Blockchain technology (BCT) is regarded as one of the most important and disruptive technologies in Industry 4.0. However, no comprehensive study addresses the contributions of BCT adoption (BCA) on some special business functionalities projected as financial variables like BCA integrity, transparency, etc. Therefore, the primary objective of this study was to close this theoretical gap and determine how BCA has contributed to the four business sectors that were selected since FinTech had the greatest potential in these domains. The PRISMA approach, a systematic literature review model, was used in this work to make sure that the greatest number of studies on the topic were accessed. The PRISMA model's output helped identify relevant publications, and an analysis of these studies served as the foundation for this paper's findings. The findings reveal that BCA for companies with a disrupting financial technology (FinTech) attitude can help in securing corporate transaction transparency; offer knowledge, same-data, and information sharing; enhance fidelity, integrity, and trust; improve organizational procedures; and prevent fraud with cyber-hacking protection and fraudulence suspension. Moreover, blockchain's smart contract utilization feature offers ESG and sustainability functionality. This paper's novelty is the projection to four business sectors of the three-layer research sequence: (i) financial variables operated as BCA functionalities, (ii) issues, risks, limitations, and opportunities associated with the financial variables, and (iii) implications, theoretical contributions, questions, potentiality, and outlook of BCA/FinTech issues. And the ability of managers or practitioners to reference this sequence and make decisions on BCA matters is considered a key contribution. The proposed methodology provides business practitioners with valuable insights to reevaluate their economic challenges and explore the potential of blockchain technology to address them. This study combined a systematic literature review (SLR) with qualitative analysis as part of a hybrid research approach. Quantitative analysis was carried out on all 835 selected papers in the first step, and qualitative analysis was carried out on the top-cited papers that were screened. The current work highlights the key challenges and opportunities in established blockchain implementations and discusses the outlook potentiality of blockchain technology adoption. In today's world, the banking sector, government organizations, and various users in the finance and insurance sectors have grown exponentially. In such situations, they become primary targets for attackers. The main focus of these attackers is to disrupt services for legitimate users. Recently, attackers have targeted banks in Ukraine during the Russia-Ukraine war, causing a shortage of money in banks and making it difficult for people to withdraw funds. These types of attacks fall under the category of Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks. The primary objectives of these DDoS attacks are to gain financial control and damage the reputation of the affected organization or country. The purpose of this paper is to detect DDoS attacks using various Decision Tree Classifiers in Machine Learning algorithms. We utilized the 'caret' package in R, which is well-known for its Classification and Regression Techniques. We split the KDD'99 dataset based on the outcome variable. We employed the 'rpart' method to classify the dataset using CART and C4.5 algorithms. The importance of artificial intelligence in the banking industry is reflected in the speed at which financial institutions are adopting and implementing AI solutions to improve their services and adapt to new market demands. The aim of this research is to conduct a bibliometric analysis of the involvement of artificial intelligence in the banking sector to provide a comprehensive overview of the current state of research to guide future directions and support the sustainable development of this rapidly expanding field. Another important objective is to identify research gaps and underexplored areas in the field of artificial intelligence in banking. The methodology used is a bibliometric analysis using VOSviewer, analysing 1089 papers from the Web of Science database. The results of the study provide relevant information for banking professionals but also for policy makers. Thus, the study highlights key areas where banks are using artificial intelligence to gain competitive advantage, thereby guiding practitioners in strategic decision making. Moreover, by identifying emerging trends and patterns in AI adoption, the study helps banking practitioners with foresight, enabling them to anticipate and prepare for future developments in the field. In terms of governmental implications, the study can contribute to the development of more nuanced regulatory frameworks that effectively balance the promotion of AI innovation with the protection of ethical standards and consumer protection. In this paper we examine the transformation of big data in the banking industry, where data has become a major asset. The advent of big data analytics is bringing about a major shift in how banks operate, interact with customers and make strategic decisions. The article first examines big data, focusing on its key features: volume, velocity, and diversity, then its impact on banking operations and then provides a comprehensive analysis of the origins of big data in its banking sector of the industry, including marketing history, customers and communications, social media engagement, and others. In addition to contributing to the banking industry's vast database, the paper outlines the many ways banks are using big data, from improving risk management to improving customer services to fraud by identifying activities and increasing operational efficiency. Finally, the article addresses big data challenges for banking, such as data privacy and security issues, and provides case studies to illustrate the tangible benefits that banks gain by embracing big data analytics acknowledge its value. Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to identify the factors that influence the image of banks in the Polish banking sector among members of Generation Z (Gen Zers) and assess the strength of their impact. Design/methodology/approach: The methods used to achieve this purpose included a literature review and a diagnostic survey with an original questionnaire. The study employed PAPI and CAWI techniques and targeted Gen Zers with accounts at commercial and/or cooperative banks in Poland. Findings: The study identified the determinants influencing the image of banks and assessed their impact on how Gen Zers perceive banks in Poland. The findings indicate that the factors with the greatest impact on the image of banks in the Polish banking sector are security, convenience and accessibility, and technologies and innovations. Research limitations/implications: Since the research part of the paper is based on a survey study, the findings are somewhat superficial. A significant limitation preventing these findings from being generalized globally is the scope of the study, which was conducted solely among customers of the Polish banking sector. Therefore, it would be beneficial to expand the research by conducting a qualitative study, and by including it customers of banks from other countries. Practical implications: By understanding the impact of the determinants influencing the perception of banks in the Polish banking sector among Gen Zers, those responsible for managing the bank's image will be better equipped to understand the needs and expectations of the youngest generation of banking service users. This, in turn, should lead to more effective management of the bank's image among a generation that currently makes up almost one-fourth of the Polish population. Originality/value: The paper is primarily aimed at individuals in managerial positions in commercial and cooperative banks within the Polish banking sector, as well as bank image specialists. The ranking of the determinants influencing the image of banks among Gen Zers, presented in the paper, partially fills the research gap by revealing the real needs and expectations of the youngest generation of bank customers. Purpose: This study provides a bibliometric analysis of bank efficiency and competition over the past years (from 1993 to 2022) to (1) discover the past and current state of knowledge on bank competition and efficiency, (2) identify leading and authoritative journals and scholars who made significant contributions to the distribution of knowledge and impact, (3) identify nations that made a significant contribution and impact to the literature and (4) identify the structure of collaboration that exists between scholars in the areas of bank competition and efficiency and key thematic areas. Design/methodology/approach: A total number of 868 documents made up of articles, reviews, book chapters, book and conference papers from the Scopus database were gathered. This study used a bibliometric analytic approach. Findings: The number of documents on bank competitiveness and efficiency has increased significantly, as have their total publications, citations and national output. Additionally, the most esteemed and prestigious academic journals of eminent academics who have had a significant impact on the dissemination of knowledge on bank efficiency and competition literature champion papers on banking efficiency and competition. In terms of citation performance and collaborative efforts, the United States tops the developed countries, led by China, which is also the most productive. Additionally, single-country publications predominate in the literature, with China ranking first among the top five countries with corresponding authors. While the Lerner index, H-statistic, concentration index and market power were used to measure bank competitive behaviour, the data envelopment analysis approach predominates efficiency estimation techniques that are linked to cost, profit or revenue, scale, technical and productivity indexes. Originality/value: This study is one of the first to offer bibliometric evidence of both bank competition and efficiency. Purpose: The ongoing evolution of the Internet and the subsequent digitalisation of financial services, along with the ever-increasing innovation of financial products, have rendered consumers more vulnerable to a wider range of fraud in the banking sector and, particularly, to consumer financial fraud (CFF). This paper aims to analyse the factors that may contribute to CFF exposure and victimisation among Spaniards, with a special focus on financial literacy. Design/methodology/approach: This paper provides a comprehensive overview of leading publications on the topic, followed by empirical analyses using regression models with a sample of 6,207 Spanish individuals drawn from the Survey of Financial Competences. Findings: Objective and subjective financial knowledge are positively correlated with CFF exposure via email but do not protect against CFF victimisation. Similarly, financial knowledge overconfidence is positively related to the former but fails to constitute a driver of the latter. Financial inclusion, measured by the number of financial products held, not only increases the risk of this exposure but also contributes to its subsequent victimisation. Originality/value: To the best of the authors' knowledge, no previous paper has analysed the relationship between CFF and financial literacy by differentiating two types of vulnerabilities to fraud (exposure and victimisation) while considering different constructs of financial literacy. Dissecting these two domains may explain why the same financial literacy construct can have different effects at both stages of financial fraud and, furthermore, how different financial literacy constructs may affect the same stage of financial fraud. Taking the data of 61 small and medium-sized commercial banks in China from 2014 to 2021 as a research sample, this paper conducts an empirical study on the relationship between market competition and the risk-taking of small and medium-sized banks, and further considers the moderating role of economic policy uncertainty and non-interest business income. The results show that the intensification of market competition increases the risk-taking of small and medium-sized banks. Meanwhile, economic policy uncertainty dampens the positive effect of market competition on bank risk-taking, and commission income and other non-interest income have important mediating effects in the relationship between market competition and bank risk-taking. In this paper, we examine the relationship between open banking and tax evasion. As the open banking literature is still evolving, we try to systematically analyze the literature on conventional banking and tax evasion and then extend the discussion in the context of open banking. The popularity of open baking recently raises a question about its relationship with tax evasion. Digital banking and digital taxation contributed positively to mitigating tax evasion in the context of conventional banking. However, in open banking, the customers can decide to what extent they will share any transaction-related data with their bank, while they can also choose to complete direct transactions with third parties. This creates a new challenge in relation to the mitigation of tax evasion, which is the focus of this paper. Due to lack of granular empirical data, we conduct a systematic literature review and a bibliometric analysis to track the development of the relevant academic debates and identify the arguments that have been presented in relation to this topic. This approach is recognized as well suited for emerging topics in finance research, particularly when data are scarce, as evidenced by studies on COVID-19 and biodiversity. We find that the gaps of the current regulatory framework, at both the national and supranational level, have created challenges and uncertainties at multiple levels.
