Manganese dioxide (MnO2) is widely used in cosmetics and self-cleaning materials because of the high refractive index and photocatalytic activity of this compound. In the present work, the surfaces of MnO2 particles were coated with a commercially available anionic phospholipid mixture, Technol PG, and sodium cholate(SC). These coated particles were readily dispersed in water and subsequently applied as films onto glass substrates by drop-casting.

In the present work, the surfaces of TiO2 nanoparticles were coated with sodium cholate and the commercially available anionic phospholipid mixture Technol PG. These surface-coated TiO2 nanoparticles could be homogeneously dispersed in water and subsequently produced films on glass substrates after drop casting.

Cannabidiol (CBD) has been used for the treatment of neuronal disease. Herein CBD was mixed with sodium cholate and Technol PG, a commercially available mixture of anionic phospholipids, which allowed for effective dispersion of the CBD in water.

Fullerene has attracted much attention for applications in biomaterials because of its high antioxidant activity. In this study, C60 and C70 fullerenes were mixed with a commercially available anionic phospholipid mixture, Technol PG, and sodium cholate, resulting in effective dispersion of the fullerenes to give small-sized fullerene nanoparticles.

In this work, the dispersibility of Technol PG, composed of anionic phospholipids, was investigated in the presence of cholic acid-based surfactants.

A mixture of 1,2-dipalmitoyl- sn-glycero-3-phosphatidylcholine (DPPC) phospholipid and sodium chelate (SC) formed bicelles (DPPC–SC bicelle) at around 50 °C. In 2H nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) measurement of the dispersion of DPPC–SC bicelle, quadrupole splitting of D2O, an index of the ability to orient molecules, was observed.

In this work, we prepared a transparent dispersion of fullerene nanoparticles by sonication with anionic phospholipids of 1,2-dipalmitoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphorylglycerol (DPPG) with fluorescently NBD-labeled 1,2-dipalmitoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphorylethanolamine (DPPE). Upon incubation of the fullerene nanoparticles with a rat skin, the nanoparticles successfully penetrated the stratum corneum and reached the epidermis.

In this work, resveratrol was dispersed with anionic phospholipids of 1,2-dipalmitoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphorylglycerol (DPPG), 1,2-dipalmitoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphatidic acid, and 1,2-distearoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoglycerol. Moreover, small-sized nanoparticles of kaempferol and indometacin were successfully prepared by using DPPG as a dispersion agent.

Small-sized DPPG-Res nanoparticles (FLRes) nanoparticles stabilized with DPPG (DPPG-FLRes) to rat skin tissue, FLRes molecules infiltrated into the epidermis layer permeating stratum corneum.

Residual dipolar coupling (RDC) is a newly emerging technique for obtaining more precise conformational features of molecules in nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), which can be observed when the molecules are oriented in NMR sample solutions. Unlike the case of solubilization of resveratrol (Res) in aqueous media by surfactants, multiglycosylated resveratrol (GlyRes) was dispersed in aqueous media forming nanoparticles with an extremely small size. In the presence of an NMR alignment medium of bacteriophage, GlyRes molecules were efficiently oriented in the strong magnetic field allowing for observations of RDCs in NMR. Structural refinement using the observed RDC values enabled differentiation of trans and cis forms of Res.

Piceid, stilbenoid glucoside, is a representative resveratrol derivative. Because of a high tyrosinase inhibitory activity of piceid through resveratrol derivatives, transdermal delivery of piceid has been desired for taking advantage of the activity. Here we successfully prepared composite nanoparticles composed of anionic phospholipid of 1,2-dipalmitoyl- sn-glycero-3-phosphorylglycerol (DPPG) and piceid by mixing them in water and a subsequent heating/cooling process. When small-sized fluorescently labeled DPPG-piceid (DPPG-FLpiceid) nanoparticles were added to rat skin tissue, FLpiceid molecules were localized in stratum corneum.

Composite nanoparticles composed of an anionic phospholipid of 1,2-dipalmitoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphorylglycerol (DPPG) and paclitaxel (PTX) were successfully prepared by mixing them in water followed by a subsequent heating/cooling process. The size of DPPG-PTX nanoparticle could be easily tuned by ultrasonic fragmentation. Upon addition of small-sized fluorescently labeled paclitaxel (FLPTX) nanoparticles with DPPG (DPPG-FLPTX) to rat skin tissue, part of the FLPTX molecules permeated to the stratum corneum.

Resveratrol derivatives containing a primary amine functional group were synthesized by an introduction of N-Boc-bromoethylamine to resveratrol using Williamson ether synthesis and subsequent deprotection of the Boc group with trifluoroacetic acid. After conjugation of fluorescent NBD-F or rhodamine B with isothiocyanate (Rhd B-ITC) using the amine group, resveratrols modified with NBD or Rhd B (Resveratrol-NBD and Resveratrol-Rhd B, respectively) were successfully obtained.
