Degenerate semiconductors usually demonstrate a metallic‐like conduction behavior, showing limited carrier mobility at high temperatures. Herein, by incorporating B4C nanoparticles into the Cu1.99Se system, an unusual switch from the "degenerate" to "non‐degenerate" semiconducting behavior is revealed as a result of the engineered interfaces. Heterogeneous interfaces and disordered Cu2Se amorphous phases are introduced in the Cu1.99Se/B4C composites, which generate a trapping effect against the mobile Cu ions, leading to a distinctive "hump" signature for electrical conductivity. Benefiting from this rare high‐temperature thermoelectric response, a high power factor is obtained due to reduced carrier concentration and enhanced mobility, and low lattice thermal conductivity is retained because of relatively stronger anharmonic lattice vibrations. Consequently, the Cu1.99Se + 0.9 vol.% B4C sample at least achieves a maximum thermoelectric figure of merit (ZT) of 2.6 at 1025 K with synergistically enhanced mechanical robustness. In this paper, we propose and study a discretized one‐predator two‐prey system along with prey refuge and Michaelis–Menten‐type prey harvesting. The interaction among the species is considered as Holling type III functional response. Firstly, existence and local stability of all the fixed points are derived under certain parametric conditions. Furthermore, a special consideration is made to global asymptotic stability of the interior fixed point. Then, we have shown that the system undergoes different types of bifurcations including transcritical bifurcation, flip bifurcation, and Neimark–Sacker bifurcation by using center manifold theorem, bifurcation theory, and normal form method. Also, Feigenbaum's constant of the system is calculated. It is observed that both harvesting and refuge have a stabilizing effect on the system, and the stabilizing effect of harvesting dominates the stabilizing effect of refuge. Of most interest is the finding of coexisting attractors and multistability. In particular, optimal harvesting policy has been obtained by extension of Pontryagin's maximum principle to discrete system. Aim Materials and Methods Results Conclusions To assess the global and regional burden of hip fractures associated with type 1 diabetes (T1D) from 1990 to 2021.The population attributable fraction was calculated by combining the published risk ratio with T1D prevalence (age ≥ 20 years) from the Global Burden of Disease study to estimate the T1D‐associated hip‐fracture burden. Trends were assessed using the age‐standardized incidence rate (ASIR) and estimated annual percentage change (EAPC).The global incidence of T1D‐related hip fractures was 290 180 in 2021 with an ASIR of 3.96 (95% confidence interval: 1.92‐5.87) per 100 000 population and a male‐to‐female ratio of 0.54. At the super‐regional level, the highest incidence (204 610) and ASIR (13.09 per 100 000 population; 6.40‐25.53) were observed in high‐income regions, in particular in Australasia and Western Europe. Notably, Australasia exhibited the highest EAPC, 2.90% in T1D‐associated ASIR, followed by East Asia (2.73%). The incidence among those aged 45‐64 years grew significantly in 14 regions over the past decade. Nationally, the ASIR increased in 166 countries from 1990 to 2021.High‐income regions experienced the greatest burden of T1D‐associated hip fracture, while Australasia and East Asia witnessed the largest increase over the last 32 years. ABSTRACT Objectives Materials and Methods Results Conclusion Dental pulp stem cells (DPSCs) have been extensively used for tissue regeneration owing to their notable capabilities. Insulin‐like growth factor‐binding protein 5 (IGFBP5) regulates osteogenic differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs); however, the underlying regulatory mechanisms require further investigation.Carboxyfluorescein succinimidyl ester, an alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity assay and Alizarin Red staining were used to reveal the role of IGFBP5 in DPSCs. Protein expression levels were determined using western blotting. Immunofluorescence was used to observe cell sub‐localisation. Subcutaneous transplantation in nude mice was used to observe the osteogenesis of DPSCs in vivo.IGFBP5 enhanced the proliferation and osteogenic differentiation of DPSCs. Deletion of the nuclear localisation sequence (NLS) of IGFBP5 prevented its nuclear import and abolished all its promoting effects on DPSCs; ivermectin stimulation attenuated the enhancement of ALP activity by IGBFP5. Bone‐like tissue formation promoted by IGFBP5 in vivo vanishes when the NLS is deleted. Inhibition of IGFBP5 nuclear import attenuated the IGFBP5‐induced phosphorylation of JNK (p‐JNK) and phosphorylated ERK (p‐ERK) in DPSCs.Our findings suggest that cell proliferation and osteogenic differentiation effects exerted by IGFBP5 on DPSCs are closely associated with their entry into the nucleus, thereby providing a novel potential target for tissue regeneration. This study provides an exhaustive exploration of the thermal expansion of low‐temperature argon bubbles in high‐temperature molten steel and the resulting dynamic effects. The energy equation of compressible fluid simultaneously with the volume of fluid model under the Euler framework is solved. The generation and rising behavior of bubbles are validated through rigorous physical water model experiments. Findings reveal that, within a heating time of 0.2–0.45 ms, gas bubbles already complete 65–90% of their internal energy increase. The total heat transfer time and heat transfer coefficient of bubbles exhibit distinctive patterns influenced by the initial diameter and temperature of the bubbles. Specifically, under the conditions studied, bubbles exhibit a total heat transfer time of ≈20–60 ms, accompanied by a heat transfer coefficient ranging from 500 to 2600 W (m2 * K)−1. During the thermal expansion process, gas bubbles experience energy transfer and conversion within the two‐phase flow. This article establishes a dynamic model describing bubble thermal expansion in steel melts based on underwater bubble dynamics’ first principles. This letter to the editor discusses a study that identified a new genetic variant in the TNFRSF13B gene in a family with lymphoid neoplasms. The TNFRSF13B gene is linked to immunodeficiency and an increased risk of certain cancers. The study provides clinical details of two patients with lymphoid malignancies and identifies other genetic variants related to hematologic malignancies. The findings suggest a possible genetic predisposition to tumors in this family. The emissions from South Asia and Southeast Asia significantly impact air quality and meteorological conditions in China. However, the individual or joint contributions of anthropogenic emissions and/or biomass burning from outside China to surface particulate matter with aerodynamic diameters less than 2.5 μm (PM2.5) and aerosol optical depth (AOD) over