Introduction: Secondary lymphedema commonly develops due to trauma to the lymphatic system, and may occur after cancer surgery. The mobile application is an easily accessible and low-cost means of technical-scientific updating that can help the health professional to provide the best treatment for the patient. Thus, the objective of this study was to build an application for the treatment and prevention of upper limb lymphedema. Methods: The construction of the application took place in four stages: (1) Conception, involving the identification of application development needs; Content development, including an integrative literature review in the main databases; (3) Construction, consisting of structuring the database and developing the software; and (4) Transition, comprising carrying out functionality tests. Results: The developed application (Linfedema APP) consists of 31 screens, 4 figures and 3 videos. It was registered at the National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI) of the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade, and is available for free on the Google Play Store. Conclusion: After an integrative review of the literature in the main databases, the “Lymphedema APP” application was developed, which constitutes a practical tool to qualify, direct and guide the physiotherapist in performing the exercises in post-mastectomized patients with lymphedema in the upper limbs.

Isoprene emissions are a key component in biosphere–atmosphere interactions, and the most significant global source is the Amazon rainforest. However, intra- and interannual variations in biological and environmental factors that regulate isoprene emission from Amazonia are not well understood and, thereby, are poorly represented in models. Here, with datasets covering several years of measurements at the Amazon Tall Tower Observatory (ATTO) in central Amazonia, Brazil, we (1) quantified canopy profiles of isoprene mixing ratios across seasons of normal and anomalous years and related them to the main drivers of isoprene emission – solar radiation, temperature, and leaf phenology; (2) evaluated the effect of leaf age on the magnitude of the isoprene emission factor (Es) from different tree species and scaled up to canopy with intra- and interannual leaf age distribution derived by a phenocam; and (3) adapted the leaf age algorithm from the Model of Emissions of Gases and Aerosols from Nature (MEGAN) with observed changes in Es across leaf ages. Our results showed that the variability in isoprene mixing ratios was higher between seasons (max during the dry-to-wet transition seasons) than between years, with values from the extreme 2015 El Niño year not significantly higher than in normal years. In addition, model runs considering in situ observations of canopy Es and the modification on the leaf age algorithm with leaf-level observations of Es presented considerable improvements in the simulated isoprene flux. This shows that MEGAN estimates of isoprene emission can be improved when biological processes are mechanistically incorporated into the model.

A importância do jumento Pêga na produção de asininos e muares é notório. No entanto, apesar da sua relevância, não há um padrão de parâmetros do exame andrológico definido para a espécie, além do alto custo e difícil acesso das vaginas artificiais comerciais, que são utilizadas para a coleta de sêmen. Dessa forma, o objetivo desse trabalho foi confeccionar uma vagina artificial artesanal e coletar dados sobre os parâmetros espermáticos de um jumento. No presente trabalho, foi utilizado um jumento da raça Pêga, de 11 anos, submetido a um exame físico geral, no qual se coletou dados dos parâmetros vitais do animal e, posteriormente, foi realizada uma avaliação do aparelho reprodutor do animal, aferindo consistência, diâmetro, comprimento, largura, volume e índice testiculares, além da avaliação da integridade do epidídimo. Para a coleta do sêmen, foi utilizada uma vagina artificial artesanal, confeccionada utilizando um cano de PVC de 50 cm de comprimento, revestido de uma câmara de ar, com a inserção de um registro na sua porção superficial, permitindo a colocação de água e ar, para conferir temperatura e pressão semelhantes à vagina de uma fêmea. O sêmen foi coletado e foi avaliado quanto aos aspectos macroscópicos e microscópicos. Em suma, a vagina artificial confeccionada obteve êxito na coleta de sêmen, permitindo assim, a obtenção de resultados acerca dos parâmetros espermáticos asininos, contribuindo com os baixos dados registrados na literatura sobre a espécie.

