Hepatitis E virus （HEV） is a universal foodborne pathogen that infects swine， deer， rabbits， camels， and other animals. Direct contact with infected pigs and other animals or consumption of contaminated food （uncooked or undercooked） poses a risk of HEV infection in humans. This article summarizes the etiology and epidemiology of HEV， its prevalence in various animal species， and the contamination of meat and meat products， the aquatic environment， seafood， vegetables， and other crops. Therefore， people can better understand the risk of foodborne HEV transmission and provide a scientific basis for preventing and controlling its prevalence.

Aim: Climate is widely understood to determine elevational patterns of soil microbial communities, whereas the effects of parental material are uncertain. Changes in the composition of parental materials along elevational transects could also affect soil microbial communities by influencing soil pH and nutrient availability. Here, we aim to illustrate the combined effects of climate and parental material on the biomass and composition of soil microbial communities along an elevational transect. Location: A subtropical forest on a karst mountain (Mt. Jinfo), China. Taxon: Bacteria and Fungi. Methods: We use phospholipid fatty acid analysis (PLFA) and DNA amplicon high‐throughput sequencing to determine biomass and diversity patterns of soil microbial communities along a subtropical elevational gradient with contrasting parental materials (limestone and clasolite). Results: We observed that the microbial communities were more diverse (α‐diversity) and productive (biomass) on limestone than on clasolite. Additionally, we found that parental material played a role in shaping the composition (β‐diversity) of soil microbial communities along the elevational gradient. The impact of climate on soil microbial communities was found to be significant, albeit relatively weak. Structural equation models provided evidence for both direct and indirect effects of climate and parental material on microbial biomass and α‐diversity along the elevational gradient. Notably, the changes in soil pH, influenced by both parental material and climate, were identified as a key factor driving these effects. The rapid development of miniaturized, high-frequency, and highly integrated microelectronic devices has brought about critical issues in electromagnetic compatibility and thermal management. In recent years, there has been significant interest in lightweight polymer-based composites that offer both electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding and thermal conductivity. One promising approach involves constructing three-dimensional (3D) interconnection networks using functional fillers in the polymer matrix. These networks have been proven effective in enhancing the thermal and electrical conductivity of the composites. This mini-review focuses on the preparation and properties of 3D network-reinforced polymer composites, specifically those incorporating metal, carbon, ceramic, and hybrid networks. By comparing the effects of different filler types and distribution on the composite materials, the advantages of 3D interconnected conductive networks in polymer composites are highlighted. Additionally, this review addresses the challenges faced in the field of multifunctional thermal management and electromagnetic protection materials and provides insights into future development trends and application prospects of 3D structured composites. Background: The present study aimed to investigate the potential role of perceived stress, impulsivity trait, executive dysfunction in non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI) thoughts among college students, as well as the gender differences. Methods: A sample of 890 university students completed self-report measures of NSSI thoughts in the past month, the level of perceived stress, impulsivity traits, and executive dysfunction. Results: Compared to those with low level of perceived stress, participants with high level of perceived stress reported significant higher levels of impulsivity trait and executive dysfunction, and higher frequency of NSSI thoughts, and there were no gender differences. Male participants with NSSI thoughts, compared to males without NSSI thoughts, reported significant higher levels of perceived stress and executive dysfunction. Female participants with NSSI thoughts, compared to females without NSSI thoughts, reported significant higher levels of perceived stress, impulsivity trait, and executive dysfunction. Hierarchical regression analysis revealed only executive dysfunction was associated with NSSI thoughts in males, while only perceived stress was associated with NSSI thoughts in females. Conclusion: This study revealed different influence factors for NSSI thoughts in male and female college students. Taxol (paclitaxel) is the first approved microtubule‐stabilizing agent (MSA) by binding stoichiometrically to tubulin, which is considered to be one of the most significant advances in first‐line chemotherapy against diverse tumors. However, a large number of residue missence mutations harboring in the tubulin have been observed to cause acquired drug resistance, largely limiting the clinical application of Taxol and its analogs in chemotherapy. A systematic investigation of the intermolecular interactions between the Taxol and various tubulin mutants would help to establish a comprehensive picture of drug response to tubulin mutations in clinical treatment of cancer, and to design new MSA agents with high potency and selectivity to overcome drug resistance. In this study, we described an integration of in silico analysis and in vitro assay (iSiV) to profile Taxol against a panel of 149 clinically observed, cancer‐associated missence mutations in β‐tubulin at molecular and cellular levels, aiming to a systematic understanding of molecular mechanism and biological implication underlying drug resistance and sensitivity conferring from tubulin mutations. It is revealed that the Taxol‐resistant mutations can be classified into three types: (I) nonbonded interaction broken due to