southern China have not been fully investigated. Here, five experiments were designed to investigate the impacts of these emissions in January (winter), March (pre‐monsoon), and October (post‐monsoon) for 2017. Aerosols from South Asia and Southeast Asia contributed less to southern China during winter and post‐monsoon seasons, whereas the wind patterns and emission intensity during the pre‐monsoon season were conducive to the transport of aerosols. During pre‐monsoon season, the total emissions contributed approximately 5.0 μg m−3 to surface PM2.5 in Xizang Province. Biomass burning in Southeast Asia increased PM2.5 in Yunnan Province by 37.9 μg m−3, while anthropogenic emissions increased it by 8.9 μg m−3. Transboundary aerosols can be transported to Xizang Province and Yunnan Province, primarily influencing PM2.5 below 2 km height. It mainly affected PM2.5 levels above the planetary boundary layer over southeast China. Aerosols from outside China can account for 79.5% and 54.8% AOD in Yunnan Province and southeast China, respectively. These aerosols reduced surface incident solar radiation by approximately 6%, leading to decreases in air temperature, wind speed, and boundary layer height. In this study, we concentrate on the seismic signature of subducted sediments and suggest the formation of the L‐discontinuity beneath the ancient craton related to migrated sediment dehydration. We first determined the single‐crystal elasticity of topaz, the product of sediment dehydration, at high pressures and temperatures by Brillouin scattering. Using the derived elastic parameters, we establish the velocity and density profiles of subducted sediments in the upper mantle. According to our modeling results, 8.5–17.5 vol.% sediments intruding into the upper mantle will induce a 2%–4% low‐VS anomaly at 210–260 km. Meanwhile, continuous heating will lead to the dehydration of phengite in sediments. The dehydration of this amount sediments can generate a 3%–6% ISS with negative Clapeyron slopes, satisfying the observed L‐discontinuity in northern Finland and northern America without the anisotropy changes but accompanied by low‐velocity anomalies. Our study thus provides new insights into the origin of the L‐discontinuity. Our modeling results indicated that ∼17.5 vol.% sediments intruding into the upper mantle would lead to ∼4% low‐VS anomalies at 210–260 km. After the continuous heating, these intruding sediments would dehydrate by the reaction with the negative Clapeyron slopes, thus producing significant ISS. Therefore, the migration and dehydration of the subducted sediments can reasonably interpret the seismic characteristics of the L‐discontinuity beneath the cratonic regions such as northern Finland and northern America. Summary: Ultraviolet (UV) radiation influences development and genome stability in organisms; however, its impact on meiosis, a special cell division essential for the delivery of genetic information across generations in eukaryotes, has not yet been elucidated.In this study, by performing cytogenetic studies, we reported that UV radiation does not damage meiotic chromosome integrity but attenuates centromere‐mediated chromosome stability and induces unreduced gametes in Arabidopsis thaliana.We showed that functional centromere‐specific histone 3 (CENH3) is required for obligate crossover formation and plays a role in the protection of sister chromatid cohesion under UV stress. Moreover, we found that UV specifically alters the orientation and organization of spindles and phragmoplasts at meiosis II, resulting in meiotic restitution and unreduced gametes. Comprehensive Summary: Hyperlanins A (1) and B (2), two highly rearranged polycyclic polyprenylated acylphloroglucinol (PPAP)‐related meroterpenoids based on different new carbon skeletons, were isolated from Hypericum lancasteri. Compound 1 incorporates an unprecedented 5/6/7/5 ring system featuring a 3,13‐dioxatetracyclo[9.2.1.12,5.01,8]pentadecane core. Compound 2 possesses a unique compact 6/6/5/6/6/5/6 ring system with a caged tetracyclo[6.2.1.13,8.05,11]dodecane motif. Their structures were established by spectroscopic data, X‐ray diffraction, and computational approaches. Both compounds showed anti‐inflammatory activity in vitro. Compounds 1 and 2 could decrease the lipopolysaccharide (LPS)‐/nigericin‐induced IL‐1β release in THP‐1 cells. Objectives Methods Results Conclusion Although the incidence of isolated gastric varices type 1 (IGV1) bleeding is low, the condition is highly dangerous and associated with high mortality, making its treatment challenging. We aimed to compare the safety and efficacy of endoscopic clipping combined with cyanoacrylate injection (EC‐CYA) vs. transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) in treating IGV1.In a single‐center, randomized controlled trial, patients with IGV1 bleeding were randomly assigned to the EC‐CYA group or TIPS group. The primary end‐points were gastric variceal rebleeding rates and technical success. Secondary end‐points included cumulative nonbleeding rates, mortality, and complications.A total of 156 patients between January 2019 and April 2023 were selected and randomly assigned to the EC‐CYA group (n = 76) and TIPS group (n = 80). The technical success rate was 100% for both groups. The rebleeding rates were 14.5% in the EC‐CYA group and 8.8% in the TIPS group, showing no significant difference (P = 0.263). Kaplan–Meier analysis revealed that the cumulative nonbleeding rates at 6, 12, 24, and 36 months for the two groups lacked statistical significance (P = 0.344). Similarly, cumulative survival rates at 12, 24, and 36 months for the two groups were not statistically significant (P = 0.916). The bleeding rates from other causes were 13.2% and 6.3% for the respective groups, showing no significant difference (P = 0.144). No instances of ectopic embolism were observed in either group. The incidence of hepatic encephalopathy (HE) in the TIPS group was statistically higher than that in the EC‐CYA group (P = 0.001).Both groups are effective in controlling IGV1 bleeding. In order to optimize the heating schedule before forging and improve the breaking and deformation effects of carbides in high‐speed steel, it is of great significance to study the transformation of M2C carbides at high temperatures. The evolution of carbides in the industrial‐grade American Iron and Steel Institute M35 steel produced by electroslag remelting (ESR) is analyzed and observed using thermodynamic calculations and experimental methods. The results indicate that the carbides in the ESR ingot are mainly MC and M2C, and the microstructures of M2C carbides with the highest volume fraction are lamellar and brain like. As the heating temperature increases and holding time prolongs, the lamellar M2C carbides gradually transform into MC and M6C carbides, accompanied by protrusion, dissolution, separation, and spheroidization of the microstructure, until significant coarsening occurs at 1180 °C for 90 min. The newly transformed carbides are embedded and stacked with each other, occupying the original position of M2C carbides. Based on the theories of Gibbs free energy and atomic diffusion, the evolution mechanism of M2C carbides is discussed. Vanadium‐based compounds are fantastic cathodes for aqueous zinc metal batteries due to the high specific capacity and excellent rate capability. Nevertheless, the practical application has been hampered by the dissolution of vanadium in traditional aqueous electrolytes owing to the strong polarity of water molecules. Herein, we propose a hybrid electrolyte made of Zn(ClO4)2 salt in tetraethylene glycol dimethyl ether (G4) and H2O solvents to upgrade the cycle life of Zn//K0.486V2O5 battery. The G4 jointly solvates with Zn2+ ions and replaces a portion of the H2O molecules in the Zn2+ solvation sheath. It forms a strong bond with H2O, reducing its activity, and significantly inhibiting vanadium dissolution and water‐induced parasitic reaction. Consequently, the optimized electrolyte with H2O and G4 volume ratio of 5 : 5 enhances the cycling stability of Zn//K0.486V2O5 battery, enabling it to reach up to 600 cycles. In addition, the battery demonstrates a satisfactory reversible capacity of 475.7 mAh g−1 and excellent rate performance attributed to the moderate ionic conductivity (28.8 mS cm−1) of the hybrid electrolyte. Last but not least, in the optimized electrolyte, the symmetric Zn//Zn cells deliver a long cycling performance of 400 h, while the asymmetric Zn//Cu cells shows a high average coulombic efficiency of 97.4 %. Reconstruction‐engineered electrocatalysts with enriched high active Ni species for urea oxidation reaction (UOR) have recently become promising candidates for energy conversion. However, to inhibit the over‐oxidation of urea brought by the high valence state of Ni, tremendous efforts are devoted to obtaining low‐value products of nitrogen gas to avoid toxic nitrite formation, undesirably causing inefficient utilization of the nitrogen cycle. Herein, we proposed a mediation engineering strategy to significantly boost high‐value nitrite formation to help close a loop for the employment of a nitrogen economy. Specifically, platinum‐loaded nickel phosphides (Pt‐Ni2P) catalysts exhibit a promising nitrite production rate (0.82 mol kWh−1 cm−2), high stability over 66 h of Zn‐urea‐air battery operation, and 135 h of co‐production of nitrite and hydrogen under 200 mA cm−2 in a zero‐gap membrane electrode assembly (MEA) system. The in situ spectroscopic characterizations and computational calculations demonstrated that the urea oxidation kinetics is facilitated by enriched dynamic Ni3+ active sites, thus augmenting the "cyanate" UOR pathway. Background: This study aimed to evaluate the incidence of implant failure in patients with oral lichen planus (OLP) and investigate the potential association between OLP and peri‐implant diseases. Materials and Methods: Embase, Web of Science, PubMed, and Scopus databases were searched for studies with no time restrictions. Meta‐analysis was performed calculating pooled proportion of peri‐implantitis (PI), peri‐implant mucositis (PIM), and bleeding on probing (BOP) prevalence using fixed‐effects model. Odds ratio and corresponding 95% CI were calculated to assess the potential risk of PI, PIM, and BOP in dental implant patients with OLP compared to healthy controls. Results: Implant failure rate was 4.38% at the patient level and 4.37% at the implant level. Six patients (3.92%) from five studies were diagnosed with oral cancer after receiving implant. The prevalence of PI, PIM, and BOP at the implant level were 14.00%, 20.00%, and 40.00%, respectively. There was no significant difference in the occurrence of PI and PIM between OLP patients and healthy controls. Conclusions: Stabilized OLP is not considered a significant risk factor for peri‐implant diseases. It is advised against placing implants or prostheses during the acute phase of the disease. A study published in the journal Diabetes, Obesity & Metabolism found that children born to mothers with gestational diabetes have an increased risk of being overweight as they grow up. The study also found that intensive treatment of gestational diabetes during pregnancy improved outcomes for both mother and baby, but did not reduce the risk of childhood obesity. The researchers suggest that prevention and intensive management of gestational diabetes are important in reducing the risk of childhood obesity. They also recommend that children from gestational diabetes pregnancies adopt a healthy lifestyle from an early age to reduce the risk of future health problems. Further research is needed to better understand these relationships and develop effective health management strategies for women with gestational diabetes and their children. Background: In patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) and multivessel disease (MVD), complete revascularization (CR) improves prognosis. This meta‐analysis, summarizing recent RCTs, contrasts short‐term and long‐term clinical outcomes between immediate complete revascularization (ICR) and staged complete revascularization (SCR). Methods: We systematically searched the online database and eight RCTs were involved. The primary outcomes included long‐term unplanned ischemia‐driven revascularization, re‐infarction, combined cardiovascular (CV) death or myocardial infarction (MI), all‐cause death, CV death, stroke, and hospitalization for heart failure (HHF). The secondary outcomes were 1‐month unplanned ischemia‐driven revascularization, re‐infarction, all‐cause death, and CV death. Safety endpoints included stent thrombosis and major bleeding. Results: Eight RCTs comprising 5198 patients were involved. ICR reduced long‐term unplanned ischemia‐driven revascularization (RR 0.64, 95% CI 0.51–0.81, p < 0.001), combined CV death or MI (HR 0.51, 95% CI 0.34–0.78, p = 0.002), and re‐infarction (RR 0.66,95% CI 0.48 to 0.91, p = 0.012) compared with SCR. ICR also decreased 1‐month unplanned ischemia‐driven revascularization (RR 0.41, 95% CI: 0.21–0.77, p = 0.006) and re‐infarction (RR 0.33, 95% CI:0.15–0.74, p = 0.007) but increased 1‐month all‐cause death (RR 2.22, 95% CI 1.06–4.65, p = 0.034). Conclusion: In ACS patients with MVD, we first found that ICR significantly lowered the risk of both short‐term and long‐term unplanned ischemia‐driven revascularization and re‐infarction, as well as the long‐term composite outcome of CV death or MI compared with SCR. Non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients infected with COVID‐19 experience much worse prognosis. However, the specific mechanisms behind this phenomenon remain unclear. We conducted a multicentre study, collecting surgical tissue samples from a total of 36 NSCLC patients across three centres to analyse. Among the 36 lung cancer patients, 9 were infected with COVID‐19. COVID‐19 infection (HR = 21.62 [1.58, 296.06], p = 0.021) was