The coupling processes among the lithosphere, atmosphere, and ionosphere (LAI) during the earthquake preparation phase are still an open scientific debate. Comprehensive LAI coupling effects around the 2022 Ms6.8 Luding earthquake in China are investigated with a multi-parameter and multi-layer approach, including the b-value, revised accelerated moment release, Earth resistivity, ELF magnetic field emissions, atmospheric electric field, surface temperature, foF2 from ionosonde, GNSS TEC, Ne and magnetic field from CSES and Swarm satellites, and energetic electrons from CSES and NOAA satellites. It is found that the anomalies start from the lithospheric parameters as Earth resistivity and b-values 1–2 years before to reflect the local stress loading in the seismic region, then the ionospheric and atmospheric disturbances occur and accelerate −50 days before and −15 days before, and finally the electrons precipitate a few days before. The simultaneous perturbations in LAI illustrate the thermodynamic coupling channel, such as on 24 August, −12 days before. Meanwhile, the abundant developed ionospheric anomalies without atmospheric disturbances demonstrate the electromagnetic coupling way from the lithosphere to the ionosphere directly. Finally, the results demonstrate a two-way model of LAIC: one way is characterized by a slow chain of processes, of thermodynamic nature, starting from the ground and proceeding to the above atmosphere and ionosphere, showing an exponential trend in the cumulative number of anomalies; the second way is characterized by oscillating electromagnetic coupling between the lithosphere and ionosphere, showing intermittent fluctuations in the corresponding cumulative number of anomalies. A new dimeric C-glycoside polyketide chrysomycin F (1), along with four new monomeric compounds, chrysomycins G (2), H (3), I (4), J (5), as well as three known analogues, chrysomycins A (6), B (7), and C (8), were isolated and characterised from a strain of Streptomyces sp. obtained from a sediment sample collected from the South China Sea. Their structures were determined by detailed spectroscopic analysis. Chrysomycin F contains two diastereomers, whose structures were further elucidated by a biomimetic [2 + 2] photodimerisation of chrysomycin A. Chrysomycins B and C showed potent anti-tuberculosis activity against both wild-type Mycobacterium tuberculosis and a number of clinically isolated MDR M. tuberculosis strains. Six new compounds, talamitones A and B (1 and 2), demethyltalamitone B (3), talamiisocoumaringlycosides A and B (4 and 5), and talaminaphtholglycoside (6), together with six known compounds (7–12), were isolated from the marine-derived fungus Talaromyces minnesotensis BTBU20220184. The new structures were characterized by using HRESIMS and NMR. This is the first report of isocoumaringlycoside derivatives from a fungus of the Talaromyces genus. Fresh pork tenderloin was stored at −3 °C under different static magnetic fields (SMF) of 0, 4, and 10 mT (control, MF-4, and MF-10) to investigate their physicochemical properties changes during storage of 8 days. The initial equilibrium temperature of the samples stored with 4 mT MF was found to be −2.3 °C, which was slightly lower (0.3 °C) than that the control value. The super-chilling phenomenon on the pork was then observed, as the samples stored under the magnetic field did not freeze throughout storage period, but the control experienced a sudden change in temperature after 138 h and then froze. The preservation effect of MF-4 on meat quality was the best in all treatment groups. MF-4 achieved a higher water-retention rate, with drip and cook losses of 6.5% and 29.0% lower than the control, respectively. Meanwhile, the MF-4 effectively delayed the color change in the meat during the storage and the texture hardening after cooking, and effectively controlled the growth of the total volatile saline nitrogen content on the samples. In addition, MF-4 delayed the reduction in myofibrillar protein solubility, sulfhydryl content, and emulsification capacity, indicating that this field inhibited the denaturation of myofibrillar protein. Staphylococcus pseudintermedius is an opportunistic pathogen commonly found in canines, and has garnered escalating interest due to its potential for zoonotic transmission and increasing antimicrobial resistance. However, the excessive use of antibiotics and the characteristic of S. pseudintermedius forming biofilms make treatment challenging. In this study, the in vivo and in vitro antimicrobial activity and mechanisms of action of NZ2114, a plectasin-derived peptide, against S. pseudintermedius were investigated. NZ2114 exhibited potent antibacterial activity towards S. pseudintermedius (minimum inhibitory concentration, MIC = 0.23 μM) with a lower probability of inducing drug-resistant mutations and efficient bactericidal action, which was superior to those of mopirucin (MIC = 0.25–0.5 μM) and lincomycin (MIC = 4.34–69.41 μM). The results of electron microscopy and flow cytometry showed that NZ2114 disrupted S. pseudintermedius' cell membrane, resulting in cellular content leakage, cytoplasmic membrane shrinkage, and, eventually, cell death. The intracellular ROS activity and Alamar Blue detection showed that NZ2114 interferes with intracellular metabolic processes. In addition, NZ2114 effectively inhibits biofilm formation, and confocal laser scanning microscopy further revealed its antibacterial and anti-biofilm activity (biofilm thickness reduced to 6.90–17.70 μm). The in vivo therapy of NZ2114 in a mouse pyoderma model showed that it was better than lincomycin in effectively decreasing the number of skin bacteria, alleviating histological damage, and reducing the skin damage area. Due to complex environmental factors, the gear transmission systems of wind turbines are continuously affected by large torque load excitation with periodic and random properties. This paper shares the load-sharing and dynamic characteristics of a herringbone planetary gear system applied in a wind turbine. The gear dynamic model is established using a typical lumped parameter method, in which the nonlinear transmission errors of the gear pairs and left and right-side coupling stiffness of the herringbone gears are included. With the help of the blade element momentum theory, the precise calculation of the hub load of the wind turbine, which is the external excitation of the gear system, is implemented, in which the wind shear, tower shadow, turbulent effect, and tip loss correction are taken into consideration. The nonlinear dynamic characteristics of the system are obtained using the Runge-Kutta method and then discussed. The results show that the turbulent effect plays a major role in the impact on the load-sharing characteristics, and a reasonable set of the support stiffness of rotational components can improve the load-sharing characteristics of the system. Wind shear has important implications for Kelvin–Helmholtz instability (KHI) and gravity waves (GWs) in the mesosphere–lower thermosphere (MLT) region where its momentum transport process is dominated by short-period (<1 h) GWs. However, the sub-hourly variation in wind shear is still not well quantified. This study aims to improve current understanding of vertical wind shear by analyzing multi-year meteor radar measurements at the Mohe (MH, 53.5°N, 122.3°E), Beijing (BJ, 40.3 ° N , 116.2 ° E ), Wuhan (WH, 30.5 ° N , 114.6 ° E ), and Fuke (FK, 19.5°N, 109.1°E) stations in China. The wind field is estimated by a new algorithm, e.g., the damped least squares fitting. Taking the wind shear estimated by normal products as a criterion, the shear produced by the new algorithm has more statistical convergence as compared to the traditional algorithm, e.g., the least squares fitting. Therefore, we argue that the 10 min DLSA wind probably produces a more reasonable vertical shear. Both intensive wind shears and GW kinetic energy can be simultaneously captured during the 0600–1600 UTs of May at MH and during the 1300–2400 UTs of March at FK, possibly implying that the up-propagation of GWs could contribute to the production of large wind shears. Staphylococcus pseudintermedius (S. pseudintermedius) is the main pathogen causing pyoderma of canines. With the emergence of drug-resistant bacteria, traditional antibiotic treatments are limited. As a potential antibacterial agent, NZ2114 was effective against S. pseudintermedius, including drug-resistant strains. Its bactericidal efficacy was superior to mupiroxacin, ofloxacin and lincomycin. To facilitate the transcutaneous delivery of NZ2114 for the treatment of superficial pyoderma, chemical permeation enhancers were added since water-soluble NZ2114 does not easily penetrate the skin lipid layer. Two different NZ2114 sprays were prepared by combining 1% Azone + 10% propylene glycol (PG) or 5% N-methylpyrrolidone (NMP) + 10% PG with NZ2114 after screening. The cumulative permeability