We present cross sections for the formation of positronium chloride (PsCl) in its ground state from the charge exchange between positronium (Ps) and chloride (Cl−) in the range of 10 meV–100 eV Ps energy. We have used theoretical models based on the first Born approximation in its three-body formulation. We simulated the collisions between Ps and Cl− using ab initio binding energies and positronic wave functions at both the mean-field and correlated levels extrapolated to the complete basis set limit. The accuracy of these ab initio data was benchmarked on the PsF system with the existing highly accurate results, including the very recent quantum Monte Carlo results. We have investigated Ps excited states up to n = 4. The results suggest that the channel Ps(n = 2) is of particular interest for the production of PsCl in the ground state and shows that an accurate treatment of correlation effects (i.e., electron–electron and electron–positron correlations) leads to a significant change in the magnitude of the PsCl production cross section with respect to the mean-field level. Proton exchange reactions are of key importance in many processes in water. However, it is nontrivial to achieve reliable barrier heights for multiple proton exchanges and complexation energies in hydrogen-bonded systems theoretically. Performance of the fixed-node diffusion quantum Monte Carlo (FN-DMC) with the single-Slater–Jastrow trial wavefunction on total energies, barrier heights of multiple proton exchanges, and complexation energies of small water, ammonia, and hydrogen fluoride clusters is investigated in this study. Effects of basis sets and those of locality approximation (LA), T-move approximation (T-move), and determinant localization approximation (DLA) schemes in dealing with the nonlocal part of pseudopotentials on FN-DMC results are evaluated. According to our results, diffuse basis functions are important in achieving reliable barrier heights and complexation energies with FN-DMC, although the cardinal number of the basis set is more important than diffuse basis functions on total energies of these systems. Our results also show that the time step bias with DLA and LA is smaller than T-move; however, the time step bias of DMC energies with respect to time steps using the T-move is roughly linear up to 0.06 a.u., while this is not the case with LA and DLA. Barrier heights and complexation energies with FN-DMC using these three schemes are always within chemical accuracy. Taking into account the fact that T-move and DLA are typically more stable than LA, FN-DMC calculations with the T-move or DLA scheme and basis sets containing diffuse basis functions are suggested for barrier heights of multiple proton exchanges and complexation energies of hydrogen-bonded clusters. The progress of proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs) in the clean energy sector is notable for its efficiency and eco-friendliness, although challenges remain in terms of durability, cost and power density. The oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) is a key sluggish process and although current platinum-based catalysts are effective, their high cost and instability is a significant barrier. Single-atom catalysts (SACs) offer an economically viable alternative with comparable catalytic activity for ORR. The primary concern regarding SACs is their operational stability under PEMFCs conditions. In this article, we review current strategies for increasing the catalytic activity of SACs, including increasing active site density, optimizing metal center coordination through heteroatom doping, and engineering porous substrates. To enhance durability, we discuss methods to stabilize metal centers, mitigate the effects of the Fenton reaction, and improve graphitization of the carbon matrix. Future research should apply computational chemistry to predict catalyst properties, develop in situ characterization for real-time active site analysis, explore novel catalysts without the use of platinum-based catalysts to reduce dependence on rare and noble metal, and investigate the long-term stability of catalyst under operating conditions. This study investigates post-synthetic ligand exchange in a series of copper(II) and chromium(II) cuboctahedral cages of the formula M24(R-bdc)24 through solvent-free mechanochemistry for the preparation of mixed-ligand cages. While solvent-based ligand exchange does not proceed when the cages are insoluble or when they are dissolved in non-coordinating solvents, solvent-free mechanochemistry can be used to prepare a number of mixed-ligand cages featuring a variety of functional groups regardless of cage solubility. We further extend this strategy to intercage ligand exchange reactions where the solid-state reaction of cages proceeds in just ten minutes while corresponding solvent-based reactions require more than one week of reaction time. The results highlight mechanochemically-facilitated ligand exchange as an exceptionally facile and efficient method for the production of mixed-ligand cuboctahedral cages. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Polymers are ideally utilized as damping materials due to the high internal friction of molecular chains, enabling effective suppression of vibrations and noises in various fields. Current strategies rely on broadening the glass transition region or introducing additional relaxation components to enhance the energy dissipation capacity of polymeric damping materials. However, it remains a significant challenge to achieve high damping efficiency through structural control while maintaining dynamic characteristics. In this work, we propose a new strategy to develop hyperbranched vitrimers (HBVs) containing dense pendant chains and loose dynamic crosslinked networks. A novel yet weak dynamic transesterification between the carboxyl and boronic acid ester was confirmed and used to prepare HBVs based on poly (hexyl methacrylate‐2‐(4‐ethenylphenyl)‐5,5‐dimethyl‐1,3,2‐dioxaborinane) P(HMA‐co‐ViCL) copolymers. The ABn ${{AB}_{n}}$ ‐type of macromonomers, the crosslinking points formed by the dynamic covalent connection via the associative exchange, and the weak yet dynamic exchange reaction are the three keys to developing high‐performance HBV damping materials. We found that P(HMA‐co‐ViCL) 20k‐40‐60 HBV exhibited ultrahigh energy‐dissipation performance over a broad frequency and temperature range, attributed to the synergistic effect of dense pendant chains and weak dynamic covalent crosslinks. This work conducts ablation experiments and multi-scale numerical simulations of C/SiC composite materials under CW laser action. The highest surface temperature, macroscopic and microscopic ablation morphology, and approximate ablation threshold for C/SiC composites at different power densities were obtained. A multi-scale ablation calculation method for C/SiC composite materials under CW laser action was established using the level-set method. At the meso-scale, a macro-mesoscopic cross-scale surface ablation model was established, taking into account factors such as solid heat transfer, heat exchange of chemical reactions, differential temperature rise process between internal fibers and matrix, and differences in ablation behavior of two-dimensional plain weave fabrics. The experimental and microscale simulation results indicate that different ablation behaviors (oxidation and sublimation) occur in different regions, resulting in "shoot tip" fibers and residual matrix pore morphology. A series of novel protic amino acid ionic liquids (PAAILs) are designed and synthesized for the first time through acid–base neutralization and an ion exchange reaction. Among the synthesised PAAILs, the [DBNH][Maba] PAAIL has the largest CO2 absorption capacity of 0.78 mol mol−1 (0.142 g g−1) at 313.2 K. A composite material of tungsten carbide and mesoporous carbon was synthesized by the sol-gel polycondensation of resorcinol and formaldehyde, using cetyltrimethylammonium bromide as a surfactant and Ludox HS-40 as a porogen, and served as a support for Pd-based electrodes. Phosphorus-modified Pd particles were deposited onto the support using an NH3-mediated polyol reduction method facilitated by sodium hypophosphite. Remarkably small Pd nanoparticles with a diameter of ca. 4 nm were formed by the phosphorus modification. Owing to the high dispersion of Pd and its strong interaction with tungsten carbide, the Pd nanoparticles embedded in the tungsten carbide/mesoporous carbon composite exhibited a hydrogen oxidation activity approximately twice as high as that of the commercial Pt/C catalyst under the anode reaction conditions of proton exchange membrane fuel cells. To circumvent the issue of halide ion exchange in perovskites, we have decorated CsPbBr3 and CsPbI3 nanocrystals with different sized PbSe nanoparticles and demonstrated that it effectively prevents anion exchange reaction in CsPbBr3/CsPbI3 nanoheterostructures (NHSs) as a consequence of halide vacancy passivation by the more covalent selenide anion. Growing interest in improved structural diversity within the pharmaceutical industry has led to a focus on more sp3‐rich drug frameworks. Meanwhile, spiralling pharmaceutical research and development costs continue to require expedited adsorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion, and toxicity studies, which are heavily reliant on the use of molecules incorporating deuterium and tritium. Herein, we report an iridium catalyzed C(sp3)−H activation and hydrogen isotope exchange (HIE) methodology capable of utilizing pharmaceutically ubiquitous nitrogen‐based carbonyl directing groups. High levels of deuterium incorporation (>80% in 37 of the examples) are demonstrated across a range of substrates (5‐, 6‐, and 7‐membered lactams, cyclic carbamates and ureas, acyclic amides), with tolerance of a range of common functional groups (aryl, alkoxy, halogen, ester, alcohol, sulfonamide) and predictable regioselectivity. The applicability of this methodology was demonstrated with up to 98% deuterium incorporation observed in a range of challenging bioactive molecules such as Nefiracetam, Praziquantel, and Unifiram. Density functional theory has provided mechanistic insight into the C−H activation and HIE at both the expected site of incorporation and an unexpected aryl labelling via a 7‐membered metallocyclic intermediate. Rare‐earth‐metal (Ln) alkyl and aryl compounds feature highly reactive, thermally labile [Ln−C] σ‐bonds which result in rapid and violent decomposition in the presence of air and moisture. Nevertheless, such [Ln−C] moieties display important intermediate species in numerous organic transformations. Reagents containing [Ln−C] bonds are deliberately generated in situ like Imamoto‐type reagents Ln(III)Cl3/RLi (routinely at low temperatures) or "heavy" lanthanide‐Grignard compounds RLnX. Samarium(III)‐alkyl species are supposed intermediates of SmI2‐promoted Barbier‐type carbon–carbon coupling reactions. Alkyl/aryl ligand exchange at Ln(III) centers has been identified as the crucial step of lanthanide–halogen‐exchange reactions. In the meantime, several such mixed alkyl/halogenido complexes, devoid of an ancillary ligand, could be isolated and scrutinized with regard to structure and reactivity. Molecular scaffolds that enable the combinatorial synthesis of new supramolecular building blocks are promising targets for the construction of functional molecular systems. Here, we report a supramolecular scaffold based on boroxine that enables the formation of chiral and ordered 1D supramolecular polymers, which can be easily functionalized for circularly polarized luminescence. The boroxine monomers are quantitatively synthesized in situ, both in bulk and in solution, from boronic acid precursors and cooperatively polymerize into 1D helical aggregates stabilized by threefold hydrogen‐bonding and