an independent risk factor of progression‐free survival (PFS). Analysis of RNA‐seq data of these cancer tissues demonstrated significantly higher expression levels of cuproptosis‐associated genes in COVID‐19‐infected lung cancer patients. Using Lasso regression and Cox regression analysis, we identified 12 long noncoding RNAs (lncRNA) regulating cuproptosis. A score based on these lncRNA were used to divide patients into high‐risk and low‐risk groups. The results showed that the high‐risk group had lower overall survival and PFS compared to the low‐risk group. Furthermore, Tumor Immune Dysfunction and Exclusion (TIDE) database revealed that the high‐risk group benefited more from immunotherapy. Drug sensitivity analysis identified cetuximab and gefitinib as potentially effective treatments for the high‐risk group. Cuproptosis plays a significant role NSCLC patients infected with COVID‐19. This study proposes a novel velocity divergence‐generalized adaptive probability density evolution method (VD‐GAPDEM) for calculating the probability density function of the stochastic response process of stochastic structures under stochastic dynamic loads. First, based on the principle of probability conservation, the velocity divergence‐generalized adaptive probability density evolution equation (VD‐GAPDEE) is derived for a stochastic system that can effectively consider the shape and location changes of the joint transitional probability density of representative points (RPs) in the stochastic response process. Second, a novel VD‐GAPDEM is proposed to solve the VD‐GAPDEE directly using the point selection technique based on the generalized F discrepancy and the second‐order Runge–Kutta method with a smoothing kernel method (Runge–Kutta‐SKFAM). Furthermore, the differences and connections between VD‐GAPDEM and the existing probability density evolution method are analyzed. Additionally, the high computational efficiency and accuracy of the proposed VD‐GAPDEM are demonstrated through three typical examples of stochastic response analysis, involving stochastic systems subjected to stochastic dynamic loads. Here, we found that trehalose was significantly accumulated in A. marina under salt treatment. Furthermore, exogenous trehalose can enhance salt tolerance by promoting the Na+ efflux from leaf salt gland and root to reduce the Na+ content in root and leaf. Subsequently, eighteen trehalose‐6‐phosphate synthase (AmTPS) and 11 trehalose‐6‐phosphate phosphatase (AmTPP) genes were identified from A. marina genome. Abscisic acid (ABA) responsive elements were predicted in AmTPS and AmTPP promoters by cis‐acting elements analysis. We further identified AmTPS9A, as an important positive regulator, that increased the salt tolerance of AmTPS9A‐overexpressing Arabidopsis thaliana by altering the expressions of ion transport genes and mediating Na+ efflux from the roots of transgenic A. thaliana under NaCl treatments. In addition, we also found that ABA could promote the accumulation of trehalose, and the application of exogenous trehalose significantly promoted the biosynthesis of ABA in both roots and leaves of A. marina. Ultimately, we confirmed that AmABF2 directly binds to the AmTPS9A promoter in vitro and in vivo. Taken together, we speculated that there was a positive feedback loop between trehalose and ABA in regulating the salt tolerance of A. marina. These findings provide new understanding to the salt tolerance of A. marina in adapting to high saline environment at trehalose and ABA aspects. Background: Conventional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has certain limitations in distinguishing between malignant and benign urinary bladder (UB) lesions. Amide proton transfer (APT) imaging may provide more diagnostic information than diffusion‐weighted imaging (DWI) to distinguish between malignant and benign UB. Purpose: To investigate the potential of APT imaging in the diagnosis of malignant and benign UB lesions and to compare its diagnostic efficacy with that of conventional DWI. Study Type: Prospective. Subjects: Eighty patients with UB lesions. Field Strength/Sequence: A 3.0 T/turbo spin echo (TSE) T1‐weighted and T2‐weighted imaging, single‐shot echo planar DWI, and three‐dimensional TSE APT imaging. Assessment: Patients underwent radical cystectomy or transurethral resection of the bladder lesions within 2 weeks after CT urography and MRI examination. APT signal intensity in UB lesions was quantified by the asymmetric magnetization transfer ratio (MTRasym). MTRasym and apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) values were measured and compared between malignant and benign UB lesions. Statistical Tests: Kolmogorov–Smirnov test, Student's t test or Mann–Whitney U test, Spearman rank correlation coefficient, area under the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve (AUC), Delong test, and intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC). The significance threshold was set at P < 0.05. Results: Thirty‐two patients had pathologically confirmed benign UB lesions, including 2 bladder leiomyomas, 1 submucosal amyloidosis, 1 inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor, and 28 inflammatory lesions, and 48 patients had pathologically confirmed urothelial carcinoma. Urothelial carcinomas showed significantly higher MTRasym values (1.53% [0.74%] vs. 0.85% [0.23%]) and significantly lower ADC values (1.24 ± 0.34 × 10−3 mm2/s vs. 1.43 ± 0.22 × 10−3 mm2/s) than benign UB lesions. The MTRasym value (AUC = 0.928) was significantly better in differentiating urothelial carcinoma from benign UB lesions than the ADC value (AUC = 0.722). Objective: The limited understanding of the molecular mechanism for oral submucosal fibrosis (OSF) poses challenges to the development of effective prevention and treatment strategies. The lack of suitable animal models is a major hindrance. Therefore, this study aimed to address this issue by comparing commonly used arecoline‐induced water drinking and injection mouse models. Materials and Methods: The mice were subjected to two protocols: receiving 2 mg/mL arecoline in drinking water and 4 mg/mL arecoline saline solution injections every other day. Tissues were collected at regular 4‐week intervals, with a final time point of 20 weeks. Stereo microscopy and histomorphological analysis were performed on live and harvested tissues, respectively. Results: During arecoline treatment, collagen deposition and myofibroblast proliferation progressively increased in both models. Changes in the collagen I/III ratio indicated that both models exhibited characteristics of the early and intermediate stages of OSF after 20 weeks of arecoline induction. The water‐drinking model also demonstrated multi‐organ fibrosis involving the tongue, lungs, and small intestine. Conclusion: Both the water drinking and injection mouse models effectively induced OSF, but the water‐drinking model better mirrored the observed pathogenesis in patients with