of NZ2114 sprays were 244.149 and 405.245 μg/cm2 at 24 h with an in vitro percutaneous assay of mice skin, which showed a 244% and 405% increase in skin permeability than NZ2114, respectively. In addition, the efficacy of NZ2114 sprays in reducing skin bacteria colonisation was demonstrated in a mouse model of superficial pyoderma (24 mice, 3 mice/group) induced by S. pseudintermedius, and the 5% NMP + 10% PG + NZ2114 group had the best therapeutic effect compared to the other groups. A novel electromagnetic heat method is presented for green extraction of natural compounds from peel residue. In the processing cavity obtained through 3D printing, a core made of amorphous alloy was applied to strengthen the magnetic flux. During the process, an induced electric field was produced in the extract medium owing to an oscillating magnetic field at 50 kHz rather than a pair of electrodes; thus, electrochemical reactions could be avoided. A thermal effect and temperature rise were observed under the field, and essential oil was obtained via this electromagnetic heat hydrodistillation. In addition, the numerical relationships between magnetic field, induced electric field (IEF), induced current density, and temperature profile were elaborated; they were positively correlated with the extraction yield of essential oils. It was found that the waveforms of the magnetic field, induced electric field, and excitation voltage were not consistent. Using a higher magnetic field resulted in high current densities and terminal temperatures in the extracts, as well as higher essential oil yields. When the magnetic field strength was 1.39 T and the extraction time was 60 min, the maximum yield of essential oil reached 1.88%. Meanwhile, conventional hydrodistillation and ohmic heating hydrodistillation were conducted for the comparison; all treatments had no significant impact on the densities. In addition, the essential oil extracted by electromagnetic heat had the lowest acid value and highest saponification value. The proportion of monoterpenoids and oxygen-containing compounds of essential oil extracted by this proposed method was higher than the other two methods. Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) are antibiotic candidates; however, their instability and protease susceptibility limit clinical applications. In this study, the polylactic acid–glycolic acid (PLGA)–polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) drug delivery system was screened by orthogonal design using the double emulsion–solvent evaporation method. NZ2114 nanoparticles (NZ2114-NPs) displayed favorable physicochemical properties with a particle size of 178.11 ± 5.23 nm, polydispersity index (PDI) of 0.108 ± 0.10, ζ potential of 4.78 ± 0.67 mV, actual drug-loading rate of 4.07 ± 0.37%, encapsulation rate of 81.46 ± 7.42% and cumulative release rate of 67.75% (120 h) in PBS. The results showed that PLGA encapsulation increased HaCaT cell viability by 20%, peptide retention in 50% serum by 24.12%, and trypsin tolerance by 4.24-fold. Meanwhile, in vitro antimicrobial assays showed that NZ2114-NPs had high inhibitory activity against Staphylococcus epidermidis (S. epidermidis) (4–8 μg/mL). Colony counting and confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM) confirmed that NZ2114-NPs were effective in reducing the biofilm thickness and bacterial population of S. epidermidis G4 with a 99% bactericidal rate of persister bacteria, which was significantly better than that of free NZ2114. In conclusion, the results demonstrated that PLGA nanoparticles can be used as a reliable NZ2114 delivery system for the treatment of biofilm infections caused by S. epidermidis. Understanding the stoichiometry of extracellular enzymes in soil, particularly in relation to nutrient acquisition (e.g., carbon, nitrogen, phosphorus), provides valuable insights into microorganisms' resource requirements. This study investigates the metabolic constraints of soil microorganisms in response to different growth stages of apple trees under various soil management practices. A 14-year long-term experiment with a split-plot design was conducted, where the main plots received different cover crop treatments (bare vs. cover crop), and subplots were subjected to four fertilizer treatments (CK, M, NPK, MNPK). The significant main and interactive effects of cover crops, fertilizer treatment, and growth period on soil nutrients were observed (p < 0.001). Both cover crop and fertilizer treatments significantly increased the soil organic matter content, with implications for orchard resilience to drought. However, the cover factor alone did not notably influence soil carbon–nitrogen ratios or microbial communities. Microbial carbon limitations were driven by soil water dynamics and microbial biomass, while microbial phosphorus limitations were closely linked to total nitrogen levels. The results underscore the combination of cover crops and MNPK fertilizer-enhanced soil nutrient levels and enzyme activities, mitigating microbial carbon and phosphorus limitations. This study aimed to isolate the proteolytic fraction from the silkworm thorn fruit (Cudrania tricuspidata) through ethanol precipitation at different ratios, and to determine its proteolytic activity and optimal activity conditions. Furthermore, the hydrolysis characteristics and antioxidant activity of soy protein isolate (SPI) and whey protein concentrate (WPC) hydrolyzates obtained through the enzymatic hydrolysis of freeze-dried silkworm thorn fruit powder (SF) were evaluated. For isolation and partial purification of proteolytic fraction, the water-solubilized fraction of the silkworm thorn fruit was purified through ethanol precipitation at four different ratios of 1:1, 1:2, 1:4, and 1:6 (v/v). The protein recovery rate, caseinolytic activity, protein pattern, and optimal activity (pH, temperature, and inhibitors) of fractional ethanol precipitate obtained from the silkworm thorn fruit (ESF) were evaluated. The proteolytic fraction obtained from silkworm thorn fruit exhibited a major protein band around 65–70 kDa and showed the highest proteolytic activity at a 1:4 ratio of ethanol precipitation (p < 0.05). The optimal activity of the measured enzyme fraction was determined to be at pH 9.0 and 50 °C, and the proteolytic activity of ESF was almost inhibited by phenyl methyl sulphonyl fluoride (PMSF, 2 mM), a serine protease inhibitor. Compared to Alcalase and papain, extensively used as commercial enzymes, the silkworm thorn fruit powder was less effective in hydrolyzing SPI and WPC. Nevertheless, SPI and WPC hydrolyzates mediated with silkworm thorn fruit powder showed even better antioxidant activities than those mediated with Alcalase and papain. Simultaneous measurements of atmospheric volatile organic compounds (VOCs), conventional gases and meteorological parameters were performed at an urban site in Jinan, East China, in June 2021 to explore the formation and evolution mechanisms of summertime ozone (O3) pollution events. O3 Episode Ⅰ, O3 Episode II, and non-O3 episodes were identified based on the China Ambient Air Quality Standards and the differences in precursor concentrations. The O3 concentrations in Episode I and Episode II were 145.4 μg/m3 and 166.4 μg/m3, respectively, which were significantly higher than that in non-O3 episode (90 μg/m3). For O3 precursors, VOCs and NOx concentrations increased by 48% and 34% in Episode I, and decreased by 21% and 27% in Episode II compared to non-O3 episode days. The analysis of the m,p-xylene to ethylbenzene ratio (X/E) and OH exposure demonstrated that the aging of the air masses in Episode II was significantly higher than the other two episodes, and the differences could not be explained by localized photochemical consumption. Therefore, we speculate that the high O3 concentrations in Episode II were driven by the regional transport of O3 and its precursors. Backward trajectory simulations indicated that the air masses during Episode II were concentrated from the south. In contrast, the combination of high precursor concentrations and favorable meteorological conditions (high temperatures and low humidity) led to an excess of O3 in Episode I. Positive matrix factorization (PMF) model results indicated that increased emissions from combustion and gasoline vehicle exhausts contributed to the elevated concentrations of VOCs in Episode I, and solvent usage may be an important contributor to O3 formation. The results of this study emphasize the importance of strengthening regional joint control of O3 and its precursors with neighboring cities, especially in the south, which is crucial for Jinan to mitigate O3 pollution. The physicochemical properties of the mixed gelatin gels with soy and whey proteins were investigated to develop the gel base with a soft texture and abundant essential amino acids for the elderly. Gelatin-only gel (control) was prepared at 6% (w/v), and mixed gelatin gels were formulated by replacing gelatin with soy protein isolate and whey protein concentrate at different mixing ratios [gelatin (G):soy protein isolate (S):whey protein concentrate (W)]. Results showed that replacing gelatin with the globular proteins in gelatin gels increased the pH value and processing yield (p < 0.05). Moreover, the mixed gelatin gels, particularly the G2:S1:W3 treatment, showed significantly higher essential amino acids than the gelatin-only control. The partial replacement of gelatin with the globular proteins could decrease the hardness of gelatin gel (p < 0.05), but there was no difference in hardness between the G2:G3:W1, G2:S2:W2, and G2:S1:W3 treatments (p > 0.05). The results of protein pattern, x-ray diffraction, and microstructure had no clear evidence for specific protein–protein interaction in the mixed gelatin gels. Therefore, this study indicates that mixed gelatin gels with the globular proteins at specific mixing ratios could be a practical approach to providing a soft texture and high-level essential amino acids to the elderly. Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory skin disease characterized by epidermal hyperproliferation, aberrant differentiation of keratinocytes, and dysregulated immune responses. WW domain-containing oxidoreductase (WWOX) is a non-classical tumor suppressor gene that regulates multiple cellular processes, including proliferation, apoptosis, and migration. This study aimed to explore the possible role of WWOX in the pathogenesis of psoriasis. Immunohistochemical analysis showed that the expression of WWOX was increased in epidermal keratinocytes of both human psoriatic lesions and imiquimod-induced mice psoriatic model. Immortalized human epidermal keratinocytes were transduced with a recombinant adenovirus expressing microRNA specific for WWOX to downregulate its expression. Inflammatory responses were detected using Western blotting, real-time quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (PCR), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. In human epidermal keratinocytes, WWOX knockdown reduced nuclear factor-kappa B signaling and levels of proinflammatory cytokines induced by polyinosinic: polycytidylic acid [(poly(I:C)] in vitro. Furthermore, calcium chelator and protein kinase C (PKC) inhibitors significantly reduced poly(I:C)-induced inflammatory reactions. WWOX plays a role in the inflammatory reaction of epidermal keratinocytes by regulating calcium and PKC signaling. Targeting WWOX could be a novel therapeutic approach for psoriasis in the future. The marine peptide, American oyster defensin (AOD), is derived from Crassostrea virginica and exhibits a potent bactericidal effect. However, recombinant preparation has not been achieved due to the high charge and hydrophobicity. Although the traditional fusion tags such as Trx and SUMO shield the effects of target peptides on the host, their large molecular weight (12–20 kDa) leads to the yields lower than 20% of the fusion protein. In this study, a short and acidic fusion tag was employed with a compact structure of only 1 kDa. Following 72 h of induction in a 5 L fermenter, the supernatant exhibited a total protein concentration of 587 mg/L. The recombinant AOD was subsequently purified through affinity chromatography and enterokinase cleavage, resulting in the final yield of 216 mg/L and a purity exceeding 93%. The minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) of AOD against Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, and Streptococcus galactis ranged from 4 to 8 μg/mL. Moreover, time-killing curves indicated that AOD achieved a bactericidal rate of 99.9% against the clinical strain S. epidermidis G-81 within 0.5 h at concentrations of 2× and 4× MIC. Additionally, the activity of AOD was unchanged after treatment with artificial gastric fluid and intestinal fluid for 4 h. Biocompatibility testing demonstrated that AOD, at a concentration of 128 μg/mL, exhibited a hemolysis rate of less than 0.5% and a cell survival rate of over 83%. Furthermore, AOD's in vivo therapeutic efficacy against mouse subcutaneous abscess revealed its capability to restrain bacterial proliferation and reduce bacterial load, surpassing that of antibiotic lincomycin. Osteoporosis and degenerative endocrine diseases are some of the major causes of disability in the elderly. The feedback loop in the endocrine system works to control the release of hormones and maintain the homeostasis of metabolism, thereby regulating the function of target organs. The breakdown of this feedback loop results in various endocrine and metabolic disorders, such as osteoporosis, type II diabetes, hyperlipidemia, etc. The direct regulation of redox homeostasis is one of the most attractive strategies to redress the imbalance of the feedback loop. The biophysical regulation of redox homeostasis can be achieved through engineered dynamic hydrogel niches, with which cellular mechanics and redox homeostasis are intrinsically connected. Mechanotransduction-dependent redox signaling is initiated by cell surface protein assemblies, cadherins for cell–cell junctions, and integrins for cell–ECM interactions. In this review, we focused on the biophysical regulation of redox homeostasis via the tunable cell–ECM interactions in the engineered dynamic hydrogel niches. We elucidate processes from the rational design of the hydrogel matrix to the mechano-signaling initiation and then to the redox response of the encapsulated cells. This study investigated the interdecadal characteristics of the frequency of the winter single station extreme cold events (SSECEs) in North China and their relationship with sea surface temperature (SST). The results showed the following: (a) The SSECEs occurred frequently before 1991, but less thereafter, with an increase after 2018. The first two interdecadal modes of the SSECE frequency were east–west inverse and "n" patterns. (b) The interdecadal abrupt change of the "n" pattern occurred around 1997/1998. Before 1997/1998, the synergistic effects between the positive Interdecadal Pacific Oscillation (+IPO) and the negative North Atlantic Multidecadal Oscillation (−AMO) triggered the "two troughs and one ridge" anomalous circulation in Eurasia. The Rossby wave energy propagated downstream from the Atlantic, strengthening the Lake Baikal ridge. Furthermore, the Siberian High (SH) became weaker in the north and stronger in the south. With the favorable jet conditions, the cold air invaded North China along the northerly airflow in front of the Lake Baikal ridge, resulting in the frequent SSECE occurrence in central North China. Afterwards, the opposite occurred. (c) The cooperation of SST anomalies (SSTAs) led to the east–west inverse anomaly of the SSECE frequency. Before 1991, the high SSTAs in the central North Atlantic and low SSTAs in the equatorial Indian Ocean and the southwest Pacific triggered "+", "−", "+", and "−" wave trains at mid-latitudes from the Atlantic to the North Pacific. The Rossby wave energy propagated eastward from the Atlantic, resulting in the SH and Urals ridge strengthening, and the Aleutian Low and East Asian trough deepening. The northwestern airflow in front of the Urals ridge guided the cold air into North China, leading to frequent SSECEs in central and eastern North China before 1991. While air quality in China has improved significantly in recent years, the population is becoming increasingly vulnerable to air pollution due to the aging population. In this study, we assessed premature deaths attributable to long- and short-term exposures to PM2.5 and O3, as well as their driving forces in Shandong from 2014 to 2060 based on county-level near-real-time air pollutant concentration datasets and projected concentrations of PM2.5 and O3. We found that the concentrations of PM2.5 and O3 in most districts and counties from Shandong are still higher than the corresponding concentration limit of Grade II. Premature mortality caused by long- and short-term exposures to PM2.5 decreased by 13,045 and 8092 in 2020 compared with those in 2014, respectively. Furthermore, premature mortality attributable to short-term exposure to O3 was 36.08% higher than that due to short-term exposure to PM2.5 in 2020. The results of the driving force analysis indicate that the health benefits brought about by the improvement in air quality have been offset by the changes in population age structure. Toxoplasmosis is a major worldwide protozoan zoonosis. The surface antigen 1 (SAG1) of Toxoplasma gondii (T. gondii) has always been recognized as an ideal vaccine candidate antigen. However, the intact and soluble SAG1 protein is usually difficult to acquire in vitro, which is unfavorable for employing the recombinant protein as a vaccine candidate antigen. In the present study, we obtained the full-length SAG1 recombinant protein in soluble form by Escherichia coli Transetta (DE3) cells under optimized expression conditions. The