π–π stacking. We then demonstrate amplification of asymmetry in the co‐assembly of chiral/achiral monomers and the co‐condensation of chiral/achiral precursors in classical and in situ sergeant‐and‐soldiers experiments, respectively, showing fast boronic acid exchange reactions occurring in the system. Remarkably, co‐condensation of pyrene boronic acid with a hydrogen‐bonding chiral boronic acid results in chiral pyrene aggregation with circularly polarized excimer emission and g‐values in the order of 10−3. Yet, the electron deficiency of boron in boroxine makes them chemically addressable by nucleophiles, but also sensitive to hydrolysis. With this sensitivity in mind, we provide first insights into the prospects offered by boroxine‐based supramolecular polymers to make chemically addressable, functional, and adaptive systems. Among mechanically interlocked supramolecular systems with cyclodextrins (CDs), successful examples of CD‐based catenanes are limited compared to a number of CD rotaxanes owing to the synthetic difficulties. We herein demonstrate an efficient synthesis of a CD‐based catenane using a meso‐arylporphyrin (Por) platform. Using Por modified with two olefin‐terminated oxyethylene chains at the cis‐meso‐positions, an interlocked Por‐CD catenane was synthesized via olefin metathesis in the presence of per‐O‐methylated β‐CD (TMe‐β‐CD) in water. The novel Por‐CD catenane was obtained in 30 % isolated yield, which was characterized by MALDI‐TOF mass and NMR spectroscopies. In the latter part, we demonstrate determination of the binding constants between TMe‐β‐CD and meso‐(4‐sulfonatophenyl)porphyrin using Por‐CD catenane, 2,6‐di‐O‐methyl‐β‐CD (DMe‐β‐CD), and 13C‐labeled TMe‐β‐CD (13C‐TMe‐β‐CD). The host‐guest exchange reaction from the Por‐CD catenane/DMe‐β‐CD to the Por‐CD catenane/TMe‐β‐CD complexes was directly monitored through 1D HMQC spectroscopy. The ratio of these complexes revealed the difference in the binding affinities of DMe‐β‐CD and TMe‐β‐CD to Por. The stable 1 : 2 inclusion complex between meso‐tetrakis(4‐sulfonatophenyl)porphyrin (TPPS) and TMe‐β‐CD has been well‐studied for many years. The [(p-cymene)RuCl(κ²C,N-{CNHC-NH})]+X- (CNHC = thiazol-2-ylidene) complexes with a bidentate ligand (2: X = Cl and 3: X = PF6) were prepared by a one-pot reaction of vitamin B1 (VB1, 1), Ag2O and [(pcymene) RuCl2]2. In the complexes, VB1 coordinates through C2 and the exocyclic N in the imino form with the κ²-(C,N) coordination mode. The complexes 2 and 3 are stable in the solid state, but slowly release p-cymene in solution. Furthermore, upon heating in polar solvents, 2 or 3 can be converted by ligand exchange reactions to produce [(L)3RuCl(κ²C,N-{CNHC-NH})]+PF6- (4: L = py). Robustness was improved remarkably for 4. The complex 4 is stable in the solid state and in solution. The complexes 2-4 have been identified by ¹H and 13C{¹H} 2D NMR spectroscopy and 2 and 4 were studied by X-ray crystallography. In an effort to develop a recyclable catalyst in water, 2-4 were evaluated for TH of ketones and aldehydes with an azeotropic mixture of HCOOH/Et3N in water. The complexes 3 and 4 exhibited very good catalytic activity and 4 could be reused nine times without significant loss of activity, giving a high turnover frequency (TOF50%(h-1) = 1286). Nickel carbonite complexes supported by alkaline earth metals have been accessed via salt-metathesis of the corresponding alkali metal precursors. The new complexes undergo Schlenk-like exchange reactions in solution which have been investigated by NMR spectroscopy. Also their reactivity towards epoxides and carbon monoxide was studied. 4D printing has emerged as a powerful strategy capable of revolutionizing additive manufacturing by enabling objects to dynamically transform overtime on demand. Despite significant progress, the full potential remains unrealized, particularly in the utilization of dynamic covalent chemistry. This study introduces a new approach using a multifunctional cross‐linker with alkoxyamine functionalities for 4D printing. Digital light processing (DLP) is employed for high‐resolution printing of complex objects. Leveraging alkoxyamine bonds' dynamic and living characteristics, the printed structures can be further modified through nitroxide‐mediated polymerization (NMP) using styrene and nitroxide exchange reactions (NER). The resulting "living" printed structures exhibit the unique ability to undergo both "growth" and "degrowth", dynamically adapting their size as well as the reduced Young's Modulus across a wide range (770 kPa–1.2 GPa). The chain extension by NMP and softening by NER are carefully characterized by IR and EPR spectroscopy. To facilitate the ongoing transition toward a circular economy, renewable 3D print materials that are both sustainable and competitive must be accessible. However, the growing demand for bio‐based thermosetting resins, which are used as ink for vat photopolymerization, gives rise to environmental concerns in terms of plastic waste management. Therefore, photocurable materials that are renewable and recyclable at the same time are needed. In this work, a mechanically robust and reprocessable 3D printed photopolymer is developed from renewable feedstock. Reaction of malic acid with glycidyl methacrylate introduces both methacrylate moieties that can undergo photopolymerization in the 3D printer, and β‐hydroxyester linkages that can act as dynamic crosslinks via bond exchange reactions. By combining modified malic acid with reactive diluents, a photoinitiator, and phosphate catalyst, three distinct resins are formulated, resulting in bio‐based contents ranging from 43% to 49%. The formulations demonstrate good layer fusion and accurate print quality, while the 3D printed specimens are robust and thermally stable. Notably, the printed object with shortest relaxation time displayed Arrhenius flow behavior with an activation energy of 36.0 kJ mol−1, and its mechanical