OSF. The article "Molecular phylogeography of Hipposideros pratti in China" discusses the genetic diversity and population dynamics of the bat species Hipposideros pratti in China. The study found that H. pratti has low genetic diversity and is divided into two clades, the central-western clade and the eastern clade. The research did not detect a clear east-to-west dispersal route, and the eastern clade spread outward from one population to another while the central-western clade spread gradually. Background: Equine joint disease including septic arthritis (SA) and osteoarthritis (OA) is a critical cause of equine lameness. Platelet‐rich plasma (PRP) is one of the most popular regenerative therapies to treat equine OA, even SA, but the evidence in support of the treatment is conflicting. Objectives: The aim of the study was to systematically review the current evidence on PRP products used for SA and OA, as well as the efficacy of PRP products as treatment for OA on the basis of a meta‐analysis of the available literature. Study design: Systematic review and meta‐analysis. Methods: A systematic search of relevant databases (PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus) was performed to identify studies published from 2013 to 2023, in accordance with the PRISMA guidelines. Randomised controlled trials, non‐randomised trials and controlled laboratory studies that used at least one type of PRP products were included. Dichotomous outcomes were presented using odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (95% CIs). Results: A total of 21 publications were identified in the systematic review and 5 of them in the meta‐analysis. These publications involved various types of PRP products and reported different outcomes. Although most of the studies were associated with a high risk of bias, the overall estimated effect was consistent with a significant improvement in the PRP products treatment group compared with the control group (OR: 15.32; 95% CI: 3.00–78.15; p < 0.05). There was a significant improvement in clinical performance outcomes between the groups (OR: 36.64; 95% CI: 3.69–364.30; p < 0.05). Conclusion: PRP products as intra‐articular treatment are likely efficacious for treatment of equine OA and have potential for treating SA. These conclusions might be affected by the limited number of randomised controlled studies and high variability of different types of PRP products. To better evaluate the efficacy of PRP, a widely recognised classification system and the utilisation of randomised, blinded, equivalency or non‐inferiority trials are required. Machine learning as a data‐driven solution has been widely applied in the field of fatigue lifetime prediction. In this paper, three models for wideband fatigue life prediction are built based on three machine learning models, that is, support vector regression (SVR), Gaussian process regression (GPR), and artificial neural network (ANN). All the three prediction models use the parameter b of the well‐known Tovo–Benasciutti (TB) model as their outputs to realize fatigue life prediction and their generalization abilities are enhanced by employing numerous power spectrum samples with different bandwidth parameters and a variety of material properties related to fatigue life. Sufficient Monte Carlo numerical simulations demonstrate that the newly developed machine learning models are superior to the traditional frequency‐domain models in terms of life prediction accuracy and the ANN model has the best overall performance among the three developed machine learning models. Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine the causal effect of statins on osteoarthritis (OA) risk using Mendelian randomization (MR). Methods: Single nucleotide polymorphism–based genome‐wide association analyses of statins were collected from the UK Biobank and FinnGen dataset, and OA data were collected from the UK Biobank and Arthritis Research UK Osteoarthritis Genetics (arcOGEN) study. Two‐sample MR analyses were performed using the inverse‐variance weighted (IVW) technique. MR‐Egger, weighted median, and weighted mode served as supplementary analyses. MR‐Egger regression, Cochran's Q test, and Mendelian Randomization Pleiotropy Residual Sum and Outlier analysis were performed as sensitivity analyses. Hydroxymethylglutaryl‐coenzyme A reductase (HMGCR) expression and OA risk were evaluated using summary data–based MR (SMR). Results: MR analyses consistently supported a causal connection between statin use and OA risk. A causal effect was observed for atorvastatin (IVW: β = −2.989, P = 0.003) and rosuvastatin (IVW: β = −14.141, P = 0.006) treatment on hip OA. Meta‐analysis showed the association between atorvastatin and knee OA was statistically significant (odds ratio 0.15; P = 0.004). Simvastatin use exhibited a protective effect against knee (IVW: β = −1.056, P = 0.004) and hip OA (IVW: β = −1.405, P = 0.001). Statin medication showed a protective effect on hip OA (IVW: β = −0.054, P = 0.013). HMGCR correlated significantly with a reduced risk of knee OA (β = −0.193, PSMR = 0.017), rather than hip OA (β = 0.067, PSMR = 0.502), which suggested that statins' protective effect on OA may not be related to its lipid‐lowering effect. Conclusion: This MR study provides compelling evidence that statin treatment may be a protective factor for OA. Further research is required to clarify its underlying mechanism. SET domain‐containing 2 (SETD2) is a histone methyltransferase. It regulates the activity of H3K36me3 to enhance gene transcription. Macrophages (Mϕs) are one of the cell types involved in immune response. The purpose of this study is to clarify the role of SETD2 in regulating the immune property of Mϕ. The Mφs were isolated from the bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) and analysed through flow cytometry and RNA sequencing. A mouse strain carrying Mφs deficient in SETD2 was used. A mouse model of airway allergy was established with the ovalbumin/alum protocol. Less expression of SETD2 was observed in airway Mϕs in patients with allergic asthma. SETD2 of M2 cells was associated with the asthmatic clinical response. Sensitization reduced the expression of SETD2 in mouse respiratory tract M2 cells, which is associated with the allergic reaction. Depletion of SETD2 in Mφs resulted in Th2 pattern inflammation in the lungs. SETD2 maintained the immune regulatory ability in airway M2 cells. BACKGROUND: High internal phase emulsions (HIPEs) are unique emulsion systems that transform liquid oil into solid‐like fats, thus avoiding the use of saturated fat and leading to a healthier and more sustainable food system for consumers. HIPEs with oil volume fraction (ϕ) of 75–85% were fabricated with mung bean protein isolate (MPI) under different pH shift treatments at 1.0% concentration through the one‐step method. In the present study, we investigated the physical properties, microstructures, processing properties, storage stability and