflammatory properties in the contexts of myocardial infarction and cardiac hypertrophy. Our investigation revealed that the administration of Y4 RNA into the ventricular cavity of db/db mice following myocardial I/R injury markedly enhanced cardiac function. Furthermore, Y4 RNA was observed to facilitate M2 macrophage polarization and interleukin-10 secretion through the suppression of PKCβ activation. The mechanism by which Y4 RNA affects PKCβ by regulating macrophage activation within the inflammatory environment involves the inhibition of ERK1/2 phosphorylation In our study, the role of PKCβ in regulating macrophage polarization during myocardial I/R injury was investigated through the use of PKCβ knockout mice. Our findings indicate that PKCβ plays a crucial role in modulating the inflammatory response associated with macrophage activation in db/db mice experiencing myocardial I/R, with a notable exacerbation of this response observed upon significant upregulation of PKCβ expression. In vitro studies further elucidated the protective mechanism by which Y4 RNA modulates the PKCβ/ERK1/2 signaling pathway to induce M2 macrophage activation. Overall, our findings suggest that Y4 RNA plays an anti-inflammatory role in diabetic I/R injury, suggesting a novel therapeutic approach for managing myocardial I/R injury in diabetic individuals. Parents confront multiple aspects of offspring demands and need to coordinate different parental care tasks. Biparental care is considered to evolve under circumstances where one parent is not competent for all tasks and cannot efficiently raise offspring. However, this hypothesis is difficult to test, as uniparental and biparental care rarely coexist. Chinese penduline tits (Remiz consobrinus) provide such a system where both parental care types occur. Here, we experimentally investigated whether parents in biparental nests are less capable of caring than parents in uniparental nests. We monitored parenting efforts at (1) naturally uniparental and biparental nests and (2) biparental nests before and during the temporary removal of a parent. Given the relatively small sample sizes, we have employed various statistical analyses confirming the robustness of our results. We found that total feeding frequency and brooding duration were similar for natural uniparental and biparental nests. Feeding frequency, but not brooding duration, contributed significantly to nestling mass. In line with this, a temporary parental removal revealed that the remaining parents at biparental nests fully compensated for the partner's feeding absence but not for brooding duration. This reflects that the manipulated parents are confronted with a trade‐off between feeding and brooding and were selected to invest in the more influential one. However, such a trade‐off may not occur in parents of natural uniparental care nests. The different capabilities of a parent independently coordinating feeding and brooding tasks suggest that parents from biparental and uniparental nests were exposed to different resource conditions, thereby foraging efficiency may differ between care types. Bioproducts are chemicals derived from renewable biological resources and have the potential to replace petrochemicals in the future to tackle the arising environmental problems. Among them, lactic acid (LaA) is attracting significant focus from both academia and industry due to its wide application in our daily life. In this study, lactic acid is produced from the chemo-catalytic converting the glucose over the homogeneous ErCl 3 catalyst in an aqueous solution. The highest LaA yield of 97% was obtained at a full glucose conversion on this homogeneous catalyst at 260 °C through process optimization. Furthermore, the techno-economic analysis (TEA) was leveraged for the concept design of LaA biorefineries. Three parameters, namely the selling price of LaA, the price of glucose, and the catalyst recyclability were identified for the overall profit. Therefore, this work highlights the notable ability of TEA for the concept design or simulation to screen the promising biorefinery industrial process, and intuitively provide us with the internal rate of return of a certain chemical process. Thus, this work is supposed to provide the feasibility of LaA acid production from a chemo-catalytic process from both the technical and scientific points of view. Catalytic converting the lignin-derived bio-oil to liquid fuel is one promising methodology to reduce the dependence on petroleum-based fuel while easing the atmospheric carbon dioxide burden. Hydrodeoxygenation (HDO) is one commonly used method to convert and upgrade bio-oil from biomass. In the present work, a Ru-promoted MoFeP/Al 2 O 3 catalyst was prepared and evaluated the HDO performance by converting two model compounds, guaiacol and anisole with a batch reactor at 250 °C. This catalyst shows a quite good HDO performance over the two model compounds, in which, oxygen was removed from the phenolic and hydrocarbons were produced as the product. Kinetic studies were also performed to build the reaction network and elucidate the reaction pathway of guaiacol and anisole HDO reactions. The primary, secondary, and tertiary products can be identified for the HDO reactions. A better understanding of HDO chemistry from the fundamental study can lead to more efficient catalysts for the target products. A theoretical research of structural evolution, electronic properties, and photoelectron spectra of selenium-doped boron clusters SeBn0/− (n = 3–16) is performed using particle swarm optimization (CALYPSO) software in combination with density functional theory calculations. The lowest energy structures of SeBn0/− (n = 3–16) clusters tend to form quasi-planar or planar structures. Some selenium-doped boron clusters