This article focuses on the life of medical doctor Kōzō Andō (安藤公三) and his family as My word count now says it is 198 words Japanese citizens in the British Empire, medical practitioners within inter-imperial biomedical frameworks and as intermediaries of Japanese imperialism during the Japanese occupation of Southeast Asia in World War II. The Andō family came to settle on the Malay peninsula in the late nineteenth century which was under the control of the British but still part of Japan's nan'yō imaginary. Both Kōzō Andō and his younger brother Jun'ichiro (安藤純一郎) were trained as medical doctors at the King Edward VII Medical College in Singapore, one of the well-regarded training institutions for medicine in the British Empire and Southeast Asia at the time. When Japan invaded Malaya, Kōzō Andō was made Chief Medical Officer of Syonan (Singapore), a position which he held until his retirement and return to Japan in 1943. The life of Kōzō Andō points to his ambiguous situation in Malaya under British and Japanese empires due to his positionality as Japanese, as part of a larger Asian racial category in Malaya, and as a medical doctor in an inter-imperial setting. Work stress is a critical phenomenon in the development of human capital. Work stress that is managed regularly will be able to increase family well-being. Although this issue has been widely studied, the role of work stress as an important predictor variable for family well-being is often neglected in the literature of work stress management in organizations. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the relationship between work stress and family well-being. A survey method was used to collect 160 data from employees in a public agency, Malaysia. Findings using SmartPLS software produced three main findings. First, role ambiguity has a significant relationship with family well-being. Second, role conflict has a significant relationship with family well-being. Third, role burden has a significant relationship with family well-being. This situation shows that the ability of employees to handle work stress prudently will help them balance work and family matters in the organization studied. This study investigated the determinants of entrepreneurial intention, namely entrepreneurial self-efficacy, risk propensity, innovativeness, tolerance to ambiguity, individualism, collectivism and power distance and also the mediating effect of entrepreneurial self-efficacy among school students in Malaysia. A questionnaire survey was used to collect the data, and purposive sampling was employed. A total of 351 students from the state of Johor, Malaysia, were involved and this study used Smart-PLS 3.0 to analyze the data. The results showed that collectivism and power distance had an insignificant relationship with entrepreneurial intention. Meanwhile, entrepreneurial self-efficacy was found to have a partial mediating effect on the relationship between risk propensity and entrepreneurial intention. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to reflect on the data collected from Malaysian students to investigate the effects of students' entrepreneurial characteristics (need for achievement, locus of control, propensity to take risk, self-confidence, tolerance of ambiguity and uncertainty, and leadership) on their propensity to become entrepreneurs in Malaysia. Design/methodology/approach: As a quantitative study, various analyses, such as exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation modelling, were conducted to analyze the data collected from 257 students known to have participated in entrepreneurship course and programmes. Findings: The results show that leadership skill, need for achievement, tolerance of ambiguity, and risk-taking propensity are positively and significantly associated with students' intention to initiate entrepreneurial activities in Malaysia. Originality/value: The researchers have used data from the perspective of Malaysian students to increase the readers' understanding on students' entrepreneurial characteristics that could enhance their likelihood to become entrepreneurs in Malaysia.
