To solve the problem where the prediction formula for vibration velocity by dynamic compaction cannot fully reflect the elevation amplification effect, the elevation amplification effect of vibration velocity by dynamic compaction was studied theoretically, and the factors that influence the elevation amplification effect of vibration velocity by dynamic compaction were systematically analyzed in this paper. The elevation amplification effect of a loess high slope under dynamic compaction is coformed by the refraction and reflection superposition effect of dynamic compaction vibration waves at the soil layer interface and the diffraction effect of dynamic compaction vibration waves. The propagation path of dynamic compaction vibration waves in soil was analyzed, and the elevation amplification effect was verified theoretically. The related physical quantities that affected the dynamic compaction vibration velocity of a loess high slope were analyzed based on the dimensional analysis method, and the calculation and improved calculation formulas that considered the elevation amplification effect of dynamic compaction vibration velocity were obtained. The multiple regression analysis of the calculation and improved calculation formula that considered the elevation amplification effect of the dynamic compaction vibration velocity was carried out using MATLAB with engineering examples. The results show that the relative error of the two formulas is small when the elevation difference is small; when the elevation difference is large, the calculation accuracy of the improved calculation formula that considered the elevation difference is higher, and it is more in line with the actual situation. Finally, according to the selected maximum allowable value of the slope particle velocity (e.g., 1.5, 2.0, and 2.5 cm/s), the allowable safe distance for dynamic compaction on a loess high slope is proposed area of northern Shaanxi Province, China. The results of this paper could provide a reliable basis for predicting vibration velocity by dynamic compaction in the Loess Plateau area of northern Shaanxi Province, China. They might have a reference value for dynamic compaction vibration control under similar terrain environments with large elevation differences and provide a safe guide for a dynamic compaction construction site in the Loess Plateau area of northern Shaanxi Province, China. This paper studied the characteristics of the carbon emission of an industrial wastewater treatment plant (IWWTP) and a domestic WWTP (DWWTP) located in a high-tech industrial park of Shaanxi Province, China. The results showed that the total carbon emissions of the IWWTP and DWWTP were 10.13 kg/t and 1.84 kg/t in 2020, respectively. Indirect carbon emissions play a dominant role in the total carbon emission of the IWWTP, which accounts for about 97.6% of the total amount. The direct carbon emissions of greenhouse gases (e.g., CH4, N2O) account for about 62% of the total carbon emissions in the DWWTP, followed by the indirect carbon emissions generated by electricity consumption (31.06%) and chemical consumption (6.94%). Additionally, the centralized recycling and re-utilization of the wastewater could achieve 1.06 kg/t and 1.16 kg/t of carbon emission reduction in the IWWTP and DWWTP, respectively, while the carbon emissions of the DWWTP are inversely proportional to the treatment capacity. Therefore, it is of great value to collect and utilize intensively the recycled water to achieve the goal of regional carbon emission reduction and carbon neutralization of WWTPs in industrial parks. In the rural areas of Northwest China, the utilization of clean and renewable energy is deemed a crucial measure for reducing building energy consumption and environmental pollutant emissions. This paper focuses on constructing a simulation platform for a solar-assisted air source heat pump heating system. A rural residential building in Yongshou County, Shaanxi Province, serves as an illustrative example. A novel flexible temperature control method with a feedback controller in sub-area and period is proposed in this paper, alongside the selection of three distinct objective functions aimed at optimizing the heating system. The simulation results indicate an average temperature of 17.0 °C throughout the heating cycle, with a peak temperature of 18.7 °C. Moreover, the solar fraction is measured at 25.11%, underscoring the significance of collector area and heat storage tank volume as primary factors in system design. The results also demonstrate that across various optimization objectives, the life cycle cost optimization scheme yields greater economic benefits, while the target building unit heating cost optimization scheme boasts the shortest static payback period and lowest unit heating cost. Conversely, the solar fraction optimization scheme stands out for its superior environmental benefits. Encouraging the use of conservation tillage technology is a highly effective approach to safeguarding soil health, improving the environment, and promoting sustainable agricultural development. With the mounting concerns surrounding climate change, developing conservation tillage methods that facilitate sustainable agricultural growth has become an imperative both in China and around the world. While it is widely recognized that adapting to climate change is crucial in agriculture, there is limited research on evaluating the risks, discovering resilience, measuring farmers' perceptions on climate change, and exploring how tillage technology can be adjusted in the context of small-scale farming in China to foster sustainable development. Using research data from smallholder farmers in the Shaanxi and Shanxi provinces of China, this paper aims to explore the impact of climate change perceptions on farmers' adoption of conservation tillage technologies based on an ordered Probit model. We found that farmers tend to refrain from embracing conservation tillage technology due to the presence of unclear and conflicting perceptions regarding climate change. Focus on short-term profitability and inadequate preparation hinder them from prioritizing adaptation. We recognized several measures that could help farmers adapt and thrive within the agricultural sector. Furthermore, we have validated the need for self-system moderation in promoting farmers' adoption of conservation tillage technology. By utilizing such tools and resources, farmers can comprehend the gravity of climate change's impact on agricultural productivity and, more importantly, channel their efforts towards fortifying resilience to extreme weather conditions and long-term climate risks, thus fortifying agricultural sustainability. This paper investigates the impact of e-commerce participation on household development resilience using a sample of 1229 households in the Shandong and Shaanxi provinces of China in 2022. It constructs the developmental resilience index of farm households from three dimensions of economy, society and culture using the entropy method, and establishes a counterfactual framework using the Propensity Score Matching (PSM) method. The results suggest that participation in e-commerce has a significant and positive impact on farming household development resilience. The PSM method estimates that participation in e-commerce increases the developmental resilience of farming households by 9.63% compared to non-participation, with economic, social, and cultural resilience increasing by 9.29%, 9.84%, and 9.92%, respectively. The robustness test results confirm the findings. Further analysis reveals that participation in e-commerce enhances farm household development resilience through three mechanisms: improving economic efficiency, network relationship linkage, and risk appetite. Heterogeneity analysis shows that the impact of e-commerce participation on household development resilience varies among farmers with different endowment constraints. Compared with the stock-land