keep a skeleton of the corresponding pure boron clusters; however, the addition of a Se atom modified and improved some of the pure boron cluster structures. In particular, the Se atoms of SeB7−, SeB8−, SeB10−, and SeB12− are connected to the pure quasi-planar B7−, B8−, B10−, and B12− clusters, which leads to planar SeB7−, SeB8−, SeB10−, and SeB12−, respectively. Interestingly, the lowest energy structure of SeB9− is a three-dimensional mushroom-shaped structure, and the SeB9− cluster displays the largest HOMO–LUMO gap of 5.08 eV, which shows the superior chemical stability. Adaptive natural density partitioning (AdNDP) bonding analysis reveals that SeB8 is doubly aromatic, with 6 delocalized π electrons and 6 delocalized σ electrons, whereas SeB9− is doubly antiaromatic, with 4 delocalized π electrons and 12 delocalized σ electrons. Similarly, quasi-planar SeB12 is doubly aromatic, with 6 delocalized π electrons and 14 delocalized σ electrons. The electron localization function (ELF) analysis shows that SeBn0/− (n = 3–16) clusters have different local electron delocalization and whole electron delocalization effects. The simulated photoelectron spectra of SeBn− (n = 3–16) have different characteristic bands that can identify and confirm SeBn− (n = 3–16) combined with future experimental photoelectron spectra. Refractory high-entropy alloys are considered as potential structural materials for elevated temperature applications. To obtain refractory high-entropy alloys with high strength, different amounts of Si were added into the NbMoTiVW refractory high-entropy alloys. The effects of Si on the phase constitution, microstructure characteristics and mechanical properties of NbMoTiVWSix alloys were investigated. Results show that when the addition of Si is 0, 0.025 and 0.05 (molar ratio), the alloys are consisted of primary BCC and secondary BCC in the intergranular area. When the addition of Si is increased to 0.075 and 0.1, eutectic structure including silicide phase and secondary BCC phase is formed. The primary BCC phase shows dendritic morphology, and is refined by adding Si. The volume fraction of intergranular area is increased from 12.22% to 18.13% when the addition of Si increases from 0 to 0.1. The ultimate compressive strength of the NbMoTiVW alloy is improved from 2,242 MPa to 2,532 MPa. Its yield strength is also improved by the addition of Si, and the yield strength of NbMoTiVWSi0.1 reaches maximum of 2,298 MPa. However, the fracture strain of the alloy is decreased from 15.31% to 12.02%. The fracture mechanism of the alloys is changed from mixed fracture of ductile and quasi-cleavage to cleavage fracture with increasing of Si. The strengthening of alloys is attributed to the refinement of primary BCC phase, volume fraction increment of secondary BCC phase, and formation of eutectic structure by addition of Si. Polycarbonate (PC) has been widely applied in aerospace and railway industries, and it is imperative to improve its fire safety related properties, especially heat release properties. Particularly, the MARHE value (maximum average rate of heat emission) directly obtained from the cone calorimeter (CONE) test is a comprehensive property that is presented in the EN45545-2 standard developed by the EU. In order to study the effect of flame retardants on the MARHE of polycarbonate, four flame retardants with different flame retardant mechanisms were used to prepare low heat release PC. CONE was used to characterize the heat release performance of PC, focusing on exploring the factors affecting MARHE and the method of preparing low heat release materials. The flame-retardant mechanism of PC was studied by SEM and TG/DTG. Meanwhile, the flame retardant index (FRI) is calculated as a reference for the flame retardant performance of PC. Results show the MARHE of HPCTP/PC is reduced by 31.12%, and it is confirmed that MARHE is influenced by time to ignition (TTI), peak heat release rate (PHRR), total heat release rate (THR), and the shape of the peak. Mica-RDP/PC materials were prepared based on the conclusions of MARHE derivation. RDP and Mica play a typical synergistic flame-retardant mechanism, with MARHE reductions from 20.31% to 20.00% of the single-component systems to 31.39%. Green tea and its food-grade extracts are widely used in food technology because of their rich chemical composition. Our previous study found that dynamic extraction tea extract exhibited higher quality than conventional extraction methods. Thus, the objective of this study was to develop a high-efficiency, dynamic extraction method to improve extraction efficiency and the sensory quality of green tea. The effects of dynamic extraction conditions on the chemical composition and sensory quality of green tea extract were investigated with sensory and physicochemical analysis. Extraction temperature and flow rate strongly affected the taste of green tea extract. The tea extracts were obtained with high-umami or high yield by optimized extraction conditions. The triphasic dynamic (column) extraction yield was improved by 11.22% compared with the static extraction. Background: The proximal femoral nail anti-rotation (PFNA) with cement enhancement enhances the anchorage ability of internal fixation in elderly with osteoporotic intertrochanteric fracture. However, whether it is superior to hemiarthroplasty is still controversial. The present study aimed to determine which treatment has better clinical outcomes among older patients. Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 102 elderly patients with osteoporosis who developed intertrochanteric fractures and underwent PFNA combined with cement-enhanced internal fixation (n = 52, CE group), and hemiarthroplasty (n = 50, HA group) from September 2012 to October 2018. All the intertrochanteric fractures were classified according to the AO/OTA classification. Additionally, the operative time, intraoperative blood loss, intraoperative and postoperative blood transfusion rates, postoperative weight-bearing time, hospitalization time, Barthel Index of Activities Daily Living, Harris score of hip function, visual analog (VAS) pain score, and postoperative complications were compared between the two groups. Results: The CE group had significantly shorter operative time, lesser intraoperative blood loss, lower blood transfusion rate, and longer postoperative weight-bearing time than the HA group. The CE group had lower Barthel's Index of Activities of Daily Living, lower Harris' score, and higher VAS scores in the first and third months after surgery than the HA group, but no difference was observed between the two groups from 6 months to 12 months. There was no significant difference in the total post-operative complications between the two groups. Conclusion: The use of PFNA combined with a cement-enhanced internal fixation technique led to shorter operative time and lesser intraoperative blood loss and trauma in elderly patients as compared to HA. Background: Computed tomography (CT) image integration is of limited use in left ventricular (LV) ablation due to inadequate accuracy of registration. The current study aimed to investigate the accuracy and feasibility of extra-cavity LV image registration via the coronary cusp. Methods: Consecutive patients were enrolled as the validation group (n = 41) and feasibility group (n = 48). After extra-cavity registration via the aortic root, the LV anatomy derived from CT image was activated and moved into real space. Accuracy of LV anatomy via this registration method was verified by intracardiac echocardiography reconstruction in the validation group and tested further in the feasibility group via measuring the location differences (<3 mm) and volume difference (<8 mL). Results: In validation group, the LV volume of CT image and ICE map were comparable (113.6 ± 15.5 mL vs. 109.0 ± 15.3 mL, P = .27), and the location difference was 3.1 ± 1.1 mm at LV summit, 1.8 ± 0.9 mm at the free wall, and 1.8 ± 0.7 mm at the LV apex. There was a mean of 2.9 ± 1.2 mm and 3.0 ± 1.0 mm length difference in anterior PM and posterior PM, the position difference of the PM's base was 2.8 ± 0.9 mm for anterior PM and 2.2 ± 0.9 mm for posterior PM. In feasibility group, the distance differences of LV summit, LV septum, LV apex, and LV free averaged 1.8 ± 0.8 mm, 1.5 ± 0.7 mm, 1.4 ± 0.6 mm, 1.3 ± 0.7 mm, respectively. Compared with validation group, acute success (100% vs. 96.5%, P = .51), complications rate (4.9% vs. 2.0%, P = 0.59) and fluoroscopic time (1.6 ± 1.1 vs. 1.9 ± 1.6 minutes, P = .30) exhibited no significant difference, but was significantly reduced with procedure time (74.5 ± 8.1 vs. 61.2 ± 9.5 minutes, P < .001) with CT image registration only. At present, the mechanism of varietal differences in cadmium (Cd) accumulation in rice is not well understood. Two rice cultivars, ZZY (high translocation-high grain Cd) and SJ18 (low translocation-low grain Cd), were used to analyze transcriptome differences in the spike-neck tissue in field trials. The results showed that, compared with ZZY, 22,367 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were identified in SJ18, including 2941 upregulated and 19,426 downregulated genes. GO analysis enriched 59 downregulated terms, concerning 24 terms enriched for more than 1000 DEGs, including cellular and metabolic processes, biological regulation, localization, catalytic activity, transporter activity, signaling, etc. KEGG enrichment identified 21 significant downregulated pathways, regarding the ribosome, metabolic pathways, biosynthesis of secondary metabolism, signaling transduction, cell membrane and cytoskeleton synthesis, genetic information transfer, amino acid synthesis, etc. Weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA) revealed that these DEGs could be clustered into five modules. Among them, the yellow module was significantly related to SJ18 with hub genes related to OsHMA and OsActin, whereas the brown module was significantly related to ZZY with hub genes related to mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK), CBS, and glutaredoxin. This suggests that different mechanisms are involved in the process of spike-neck–grain Cd translocation among varieties. The oncogene RAS, extensively studied for decades, presents persistent gaps in understanding, hindering the development of effective therapeutic strategies due to a lack of precise details on how RAS initiates MAPK signaling with RAF effector proteins at the plasma membrane. Recent advances in X-ray crystallography, cryo-EM, and super-resolution fluorescence microscopy offer structural and spatial insights, yet the molecular mechanisms involving protein-protein and protein-lipid interactions in RAS-mediated signaling require further characterization. This study utilizes single-molecule experimental techniques, nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, and the computational Machine-Learned Modeling Infrastructure (MuMMI) to examine KRAS4b and RAF1 on a biologically relevant lipid bilayer. MuMMI captures long-timescale events while preserving detailed atomic descriptions, providing testable models for experimental validation. Both in vitro and computational studies reveal that RBDCRD binding alters KRAS lateral diffusion on the lipid bilayer, increasing cluster size and decreasing diffusion. RAS and membrane binding cause hydrophobic residues in the CRD region to penetrate the bilayer, stabilizing complexes through β-strand elongation. Lithium–rich cathodes have excess lithium in the transition metal layer and exhibit an extremely high