performance is maintained after being recycled three times. Hybridization of the lunar mantle during the overturn (sinking) of Fe- and Ti–rich ilmenite-bearing clinopyroxenite cumulates (IBC) in the lunar interior is called upon to explain the high TiO2 abundances of lunar basalts. Chemical reactions that occur after juxtaposition of IBC and mantle peridotite are poorly constrained. We experimentally investigated these reactions in experiments that adjoin an IBC glass against presynthesized dunite in a reaction couple at temperatures of 1100–1300 °C and pressures of 0.5–2.02 GPa for 0.33–31.66 h. These conditions produced experiments near to well above the solidus temperature of the IBC. Near solidus experiments produce garnet in the IBC at 2 GPa. Supersolidus experiments exhibit dissolution of olivine material into the IBC melt and the formation of clinopyroxene at the IBC melt-dunite interface. Dunite dissolution is attributed to the olivine undersaturated composition of the IBC melt. In both near- and supersolidus experiments, compositional variations produced by solid-state diffusion across the IBC melt-dunite interface are observed. When pressure increases, temperature decreases, or IBC melts become closer to olivine saturation, dissolution slows, and the effects of solid-state diffusion in the dunite become more evident. Similar chemical exchange reactions would occur in the lunar mantle as downwelling IBC and lunar peridotites are juxtaposed by cumulate overturn. Hybridized lunar mantle sources are expected to contain 47–84% normative peridotite and 16–53% IBC. Simple numerical simulations suggest that in addition to dissolution–precipitation reactions, mechanical mixing may be required to produce volumetrically significant hybridized mantle sources over geologically-relevant timescales. The reaction mechanism and kinetics of oxygen isotope exchange between tens of nanometer-sized amorphous silicate grains with forsterite composition (amorphous forsterite) and low-pressure carbon monoxide (CO) gas (P CO) of 0.05–1 Pa at 643–883 K were examined to investigate oxygen isotopic evolution in the protosolar disk that led to the mass-independent oxygen isotopic variation of planetary materials. Both CO gas supply- and diffusion-controlled isotope exchange reactions were observed. At 753–883 K and P CO of 0.05–1 Pa, the supply of CO gas controls the isotope exchange reaction, and its rate is 2–3 orders of magnitude smaller than that of the H 2 O supply-controlled isotope exchange reaction. The diffusion-controlled isotope exchange occurred at 643–703 K and P CO of 0.3 Pa, and the reaction rate of D (m2/s) = (3.1 ± 2.3) × 10−23 exp[−41.7 ± 9.6 (kJ mol−1) R −1 (1/ T − 1/1200)] was obtained. We found that the oxygen isotope exchange rates of amorphous forsterite with CO and H 2 O gases are larger than those of gaseous isotope exchange between CO and H 2 O gases at a wide range of temperatures, wherein amorphous forsterite crystallization does not precede the isotope exchange reaction of amorphous forsterite with these gases. The most sluggish isotope exchange rate between H 2 O and CO in the gas phase suggests that amorphous forsterite would play a role in accelerating gaseous isotopic equilibrium through the isotope exchange of amorphous forsterite with both CO and H 2 O. We found that the oxygen isotopic equilibrium between 0.1 μm-sized amorphous forsterite, CO, and H 2 O would be accomplished through the isotope exchange of amorphous forsterite at temperatures as low as ∼600–700 K in the dynamically accreting protosolar disk, which is significantly lower than expected for the case of gaseous isotope exchange (>∼800 K). Diurnal and seasonal temperature variations cause uniform temperature changes, vertical temperature gradients, and horizontal temperature gradients. Vertical temperature gradients occur when the bridge deck absorbs heat due to solar radiation more than the bottom parts of bridge girders. Consequently, the vertical temperature gradient causes redistribution of bearing reactions, and induces additional flexural stresses in continuous spans. Estimating the vertical temperature gradient effect on continuous concrete bridges requires knowledge of thermal analysis of statically indeterminate structures or advanced three-dimensional (3 D) finite element (FE) analysis. Therefore, this article focuses on developing a simplified analysis method for estimating vertical temperature variations effects on continuous prestressed concrete bridge girders, which is required for bridge design. Restraint moments induced by vertical temperature gradients are investigated using 3 D FE analysis. A total of 115 bridges with different configurations (number of spans, girder spacing, and girder type) were analyzed to estimate the positive thermal moments at support locations. Results from these analyses were then used to develop simplified equations for estimating the positive restraint moments due to vertical temperature gradients from AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications (BDS). The yeast SWR1C chromatin remodeling enzyme catalyzes the ATP-dependent exchange of nucleosomal histone H2A for the histone variant H2A.Z, a key variant involved in a multitude of nuclear functions. How the 14-subunit SWR1C engages the nucleosomal substrate remains largely unknown. Studies on the ISWI, CHD1, and SWI/SNF families of chromatin remodeling enzymes have demonstrated key roles for the nucleosomal acidic patch for remodeling activity, however a role for this nucleosomal epitope in nucleosome editing by SWR1C has not been tested. Here, we employ a variety of biochemical assays to demonstrate an essential role for the acidic patch in the H2A.Z exchange reaction. Utilizing asymmetrically assembled nucleosomes, we demonstrate that the acidic patches on each face of the nucleosome are required for SWR1Cmediated dimer exchange, suggesting SWR1C engages the nucleosome in a ‘pincer-like’ conformation, engaging both patches simultaneously. Loss of a single acidic patch results in loss of high affinity nucleosome binding and nucleosomal stimulation of ATPase activity. We identify a conserved arginine-rich motif within the Swc5 subunit that binds the acidic patch and is key for dimer exchange activity. In addition, our cryoEM structure of a Swc5–nucleosome complex suggests that promoter proximal, histone H2B ubiquitylation may regulate H2A.Z deposition. During D-T fusion operations the capture, purification, and recycling of unburned tritium will be crucial, as the formation of tritium containing molecules require additional processing. Removing the tritium can require costly processing to be unbound from the tritium-containing molecules and improvements to these processes will be necessary moving forward. Existing techniques using sorbent material beds to remove tritium-containing molecules from process gas streams undergo repeated high-heat cycling which leads to diminished bed lifespans, necessitating replacement and associated downtime. This work demonstrates the capture and isotopic exchange technique of deuterated ammonia (ND 3), used as a surrogate for tritium, at ambient temperature using a Pt catalyst-loaded 13X molecular sieve. Unmodified 13X molecular sieve is capable of adsorbing and retaining the ND 3 however, incorporation of a catalyst facilitates the isotopic exchange of the hydrogen isotopes. The effluent gas streams were analyzed in conjunction with desorbed ammonia isotopologues post-exchange to verify these results. The development of a new generation of anticorrosion pigments for paints remains an important challenge to replace the usual sparingly-soluble pigments and thus avoid the dissemination of heavy metals in the environment and the formation of holes in polymer coatings. For this purpose, α-zirconium hydrogenophosphate (Zr(HPO4)2·H2O, denoted as α-ZrP) was intercalated with the corrosion inhibitor 2-aminobenzimidazole (ABIM). Various microstructural analyses have proven the insertion of ABIM in the interlayer space by an acid–base exchange reaction and allowed us to propose a structural model for the new ABIM-ZrP pigment. The anticorrosion properties on zinc of the ABIM-ZrP, characterized by electrochemical measurements in 0.1 M NaCl, are due to the release of ABIM molecules by an ion-exchange reaction and the pH-buffer effect of α-ZrP and the amine group of ABIM. Compared to the commercial aluminium tri-phosphate (ATP) pigment, an alkyd-polymer coating loaded with the ABIM-ZrP pigment shows very interesting electrochemical behaviour by avoiding the blistering of the polymer coating and the beginning of zinc corrosion. This effect may be due to both the tortuous effect brought by the platelet shape of the pigments and the release of ABIM once the water uptake of the polymer becomes significant. Hexadentate poly-Lewis acids (PLA) based on the bowl-shaped tribenzotriquinacene (TBTQ) have been synthesised. The introduction of three n-propyl groups into the benzhydrylic positions of the TBTQ backbone has significantly increased the solubility of the subsequently derived compounds. Semi-flexible PLAs containing boron and aluminium were obtained by hydrometallation of the corresponding 2,3,6,7,10,11-hexaalkynyl-TBTQ. Other rigid hexadentate PLAs were synthesised by stannylation of the corresponding alkyne units with Me3SnNMe2 followed by tin-element exchange reactions. The Lewis acidity of these PLAs was investigated in host–guest experiments with pyridine. Further experiments with bidentate bases showed correlations between their flexibility, their Lewis basicity and the complexation behaviour towards the synthesised PLAs. Addition of bis((dimethylphosphino)methyl)dimethylsilane (BisPhos) to solutions of the rigid alkynyl PLAs led to the formation of 3 : 1 adducts. Single crystal X-ray diffraction was used to further elucidate the host–guest connectivtiy. In addition, a sixfold pnictogen-bonding donor was synthesised by tin-antimony exchange. Covalent adaptable networks and vitrimers are novel polymers with dynamic reversible bond exchange reactions for crosslinks, enabling them to modulate their properties between those of thermoplastics and thermosets. They have been gathering interest as materials for their recycling and self-healing properties. In this review, we discuss different molecular simulation efforts that have been used over the last decade to investigate and understand the nanoscale and molecular behaviors of covalent adaptable networks and vitrimers. In particular, molecular dynamics, Monte Carlo, and a hybrid of molecular dynamics and Monte Carlo approaches have been used to model the dynamic bond exchange reaction, which is the main mechanism of interest since it controls both the mechanical and rheological behaviors. The molecular simulation techniques presented yield sufficient results to investigate the structure and dynamics as well as the mechanical and rheological responses of such dynamic networks. The benefits of each method have been highlighted. The use of other tools such as theoretical models and machine learning has been included. We noticed, amongst the most prominent results, that stress relaxes as the bond exchange reaction happens, and that at temperatures higher than the glass transition temperature, the self-healing properties are better since more bond BERs are observed. The lifetime of dynamic covalent crosslinks follows, at moderate to high temperatures, an Arrhenius-like temperature dependence. We note the modeling of certain properties like the melt viscosity with glass transition temperature and the topology freezing transition temperature according to a behavior ruled by either the Williams–Landel–Ferry equation or the Arrhenius equation. Discrepancies between the behavior in dissociative and associative covalent adaptable networks are discussed. Comprehensive Summary: The deuteration of organic compounds