exploitation of developed regions in eastern China, the development path in the western regions still relies on land expansion. Among them, Shaanxi stands out as an early-developing region with the highest comprehensive social and economic development level in the west, presenting a more significant and typical phenomenon of urban expansion. This paper utilizes remote sensing image data and socioeconomic statistical data, employing mathematical and statistical analysis methods to examine the types and patterns of urban spatial expansion in Shaanxi over multiple years. It also summarizes the laws of expansion and subsequently delves into the driving factors of the spatial expansion. The result shows that the important driving factors of urban expansion in Shaanxi include natural geographical conditions, the economic development basis, the development of new towns and new areas, the drive of large-scale projects, and the guidance of urban and rural planning. The differences in driving factors between the east and west can be explained by the stages of regional development and the effects of administrative boundaries. This research aims to provide localized insights into the rational regulation of urban spatial evolution and efficient land use in similar regions and latedeveloping regions in western China. This paper examines the impact of institutional pressure (IP), top management support (TMS), green supply chain management practices (GSCM), and supply chain competitive advantage (SCCA) on corporate environmental performance (EP). We also analyze the mediation effect of GSCM on the interplay between TMS and EP. Additionally, the paper also provides an analysis of the moderating role of SCCA between IP and EP. To attain the objective of this research, we assembled data from 710 business entities within the Shaanxi province of China utilizing a survey design approach. The structural equation model (SEM) was applied to test and assess the hypothetical outline. The study outcomes empirically show that TMS, GSCM, and SCCA positively and significantly impact EP. Interestingly, our study found an insignificant association between IP and EP. The study's results also demonstrate that IP directly relates to top management support. Moreover, the study's empirical findings reveal that GSCM positively mediates IP and EP. The study findings show that SCCA shapes IP and EP's connection. Accordingly, the practical implications of our study's findings suggest that business managers, investors, and government agencies must know the importance of adopting sustainable practices within the supply chain. Business managers must take action to integrate environmental criteria into supplier selection, evaluate suppliers' EP, and collaborate with eco‐friendly suppliers. Hence, government agencies, stakeholders, and business managers can use this information to shape regulations and policies that encourage businesses to adopt sustainable supply chain practices. Offering incentives such as tax benefits or grants for sustainability initiatives can also promote adoption. The study recommends that a business culture that targets improving EP due to IP and top management support is essential in achieving GSCM practices, thereby promising competitive advantage. Southwest China is one of the three largest continuous karst clusters in the world; therefore, studies on karst rocky desertification in this area are very important. For more than 20 years' control, the decreasing area and risk of karst rocky desertification has contributed to the continuous ecological improvement. Nowadays, studies on rocky desertification mainly focus on the eight provinces in Southwest China, which have been designated as rocky desertification monitoring areas by the Chinese government. After the first phase of the comprehensive control project for karst rocky desertification in 2016, the expansion trend of rocky desertification in the southwest region was effectively curbed. Subsequent articles published tend to focus on analyzing the current situation, comprehensive management, or species adaptability of rocky desertification monitoring areas. However, the Qinba region in Shaanxi Province is located outside the monitoring area. In the process of studying the karst geological relics of the Zhenba Sanyuan Tiankeng Group, signs of rocky desertification have been found, but there still exists a research gap in the investigation and research on karst rocky desertification in this area which is one of the areas with the richest biodiversity in China, known as "ecological lung", "central water tower" and "biological gene bank". Unfortunately, this area is burdened with poverty, so the investigation and study of karst rocky desertification in the Qinba region of Shaanxi Province is of great significance to ensure green and high-quality development and ecological civilization construction. In this paper, by analyzing the current situation of karst rocky desertification in Southwest China, we summarized its harm to the ecological environment and social economy, clarify natural and human factors resulting in rocky desertification, and integrate the typical treatment experience in Southwest China. We also introduce three technical methods, including remote sensing interpretation, UAV remote sensing survey and analysis of carbonate dissolution rate, to provide a scientific basis for studies on karst rocky desertification in the Qinba region of Shaanxi Province. Study results show that the area of karst rocky desertification in the Qinba region covers 63.37 km², and the areas of severe, moderate and mild rocky desertification cover 17.97 km², 21.60 km² and 23.80 km², respectively. Based on the survey results, there are both regional differences and some similarities in distribution patterns in the areas of rocky desertification development. Specifically, the degree of rocky desertification in the limestone area is more severe than that in the dolomite area. It is also more severe in the area with developed water system than that in the arid and semi-arid area, and the more active the new structure is, the more severe the rocky desertification is. Compared to the Southwest China, the degree of karst rocky desertification in the Qinba region of Shaanxi Province is relatively light, with a smaller distribution area, mainly due to the less rainfall in the study area. The karst rocky desertification in Beiyang mountain of Zhen'an county is the most severe, with an area of 7.28 km². In the 1960s, a large-scale free-range of livestock severely damaged vegetation. The indiscriminate deforestation by humans further exacerbated the process of rocky desertification. The rocky desertification in Hailuogong village of Shanyang county is also severe, covering an area of 5.83 km², because the landform in this area is a typical peak-cluster depression, which is likely developed into rocky desertification. The contradiction between people and land needs to be solved urgently. In conclusion, more monitoring and research efforts are needed in Beiyang mountain and Hailuogong where the rocky desertification is severe. Firstly, we should clarify the causes of rocky desertification in the Qinba region and compare them with the causes in Southwest China to determine whether the rocky desertification is mainly resulted from natural factors or human factors. Secondly, we should know how to clarify the causes of karst rocky desertification in the Qinba region; for example, we can dynamically monitor the change of rock desertification by field verification, remote sensing interpretation, climate change analysis, etc. We can also calculate the contribution rate of each influence factor by geographical detector model. Thirdly, we should further study influence factors of karst dissolution rate. We can monitor physical and chemical properties of soil (soil moisture, carbon dioxide concentration, pH, organic matter content and porosity) in areas with moderate to severe rocky desertification, and