specific capacity and good energy density. However, they still have some disadvantages. Here, we propose LiCoMnO4, a new nanolayer coating material with a spinel structure, to modify the surface of lithium cathode oxide (Li7/6Mn1/2Ni1/6Co1/6O2) with a layered structure. The designed cathode with nanolayer spinel coating delivers an excellent reversible capacity, outstanding rate capability, and superior cycling ability whilst exhibiting discharge capacities of 300, 275, 220, and 166 mAh g−1 at rates of 0.1 C at 2.0−4.8 V formation and 0.1, 1, and 5 C, respectively, between 2.0 and 4.6 V. The cycling ability and voltage fading at a high operational voltage of 4.9 V were also investigated, with results showing that the nanolayer spinel coating can depress the surface of the lithium cathode oxide layer, leading to phase transformation that enhances the electrochemical performance. Three new cadinane-type sesquiterpenoid dimeric diastereomers (1 – 3) named hibisceusones A-C were obtained from the infected stems of Hibiscus tiliaceus. The structures were determined by NMR spectroscopy and MS techniques, and the absolute configurations were assigned by ECD and single-crystal X-ray diffraction techniques. Compounds 1 – 3 are diastereomers, and contain a 1,4-dioxane ring linearly fused to different cadinane-type polycyclic skeletons. This is the first time that such a structure has been identified in natural products. Compounds 1 – 3 exhibited cytotoxic activities, and 2 showed a significantly high anti-triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) effect. The anti-cancer effect of compound 2 was 3–4 fold higher than that of 1 and 3. Although the relationships of cerebrovascular hemodynamic dysfunction with neurodegenerative diseases remain unclear, many studies have indicated that poor cerebral perfusion accelerates the progression of neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer's disease (AD). Small animal models are widely used in AD research. However, providing an imaging modality with a high spatiotemporal resolution and sufficiently large field of view to assess cerebrovascular hemodynamics in vivo remains a challenge. The present study proposes a novel technique for high‐spatiotemporal‐resolution vector micro‐Doppler imaging (HVμDI) based on contrast‐free ultrafast high frequency ultrasound imaging to visualize the cerebrovascular hemodynamics of the mouse, with a data acquisition time of 0.4 s, a minimal detectable vessel size of 38 µm, and a temporal resolution of 500 Hz. In vivo experiments are conducted on wild‐type and AD mice. Cerebrovascular hemodynamics are quantified using the cerebral vascular density, diameter, velocity, tortuosity, cortical flow pulsatility, and instant flow direction variations. Results reveal that AD significantly change the cerebrovascular hemodynamics. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are a class of small, endogenous, noncoding RNAs. Recent research has proven that miRNAs play an essential role in the occurrence and development of ischemic stroke. Our previous studies confirmed that 20(R)-ginsenosideRg3 [20(R)-Rg3] exerts beneficial effects on cerebral ischemia–reperfusion injury (CIRI), but its molecular mechanism has not been elucidated. In this study, we used high-throughput sequencing to investigate the differentially expressed miRNA and mRNA expression profiles of 20(R)-Rg3 preconditioning to ameliorate CIRI injury in rats and to reveal its potential neuroprotective molecular mechanism. The results show that 20(R)-Rg3 alleviated neurobehavioral dysfunction in MCAO/R-treated rats. Among these mRNAs, 953 mRNAs were significantly upregulated and 2602 mRNAs were downregulated in the model group versus the sham group, whereas 437 mRNAs were significantly upregulated and 35 mRNAs were downregulated in the 20(R)-Rg3 group in contrast with those in the model group. Meanwhile, the expression profile of the miRNAs showed that a total of 283 differentially expressed miRNAs were identified, of which 142 miRNAs were significantly upregulated and 141 miRNAs were downregulated in the model group compared with the sham group, whereas 34 miRNAs were differentially expressed in the 20(R)-Rg3 treatment group compared with the model group, with 28 miRNAs being significantly upregulated and six miRNAs being significantly downregulated. Furthermore, 415 (391 upregulated and 24 downregulated) differentially expressed mRNAs and 22 (17 upregulated and 5 downregulated) differentially expressed miRNAs were identified to be related to 20(R)-Rg3′s neuroprotective effect on stroke recovery. The Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) results showed that 20(R)-Rg3 could modulate multiple signaling pathways related to these differential miRNAs, such as the cGMP-PKG, cAMP and MAPK signaling pathways. This study provides new insights into the protective mechanism of 20(R)-Rg3 against CIRI, and the mechanism may be partly associated with the regulation of brain miRNA expression and its target signaling pathways. Simple Summary: Fall armyworm (FAW), Spodoptera frugiperda (J E Smith) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) is an invasive worldwide agricultural pest that seriously threatens the safety of grain production. Temperatures and hosts play vital roles in the performance of S. frugiperda. In this study, we studied the effects of three different temperatures (20, 25, and 30 °C) and three different host plants (maize (Zea mays L. (Poaceae)), sorghum (Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench), and coix seed (Coix lacryma-jobi L.)) on the whole life cycle of S. frugiperda. The results showed that both temperatures and host plants significantly influenced the mortality, developmental time, reproduction, and population parameters of