Environmental pollution is not a new phenomenon, but it remains the greatest global problem facing humanity and a major environmental cause of morbidity and mortality. Human activities related to urbanization, industrialization, mining and exploration are at the forefront of global environmental pollution. Both developed and developing countries share this burden, although awareness and stronger laws in developed countries have done more to protect their environment. Despite global attention to pollution, its impact is still being felt due to its severe long-term effects. The purpose of this work is to display the severity of the problem of environmental pollution, in particular, water pollution, air pollution, radioactive pollution, noise pollution. When writing the article, materials and methods obtained from the study of scientific papers were used. This study is further evidence that the pollution of our planet is one of the most pressing problems and that its solution should be in the first place, as the findings show that pollution affects the planet itself, people and their health, animals and much more.

Rheumatoid arthritis refers to joint diseases of unclear etiology whose final stages can lead to unbearable pain and complete immobility of the affected joints. As one of the most widely known diseases of the joints, it serves as a study target for a large number of research groups and pharmaceutical companies. Modern treatment with anti-inflammatory drugs, including janus kinase (JAK) inhibitors, monoclonal antibodies, and botanicals (polyphenols, glycosides, alkaloids, etc.) has achieved some success and hope for improving the course of the disease. However, existing drugs against RA have a number of side effects which push researchers to elaborate on more selective and effective drug candidates. The avant-garde of research, which aims to develop treatment of rheumatoid arthritis using antisense oligonucleotides along with nonsteroidal drugs and corticosteroids against inflammation, increases the chances of success and expands the arsenal of drugs. The primary goal in the treatment of this disease is to find therapies that allow patients with rheumatoid arthritis to move their joints without pain. The main purpose of this review is to show the victories and challenges for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and the tortuous but promising path of research that aims to help patients experience the joy of freely moving joints without pain.

We propose and demonstrate dendrimer-based coatings for a sensitive biochip surface that enhance the high-performance sorption of small molecules (i.e., biomolecules with low molecular weights) and the sensitivity of a label-free, real-time photonic crystal surface mode (PC SM) biosensor. Biomolecule sorption is detected by measuring changes in the parameters of optical modes on the surface of a photonic crystal (PC). We describe the step-by-step biochip fabrication process. Using oligonucleotides as small molecules and PC SM visualization in a microfluidic mode, we show that the PAMAM (poly-amidoamine)-modified chip's sorption efficiency is almost 14 times higher than that of the planar aminosilane layer and 5 times higher than the 3D epoxy-dextran matrix. The results obtained demonstrate a promising direction for further development of the dendrimer-based PC SM sensor method as an advanced label-free microfluidic tool for detecting biomolecule interactions. Current label-free methods for small biomolecule detection, such as surface plasmon resonance (SPR), have a detection limit down to pM. In this work, we achieved for a PC SM biosensor a Limit of Quantitation of up to 70 fM, which is comparable with the best label-using methods without their inherent disadvantages, such as changes in molecular activity caused by labeling.

Classical homocystinuria is a hereditary defect of the enzyme cystathionine beta synthase, which is produced in the liver. If this enzyme fails, the synthesis pathway of cysteine from methionine is interrupted, leading to the accumulation of homocysteine in the blood plasma and homocysteine in the urine. After birth, the children are unremarkable except for the characteristic laboratory findings. Symptoms rarely appear before the second year of life. The most common symptom is a prolapse of the crystalline lens. This finding is seen in 70% of untreated 10-year-old affected individuals. As the earliest symptom, psychomotor retardation occurs in the majority of patients already during the first two years of life. Limiting factors in terms of life expectancy are thromboembolism, peripheral arterial disease, myocardial infarction, and stroke. These symptoms are due to the damage to the vessels caused by the elevated amino acid levels. About 30% suffer a thromboembolic event by the age of 20, about half by the age of 30. This review focus on present and new therapeutical approaches like the role of enzyme replacement with presentation of different novel targets in research like pegtibatinase, pegtarviliase, CDX-6512, erymethionase, chaperones, proteasome inhibitors and probiotic treatment with SYNB 1353. Furthermore, we analyze the role of liver-directed therapy with three dimensional (3D) bioprinting, liver bioengineering of liver organoids in vitro and liver transplantation. The paper presents the results of a study of the prevalence of Ixodid ticks - potential carriers of tick-borne rickettsiosis pathogens. Ectoparasites were collected in various natural and climatic zones of the Crimean Peninsula within the year 2016-2018. As a result of screening with the help of real-time PCR analysis (PCR-RT), a genetic marker (a section of the gltA gene) of the rickettsia group of tick-borne spotted fever was detected in ticks. The most common DNA marker of rickettsia was found in ticks in the eastern regions of the steppe zone - 50,6 %, in the north-western part of the steppe zone this value was 12,0 %. The least amount of rickettsia target DNA was detected in ticks collected in the mountain forest and south bank zones - 4,5 %. As a result of sequencing of positive DNA samples from fragments of the gltA, ompA, ompB, and sca4 genes, the species composition of rickettsias was established. The DNA of 8 species of rickettsia was identified: Circulation of three R. conorii, R. massiliae, R. sibirica subsp. mongolotimonae, R. slovaca, R. aeschlimannii, R. monacensis, R. helvetica, R. raoultii. R. massiliae, R. slovaca, and R. helvetica were established in the Crimean Peninsula for the first time. The peculiarities of the geographical distribution of the identified rickettsia species were determined, which was due to the spread of mites-carriers of pathogens. The revealed diversity of rickettsia species and their vectors, due to the isolation of the areas of the main feeding animals and the established routes of migratory birds, suggests the circulation of other rickettsia species on the territory of the Crimean Peninsula. The obtained results suggest that the diseases of tick-borne rickettsiosis in the Crimean Peninsula can be caused not only by R. conorii, as previously thought, but also by other types of rickettsii., Competing Interests: The authors declare no conflict of interest.