mutation, (II) steric hindrance caused by mutation, and (III) conformational change upon mutation. In addition, we identified three new Taxol‐resistant mutations (C239Y, T274I, and R320P) that can largely reduce the binding affinity of Taxol to tubulin at molecular level, in which the T274I and R320P were observed to considerably impair the antitumor activity of Taxol at cellular level. Moreover, a novel drug‐susceptible mutation (M363T) was also identified, which improves Taxol affinity by 2.6‐fold and decreases Taxol antitumor EC50 values from 29.4 to 18.7 μM. Objective To explore the effects of the multiple shared decision-making mode using a decision aid manual in conjunction with online labor and delivery decision support on the delivery mode for pregnant women with a scarred uterus. Methods A total of 94 women with scarred uterus who received prenatal care at a tertiary hospital from September 2019 to October 2022 were enrolled and assigned to experimental and control groups using the random number table method. The control group received standard prenatal education, and the experimental group received multiple shared decision-making interventions in addition to standard prenatal education. The degree of conflict in decision-making for delivery, preference for delivery mode, postpartum decision regret, and the final delivery mode between the two groups were compared, respectively. Results Following the multiple shared decision intervention, decision conflict scores in the experimental group were significantly reduced (P < 0.001). In the survey on delivery mode preferences, there was a reduction in the number of individuals in the experimental group expressing "uncertainty", and an increase in those choosing vaginal delivery. Ultimately, in the experimental group, 30 women (68.2%) underwent cesarean sections, and 14 (31.8%) had vaginal deliveries. The level of post-decision regret in the experimental group was lower than that in the control group (P < 0.001). Conclusions Multiple shared decision-making for women pregnant with a scarred uterus could reduce the level of decision-making conflict, increase the willingness for vaginal delivery, and assist them in making rational and scientifically informed decisions regarding childbirth. MXenes, as a new type of two-dimensional nanomaterial, have great potential for biomedical applications due to their unique structural features and excellent physicochemical properties. In recent years, numerous studies have demonstrated that MXenes materials also possess good antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant activities, which has greatly promoted the development of MXenes in the field of tissue engineering and skin regeneration. A series of emerging studies on the introduction of MXenes into wound dressings has significantly advanced the research progress of novel wound dressings. This review provides a brief overview of the application of MXenes in wound healing, focusing on the properties of MXenes in wound healing and the specific applications of MXenes as wound dressings, as well as some suggestions and opinions on their future development. Aims/Introduction: Serum amyloid A (SAA) is an acute phase reactive protein that plays a vital role in the early diagnosis, risk prediction, efficacy observation and prognosis evaluation of infectious diseases. This study aimed to assess the association between SAA levels and the prognosis of patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID‐19) and diabetes. Materials and Methods: We carried out this retrospective cohort study from March 2022 to May 2022. The population was stratified by tertiles of SAA levels: low (<8.5 mg/L), medium (8.5–36 mg/L) and high (>36 mg/L). The primary outcome was whether the patient developed severe COVID‐19, and secondary outcomes included the need for invasive mechanical ventilation and length of hospital stay. Logistic regression analyses were carried out to identify risk factors affecting the prognosis of patients with COVID‐19 and diabetes. Results: We analyzed 910 diabetes patients with COVID‐19. The median age of the patients was 69 years, and 52.3% were men. As SAA levels increased, the proportion of severe COVID‐19 (6.3% vs 7.3% vs 22.8%, P < 0.001) and the proportion of invasive mechanical ventilation also increased among the three groups. Patients with high SAA levels had a longer length of hospital stay compared with patients with medium SAA and low SAA levels. Univariate logistic regression analysis showed that SAA >36 mg/L further increased the odds ratio to 4.423 (P < 0.001) for the development of severe COVID‐19 compared with low SAA. Multivariate logistic regression analysis, adjusted for age and sex, confirmed that SAA >36 mg/L remained an independent risk factor for the development of severe COVID‐19 (adjusted odds ratio 3.038, P < 0.001). A co-location pattern indicates a subset of spatial features whose instances are frequently located together in proximate geographical space. Most previous studies of spatial co-location pattern mining concern what percentage of instances per feature are involved in the table instance of a pattern, but neglect the heterogeneity in the number of feature instances and the distribution of instances. As a result, the deviation may be occurred in the interest measure of co-locations. In this article, we propose a novel mixed prevalence index (MPI) incorporating the effect of feature-level and instance-level heterogeneity on the prevalence measure, which can address some dilemmas in existing interest measures. Luckily, MPI possesses the partial antimonotone property. In virtue of this property, a branch-based search algorithm equipped with some optimizing strategies of MPI calculation is proposed, namely, Branch-Opt-MPI. Comprehensive experiments are conducted on both real and synthetic spatial datasets. Experimental results reveal the superiority of MPI compared to other interest measures and also validate the efficiency and scalability of the Branch-Opt-MPI. Particularly, the Branch-Opt-MPI performs more efficiently than baselines for several times or even orders of magnitude in dense data.

