Nanolasers based on emerging dielectric cavities with deep sub‐wavelength confinement of light offer a large light‐matter coupling rate and near‐unity spontaneous emission factor, β$\beta$. These features call for reconsidering the standard approach to identifying the lasing threshold. Here, a new threshold definition is suggested, taking into account the recycling process of photons when β$\beta$ is large. This threshold reduces to the classical balance between gain and loss in the limit of macroscopic lasers, but qualitative as well as quantitative differences emerge for nanolasers. In particular, this new threshold identifies the onset of a transition regime, where the quantum statistics of the emitted light evolve into the Poissonian statistics of a coherent state. It is shown that the threshold with photon recycling consistently marks the onset of the change in the second‐order intensity correlation, g(2)(0)$g^{(2)}(0)$, toward coherent laser light, irrespective of the laser size and down to the case of a single emitter. In contrast, other threshold definitions may well predict lasing in light‐emitting diodes. The three-component reaction of a diazo compound, azide and allylboronate was explored, and Rh2(esp)2 was utilized as the optimal catalyst. A series of α-amino esters were efficiently produced from the ethyl diazoacetate in 57–84% yields, and excellent diastereoselectivities were observed with the reaction employing (E)-allylboronate as the alkylation reagent. Research into mRNA vaccines is advancing rapidly, with proven efficacy against coronavirus disease 2019 and promising therapeutic potential against a variety of solid tumors. Adjuvants, critical components of mRNA vaccines, significantly enhance vaccine effectiveness and are integral to numerous mRNA vaccine formulations. However, the development and selection of adjuvant platforms are still in their nascent stages, and the mechanisms of many adjuvants remain poorly understood. Additionally, the immunostimulatory capabilities of certain novel drug delivery systems (DDS) challenge the traditional definition of adjuvants, suggesting that a revision of this concept is necessary. This review offers a comprehensive exploration of the mechanisms and applications of adjuvants and self-adjuvant DDS. It thoroughly addresses existing issues mentioned above and details three main challenges of immune-related adverse event, unclear mechanisms, and unsatisfactory outcomes in old age group in the design and practical application of cancer mRNA vaccine adjuvants. Ultimately, this review proposes three optimization strategies which consists of exploring the mechanisms of adjuvant, optimizing DDS, and improving route of administration to improve effectiveness and application of adjuvants and self-adjuvant DDS. Social anxiety is a common symptom that occurs after exposure to childhood trauma (CT), and pain tolerance is a protective factor against social anxiety in generic populations with CT. However, few studies have investigated whether and how this association varies across different CT subgroups. Thus, this study aimed to investigate (1) the effects of pain tolerance on social anxiety symptoms among youth with different subgroups of CT; (2) the nonlinear relationship between pain tolerance and social anxiety symptoms among different CT categories. In this study, 15,682 college or university students with experiences of CT were identified in a large sample and divided into five CT subgroups. Linear and quadratic regression models were conducted to explore the association between pain tolerance and social anxiety symptoms among youth with different CT subgroups. The results of model revealed a linear relationship between pain tolerance and social anxiety symptoms among youth with most CT subgroups. Notably, an inverted U-shaped curve was found between pain tolerance and social anxiety symptoms in youth with emotional abuse. Social anxiety symptoms increased gradually with pain tolerance scores between 0 and 16, and then sharply decreased when scores reached above 16. Limited by self-report measurements, the results of this study focused only on perceived pain tolerance and ignored behavioral pain tolerance. Pentavalent uranium compounds are key components of uranium‘s redox chemistry and play important roles in environmental transport. Despite this, well‐characterized U(V) compounds are scarce primarily because of their instability with respect to disproportionation to U(IV) and U(VI). In this work, we provide an alternate route to incorporation of U(V) into a crystalline lattice where different oxidation states of uranium can be stabilized through the incorporation of secondary cations with different sizes and charges. We show that iriginite‐based crystalline layers allow for systematically replacing U(VI) with U(V) through aliovalent substitution of 2+ alkaline‐earth or 3+ rare‐earth cations as dopant ions under high‐temperature conditions, specifically Ca(UVIO2)W4O14 and Ln(UVO2)W4O14 (Ln=Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, Yb). Evidence for the existence of U(V) and U(VI) is supported by single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction, high energy resolution X‐ray absorption near edge structure, X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and optical absorption spectroscopy. In contrast with other reported U(V) materials, the U(V) single crystals obtained using this route are relatively large (several centimeters) and easily reproducible, and thus provide a substantial improvement in the facile synthesis and stabilization of U(V). In the built heritage studies, the intricate web of social and selective processes that define heritage is evident. These processes are, in many cases, intertwined with the notion of scale, examplified through the production of heritage sites at the local, national, and transnational scales. While heritage and geography scholars have articulated the role played by scale in heritage-making and argue against a rigid, fixed, and hierarchical understanding of scale, they highlight the constant reproduction of scale. There is, so far, limited explanation of how the perception of scale gets reproduced and how crucial actors manipulate scalar power and resources for heritage making and the reproduction of scale. To fill this gap, this paper delves into mainland China's heritage-making, using the southern Anhui historical villages as an example. Based on intensive 5-month field research, this paper has three findings: 1) The nomination process for a World Heritage Site is notably influenced by politics and selectivity; 2) Diverse stakeholders are pivotal in shaping heritage narratives; 3) Individual contributions to heritage creation directly interact with, and subsequently reshape, 'scale', an entity that is simultaneously discursive and tangible. By integrating the notion of 'scale' into heritage discussions, we illuminate two concurrent processes: creating hierarchies through rule assimilation by interpreting the UNESCO standard internally and evolving socio-spatial dynamics via the manifestation of individual agency with resource manipulation, scale jumping, and reproduction of scale. This approach aligns with the material orientation in human geography and repositions 'scale'. SUMMARY: Thermosensitive genic female sterility (TGFS) is a promising property to be utilized for hybrid breeding. Here, we identified a rice TGFS line, tfs2, through an ethyl methyl sulfone (EMS) mutagenesis strategy. This line showed sterility under high temperature and became fertile under low temperature. Few seeds were produced when the tfs2 stigma was pollinated, indicating that tfs2 is female sterile. Gene cloning and genetic complementation showed that a point mutation from leucine to phenylalanine in HEI10 (HEI10tfs2), a crossover formation protein, caused the TGFS trait of tfs2. Under high temperature, abnormal univalents were formed, and the chromosomes were unequally segregated during meiosis, similar to the reported meiotic defects in oshei10. Under low temperature, the number of univalents was largely reduced, and the chromosomes segregated equally, suggesting that crossover formation was restored in tfs2. Yeast two‐hybrid assays showed that HEI10 interacted with two putative protein degradation‐related proteins, RPT4 and SRFP1. Through transient expression in tobacco leaves, HEI10 were found to spontaneously aggregate into