analyze the relationship between dissolution rate and physical and chemical properties of soil in rocky desertification areas. Finally, in order to provide basic data for carbon neutrality research in Shaanxi, we should conduct studies on the carbon sink of rocky desertification areas in the Qinba region, with the methods such as dissolution test pieces and hydrochemical runoff. As a new concept for systematically evaluating ecosystem services, Gross Ecosystem Product (GEP) provides an effective means to comprehensively reveal the overall status of the ecosystem, the impact of economic activities on the ecological environment, and the effectiveness of ecological protection efforts. GEP accounting has been conducted in various regions; however, GEP's application in natural reserves still requires further exploration. Taking the Qinling Mountains as the research area, this paper aims to assess the relationship between GEP and economic development on the basis of the GEP accounting system. The results indicated that: (1) From 2010 to 2020, GEP tended to increase continuously and exhibited a distribution pattern with high value regions in the east and west, and low value regions in the north and south. (2) Over the years, the coupling coordination degree between GEP and GDP was in a consistent upward trend. In 2020, a good coupling coordination state between GEP and GDP was achieved in most districts and counties. (3) With the relative development between GEP and GDP, the social economy of most districts and counties lagged behind GEP in 2010. The number of districts and counties lagging in GEP in 2020 increased, while the number of regions with a balanced development of GEP and GDP was still relatively discouraging. (4) In general, elevation, contagion, temperature, population density, and precipitation were the main drivers of coupling coordination degree between GEP and GDP. If the relationship between economic development and ecological environmental protection can be reasonably balanced, it will further promote the sustainable development of nature reserves, and provide a scientific basis for sustainable policy-making in other similar areas. Climate change is an important issue for cities today and in the future. At present, China has a large population and complex climate conditions, and cities are also vulnerable to the adverse effects of climate change (Tian, Environ Sustain Dev 6: 153-155 2020). Three-dimensional greening can not only improve the green space system of a city but also have a far-reaching impact on the ecology, image, and economic benefits of a city. Therefore, the study of urban three-dimensional greening is an effective means to deal with climate change strategies. By exploring the influence of traditional greening and three-dimensional greening on Local Climate in Beilin District of Xi'an, Shaanxi Province, the mechanism of three-dimensional greening on urban ecological environment was discussed, and the ecological theory, urban three-dimensional greening theory, and urban local climate zone (LCZ) were referred to. Based on the methods of national climate monitoring, ENVI-met simulation, and field independent measurement, this paper selected a research sample site in the east section of Jianshe Road, Beilin District, Xi'an City, Shaanxi Province, China, and applied ENVI-met software to simulate the thermal stress relationship among building exterior surfaces, plants, and air in the street; quantified the overall ecology of the area; and used measuring instruments. The influence of different types of greening in the base on the site temperature, humidity, CO2 (carbon dioxide) concentration, wind speed, and other climate factors data was, respectively, measured and analyzed. The grid analysis was used to compare the traditional greening and three-dimensional greening, then the numerical differences of each impact factor were sorted out, and the effect of three-dimensional greening on the improvement of urban ecological environment was discussed by analyzing the climate factors with greater impact. The results show that (1) three-dimensional greening plus traditional greening is the most beneficial mode; (2) in the same environment, according to the parameter of 1.5 m from the ground in the model environment, it can be seen that the temperature of the space treated with three-dimensional greening of buildings is reduced by 3.5–3.6 ℃ compared with the control group, the relative humidity is different by 7–8%, the CO2 concentration is reduced by about 5%, and the spatial wind speed is relatively small. (3) When the urban green coverage rate is more than 40%, the improvement of temperature is more obvious, if it reaches 50%, the cool phenomenon in summer can be fundamentally changed. From the perspective of human perception, the PMV index increased by 0.27 on average. This paper discusses and analyzes the three-dimensional greening of urban streets in Beilin District, Xi'an City, Shaanxi Province, China, and studies its influence on urban ecology to different degrees. The conclusions are as follows: Different types of greening have different degrees of influence on urban climate. Meanwhile, the experimental results of this paper show that in cities like Xi'an, Shaanxi Province, China, where summer is hot, adding three-dimensional greening to traditional street greening can significantly improve the environmental microclimate, which is an effective means to cope with climate change, improve the site environment, and stabilize the urban ecosystem. An anti-slide pile is a common landslide control measure. Compared with the full-length pile whose top extends to the ground, the buried pile is more optimal in internal force distribution, saves material and has remarkable economic benefits. At present, there is a lack of in-depth theoretical analysis on the pile length of the load section of double-row buried piles. In order to establish the design calculation method of pile length in the load section of double row buried piles, this paper is based on the failure mode of overtopping. The design equation of load section pile length is obtained by using the transfer coefficient and limit equilibrium method. Taking a landslide in Yan'an City, Shaanxi Province, China, as an example, the reliability and economics of double-row buried piles are verified by comparing the treatment effects of single-row, double-row and double-row buried piles, and the engineering design is completed. The results show that the landslide control project using the design calculation method can meet the requirements of slope stability and at the same time save a quarter of the material compared with the double row of full-length piles. The engineering example proves the rationality and practicability of the design method and provides engineering reference value for the use of the double-row buried anti-slide pile structure in large-scale landslide treatment. The study of the ecological effects of the Sloping land conversion program (SLCP) has great significance for afforestation optimization policies based on cost-effectiveness. This paper uses the panel fixed effect model and the panel threshold model to study the ecological effects of fiscal investments in the SLCP at the county level in Shaanxi Province of China. The regional ecological performance indicated by the normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) has improved after the implementation of the SLCP, but the vegetation suffers degradation risks due to the cessation of subsidies. The results demonstrate strong support for a time lag effect, an effect of diminishing marginal returns, and a threshold effect whereas a significant but negative direct effect of SLCP's fiscal investments on the vegetation. Specifically, it takes approximately four years after fiscal investments for the NDVI to realize the greatest investment performance. The marginal contribution of fiscal investments to ecological performance reveals an increasing trend initially, followed by a decreasing trend. In addition, the ecological effects of fiscal investments in the SLCP are moderated negatively by ecological endowments. The results indicate that fiscal investments in the SLCP should consider its cost-effectiveness in policy design and improvements. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Yaozhou Kiln is a famous ancient center for celadon production in China, located in present-day Shaanxi Province. While analyzing its olive-green celadon produced during the Song Dynasty, a common occurrence of brownish base (foot and bottom) was observed. This phenomenon can also be found in porcelain produced at other kilns in China and Vietnam. However, previous research has not systematically explored the coloration mechanism behind it. Through different analytical methods, coupled with reproduction firing experiments, this paper concludes that the brownish base is attributed to the diffusion of iron from the body and sand cushion into the thinly applied glaze on the base, as well as the crystallization formed by the combination of the sand cushion and the surface glaze. Factors influencing the depth of the brownish color include: (1) the iron content of the body; (2) the thickness of the base glaze; and (3) the sand cushion material. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Red tourism is a distinctive form of tourism in China. Its network attention serves as a typical indicator to measure the level of promotion and publicity for red tourism, as well as an important reflection of its influence. Understanding the network structure of red tourism is of significant importance for optimizing the spatial pattern of tourism and promoting the development of the tourism industry. Based on this, this study takes the classic red tourism attractions in Shaanxi province, China as an example and constructs a multi-source data network attention evaluation index. Additionally, it employs social network theory to explore the network attention and tourist flow characteristics of the case study area. Research shows that: (1) Overall, the network attention to case-based destinations is relatively low, and there are significant differences in network attention among different attractions. Spatially, the distribution of network attention is uneven. This is manifested by higher network attention to attractions in Yan'an city and lower network attention to attractions in other regions. (2) There are differences in the network attention of different types of attractions. High-level attractions have a higher level of online attention, while low-level attractions have a lower level of network attention. Additionally, archaeological sites tend to receive a higher level of online attention. (3) The network density of tourist flow is low, and the tourism connections between nodes are not closely linked. The linkage between core nodes and edge nodes in tourism is poor. Developed tourism routes only exist in core nodes. (4) Nodes such as Zaoyuan revolution site, Yangjialing revolution site, and Wangjiaping revolution site have a significant influence in the network structure. In addition, the integration and development between red nodes and non-red nodes have been achieved. (5) There is a correlation between network attention and tourist flow, as well as a 'misplacement' feature. Based on the characteristics of attractions, they can be divided into four types: bright-star attractions, cash-cow attractions, thin-dog attractions, and question attractions. As an essential way to enhance farmers’ self-development ability, off-farm employment plays an indispensable role in farmers’ multidimensional poverty reduction in many countries. Employing a survey of 1926 farmers in five provinces of the Yellow River Basin in China, this paper examined the multi-dimensional poverty reduction effect of off-farm employment and the heterogeneous influence of different dimensions of off-farm employment (modes, levels, distances and frequency). The results showed that (1) although absolute poverty in the income dimension was largely eliminated in the Yellow River Basin, the poverty in social resources, transportation facilities, employment security were the key bottlenecks restricting farmers’ self-development. (2) The province with the best multidimensional poverty reduction effect for non-farm employment was Shaanxi, with the largest contribution to employment security. (3) Improving off-farm employment level, distance and time can significantly alleviate the multi-dimensional poverty of farmers. Therefore, to lessen the multi-dimensional poverty of farmers in the Yellow River Basin, it is necessary to focus on the governance of multi-dimensional key poverty-stricken areas, such as the middle and upper courses of the Yellow River, adopting multidimensional poverty alleviation strategy of off-farm employment according to local conditions, working on the farmers’ deficiencies in social resources, mobility, employment security, and deepening the effect of off-farm employment on benefiting farmers and helping the poor. Solar composting chamber is an important way for disposing rural domestic waste locally, which requires the participation of farmers. However, few studies have explored farmers' cooperation preference for solar composting chamber, even without considering farmers' heterogeneity. Therefore, this paper divides the farmers into three types: economic, social, and cognitive dominant. The Choice Experiment method is used to investigate all types of farmers' cooperation preference and willingness to accept subsides for the solar composting chamber, using the survey data of China's Shaanxi province. The findings show that social-dominant farmers favor supply models that incorporate government subsidies, more participating farmers, and technical support, while economic-dominant farmers prefer models that include closer construction distances in addition to those. In contrast, cognitive-dominant farmers prefer models with more withdrawal flexibility in addition to the aforementioned factors. Furthermore, economic-dominant farmers have the lowest value of willingness to accept subsidies, i.e., 10,923 dollars, while cognitive-dominant farmers have the highest, i.e., 22,197 dollars. Plowing refers to the phenomenon by which a landslide displaces and pushes the path material forward. Despite its importance in shaping the dynamics of many rapid flow-like loess landslides, the mechanism of plowing is not fully understood. Therefore, this paper presents an improved numerical model based on the material point method (MPM). This model takes into account the interactions between the landslide mass and the path material. The reliability of this model was validated by simulating two granular column collapse experiments involving interaction with an erodible mass. The model was then applied to analyze the plowing dynamics of the Ximiaodian loess landslide in Jingyang County, Shaanxi Province, China. A series of well-designed simulations were conducted to investigate this specific landslide event, contributing to a deeper understanding of the plowing phenomenon in loess landslides. The simulation results show that our model can satisfactorily simulate the plowing process of the Ximiaodian landslide. The plowing process of a rapid-flow loess landslide is proposed to consist of four distinct stages: 1) the collision stage, when the landslide strikes the terrace, resulting in the bending of its strata; 2) the shear failure stage, characterized by significant plastic shear deformation within the bent strata, resulting in the formation of multiple shear failure planes; 3) the steady plowing stage, during which the deformation structure in the affected terrace stabilizes and plowing continues in a steady pattern; and 4) the stopping stage, when the propagation of the disturbed terrace gradually stops. Furthermore, the disturbed terrace zone exhibits three distinct deformation structures. In the rear part, a stable