The development of technology creates a new concept in trading by combining real-time video with commercial activities known as live-streaming commerce. Livestreaming commerce or better known as shoppertaiment is a combination of electronic commerce and entertainment. The trend of shopping through livestreaming commerce is increasing, thus changing consumer habits and everyday lifestyles. Based on this situation, it is necessary to conduct research on livestreaming commerce. The aim of the research conducted is to consider the results of pre-existing studies and systematically review literature reviews on livestreaming commerce research by summarizing all academic scientific publication papers from 2017 to 2022. The research questions from this study were: (1) What are the current live-streaming commerce studies? (2) What research methods have been used in live-streaming commerce studies? (3) What are the potentials for future research on live-streaming commerce research? To answer the first question, various aspects of live streaming commerce are described, such as definitions, types, technologies, challenges, benefits, and models. Answer the second question by applying various methods and techniques. To describe the practical experience of delivering a proactive and integrated consultation-liaison (C-L) psychiatry service model (PICLP). PICLP is designed for older medical inpatients and is explicitly biopsychosocial and discharge-focused. In this paper we report: (a) observations on the training of 15 clinicians (seven senior C-L psychiatrists and eight assisting clinicians) to deliver PICLP; (b) the care they provided to 1359 patients; (c) their experiences of working in this new way. A mixed methods observational study using quantitative and qualitative data, collected prospectively over two years as part of The HOME Study (a randomized trial comparing PICLP with usual care). The clinicians were successfully trained to deliver PICLP according to the service manual. They proactively assessed all patients and found that most had multiple biopsychosocial problems impeding their timely discharge from hospital. They integrated with ward teams to provide a range of interventions aimed at addressing these problems. Delivering PICLP took a modest amount of clinical time, and the clinicians experienced it as both clinically valuable and professionally rewarding. The experience of delivering PICLP highlights the special role that C-L psychiatry clinicians, working in a proactive and integrated way, can play in medical care. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Floating bridges are economically attractive alternatives used for crossing wide and deep straits or fjords. They have played a crucial role in transportation since the early 20th century. Although several floating bridges are currently in operation worldwide, their design standards are not mature, especially associated with the dynamic response analysis. To this end, a review of the relevant advances and research directions of floating bridges is presented. In this paper, the development and types of floating bridges are briefly introduced. To evaluate the dynamic responses of floating bridges, research advances are reviewed from the perspectives of numerical simulations, model tests, and field measurements. It has shown that floating bridges are exposed to complex coastal environmental conditions in which combinations of various loads can induce significant load effects. Challenges can come from environmental inhomogeneity, structural flexibility, coupled effects, and multi-disasters. Besides, the existing research methods have more or less shortcomings, making it difficult to effectively analyze their dynamic responses. This paper summarizes the previous methods for the dynamic response analysis of floating bridges, with an emphasis on loads and load effects. Populism has emerged as a central explanation employed by both media outlets and scholars for the mishandling of the COVID-19 crisis. Nonetheless, the relationship between public health and populism extends before and beyond the pandemic. This paper offers a comprehensive overview of existing evidence and theoretical conceptualisations on the intersection of populism, health emergencies, and contrarian scientific positions, drawing from a diverse range of disciplines. I conducted a scoping review of 283 original studies, analysing their analytical framework, geographic focuses, and methodological approaches. Employing quantitative text analysis, I summarised the research field into 18 common topics, organised into five coherent categories: citizen's perspective, political elites, political communication, pandemic consequences, and non-COVID-related issues. While the scholarly interest in this area has surged since the onset of the pandemic, it has predominantly concentrated on specific cases, such as Brazil and the US, often conflating different policy types. The evidence summary elucidates that populism assumes varying roles within distinct contexts, and there is no linear relationship between political populism and specific approaches to health crises and science. I further compare definitions of populism within the context of health and scientific positions. I propose that future research should employ a policy typology for health emergency responses, assessing political positions based on policy arenas. The aim of the study was to assess the usefulness of analysing visual material in a 3D environment when examining spatial interrelations between the incident participants, tools, and space surrounding the incident site. Such analysis may provide information about the trauma mechanism, which may lead to the determination of probable events. This paper points to the potential of conducting research under 3D environment conditions on the example of a specific criminal incident—a suspected homicide. The aim of the study was to identify possible circumstances of the events with particular emphasis on the mechanism of death and the involvement of third parties. It was performed a comprehensive 3D reconstruction of the elements of the incident using different sources and forms of evidence, and consequently also different imaging, analysis, and synthesis technologies. The resulting 3D reconstruction and animation of the possible events serve to verify the investigative hypotheses. The paper combines a technical description of the research methodology with a forensic commentary, which ultimately creates an integral synthesis of the medicolegal assessment for trial purposes, while presenting the effectiveness of the research methods used. Gifts are a powerful way to acknowledge and strengthen interpersonal relationships. As with any relational space, gifting plays various roles in forming and maintaining relationships in political contexts, but its contribution to relationship-building has attracted little attention. This paper examines how politicians in Aotearoa New Zealand both engage with gifting and how they navigate the perceptions of others. Four current members of parliament (MPs) and