We aimed to investigate the demographic characteristics, common chief complaints, and diagnosis of geriatric cancer-related emergency department (ED) visits and trends of ED outcomes. This retrospective observational study included all ED visits in South Korea between 2016 and 2020. The study population was older people ≥ 65 years living with cancer who visited ED with cancer-related problems. The demographics, common diagnoses, and ED outcomes were investigated. A multivariate logistic regression analysis was conducted to investigate factors associated with mortality. Geriatric cancer-related ED (GCED) visits were 746,416 cases over 5 years. The proportion of older adults among cancer-related ED visits increased from 50.1% in 2016 to 55.3% in 2020. The proportion of the "oldest old" (≥ 85 years) increased from 9.6 to 12.1%. For GCED, the ward admission rate after ED treatment was 60.2% and in-hospital mortality rate was 11.8%. Both of these increased with age group ("young old" (65–74), "middle old" (75–84), and "oldest old" (≥ 85 years) groups admission rates: 56.1%, 62.8%, and 68.0%; and mortality rates: 10.0%, 12.7%, and 15.7%, respectively). The most common diagnosis was pneumonia (4.9%). Old age and ambulance use were also associated with mortality. Older adults account for more than half of cancer-related ED visits, and their number is increasing every year. To evaluate the incidence and risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) among Korean patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) comparing them to diabetes patients and the general population. This nationwide cohort study focused on incident SLE patients aged over 40 years, matched with diabetes patients and the general population (1:4:4 ratio). CVD was defined as ischaemic heart disease, ischaemic stroke, and cardiac arrest. Incidence rate and incidence rate ratio (IRR) of CVD were calculated using generalised estimating equation models. The Fine-Gray model assessed risk factors for CVD in both SLE and diabetes patients. The study included 4272 incident SLE patients, 17,003 diabetes patients, and 17,088 from the general population. SLE patients had higher CVD risk compared to the general population, with adjusted IRRs of 1.99 for overall CVD. Diabetes patients showed increased CVD risk, but to a lesser extent, with an IRR of 1.39. SLE patients aged 40–59 years displayed a significantly elevated CVD risk. Advanced age, male gender, and current use of glucocorticoids, immunosuppressive, and anti-platelet agents were associated with increased CVD risk in SLE patients. Objectives: We assessed the value of the diffusion-weighted image (DWI) for predicting intrahepatic biliary complications (IHBC) after ABO-incompatible liver transplantation (ABOi-LT), potentially leading to refractory cholangitis. Materials and methods: In this retrospective study at a single center, 56 patients who underwent ABOi-LT from March 2021 to January 2023 were analyzed. All received magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography (MRCP) and DWI during the postoperative hospitalization. MRCP findings, including bile duct DWI hyperintensity, were assessed. Participants suspected of having a biliary infection or obstructive jaundice underwent endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) or percutaneous transhepatic biliary drainage (PTBD) during the follow-up. Non-anastomotic biliary strictures on cholangiography were classified as IHBC, as either perihilar or diffuse form. DWI hyperintensity was compared between groups with and without IHBC. Logistic regression analysis was performed to identify independent risk factors for IHBC. Results: Of the 55 participants (median age 55 years, 39 males), IHBC was diagnosed in eight patients over a median follow-up of 15.9 months (range 5.6–31.1). Bile duct DWI hyperintensity was observed in 18 patients. Those with DWI hyperintensity exhibited a higher IHBC incidence (6/18, 33.3% vs. 2/36, 5.6%; p = 0.01), and more frequently developed the diffuse type IHBC (4/18, 22.2% vs. 1/36, 2.8%; p = 0.04). Regression analysis indicated that bile duct DWI hyperintensity is an independent risk factor for IHBC (odds ratio (OR) 10.1; 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.4, 71.2; p = 0.02) and its diffuse form (OR 15.3; 95% CI 1.2, 187.8; p = 0.03). Conclusion: Postoperative DWI hyperintensity of bile ducts can serve as a biomarker predicting IHBC after ABOi-LT. Clinical relevance statement: Postoperative diffusion-weighted image hyperintensity of the bile duct can be used as a biomarker to predict intrahepatic biliary complications and aid in identifying candidates who may benefit from additional management for