zone develops where the terrace layers are compressed. However, due to the compressive forces exerted by the overlying loess, no significant shear deformation is observed. Prosoponoides shaanxisp. n. is described, based on a single male from high altitude in the Qinling Mountains, Shaanxi Province, China. The species is similar to both Oriental Prosoponoides hamatumMillidge & Russell-Smith, 1992 and P. sinense (Chen, 1991), but it can easily be distinguished by structural details of the palp. The construction of an ecologically livable rural environment requires treating rural domestic waste. Farmers, as key participants in rural domestic waste disposal, can improve the rural environment by disposing of domestic waste in an environmentally friendly manner. Few studies have examined the cadre–farmer relationship and its impact on rural waste pollution. Using a questionnaire survey of farmers in Shaanxi Province, China, this study estimates the effect of cadre–farmer relationship on their willingness to treat domestic waste. The findings indicate that a positive cadre–farmer relationship significantly increases farmers' willingness to treat domestic waste. This positive relationship can also strengthen the positive effects of institutional rules on waste treatment willingness. Further mechanism analysis shows that a good cadre–farmer relationship mobilizes farmers to protect the environment and to comply with national ecological laws and regulations, enhancing their willingness to treat domestic waste. Selenium (Se) is an essential trace element for humans and animals, and an excess of or deficiency in Se is harmful to health. Research on the selenium enrichment zone began in the late 1970s in Shuang'an, Ziyang, southern Shaanxi Province. Naore village is only one selenosis area in Shuang'an, Ziyang, China. Different scholars have conducted systematic studies on the occurrence of selenium, its organic geochemistry and biomarkers, and its content and enrichment patterns in this area. This study applied the TIMA (TESCAN integrated mineral analyzer) for the first time to conduct detailed mineralogical work. The minerals included quartz, carbonate minerals (calcite and dolomite), feldspar (plagioclase, albite, and orthoclase), biotite and muscovite, clay minerals (chlorite and kaolinite), hematite, pyrite, and accessory minerals (almandine, olivine, zircon, and apatite) in Naore village, Ziyang, Shaanxi Province. The ATi index (100 × apatite/(apatite + tourmaline)) is used to determine the source of heavy minerals and the degree of heavy minerals' weathering. The content POS (100 × (pyroxene + olivine + spinel)/transparent heavy mineral) of olivine, pyroxene, and spinel in heavy minerals can reflect the contribution of basic and ultrabasic rocks in the source area. The ATi and POS indexes for the heavy minerals in the research area were 91.83~99.96 and 0.01~18.75, respectively, reflecting the abundance of volcanic rock material in their source. In addition, the migration, transformation, bioavailability, and toxicity of selenium in the environment are closely related to its species. The species of selenium in various selenium-rich areas (Naore, Wamiao, and Guanquan) mainly include unusable residues and organic forms, followed by humic-acid-bound selenium. Rural tourism development has an important impact on optimizing the rural industrial structure and stimulating local economic growth. China's Rural Revitalization Strategy has promoted the development of rural tourism nationwide and emphasized Chinese characteristics in the process of local development. Based on the theoretical analysis of landscape perception, this article uses the external Landscape Perception→Satisfaction→Revisit Intention influence path as a theoretical research framework to construct a structural equation model to analyze the willingness of tourists to revisit rural tourism destinations. We selected Nangou Village, Yan'an City, Shaanxi Province, as a key model village for rural revitalization, and conducted an empirical analysis. The empirical analysis results show that landscape perception has a significant positive impact on satisfaction and revisit intention. Tourist satisfaction has a significant positive impact on revisit intention and plays an intermediary role between landscape perception and revisit intention. The five dimensions of natural ecology, historical culture, leisure recreation, research experience, and integral route under landscape perception are all significantly positively correlated with revisit intention, with historical culture and integral route having the greatest impact on landscape perception. The survey about Nangou Village verifies the relationship between landscape perception, satisfaction, and tourists' revisit intention. Based on the objective data analysis results, this study puts forward suggestions for optimizing Nangou Village's tourism landscapes and improving tourists' willingness to revisit from three aspects: deeply excavating rural historical and cultural resources, shaping the national red culture brand, and creating rural tourism boutique routes. Hancheng is located in the eastern part of China's Shaanxi Province, near the west bank of the Yellow River. It is located at the junction of the active geological structure area. The rock layer is relatively fragmented, and landslide disasters are frequent. The occurrence of landslide disasters often causes a large number of casualties along with economic losses in the local area, seriously restricting local economic development. Although risk assessment and deformation mechanism analysis for single landslides have been performed for landslide disasters in the Hancheng area, this area lacks a landslide traces database. A complete landslide database comprises the basic data required for the study of landslide disasters and is an important requirement for subsequent landslide-related research. Therefore, this study used multi-temporal high-resolution optical images and human-computer interaction visual interpretation methods of the Google Earth platform to construct a landslide traces database in Hancheng County. The results showed that at least 6785 landslides had occurred in the study area. The total area of the landslides was about 95.38 km2, accounting for 5.88% of the study area. The average landslide area was 1406.04 m2, the largest landslide area was 377,841 m2, and the smallest landslide area was 202.96 m2. The results of this study provides an important basis for understanding the spatial distribution of landslides in Hancheng County, the evaluation of landslide susceptibility, and local disaster prevention and mitigation work. Background: Food safety has always been a major concern for people, and frequent food safety incidents pose a serious threat to people's health and safety. To identify high-risk patterns in the field of food safety and assist regulatory authorities in scientifically managing food safety risks, this study aims to evaluate food safety risks from multiple dimensions and provide a scientific basis for formulating targeted food safety management measures. Methods: The risk matrix method, along with the Borda method, is used to evaluate food safety risks. Based on the constructed food safety incident database, the risk matrix method is applied for static risk assessment from seven aspects: food categories, years, provinces, incident entities, causes, pollution sources, and links, and for dynamic risk assessment in different provinces. Results: The top five food categories in risk ranking are meat and meat products, fruits and vegetables, grain and grain products, other category, and aquatic products. Food safety risks show an increasing trend year by year, with the years 2006, 2012-2015 and 2019 having higher risk rankings. The top three provinces in risk ranking are Hunan, Guangdong, and Shaanxi. The top four entities in risk ranking are restaurants, enterprises, households, and canteens. The top four causes in