Context: The prevalence of unilateral primary aldosteronism (UPA) with cortisol co-secretion varies geographically., Objective: To investigate the prevalence and clinical characteristics of UPA with cortisol co-secretion in a Chinese population., Design: Retrospective cohort study., Methods: We recruited 580 patients with UPA who underwent cosyntropin stimulation test (CST) after the 1-mg dexamethasone suppression test (DST) and retrospectively analyzed the clinical characteristics and postoperative outcomes of UPA with and without cortisol co-secretion., Results: UPA with cortisol co-secretion (1 mg DST>1.8 ug/dL) was identified in 65 of 580 (11.2%) patients. These patients were characterized by older age, longer duration of hypertension, higher concentration of plasma aldosterone and midnight cortisol, lower adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) and dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate (DHEAS), larger tumor diameter, and more history of diabetes mellitus. Cortisol and aldosterone levels were higher and DHEAS level was lower in UPA with cortisol co-secretion at 0-120 min after CST. Among 342 UPA patients with KCNJ5 gene sequencing and follow-up results, the complete clinical success rate was lower in UPA with cortisol co-secretion (33.3% vs. 56.4%, P<0.05); the complete biochemical success rate and KCNJ5 mutation did not differ between the two groups. Age, tumor size, and ACTH were independent predictors of UPA with cortisol co-secretion. Sex, BMI, duration of hypertension, KCNJ5 mutation, and cortisol co-secretion were independent predictors for complete clinical success in UPA after surgery., Conclusions: UPA with cortisol co-secretion is not uncommon in China, but the clinical features were distinctly different from those without co-secretion. Vascular etiology is the second most prevalent cause of cognitive impairment globally. Endothelin-1, which is produced and secreted by endothelial cells and astrocytes, is implicated in the pathogenesis of stroke. However, the way in which changes in astrocytic endothelin-1 lead to poststroke cognitive deficits following transient middle cerebral artery occlusion is not well understood. Here, using mice in which astrocytic endothelin-1 was overexpressed, we found that the selective overexpression of endothelin-1 by astrocytic cells led to ischemic stroke-related dementia (1 hour of ischemia; 7 days, 28 days, or 3 months of reperfusion). We also revealed that astrocytic endothelin-1 overexpression contributed to the role of neural stem cell proliferation but impaired neurogenesis in the dentate gyrus of the hippocampus after middle cerebral artery occlusion. Comprehensive proteome profiles and western blot analysis confirmed that levels of glial fibrillary acidic protein and peroxiredoxin 6, which were differentially expressed in the brain, were significantly increased in mice with astrocytic endothelin-1 overexpression in comparison with wild-type mice 28 days after ischemic stroke. Moreover, the levels of the enriched differentially expressed proteins were closely related to lipid metabolism, as indicated by Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes pathway analysis. Liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry nontargeted metabolite profiling of brain tissues showed that astrocytic endothelin-1 overexpression altered lipid metabolism products such as glycerol phosphatidylcholine, sphingomyelin, and phosphatidic acid. Overall, this study demonstrates that astrocytic endothelin-1 overexpression can impair hippocampal neurogenesis and that it is correlated with lipid metabolism in poststroke cognitive dysfunction., Competing Interests: None