has attracted more attentions in recent years for the potential applications in new drug discovery and synthetic chemistry. For this purpose, many efficient deuterium labeling methodologies have been developed, including hydrogen isotope exchange (HIE), reductive deuteration, and dehalogenative deuteration that allow for the synthesis of selectively deuterated compounds. In the last few years, great breakthroughs in selective isotope labeling have been achieved and the interest in new methodologies for the deuteration of organic molecules is rising. In this review, we summarized the recent developments in the selective deuteration of organic molecules since 2021. Several types of key processes in deuterium incorporation reactions, including H/D exchange, reductive deuteration and dehalogenative deuteration, are introduced and discussed. Key Scientists: In the 2000s, Derdau and Atzrodt's group have made great contributions to the directing group assisted noble‐metal catalyzed hydrogen isotope exchange of arenes and applications of labeled compounds. During the same period, Sajiki and co‐workers completed a series of deuteration reactions by heterogeneous platinum‐group metal catalysts. Since 2015, Gregory Pieters and co‐workers have developed ruthenium catalysts for selective hydrogen isotope exchange. In 2016, Chirik's group achieved hydrogen isotope exchange in the presence of a homogeneous iron complex. David MacMillan and coworkers have made breakthroughs in photocatalyzed HIE reactions for α‐amino C(sp3)–H bonds. From 2020, a series of nanoelectrodes were designed for selective dehalogenative deuterations and reductive deuteration of unactivated unsaturated bonds by Zhang's group. Recently, Beller's group developed several efficient strategies for isotopic labeling using heterogeneous earth‐abundant catalysts. Cumulenes and heterocumulenes with three or more cumulative multiple bonds are usually reactive species that serve as valuable building blocks for more complex molecules but tend to isomerize or cyclize and therefore are difficult to isolate. Using a mild ligand exchange reaction at the carbon in α‐metalated ylides, we have now succeeded in the synthesis and gram‐scale isolation of the elusive cyanoketenyl anion [NC3O]−. The conversion of methane under ambient conditions has attracted significant attention. Although advancements have been made using active oxygen species from photo‐ and electro‐ chemical processes, challenges such as complex catalyst design, costly oxidants, and unwanted byproducts remain. This study exploits the concept of contact‐electro‐catalysis, initiating chemical reactions through charge exchange at a solid–liquid interface, to report a novel process for directly converting methane under ambient conditions. Utilizing the electrification of commercially available Fluorinated Ethylene Propylene (FEP) with water under ultrasound, we demonstrate how this interaction promote the activation of methane and oxygen molecules. Our results show that the yield of HCHO and CH3OH can reach 467.5 and 151.2 μmol ⋅ gcat−1, respectively. We utilized electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) to confirm the evolution of hydroxyl radicals (⋅OH) and superoxide radicals (⋅OOH). Isotope mass spectrometry (MS) was employed to analyze the elemental origin of CH3OH, which can be further oxidized to HCHO. Additionally, we conducted density functional theory (DFT) simulations to assess the reaction energies of FEP with H2O, O2, and CH4 under these conditions. Vitrimers represent an emerging class of polymeric materials that combine the desirable characteristics of both thermoplastics and thermosets achieved through the design of dynamic covalent bonds within the polymer networks. However, these materials are prone to creep due to the inherent instability of dynamic covalent bonds. Consequently, there are pressing demands for the development of robust and stable dynamic covalent chemistries. Here, we report a catalyst‐free α‐acetyl cinnamate/acetoacetate (α‐AC/A) exchange reaction to develop vitrimers with remarkable creep resistance. Small‐molecule model studies revealed that the α‐AC/A exchange occurred at temperatures above 140 °C in bulk, whereas at 120 °C, this reaction was absent. For demonstration in the case of polymers, copolymers derived from common vinyl monomers were crosslinked with terephthalaldehyde to produce α‐AC/A vitrimers with tunable thermal and mechanical performance. All resulting α‐AC/A vitrimers exhibited high stability, especially in terms of creep resistance at 120 °C, while retaining commendable reprocessability when subjected to high temperatures. Highlights: In this work, graphene nanoplates (GNPs) with a supreme medium were obtained. Pt particles (4.50 nm) were uniformly dispersed on the surface of S-ZrO2-GNP support. The Pt-Pd/S-ZrO2-GNPs exhibited higher ECSA than Pt-Pd/ZrO2-GNPs and Pt/C. Pt-Pd/S-ZrO2-GNPs exhibited higher ORR mass activity than other studied electrodes. Pt-Pd/S-ZrO2-GNPs exhibited low charge transfer resistance in EIS measurements. Developing highly active and durable Pt-based electrocatalysts is crucial for polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells. This study focuses on the performance of oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) electrocatalysts composed of Pt-Pd alloy nanoparticles on graphene nanoplates (GNPs) anchored with sulfated zirconia nanoparticles. The results of field emission scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy showed that Pt-Pd and S-ZrO2 are well dispersed on the surface of the GNPs. X-ray diffraction revealed that the S-ZrO2 and Pt-Pd alloy coexist in the Pt-Pd/S-ZrO2-GNP nanocomposites without affecting the crystalline lattice of Pt and the graphitic structure of the GNPs. To evaluate the electrochemical activity and reaction kinetics for ORR, we performed cyclic voltammetry, rotating disc electrode, and EIS experiments in acidic