antibody-mediated rejection. Background: Gastric neuroendocrine carcinomas (NECs) are rare cancers with highly aggressive behavior. Although tertiary lymphoid structures (TLSs) are well-known prognostic factors in various cancers, their role in gastric NECs remain unexplored. Unique immunohistochemical subtypes of pulmonary NECs have been discovered, however, their feasibility in gastric NECs is unknown. Methods: The presence and maturation of TLSs (lymphoid aggregates, primary and secondary follicles) were assessed in 48 surgically resected gastric NECs and were compared with immunohistochemical subtypes, using a panel of ASCL1, NeuroD1, POU2F3, YAP1, and DLL3 with three neuroendocrine (NE) markers. Results: Patients with secondary follicles had significantly better overall survival (OS) and recurrence-free survival (RFS; both, p = 0.004) than those without them. Based on the hierarchical clustering, gastric NECs were classified into all low/negative (31%), high-YAP1 (19%), high-DLL3/low-NE (29%), and high-NE (21%) expression groups. The high-DLL3/low-NE group was associated with absent TLSs (p = 0.026) and showed the worst OS (p = 0.026). Distant metastasis and a lack of secondary follicles were poor independent prognostic factors of OS and RFS. Conclusion: The assessment of TLSs is a feasible and potent biomarker for gastric NECs, thus enabling better prognosis and more effective immunotherapy. This study evaluated the impact of differing false positive (FP) rates in two computer-aided detection (CADe) systems on the clinical effectiveness of artificial intelligence (AI)-assisted colonoscopy. The primary outcomes were adenoma detection rate (ADR) and adenomas per colonoscopy (APC). The ADR in the control, system A (3.2% FP rate), and system B (0.6% FP rate) groups were 44.3%, 43.4%, and 50.4%, respectively, with system B showing a significantly higher ADR than the control group. The APC for the control, A, and B groups were 0.75, 0.83, and 0.90, respectively, with system B also showing a higher APC than the control. The non-true lesion resection rates were 23.8%, 29.2%, and 21.3%, with system B having the lowest. The system with lower FP rates demonstrated improved ADR and APC without increasing the resection of non-neoplastic lesions. Multidisciplinary studies of volcanic processes and their timescales are vital for the assessment and mitigation of the risk of future volcanic disasters. Paleomagnetic and rock magnetic approaches have long been applied in diverse volcanological studies worldwide. In this review, we provide conceptual and methodological explorations of a representative suite of paleomagnetic and rock magnetic applications, and discuss their future perspectives in Korean volcanological research. These paleomagnetic and rock magnetic applications will contribute to a better understanding of volcanic and associated processes during the pre-, syn-, and post-eruption periods, and their timing and duration, and also contribute to the improvement of spatiotemporal correlations of volcanic and associated units in Korea. We investigated frequencies of HER2-low breast cancer (BC) (immunohistochemistry [IHC] 1+ or 2+ without gene amplification) before and after IHC conditions were modified in order to understand the impact of IHC staining conditions on frequencies of HER2-low BC. Primary BC cases diagnosed at the Yeungnam University Hospital (YUH, n = 728) or Keimyung University Dongsan Hospital (KUDH, n = 290) in 2022 were reviewed, and data on HER2 status and IHC conditions were collected (cohort 1). Both institutions used the 4B5 antibody for HER2 IHC but had different staining protocols. After modifications of the IHC conditions at both institutions, primary BC cases (YUH, n = 324 and KUDH, n = 135) diagnosed from April to July 2023 (cohort 2) were reviewed to assess any changes in the frequency of HER2 status. In cohort 1, of the 728 cases diagnosed at YUH, 556 (76.4%) were HER2-zero, 76 (10.4%) were HER2-low, and 96 (13.2%) were HER2-positive, and of the 290 cases diagnosed at KUDH, 135 (46.6%) were HER2-zero, 82 (28.3%) were HER2-low, and 73 (25.2%) were HER2-positive. Modifications in HER2 IHC staining conditions dramatically increased the frequencies of HER2-low BC in cohort 2 (YUH 38.9% and KUDH 49.6%), but they did not result in significant changes in the HER2-positive rates (YUH 15.4% and KUDH 25.2%) compared to cohort 1. In conclusion, minor modifications in HER2 IHC staining conditions significantly affected the frequency of HER2-low BC but had little impact on the HER2-positivity rate. The need for basement membrane extract (BME) with undefined constituents, such as Matrigel, for intestinal stem cell (ISC) culture in traditional