dot‐like foci in the nucleus under high temperature, but HEI10tfs2 failed to aggregate. In contrast, low temperature promoted HEI10tfs2 aggregation. This result suggests that protein aggregation at the crossover position contributes to the fertility restoration of tfs2 under low temperature. In addition, RPT4 and SRFP1 also aggregated into dot‐like foci, and these aggregations depend on the presence of HEI10. These findings reveal a novel mechanism of fertility restoration and facilitate further understanding of HEI10 in meiotic crossover formation. Significance Statement: Our study promotes the understanding of HEI10/TFS2 for meiotic crossover formation and provides a mechanism for the female fertility restoration of TGFS lines under low temperature. Introduction: Various surgical techniques have been proposed to manage acetabular fractures involving both columns with posterior wall displacement. However, the optimal surgical approach to achieve satisfactory reduction quality remains controversial. Materials and methods: This retrospective study evaluated 34 patients with fractures who were treated at a single medical institution. The patients were divided into two groups according to the ventral/dorsal surgical approach employed: simultaneous (SI) and sequential (SE). Perioperative parameters, as well as radiological and functional outcomes, were analyzed and compared between the two groups. Results: The SI and SE groups comprised 9 and 23 out of the 34 patients, respectively. The SI group exhibited a significantly shorter surgical time and lower estimated blood loss than the SE group (p = 0.04 and 0.03, respectively). The quality of reductions of the anterior and posterior columns was similar between the two groups; however, superior reduction in the fracture gap of the posterior wall was observed in the SI group, as revealed by axial and coronal computed tomography scans. Conclusions: A simultaneous ventral and dorsal approach through the pararectus and the modified Gibson approach confer clinical advantages in reducing the fracture gap, surgical time, and intraoperative blood loss when managing acetabular fractures involving both columns and a displaced posterior wall. To meet the environmental protection and flame retardancy requirements for epoxy resins (EPs) in certain fields, in this study, a novel triazine-ring-containing DOPO-derived compound (VDPD), derived from vanillin, 2,4-Diamino-6-phenyl-1,3,5-triazine, and 9,10-dihydro-9-oxa-10-phosphaphenanthrene-10-oxide (DOPO), was synthesized using a one-pot method. Flame-retardant epoxy resin (FREP) was prepared by adding various ratios of VDPD to EP and curing with 4,4-diaminodiphenylmethane (DDM). The curing behavior, thermal stability, mechanical properties, and flame-retardant properties of the FREP were examined in various tests. According to the results, when the amount of VDPD added to the EP increased, the glass transition temperature of the FREP decreased linearly, and the flame-retardant properties gradually improved. With a 0.4 wt.% P content, the vertical burning rating of EP/DDM/VDPD-0.4 (according to the theoretical content of VDPD) reached the V-0 level, and the LOI value reached 33.1%. In addition, the results of a CCT showed that the peak heat release rate (PHRR) of EP/DDM/VDPD-0.4 decreased by 32% in comparison with that of the EP. Furthermore, compared with those of the EP, the tensile strength of EP/DDM/VDPD-0.4 decreased from 80.2 MPa to 74.3 MPa, only decreasing by 6 MPa, and the tensile modulus increased. Background: Ubiquitination is a critical post-translational modification which can be reversed with an enzyme family known as deubiquitinating enzymes (DUBs). It has been reported that dysregulation of deubiquitination leads to carcinogenesis. As a member of the DUBs family, proteasome 26 S subunit non-ATPase 7 (PSMD7) serves as an underlying tumour-promoting factor in multiple cancers. However, the clinical significance and biological functions of PSMD7 in pancreatic cancer (PC) remain unclear. Results: In this study, we first reported frequent overexpression of PSMD7 in PC tissues, and high levels of PSMD7 were markedly linked to shorter survival and a malignant phenotype in PC patients. An array of in vitro and in vivo gain/loss-of-function tests revealed that PSMD7 facilitates the progression of PC cells. Additionally, we found that PSMD7 promotes PC cell progression by activating the Notch homolog 1 (Notch1) signalling. Interestingly, in PC cells, the inhibitory effect of PSMD7 knockdown on cellular processes was comparable to that observed upon Notch1 knockdown. Mechanistically, PSMD7 deubiquitinated and stabilised sex determining region Y (SRY)-box 2 (SOX2), a key mediator of Notch1 signalling. The stabilisation of SOX2, mediated by PSMD7, dramatically increased SOX2 protein levels, subsequently activating the Notch1 pathway. Finally, restoration of SOX2 expression abrogated the PSMD7-silenced antitumour effect. Conclusions: Taken together, our work identifies and validates PSMD7 as a promoter of PC progression through augmentation of the Notch1 signalling pathway mediated by SOX2. Melody-conditioned lyrics generation aims to create novel lyrics based on the melodies by learning the relationship between lyrics and melodies, which is an attractive topic in the music field. However, two serious issues, called deficiency of inter-dependency between melody attributes and text degeneration, degrade the quality of the lyrics generation. To solve these issues, this paper proposes a new model called semantic dependency network with two key components: (i) N-gram CNN block is used to compress the information from the single melody attribute and extract the inter-dependency from the multiple melody attributes. (ii) In lyrics, unlikelihood training is exploited to mitigate the syllables mismatching and logic missing and keep the intra-syllable integrity and logic by learning semantic dependency. Extensive evaluation experiments on a large-scale dataset demonstrate that our model can generate higher quality and more harmonic lyrics from the melodies compared with the state-of-the-art methods. In this paper, we explore what the travel restrictions during the COVID-19 pandemic reveal about the changing geographies of mobilities and the making of homo sacer, the latter constituted through differentiated control of mobilities. Implemented to protect U.S. public health, travel restrictions imposed on travelers from Mainland China during the early days of the pandemic exemplify how sovereign power that declares a state of emergency and creates bare life can be readily applied to groups of people who previously had privileged access to global mobility. In this sense, bare life does not refer to fixed and disadvantaged social categories but is rather contingently and contextually constituted, through the works of hybrid sovereign regimes. At the same time, however, these travelers are not reduced to a state of zero-agency but reside within a liminal space between soft and hard cosmopolitanisms, as they can still deploy agency and cosmopolitan capital to achieve certain degrees of mobility. By examining how Chinese travelers navigated various travel restrictions and the constantly changing policies to travel to the U.S., this paper explores new spaces of exception and forms of bare life, and argues that homo sacer is dynamically, relationally and recursively constructed, both through apparatus of control and the agency of travelers. Single‐cell analysis enables the measurement of biomolecules at the level of individual cells, facilitating in‐depth investigations into cellular heterogeneity and precise interpretation of the related biological mechanisms. Among these biomolecules, cellular metabolites exhibit remarkable sensitivity to environmental and biochemical changes, unveiling a hidden world underlying cellular heterogeneity and allowing for the determination of cell physiological states. However, the metabolic analysis of single cells is challenging due to the extremely low concentrations, substantial content variations, and rapid turnover rates of cellular metabolites. Mass spectrometry (MS), characterized by its high sensitivity, wide dynamic range, and excellent selectivity, is employed in single‐cell metabolic analysis. This review focuses on recent advances and applications of MS‐based single‐cell metabolic analysis, encompassing three key steps of single‐cell