The article offers information on the study regarding the effect of haploinsufficiency of SMG1, a member of phosphoinositide kinase-like kinase proteins, to the formation of tumor and inflammation. It mentions the use of Smg1 mice which shows that insufficient Smg1 increases the risk of papillary lung adenocarcinoma and non-Hodgkin lymphoma that originates from follicular cell. It adds that the Smg1 also has role to the development of chronic inflammatory diseases.