systems poses a significant barrier that must be overcome for the development of clinical-grade, scalable, ready-to-use ISCs. Here, we propose a functional polymer-based xenogeneic-free dish for the culture of intestinal stem cells (XF-DISC), ensuring substantially prolonged maintenance of ISCs derived from 3-dimensional human intestinal organoids (ISCs3D-hIO). XF-DISC enables remarkable expandability, exhibiting a 24-fold increase in cell numbers within 30 days, with long-term maintenance of ISCs3D-hIO for more than 30 consecutive passages (>210 days). In addition, XF-DISC is fully compatible with a cell banking system. Notably, human pluripotent stem cell-derived ISCs3D-hIO cultured on XF-DISC are successfully transplanted into intestinal injury and inflammation mouse models, leading to engraftment and regeneration of damaged mouse intestinal epithelium. As a reliable and scalable xenogeneic-free ISC3D-hIO culture method, XF-DISC is highly promising for the development of regenerative ISC therapy for human intestinal diseases. Early mortality after hemodialysis (HD) initiation significantly impacts the longevity of HD patients. This study aimed to quantify the effect sizes of risk factors on mortality using various machine learning approaches. A cohort of 3284 HD patients from the CRC-ESRD (2008–2014) was analyzed. Mortality risk models were validated using logistic regression, ridge regression, lasso regression, and decision trees, as well as ensemble methods like bagging and random forest. To better handle missing data and time-series variables, a recurrent neural network (RNN) with an autoencoder was also developed. Additionally, survival models predicting hazard ratios were employed using survival analysis techniques. The analysis included 1750 prevalent and 1534 incident HD patients (mean age 58.4 ± 13.6 years, 59.3% male). Over a median follow-up of 66.2 months, the overall mortality rate was 19.3%. Random forest models achieved an AUC of 0.8321 for first-year mortality prediction, which was further improved by the RNN with autoencoder (AUC 0.8357). The survival bagging model had the highest hazard ratio predictability (C-index 0.7756). A shorter dialysis duration (< 14.9 months) and high modified Charlson comorbidity index scores (7–9) were associated with hazard ratios up to 7.76 (C-index 0.7693). Comorbidities were more influential than age in predicting early mortality. Monitoring dialysis adequacy (KT/V), RAAS inhibitor use, and urine output is crucial for assessing early prognosis. Background: Palpitations represent a common clinic complaint. Objective: To explore gender and age differences in the evaluation and outcomes of patients with palpitations in outpatient settings. Design/participants: This is a retrospective observational study of 58,543 patients with no known structural cardiac disease or arrythmias presenting to primary care and cardiology clinics in an integrated health system in California with palpitations between January 2017 and December 2021. The primary and secondary endpoints were hospitalization for arrhythmia and all-cause mortality at 1 year. Multivariable logistic regression models evaluated the association between gender, age, and outcomes. Results: Men and women were equally as likely to be started on beta-blockers (adjusted OR 0.96, 95% CI 0.90–1.02) and evaluated with electrocardiograms (adjusted OR 0.95, 95% CI 0.90–1.01) and cardiac monitors (adjusted OR 1.04, 95% CI 0.99–1.08). Patients who completed Holter or event monitors had a lower rate of hospitalization for cardiovascular disease at 1 year than those without (2.3% vs. 2.7%, p = 0.001). At 1 year, women had a lower risk of all-cause mortality (adjusted OR 0.47, 95% CI 0.35–0.64) and hospitalization for atrial fibrillation (adjusted OR 0.47, 95% CI 0.30–0.72) and arrhythmias (adjusted OR 0.73, 95% CI 0.58–0.91) compared to men. Among older women and men (≥ 80 years), there was no significant difference in 1-year all-cause mortality (adjusted OR 0.57, 95% CI 0.29–1.12), hospitalization for atrial fibrillation (adjusted OR 0.58, 95% CI 0.17–1.97), or arrhythmias (adjusted OR 1.15, 95% CI 0.12–11.07). Conclusions: There were no gender differences in referrals for cardiac monitoring or prescriptions for beta-blockers. Women had a better prognosis with a lower risk of hospitalization for arrhythmias and death at 1 year compared to men. However, 1-year risks for mortality and hospitalization for arrythmias among older women were comparable to those of older men, underscoring the importance of considering age and gender in managing patients with palpitations. Fluorescence-guided surgery has emerged as an innovative technique with promising applications