isolation, detection, and application. Global warming may increase potential evapotranspiration (ETp), reducing the water resources in Yangzi River Delta. Therefore, it is important to investigate the trend of ETp there under the background of climate change. To this purpose, the systematic biases in temperature outputs of 24 global climate models (GCMs) under 3 shared socioeconomic pathways—representative concentration pathways (SSPs) emission scenarios (SSP1-2.6, SSP2-4.5, and SSP5-8.5)—are first corrected by using 8 bias correction methods. Then, the trend of ETp in Yangtze River Delta is projected by using 4 ETp calculation formulas (Blaney–Criddle, Hargreaves–Samani, Makkink, and Priestley–Taylor). The uncertainty of the projections is estimated and decomposed by using multi-way analysis of variance frameworks. The influence of uncertainty on the projected change signal is quantified by using the signal-to-noise ratio. The results show that all emission scenarios indicate robust increments of ETp. Specifically, relative to 1971~2000, ETp will increase by 0.14~0.17 mm d−1 (5.7~6.8%) during 2021~2050 and by 0.21~0.41 mm d−1 (8.5~16.7%) during 2061~2090, respectively. During 2021~2050, the uncertainty of ETp projections is dominantly contributed by the main effects of GCM (63%) and the ETp calculation formula (24%). During 2061~2090, it is mainly contributed by the main effect of GCM (36%), followed by the main effects of the emission scenario (34%) and the ETp calculation formula (18%). Background: Previous studies have shown an association between gut microbiota and cardiovascular diseases (CVDs). However, the underlying causal relationship remains unclear. This study aims to elucidate the causal relationship between gut microbiota and CVDs and to explore the pathogenic role of gut microbiota in CVDs. Methods: In this two-sample Mendelian randomization study, we used genetic instruments from publicly available genome-wide association studies, including single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) associated with gut microbiota (n = 14,306) and CVDs (n = 2,207,591). We employed multiple statistical analysis methods, including inverse variance weighting, MR Egger, weighted median, MR pleiotropic residuals and outliers, and the leave-one-out method, to estimate the causal relationship between gut microbiota and CVDs. Additionally, we conducted multiple analyses to assess horizontal pleiotropy and heterogeneity. Results: GWAS summary data were available from a pooled sample of 2,221,897 adult and adolescent participants. Our findings indicated that specific gut microbiota had either protective or detrimental effects on CVDs. Notably, Howardella (OR = 0.955, 95% CI: 0.913–0.999, P =.05), Intestinibacter (OR = 0.908, 95% CI:0.831–0.993, P =.03), Lachnospiraceae (NK4A136 group) (OR = 0.904, 95% CI:0.841–0.973, P =.007), Turicibacter (OR = 0.904, 95% CI: 0.838–0.976, P =.01), Holdemania (OR, 0.898; 95% CI: 0.810–0.995, P =.04) and Odoribacter (OR, 0.835; 95% CI: 0.710–0.993, P =.04) exhibited a protective causal effect on atrial fibrillation, while other microbiota had adverse causal effects. Similar effects were observed with respect to coronary artery disease, myocardial infarction, ischemic stroke, and hypertension. Furthermore, reversed Mendelian randomization analyses revealed that atrial fibrillation and ischemic stroke had causal effects on certain gut microbiotas. Conclusion: Our study underscored the importance of gut microbiota in the context of CVDs and lent support to the hypothesis that increasing the abundance of probiotics or decreasing the abundance of harmful bacterial populations may offer protection against specific CVDs. Quasi‐two‐dimensional (quasi‐2D) perovskites are emerging as efficient emitters in blue perovskite light‐emitting diodes (PeLEDs), while the imbalanced crystallization of the halide‐mixed system limits further improvements in device performance. The rapid crystallization caused by Cl doping produces massive defects at the interface, leading to aggravated non‐radiative recombination. Meanwhile, unmanageable perovskite crystallization is prone to facilitate the formation of nonuniform low‐dimensional phases, which results in energy loss during the exciton transfer process. Here, we propose a multifunctional interface engineering for nucleation and phase regulation by incorporating the zwitterionic additive potassium sulfamate into the hole transport layer. By using potassium ions (K+) as heterogeneous nucleation seeds, finely controlled growth of interfacial K+‐guided grains is achieved. The sulfamate ions can simultaneously regulate the phase distribution and passivate defects through coordination interactions with undercoordinated lead atoms. Consequently, such synergistic effect constructs quasi‐2D blue perovskite films with smooth energy landscape and reduced trap states, leading to pure‐blue PeLEDs with a maximum external quantum efficiency (EQE) of 17.32 %, spectrally stable emission at 478 nm and the prolonged operational lifetime. The development of polysaccharide drugs requires a thorough understanding of their quantitative and pharmacokinetic properties. However, the complexity of biological samples presents a challenge for direct analysis using UHPLC-QTOF MS. Therefore, it is essential to establish a method for the selective enrichment of polysaccharides. In this study, we developed an efficient method for the quantitative determination of polysaccharides by integrating magnetic molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) for sample pretreatment and UHPLC-QTOF MS for analysis. The MIPs were prepared using molecularly imprinted and boric acid affinity technologies, which combined the advantages of specific recognition and reversible binding to polysaccharides. The MIPs exhibited high dispersibility and uniform particle size, and adsorption experiments demonstrated their specific recognition of BG136, a polysaccharide with immunological activity. The proposed method was used for the purification and enrichment of BG136 in plasma with recoveries between 91.29% and 113.03%. This simple method demonstrated high selectivity, fast separation, and satisfactory recoveries providing an approach for polysaccharide determination with UHPLC-QTOF MS. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Allergic rhinitis is a common health concern that affects quality of life. This study aims to examine the online search trends of allergic rhinitis in China before and after the COVID-19 epidemic and to explore the association between the daily air quality and online search volumes of allergic rhinitis in Beijing. Methods: We extracted the online search data of allergic rhinitis-related keywords from the Baidu index database from January 23, 2017 to June 23, 2022. We analyzed and compared the temporal distribution of online search behaviors across different themes of allergic rhinitis before and after the COVID-19 pandemic in mainland China, using the Baidu search index (BSI). We also obtained the air quality index (AQI) data in Beijing and assessed its correlation with daily BSIs of allergic rhinitis. Results: The online search for allergic rhinitis in China showed significant seasonal variations, with two peaks each year in spring from March to May and autumn from August and October. The BSI of total allergic rhinitis-related searches increased gradually from 2017 to 2019, reaching a peak in April 2019, and declined after the COVID-19 pandemic, especially in the first half of 2020. The BSI for all allergic rhinitis themes was significantly lower after the COVID-19 pandemic than before (all p values < 0.05). The results also revealed that, in Beijing, there was a significant negative association between daily BSI and AQI for each allergic rhinitis theme during the original variant strain epidemic period and a significant positive correlation during the Omicron variant period. Conclusion: Both air quality and the interventions used for COVID-19 pandemic, including national and local quarantines and mask wearing behaviors, may have affected the incidence and public concern about allergic rhinitis in China. The online search trends can serve as a valuable tool for tracking real-time public concerns about allergic rhinitis. By complementing traditional disease monitoring systems of health departments, these search trends can also offer insights into the patterns of disease outbreaks. Additionally, they