immunogenicity and protective ability of this recombinant protein against T. gondii acute infection were evaluated in a mouse model. Monitoring changes in serum antibody levels and types, the presence of cytokines, and the rate of lymphocyte proliferation in vaccinated mice were used to assess humoral and cellular immune responses. Additional assessments were performed to determine the protective potency of the recombinant protein in combating T. gondii RH tachyzoites. It was found that the titers of both IgG2a and IgG2b were considerably greater in the immunized mice compared to the titers of IgG1 and IgG3. The levels of Th1-type cytokines (IFN-γ, IL-12p70, IL-2, and TNF-α) and Th2-type cytokines (IL-10) significantly increased when splenocytes from immunological group mice were treated with T. gondii lysate antigen. Compared to the control group, a recombinant protein substantially increased the longevity of infected mice, with an average death time prolonged by 14.50 ± 0.34 days (p < 0.0001). These findings suggest that the full-length and soluble SAG1 recombinant protein produced potent immune responses in mice and could be a preferred subunit vaccine candidate for T. gondii, offering a feasible option for vaccination against acute toxoplasmosis. In this paper, we investigated the vertical distribution characteristics of surface soil moisture based on ISMN (International Soil Moisture Network) multilayer in situ data (5, 10, and 20 cm; 2, 4, and 8 in) and performed comparisons between the in situ data and four microwave satellite remote sensing products (SMOS L2, SMOS-IC, SMAP L2, and SMAP L4). The results showed that the mean soil moisture difference between layers can be −0.042~−0.024 (for the centimeter group)/−0.067~−0.044 (for the inch group) m3/m3 in negative terms and 0.020~0.028 (for the centimeter group)/0.036~0.040 (for the inch group) m3/m3 in positive terms. The surface soil moisture was found to have very significant stratification characteristics, and the interlayer difference was close to or beyond the SMOS and SMAP 0.04 m3/m3 nominal retrieval accuracy. Comparisons revealed that the satellite retrievals had a higher correlation with the field measurements of 5 cm/2 in, and SMAP L4 had the smallest difference with the in situ data. The mean difference caused by using 10 cm/4 in and 20 cm/8 in in situ data instead of the 5 cm/2 in data could be about −0.019~−0.018/−0.18~−0.015 m3/m3 and −0.026~−0.023/−0.043~−0.039 m3/m3, respectively, meaning that there would be a potential depth mismatch in the data validation. Although antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) have highly desirable intrinsic characteristics in their commercial product development as new antimicrobials, the limitations of AMPs from experimental to scale development include the low oral bioavailability, and high production costs due to inadequate in vitro/in vivo gene expression- and low scale. Plectasin has good bactericidal activity against Staphylococcus and Streptococcus, and the selective bactericidal activity greatly reduces the damage to the micro-ecosystem when applied in vivo. However, its expression level was relatively low (748.63 mg/L). In view of these situations, this study will optimize and modify the structure of Plectasin, hoping to obtain candidates with high expression, no/low toxicity, and maintain desirable antibacterial activity. Through sequence alignment, Plectasin was used as a template to introduce the degenerate bases, and the screening library was constructed. After three different levels of screening, the candidate sequence PN7 was obtained, and its total protein yield in the supernatant was 5.53 g/L, with the highest value so far for the variants or constructs from the same ancestor source. PN7 had strong activity against several species of Gram-positive bacteria (MIC value range 1~16 μg/mL). It was relatively stable in various conditions in vitro; in addition, the peptide showed no toxicity to mice for 1 week after intraperitoneal injection. Meanwhile, PN7 kills Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 43300 with a mode of a quicker (>99% S. aureus was killed within 2 h, whereas vancomycin at 2× MIC was 8 h.) and longer PAE period. The findings indicate that PN7 may be a novel promising antimicrobial agent, and this study also provides a model or an example for the design, modification, or reconstruction of novel AMPs and their derivatives. Sous-vide is a cooking method used to improve the tenderness and juiciness of chicken breast. However, the comparative changes in meat quality attributes of sous-vide cooked chicken breast and thigh muscles are not fully understood. The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of sous-vide cooking conditions, based on collagen denaturation temperature of intramuscular connective tissue, on the physicochemical properties of chicken breasts and thighs. Chicken breast and thigh were cooked at four sous-vide cooking conditions (55 °C for 3/6 h and 65 °C for 3/6 h) and conventional cooking at 75 °C (core temperature of 71 °C) as control. No significant differences in pH and lightness were found between the sous-vide cooking conditions. Moisture content, cooking loss, protein solubility, shear force, myofibrillar fragmentation index, and lipid oxidation were affected by sous-vide cooking conditions (p < 0.05). The decreased shear force and total collagen content of 65 °C sous-vide cooking treatment might be associated with collagen denaturation (p < 0.05). Sous-vide cooking at 55 °C could decrease cooking loss, with higher moisture than sous-vide cooking at 65 °C (p < 0.05). These tendencies on water-holding capacity and shear force at the two different temperatures were similarly observed for both chicken breast and thigh. Therefore, this study indicates that chicken breast and thigh are similarly affected by the sous-vide cooking conditions and suggests that a novel strategy to apply together two temperature ranges based on the thermal denaturation of intramuscular connective tissue would be required. Toxoplasma gondii (T. gondii) has many intermediate hosts, obligately invades nucleated cells, and seriously threatens human and animal health due to a lack of effective drugs and vaccines. Sialic acid-binding protein 1 (SABP1) is a novel invasion-related protein that, like surface antigen 1 (SAG1), is found on the plasma membrane of T. gondii. To investigate the immunogenicity and protective efficacy of DNA vaccines expressing SABP1 and SAG1 proteins against T. gondii acute infection, the recombinant plasmids pVAX1-SABP1 and pVAX1-SAG1 were produced and administered intramuscularly in Balb/c mice. Serum antibody levels and subtypes, lymphocyte proliferation, and cytokines were used to assess immunized mice's humoral and cellular immune responses. Furthermore, the ability of DNA vaccines to protect mice against T. gondii RH tachyzoites was tested. Immunized mice exhibited substantially higher IgG levels, with IgG2a titers higher than IgG1. When the immune group mice's splenocytes were stimulated with T. gondii lysate antigen, Th1-type cytokines (IL-12p70, IFN-γ, and IL-2) and Th2-type cytokine (IL-4) increased significantly. The combined DNA vaccine significantly increased the immunized mouse survival compared to the control group, with an average death time extended by 4.33 ± 0.6 days (p < 0.0001). These findings show that DNA vaccines based on the SABP1 and SAG1 genes induced robust humoral and cellular immunity in mice, effectively protecting against acute toxoplasmosis and potentially serving as a viable option for vaccination to prevent T. gondii infection. Sarcocystosis is an intracellular parasitic disease caused by Sarcocystis spp. that has a worldwide prevalence. Symptoms of the disease include diarrhea and muscle pain. The disease poses a threat to the health of animals. The aim of this review is to investigate the global prevalence of Sarcocystis infection in sheep and goats during 2013–2022. We searched five databases: Web of Science, Science Direct, PubMed, Scopus, and Google Scholar. A total of 36 articles containing 44 datasets met the criteria and were included in the study. The total infection rates of Sarcocystis in sheep and goats were 66.3% (95% CI, 51.79–79.38%) and 52.1% (95% CI, 29.45–74.23%), respectively. It was found that Sarcocystis species tend to have a host species preference. Coinfection of S. tenella and S. arieticanis often occurred in sheep, and goats were frequently infected with S. capracanis. Age and sex were identified as risk factors for Sarcocystis infection in sheep and goats. The infection rates of female and male animals were significantly different, with females having a higher infection rate. Age-adjusted analysis showed that infection rates in animals older than one year were higher than in animals younger than one year. The serious environmental pollution caused by the spontaneous combustion of coal gangue has become a problem which