FAW. In the treatment with host plants, the developmental period of S. frugiperda at each stage shortened significantly with the increasing of temperatures. At each temperature, the type of host plant did not affect the development time of S. frugiperda eggs. However, there was no significant difference when S. frugiperda 1st to 6th instar larvae were fed different host plants at 20 °C, while 2nd to 5th instar larvae developed rapidly on maize at 25 and 30 °C. Moreover, there were no significant differences in the longevity of FAW when fed sorghum and coix seed at 20 and 25 °C, but a significant difference in the longevity was observed at 30 °C. Feeding on maize achieved a higher intrinsic rate of increase (r), finite rate of increase (λ), and net reproductive rate (R0) of S. frugiperda at 25 and 30 °C than those FAW fed on sorghum and coix seed. The interactions between ambient temperatures and host plants are central to the population dynamics of invasive animal species. Despite significant research into the effects of temperatures, the performance of invasive species is also influenced by host plants. The effects of different temperatures (20, 25, and 30 °C) and host plants (maize, sorghum, and coix seed) were tested on the mortality, development, reproduction, and population parameters of the fall armyworm (FAW), Spodoptera frugiperda (J E Smith) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae), using an age-stage, two-sex life table. The results support the hypothesis that temperature and the species of the host plant significantly influences the performance of FAW. Feeding on maize at 30 °C resulted in a lower mortality rate, a shorter developmental time and longevity, a higher fecundity, intrinsic rate of natural increase (r), finite rate of increase (λ), and net reproductive rate (R0). However, at 20 °C, the host plant could eliminate temperature-mediated synergism in FAW performance, which did not reach statistical significance at 20 °C. Similar results induced by a relatively low temperature (20 °C) on different host plants were also found in the age-stage specific survival curves (sxj), fecundity (mx), maternity (lxmx), and reproductive value (vxj) curves of FAW. In the present study, an evaporative cooling test system consisting of an elliptical-heat exchanger was examined. Tests were conducted for various airflow rates of 52, 68, 81, 96 Cubic Meter per Minute (CMM), sprinkler water flow rates of 30, 40, 50 Liter per Minute (LPM), and hot water flow rates of 18, 22, 28 LPM. The sprinkle nozzle types and outside wet-bulb temperatures were also investigated. The convective heat transfer of the sprinkle water film outside the tubes and the mass transfer between air and water film on tube bundles were probed. The film thickness and sprinkle water picture were studied using high-speed cameras and image processing techniques. The results show that the mass transfer performance of the evaporative cooler was enhanced with the growth of the airflow rate. When the sprinkler water flow rate rose to 50 LPM, the heat-mass transfer coefficient of the evaporative cooler decreased since the water film on the tube was thickened. The low hot water flow rate at the tube side (18 LPM) resulted in a superior performance due to a high local temperature and improved local mass transfer. Herein, the influences of temperature, MgCl 2 addition, and carrier gas on the removal of Cu and Zn and P recovery during SS pyrolysis were studied. The results indicated that the removal efficiencies of Cu and Zn exhibited different tendencies in the presence of CO 2 and N 2. The removal of Zn in N 2 was higher than that in CO 2 and increased at elevated temperatures; moreover, it was sensitive to chloride addition at 800 and 900 °C during pyrolysis under CO 2. The atmosphere had a significant effect on Cu removal. The maximum removal efficiency was only 27.91 % when SS was treated under N 2 , which remarkably increased after chloride addition under CO 2 at 900 °C, reaching 85.96 %. Additionally, the mineral phase compositions and transformations treated under different process conditions were investigated. Ca 5 (PO 4) 3 Cl and Mg 3 (PO 4) 2 were the main P-bearing phases in the sludge treated with chloride addition, irrespective of the atmosphere, except for the product obtained at 900 °C under CO 2 , in which Mg 3 (PO 4) 2 was replaced by Ca(PO 3) 2. The gradual transformation from magnesium phosphate to calcium phosphate during pyrolysis affected P recovery and bioavailability. In this study, a simple one-pot solvothermal strategy is proposed to prepare an amino-functionalized MOF (aU(Zr/In)) featuring an amino-functionalizing ligand linker and In-doped Zr-oxo clusters, which enables efficient CO 2 reduction driven with visible light. The amino functionalization leads to a significant reduction of E g as well as a charge redistribution of the framework, allowing the absorption of visible light and the efficient separation of photogenerated carriers. Furthermore, the incorporation of In not only promotes the LMCT process by creating oxygen vacancies in Zr-oxo clusters, but also greatly lowers the energy barrier of the intermediates for CO 2 -to-CO conversion. With the synergistic effects of the amino groups and the In dopants, the optimized aU(Zr/In) exhibits a CO production rate of 37.58 ± 1.06 μmol g-1 h−1, outperforming the isostructural University of Oslo-66- and Material of Institute Lavoisier-125-based photocatalysts. In this work, we regulated both the size regimes of the Ir deposits (single atom, nanocluster and nanoparticle) and the crystal plane of anatase TiO 2 (TiO 2 (1 0 1), TiO 2 (1 0 0) and TiO 2 (0 0 1)) so as to alter the Ir-TiO x interfacial properties, in order to unravel reaction mechanism of selective hydrogenation of crotonaldehyde