can provide references and suggestions regarding the public's knowledge demands related to allergic rhinitis, which can further be instrumental in developing targeted strategies to enhance population-based disease education on allergic diseases. The normalized subband adaptive filtering algorithm provides fast convergence rate for colored input signals as compared to the normalized least mean square algorithm, but it suffers from a poor convergence issue in the α -stable noise. In light of this, the normalized subband p-norm (NSPN) algorithm, which is based on the least mean p-power error (MPE) criterion, is proposed in this study. This technique is not only robust against impulsive noise samples, but it also maintains a fast convergence rate when colored input signals are used. In addition to this, we develop both the steady-state and the transient models of the NSPN algorithm and provide some insights. Then, in order to solve the problem of making a choice regarding the order p in the NSPN algorithm, we design an autonomous system and come up with the NSPN algorithm with a variable p-norm (VP-NSPN). In addition, we offer the TFC-based VP-NSPN algorithm with a fast convergence rate and low steady-state misadjustment simultaneously by making use of the tap-weights feedback-based convex combination (TFC) scheme. In conclusion, simulation results on system identification and acoustic echo cancellation are undertaken in order to validate the superiority of the proposed algorithms and validate the usefulness of the theoretical analysis. Objective: With a global incidence of more than 10%, preterm birth (PTB) remains a significant concern. The vaginal microbiome strongly influences the well-being of the female reproductive tract. This study examines the correlation between changes in Lactobacillus vaginal microbiota and the PTB risk. Materials and Methods: A thorough search of PubMed, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, and EMBASE was conducted to locate studies that examined the association between changes in Lactobacillus vaginal microbiota and the risk of PTB from January 1, 2010, to January 30, 2023. The risk of PTB was determined by calculating odds ratios (ORs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs). Results: In our analysis, there were 11 studies with 1577 pregnant women. The findings revealed a significant negative correlation between higher Lactobacillus abundance and the PTB risk (OR = 0.49, 95% CI: 0.29–0.84, p = 0.009 < 0.05). Similarly, the four individual dominant species, Lactobacillus crispatus (OR = 0.3, 95% CI: 0.14–0.67, p = 0.003 < 0.05), Lactobacillus gasseri (OR = 0.34, 95% CI: 0.17–0.69, p = 0.003 < 0.05), Lactobacillus iners (OR = 0.68, 95% CI: 0.49–0.93, p = 0.016 < 0.05), and Lactobacillus jensenii (OR = 0.43, 95% CI: 0.21–0.89, p = 0.024 < 0.05), were also negatively associated with the PTB risk. The risk of Lactobacillus for PTB was significant in both America (OR = 0.67; 95% CI: 0.50–0.92) and Asia (OR = 0.20; 95% CI: 0.09–0.47), whereas no significant risk was found in Europe (OR = 0.49; 95% CI: 0.11–2.15). Conclusions: Our study demonstrated that the abundance of Lactobacillus and the four dominant individual species (L. crispatus, L. jensenii, L. iners, and L. gasseri) were significantly and negatively associated with the PTB risk. Scutellaria Radix (SR) is a widely used traditional Chinese medicine in clinics for the therapy of upper respiratory tract infectious diseases. Modern pharmacological investigations indicate that SR exerts a significant bacteriostatic effect on different oral bacteria, but few studies have systematically investigated the main active constituents of SR causing this activity. Spectrum–effect correlation analysis was applied to screening anti-oral-microbial constituents from SR. The aqueous extract of SR was divided into fractions of different polarity and the active fraction was screened using the agar diffusion method. Eighteen batches of SR were further prepared and the chromatography fingerprint was established using high-performance liquid chromatography. The antibacterial activities of these constituents were examined against different oral bacteria. Finally, the spectrum–effect relationship between the fingerprint and those antibacterial effects was analyzed by gray correlation analysis and partial least squares regression. Five active constituents were screened out and their antibacterial activity was systematically confirmed by a knockout/in strategy combined with a biofilm extraction method, which indicated that these five compounds were responsible for the antibacterial activity of SR. Rail freight is a common mode of transportation for bulk commodities and is widely used around the world, with heavy quality and large inertia. Conventional control methods are influenced by the dynamic parameters of the train model. To solve this problem, this paper designs a mayfly algorithm-predictive active disturbance rejection controller (MA-PADRC) for speed tracking and wheel anti-slip control of electric freight trains. This control method reduces dependence on accurate modeling. MA-PADRC integrates the searching ability of MA, predicting ability of Smith estimator and high efficiency of ADRC, and it can accurately estimate the driving disturbance of the freight train. Meanwhile, to prevent wheel slip, an Elman neural network-Kalman filter (ENN-KF) is designed. Through it, the precise observation of anti-slip parameters and the constraint of anti-slip control are realized. The proposed control is validated by simulation of both real and virtual driving speeds. The results show that the proposed control has a strong tracking performance, and can effectively prevent wheel slip and guarantee the safe driving of the freight train with large inertia. Previous studies have argued that women are less corrupt because they are marginalized or because they are risk averse. However, because of the insidious and hidden nature of corruption, the subjects of theoretical reasoning in previous studies were individuals who were not involved in corruption. This produces a lack of observations and analyses of individuals who are actually corrupt. For this reason, the present study used text mining of Taiwanese district court judgments to examine why women are less corrupt. The results reveal that, following the rise of gender equality in Taiwanese society, women are now less marginalized and are as likely as to be as corrupt as men. Furthermore, the level of corruption (reflected by the prosecution and conviction rates) among women who are less marginalized (elected civil servants) is higher than among those who are more marginalized (typical civil servants). This paper develops exact, inexact and some new variants of nonoverlapping spectral additive Schwarz (NOSAS) methods for hybrid discontinuous Galerkin discretizations. The NOSAS are nonoverlapping preconditioners designed for elliptic problems with highly heterogeneous coefficients, and the subdomain interactions are via the interface problem. The interface problem has two components, a local one with degrees of freedom on the interface of the subdomains and a global one based on a few generalized eigenvectors. These generalized eigenvectors are selected to guarantee the robustness of the NOSAS with respect to heterogeneous diffusion coefficients and the number of subdomains. A unique feature of NOSAS is that the corresponding generalized eigenvalue problems are obtained from the Neumann matrix of the nonoverlapping subdomain separately. Additionally, the number of these few generalized eigenvectors can be characterized by the geometry of the coefficients for the case of two coefficients with high contrast. We prove that the condition number of the NOSAS does not depend on the coefficients. The geostationary Himawari-8 satellite offers a unique opportunity to monitor sub-daily thermal dynamics over Asia and Oceania, and several operational land surface temperature (LST) retrieval algorithms have been developed for this purpose. However, studies have reported inconsistency between LST data obtained from geostationary and polar-orbiting platforms, particularly for daytime LST, which can arise from variations in viewing geometries and inherent differences in sensor types and LST algorithms. Despite this, previous research has primarily focused on analysing the directionality of LST without thoroughly exploring