risk ranking are human intention, human error, mismanagement, and production and social environment. The top four pollution sources in risk ranking include chemical pollution, other pollution, biological pollution, and food additives. The top three links in risk ranking include production and processing link, catering link, and agricultural production link. Across provinces, food safety risks in the years 2012-2015 are generally higher compared to other years, with the highest number of high-risk provinces in 2014. Implication: The findings of this study have significant implications for food safety management in China. By implementing food safety risk prevention and control countermeasures proposed, China can strengthen its food safety management framework, reduce the incidence of food safety incidents, and safeguard the health and well-being of its population. Soil water content (SWC) plays a vital role in agricultural management, geotechnical engineering, hydrological modeling, and climate research. Image-based SWC recognition methods show great potential compared to traditional methods. However, their accuracy and efficiency limitations hinder wide application due to their status as a nascent approach. To address this, we design the LG-SWC-R3 model based on an attention mechanism to leverage its powerful learning capabilities. To enhance efficiency, we propose a simple yet effective encoder–decoder architecture (PVP-Transformer-ED) designed on the principle of eliminating redundant spatial information from images. This architecture involves masking a high proportion of soil images and predicting the original image from the unmasked area to aid the PVP-Transformer-ED in understanding the spatial information correlation of the soil image. Subsequently, we fine-tune the SWC recognition model on the pre-trained encoder of the PVP-Transformer-ED. Extensive experimental results demonstrate the excellent performance of our designed model (R2 = 0.950, RMSE = 1.351%, MAPE = 0.081, MAE = 1.369%), surpassing traditional models. Although this method involves processing only a small fraction of original image pixels (approximately 25%), which may impact model performance, it significantly reduces training time while maintaining model error within an acceptable range. The coordinated development of land urbanization and population urbanization is crucial for the advancement of new urbanization. The study applied the entropy weight method and coupling coordination degree model, taking Shaanxi—a province in China characterized by a moderate pace of economic development and volume, along with distinct geographic and demographic features within its region—as the subject. It assessed the coordination conditions of these two types of urbanization from both macro and micro scales during the years 2010–2022. Utilizing the Analytic Network Process (ANP), the study ranked and analyzed the causes of issues stemming from uneven development, thus connecting a crucial link from theoretical analysis to decision-making implementation. The results showed that: (1) The province's land urbanization index was between 0.075 and 0.203, whereas the population urbanization index ranged from 0.221 to 0.408, with the development of the former significantly lagging behind the latter. (2) The coupling degree between land and population urbanization ranged from 0.835 to 0.854, with a coordination degree between 0.148 and 0.306. This indicated that a close connection had been formed between the two, yet a benign coupling relationship had not been established, displaying a spatial distribution characterized by "high in the middle, low in the north and south". (3) The limitation on further urban expansion was identified as the primary issue to be addressed (with a weight of 0.324), followed by insufficient infrastructure (with a weight of 0.261). The extent of ecological environmental damage was comparatively lower (with a weight of 0.225), and the degree of social injustice was the lowest (with a weight of 0.191). Therefore, to alleviate the problems associated with the imbalanced development between land urbanization and population urbanization, measures such as optimizing land spatial layout, enhancing urban ecological service functions, and strengthening the central cities' radiating effect should be implemented. China's need for energy resources is growing every day. Future energy demands will be partly met by low-temperature pyrolysis of oil-rich coal, which is a form of coal-to-oil technology. Under the existing fully-mechanized coal mining technology, oil-rich coal is mechanically broken into different particle sizes by a shearer and used in different industrial utilization directions. However, due to differences in particle size and material composition, the pyrolysis products of oil-rich coal with different natural particle sizes are different, which affect the pyrolysis efficiency of oil-rich coal with different particle sizes. In order to explore the differences and influencing factors of pyrolysis products of oil-rich coal with different particle sizes, and taking Jurassic oil-rich coal in northern Shaanxi as the research object, the differences and causes of pyrolysis production of oil and gas from nine kinds of oil-rich coal with different natural particle sizes under existing coal mining conditions are discussed according to particle size characteristics, pore structure, heat transfer velocity and molecular structure. The findings demonstrate that the pyrolysis characteristics of coal do not show a single trend with change in particle size. With decrease in particle size, the ash and sulfur contents were relatively high, and the tar yield increased first and then decreased. In contrast, the light fraction decreased overall, and the heavy fraction decreased. The tar yield of 0.125–0.25 mm was the highest, and the tar content was 1.996 g. For the gas components produced by pyrolysis, the contents of CH4, CO and H2 first increased and then decreased with decrease in particle size, while the contents of CO2 and CnHm showed the opposite trend. Larger particles (about 30 mm) affect the escape efficiency of pyrolysis products and the amount of carbon deposition due to the difference in porosity (interparticle resistance) of the inner surface and pyrolysis bed, resulting in secondary reactions of the products escaped from a primary reaction, thus affecting the differences in pyrolysis products. The heat transfer process of coal was affected by particle size, and the thermal conductivity increased gradually with decrease in particle size, which is consistent with the change of tar yield with particle size. The maceral components and molecular structure functional groups in coal with different particle sizes were also different, which resulted in the differences in tar yield. Studies have shown that smaller particle sizes have longer alkyl side chains, and pyrolysis accompanied by rising temperature causes different changes in the aliphatic hydrocarbon content in coal coke after pyrolysis. The aliphatic hydrocarbon content decreased the most when the particle size was 0.125 mm, which is more beneficial to the improvement of tar yield. In addition, vitrinite is a good carrier of tar yield, and the granular coal vitrinite after crushing is enriched to smaller particles. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Simple Summary: Mammalian orthoreovirus (MRV) infects many hosts, including humans and animals, in which it causes gastroenteritis and respiratory disease. In China, it has been found in domestic animals such as pigs, cattle, deer, and minks; however, MRV prevalence in small ruminants is still unknown, and a rapid, specific, quantification assay for clinical detection of animal samples is urgently needed. In this study, we established a TaqMan qRT-PCR method for MRV detection targeting the conserved L1 gene. The method was optimized, and the specificity, sensitivity, and repeatability were used to assess quality. We used this method for MRV detection in goat and sheep samples. The overall MRV prevalence was 8.2% (35/429), and the test showed a significantly higher sensitivity than RT-PCR and virus isolation. MRV clearly showed seasonal prevalence, with a high positive rate of infections in goats and sheep from September to April. Small ruminants under two months of age were susceptible to MRV infection. This study investigated the epidemiological characteristics of MRV infection and provides the first evidence of MRV infection in sheep and goats in China, broadening our knowledge of MRV hosts in this country. Mammalian orthoreovirus (MRV) infections are ubiquitous in multiple mammalian species including humans, and mainly causes gastroenteritis and respiratory disease. In this study, we developed a rapid and sensitive TaqMan qRT-PCR method for MRV detection based on the primers and probe designed within the conserved L1 gene. The qRT-PCR assay was evaluated for its sensitivity, specificity, efficiency and reproducibility. It was found that the detection sensitivity was equivalent to 10 DNA copies/μL, and the standard curves had a linear correlation of R2 = 0.998 with an amplification efficiency of 99.6%. The inter- and intra-assay coefficients of variation (CV%) were in the range of 0.29% to 2.16% and 1.60% to 3.60%, respectively. The primer sets specifically amplified their respective MRV segments and had the highest detection sensitivities of 100.25 TCID50/mL with amplification efficiencies of 99.5% (R2 = 0.999). qRT-PCR was used for MRV detection from samples of sheep, goats, and calves from four regions in China, and the overall MRV prevalence was 8.2% (35/429), whereas 17/429 (4.0%) were detected by RT-PCR and 14/429 (3.3%) by virus isolation. The qRT-PCR assay showed significantly higher sensitivity than RT-PCR and virus isolation. Results from an epidemiological survey indicated that the positive rate of MRV in rectal swabs from sheep and goats tested in Shaanxi, Jiangsu, and Xinjiang were 9/80 (11.3%), 12/93 (12.9%) and 14/128 (10.9%), respectively. In goats and sheep, MRV prevalence was obviously associated with season and age, with a high positive rate of more than 8% during September to April and approximately 13% in small ruminant animals under two months of age. This is the first instance of MRV infection in sheep and goats in China, thus broadening our knowledge of MRV hosts. Consequently, primer optimization for qRT-PCR should not only prioritize amplification efficiency and specificity, but also sensitivity. The Shuangwang Au deposit (with a gold resource of approximately 70 t Au), is located in the Fenxian-Taibai fore-arc basin in the West Qinling Orogen of central China. Igneous intrusions in the region include the Xiba granitic pluton and granite porphyry and lamprophyre dykes. The Xiba pluton is composed of granodiorite and monzonite granite. The granodiorite is typical I-type granite, and it yields a crystallization age of 221.1 ± 1.2 Ma and a two-stage Hf model age of 1432–1634 Ma. The monzonite granite shows a transitional characteristic between I-type and A-type granite, and it yields a crystallization age of 214.8 ± 1.2 Ma and a two-stage Hf model age of 1443–1549 Ma. The granitoid was derived mainly from a crust–mantle mixed source. The ages indicate that the granodiorite and monzonite granite formed during two different stages. The REE distribution patterns of the Xiba granitoid exhibit significant fractionation between LREE and HREE, showing right-dipping curves, with an enrichment of LREE and a deficit of HREE. The granodiorite displays a light negative Eu anomaly, while the monzonite granite displays an obvious negative Eu anomaly. The granite porphyry dikes are distributed in the No. I breccia and Jiupinggou granite porphyry, and they yield crystallization ages of 219.9 ± 1.5 Ma and 213.1 ± 0.89 Ma, respectively, and two-stage Hf model ages of 1382–1501 Ma and 1373–1522 Ma, respectively. The lamprophyre dikes in the deposit yield a crystallization age of 214.4 ± 2.7 Ma. After the collision event between the Yangtze and the North China Plates along the Qinling orogenic belt, at approximately 220 Ma in the Late Triassic, the detachment of the slab produced the upwelling of the asthenosphere material. Under conditions of mantle heat and tectonic stress, widespread partial melting of the subducted continental crust and the upper lithosphere mantle occurred, forming granitoids with various degrees of adakite characteristics. The presence of viruses that spread to both plant and fungal populations in nature has posed intriguingly scientific question. We found a negative-strand RNA virus related to members of the family Phenuiviridae, named Valsa mali negative-strand RNA virus 1 (VmNSRV1), which induced strong hypovirulence and was prevalent in a population of the phytopathogenic fungus of apple Valsa canker (Valsa mali) infecting apple orchards in the Shaanxi Province of China. Intriguingly, VmNSRV1 encodes a protein with a viral cell-to-cell movement function in plant tissue. Mechanical leaf inoculation showed that VmNSRV1 could systemically infect plants. Moreover, VmNSRV1 was detected in 24 out of 139 apple trees tested in orchards in Shaanxi Province. Fungal inoculation experiments showed that VmNSRV1 could be bidirectionally transmitted between apple plants and V. mali, and VmNSRV1 infection in plants reduced the development of fungal lesions on leaves. Additionally, the nucleocapsid protein encoded by VmNSRV1 is associated with and rearranged lipid droplets in both fungal and plant cells. VmNSRV1 represents a virus that has adapted and spread to both plant and fungal hosts and shuttles between these two organisms in nature (phyto-mycovirus) and is potential to be utilized for the biocontrol method against plant fungal diseases. Accurate building energy consumption prediction is a crucial condition for the sustainable development of building energy management systems. However, the highly nonlinear nature of data and complex influencing factors in the energy consumption of large public buildings often pose challenges in improving prediction accuracy. In this study, we propose a combined prediction model that combines signal decomposition, feature screening, and deep learning. First, we employ the Complete Ensemble Empirical Mode Decomposition with Adaptive Noise (CEEMDAN) to decompose energy consumption data. Next, we propose the Maximum Mutual Information Coefficient (MIC)-Fast Correlation Based Filter (FCBF) combined feature screening method for feature selection on the decomposed components. Finally, the selected input features and corresponding components are fed into the Bi-directional Long Short-Term Memory Attention Mechanism (BiLSTMAM) model for prediction, and the aggregated results yield the energy consumption forecast. The proposed approach is validated using energy consumption data from a large public building in Shaanxi Province, China. Compared with the other five comparison methods, the RMSE reduction of the CEEMDAN-MIC-FCBF-BiLSTMAM model proposed in this study ranged from 57.23% to 82.49%. Experimental results demonstrate that the combination of CEEMDAN, MIC-FCBF, and BiLSTMAM modeling markedly improves the accuracy of energy consumption predictions in buildings, offering a potent method for optimizing energy management and promoting sustainability in large-scale facilities. Microbially mediated carbon cycling is essential for the production of refractory dissolved organic carbon and subsequent formation of stable carbon sinks at the sediment–water interface (SWI) in aquatic ecosystems, such as lakes. It remains unclear how this process is influenced by hydrostatic pressure changes due to water level fluctuation in deep-water reservoirs. Here, a microcosm simulation experiment was carried out to decipher the response of microbially mediated carbon cycling to various hydrostatic pressures (i.e., 0.1 MPa [atmospheric pressure], 0.2 MPa, 0.5 MPa, 0.7 MPa) at the