in the treatment of various tumors, including colon cancer. Tumor-initiating probe yellow (TiY) has been discovered for identifying tumorigenic cells by unbiased phenotypic screening with thousands of diversity-oriented fluorescence library (DOFL) compounds in a patient-derived lung cancer cell model. This study demonstrated the clinical feasibility of TiY for tumor-specific fluorescence imaging in the tissues of patients with colorectal cancer (CRC). To evaluate the efficacy of TiY in tumor imaging, surgical specimens were obtained, consisting of 36 tissues from 18 patients with CRC, for ex vivo molecular fluorescence imaging, histology, and immunohistochemistry. Orthotopic and chemically induced CRC mice models were administered TiY topically, and distinct tumor lesions were observed in 10 min by real-time fluorescence colonoscopy and ex vivo imaging. In a hepatic metastasis mouse model using splenic injection, TiY accumulation was detected in metastatic liver lesions through fluorescence imaging. Correlation analysis between TiY intensity and protein expression, assessed via immunohistochemistry and Western blotting, revealed a positive correlation between TiY and vimentin and Zeb1, which are known as epithelial–mesenchymal transition (EMT) markers of cancers. A comparative analysis of TiY with other FDA-approved fluorescence probes such as ICG revealed greater quantitative differences in TiY fluorescence intensity between tumor and normal tissues than those observed with ICG. Altogether, these results demonstrated that TiY has a strong potential for visualizing CRC by fluorescence imaging in various preclinical models, which can be further translated for clinical use such as fluorescence-guided surgery. Traditional dental prosthetics require a significant amount of work, labor, and time. To simplify the process, a method to convert teeth scan images, scanned using an intraoral scanner, into 3D images for design was developed. Furthermore, several studies have used deep learning to automate dental prosthetic processes. Tooth images are required to train deep learning models, but they are difficult to use in research because they contain personal patient information. Therefore, we propose a method for generating virtual tooth images using image-to-image translation (pix2pix) and contextual reconstruction fill (CR-Fill). Various virtual images can be generated using pix2pix, and the images are used as training images for CR-Fill to compare the real image with the virtual image to ensure that the teeth are well-shaped and meaningful. The experimental results demonstrate that the images generated by the proposed method are similar to actual images. In addition, only using virtual images as training data did not perform well; however, using both real and virtual images as training data yielded nearly identical results to using only real images as training data. Background: Neck pain and primary headache disorders are highly prevalent in populations and clinical cohorts. Medication-overuse headache (MOH) is a treatable secondary headache, mainly developing in migraine sufferers, that accounts for the majority of patients presenting to headache clinics. Nevertheless, the association between neck pain and MOH has not been reported. This study evaluated the prevalence and clinical course of neck pain in patients with MOH before and after MOH treatment. Methods: We analyzed 635 MOH patients enrolled in a nationwide, prospective, multicenter MOH registry. Demographics and clinical data were collected at baseline and 3 months to evaluate changes in the status and severity of neck pain and headache. Severity of neck pain was graded into 4 groups, and severe neck pain was defined as grade 3 or 4. Results: Among 635 patients with MOH, 366 (57.6%) reported neck pain at baseline. MOH patients with neck pain had an earlier onset of their primary headache disorder (23.4 ± 12.7 vs. 26.2 ± 13.3 years, p = 0.007). Although monthly headache days were comparable between the patients with neck pain and those without neck pain, the neck pain group had higher levels of anxiety (7.4 ± 5.8 vs. 6.4 ± 5.4, p = 0.017), more severe cutaneous allodynia (2.4 ± 3.3 vs. 1.8 ± 3.0, p = 0.038), and poorer quality of life (171.7 ± 70.4 vs. 184.0 ± 68.9, p = 0.029). At 3 months, 456 (71.8%) were followed-up, and 257 (56.4%) were recovered from MOH. Compared to the baseline, the proportion of severe neck pain (40.4% vs. 19.4%, p < 0.001) was decreased. The proportion of severe neck pain was much lower in patients with recovery from MOH compared to those without (4.7% vs. 15.1%, p < 0.001). Conclusions: Neck pain in MOH patients was associated with earlier onset of headache, higher