systematic differences between platforms. Hence, we presented a Solar Zenith Angle-based Calibration (SZAC) method to harmonise the daytime component of a split-window retrieved Himawari-8 LST (referred to here as the baseline) with the MODerate-resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) LST. SZAC describes the spatial heterogeneity and magnitude of diurnal LST discrepancies from different platforms, which is anticipated to complement typical directionality analyses. We evaluated the harmonised LST data, referred to as the Australian National University LST with SZAC (ANU SZAC), against MODIS LST and the Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) LST, as well as in-situ LST from the OzFlux network. Two peer Himawari-8 LST products from Chiba University and the Copernicus Global Land Service were also collected for comparison. The median daytime bias of ANU SZAC LST against Terra-MODIS LST, Aqua-MODIS LST and VIIRS LST was 1.52 K, 0.98 K and −0.63 K, respectively, which demonstrated improved performance compared to baseline (5.37 K, 4.85 K and 3.02 K, respectively) and Chiba LST (3.71 K, 2.90 K and 1.07 K, respectively). All four Himawari-8 LST products showed comparable performance of unbiased root mean squared error (ubRMSE), ranging from 2.47 to 3.07 K, compared to LST from polar-orbiting platforms. In the evaluation against in-situ LST, the mean values of bias (ubRMSE) of baseline, Chiba, Copernicus and ANU SZAC LST during daytime were 4.23 K (3.74 K), 2.16 K (3.62 K), 1.73 K (3.31 K) and 1.41 K (3.24 K), respectively, based on 171,289 hourly samples from 20 OzFlux sites across Australia between 01/Jan/2016 and 31/Dec/2020. In summary, the SZAC method offers a promising approach to enhance the reliability of geostationary LST retrievals by incorporating the spatiotemporal characteristics observed by accurate polar-orbiting LST data. SZAC can also reduce LST angular effects due to its capability of quantifying spatial inhomogeneity of surface heat dynamics. Furthermore, it is possible to implement SZAC using LST data acquired by geostationary satellites in other regions, e.g., Europe, Africa and Americas. Clinacanthus nutans (Burm. f.) Lindau, a traditional herb renowned for its anti-tumor, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory properties, has garnered considerable attention. Although its hepatoprotective effects have been described, there is still limited knowledge of its treatment of acute liver injury (ALI), and its mechanisms remain unclear. To assess the efficacy of Clinacanthus nutans in ALI and to identify the most effective fractions and their underlying mechanism of action. Bioinformatics was employed to explore the underlying anti-hepatic injury mechanisms and active compounds of Clinacanthus nutans. The binding ability of schaftoside, a potential active ingredient in Clinacanthus nutans , to the core target nuclear factor E2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) was further determined by molecular docking. The role of schaftoside in improving histological abnormalities in the liver was observed by H&E and Masson's staining in an ALI model induced by CCl 4. Serum and liver biochemical parameters were measured using AST, ALT and hydroxyproline kits. An Fe2+ kit, transmission electron microscopy, western blotting, RT-qPCR, and DCFH-DA were used to measure whether schaftoside reduces ferroptosis-induced ALI. Subsequently, specific siRNA knockdown of Nrf2 in AML12 cells was performed to further elucidate the mechanism by which schaftoside attenuates ferroptosis-induced ALI. Bioinformatics analysis and molecular docking showed that schaftoside is the principal compound from Clinacanthus nutans. Schaftoside was shown to diminish oxidative stress levels, attenuate liver fibrosis, and forestall ferroptosis. Deeper investigations revealed that schaftoside amplified Nrf2 expression and triggered the Nrf2/GPX4 pathway, thereby reversing mitochondrial aberrations triggered by lipid peroxidation, GPX4 depletion, and ferroptosis. Rewritable luminescent materials are attracting widespread attention for information storage and display as they can help to reduce environmental wastes caused by the abuse of single-use and transient systems. Nevertheless, since most reported systems are chemical-stimuli-responsive and single-stimuli-responsive, it remains challenging to achieve the rewritable and programmable display of multiple information in one single system, which is essential to enhance information richness and display intelligence. In this work, an ideal kind of multi-responsive soft luminescent display systems are reported, which consist of heat/humidity-responsive fluorescence-phosphorescence dual-emission film and stacked graphene assembly (SGA) film by using thin poly (dimethyl siloxane) (PDMS) as middle connecting layer. In such multilayer structure, the heat generated by electricity connection or light illumination of bottom SGA film can be instantly transferred across the middle PDMS layer to cause heat-triggered red-to-blue emission color change, or to evaporate water for blue-to-red emission color recovery. Owing to the "residual-free" nature of these electricity, light and water stimuli, multi-responsive rewritability is guaranteed to enable the reversible writing and complete erasure of various letter/pattern information. On this basis, robust electricity/light-heat-hygro multi-responsive soft luminescent display systems are demonstrated, in which diverse letter/pattern information could be facilely programmed to be successively displayed and then completely reset to enable another data writing/erasing cycle by sequential modulation of different environmental stimuli. While raw images possess distinct advantages over sRGB images, e.g., linearity and fine-grained quantization levels, they are not widely adopted by general users due to their substantial storage requirements. Very recent studies propose to compress raw images by designing sampling masks within the pixel space of the raw image. However, these approaches often leave space for pursuing more effective image representations and compact metadata. In this work, we propose a novel framework that learns a compact representation in the latent space, serving as metadata, in an end-to-end manner. Compared with lossy image compression, we analyze the intrinsic difference of the raw image reconstruction task caused by rich information from the sRGB image. Based on the analysis, a novel design of the backbone with asymmetric and hybrid spatial feature resolutions is proposed, which significantly improves the rate-distortion performance. Besides, we propose a novel design of the sRGB-guided context model, which can better predict the order masks of encoding/decoding based on both the sRGB image and the the masks of already processed features. Benefited from the better modeling of the correlation between order masks, the already processed information can be better utilized. Moreover, a novel sRGB-guided adaptive quantization precision strategy, which dynamically assigns varying levels of quantization precision to different regions, further enhances the representation ability of the model. Finally, based on the iterative properties of the proposed context model, we propose a novel strategy to achieve variable bit rates using a single model. This strategy allows for the continuous convergence of a wide range of bit rates. We demonstrate how our raw image compression scheme effectively allocates more bits to image regions that hold greater global importance. Extensive experimental results validate the superior performance of the proposed method, achieving high-quality raw image reconstruction with a smaller metadata size, compared with existing SOTA methods. Haemorrhoids are a common chronic anorectal disease, and haemorrhoidectomy is the standard treatment for advanced (grade III and IV) haemorrhoids. Warm water sitz has commonly been used to stimulate urination, cleanse wounds, and decrease pain. Although urinary retention and pain usually occur within the first 24 h after surgery, the warm water sitz bath is provided 24 h after haemorrhoidectomy, which might be a missed opportunity to optimize the quality and efficiency of the care provided. To investigate the effect of early warm water sitz bath on the day of haemorrhoidectomy surgery on preventing urinary retention and reducing wound pain. This was a longitudinal