cannot be ignored in the world mining industry. It is urgently necessary to clarify the law of the temperature distribution of spontaneous combustion in gangue dumps and to grasp its future dynamic evolution of spontaneous combustion. In this study, the internal temperature of the second platform of the Yinying coal mine gangue dump was monitored on the basis of the self-developed wireless temperature monitoring system. Its temperature distribution was analysed, and areas of low (<80 °C), medium (80~280 °C), and high temperature (>280 °C) were delimited. The finite element method was also used to simulate its internal temperature development of 1–5 years. The results show that: (1) The high temperature area is mainly distributed on the side close to the slope. In the area 3 m deep, the high temperature started to propagate quickly. At a depth of 4 m, medium and high temperature represented 90% of the platform's total surface area. At 6 m deep, temperature peaked at 667 °C. (2) The conduction of the internal temperature of the spontaneous combustion of gangue discharge is a non-linear conduction, and the conduction of heat in the horizontal direction is lower than the vertical direction. (3) During the spontaneous combustion of gangue discharge over the next five years, the overall temperature increase is faster at first, then it decreases and eventually stabilises. The high-temperature zones extend 10 m from the slope to the interior in five years, and the high-temperature zones are oval-shaped. Pichia pastoris is the widely used expression system for producing recombinant secretory proteins. It is known that Kex2 protease plays a vital role in the process of protein secretion, in which the P1' site affects its cleavage efficiency. To enhance the expression level of fungal defensin-derived peptide NZ2114, this work attempts to optimize the P1' site of Kex2 by replacing it with 20 amino acids in turn. The results showed that when the amino acid of the P1' site was changed to Phe (F), the yield of target peptide significantly increased from 2.39 g/L to 4.81 g/L. Additionally, the novel peptide F-NZ2114 (short for FNZ) showed strong antimicrobial activity against Gram-positive (G+) bacteria, especially for Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus agalactiae (MIC: 4–8 μg/mL). The FNZ was very stable and retained high activity in various conditions; in addition, a low cytotoxicity and no hemolysis were observed even at a high concentration of 128 μg/mL, and a longer postantibiotic effect was reached. The above results indicate that this engineering strategy provided a feasible optimization scheme for enhancing the expression level and druggability of this antimicrobial peptide from fungal defensin and other similar targets by this updated recombinant yeast. Oral mucositis (OM) is a debilitating adverse event in patients undergoing treatment for cancer. This study aimed to evaluate the therapeutic effect of a novel handheld photobiomodulation therapy (PBMT) device on chemoradiation therapy (CRT)-induced OM in patients with head and neck cancer. Head and neck cancer patients undergoing CRT who developed moderate-to-severe OM during treatment were enrolled. After PBMT and at 2 and 4 weeks after PBMT, the mean value of OM grade decreased significantly from 2.63 to 2.13, 1.31, and 0.75, respectively (p < 0.05, p < 0.001, and p < 0.001). Moreover, we observed significant improvement in health-related quality of life (HRQoL) after PBMT compared to baseline through a validated questionnaire; EORTC QLQ-C30. In the present study, the use of this PBMT device in the management of CRT-induced OM in patients with head and neck cancer was generally well tolerated and resulted in the improvement of OM. However, evidence supporting its use remains lacking owing to limitations such as the small number of participants and lack of a control group. Therefore, further mechanistic studies and large-scale randomized controlled trials are needed to confirm the effectiveness of PBMT in the treatment of CRT-induced OM, as shown in our results. Toxoplasma gondii is an obligate protozoon that can infect all warm-blooded animals including humans. T. gondii afflicts one-third of the human population and is a detriment to the health of livestock and wildlife. Thus far, traditional drugs such as pyrimethamine and sulfadiazine used to treat T. gondii infection are inadequate as therapeutics due to relapse, long treatment period, and low efficacy in parasite clearance. Novel, efficacious drugs have not been available. Lumefantrine, as an antimalarial, is effective in killing T. gondii but has no known mechanism of action. We combined metabolomics with transcriptomics to investigate how lumefantrine inhibits T. gondii growth. We identified significant alternations in transcripts and metabolites and their associated functional pathways that are attributed to lumefantrine treatment. RH tachyzoites were used to infect Vero cells for three hours and subsequently treated with 900 ng/mL lumefantrine. Twenty-four hours post-drug treatment, we observed significant changes in transcripts associated with five DNA replication and repair pathways. Metabolomic data acquired through liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS) showed that lumefantrine mainly affected sugar and amino acid metabolism, especially galactose and arginine. To investigate whether lumefantrine damages T. gondii DNA, we conducted a terminal transferase assay (TUNEL). TUNEL results showed that lumefantrine significantly induced apoptosis in a dose-dependent manner. Taken together, lumefantrine effectively inhibited T. gondii growth by damaging DNA, interfering with DNA replication and repair, and altering energy and amino acid metabolisms. Soft errors are transient errors caused by single-event effects (SEEs) resulting from a strike by high-energy particles acting on sensitive areas of integrated circuits. Soft errors frequently occur in the space environment, adversely affecting the reliability of aerospace-based computing. A recovery process is launched to recover the program when soft errors are detected. A periodic checkpointing recovery approach is widely utilized to prevent soft errors. However, this approach does not consider the detector locations, resulting in a large time overhead. This paper proposes a checkpointing recovery approach for soft errors based on detector locations called DLCKPT. DLCKPT reduces the time overhead by considering detector locations. The experimental results show that the percentage decrease in the time overhead between the DLCKPT and the periodic checkpointing recovery approach is 13.4%. The average recovery rate and average space overhead are 99.3% and 44.4% for the periodic checkpointing recovery approach and 99.4% and 34.6% for the DLCKPT. These results show that the DLCKPT and the periodic checkpointing recovery approach produce comparable results for the recovery rate. The DLCKPT has a lower time overhead and a slightly lower space overhead than the periodic checkpointing recovery approach, demonstrating its effectiveness. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

With the accelerating growth of antimicrobial resistance (AMR), there is an urgent need for new antimicrobial agents with low or no AMR. Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) have been extensively studied as alternatives to antibiotics (ATAs). Coupled with the new generation of high-throughput technology for AMP mining, the number of derivatives has increased dramatically, but manual running is time-consuming and laborious. Therefore, it is necessary to establish databases that combine computer algorithms to summarize, analyze, and design new AMPs. A number of AMP databases have already been established, such as the Antimicrobial Peptides Database (APD), the Collection of Antimicrobial Peptides (CAMP), the Database of Antimicrobial Activity and Structure of Peptides (DBAASP), and the Database of Antimicrobial Peptides (dbAMPs). These four AMP databases are comprehensive and are widely used. This review aims to cover the construction, evolution, characteristic function, prediction, and design of these four AMP databases. It also offers ideas for the improvement and application of these databases based on merging the various advantages of these four peptide libraries. Precise and efficient fertilizer and irrigation management is critical for apple production in the Loess Plateau, China. In this study, we established three levels of nitrogen application and irrigation in nine treatments in an apple orchard based on a completely randomized block design. Then, we analyzed different apple indicator responses to nitrogen and irrigation and their related interactions. More importantly, we used the multilevel comprehensive fuzzy evaluation value (MFCE) method to combine the weights of all indicators to obtain the comprehensive growth indicators for apples. Finally, we analyzed the effect of