six retired MPs participated in semi-structured interviews with questions on common practices and common understandings about political gifting. Their responses indicate their use of four different processes: formal processes are the guidelines provided by the government on gifting, but when these are insufficient, contextual processes regarding perceptions of the media, constituents or colleagues are used, or, alternatively, MPs rely on personal values or view gifting in terms of transactional processes with both parties receiving benefits. The paper explores perceptions and complexities of a sequence of gifts during events (event gifting). • Permanent supportive housing (PSH) is one setting which aims to provide stability and community to those who have experienced homelessness. • PSH has not been widely studied with young adults. • This paper uses mixed method to explore how young adult residents experience psychological sense of community (PSOC) before and after moving into PSH. • We find that building community takes time and requires opportunities for voices to be heard, along with ongoing personal growth (often related to substance use recovery). • Future PSH settings for young people should consider how to support residents in their individual journeys, and in building community. Amidst chronic stressors and ongoing instability, many young people who have experienced homelessness and housing instability find communities and settings which offer support and care. Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) is one setting which aims to provide stability and community to those who have experienced homelessness, but it has not been widely studied with young adults (ages 18–25 upon moving into PSH). This paper employs a longitudinal convergent mixed methods approach – with quantitative and qualitative survey data over 1.5 years – to explore how young adult residents (N = 27 at T1; N = 20 at T2, N = 13 at T3) experience sense of community before and after moving into PSH. Using McMillan and Chavis' (1986) four-part Psychological Sense of Community (PSOC) framework to frame data collection and analysis, we find that residents' sense of community is shaped by an ongoing negotiation of personal and collective needs. Building community takes time and requires opportunities for voices to be heard (and shape change), along with ongoing personal growth – especially related to substance use recovery. Our findings offer insights for future PSH settings for young people – as well as other residential and community settings which aim to support young people. We suggest the need for future research which explores the tension of policy decision making, about substance use for example, in low-barrier support services like PSH. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

• Inclined stiffened panels of the fuselage tail were tested under shear load. • The simulation model was established to predict the buckling, post-buckling, and failure modes of inclined stiffened composite panels. • The non-linear relationship between the debonding of the stiffeners and the skin was quantitatively analyzed. • The concept of equivalent skin thickness was introduced to analyze the influence of stringer configuration on panel buckling and post-buckling. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the buckling and post-buckling behavior of inclined stiffened composite panels under shear load. Two types of stiffened composite panels were manufactured and tested. The buckling load, ultimate load and other required structural properties of the inclined stiffened composite panels were obtained. The test results show that the failure load of the two types of panels are 5.79 times and 11.2 times of the buckling load, respectively, indicating that such inclined stiffened panels have a large post-buckling capacity. The damage modes of the panel are tearing around the skin near the clamps and debonding of the stringers from the skin. The combination of Hashin failure criterion, Cohesive model and nonlinear connection of clamp was used to conduct finite element modeling, which effectively predicts the buckling, post-buckling and damage modes of the structure. The buckling and post-buckling behavior of stiffened panels with different stinger configurations were discussed based on finite element analysis. The results show that when the initial buckling occurs between the stringers, the buckling and failure load of the stiffened panel become larger as the equivalent skin thickness between the stringers become larger. This paper introduces an innovative method for enhanced researcher reflexivity: the use of synchronous collective writing as a space to collaboratively reflect on experiences of subjectification within the contemporary academy. We explore how, despite its apparent importance to contemporary research, the neoliberalisation of academia leaves little room for meaningful reflexivity. The authors in this paper – ranging from Master's student to postdoctoral researcher – wrote collaboratively in real-time to organically develop a method of collective reflexivity. Through auto-ethnographic vignettes that act as raw data, and a critical analysis of how we came to experience the events showcased in these vignettes, we analyse how our positionalities shape both our subjection to, and perpetuation of, systems of symbolic violence in neoliberal academic institutions. Through this method, we explore experiences of the contemporary university as patriarchal, intensively marketised, and as a space where the prevalence of 'weak' reflexivity has negative impacts on research ethics. We argue that the affect of collaborative writing spaces acts as a resistance against our experiences of loneliness, competition and individualism. • Participatory research approaches offer new opportunities for studying mentoring and social capital. • Presents experiences with two user groups: mentoring practitioners and migrant youth (mentees). • Challenges in youth understanding and meaningful engagement. • Challenges in practitioner blending of roles and resource constraints. • Close researcher-practitioner collaboration provided benefits for the mentoring organization, as well as meaningful participation and benefits for a few of the youth. Participatory approaches have gained broad interest among researchers as a vehicle for allowing participants' experiences and voices to inform research, beyond simply being a source of data. However, participants in mentoring programs, particularly young people, often are not included in research partnerships in a meaningful way. Additionally, practitioners often struggle to translate research findings into program improvements. This paper examines the experiences of a research team collaborating with two user groups: mentoring practitioners, and youth with migrant and refugee backgrounds participating in mentoring programs. With ambitions for meaningful user involvement, our aim was to develop and test a digital intervention for supporting social capital in mentoring. The paper draws primarily upon