double-blind study with a permuted block randomization design. This study was conducted in a surgical ward of a medical center. An average of 18 patients receiving hemorrhoid surgery in that ward every month. A total of 64 participants (32 each in the experimental and control groups) were enrolled. (The first recruitment date is January 16, 2020.) Patients who received haemorrhoidectomy for grade III or IV haemorrhoids from January to December 2020 were enrolled. The experimental and control groups received the same conventional treatment and care before the haemorrhoidectomy. The experimental group started warm-water sitz bath 6 h after the surgery, and the control group started warm water sitz bath on post-haemorrhoidectomy day 1 as usual. Urinary retention was defined as use of Foley catheter during the hospital stay or remaining urine volume ≧ 300 ml using the bladder scan. A numerical rating scale was used to rate the pain level. Each participant was evaluated 6 times in total until hospital discharge. The data were analysed by descriptive statistics, chi-square test, and independent samples t test. Generalized estimating equations and intention to treat were used to identify changes in urinary retention and pain over time and missing data, respectively. There was no significant difference in the degree of change in the number of people with urinary retention between groups. A change in the wound pain index was noted; the study group had a statistically significant lower pain score than the control group (B = − 0.81, 95 % CI: − 1.44 to − 0.18). Early warm water sitz bath was a safe and effective strategy to decrease post-haemorrhoidectomy pain, but not urinary retention. NOSAS (Nonoverlapping Spectral Additive Schwarz) methods are nonoverlapping iterative domain decomposition methods for efficiently solving large sparse linear systems arising from elliptic problems with heterogeneous coefficients. NOSAS methods are of additive Schwarz types with local Dirichlet solver on each nonoverlapping subdomain Ω i , plus a coarse problem on the interface of the subdomains. The coarse problem has global and local interaction components which are associated respectively to low-frequency and high-frequency modes obtained locally from a generalized eigenvalue problem defined on each subdomain's interface. In this paper, we propose several variants of the NOSAS methods by selecting different generalized eigenvalue problems and different coarse space extensions. Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) is a severe condition with high mortality and morbidity rates. Evidence on the effectiveness of pharmacological interventions for ARDS treatment is limited. Recent studies suggest that aspirin may prevent ARDS development, but its efficacy in established ARDS is uncertain. We enrolled patients with ARDS using data from the Medical Information Mart for Intensive Care-IV (MIMIC-IV) database. Primary outcomes were 30- and 90-day mortality rates and length of ICU stay. We employed multivariable Cox regression and linear regression models for statistical analysis and used propensity score matching (PSM) to ensure robust results. The study included 10,042 participants with an average age of 61.8 ± 15.3 years. Kaplan–Meier analysis showed significantly lower 30- and 90-day mortality rates in patients treated with pre-ICU admission aspirin compared with non-aspirin use (p < 0.0001). Multivariable Cox regression models revealed a significant 63% reduction in 30-day mortality for pre-ICU aspirin users (HR = 0.37, 95% CI: 0.31–0.44, p < 0.001). Aspirin use in the ICU was associated with a 59% reduction in ICU mortality and a 0.68-day reduction in length of ICU stay (p < 0.05). These findings consistently indicate that aspirin may improve survival in patients with ARDS, even after further stratification of aspirin use and PSM analysis. Our findings suggest that aspirin treatment before ICU admission is associated with significantly reduced 30- and 90-day mortality rates and decreased length of ICU stay in patients with ARDS. DNA 4 mC plays a crucial role in the genetic expression process of organisms. However, existing deep learning algorithms have shortcomings in the ability to represent DNA sequence features. In this paper, we propose a 4 mC site identification algorithm, DNABert-4mC, based on a fusion of the pruned pre-training DNABert-Pruning model and artificial feature encoding to identify 4 mC sites. The algorithm prunes and compresses the DNABert model, resulting in the pruned pre-training model DNABert-Pruning. This model reduces the number of parameters and removes redundancy from output features, yielding more precise feature representations while upholding accuracy.Simultaneously, the algorithm constructs an artificial feature encoding module to assist the DNABert-Pruning model in feature representation, effectively supplementing the information that is missing from the pre-trained features. The algorithm also introduces the AFF-4mC fusion strategy, which combines artificial feature encoding with the DNABert-Pruning model, to improve the feature representation capability of DNA sequences in multi-semantic spaces and better extract 4 mC sites and the distribution of nucleotide importance within the sequence. In experiments on six independent test sets, the DNABert-4mC algorithm achieved an average AUC value of 93.81%, outperforming seven other advanced algorithms with improvements of 2.05%, 5.02%, 11.32%, 5.90%, 12.02%, 2.42% and 2.34%, respectively. Oral ulceration is the most common oral mucosal disease. Oral mucosal ulcers are extremely painful, may interfere with eating and speaking, and potentially complicate systemic symptoms in severe cases. The humid and highly dynamic environment of the oral cavity makes local drug administration for treating oral mucosal ulcers challenging. To overcome these challenges, we designed and prepared a novel dissolving microneedle (MN) patch containing multiple drugs in a core-shell to promote oral ulcer healing. The MNs contained a methacrylate gelatin shell layer of basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF), a hyaluronic acid (HA) core loaded with dexamethasone (DXMS), and zeolite imidazoline framework-8 (ZIF-8) encapsulated in the HA-based backplane. Progressive degradation of gelatin methacryloyl (GelMA) from the tip of the MN patch in the oral mucosa resulted in sustained bFGF release at the lesion site, significantly promoting cell migration, proliferation, and angiogenesis. Moreover, the rapid release of HA and, subsequently, DXMS inhibited inflammation, and the remaining MN backing after the tip dissolved behaved as a dressing, releasing ZIF-8 for its antimicrobial effects. This novel, multifunctional, transmucosal core-shell MN patch exhibited excellent anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and pro-healing effects in vivo and in vitro , suggesting that it can promote oral ulcer healing. Among these catalysts, Mn 1.82 Fe 0.18 O 3 exhibited optimal catalytic performance showing the lowest T 10 , T 50 and T 90 in weight hourly space velocity (WHSV) of 60000 mL·(g·h)-1. • We designed a fiber sensor system comprising fused silica fiber Bragg grating and silicon core fiber-based fiber Bragg grating. • A hybrid fiber Bragg grating sensor system was proposed, employing only two sensing devices to detect three different environmental targets. • Our focus was solely on addressing the connection between two distinct fibers, namely fused silica and silicon core fiber. We discussed the associated loss and spectral distortion issues. In this article, we introduce a multi-parameter fiber sensor system that utilizes a hybrid FBG design. The design combines a fused silica fiber Bragg grating and a fiber Bragg grating based on a silicon core fiber. This combination enables the sensor to detect surrounding temperature, water level, and refractive index. The sensor successfully measured temperature within the range of 10 to 40 °C, water level within the range of 40 to 140 cm, and refractive index within the range of 1.2 to 1.4. These ranges exhibit a high level of linearity within the proposed sensing range. Additionally, we discuss the challenges associated with connecting the fused silica fiber and the silicon core fiber. Directed networks appear in an expanding array of applications, for example, the world wide web, social networks, transaction networks, and citation networks. A