nitrogen and irrigation coupling on the comprehensive growth of apples and then determined the optimal interval for nitrogen application and irrigation. The results indicated that an increase in the amount of irrigation was beneficial for apple yield, but excessive nitrogen fertilizer application significantly reduced apple yield. The apple indicators were not sensitive to irrigation and nitrogen application and their related interactions; they were mainly controlled by the apple cultivar. On the other hand, an increase in the amount of nitrogen fertilizer or a reduction in the amount of irrigation could improve apple quality. The results of the comprehensive evaluation showed that the T5 treatment was most beneficial for the comprehensive growth of apples. To obtain the optimal interval for nitrogen application and irrigation more precisely, we used multiple linear regression based on the MFCE values of apples, nitrogen, and irrigation in R language. Nitrogen and irrigation showed a positive effect on the comprehensive growth of apples when the irrigation amount was low. However, nitrogen application and irrigation had a negative effect on the comprehensive growth of apples when the irrigation level was high. After optimization, the optimal nitrogen application and irrigation amounts were 170.5–189.5 kg·hm−2 and 38.4–42.7 mm, respectively. Atmospheric gravity waves (GWs) in the mesosphere-lower thermosphere (MLT) are crucial for the understanding of general circulation. However, their dynamical characteristics are hardly retrieved due to the difficulty in the high-resolution observation of wind. Therefore, this paper uses eight years (2013–2020) of meteor radar measurements in the MLT region at Mohe station (53.5°N, 122.3°E), China, to retrieve high-temporal-resolution mesospheric wind data and further evaluate the temporal variation of GW kinetic energy. As the detected meteor trails exceed 6, the wind velocity is recalculated using the least square algorithm method, significantly increasing the temporal resolution of wind from 1 h up to 5 min. This resolution is sufficiently high for the investigation of GW kinetic energy, which exhibits a high spatial-temporal variability. For instance, it is enhanced in the winter season during the period of 0200–1400 UT and in the spring season during the period of 0800–1300 UT. The similarity between the climatological characteristics of GWs in MLT and the seasonal variation of GW total energy in the troposphere, determined from high-resolution radiosondes near to Mohe station, suggests that the meteorology in the lower atmosphere could be an important source of GWs in the MLT region. Background: Desertification is one of the main obstacles to global sustainable development. Monitoring, evaluating and mastering its driving factors are very important for the prevention and control of desertification. As one of the largest deserts in China, the development of desertification in Otindag Sandy Land (OSL) resulted in the reduction in land productivity and serious ecological/environmental consequences. Although many ecological restoration projects have been carried out, the vegetation restoration of OSL and the impact mechanism of climate and human activities on desertification remain unclear. Methods: Taking OSL as the research area, this paper constructs the desertification index by using the remote sensing images and meteorological and socio-economic data, between 1986 and 2016, and analyzes the spatio-temporal evolution process and driving factors of desertification by using trend analysis and spearman rank correlation. Results: The results showed that: (1) Desertification in the OSL has fluctuated greatly during the past 30 years. Desertification recovered between 1986 and 1990, expanded and increased between 1990 and 2000, reduced between 2000 and 2004, developed rapidly between 2004 and 2007, and recovered again between 2007 and 2016; (2) The desertification of OSL is dominated by a non-significant change trend, accounting for 73.27%. In the significant change trend, the area of desertification rising trend is 20.32%, which is mainly located in the north and east, and the area of declining trend is 6.41%, which is mainly located in the southwest; (3) Desertification is the result of the superposition of climate and human activities. Climate change is the main influencing factor, followed by human activities, and the superposition effects of the two are spatio-temporal differences. Conclusions: These results shed light on the development of desertification in OSL and the relative importance and complex interrelationship between human activities and climate in regulating the process of desertification. Based on this, we suggest continuing to implement the ecological restoration policy and avoid the destruction of vegetation by large-scale animal husbandry in order to improve the situation of desertification. The proposed non-conventional induction heating, which combines an MSCP and VDC structure, was proved to have excellent thermal effect. Different from other electric field sterilization, this electrotechnology operates with no electrodes, and it is a continuous-flow process with short-duration (about 20 s). In current study, the parameters related to temperature rise were investigated, including applied voltage, frequency, the diameter of the secondary coil and heating tube, as well as their length, etc. It was demonstrated that a smaller diameter of the heating tube, parallel connection sample coils, and higher frequency were beneficial for the inactivation of microorganisms. At 500 Hz, the optimal condition is 800 V, d1 = 2 mm, and L1 = 10 cm. Notably, the system could inactivate all microorganisms and maintained the physicochemical properties of apple juice at 40 kHz. It suggests that this structural design has the potential for industrial applications and the proposed induction heating can realize the rapid sterilization of liquid food without applying electrodes. Mild cognitive impairment (MCI) is the prodromal stage and an important risk factor of Alzheimer's disease (AD). Interventions at the MCI stage are significant in reducing the occurrence of AD. However, there are still many obstacles to the screening of MCI, resulting in a large number of patients going undetected. Given the strong correlation between gastrointestinal function and neuropsychiatric disorders, the aim of this study is to develop a risk prediction model for MCI based on gastrointestinal myoelectrical activity. The Mini-Mental State Examination and electrogastroenterography were applied to 886 participants in western China. All participants were randomly assigned to the training and validation sets in a ratio of 7:3. In the training set, risk variables were screened using LASSO regression and logistic regression, and risk prediction models were built based on nomogram and decision curve analysis, then validation was performed. Eight predictors were selected in the training set, including four electrogastroenterography parameters (rhythm disturbance, dominant frequency and dominant power ratio of gastric channel after meal, and time difference of intestinal channel after meal). The area under the ROC curve for the prediction model was 0.74 in the training set and 0.75 in the validation set, both of which exhibited great prediction ability. Furthermore, decision curve analysis displayed that the net benefit was more desirable when the risk thresholds ranged from 15% to 35%, indicating that the nomogram was clinically usable. Strategic coupling is a hot field in the research of global production networks. The existing literature mostly consists of studies from the perspective of countries, regions, and enterprises, and relatively lacks the content for describing global–local strategic coupling networks and their evolution path with industries as carriers. The GBA is a bridgehead for China to participate in the global production network. Based on the systematic construction of the strategic coupling network analysis framework of global–local knowledge spillovers, this paper, taking the biopharmaceutical industry of GBA as an example, depicts the evolution process of its coupling network nodes, structures, and networks from 1990 to 2019 by using system analysis, social network analysis, and other methods, and analyzes node centrality, network structure, coupling paths, and their influencing factors. We found that the strategic coupling of global–local knowledge spillover is typically a networked structure, with the network organization presenting a multi-element sub-system hierarchical state. The overall network structure, with knowledge spillover as the carrier, shows obvious phased differences, having gone through three path stages from exploratory to expanding to stable. The path selection shows a spatial progression and a temporal sequence. The main factors affecting the path selection of the coupling network are the bargaining power of