participant observation and qualitative data from a focus group and panel discussions. While youth voices did inform and shape the research, we also experienced challenges related to youth understanding and engagement. The adult practitioners participated actively but encountered tensions due to their dual roles as co-researchers and mentoring professionals, and resource constraints. Ultimately, a close collaboration enabled the co-creation of adaptations to our research approaches, allowing meaningful participation for some of the youth, and facilitating program changes. This paper offers lessons for researchers wishing to conduct participatory research in the context of youth mentoring, as well as specific suggestions for those studying social capital. According to popular understandings, children grow from a state of dependence to eventually become independent adults. Interdependence helps to disrupt the in/dependence binary and is a useful concept for making sense of the experiences young people with variations in sex characteristics in relation to healthcare. This study used semi-structured interviews with 32 health professionals, 33 caregivers and 12 young people recruited in the UK and Sweden. The analysis is guided by the questions: (1) how do young people, carers and health professionals position themselves in the adult/young person relationship in the context of healthcare? (2) how is the (in/ter)dependence of young people imagined when young people, carers and health professionals talk about healthcare? Our analysis shows how carers and health professionals might support dominant understandings about young people growing towards independence while providing little opportunity for young people's agency and voice. Interviews with young people gave clear examples of their negotiating relational ways of being, seeking agency in the context of healthcare and not simply becoming independent of adults. This analysis also draws attention to the ways young people might be silenced within healthcare contexts. The present paper is based on secondary analysis of data from the SENS. It works with concepts of relationality and interdependence to draw out the possibilities of voice and agency for young people with variations in sex characteristics in healthcare contexts. • Youth with variations in sex characteristics are sometimes silenced in the clinic. • There is sometimes too little room for youth agency in healthcare. • A relational approach could improve the healthcare experiences of young people. • Working towards interdependence, not simply independence, can support youth. • It is important to value knowledge that is based on intersex lived experience. The factors that inhibit and promote professional interventions with young adults refer to social, formal-structural, and personal factors. Nevertheless, studies of these factors from social workers' perspective, and research of the inhibitors associated with the socio-cultural context of minority young adults, are few. The aim of the present study was to examine social workers' perceptions of the factors that inhibit and promote interventions in the socio-cultural and formal-structural context of at-risk young Arab-Palestinian women in Israel, who are at an intersection of marginal positions. Semi-structured in-depth interviews were conducted with 21 social workers. The findings revealed two themes: 1) Social workers' perceptions of the challenges in two dimensions, a) socio-cultural factors which include family centrality in the young women's life, and b) formal-structural inhibitors. 2) Promoting factors which include professional values and the need for cooperation between organizations themselves and with recipients of the services The findings were reviewed according to the intersectional invisibility model, and were based on the concept of institutional discrimination, which showed that at-risk young Arab women experience an intersectional invisibility of their identities and, at the same time, the social workers experience a conflicting situation within the wider context of intersectional discrimination. Australia's prisons have a high chronic hepatitis C (HCV) prevalence (8 %). Antiviral therapies and prison-based hepatitis services are available, but only a minority of those eligible are being treated. Improving the HCV public health literacy of the prison sector via targeted education may overcome key barriers to scale-up treatment. This paper describes the: i) HCV public health literacy of the prison setting; ii) barriers and solutions for HCV education and service engagement; iii) HCV education program co-design and development processes; and iv) HepPEd resources. A national needs assessment was conducted to analyse the HCV public health literacy of the target audience groups in the prisons (healthcare providers; custodial officers; people in prison) to inform development of a prison-specific HCV education program (HepPEd). Structured interviews were conducted with key informants (n = 40). Three National Steering Committees, one for each target group, were convened to co-design and develop HepPEd. Only healthcare providers involved with hepatitis care were considered to have 'good' to 'very good' HCV health literacy (including knowledge, attitudes, and capabilities), with all other groups considered less favourably. Key barriers identified included being time poor (healthcare providers), poor motivation (custodial officers) and stigma (people in prison). Peer education delivery was considered a key facilitator for custodial officers and people in prison. A suite of multi-modal resources addressing the perceived gaps in HCV health literacy was developed, with a broad theme of 'Let's talk about hep C'. Delivery of HepPEd was designed to overcome key barriers and utilise facilitators for each group. Significant gaps in HCV health literacy were perceived amongst the target audience groups. The comprehensive co-design and development processes utilised in HepPEd suggest the program will be well-placed to improve the HCV public health literacy of the prison sector and thereby enhance HCV testing and treatment rates amongst people in prison. Assessing the internal dynamics of organizations has been shown to provide information that can help planners and policymakers improve service delivery. A good organizational climate, which in this study incorporates mission clarity, team cohesion, staff autonomy, communication, levels of stress, and openness to change has been shown to be of particular importance. Still, there is a dearth of evidence in this area, and while relationships between organizational factors have been identified, little is known about the mechanisms that might underpin these relationships, and there is little understanding of how to address deficits once they are identified. The objective of this study was to identify relationships between program factors that influence organizational climate and to explore which mechanisms might underpin these relationships. This paper reports on a cross-sectional, concurrent, mixed-methods study