over the Ir/TiO 2 catalysts. Both the activity and selectivity to crotyl alcohol increased as the Ir size grew from single atom to nanoparticle, ascribed to high Ir0 content, high concentration of surface defects and prominent H-spillover effect on the Ir nanoparticles. Moreover, the in situ Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and density functional theory (DFT) calculations demonstrated that an end-on C O adsorption mode for crotonaldehyde molecule was favored at the Ir-TiO x interface particularly at high H coverage, which thus facilitated the hydrogenation of C O bond to form crotyl alcohol. Moreover, the highest reactivity of the Ir nanoparticles was evidenced by the lowest reaction barrier. These results explicitly demonstrate that larger metal nanoparticles and adsorption geometry of the reactant at the metal - support interface are vital for improved catalytic performance, which would shed light on the ingenious catalyst design. The purpose of the study was to investigate the relationship between postoperative bone marrow lesions (BMLs) and pain severity in patients undergoing open wedge high tibial osteotomy (OWHTO). We reviewed the patients undergoing OWHTO between April 2018 and April 2020. The demographic and clinical data of patients were collected. Clinically, VAS and Knee injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS) were used to assess pain level and functional outcomes of patients. The MRI Osteoarthritis Knee Score (MOAKS) was used to assess the total BMLs size in medial tibiofemoral (MTF), lateral tibiofemoral (LTF), and patellofemoral (PF) joints. 98 patients were enrolled in the study, including 57 male and 41 female patients. The VAS scores improved significantly from 6.1 ± 0.8 to 1.5 ± 0.9 (p < 0.001), and all subscales of KOOS improved significantly after surgery (p < 0.001). There were no significant differences between the pre- and postoperative total BML size of PF and LTF joints (p > 0.05). We observed significant improvements in the total BML size of MTF joint (p < 0.001). The VAS scores and KOOS pain scores improved better in patients without postoperative MTF joint BMLs (p < 0.001). Postoperative MTF joint BMLs were correlated with postoperative VAS (p < 0.001) and KOOS pain (p < 0.001). Our study demonstrates that MTF joint BMLs improved significantly after OWTHO. We confirmed that the presence of postoperative MTF joint BMLs are strongly associated with pain severity. The greater the improvement in postoperative MTF joint BMLs, the less pain. The 3d transition metal-catalyzed cyclization of enynes provides a sustainable and useful strategy for the construction of cyclic compounds. Controlling the regioselectivity is a central challenge for the hydrofunctionalization of multiply unsaturated substrates such as 1,6-enynes. Herein, we report a computational mechanistic study of the cobalt-catalyzed hydroboration/cyclization of 1,6-enynes in the presence of three representative ligands including bidentate nitrogen ligand and phosphine ligand as well as tridentate nitrogen-based ligand. A detailed analysis is carried out on the ligand-substrate interactions to understand the effect of ligand coordination on the mechanism and regioselectivity. Our results indicate that although the initial catalyst-substrate complexes adopt the pseudo-trigonal bipyramidal geometries for the two nitrogen-based ligands, there is a remarkable difference in the free energy surfaces. The steric repulsions and hydrogen bonding interactions between the substrate and the ligand play important roles in regulating the competing migration insertion. Energy decomposition analyses are further performed for the subsequent σ-bond metathesis to illustrate the impacts of steric and electronic effects on the regioselectivity and the electrostatics and orbital interactions are disclosed to be the dominant factors. This work provides a deeper understanding of the specific structural and electronic properties of the cobalt complexes and their potential influences on the reactivity and selectivity. Background: Mesenchymal stromal cells-derived small extracellular vesicles (MSC-sEVs) have recently attracted considerable attention because of their therapeutic potential in various immune diseases. We previously reported that MSC-sEVs could exert immunomodulatory roles in allergic airway inflammation by regulating group 2 innate lymphoid cell (ILC2) and dendritic cell (DC) functions. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the indirect effects of MSC-sEVs on ILC2s from patients with allergic rhinitis (AR) via DCs. Methods: Here, we isolated sEVs from induced pluripotent stem cells-MSCs using anion-exchange chromatography and mature DCs (mDCs) were treated with MSC-sEVs. sEV-mDCs were co-cultured with peripheral blood mononuclear cells from patients with AR or purified ILC2s. The levels of IL-13 and GATA3 in ILC2s were examined by flow cytometry. Bulk RNA sequence for mDCs and sEV-mDCs was employed to further probe the potential mechanisms, which were then validated in the co-culture systems. Results: sEV-mDCs showed impaired capacity in priming the levels of IL-13 and GATA3 in ILC2s when compared with mDCs. Furthermore, there was higher PGE2 and IL-10 production from sEV-mDCs, and the blockade of them especially the former one reversed the inhibitory effects of sEV-mDCs. Conclusions: We demonstrated that MSC-sEVs were able to dampen the activating effects of mDCs on ILC2s in patients with AR. Mechanismly, the PGE2-EP2/4 axis played an essential role in the immunomodulatory effects of sEV-mDCs on ILC2s. Black‐headed penduline tit (Remiz macronyx) is a poorly known bird species mainly distributed in Iran, Turkmenistan, and Kazakhstan. The distribution of black‐headed penduline tit is disjointed and