levels of anxiety and allodynia, and poorer quality of life. Improvement in neck pain improvement was linked to recovery from MOH. These findings suggest the potential importance of integrating and management of neck pain into clinical practice for MOH. Objective: To assess the prognostic impact of preoperative MRI features on outcomes for single large hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) (≥ 8 cm) after surgical resection. Material and methods: This retrospective study included 151 patients (mean age: 59.2 years; 126 men) with a single large HCC who underwent gadoxetic acid-enhanced MRI and surgical resection between 2008 and 2020. Clinical variables, including tumor markers and MRI features (tumor size, tumor margin, and the proportion of hypovascular component on hepatic arterial phase (AP) (≥ 50% vs. < 50% tumor volume) were evaluated. Cox proportional hazards model analyzed overall survival (OS), recurrence-free survival (RFS), and associated factors. Results: Among 151 HCCs, 37.8% and 62.2% HCCs were classified as ≥ 50% and < 50% AP hypovascular groups, respectively. The 5- and 10-year OS and RFS rates in all patients were 62.0%, 52.6% and 41.4%, 38.5%, respectively. Multivariable analysis revealed that ≥ 50% AP hypovascular group (hazard ratio [HR] 1.7, p = 0.048), tumor size (HR 1.1, p = 0.006), and alpha-fetoprotein ≥ 400 ng/mL (HR 2.6, p = 0.001) correlated with poorer OS. ≥ 50% AP hypovascular group (HR 1.9, p = 0.003), tumor size (HR 1.1, p = 0.023), and non-smooth tumor margin (HR 2.1, p = 0.009) were linked to poorer RFS. One-year RFS rates were lower in the ≥ 50% AP hypovascular group than in the < 50% AP hypovascular group (47.4% vs 66.9%, p = 0.019). Conclusion: MRI with ≥ 50% AP hypovascular component and larger tumor size were significant factors associated with poorer OS and RFS after resection of single large HCC (≥ 8 cm). These patients require careful multidisciplinary management to determine optimal treatment strategies. Background: Nivolumab + chemotherapy is now a standard of care for HER2-negative, previously untreated, unresectable or recurrent gastric/gastroesophageal junction cancer (advanced gastric cancer), but long-term follow-up data of clinical trials are limited. Methods: ATTRACTON-4 was a phase 3, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial in Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan. Patients were randomized to either nivolumab or placebo, both combined with the physician's choice of SOX (oral S-1 [tegafur–gimeracil–oteracil potassium] + oxaliplatin) or CAPOX (capecitabine + oxaliplatin). We report the primary endpoints—centrally assessed progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS)—and landmark analyses of OS among patients alive using 3-year follow-up data. Results: At the cutoff date (May 10, 2021), 17/359 patients in the nivolumab + chemotherapy group and 6/358 in the placebo + chemotherapy group were continuing study treatment. PFS (centrally assessed) was longer in the nivolumab + chemotherapy group (median 10.94 vs. 8.48 months; hazard ratio [HR] 0.67, 95% confidence interval [CI] 0.55–0.82). Although OS did not differ between the two groups (median 17.45 vs. 17.15 months; HR 0.89, 95% CI 0.75–1.05), the landmark analysis of OS, calculating HRs at each landmark time point (every month), was getting numerically better in the nivolumab + chemotherapy group over time. Approximately 80% of patients who achieved complete response in the nivolumab + chemotherapy group were alive at 3 years. No new safety signals or major late-onset select treatment-related adverse events were observed for nivolumab + chemotherapy. Conclusion: This 3-year follow-up of ATTRACTION-4 confirmed the long-term clinical benefit and manageable safety of nivolumab + chemotherapy in patients with previously untreated advanced gastric cancer. Low-dose computed tomography (LDCT) scans are essential in reducing radiation exposure but often suffer from significant image noise that can impair diagnostic accuracy. While deep learning approaches have enhanced LDCT denoising capabilities, the predominant reliance on objective metrics like PSNR and SSIM has resulted in over-smoothed images that lack critical detail. This paper explores advanced deep learning methods tailored specifically to improve perceptual quality in LDCT images, focusing on generating diagnostic-quality images preferred in clinical practice. We review and compare current methodologies, including perceptual loss functions and generative adversarial networks, addressing the significant limitations of current benchmarks and the subjective nature of perceptual quality evaluation. Through a systematic analysis, this study