design, across twelve discrete community-based prescribing service providers (organizations) in Ireland. Data was obtained using a staff survey [ n = 132] which utilized measurements of organizational readiness to change and one-to-one interviews [ n = 12]. Quantitative data was analyzed using multivariate linear regression modeling which assessed relationships between variables, while interviews were analyzed using an abductive approach, both types of data were synthesized at the interpretation stage. A range of interdependent factors were considered to affect the climate of organizations. Surveys identified that specific types of resources, such as physical infrastructure, training, and staffing resources were important for supporting a good organizational climate, while programs with greater needs had a poorer climate. Opportunities for professional growth, the skill sets of staff, and having access to e-communication were also significant. Interviewees reported that rigid organizational hierarchies and bureaucracy, philosophical views of addiction, stress, and staff turnover were influenced by the provision of fewer resources. Interdependent factors such as leadership, supervision, staff relationships, and collective training, also thought to be influenced by resources, were considered to positively influence programs. Resources were not the only challenge identified, and practices within programs and how existing resources are used were also thought to contribute both positively and negatively to the internal dynamics of services. Key findings in this study identified that the organization of effective services is influenced by a range of specific factors, some of which can be addressed without additional resources. Overall, staff views of organizations can provide us with valuable information to support service improvement. Using a mixed methods approach can not only identify where relationships between organizational variables exist but can also help us to understand the mechanisms that underpin these relationships and, importantly, how to address deficits once they are identified. The social identity approach to leadership posits that leaders' effectiveness depends on their ability to represent, advance, create, and embed a shared sense of social identity among their followers. Although significant progress has been made in investigating the benefits of identity leadership in adult sports, research in youth sports is still in its infancy. One reason is the lack of a youth-centric inventory that adequately measures identity leadership in this population. To bridge this gap, we developed and validated a long (16 items) and short (5 items) version of the Identity Leadership Inventory for Youth Sport (ILI-Y or ILI-Y-Short-Form) through five studies conducted in three phases of research. Data were primarily collected in football in the United Kingdom, involving a total of 1096 participants. Results of Phase I of this study provided little to no evidence that the ILI – originally developed for adults – was understandable (Study 1) and had factor validity and internal consistency (Study 2) in a sample of youth athletes. Therefore, in Phase II, the ILI was revised, leading to the development of the ILI-Y, which was understandable for youth athletes (Study 3). Results from Phase II (Study 4) also indicated that the ILI-Y exhibited a unidimensional factor structure, which was subsequently confirmed in Phase III (Study 5). This last phase offered additional evidence for the discriminant, criterion, and incremental validity of the ILI-Y and its short form, along with their measurement invariance across genders and age groups, and internal consistency. Sterilization is now the most common contraceptive method used by women of in the U.S., and sterilization devices have played an important role in its increased popularity. This mixed methods study examines a random sample of 2500 U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) adverse event reports made between 2006 and 2017 about Essure, a sterilization device. Quantitative coding was used to examine patient problems; pain and bleeding were reported most frequently. Qualitative coding analyzed impacts of symptoms on patients' everyday lives and patients' healthcare experiences, including intimate relationships, mothering, and paid employment. Findings suggest that some patients struggled when their reported "subjective" symptoms didn't result in "objective" clinical signs of problems, and when physicians dismissed or deflected their concerns in diagnostic encounters. The Overall Assessment of the Speaker's Experience of Stuttering for Adults (OASES-A; Yaruss & Quesal, 2016) is a widely used measurement tool designed to evaluate the adverse impact associated with stuttering. Items examine general perceptions of stuttering, personal reactions to stuttering, functional communication difficulties, and consequences for quality of life. This paper presents a shortened research version of the OASES-A response form (OASES-A-R) that can be used by researchers in scientific studies involving adults who stutter that reflect the Section and Total Scores of the original OASES-A using fewer items. Previously collected OASES-A data (N = 315) were analyzed via graded response modeling to identify discrimination values of each OASES-A item in measuring each OASES-A Section Total Score. Items with the highest discrimination and items judged by expert clinicians to be more important in measuring adverse impact (N = 27) were used to create a shortened OASES-A-R. The shortened OASES-A-R response form was then validated and compared to the full OASES-A response form in an independent sample (N = 156). The shortened 25-item OASES-A-R response form demonstrated very high and positive correlations with the full OASES-A response form. Similarly, each OASES-A-R Section demonstrated high internal reliability coefficients similar to those of the OASES-A. The resulting 25-item OASES-A-R response form provides a reflection of the speaker's experience of stuttering as measured by the original 100-item OASES-A that is suitable for use in certain research studies of adults who stutter. Clinical use is not recommended, as the full OASES-A provides additional insights about a client's experience of stuttering that are necessary for effective treatment planning and intervention. • The OASES-A-R is a 25 item research version of the OASES-A created and validated on the 100 item OASES-A. • The OASES-A-R was created via best pracAces in accordance with Item Response Theory. • The OASES-A-R can therefore be used, as appropriate, in certain research studies of adults who stutter. Seawater intrusion has been a globally significant environmental issue. This paper comprehensively reviews and highlights the research methods of seawater intrusion in China, recommending the potential application of novel radioactive radium-radon isotopes. Geochemical and geophysical techniques have been extensively utilized in studying seawater intrusion in China, including methods such as hydrochemical analysis, groundwater