solutions at room temperature. The findings showed that Pt-Pd/S-ZrO2-GNPs exhibited a better ORR performance than the Pt-Pd catalyst on the unsulfated ZrO2-GNP support and with Pt on S-ZrO2-GNPs and commercial Pt/C. The theory of heavy ion double charge exchange (DCE) reactions proceeding by effective rank-2 isotensor interactions is presented. Virtual pion–nucleon charge exchange interactions are investigated as the source for induced isotensor interactions, giving rise to the Majorana DCE (MDCE) reaction mechanism. MDCE is of a generic character, proceeding through pairs of complementary ( π ± , π ∓ ) reactions in the projectile and target nucleus. The dynamics of the elementary processes is discussed, where the excitation of pion–nucleon resonances are of central importance. Investigations of initial and final state ion–ion interactions show that these effects are acting as vertex renormalizations. In closure approximation, well justified by the finite pion mass, the second-order transition matrix elements reduce to pion potentials and effective two-body isotensor DCE interactions, giving rise also to two-body correlations in either of the participating nuclei. Connections to neutrinoless Majorana double beta decay (MDBD) are elucidated at various levels of the dynamics, from the underlying fundamental electro-weak and QCD scales to the physical scales of nuclear MDBD and MDCE physics. It is pointed out that heavy ion MDCE reactions may also proceed by competing electro-weak charge exchange processes, leading to lepton MDCE by electrons, positrons, and neutrinos. Nonequilibrium flows of air components behind reflected shock waves are systematically studied on the basis of several theoretical models for the rate coefficients of fully coupled vibrational energy exchanges and chemical reactions. Numerical simulations are performed in the frame of the state-to-state approach under initial conditions corresponding to recent shock-tube experiments in mixtures O 2 /Ar, NO/Ar, NO/N 2 /Ar. The model takes into account partial vibrational relaxation between the incident and reflected shock waves, state-resolved dissociation, recombination, exchange reactions with formation of NO in the vibrationally excited states, as well as vibrational–vibrational and vibrational–translational energy transitions. It is shown that for oxygen, relaxation between the incident and reflected shocks is not frozen, and taking it into account in the most test cases considerably improves the agreement of calculated and experimentally measured pressure. For NO-containing mixtures, the effect of intermediate relaxation is weaker. Average deviation of the number density of molecular species with respect to the experimental one is analyzed for several hundreds of numerical simulations; on the basis of these estimates, recommendations are given for the best choice of model parameters. We devised a novel strategy that relies on a combination of the primer exchange reaction (PER) with transcription isothermal amplification, termed PER-Trap, for a sensitive biomolecular assay. Its design allowed light-up RNA aptamers to be produced as the final product, leading to the generation of an amplified fluorescence signal. The human Vitamin K Epoxide Reductase Complex (hVKORC1), a key enzyme that converts vitamin K into the form necessary for blood clotting, requires for its activation the reducing equivalents supplied by its redox partner through thiol–disulphide exchange reactions. The functionally related molecular complexes assembled during this process have never been described, except for a proposed de novo model of a 'precursor' complex of hVKORC1 associated with protein disulphide isomerase (PDI). Using numerical approaches (in silico modelling and molecular dynamics simulation), we generated alternative 3D models for each molecular complex bonded either covalently or non-covalently. These models differ in the orientation of the PDI relative to hVKORC1 and in the cysteine residue involved in forming protein–protein disulphide bonds. Based on a comparative analysis of these models' shape, folding, and conformational dynamics, the most probable putative complexes, mimicking the 'precursor', 'intermediate', and 'successor' states, were suggested. Several strategies are available to design well‐defined multimetallic molecular entities bearing functional ligands. Substoichiometric exchange reactions in the coordination sphere of pre‐existing multinuclear precursors are relatively underexploited in this context. Palladium(II) acetate is not a mononuclear compound in the solid state but rather exists as a trimer, i. e. [Pd3(OAc)6]. Although this material is ubiquitously used to synthesize mononuclear Pd species, it may principally also lend itself to selective exchange of some of the edge‐sharing acetate units in its triangular motif, whilst keeping the overall multinuclear architecture intact. Strikingly, little is known about the controlled manipulation and substoichiometric substitution chemistry of this well‐defined conglomerate. We herein conclusively demonstrate that, for the first time, the targeted exchange of two or four acetate units from the Pd3(acetate)6 platform is possible, thereby installing either one or two new tridentate ligands onto this trinuclear architecture. Follow‐up exchange and substitution chemistry is available without disrupting the multimetallic nature of the core structure. How Nature synthesizes enantiomerically pure substances from achiral or racemic resources remains a mystery. In this study, we aimed to emulate this natural phenomenon by constructing chiral tetrahedral cages through self‐assembly, achieved by condensing two achiral compounds–a trisamine and a trisaldehyde. The occurrence of intercomponent CH⋅⋅⋅π interactions among the phenyl building blocks within the cage frameworks results in twisted conformations, imparting planar chirality to the tetrahedrons. In instances where the trisaldehyde