This textbook is a course in American history through the administration of President Woodrow Wilson. This work is offered to American youth in the confident belief that as they study the wonderful history of their native land they will learn to prize their birthright more highly, and treasure it more carefully. Following an introduction that includes the Indians, the Northmen, and Epochs of American History, topics cover: (1) Early Discoveries and Explorations; (2) Development of the English Colonies; (3) The Revolutionary War; (4) Development of the States (to 1861); (5) The Civil War. Lincoln's Administration; and (6) Development of the Nation (since 1865). Colored maps are included.

The article presents selected readings taken from the book. The author relates that man as compared with other vertebrate animals is constructed after the same type as the cat that purrs at his feet, the ox that he eats, and the horse that bears his burden. Moreover, one of the two bones to which a muscle is attached is usually less mobile than the other.

Lastly, it discusses the process of digestion including mastication and insalvation, gastric digestion, and intestional digestion.

Chapter 3 of the book "Hygienic Physiology" is presented. It provides information that skin is a tough, thin, close fitting garment for the protection of the tender flesh. It presents the composition of the skin which includes the hair and the nails, the mucous membrane, and the teeth. It also discusses the diseases in the skin including erysipelas, eczema, and corns.

Chapter 9 of the book "Hygienic Physiology" is presented. It explores the health and diseases of the human system. It also presents the prevention of diseases which people can get through proper knowledge and observance of hygienic laws. Lastly, it discusses the cure of disease which is to obey the law of health which has been violated by many people.

Chapter 8 of the book "Hygienic Physiology" is presented. It explores the human body's special senses including the sense of touch, sense of taste, sense of smell, sense of hearing, and sense of sight. It also presents the proper care of these special senses. Lastly, it discusses the uses of each senses.

Chapter 4 of the book "Hygienic Physiology" is presented. It explores the composition of the respiration and the voice system. The organs of respiration include the trachea, the bronchial tube, the cells, the lung wrapping, and the cilia. Lastly, it discusses the diseases of the respiratory system including bronchitis, pneumonia, and pleurisy.

Chapter 5 of the book "Hygienic Physiology" is presented. It explores the human body's circulation. The organs of circulation system include the heart, the arteries, the veins, and the capillaries. Lastly, it discusses the diseases involving the circulation including congestion, inflammation, and bleeding.

Chapter 2 of the book "Hygienic Physiology" is presented. It explores the composition of the muscles. It also presents the kinds of muscles which include the voluntary and the involuntary muscles. Lastly, it discusses the diseases of the muscles including St. Vitus' Dance, convulsions, and locked-jaw.