level observations, geophysical survey techniques, and isotope tracing. The former three methodologies boast a lengthier historical application in seawater intrusion field, while the radium-radon tools in isotope tracing, as newcomers, can specifically indicate crucial scientific questions such as seawater intrusion rates, salt groundwater age, water-rock reactions, and preferential flow dynamics. However, it is imperative to acknowledge the limitations inherent in the utilization of radium-radon tools within the realm of seawater intrusion research, as with any other methodologies. Strategic integration of radium-radon tools with other methodologies will propel advancements in the investigation of seawater intrusion in China. While the primary focus is on research methods in China, insights gained from novel radium-radon tools could have broader value for seawater intrusion research and coastal management globally. • Beneficial help relationships go beyond formal professional practice. • Peers and friends are central to youths' beneficial help seeking trajectories. • Family gestures and home practices are embedded in beneficial help relationships. The literature on help engagement of commercially sexually exploited youth has tended to focus on the challenges of such relationships and has been mostly grounded in studies of professional help relations from professional perspectives. This study is part of a large-scale study on help seeking and help related experiences from the perspectives of commercially sexually exploited youth (CSEY). This paper focuses specifically on the beneficial characteristics of help as seen by CSEY. Fifty commercially sexually exploited youths, in the present or in the past. In-depth semi-structured interviews, conducted and analyzed in accordance with the principles of Constructivist Grounded Theory. The study identified four characteristics of beneficial help that were salient both to help relations with professionals and in relations with peers and friends: Continuity and long-term ties; Sharing similarities; brokering help by others; "doing family," and "performing home." The significance of the various help experiences appeared to be more a function of how the help was provided and the nature of the relationship, rather than whether it was provided by formal or informal helpers. Nonetheless, the study underscores the critical importance of care and support by peers and friends and calls for further examination of the ways these might be integrated into services and programs for youths who are subject to commercial sexual exploitation. This paper examines the relationships within and outside organisations that have the leverage to influence culture in the context of men's elite football clubs in Norway. Participants from three clubs held positions as Performance Director (n =2), sport psychology practitioner (n = 3), and physiotherapist (n = 2) and participated in semi-structured interviews focusing on the relationships, tensions, and dynamic organisational forces in their respective clubs. Using reflexive thematic analysis, we developed two overarching themes showing (1) Organisational cultures in time frames and (2) Relationships among stakeholders influencing organisational culture. Developing these themes indicated that an organisational culture is not only a point of arrival, but also a point of departure for future activities. Hence, those charged with organisational culture work must maintain awareness of the influence of a club's history and how it influences dynamic tensions with stakeholders within and outside clubs. It is also critical that cultural practitioners are mindful of players' and staffs' individual journeys, which influence how they self-organise into fluid and temporary subgroups. The findings can sharpen our understanding of working with culture in elite football by emphasising other sources of culture besides leaders' attempts at controlling or steering it in their preferred way. Transmasculine people (TM) constitute an invisibilized group within the transgender population. Little is known about their relationship to sexuality in transgender medicine. Their presence and needs are still unacknowledged within HIV prevention research and services. Pre-exposure prophylaxis (or PrEP) is an oral medication that prevents HIV in HIV-negative individuals at risk of infection with the virus. This paper proposes to bring TM back into the focus of PrEP research by questioning how they navigate and situate themselves in relation to existing PrEP categorization and services, and how they think about and (re)shape the meanings of PrEP. It is based on the "interpretative descriptive" method and a transfeminist theoretical framework applied to the analysis of ten semi-structured interviews with TM conducted in France between 2019 and 2023. Findings show that PrEP is gendered. We identify specific barriers to getting PrEP as well as to access healthcare and we show that a cisnormative and homonormative approach to prevention generates them. PrEP use and PrEP disclosure are embedded in structural and symbolic power relations between cisgender and transgender MSM that are reflected in the intimate sphere. TM use PrEP to prevent sexual assault and to alleviate the difficulty of condom negotiation. Modeling reading comprehension processes is a critical task for Learning Analytics, as accurate models of the reading process can be used to match students to texts, identify appropriate interventions, and predict learning outcomes. This paper introduces an improved version of the Automated Model of Comprehension, namely version 4.0. AMoC has its roots in two theoretical models of the comprehension process (i.e., the Construction-Integration model and the Landscape model), and the new version leverages state-of-the-art Large Language models, more specifically ChatGPT, to have a better contextualization of the text and a simplified construction of the underlying graph model. Besides showcasing the usage of the model, the study introduces three in-depth psychological validations that argue for the model's adequacy in modeling reading comprehension. In these studies, we demonstrated that AMoC is in line with the theoretical background proposed by the Construction-Integration and Landscape models, and it is better at replicating results from previous human psychological experiments than its predecessor. Thus, AMoC v4.0 can be further used as an educational tool to, for example, help teachers design better learning materials personalized for student profiles. Despite significant efforts to improve access to medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD), uptake remains low relative to the scope of the problem in the United States. A growing body of quantitative and qualitative research has documented consistent barriers to MOUD treatment access and retention, at the level of individuals, institutions, and society at large. Stigma - surrounding both people who use opioids (PWUO) and treatment using MOUD – is among the most-cited barriers by patients and providers