fragmented, and it occurs only along lakes or rivers surrounded by extensive reedbeds. Four subspecies of R. macronyx have been recognized (macronyx, neglectus, nigricans, and ssaposhnikowi). The ssaposhnikowi subspecies was previously known to occur only around lakes in southeastern Kazakhstan. In this study, we reported the first confirmed breeding record of R. m. ssaposhnikowi in the Nalati wetland, Ili, Xinjiang, China, extending the distribution range of the black‐headed penduline tit by 350 km to the east. We also obtained new information about the morphology and breeding behavior of R. m. ssaposhnikowi, which can be useful for the taxonomy of penduline tits, especially in distinguishing black‐headed penduline tits from Eurasian penduline tits (R. pendulinus). Fine constructing the chemical environment of the central metal is vital in developing efficient single-atom catalysts (SACs). Herein, the atomically dispersed Cu on the N-doped carbon is modulated by introducing Cu-P moiety to Cu-N-C SAC. Through fine-tuning with another heteroatom P, the Cu SAC shows the superior performance of ethylene oxychlorination. The Cu site activity of Cu-NPC is four times higher than the P-free Cu-NC catalyst and 25 times higher than the Ce-promoted CuCl2/Al2O3 catalyst in the long-term test (>200 h). The selectivity of ethylene dichloride can be splendidly kept at ≈99%. Combined experimental and simulation studies provide a theoretical framework for the coordination of Cu, N, and P in the complex active center and its role in effectively catalyzing ethylene oxychlorination. It integrates the oxidation and chlorination reactions with superior catalytic performance and unrivaled ability of corrosive-HCl resistance. The concept of fine constructing with another heteroatom is anticipated to provide with inspiration for rational catalyst design and expand the applications of carbon-based SACs in heterogeneous catalysis. Abnormal blood pressure is common in critically ill stroke patients. However, the association between mean arterial pressure (MAP) and mortality of critically ill stroke patients remains unclear. We extracted eligible acute stroke patients from the MIMIC-III database. The patients were divided into three groups: a low MAP group (MAP ≤ 70 mmHg), a normal MAP group (70 mmHg < MAP ≤ 90 mmHg), and a high MAP group (MAP > 90 mmHg). The Cox proportional hazards model and restricted cubic splines were used to assess the association between MAP and mortality. Sensitivity analyses were conducted to investigate whether MAP had different effects on mortality in different subpopulations. A total of 2885 stroke patients were included in this study. The crude 7-day and 28-day mortality was significantly higher in the low MAP group than that in the normal MAP group. By contrast, patients in the high MAP group did not have higher crude 7-day and 28-day mortality than those in the normal MAP group. After multiple adjustments using the Cox regression model, patients with low MAP were consistently associated with higher 7-day and 28-day mortality than those with normal MAP in the following subgroups: age > 60 years, male, those with or without hypertension, those without diabetes, and those without CHD (p < 0.05), but patients with high MAP were not necessarily associated with higher 7-day and 28-day mortality after adjustments (most p > 0.05). Using the restricted cubic splines, an approximately L-shaped relationship was established between MAP and the 7-day and 28-day mortality in acute stroke patients. The findings were robust to multiple sensitivity analyses in stroke patients. In critically ill stroke patients, a low MAP significantly increased the 7-day and 28-day mortality, while a high MAP did not, suggesting that a low MAP is more harmful than a high MAP in critically ill stroke patients. An efficient S-scheme photocatalyst based on 3D flower-like Fe-doped In 2 S 3 /Fe 3 S 4 hetero-microspheres assembled from interconnected nanosheets was synthesized via a facile one-pot solvothermal reaction, which exhibits the enhanced interfacial electric field and boosted visible-light-driven CO 2 reduction. [Display omitted] S-scheme heterojunctions hold great potential for CO 2 photoreduction into solar fuels, but their activities are severely limited by the low efficiency of interfacial charge transfer. In this work, a facile one-pot solvothermal reaction has been developed to dope Fe into flower-like In 2 S 3 /Fe 3 S 4 hetero-microspheres (Fe-In 2 S 3 /Fe 3 S 4 HMSs), which are demonstrated as an efficient S-scheme photocatalyst for visible-light-driven CO 2 photoreduction. The doping of Fe not only reduces the bandgap of In 2 S 3 and thus extends the optical response to the visible-light region, but also increases the densities of donors and sulfur vacancies, which leads to an elevated Fermi level (E f). The difference of E f between In 2 S 3 and Fe 3 S 4 is enlarged and their band bending at the interface is therefore enhanced, which results in promoted carriers transfer in the S-scheme pathway due to the reinforced interfacial electric field. Moreover, Fe-doped In 2 S 3 reduces the formation energy of the *CO intermediate, which thermodynamically favors the CO evolution at the surface. As a result, the Fe-In 2 S 3 /Fe 3 S 4 HMSs exhibit a significantly boosted CO 2 photoreduction activity in comparison with bare In 2 S 3 and Fe-In 2 S 3 samples. CuCl 2 and CuCl have been identified as the primary active sites in the reduction and oxidation step, respectively, according to a redox-type mechanism. The distribution of the active sites is governed by the kinetic equilibrium of the reduction, oxidation, and hydrochlorination rates at steady-state. Herein, in situ X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) and operando ultraviolet–visible