regional knowledge, behavioral subjects' will, and multi-dimensional proximity. Digital technology-based online education is key to promoting high-quality development of higher education. Many studies have analyzed the effects of online education during the COVID-19 pandemic, but analyses based on large-scale data are lacking. This study uses a quasi-natural experiment during the COVID-19 pandemic to explore the short- and long-term relationships between emergency remote education (teaching and learning) and undergraduates' academic record using multiple comparison analysis of variance (ANOVA) and multiple linear regression. The research data come from the academic record of 123,208 courses of 2622 undergraduates from the classes of 2017–2021 in a Chinese university, across nine semesters. The data do not satisfy the homogeneity of variance hypothesis test; therefore, a non-parametric test is adopted for hypothesis testing. The results show that: (1) In the online education semester, the students' academic record improved substantially with low fluctuation and greater stability; (2) this improvement is more obvious for sophomores and juniors than for freshmen, and (3) online education during the pandemic period significantly improved the course scores of undergraduates, especially sophomores, in the following one or two semesters. Elevated remnant cholesterol is associated with an increased risk of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD). We aimed to evaluate the concentrations and general distribution of remnant cholesterol at admission in patients hospitalized for acute coronary syndrome (ACS), and those in patients who reached the low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) target or non-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (non-HDL-C) target. Patients with ACS who were enrolled in the Improving Care for Cardiovascular Disease in China—ACS project from 2014 to 2019 were included. Elevated remnant cholesterol concentrations were defined as ≥1.0 mmol/L. Among 94,869 patients, the median (interquartile range) remnant cholesterol concentration at admission was 0.6 mmol/L (0.4–0.9 mmol/L) and 19.2% had elevated remnant cholesterol concentrations. Among patients with LDL-C concentrations < 1.4 mmol/L, 24.4% had elevated remnant cholesterol concentrations, while the proportion was 13.3% among patients with LDL-C concentrations between 1.4 and 1.7 mmol/L. Among patients with non-HDL-C concentrations < 2.6 mmol/L, 2.9% had elevated remnant cholesterol concentrations but 79.6% had LDL-C concentrations ≥ 1.4 mmol/L. Even among patients with LDL-C < 1.4 mmol/L and non-HDL-C < 2.6 mmol/L, 10.9% had elevated remnant cholesterol. In conclusion, one fifth of patients with ACS have elevated remnant cholesterol concentrations at admission. Elevated remnant cholesterol concentrations are present in patients with LDL-C or/and non-HDL-C concentrations within the target, which represents an unmet need to add remnant cholesterol as a target for the secondary prevention of ASCVD. Simple Summary: Oligopeptide transporter 1 (PepT1) plays a role in the transportation and absorption of oligopeptides, which is an important part of protein nutrition and affects the growth of animals. Tributyrin (TB), the precursor of butyrate, exhibits similar functions to those of the butyrate in intestinal nutrients absorption. The analysis of TB on the growth of grass carp and its regulation pathway on PepT1 may help us to better understand the functions of TB and oligopeptide transportation via PepT1, which can be modulated by diet. In this study, we demonstrated that an appropriate level of tributyrin supplementation in the diet promoted the growth of juvenile grass carp and elevated the expressions of caudal type homeobox 2 (CDX2), specificity protein 1 (SP1), and PepT1 in the grass carp intestine and primary intestine cell. In addition, CDX2 and SP1 regulating the expression of PepT1 was investigated. Finally, CDX2/SP1-mediating tributyrin regulation on PepT1 was elucidated. This study verified the effect of tributyrin on the growth of juvenile grass carp and clarified the tributyrin regulation pathway on CDX2/SP1-PepT1. The nutritional functions of tributyrin (TB) have been extensively studied, but questions remain regarding its influence on the growth of juvenile grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idellus) and the regulation pathway to PepT1 in the intestine of grass carp. To answer the remaining questions, feeding trials, cell trials, and peritoneal injection trials were conducted in this study. The results showed that an appropriate level of TB (0.5 g/kg and 1.0 g/kg) supplementation in feed significantly promoted the growth performance of juvenile grass carp. The expressions of intestine genes (CDX2, SP1 and PepT1) related to oligopeptide transportation increased in the 0.5 g/kg TB group of feeding trials and both the 5 mM and 10 mM TB groups of the intestine cell trials, respectively. Subsequently, the injection trials of inhibitors CDX2 and SP1 demonstrated that the inhibition of CDX2 or SP1 decreased the mRNA expression of PepT1. Finally, the results of independent or combined treatments of TB and the inhibitors suggested that CDX2/SP1 mediated TB regulation on PepT1. These findings may help us to better understand the functions of TB on growth and PepT1 oligopeptide transportation, which could be modulated by dietary TB through the CDX2/SP1-PepT1 pathway in juvenile grass carp. In this study, Precipitation Estimation from Remotely Sensed Information Using Artificial Neural Networks–Climate Data Record (PERSIANN-CDR) was evaluated for the assessment of long-term drought monitoring in Huaihe River Basin using daily gauge observation data for the period from 1983 to 2017. The evaluation results show that the PERSIANN-CDR algorithm has a good detection ability for small precipitation events over the whole basin, but a poor ability for extreme precipitation events (>50 mm/day). Daily PERSIANN-CDR estimates perform relatively better in areas with abundant precipitation, while the monthly and yearly PERSIANN-CDR estimates are highly consistent with gauge observations both in magnitude and space. The Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI) at various time scales (3, 6, and 12 months) was calculated based on PERSIANN-CDR and gauge observation, respectively. Grid-based values of statistics derived from those SPI values demonstrate that PERSIANN-CDR has a good ability to capture drought events of each time scale across the basin. However, caution should be applied when using PERSIANN-CDR estimates for basin-scale drought trend analysis. Furthermore, three drought events with long duration and large extent were selected to test the applicability of PERSIANN-CDR in drought monitoring. The results show that it has a good ability to capture when and where droughts occur and how far they spread. Due to the overestimation of small precipitation events, PERSIANN-CDR tends to overestimate the number of extreme droughts and their extents. Temperature is an important aspect of land–atmosphere studies and plays a key role in urban environmental change. With the continuous development of satellite remote sensing sensors, remote sensing technology has become an important means of obtaining large-scale land surface temperature (LST) data. LST can be calculated from the thermal infrared band data of remote sensing images to analyze changes in temperature and determine its relationship with the surface type. In this study, a multitemporal multilevel (MTML) method for analyzing remotely sensed LST data is presented that analyzes attribute changes and correlations of remotely sensed LST data in different periods and at different temperature levels. First, the LST data were obtained under the same climatic conditions at different times, and the influence of climatic conditions on the LST data was excluded. Threshold superposition analysis was then performed on the temperature data to generate temperature-connected regions of different levels, and a tree structure was constructed. Each node in the tree structure represented a connected region. Finally, the attribute information of different connected regions at different levels was calculated, and the attribute changes and correlations between different times and levels were analyzed. In this study, five MODIS LST datasets from 15 May 2006, 1 May 2010, 7 May 2014, 29 April 2017, and 8 May 2021 in Henan Province of China were obtained, and MTML analysis was carried out. The experimental results showed that a negative correlation exists between temperature and the vegetation index, while a positive correlation exists between temperature and the built-up index. However, with an increase in the temperature level, the correlation between temperature and the surface feature type index decreased. In addition, there were more concentrated high-temperature areas in the northern, central, and western