alike, yet few studies have examined provider-based stigma specifically, or considered its interaction with other impediments to OUD care. This paper employs a qualitative approach to the analysis of provider-based stigma among professionals involved in the treatment or supervision of individuals with OUD. We conducted and analyzed interviews with 19 professionals as part of a larger mixed methods study on stigma among substance use treatment providers and court personnel in Pennsylvania. Beyond capturing providers' perceptions of PWUO and MOUD, the authors asked participants to describe barriers to recovery, and the effective delivery of care within this population. Interviewees enumerated multiple entrenched barriers that sometimes operated at different levels, such as criminal-legal involvement, which weakened PWUO's social networks and employment prospects, while undermining providers' attempts at continuity of care; moreover, participants cited the "War on Drugs" as an overarching impediment to effective substance use treatment, not least for its role in perpetuating stigma against PWUO. Interestingly, while an overwhelming majority of participants named stigma as a barrier to treatment at every level, most also articulated stigmatizing beliefs around PWUO. Namely, providers evoked one element of stigma – blameworthiness – in their contention that many PWUO are inadequately motivated to recover. This paper examines the impact of residence-based ethnic networks on mental health; such networks are defined as the concentration of residents from the same country of origin in a neighborhood. To estimate the effect, we utilize administrative registry data, together with data on quasi-random assignment of apartments to non-Western households with housing needs to various neighborhoods. After controlling for individual characteristics, time-invariant neighborhood characteristics, and general practitioners (GP) fixed effects, we find that a 1–percentage-point increase in the concentration of residence-based co-ethnics (RBCEs) increases the probability of being treated with psychiatric medications by 0.7-percentage point over a 5-year period after the assignment. With 19% of the population being treated with psychiatric medications the year before assignment, the result translates into an effect size of 3.7%. The results indicate that relatively high concentrations of co-ethnics treated with psychiatric medications increase the probability of being treated with psychiatric medications. The positive impact on treatment with psychiatric medication reflects an increase in the demand for these drugs when moving into a neighborhood with neighbors of the same ethnicity. If new residents are in good mental health condition when moving, these results suggest that moving into a neighborhood with a high co-ethic concentration worsens mental health status. However, as the population in this study is a vulnerable group an increase in treatment with psychiatric medications likely reflects that untreated mental health problems are treated, and the mental health status improved. Understanding barriers to abortion care is particularly important post -Dobbs. However, many abortion access studies recruit from abortion-providing facilities, which overlook individuals who do not present for clinic-based care. To our knowledge, no studies have reviewed research recruitment strategies in the literature or considered how they might affect our knowledge of abortion barriers. We aimed to identify populations included and sampling methods used in studies of abortion barriers in the United States. We used a scoping review protocol to search five databases for articles examining US-based individuals' experiences accessing abortion. We included English-language articles published between January 2011 and February 2022. For included studies, we identified the sampling strategy and population recruited. Our search produced 2763 articles, of which 71 met inclusion criteria. Half of the included papers recruited participants at abortion-providing facilities (n = 35), while the remainder recruited from online sources (n = 14), other health clinics (n = 10), professional organizations (n = 8), abortion funds (n = 2), community organizations (n = 2), key informants (n = 2), and an abortion storytelling project (n = 1). Most articles (n = 61) reported information from people discussing their own abortions; the rest asked nonabortion seekers (e.g., physicians, genetic counselors, attorneys) about barriers to care. Studies of abortion barriers enroll participants from a range of venues, but the majority recruit people who obtained abortions, and half recruit from abortion clinics. As abortion access becomes constrained and criminalized in the post- Roe context, our findings indicate how investigators might recruit study participants from a variety of settings to fully understand the abortion seeking experience. When patients are brought to the emergency room with a traumatic injury to the spinal cord, the road to recovery is long and uncertain. In minutes, their lives have been irreversibly altered. Time will tell if the paralysis to the limbs is permanent or if some degree of mobility or sensation can be reacquired. To many patients, the first weeks feel almost unreal. They find themselves in a state of shock, and feelings of uncertainty and loss of control are dominating. Spinal cord injuries are treated in multiple specialized hospital units. Each unit is accountable for providing the best possible treatment within their area of expertise. While continuity in care has been a hot research topic for the past 20 years, few studies provide empirical data on patients' perspectives on long-term hospital treatments. This study examines how patients with tetraplegia experience continuity in care when they journey across multiple hospital units over the course of several months. This paper is based on a study of patient pathways for patients with tetraplegia caused by high spinal cord injuries. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with nine patients, seven next of kin and thirteen healthcare professionals in Copenhagen University Hospital. Data from the interviews were analyzed using patient journey mapping, to uncover variations in patients' experience during various stages of their admission. The study finds that patients are struggling to maintain a sense of control over their life as they continuously engage in negotiations of perceptions of their body, of the physical surroundings and of their perception of time and the future. With the exponential growth of new technology, it is timely that social psychologists continue to develop new and effective solutions to old but existing problems, including prejudice. One such solution is virtual reality (VR). This critical review examines VR as a promising new media tool to reduce prejudice and improve intergroup relations. Unlike traditional prejudice reduction strategies, VR provides researchers with a high degree of experimental control and flexibility. However, VR prejudice reduction research