The aim of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to determine the performance of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in the diagnosis of bowel inflammation and disease activity in Crohn's disease (CD).MEDLINE, Embase and Web of Science databases of biomedical literature were systematically searched to identify studies that investigated the diagnostic accuracy of MRI in diagnosing bowel inflammation and disease activity in CD by comparing it with reference standards. Quality Assessment of Diagnostic Accuracy Studies-2 tool was used to assess study quality. The summary sensitivity and specificity were estimated using the bivariate model, and hierarchical summary receiver operating characteristic (HSROC) parameters were calculated and plotted.Of 5492 citations of interest, 34 articles contained the diagnostic accuracy data. Of these, results for the small bowel and the colorectum were reported separately in 19 studies and jointly by 21 studies. The meta-analytic summary sensitivity and specificity under the bivariate model were 90.9% (95% CI, 85.8%-94.2%) and 90.2% (95% CI, 81.9%-95.0%), respectively. The sensitivities and specificities of individual studies ranged from 55% to 100% and 51% to 100%, respectively. Substantial heterogeneity was observed in both sensitivity (IAlthough the meta-analytic summary accuracy of MRI was high for the diagnosis of bowel inflammation in CD, the summary estimates might be unreliable due to the presence of high heterogeneity.

Objective: Bilateral Vocal Fold Paralysis (BVFP) is a rare but significant resource of respiratory distress in neonates and infants. The objective of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and functional outcomes of Endoscopic Percutaneous Suture Lateralization (EPSL) for the treatment of BVFP in neonates and infants. Methods: A case series study of nine patients undergoing EPSL for BVFP between January 2019 and June 2021 was conducted. All patients were candidates for tracheostomy prior to EPSL. Demographic features including gender, age at diagnosis and surgery, main symptoms, airway comorbidities, airway support, and etiology were collected preoperatively. Patients were evaluated for breathing, swallowing and phonation postoperatively. Surgical success was defined as the ability to avoid tracheostomy. Functional Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) was conducted to identify aspiration. Voice evaluation was based on clinical observation. Results: Nine patients underwent ten EPSL procedures (one in the left vocal fold, and nine in the right vocal fold). Eight patients (8/9) were able to successfully avoid tracheostomy and feed orally without aspiration after the procedure. One patient experienced clinical improvement in respiratory support requirements and underwent laparoscopic nissen and gastrostomy tube placement. At the last follow-up, two patients regained normal voice, two patients had mild dysphonia, and five patients had moderate dysphonia. Five patients showed partial return of the contralateral vocal fold function. Conclusion: EPSL is an effective and safe treatment for neonatal and infantal BVFP, which enables patients free from tracheostomy without significant impact on swallowing function or phonation. Myocardial infarction (MI) is lethal to patients because of acute ischemia and hypoxia leading to cardiac tissue apoptosis. Autophagy played a key role in MI through affecting the survival of cardiomyocytes. LncRNA-MHRT (myosin heavy-chain-associated RNA transcripts) was specific to the heart and cardiomyocytes, and inhibition of lncRNA-MHRT transcription under pathological stimuli could cause cardiac hypertrophy and even heart failure (HF). Sonodynamic therapy (SDT) is a new and developing medical technique that utilizes low-intensity ultrasound to locally activate a preloaded sonosensitizer. Our group previously reported that SDT could regulate autophagy. In this study, we investigated whether SDT could reduce MI-induced cardiomyocyte apoptosis via activating autophagy pathway. SDT improved cardiac function and suppresses MI-induced cardiomyocyte apoptosis. SDT alleviated MI-induced cardiomyocyte apoptosis by improving autophagy. MHRT mediated the inhibiting effect of SDT on cardiomyocyte apoptosis via activating autophagy pathway. Our data reveal a novel effect that SDT protects against MI and confirm that SDT reduces MI-induced cardiomyocyte apoptosis via activating MHRT-mediated-autophagy. Thus, our findings also indicate that SDT may be used as a potential method for treatment of post-myocardial infarction heart failure.
