A biography of Saint Marguerite of Canada is presented. Born in 1620 into a bourgeois family, Marguerite Bourgeoys she could have enjoyed a comfortable and secure life in imperial France. Eager to try missionary work, Bourgeoys asked to be sent to the colony. She sought to establish the settlement's first school for girls. Pope Pius XII beatified Bourgeoys on November 12, 1950, and on October 31, 1982, with her canonization by Pope John Paul II, she became Canada's first woman saint.