regions of Henan Province and lower temperatures in the eastern and southern regions. Coal gangue spontaneous combustion is a serious catastrophe associated with mining activities. Generally, the areas of coal gangue spontaneous combustion are regions of tremendous heat accumulation. Mastering the regularity of deep temperature distribution and eliminating internal heat is an effective method to control spontaneous combustion. In this study, using self-developed heat pipe (HP) and intelligent cloud monitoring software, three sets of single pipe experiments were conducted in different temperature areas of the coal gangue dump in Yinying Coal Mine. A fitted model between shallow and deep temperatures was established using the least squares method to perform goodness-of-fit tests and significance analysis, and to analyze the internal temperature variation under the action of an HP. The results show that the quadratic model fits better and the regression is significant, and can be used as an empirical regression formula for the shallow temperature estimation of the deep temperature. The temperature was clearly suppressed by the HP, and the average cooling range reaches 21.44% within 700 h. However, the temperature of the control group without an HP continued to rise by 8%. In the three experimental groups, the effective control radius of the single HP was 3 m. The best cooling was achieved when the gangue depth was 1 to 4 m and the temperature was between 90 °C and 450 °C. The study shows that the HP has a great effect on thermal removal and inhibits spontaneous combustion of the gangue. High-energy substances like effect propellant and propellant are used in fireworks. In the process of manufacture, transportation, and use, heat can easily get out of control. The emulsifier polyisobutene succinimide (T152) is frequently used to emulsify explosives. Given the thermal safety of the propellant in fireworks, this paper used the emulsifier T152 to emulsify the propellant. Thermogravimetric Fourier-transform infrared spectrometry and differential scanning calorimetry were used to analyze and test the propellant. In addition, several methods of thermokinetic calculation were used to calculate thermal stability. The thermal stability of the propellant before and after adding T152 was compared and analyzed. The test results indicate that the apparent activation energy of the propellant increases with the addition of T152. The emulsifier improved the thermal stability of the propellant. The research results can provide relevant data and suggestions for the thermal reaction of pyrotechnic propellants, thereby reducing the potential risks of the fireworks industry. Based on Landsat TM/ETM/OLI images and MODIS NDVI time series remote sensing data from 1999 to 2015, the changes of land use/cover types (including natural forests and plantations) through NDVI trends and their relationship with meteorological factors in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River (MRYR) were analyzed by supervised classification, coefficient of variation, trend analysis, rescaled range analysis, and partial correlation analysis. The results showed that, in the past 17 years, the main landscape type in the MRYR is forestland (accounting for more than 50%), and the built-up land and plantations area increased by four fifths and one fifth, respectively. The area of natural forests had been reduced by one fifth. Additionally, NDVI showed an upward trend (0.37%), especially in natural forests (0.57%). Two thirds of the natural forests had NDVI values greater than 0.80, and 89.21% of them were significantly improved. The area with an uncertain future development trend of all vegetation was more than half of the area. At the same time, partial correlation analysis with climate factors showed that relative humidity had an inhibitory effect on vegetation growth (p < 0.05). Climate factors had a certain lag effect on the growth of natural forests and plantations. Generally speaking, sunshine duration had a positive effect on forests growth, while relative humidity had a negative effect. The results showed that if the forest land was studied as a whole, many of the problems of natural forests and plantations would be ignored. The continuous decrease of natural forests and possible further degradation in the future are worthy of attention. In order to study the mechanical performance and friction slip mechanism of the interface of a composite timber column under inclined deformation, the unilateral contact mechanical model of an ancient composite timber column under inclined deformation is proposed in this paper. According to the limit of the inclination angle of slip point and the limit of the inclination angle of slip surface, the failure modes of the combination's interface can be divided into three stages: the fully sticky stage, the partially sticky stage and the sliding stage. The theoretical results of the sliding displacement and shear stiffness of the combination's interface under the effect of iron hoops were obtained by using the elastic mechanics method. Based on the shear sliding test of a composite timber column's interface under the effect of iron hoops, the influences of different parameters on the shear sliding performance of the combination's interface were investigated. The test results show that the number and the spacing of the iron hoops and the inclination angle of the interface are important factors affecting the shear strength of the combination's interface. The shear strength of the interface increased with the increase in the number of iron hoops and the inclination angle of the interface. Since hoop spacing that is too large or too small cannot effectively improve the shear capacity of the interface, there is an optimal value for the hoop spacing. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The penetrated mortise–tenon joint (PMT) connecting column and beam in traditional timber structures often has neighbouring gaps between connected structural members due to initial manufacture errors and damage accumulated over years. Influences of the neighbouring gaps on the mechanical properties of the PMT joint have been analysed based on a full-scale experimental study. Four typical gap values are determined according to the probability analysis of on-site survey results of a Chinese traditional timber structure. Four full-scale models of PMT joints with varied gap values have been established. Failure modes and deformation characteristics have been studied by quasi-static tests. Results show that the failure modes are the tearing of wood fiber along the grain at variable cross-sections. The loose penetrated mortise–tenon (LPMT) joints all have high deformability. The slip distance of tenon grows as the gap value increases. Limit angles of the loose joints lag with the increasing degree of loosening. The bending bearing capacity and rotational stiffness of LPMT joints decrease as the gap value increases, and the limitation value of the gap is analysed. The resisting capacities of LJ-2, LJ-3 and LJ-4 are much lower than that of LJ-1. The changing ratios are 18.5%, 55.4% and 70.4%, respectively. A three-parameter power function model of the mortise–tenon joint with consideration of the neighboring gap is presented. The catalytic conversion of CO2 to C2 products through the CO2 reduction reaction (CO2RR) offers the possibility of preparing carbon-based fuels and valuable chemicals in a sustainable way. Herein, various Fen and Co5 clusters are designed to screen out the good catalysts with reasonable stability, as well as high activity and selectivity for either C2H4 or CH3CH2OH generation through density functional theory (DFT) calculations. The binding energy and cohesive energy calculations show that both Fe5 and Co5 clusters can adsorb stably on the N-doped carbon (NC) with one metal atom anchored at the center of the defected hole via a classical MN4 structure. The proposed reaction pathway demonstrates that the Fe5-NC cluster has better activity than Co5-NC, since the carbon–carbon coupling reaction is the potential determining step (PDS), and the free energy change is 0.22 eV lower in the Fe5-NC cluster than that in Co5-NC. However, Co5-NC shows a better selectivity towards C2H4 since the hydrogenation of CH2CHO to CH3CHO becomes the PDS, and the free energy change is 1.08 eV, which is 0.07 eV higher than that in the C-C coupling step. The larger discrepancy of d band center and density of states (DOS) between the topmost Fe and sub-layer Fe may account for the lower free energy change in the C-C coupling reaction. Our theoretical insights propose an explicit indication for designing new catalysts based on the transition metal (TM) clusters supported on N-doped carbon for multi-hydrocarbon synthesis through systematically analyzing the stability of the metal clusters, the electronic structure of the critical intermediates and the energy profiles during the CO2RR.