is in its infancy, and a myriad of challenges have emerged, including the: i) difficulty of cross-study comparisons and navigation of existing literature due to lack of standardized VR methodologies; ii) limitations of adapting traditional prejudice reduction strategies into VR; and iii) the lack of measurement of behaviors. This paper critically evaluates each of these limitations and, in doing so, proposes a new working framework incorporating two dimensions, the: i) VR input device, and ii) level of interactivity and mobility in the VR environment. The Fractional Nonlinear Schrödinger Model (FNLSM) with Kerr law nonlinearity, a popular model for simulating a variety of physical events, is the subject of this study. Our research has two main goals. First, we want to identify novel soliton solutions for the FNLSM with Kerr law nonlinearity, including bright, single, exponential, periodic, hyperbolic, dark and combinations thereof. We use a modified Sardar sub-equation technique to achieve these solutions, which have not yet been published. Secondly, demonstrate that the model is stable and sensitive, examine its modulation instability and sensitivity analysis. To validate the physical relevance of our results, we present 2D, 3D and contour plots with appropriate parameter values. Our results indicate that this research's methodology is effective computationally faster and provides comprehensive and standard solutions. In engineering, computational physics and fiber optics, it can be helpful in resolving more complicated occurrences. By offering novel approaches to currently studied features of FNLSM, this paper advances computational physics. The results that have been presented illustrate the potential for our method to fundamentally alter how FNLSM is understood and modeled. In this dynamic field, we believe that our research offers novel opportunities for investigation and advancement. • Increased collaboration between the social services and psychiatric care is needed for young people in out-of-home care. • Out-of-home care - more containment than support to undergo change. • Experiences of liminality induce hopes and fears. • Lack of influence of the placement's duration and content. The objective of this paper is to further the understanding of young people's experiences of out-of-home care (OHC). The focus will be on the tension between negative and positive experiences of OHC, refracted through the concept of liminality. The study is based on semi-structured interviews with 10 young people aged 15–22 (7 women, 3 men) with long-term contact with social services and psychiatric care. OHC can be experienced as a liminal space in both a negative and a positive sense. It is negative when perceived as containment rather than meaningful treatment. It can also be a negative experience when connected to fear, a lack of influence, and uncertainty in terms of being in between the social services and psychiatric care. It is positive when it is perceived as a turning point that enables positive change. It is then connected to feelings of meaningfulness, being respected, hope, and empowerment. The young people participating in the study also connect their experiences of OHC to a context of greater austerity in the welfare state. They reflect upon the benfits of OHC in terms of costs for society, but also the costs for the young person if the OHC is not perceived as meaningful support leading towards positive change. The participants have complex, interrelated needs and problems, and they also experience institutional gaps between psychiatric care and social services. This paper explores the impact of school food policy from the perspective of school food workers to offer an alternative account of why school food may not be having the desired impact on child health or food choices. Drawing upon the findings from an institutional ethnography carried out in three UK primary schools, we argue that school food is being asked to perform an unrealistic task of luring children and families away from more unhealthy food options, without being given adequate resources or powers to do this job effectively. We theorise that the narrative depicting school food as a hero, combatting the harms of poor dietary choices and poor health outcomes, is inappropriate as a countermeasure to mitigate the effects of wider food industry forces. We revisit the narrative to consider the power imbalances within society that structure dietary choices, presenting our findings and the wider policy review in the form of a story about the evolution of school food set against a shifting food environment. We conclude with recommendations for policy makers who want to see school food have a greater impact in improving child health. • We report on an Institutional Ethnography of 3 UK schools to explore the issue of low meal uptake. • Semi-structured interviews with food workers, observations, and text analysis were used. • A significant barrier to meal uptake was an unfamiliarity with the healthy food offered in schools. • We discuss the evolution of the UK school meal service alongside changes in the wider food system. • We propose policy changes that would strengthen the protected food space offered by schools. In this paper we direct attention to unavoidable conflicts between disparate value systems co-existing within organizations. Drawing on John Law's concept of ordering and Boltanski and Thévenot's orders of worth , we understand incompatibilities inherent in implementation and governance as competing orders. In extracting and articulating competing orders from our abductive analysis of semi-structured interviews with primary care managers (n = 32) in a Swedish county council, we hope to enable actors to utilise and address them as they engage in implementation work. The potential of such an approach is exemplified by analysing a regional case of health promotion implementation pursued in 2019, in a Swedish county council. Early approaches to implementation and governance have entailed linear models emphasizing program fidelity. Critics have broadened this view by calling for optimization of multiple values and more room for professional judgment. We seek to add to this development by attending to how healthcare practices often entail different and at times conflicting configurations of patients, professionals and priorities. The county council in our case study attempted to steer primary care providers towards health promotion work. To capture the realities of the organization that primary care managers described, we propose that three competing orders can be discerned in primary care: the order of immediate care, focusing on professional judgments of the most pressing needs of patients; the order of accessible care, in which patients themselves define what needs should be cared for; and the order of future health emphasizing prevention of health in the future population. Each order enacts a specific prioritization between patients and a vision of what is or should be primary in primary care. There is limited provision of inpatient