critical task in analyzing directed networks is clustering, where the goal is partitioning the network's nodes based on their similarities while accounting for the direction of relationships between nodes. Non-negative matrix factorization (NMF) and its variations have been used to cluster the nodes in directed networks by approximating their adjacency matrices efficaciously. The differences between the corresponding entries of the actual and approximate adjacency matrices are considered as errors, which are assumed to follow Gaussian distributions. However, these errors could deviate from Gaussian distributions in various real-world networks. In this work, we propose a robust asymmetric non-negative matrix factorization method to cluster the nodes in directed networks. Recognizing that the errors do not follow Gaussian distributions in real-world networks, the proposed method assumes that the errors follow a Cauchy distribution, which resembles the Gaussian distribution but has heavier tails. Experiments using real-world as well as artificial networks show that the proposed method outperforms existing NMF methods and other representative work in clustering in various settings. To explore the potential wear performance of commonly utilized hydraulic system polymer components, we investigated the effects of different working conditions on the frictional and wear behaviors of three polymer sealing materials in this study. Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), nylon (PA), and polypropylene (PP) composites were prepared using copper (Cu) and glass fiber (GF) as fillers. The tribological and wear properties (wear rate, surface appearance, wear patterns) of the sealing composites were evaluated. The results showed consistent trends toward increasing average coefficient of friction as load and speed increased for PTFE. The incorporation of filler improved the wear resistance of the composites. The addition of Cu particles showed lower coefficient under higher load and sliding speed. PA with continuous glass fiber (CGF) sealing composites showed lower coefficient, less wear volume, and relatively smoother wear zone surfaces than PTFE-based composites or PP with short glass fiber (SGF). We propose that PA-CGF outperforms other materials in regards to fatigue and friction and wear even under extremely high silding speed,as well as sealing properties. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In the coal-rich provinces of Shanxi, Shaanxi, and Inner Mongolia, the landscape bears the scars of coal extraction—namely subsidence and deformation—that disrupt both the terrain and the delicate ecological balance. This research delves into the transformative journey these mining regions undergo, from pre-mining equilibrium, through the tumultuous phase of extraction, to the eventual restoration of stability post-reclamation. By harnessing a suite of analytical tools, including sophisticated remote sensing, UAV aerial surveys, and the meticulous ground-level sampling of flora and soil, the study meticulously measures the environmental toll of mining activities and charts the path to ecological restoration. The results are promising, indicating that the restoration initiatives are effectively healing the landscapes, with proactive interventions such as seeding, afforestation, and land rehabilitation proving vital in the swift ecological turnaround. Remote sensing technology, in particular, emerges as a robust ally in tracking ecological shifts, supporting sustainable practices and guiding ecological management strategies. • Two steps of CH 4 hydrate formation in the presence of CP were observed. • Gas uptake as high as 131.80 mmol/molH 2 O was obtained in this work. • The stability of methane hydrates was characterized in this work. • A new strategy for methane hydrate storage and transportation was proposed. The work systematically investigates the kinetic of methane(CH 4) hydrate formation in the presence of cyclopentane（CP）by measuring induction time, hydrate formation rate, and gas uptake. The results showed that there are two steps for CH 4 hydrate formation in the presence of CP: Step 1, pure CP hydrate formation. Step 2, gas enters the empty cages of pure CP hydrates to form CP/CH 4 mixed hydrates. Besides, the rapid hydrate formation rate and high CH 4 uptake are observed from hydrate formation in this work. At the optimum conditions of 288.15 K and CP mole fractions of 5.6 mol%, the gas uptake and the time required for completion of hydrate formation are 131.80 mmol/mol H 2 O and 138 min, respectively. Relative to the highest reported gas uptake obtained in the presence of thermodynamic promoter (72.0 mmol/mol H 2 O), the value increased by 83%. More strikingly, the work shows that high gas uptake hydrates formed at relatively low temperatures can be stored and transported at relatively high temperatures, as high as 298.15 K, without significantly reducing the gas uptake, thereby providing one of the cost-effective methods for hydrate storage and transportation, that is forming hydrates at relatively low temperatures and storing and transporting hydrates at relatively high temperatures. Further, we proposed a schematic of the process chain of SNG(storing natural gas via solid hydrate) technology in vehicular and detailed discuss the current status of SNG technology development. It can be concluded that using the strategy that storage and transportation hydrates at a low-pressure condition instead of at ambient pressure (1.0 atm) may be a more realistic choice to industrialize SNG technology. Objectives: Medialization thyroplasty (MT) using various implants has been employed as a corrective procedure for unilateral vocal fold paralysis (UVFP). A newly developed APrevent® vocal implant system (VOIS) offers an innovative solution with a finely adjustable design. This study aimed to investigate the long-term functional voice outcomes and benefits of postoperative adjustments in patients receiving MT using the VOIS-implant. Methods: This is a prospective case series study at single tertiary medical center. Fourteen adult patients diagnosed with UVFP received MT with the VOIS implant and were followed up for more than 1 year. Implant adjustment procedure by injecting 0.9% physiological saline solution was performed both during and after the surgery to optimize glottal closure and voice quality. Objective voice outcomes and acoustic parameters were assessed preoperatively and postoperatively at various timepoints. Results: Thirteen patients (93%) received intraoperative balloon adjustment, ranging from 0.05to 0.12 ml. Four patients underwent adjustments postoperatively and exhibited a positive trend towards immediately improving acoustic voice quality. Our long-term results demonstrated a notable improvement after the surgery in voice quality, with significant decreases in VHI-30 and improvements in perceptual parameters of GRBAS scale, acoustic measures such as jitter and signal-to-noise ratio (p < 0.001) and cepstral peak prominence smoothed in sustained vowel and short sentences. The voice outcomes remained stable more than 1 year follow-up. Conclusions: Overall, MT with VOIS implantation provides a favorable long-term outcomes and stability in voice quality for patients with UVFP and also an effective tool for postoperative adjustment without major revision surgeries. Purpose: To determine the disparities in survival outcomes between stage IIB-IVA cervical squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) and adenocarcinoma (AC) treated with chemoradiotherapy. Methods: Patients diagnosed between 2004 and 2015 were retrospectively included from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results databases. Propensity score matching (PSM) was used in this study. The primary endpoints were cervical cancer-specific survival (CCSS) and overall survival (OS). Results: A total of 2752 patients were identified, including 87.5% (n=2408) were SCC and 12.5% (n=344) were AC. Patients with AC had inferior 5-year CCSS (67.5% vs 54.8%, P< 0.001) and OS (58.4% vs 47.2%, P< 0.001) compared to those with the SCC subtype. The hazard curve of cervical cancer-related death in AC peaked at 2 years (19%) and still small peaks in the 7 and 11 years of follow-up. Regarding SCC, cervical cancer-related deaths peaked at 2 years (15%) and the hazard rate was 2.0% during the six years of follow-up. The multivariate Cox regression analyses