SWI in Jinpen Reservoir, Shaanxi Province, China. The response mechanisms of microbial community structure, functional gene abundance, and metabolic pathway activity associated with carbon cycling were explored by metagenomics and metabolomics. Results showed that the number of microbial species in sediment samples increased with elevating pressure. The relative abundance of archaea also increased from 0.2% to 0.4% as a consequence of pressure elevation, accompanied by 0.17% and 0.03% decrease in bacteria and fungi, respectively. In contrast with low pressures, high pressures allowed the microbial communities to form a more closely connected network, which maintained more complex interspecies interactions and greater system stability. High pressures additionally improved the abundances of specific functional genes (e.g., ALDO, ACO, sdhA, and sdhC) in carbon metabolic pathways, promoted carbon fixation by the reductive pentose phosphate (Calvin) and citrate cycles, and hindered methanogenesis. Piezophilic taxa (e.g., Gammaproteobacteria, Alphaproteobacteria, Bacteroidetes) and genes (e.g., ompH, asd) were identified among carbon cycling-associated microbial communities. The piezophilic genes, which were mainly present in the Proteobacteria phylum, increased first and then decreased in abundance with elevating pressure. The findings indicate that elevated hydrostatic pressure contributes to carbon sequestration at the SWI in deep-water reservoirs by changing carbon cycling-associated microbial species, as well as relevant functional genes and metabolic pathways. The utilization of the Monte Carlo method in conjunction with probabilistic seismic hazard analysis (PSHA) constitutes a compelling avenue for exploration. This approach presents itself as an efficient and adaptable alternative to conventional PSHA, particularly when confronted with intricate factors such as parameter uncertainties and diverse earthquake source models. Leveraging the Monte Carlo method and drawing from the widely adopted Cornell-type seismicity model in engineering seismology and disaster mitigation, as well as a seismicity model capturing temporal, spatial, and magnitude inhomogeneity, we have derived a formula for the probability of earthquake intensity occurrence and the mean rate of intensity occurrence over a specified time period. This effort has culminated in the development of a MATLAB-based program named MCPSHA. To assess the model's efficacy, we selected Baoji City, Shaanxi Province, China, as our research site. Our investigation delves into the disparity between occurrence probability and extreme probability (a surrogate commonly employed for occurrence probability) in the Baoji region over the next 50 years. The findings reveal that the Western region of Baoji exhibits a heightened hazard level, as depicted in the maps, which illustrate a 10% probability of exceedance within a 50-year timeframe. The probability of earthquake occurrence under various intensities (VI, VII, and VIII) over 50 years follows a declining trend from west to east. Furthermore, the likelihood of seismic intensity exceeding VI, VII, and VIII indicates the lowest exceeding probability in the northeast and the highest in the northwest. Notably, for intensities VI-VII, the difference between occurrence probability and extreme probability approaches twice, gradually diminishing with increasing intensity. This study underscores the MCPSHA model's efficacy in providing robust technical support for mitigating earthquake risk and enhancing the precision of earthquake insurance premium rate calculations. Urban growth in China over the past 40 years has increased sharply. Following a modernist approach during this period, the historic urban cultural landscape was neglected. Recently, in response, scholars have been investigating alternative approaches whose conceptual roots spring from traditional Chinese urban planning. The theory of the 'Science of Human Settlement Environment' has emerged as a framework for exploring this direction. This research, drawing upon literary records, historic city maps, and field investigations, builds on this approach. Yulin City, initially developed as a high-ranking military city during the Ming Dynasty, drew upon the characteristics of the existing landscape and traditional Chinese planning strategies for its design. Noting the relationship of the city's layout to its surrounding Shan-Shui (Mountain-Water), the development of its principal axis, the influence of the Tuo Mountain spiritual space, and the definition of the city wall, greater insight into traditional Chinese planning can be learned. The South Jingyang tableland, located in Shaanxi Province, China, is composed of loess deposits. Agricultural irrigation in this area has caused the continuous rise of the groundwater table, which triggered a series of loess landslides. Although extensive research has been conducted on the effect of rising groundwater tables on induced loess landslides, less is known about the groundwater table distribution. This study jointly investigated the distribution of the groundwater table in the South Jingyang tableland using boreholes, electrical resistivity tomography (ERT), and laboratory tests. A qualitative analysis between the apparent resistivity and the water content was estimated at different depths, using the borehole data and ERT inversion data. A quantitative relationship between the resistivity and the water content was established in the laboratory tests. A combination of the qualitative analysis of the inversion results and the quantitative relationship was used to determine the distribution of the groundwater table. The groundwater table is present at the depth where the water content of the loess is 30% (liquid limit of loess) and the resistivity is 28.35 Ω m. The groundwater table elevation in the southern study area is higher than that of the northern study area and decreases in a stepwise gradient from south to north. This study not only identified the distribution of the groundwater table in the South Jingyang tableland, but also makes up for the limitation and inaccuracy in determining groundwater tables by relying solely on the borehole information or inversion results of ERT. Agricultural technology adoption is an important way to improve agricultural technology and production efficiency and promote agricultural modernization. However, the low willingness to adopt agricultural technologies has been a challenge in China. Cognitive load may affect smallholder farmers' decision to adopt new technologies. Using an experimental economics approach, we examine the effect of cognitive load on smallholder farmers' willingness to adopt technology from a cognitive perspective based on a field experiment with 440 smallholder farmers in Shaanxi Province, China, in 2021 and 2022. The experimental results show that cognitive load has a significant negative effect on farmers' willingness to adopt technology, and the higher the level of cognitive load, the lower the farmers' willingness to adopt the technology. From the mechanism of action, cognitive load influences smallholder farmers' technology adoption intention by consuming their attention. In addition, cognitive ability, technology training, and government subsidies had heterogeneous effects on cognitive load affecting farmers' willingness to adopt new technologies, i.e., the cognitive load had less inhibitory effects on technology adoption willingness of smallholder farmers who has the high cognitive ability, participated in technology training and received government subsidies. Therefore, in the context of rural revitalization, the Chinese government should pay attention to the influence of farmers' cognitive mechanism on their willingness to adopt agricultural technologies, improve their cognitive ability, provide more technical training guidance, and provide targeted subsidies, to guide farmers to actively adopt new technologies and get rid of the "poverty trap".