detoxification relative to other treatments for alcohol and other drug (AOD) use. This means people often need to wait prior to detoxifying. However, waiting for healthcare is generally perceived as negative and stressful. This paper aims to understand patients' experiences of waiting for inpatient AOD detoxification to ascertain whether and how service-level policies and practices might be improved. Semi-structured telephone interviews were conducted with 32 people (20 males, 12 females; aged 25–67 years) who were waiting for inpatient detoxification. Data collection was part of a wider evaluation of a policy initiative started in 2021 to increase detoxification service capacity in England, UK. Interviews were professionally transcribed and data on waiting experiences were coded using qualitative software. Analyses were informed by new materialist thinking and undertaken via Iterative Categorisation. We found that waiting was constituted through five dimensions: i. duration; ii. support; iii. information; iv. preparations; and v. emotions. These five dimensions were multi-faceted and operated in and through wider interacting social, material, and affective forces (e.g., professional judgements, formal and informal relationships, the availability of beds and funding, bureaucratic procedures, the utility and relevance of information, and participants' diverse feelings, including desperation for treatment). Not all accounts of waiting were negative. The experience was complex, non-uniform and variable over time. Moreover, it affected how people felt and how they behaved. Changes to service-level policies and practices can potentially minimise the stress of waiting for inpatient AOD detoxification. The negative impact of waiting may be reduced if professionals more consistently engage patients in a wider range of constructive pre-treatment activities, offer regular 'check-ins' to mitigate any anxiety, explain changes in wait duration to help with planning and demonstrate fairness, and facilitate contact between those waiting to lessen feelings of isolation. The purpose of this paper was to explore: (a) What stories do the Street Soccer players draw upon to construct meaning around their experiences of trauma, social exclusion, and homelessness? and (b) What stories are linked to the subjective sport programming experience and resulting future orientations? A longitudinal narrative approach was adopted with semi-structured interviews conducted with players from Scotland and the United States (n = 16, 7 female, 9 male, M age = 27.5) across three time points. Interviews were also conducted with significant others (n = 13) at time point three. All data were analyzed using thematic narrative analysis and represented in creative non-fiction approaches through three composite narratives. These narratives depicted visceral accounts of complex and developmental trauma, along with consequential experiences that unfolded before, during, and after the Homeless World Cup. While both preparing for and attending the event, players recalled concurrent feelings of anxiety and pride which manifested in various resilient and maladaptive coping behaviors. As the stories progressed, players battled a post event crash by engaging in support seeking and/or self-destructive behaviors before positive implications of the Homeless World Cup materialized. Through creative narrative approaches, this study presents novel and engaging accounts of players' experiences before, during, and after the event. The literature on professional socialization focuses on how students adopt and internalize professional identities and values, and assumes that boundary work is essential to learning how best to practice their profession. However, a focus on boundary work in the context of midwifery training - which is embedded in the gendered and hierarchical landscape of maternity care - is lacking. Thus, this article examines how Canadian student-midwives learn to navigate and negotiate interprofessional boundaries. Grounded in a symbolic interactionist approach, it draws on 31 semi-structured qualitative interviews from a mixed-methods national study on midwifery retention, explores how midwifery students make sense of the tensions among midwives, physicians, and nurses, and describes what strategies they utilize when navigating boundaries. Our analysis, based in constructivist grounded theory, revealed that participants learned about interprofessional tensions in clinical placement encounters via direct or indirect interactions with other healthcare professionals, and that strategies to navigate these tensions included educating others about midwifery training and adopting a learner identity. This article proposes that the process of professional socialization enables to reshape professional boundaries and that students are not only learners but also agents of change. Transgender and gender expansive (trans) people face high rates of violence, including unique forms of abuse from intimate partners that specifically leverage transphobia. Past qualitative studies have explored trans-specific intimate partner violence (IPV) and transgender IPV; we propose a new term, transphobia-driven IPV, investigated in this paper. The goals of this study were two-fold: (1) to qualitatively identify the subdomains and boundaries of transphobia-driven IPV with the explicit intention of new scale development; and (2) to examine the degree to which existing trans-focused IPV measurement scales adequately assess the construct. We recruited US-based, English-speaking trans survivors of IPV, aged 18 years and older, online through community-based organizations and Facebook/Instagram advertising. Twenty people participated in the study, of which 60 percent were white, 55 percent were assigned female at birth, and 60 percent were nonbinary. Through thematic analysis of the 20 in-depth interviews, we identified four subdomains of transphobia-driven IPV: pressure to perform , disrupting gender affirmation , belittling gender identity , and intentional misgendering. When examining nine existing screening tools and measures that ask about IPV related to the survivor's trans identity, only one measure included questions related to all four subdomains. Further, the existing measures were either not psychometrically validated, only validated with a subpopulation of the trans community, or validated with a larger LGBTQ sample of which trans survivors comprised a small percentage. This study lays a foundation for new valid measures of transphobia-driven IPV that reflect the various ways in which transphobia can be leveraged by abusers and may be relevant across subpopulations of the trans community. • Transphobia-driven IPV covers how transphobia is used by perpetrators. • Pressure to perform and disrupting gender affirmation are forms of coercive control. • Belittling gender identity and intentional misgendering are forms of emotional abuse. • Only one of nine relevant published measures captures all four subdomains. • New measures must be expanded and validated with diverse trans samples.