precursor features electron‐withdrawing ester side chains, we observed that the intermolecular CH⋅⋅⋅π forces are strong enough to prevent racemization. To attain enantioselective self‐assembly, a chiral amine was introduced during the imine formation process. The addition of three equivalents of chiral amino mediator to one equivalent of the achiral trisaldehyde precursor formed a trisimino intermediate. This chiral compound was subsequently combined with the achiral trisamino precursor, leading to an imine exchange reaction that releasing the chiral amino mediator and formation of the tetrahedral cage with an enantiomeric excess (ee) of up to 75 %, exclusively composed of achiral building blocks. This experimental observation aligns with theoretical calculations based on the free energies of related cage structures. Ochratoxin A (OTA) is a fungus-produced secondary metabolite, which causes food safety issues and exposures to health threats to humans. In this study, an electrochemical biosensor based on target-initiated detection was constructed to accurately and efficiently detect OTA. After the identification and specific hybridization of OTA and its aptamer, the primer exchange reaction (PER) was initiated to generate vast quantities of DNAzymes. The DNAzymes specifically cleave the hairpin modified with silver nanoclusters (AgNCs), allowing the released DNA–AgNC strands to attach to capture DNA probes (cDNA) on the electrode surface with detectable electrochemical signal transforms. The detection of this electrochemical biosensor can only be initiated after OTA is identified with the aptamer, which guarantees that the reaction products in the detection process can only be specifically generated, providing assurance for the ultimate generation of authentic and dependable detection results. The biosensor has the advantages of effortless operation, rapid reaction, and cost-effectiveness, and the OTA targets can be detected by this strategy up to 0.65 ng mL−1. Furthermore, the detection of diverse targets can be accomplished by simply replacing the aptamer, offering huge possibilities in the field of food security and environmental detection. How Nature synthesizes enantiomerically pure substances from achiral or racemic resources remains a mystery. In this study, we aimed to emulate this natural phenomenon by constructing chiral tetrahedral cages through self‐assembly, achieved by condensing two achiral compounds–a trisamine and a trisaldehyde. The occurrence of intercomponent CH⋅⋅⋅π interactions among the phenyl building blocks within the cage frameworks results in twisted conformations, imparting planar chirality to the tetrahedrons. In instances where the trisaldehyde precursor features electron‐withdrawing ester side chains, we observed that the intermolecular CH⋅⋅⋅π forces are strong enough to prevent racemization. To attain enantioselective self‐assembly, a chiral amine was introduced during the imine formation process. The addition of three equivalents of chiral amino mediator to one equivalent of the achiral trisaldehyde precursor formed a trisimino intermediate. This chiral compound was subsequently combined with the achiral trisamino precursor, leading to an imine exchange reaction that releasing the chiral amino mediator and formation of the tetrahedral cage with an enantiomeric excess (ee) of up to 75 %, exclusively composed of achiral building blocks. This experimental observation aligns with theoretical calculations based on the free energies of related cage structures. Triple oxygen isotope (Δ′17O) analysis of CO 2 or carbonate is increasingly applied in diverse fields in earth and environmental sciences. One of the widely-used analytical methods for Δ′17O of CO 2 is through Pt-catalyzed oxygen isotope exchange between CO 2 and O 2. However, large inter-laboratory inconsistencies in oxygen isotope fractionation between the two gases have been reported, potentially hindering data comparison across different laboratories. By examining the oxygen isotope fractionations in thermal diffusion experiments for pure O 2 and CO 2 gases as well as CO 2 -O 2 mixtures, we demonstrate that thermal-gradient-induced (TG-induced) isotope fractionation is the main reason for the inconsistencies. The degree of TG-induced oxygen isotope fractionation is affected by temperature contrasts and volume ratios between the hot and cold parts of the extraction line as well as gas composition. Larger thermal contrasts generated larger oxygen isotope fractionations. CO 2 fractionated less than O 2 in the same thermal gradient conditions. For CO 2 -O 2 mixtures, TG-induced oxygen isotope fractionation of O 2 was reduced while that of CO 2 was enhanced, compared with the pure gases. Based on the results of thermal diffusion experiments, we found that the anomalous mass fractionation exponents (0.2 ∼ 0.9) observed in the Pt-catalyzed CO 2 -O 2 isotope exchange experiments can be rationalized quantitatively by a combination of isotopic exchange equilibrium and TG-induced oxygen isotope fractionation. Our model suggests that by weakening TG-induced oxygen isotope fractionation and by increasing the volume fraction of hot zone of a reactor, we can achieve a high precision (<10 per meg) for Δ′17O CO2 through CO 2 -O 2 exchange. Considering the widely existing thermal-gradient conditions in nature, the findings in this study may shed light on the origin of non-mass-dependent isotope fractionation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Linear dichroism spectroscopy is used to investigate the structure of RecA family recombinase filaments (RecA and Rad51 proteins) with DNA for clarifying the molecular mechanism of DNA strand exchange promoted by these proteins and its activation. The measurements show that the recombinases promote the perpendicular base orientation of single‐stranded DNA only in the presence of activators, indicating the importance of base orientation in the reaction.