rheological properties of HIPEs. RESULTS: The results suggested that the properties of MPI under different pH shift treatments were improved to different degrees, stabilizing HIPEs (ϕ = 75–85%) with various processability to meet food processing needs. Under alkali shift treatment conditions, the particle size of MPI was significantly reduced with better solubility. Moreover, the exposure of hydrophobic groups increased the surface hydrophobicity of MPI, awarding MPI better emulsifying properties, which could stabilize the HIPEs with higher oil phase fraction. In addition, the MPI under pH 12 shift treatment (MPI‐12) had the best oil‐carrying ability to form the stable HIPEs with oil volume fraction (ϕ) up to 85%, which was the highest oil phase in preparing the HIPEs using plant protein solely at a low concentration under neutral conditions. Recent years have seen high penetration of renewable energies, which have significantly reduced the inertia of bulk power systems. As a result, the frequency behaviour of power systems is becoming more complex. To resolve this technical challenge, there is a particularly strong interest in developing analytical solutions for frequency dynamics studies. This study first describes a second‐order frequency dynamics model for power systems with renewable energies. A non‐linear perturbation approach is suggested to drive the analytical solution of the model. It is shown that, under many circumstances, frequency dynamics can be effectively approximated using a linear model. Subsequently, the article describes a fourth‐order linear frequency dynamics model that takes into account governor‐turbines. A polynomial eigenvalue method is proposed to identify the dominant and non‐dominant modes of the solution of the four‐order model. It is demonstrated that the dominant mode has a decisive impact on frequency behaviour, while the non‐dominant modes influence the relative frequency oscillations only. Finally, the study derives the analytical expressions of the standard frequency performance metrics and examines the impact of damping and inertia parameters. Miniature resonant piezoelectric robots have the advantages of compact structure, fast response, high speed, and easy control, which have attracted the interest of many scholars in recent years. However, piezoelectric robots usually suffer from the problem of poor adaptability due to the micron‐level amplitude at the feet. Inspired by the fact that earthworms have actuation trajectories all around their bodies to move flexibly under the ground, a miniature piezoelectric robot with circumferentially arranged driving feet to improve adaptability is proposed. Notably, a longitudinal‐vibration‐compound actuation principle with multilegged collaboration is designed to achieve the actuation trajectories around the robot, similar to the earthworms. The structure and operating principle are simulated by the finite element method, and the prototype is fabricated. The robot weighs 22.7 g and has dimensions of 35.5 × 36.5 × 47 mm3. The robot is tethered to an ultrasonic power supply, and the experimental results show that the speed reaches 179.35 mm s−1 under an exciting signal with a frequency of 58.5 kHz and a voltage of 200 Vp‐p. High adaptability is achieved by the proposed robot, it can move on flat, fold, concave, and convex surfaces, and even in an inclined or rotating tube. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Increased atmospheric nitrogen (N) deposition significantly disturbs ecosystem N cycle. Although foliar interception and uptake of N deposition can provide an important alternative N supply to forest ecosystems, the mechanisms regulating foliar N uptake from wet deposition are not fully understood. Here, we selected 19 woody species with a wide range of plant traits from different functional groups and conducted a 15N isotope labelling experiment through brushing 15NH4+ and 15NO3− solution on canopy leaves. Our findings demonstrate that leaves can directly absorb N from wet deposition within a few hours. The average leaf 15N recoveries were 10% and 28% under 15NH4+ and 15NO3− treatments across species, respectively, while twig N recoveries were only 1%–7% of leaf N recoveries. Differences in foliar N uptake efficiency among species were closely associated with leaf traits but were little influenced by meteorological conditions or soil nutrient status. Specifically, plants with higher leaf N concentration, larger specific leaf area and lower wax concentration exhibited higher leaf N recovery. Our results indicated that tree canopies could directly absorb N from atmospheric deposition. We highlight the critical role of leaf traits in determining canopy foliar N uptake, which may consequently influence plant competition under elevated N deposition. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The brown planthopper (BPH, Nilaparvata lugens) is a notorious sap‐sucking insect pest that damages rice (Oryza sativa) plants throughout Asia. During BPH feeding, saliva enters rice plant tissues, whereas during oviposition egg‐associated secretions (EAS) are deposited in damaged plant tissue. Dynamic changes in rice to planthopper salivary effectors have been widely reported. However, the effects of EAS from planthopper on rice immunity remains largely unexplored. In this study, we found that both infestation of rice by gravid BPH female adults and treatment with the EAS elicited a strong and rapid accumulation of jasmonic acid (JA), JA‐isoleucine, and hydrogen peroxide in rice. EAS enhanced plant defenses not only in rice but also in tobacco, and these impaired the performance of BPH on rice, as well as the performance of aphids and whiteflies on tobacco. High‐throughput proteome sequencing of EAS led to 110 proteins being identified and 53 proteins with 2 or more unique peptides being detected. Some proteins from BPH EAS were also found in the salivary proteome from herbivores, suggesting potential evolutionary conservation of effector functions across feeding and oviposition; however, others were only identified in EAS, and these are likely specifically related to oviposition. These findings point to novel proteins affecting interactions between planthoppers and rice during oviposition, providing an additional source of information for effector studies. Dysbiosis of the gut microbiota has been implicated in hypertension, and drug–host–microbiome interactions have drawn considerable attention. However, the influence of angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB)‐shaped gut microbiota on the host is not fully understood. In this work, we assessed the alterations of blood pressure (BP), vasculatures, and intestines following ARB‐modified gut microbiome treatment and evaluated the changes in the intestinal transcriptome and serum metabolome in hypertensive rats. Hypertensive patients with well‐controlled BP under ARB therapy were recruited as human donors, spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHRs) receiving