underscores the urgent need for developing methods that balance both perceptual and diagnostic quality, proposing new directions for future research in the field. The BRCA1/2 pathogenic variant (PV) increases the risk of breast and ovarian cancer; thus, risk-reducing salpingo-oophorectomy (RRSO) and mastectomy (RRM) are recommended. We evaluated the effects of the graphical display of cancer risk compared with those of numerical presentation on the decision-making for risk-reducing (RR) surgery. A total of 471 women representing the Korean population were recruited. The lifetime risk of breast/ovarian cancer were given numerically followed by graphically in hypothetical BRCA1/2 PV-positive cases. Subsequently, the study participants were asked for their willingness to undergo RRSO/RRM. When the ovarian cancer risk was shown as 44.0%, the percentage of study participants who chose RRSO was 41.0% after numerical presentation versus 39.9% after graphical display, of which the difference was not significant. The intricate network of protein-chaperone interactions is crucial for maintaining cellular function. Recent discoveries have unveiled the existence of specialized chaperone assemblies, known as epichaperomes, which serve as scaffolding platforms that orchestrate the reconfiguration of protein-protein interaction networks, thereby enhancing cellular adaptability and proliferation. This study explores the structural and regulatory aspects of epichaperomes, with a particular focus on the role of post-translational modifications (PTMs) in their formation and function. A key finding is the identification of specific PTMs on HSP90, particularly at residues Ser226 and Ser255 within an intrinsically disordered region, as critical determinants of epichaperome assembly. Our data demonstrate that phosphorylation of these serine residues enhances HSP90's interactions with other chaperones and co-chaperones, creating a microenvironment conducive to epichaperome formation. Moreover, we establish a direct link between epichaperome function and cellular physiology, particularly in contexts where robust proliferation and adaptive behavior are essential, such as in cancer and pluripotent stem cell maintenance. The Suwolbong tuff ring is a basaltic monogenetic volcano in the Quaternary intraplate volcanic field of Jeju Island, Korea. The tuff ring was formerly interpreted to have had a congested magma plumbing system consisting of multiply-sourced dike complexes, based on stepped and mixed chemical trends of alkaline to sub-alkaline glassy pyroclasts. Microscopic observations, petrological analysis, and componentry analysis of the glassy pyroclasts reveal, however, that some of the glassy pyroclasts in the tuff ring are accidental and inappropriate for interpreting magmatic processes. Juvenile particles are vesicular, alkaline in composition, mainly contain olivine, clinopyroxene, and plagioclase phenocrysts, and comprise about 35 vol% of the deposits. In contrast, accidental particles are non-vesicular, alkaline to subalkaline in composition, less abundant (avg. 8 vol%), and show alteration rims. The accidental particles are interpreted to have been derived from the volcaniclastic layers deposited before the eruption of the Suwolbong tuff ring. When removing the effects of the accidental particles and considering only the geochemical characteristics of the newly defined juvenile particles, the Suwolbong tuff ring is interpreted to have had a rather simple, not necessarily congested, plumbing system fed by independently ascending multiple magma batches. This study shows that the interpretation of the properties of the source magma and the magma plumbing system in monogenetic volcanoes must be performed after clearly distinguishing between juvenile and accidental particles based on rigorous microscopic analysis of pyroclastic materials. Purpose: This study has a purpose to investigate the side effects of three EGFR-TKIs targeted therapeutic agents (gefitinib, erlotinib, and afatinib) and all-cause mortality in patients with metastatic lung cancer. Methods: We performed a prospective cohort study. We selected all patients with newly diagnosed metastatic lung cancer between January and November 2019. Main exposure was daytime versus nighttime use of targeted EGFR TKIs. The study outcome was a symptom change using the mobile application, and all-cause mortality between January 2019 and March 2023. Results: Among the 87 study participants, 35 (40%) took their medication at night. Among the 87 study participants, 35 (40%) took their medication at night. At 6 weeks of treatment, acne (1.36; 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.09, 1.64; p for interaction = 0.04) and dry skin (1.35; 95% CI 1.09, 1.61, p for interaction = 0.01) in the day group showed a much increase from baseline compared to the night group. In contrast, the night group reported greater reductions in lung cancer–related symptoms from baseline compared to the day. During follow-up (median 43 months), the night group had a lower risk of all-cause death than the day group, especially in younger patients (adjusted hazard ratio = 0.34; 95% CI 0.13, 0.87). Conclusions: The group taking EGFR-TKIs at night experienced fewer side effects and had longer overall survival compared to the day group. Clinicians should consider recommending that lung cancer patients take their once-daily oral anticancer drugs in the evening rather than the morning to improve treatment outcomes. Anti-cluster of differentiation (CD) 3 × α programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) bispecific T-cell engager (BsTE)-bound T-cells (BsTE:T) are a promising new cancer treatment agent. However, the mechanisms of action of bispecific antibody-armed activated T-cells are poorly understood. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the anti-tumor mechanism and efficacy of BsTE:T. The BsTE:T migration was assessed in vivo and in vitro using syngeneic and xenogeneic tumor models, flow cytometry, immunofluorescence staining, transwell migration assays, microfluidic chips, Exo View R100, western blotting, and clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats (CRISPR)/CRISPR-associated protein 9 technology. In murine B16 melanoma, MC38 colon cancer, and human multiple myeloma cells, BsTE:T exhibited superior tumor elimination relative to that of T-cells or BsTE alone. Moreover, BsTE:T migration into tumors was significantly enhanced owing to the presence of PD-L1 in tumor cells and secretion of PD-L1-containing exosomes. Furthermore, increased infiltration of CD44highCD62Llow effector memory CD8+ T-cells into tumors was closely associated with the anti-tumor effect of BsTE:T. Abstract The Rv2626c protein of Mycobacterium tuberculosis is a promising vaccine candidate owing to its strong serum antibody response in patients with tuberculosis. However, there is limited information regarding the intracellular response induced by Rv2626c in macrophages. In this study, we demonstrated that Rv2626c interacts with the RING domain of TRAF6 and inhibits lysine (K) 63‐linked polyubiquitination of TRAF6 (E3 ubiquitin ligase activity); this results in the suppression of TLR4 inflammatory signaling in macrophages. Furthermore, we showed that the C‐terminal 123–131‐amino acid Rv2626c motif promotes macrophage recruitment, phagocytosis, M2 macrophage polarization, and subsequent bacterial clearance. We developed rRv2626c‐CA, a conjugated peptide containing the C‐terminal 123–131‐amino acid Rv2626c that targets macrophages, penetrates the cell membrane, and has demonstrated significant therapeutic effects in a mouse model of cecal ligation and puncture‐induced sepsis. This multifunctional rRv2626c‐CA has considerably improved potency, with an IC50 that is 250‐fold (in vitro) or 1,000‐fold (in vivo) lower than that of rRv2626c‐WT. Background: Detection and localization of cerebral microbleeds (CMBs) is crucial for disease diagnosis and treatment planning. However, CMB detection is labor-intensive, time-consuming, and challenging owing to its visual similarity to mimics. This study aimed to validate the performance of a three-dimensional (3D) deep learning model that not only detects CMBs but also identifies their anatomic location in real-world settings. Methods: A total of 21 patients with 116 CMBs and 12 without CMBs were visited in the neurosurgery outpatient department between January 2023 and October 2023. Three readers, including a board-certified neuroradiologist (reader 1), a resident in radiology (reader 2), and a neurosurgeon (reader 3) independently reviewed SWIs of 33 patients to detect CMBs and categorized their locations into lobar, deep, and infratentorial regions without any AI assistance. After a one-month washout period, the same datasets were redistributed randomly, and readers reviewed them again with the assistance of the 3D deep learning model. A comparison of the diagnostic performance between readers with and without AI assistance was performed. Results: All readers with an AI assistant (reader 1:0.991 [0.930–0.999], reader 2:0.922 [0.881–0.905], and reader 3:0.966 [0.928–0.984]) tended to have higher sensitivity per lesion than readers only (reader 1:0.905 [0.849–0.942], reader 2:0.621 [0.541–0.694], and reader 3:0.871 [0.759–0.935], p = 0.132, 0.017, and 0.227, respectively). In particular, radiology residents (reader 2) showed a