The article features the dual-core central processing units developed by AMD and Intel. The 3.2 GHz Pentium Extreme Edition 840 from Intel is initially sold for $1100. Intel's cheapest dual-core processing is the 2.8 GHz Pentium D 820. AMD launched its 2.4 GHz Athlon 64 X2 4800+ processor in August 2005 which costs $900. Following this, AMD has launched several more-affordable dual-core chips, including the Athlon 64 X2 3800+. The dual-core processors were compared and contrasted and the results showed that the processors developed by AMD posses superior performance over other processors. INSET: HIGH-END VS. LOW-END DUAL-CORE SYSTEMS.