normal saline or valsartan were considered animal donors, and SHRs were regarded as recipients. Histological and immunofluorescence staining was used to assess the aorta and small intestine, and 16S rRNA amplicon sequencing was performed to examine gut bacteria. Transcriptome and metabonomic analyses were conducted to determine the intestinal transcriptome and serum metabolome, respectively. Notably, ARB‐modified fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT), results in marked decreases in systolic BP levels, collagen deposition and reactive oxygen species accumulation in the vasculature, and alleviated intestinal structure impairments in SHRs. These changes were linked with the reconstruction of the gut microbiota in SHR recipients post‐FMT, especially with a decreased abundance of Lactobacillus, Aggregatibacter, and Desulfovibrio. Moreover, ARB‐treated microbes contributed to increased intestinal Ciart, Per1, Per2, Per3, and Cipc gene levels and decreased Nfil3 and Arntl expression were detected in response to ARB‐treated microbes. More importantly, circulating metabolites were dramatically reduced in ARB‐FMT rats, including 6beta‐Hydroxytestosterone and Thromboxane B2. In conclusion, ARB‐modified gut microbiota exerts protective roles in vascular remodeling and injury, metabolic abnormality and intestinal dysfunctions, suggesting a pivotal role in mitigating hypertension and providing insights into the cross‐talk between antihypertensive medicines and the gut microbiome. Microsatellite instability (MSI) assessment is strongly recommended for colorectal cancer patients, as MSI status is crucial in determining optimal treatment and predicting prognosis. This study evaluated the reliability and accuracy of a novel polymerase chain reaction (PCR)‐based 8‐loci MSI test kit, a rapid test kit designed to detect MSI, by comparing its performance with immunohistochemistry (IHC) and the National Cancer Institute (NCI) 2B3D Panel. MSI status was determined in 186 formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded (FFPE) colorectal cancer tissue samples with known mismatch repair (MMR) status by IHC using the novel PCR‐based 8‐loci MSI test kit. Additionally, the consistency between the NCI 2B3D Panel and the novel PCR‐based 8‐loci panel was compared using 69 FFPE tumor tissues paired with adjacent non‐cancerous tissue. The novel PCR‐based 8‐loci MSI test kit and IHC demonstrated high concordance (overall agreement: 97.8%). However, four samples displayed discordant results, exhibiting MMR deficiency using IHC and microsatellite stability using the novel PCR‐based 8‐loci MSI test kit. Of the 69 samples reanalyzed using the NCI 2B3D Panel, high concordance with the novel PCR‐based 8‐loci MSI test kit was observed in 67 of 69 cases (overall agreement: 97.1%). Over the past decades, accumulating evidence suggests that the gut microbiome exerts a key role in Alzheimer's disease (AD). The Alzheimer's Association Workgroup is updating the diagnostic criteria for AD, which changed the profiles and categorization of biomarkers from "AT(N)" to "ATNIVS." Previously, most of studies focus on the correlation between the gut microbiome and amyloid beta deposition ("A"), the initial AD pathological feature triggering the "downstream" tauopathy and neurodegeneration. However, limited research investigated the interactions between the gut microbiome and other AD pathogenesis ("TNIVS"). In this review, we summarize current findings of the gut microbial characteristics in the whole spectrum of AD. Then, we describe the association of the gut microbiome with updated biomarker categories of AD pathogenesis. In addition, we outline the gut microbiome‐related therapeutic strategies for AD. Finally, we discuss current key issues of the gut microbiome research in the AD field and future research directions. Myocardial ischemia–reperfusion injury (MIRI) is a common clinic scenario that occurs in the context of reperfusion therapy for acute myocardial infarction. It has been shown that cocaine and amphetamine‐regulated transcript (CART) can ameliorate cerebral ischemia–reperfusion (I/R) injury, but the effect of CART on MIRI has not been studied yet. Here, we revealed that CART protected the heart during I/R process by inhibiting apoptosis and excessive autophagy, indicating that CART would be a potential drug candidate for the treatment of MIRI. Further analysis showed that CART upregulated the activation of phospho‐AKT, leading to downregulation of lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) release, apoptosis, oxidative stress and excessive autophagy after I/R, which was inhibited by PI3K inhibitor, LY294002. Collectively, CART attenuated MIRI through inhibition of cardiomyocytes apoptosis and excessive autophagy, and the protective effect was dependent on PI3K/AKT signalling pathway. Limited research has reported the association between MTNR1B gene polymorphisms and ischemic stroke (IS), and there is insufficient evidence on whether adopting a healthy lifestyle can mitigate genetic risks in this context. This study aimed to investigate the associations between MTNR1B gene variants (rs10830963 and rs1387153) and IS, examining the potential effect of gene–lifestyle interactions on IS risk. Conducted in northern China, this family‐based cohort study involved 5116 initially IS‐free subjects. Genotype data for rs10830963 and rs1387153 in MTNR1B were collected. Eight modifiable lifestyle factors, including body mass index (BMI), smoking, alcohol consumption, dietary habits, physical activity, sedentary time, sleep duration, and chronotype, were considered in calculating healthy lifestyle scores. Multilevel Cox models were used to examine the associations between MTNR1B variants and IS. Participants carrying the rs10830963‐G and rs1387153‐T alleles exhibited an elevated IS risk. Each additional rs10830963‐G allele and rs1387153‐T allele increased the IS risk by 36% (HR = 1.36, 95% CI, 1.12–1.65) and 32% (HR = 1.32, 95% CI, 1.09–1.60), respectively. Participants were stratified into low, medium, and high healthy lifestyle score groups (1537, 2188, and 1391 participants, respectively). Genetic–lifestyle interactions were observed for rs10830963 and rs1387153 (p for interaction < 0.001). Notably, as the healthy lifestyle score increased, the effect of MTNR1B gene variants on IS risk diminished (p for trend < 0.001). Accumulating evidence suggests that individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) show impairments in using contextual priors to predict others' actions and make intention inference. Yet less is known about whether and how children with ASD acquire contextual priors during action observation and how contextual priors relate to their action prediction and intention inference. To form proper contextual priors, individuals need to observe the social scenes in a reliable manner and focus on socially relevant information. By employing a data‐driven