A carne é um dos alimentos mais consumidos na dieta humana por ser rica em nutrientes. Sua composição e as etapas de processamento fazem com que se torne mais suscetível ao processo de oxidação e, consequentemente, a uma diminuição da qualidade, por provocar mudanças nas características sensoriais da carne e de seus derivados. Isso afeta a aceitabilidade por parte do consumidor e também traz riscos à saúde humana, pois a formação e o consumo dos radicais livres causam danos ao organismo. Com isso, a adição de antioxidante é uma prática realizada pela indústria de alimentos, com a finalidade de preservar o produto e estender seu tempo de prateleira; no entanto, os antioxidantes sintéticos comumente utilizados são considerados tóxicos. Atualmente as pesquisas vêm buscando alternativas naturais para a substituição desses aditivos. Dessa forma, esta revisão tem por objetivo mostrar alternativas naturais com alto potencial antioxidante que podem ser aplicadas em produtos cárneos e em embalagens ativas desses produtos.

Resumo Com o objetivo de compreender o modo como mulheres transexuais têm sido atendidas em instituições do Sistema Único de Saúde, o estudo adotou o delineamento qualitativo. A análise de conteúdo temática de entrevistas e de grupo focal resultou em três categorias: utilização de serviços de saúde por mulheres trans; violência na Atenção à Saúde; falta de atendimento especializado. As participantes referiram não possuir vínculos com a Atenção Primária e buscar atendimento no ambulatório vinculado ao hospital de ensino e em pronto atendimento. Casos de violência institucional, negligência e preconceito permeiam suas experiências. Atendimento humanizado; credenciamento do hospital para o processo transexualizador; investimento no bem-estar do trabalhador; criação de protocolos de atendimento e canais de denúncia foram sugeridos. A equidade e a atenção integral requerem ampliação e qualificação dos serviços. Investimentos em Educação Permanente são essenciais.

Abstract Objective: to measure the prevalence of prematurity according to the Brazilian macro-regions and maternal characteristics over the past 11 years; to compare the proportions during the COVID-19 pandemic (2020-2021) with those of the historical series (2011-2019). Methods: this was an ecological study, with data from the Live Birth Information System; the prevalence was calculated according to year, macro-region and maternal characteristics; time series analysis was performed using Prais-Winsten regression model. Results: the prevalence of preterm birth in 2011-2021 was 11.1%, stable; the average in the pandemic period 11.3% (95%CI 11.2;11.4%) was similar to that of the base period 11.0% (95%CI 10.6;11.5%); the North region (11.6%) showed the highest proportion between 2011 and 2021; twin pregnancy (56.3%) and pregnant women who had 4-6 prenatal care visits (16.7%) showed an increasing trend (p-value < 0.001); the highest prevalence was observed for extremes of maternal age, pregnant women of Black race/skin color, indigenous women and those with lower level of education. Conclusion: preterm birth rates were highest for socially vulnerable pregnant women, twin pregnancies and in the North; stable prevalence, with no difference between periods.

Abstract Although it is a versatile tendon, only 1% of surgeons choose to use the quadricipital tendon as a graft in anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction. The present article aims to describe a quadricipital graft removal technique in which its deepest part is maintained. The technique consists of an approach in which the first incision is made in the medial part of the quadricipital tendon to prevent it from getting too short. This is due to its triangular design. The technique also addresses the depth and identification of the three layers of the quadricipital tendon so that it is possible to preserve its deepest part. This approach aims to preserve the extensor apparatus and to not communicate it with the joint environment, avoiding fluid extravasation both in the trans and postoperative periods.