and near-infrared spectroscopy (UV–vis-NIR) were utilized to quantify the dynamic changes of the Cu active sites over the La-doped CuCl 2 / γ -Al 2 O 3 in transient and steady-state experiments. A higher CuCl 2 concentration plays a key role in dominating the higher activity, EDC selectivity, and stability. The in situ XAS result evidenced La was considered as a structural additive to increase the reducibility of the active CuCl 2 and modify the catalytic performance instead of directly involving the reduction-oxidation cycle. Aqueous phase reforming (APR) of ethylene glycol was performed at 225 °C and 30 bar in batch and continuous reaction conditions. The effect on the APR performance by functionalizing carbon supports with nitrogen and adding Mn to Pt-based catalysts was investigated. The presence of nitrogen species on the carbon surface and Mn-addition (PtMn) improved the catalytic activity and promoted H 2 production. XPS results suggest that the enhancement of the catalytic activity may be attributed to charge transfer from platinum to the nitrogen groups and Mn. Pt-based catalysts were stable under the studied reaction conditions, while up to 97 % of the manganese leached into the liquid solution during APR. However, the catalytic activity was maintained even with such significant decrease in Mn content, indicating that only a small amount of Mn is necessary to maintain the promotional effect on Pt during APR. A robust superhydrophobic brass mesh was fabricated based on a low-energy surface and a roughness on the nano/micro-meter scale. It was carried out by the forming of hydroxyapatite (HP) coatings on its surface through a constant current electro-deposition process, followed by immersion in fluoroalkylsilane solution. Surface morphology, composition and wetting behavior were investigated by field-emission scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), high speed camera, and contact angle goniometer. Under optimal conditions, the resulting brass mesh exhibited superhydrophobicity, excellent anti-corrosion (η = 91.2%), and anti-scaling properties. While the surfactant liquid droplets of tetradecyl trimethyl ammonium bromide (TTAB) with different concentration were dropped on the superhydrophobic surface, maximum droplet rebounding heights and different contact angles (CAs) were observed and measured from side-view imaging. The plots of surfactant-concentration−maximum bounding height/CA were constructed to determine its critical-micelle-concentration (CMC) value. Close CMC results of 1.91 and 2.32 mM based on the determination of maximum rebounding height and CAs were obtained. Compared with its theoretical value of 2.1 mM, the relative errors are 9% and 10%, respectively. The limitation of isolated metal active sites in single atom catalysts (SAC) hinder their application in hydrogenation reactions, necessitating the creation of additional active site beyond the metal site. This study introduces pyridinic N and S atoms into the N/C sheet, optimally adjusting the local environment of the Co site. This adjustment synergistically enhances H 2 activation, H diffusion, and promotes the hydrogenation of nitrobenzene into aniline. The sterically hindered Co acidic site and N basic site, known as frustrated Lewis pairs, in defect-containing Co-N 3 SN-def1 model cooperatively facilitate the highly efficient cleavage of the H 2 molecule with a barrier of only 0.37 eV. The findings suggest that the pyridinic N site in the Co-N 3 SN-def1 model acts as a reservoir for *H, significantly contributing to the enhanced activity for the hydrogenation of nitrobenzene. DFT calculations and descriptor-based microkinetic analysis have been performed to screen ABO 3 perovskite catalysts for methane partial oxidation. The scaling relations indicate the adsorption energies of H@O and CH 3 @B have the capability of representing the energetics of methane oxidation, and bulk oxygen vacancy formation energy is identified to be a better single descriptor of the kinetics. The resultant volcano-shaped plot shows the catalytic activity varies in the order LaMnO 3 > LaFeO 3 > LaCoO 3 ≈ LaCrO 3 , which agrees with the experimental findings and thus validates our theoretical predications. By screening 667 combinations of A- and B-cations based on electron neutrality, structural tolerance factors, and experimental verification, 77 ABO 3 have been identified to be stable. Of them, SrRuO 3 , SmRhO 3 , LaIrO 3 , NdRhO 3 , and BaOsO 3 are located at the summit of the volcano, which also exhibit satisfactory CO selectivity and enhanced carbon resistance compared to LaFeO 3 , and may act as the oxygen carrier candidates. Catalytic conversion of cellulose to diols is an attractive approach in the valorization of biomass, because of the high atom efficiency of the reaction process. The work here highlights the potential of cellulose as a renewable feedstock to produce value-added chemicals, especially vicinal diols. The catalytic conversion of cellulose in water on Ni-Cu/4ZnO-CNT catalyst is discussed, with a focus on four main reaction pathways leading to the formation of C 2 , C 3 , C 4, and C 6 vicinal diols, involving hydrolysis, retro-aldol condensation, hydrogenation, isomerization, dehydrogenation, and thermal side reactions. By modifying the Ni-Cu bimetallic active sites, the pathways can be manipulated, resulting in selective retro-aldol condensation C-C cleavage, leading to a shift towards the selective production of either ethylene glycol (EG) or 1,2-propylene glycol (1,2-PG). Finally, we explore the optimization of reaction conditions to tune product selectivity. This study provides important insight into the catalytic conversion of cellulose and offers promising avenues to produce value-added chemicals from renewable feedstocks.