indicated that histology was an independent prognostic factor associated with survival outcomes. Patients with AC had significantly poor CCSS (P< 0.001) and OS (P< 0.001). Similar results were found after PSM. Conclusion: Our study demonstrates a significantly better prognosis for cervical SCC patients compared to those with cervical AC undergoing chemoradiotherapy. Flowers of Paulownia spp. wither and fall on a large scale after blooming in spring and have potential allelopathic effects on surrounding plants, including crops and weeds. In this study, the phytotoxic effects of water extracts of Paulownia tomentosa flower litter (EPF) on wheat (Triticum aestivum L.), lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.), green bristlegrass (Setaria viridis L.) and purslane (Portulaca oleracea L.) were evaluated in the laboratory. The mode of action of the phytotoxicity of EPF on lettuce seedlings was studied and the secondary metabolites in EPF were analyzed by liquid chromatography high-resolution mass spectrometry (LC-HRMS). The results show that EPF significantly inhibited the seed germination and seedling growth of four target plants in a concentration-dependent manner. In addition, EPF could induce the excessive accumulation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) flowing with oxidative damage of the lipid bilayer of the biofilm, resulting in reduced cell viability and even apoptosis in lettuce. There were 66 secondary metabolites identified by LC-HRMS in P. tomentosa flowers. Among them, 10 compounds, including salicylic acid, caffeic acid, parthenolide, 7-hydroxycoumarin and abscisic acid (ABA), were all known allelochemicals. In summary, P. tomentosa flower litter displayed significant allelopathic effects, which were related to the accumulation of ROS in target plants. Introduction and hypothesis: Women who have intraspinal anesthesia for delivery are more likely to experience postpartum urinary retention (PUR), which, if not recognized and treated promptly, can result in long-term urinary dysfunction. Many factors influencing PUR have been proposed, but no study has been conducted to investigate the relationship between them. This study is aimed at determining the influencing factors of PUR and to explore the relationship between them. Methods: A prospective, cross-sectional survey using self-made questionnaires was conducted among 372 puerperae in a Grade A hospital in Guangzhou, China, from April to September 2022. SPSS25.0 and AMOS24.0 were used for data analysis, and a path analysis model was established to determine the relationship between the influencing factors. Results: The incidence of PUR was 49.85%. Residence, the level of postpartum pain, and the change of postnatal urination position had a direct effect on PUR. Episiotomy and analgesic duration have both direct and indirect effects on PUR. Forceps delivery, perineal edema and oxytocin had an indirect effect on PUR. Variables could influence the occurrence of PUR by mediating the analgesic duration, episiotomy, postpartum pain level, and postnatal urination position changes. Conclusions: This study provides an empirical model to illustrate the relationship between PUR and related factors in women who delivered under intraspinal anesthesia. In future management, more attention should be paid to women who live in cities, have higher levels of postpartum pain, longer analgesic duration, higher grade of perineal edema, and received episiotomy, forceps delivery, and oxytocin during labor. Single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) possess superb properties originating from their unique chiral structures. However, accurately controlling the structure of SWCNTs remains challenging due to the structural similarities of their chiral structures, which hinders their widespread application in various fields, particularly in electronics. In recent years, much effort has been devoted to preparing single chiral SWCNTs by adopting three constructive strategies, including growth condition control for structurally unstable liquid catalysts, employing stable solid catalyst design, and pre-synthesis of carbon seeds with a well-defined shape. This review comprehensively discusses the state-of-the-art developments in these approaches as well as their advantages and disadvantages. SUMMARY Acteoside is a bioactive phenylethanoid glycoside widely distributed throughout the plant kingdom. Because of its two catechol moieties, acteoside displays a variety of beneficial activities. The biosynthetic pathway of acteoside has been largely elucidated, but the assembly logic of two catechol moieties in acteoside remains unclear. Here, we identified a novel polyphenol oxidase OfPPO2 from Osmanthus fragrans, which could hydroxylate various monophenolic substrates, including tyrosine, tyrosol, tyramine, 4‐hydroxyphenylacetaldehyde, salidroside, and osmanthuside A, leading to the formation of corresponding catechol‐containing intermediates for acteoside biosynthesis. OfPPO2 could also convert osmanthuside B into acteoside, creating catechol moieties directly via post‐modification of the acteoside skeleton. The reverse transcription‐quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT‐qPCR) analysis and subcellular localization assay further support the involvement of OfPPO2 in acteoside biosynthesis in planta. These findings suggest that the biosynthesis of acteoside in O. fragrans may follow “parallel routes” rather than the conventionally considered linear route. In support of this hypothesis, the glycosyltransferase OfUGT and the acyltransferase OfAT could direct the flux of diphenolic intermediates generated by OfPPO2 into acteoside. Significantly, OfPPO2 and its orthologs constitute a functionally conserved enzyme family that evolved independently from other known biosynthetic enzymes of acteoside, implying that the substrate promiscuity of this PPO family may offer acteoside‐producing plants alternative ways to synthesize acteoside. Overall, this work expands our understanding of parallel pathways plants may employ to efficiently synthesize acteoside, a strategy that may contribute to plants' adaptation to environmental challenges. Having fast, accurate, and broad spectrum methods for the identification of microorganisms is of paramount importance to public health, research, and safety. Bottom-up mass spectrometer-based proteomics has emerged as an effective tool for the accurate identification of microorganisms from microbial isolates. However, one major hurdle that limits the deployment of this tool for routine clinical diagnosis, and other areas of research such as culturomics, is the instrument time required for the mass spectrometer to analyze a single sample, which can take ∼1 h per sample, when using mass spectrometers that are presently used in most institutes. To address this issue, in this study, we employed, for the first time, tandem mass tags (TMTs) in multiplex identifications of microorganisms from multiple TMT-labeled samples in one MS/MS experiment. A difficulty encountered when using TMT labeling is the presence of interference in the measured intensities of TMT reporter ions. To correct for interference, we employed in the proposed method a modified version of the expectation maximization (EM) algorithm that redistributes the signal from ion interference back to the correct TMT-labeled samples. We have evaluated the sensitivity and specificity of the proposed method using 94 MS/MS experiments (covering a broad range of protein concentration ratios across TMT-labeled channels and experimental parameters), containing a total of 1931 true positive TMT-labeled channels and 317 true negative TMT-labeled channels. The results of the evaluation show that the proposed method has an identification sensitivity of 93–97% and a specificity of 100% at the species level. Furthermore, as a proof of concept, using an in-house-generated data set composed of some of the most common urinary tract pathogens, we demonstrated that by using the proposed method the mass spectrometer time required per sample, using a 1 h LC-MS/MS run, can be reduced to 10 and 6 min when samples are labeled with TMT-6 and TMT-10, respectively. The proposed method can also be used along with Orbitrap mass spectrometers that have faster MS/MS acquisition rates, like the recently released Orbitrap Astral mass spectrometer, to further reduce the mass spectrometer time required per sample.