Abstract Background Injuries to the articular cartilage of the knee often fail to heal properly due to the hypocellular and avascular nature of this tissue. Subsequent disability can limit participation in sports and decrease quality of life. Subchondral bone perforations are used for the treatment of small defects. Filling out the central portion in larger lesions becomes difficult, and scaffolds can be used as adjuvants, providing a matrix onto which the defect can be filled in completely. Also, autogenous cartilage grafts can be combined, acting as an inducer and improving healing quality, all in a single procedure. Methods This observational study evaluated the clinical and quality-of-life outcomes of patients with articular cartilage lesions of the knee undergoing repair via a microfracture technique combined with a synthetic scaffold and autogenous cartilage graft, with transosseous sutures and fibrin glue fixation, at 12 months of follow-up. Secondarily, it assessed whether combined procedures, previous surgical intervention, traumatic aetiology, lesion location, and age affect outcomes. The sample consisted of adult patients (age 18–66 years) with symptoms consistent with chondral or osteochondral lesions, isolated or multiple, ICRS grade III/IV, 2–12 cm2 in size. Patients with corrected angular deviations or instabilities were included. Those with BMI > 40 kg/m2, prior total or subtotal (> 30%) meniscectomy, second-look procedures, and follow-up 45 years had a negative impact on outcomes.

O Instagram desempenha papel fundamental nas campanhas eleitorais contemporâneas, mas ainda é pouco estudado dentro do contexto português. Este artigo analisará as apropriações da hashtag #legislativas2022 realizadas por atores políticos no Instagram durante as Eleições de 2022 em Portugal. Para tal, levaremos em conta o engajamento dos utilizadores, os agrupamentos e redes das hashtags utilizadas, bem como a análise computacional de imagens com o auxílio da Google Vision API, tendo em vista os rótulos e as entidades web. Os resultados da análise dos utilizadores apontam para a prevalência de perfis dos partidos políticos, da grande imprensa e de líderes partidários no debate público; as imagens representam maioritariamente a cobertura dos eventos políticos e o dia a dia de campanha; as hashtags sugerem a força dos perfis de células regionais dos partidos e de apoiadores. Por último, os resultados apontam o caráter distintivo da campanha eleitoral do partido Chega, que, diferentemente das demais, buscou explicitamente identificar a quem ou a que se contrapunha, sendo identificada com o populismo de direita.

Este artigo busca responder à pergunta: como podem ser caracterizados os membros de grupos políticos digitais quando se admite a existência de atores humanos e não-humanos no ambiente? Para isso, foi efetuada uma pesquisa exploratória que alcançou 1.040 membros de 104 grupos políticos brasileiros do WhatsApp entre os dias 30 de outubro de 2020 e 29 de novembro de 2020. Após a recolha de dados e a análise dos resultados, percebeu-se que os grupos são formados maioritariamente por WhatsAppers, que são os membros orgânicos, mas também se percebe a presença de bots e ciborgues. A atuação dessas contas inteira ou parcialmente automatizadas está ligada ao compartilhamento de mensagens desfavoráveis aos adversários ou de conteúdos elogiosos aos políticos que gozam da preferência do espaço.

Down syndrome (DS) is a genetic condition associated with impairments in several body systems, which may negatively influence the habit of practicing physical activities (PAs), increasing sedentary habits and the risk of comorbidities. Additionally, difficulty in accessing services, financial limitations and lack of interest may interfere with the practice of PAs. Considering the necessity of developing effective treatment alternatives, to increase the possibility of access and the interest of participants, we conducted a study using telerehabilitation with a virtual task to promote PA and analyze the motor performance of DS individuals. Our protocol consisted of 11 sessions of the virtual game called MoveHero. A total of 34 individuals with DS and 34 individuals with typical development participated in the study. Heart rate (HR) and rating of perceived effort (RPE) were collected at rest and during the game. Our results show that virtual reality presents a great possibility to promote PA and a way out of a sedentary lifestyle for DS individuals, considering the enhancement in HR and RPE found during the protocol for both groups. Moreover, our results show positive outcomes regarding motor performance, with significant improvement in the task with practice, demonstrating that individuals with DS are able to improve their motor proficiency with adequate stimuli in the virtual environment.