scan path method and areas of interest (AOI)‐based analysis, the current study investigated how contextual priors would relate to action prediction and intention understanding in 4‐to‐9‐year‐old children with ASD (N = 56) and typically developing (TD) children (N = 50) during free viewing of dynamic social scenes with different intentions. Results showed that children with ASD exhibited higher intra‐subject variability when scanning social scenes and reduced attention to socially relevant areas. Moreover, children with high‐level action prediction and intention understanding showed lower intra‐subject variability and increased attention to socially relevant areas. These findings suggest that altered fixation patterns might restrain children with ASD from acquiring proper contextual priors, which has cascading downstream effects on their action prediction and intention understanding. Lay Summary: Skilled social interactions require individuals to infer others' intentions and predict others' actions based on prior experiences, which is impaired in children with ASD. The present study investigated whether and how children with ASD acquire prior knowledge and how their prior knowledge would influence action prediction and intention understanding during viewing dynamic social scenes. We found that children with ASD viewed social scenes in an unpredictable way and showed decreased attention to socially relevant areas as compared with typically developing children. Moreover, children with high‐level action prediction and intention understanding observed the social scenes in a more predictable way and exhibited increased attention to socially relevant areas. Waveform inversion is theoretically a powerful tool to reconstruct subsurface structures, but a usually encountered problem is that accurate sources are very rare, causing the computation to be unstable or divergent. This challenging practical problem, although sometimes ignored and even imperceptible, can easily create discrepancies in calculated shot gathers, which will then lead to wrong residuals that will be smeared back to the gradients, hence jeopardizing the inverted tomograms. For any real dataset, every shot gather corresponds to its unique source even if some gathers can be transformed alike after data processing. To resolve this problem, we propose a collocated inversion of sources and early arrival waveforms with the two submodules executing successively. Not only can this method reconstruct a decent source wavelet that approaches the ground truth, but also it can produce credible background tomograms with optimized sources. Part of the cycle skipping problems can also be mitigated because it avoids the trial and error experiments on various sources. Numerical tests on a synthetic and a land dataset validate the effectiveness of this method. Sentiment analysis is a fine‐grained analysis task that aims to identify the sentiment polarity of a specified sentence. Existing methods in Chinese sentiment analysis tasks only consider sentiment features from a single pole and scale and thus cannot fully exploit and utilise sentiment feature information, making their performance less than ideal. To resolve the problem, the authors propose a new method, GP‐FMLNet, that integrates both glyph and phonetic information and design a novel feature matrix learning process for phonetic features with which to model words that have the same pinyin information but different glyph information. Our method solves the problem of misspelling words influencing sentiment polarity prediction results. Specifically, the authors iteratively mine character, glyph, and pinyin features from the input comments sentences. Then, the authors use soft attention and matrix compound modules to model the phonetic features, which empowers their model to keep on zeroing in on the dynamic‐setting words in various positions and to dispense with the impacts of the deceptive‐setting ones. Experiments on six public datasets prove that the proposed model fully utilises the glyph and phonetic information and improves on the performance of existing Chinese sentiment analysis algorithms. Elemental doping is considered to be a promising approach for altering the electronic structure, optical absorbance, and charge separation characteristics of graphitic carbon nitride (g‐C3N4, termed as CN), thus boosting its photocatalytic performance for practical applications. Herein, a series of boron (B) doped g‐C3N4 (named as BCN) photocatalysts are developed via one‐step pyrolysis of a mixture of urea and 3‐methoxycarbonyl‐5‐nitriophenylboronic acid (MCNPBA). The results show that B‐atoms have been successfully incorporated into the g‐C3N4 network. The as‐synthesized BCN‐x (x shows the weight content of MCNPBA) photocatalysts are evaluated in photocatalytic hydrogen (H2) evolution from water splitting under visible‐light (λ ≥ 420 nm). The optimized BCN‐10 sample shows a maximum H2 evolution rate of 1789.93 µmol h─1 g─1, which is 6.2 times higher than that of g‐C3N4 (289.73 µmol h─1 g─1). This is attributed to the fact that the electron‐deficient B‐atoms are lewis acids that trap electrons, which in turn expands visible‐light absorption, narrows the bandgap, and prevents the recombination of photogenerated charge carriers. Moreover, B‐doping can readily modify the valence and conduction band positions of g‐C3N4, therefore augmenting the photocatalytic H2 evolution activity. This paper presents a unique rational framework for developing other functionalized electron‐deficient elemental‐doping g‐C3N4‐based photocatalysts for practical applications in solar‐to‐fuel conversion. Objective: Observational studies have suggested associations of birth weight, childhood BMI, and adulthood BMI with thyroid function or diseases. However, the causal relationships remain unclear due to residual confounding inherent in conventional epidemiological studies. Methods: We performed a two‐sample Mendelian randomization (MR) study to investigate causal relationships of genetically predicted birth weight, childhood BMI, and adulthood BMI with a range of clinically relevant thyroid outcomes. Additionally, we conducted a reverse MR analysis on adulthood BMI. Data on exposures and outcomes were obtained from large‐scale genome‐wide association study meta‐analyses predominantly composed of individuals of European ancestry. Results: The MR analysis revealed no evidence of causal associations of birth weight or BMI at different life stages with thyrotropin (TSH) levels, hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, autoimmune thyroid disorders, or thyroid cancer. Contrarily, thyroid cancer demonstrated a significant causal relationship with increased adulthood BMI (β = 0.010, 95% CI: 0.006–0.015; p = 5.21 × 10−6). Conclusions: Our comprehensive MR did not find causal links of birth weight, childhood BMI, or adulthood BMI with thyroid diseases but provided evidence that thyroid cancer may play a role in weight gain.