statistically significant increase in sensitivity per lesion when using AI. There was no statistically significant difference in the number of FPs per patient for all readers with AI assistant (reader 1: 0.394 [0.152–1.021], reader 2: 0.727 [0.334–1.582], reader 3: 0.182 [0.077–0.429]) and reader only (reader 1: 0.364 [0.159–0.831], reader 2: 0.576 [0.240–1.382], reader 3: 0.121 [0.038–0.383], p = 0.853, 0.251, and 0.157, respectively). Our model accurately categorized the anatomical location of all CMBs. Conclusions: Our model demonstrated promising potential for the detection and anatomical localization of CMBs, although further research with a larger and more diverse population is necessary to establish clinical utility in real-world settings. The spin-orbit assisted Mott insulator α-RuCl3 is a prime candidate for material realization of the Kitaev quantum spin liquid. While little attention has been paid to charge degrees of freedom, charge effects, such as electric polarization, may arise in this system. Here, we report distortion-induced local electric polarization in α-RuCl3 as evidenced by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, second harmonic generation (SHG) and dielectric measurements. The SHG signal appears at room temperature and develops substantially in the Kitaev paramagnetic state when short-range spin correlations come into play. Despite sizable pyroelectric currents in the Kitaev paramagnetic state, the absence of hysteresis in the polarization-electric field (P-E) points to the short-range nature of electric polarization. This localized electric polarization is likely the result of distortion-induced charge dimerization, achieved through virtual hopping-induced charge redistribution. In addition, the electric polarization is boosted by short-range spin correlations via spin-phonon coupling in the Kitaev paramagnetic state. Food processing industries commonly employ organic acids (OAAs) to determine bacterial contamination in acidified and fermented foods. OAAs are believed to possess potent antimicrobial properties by permeating cell membranes, altering proton and anion concentrations in the cytoplasm due to their lipophilic undissociated forms. The bacteriostatic or bactericidal effects of OAAs are influenced by various factors including microbial physiology, environmental pH, and acid dissociation ratios. Despite their utility, the precise mechanisms underlying OAA-mediated inhibition of pathogenic bacteria remain incompletely understood. Therefore, the objectives of this review are to compile a selected area of researches that focus on the current propensity of different OAAs for inactivating food-borne pathogens, and then to present a theoretical insight on the use of OAAs to prevent and control pathogenic bacteria present in acidic/acidified foods and their mode of mechanisms. The study aimed to evaluate the synergistic interaction of organic acids (OAAs) or lemon extract (LE) plus mild heat (MH; 55 °C) against Escherichia coli O157:H7, Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium, and Listeria monocytogenes inoculated in beetroot and watermelon juices. A mixed culture cocktail of E. coli O157:H7, S. Typhimurium or L. monocytogenes was inoculated in beetroot or watermelon juice, followed by treatments with MH, citric acid + MH, malic acid + MH, tartaric acid + MH, and LE + MH. Approximately < 2.0-log reductions in the number of E. coli O157:H7, S. Typhimurium, and L. monocytogenes were observed when these bacteria were heated in juices at 55 °C for 5 min. Background and Objectives: The diagnostic challenge of myasthenia gravis (MG) is exacerbated by the variable efficacy of current testing methodologies, necessitating innovative approaches to accurately identify the condition. This study aimed to assess ocular muscle fatigue in patients with MG using video-oculography (VOG) by examining repetitive saccadic eye movements and comparing these metrics to those of healthy control participants. Methods: This prospective, cross-sectional study was conducted at a tertiary care center and involved 62 patients diagnosed with MG (48 with ocular MG and 14 with generalized MG) and a control group of 31 healthy individuals, matched for age and sex. The assessment involved recording saccadic eye movements within a ± 15° range, both horizontally and vertically, at a rate of 15 saccades per minute over a 5-min period, resulting in 75 cycles. Participants were afforded a 3-min rest interval between each set to mitigate cumulative fatigue. The primary outcome was the detection of oculomotor fatigue, assessed through changes in saccadic waveforms, range, peak velocity, latency, and the duration from onset to target, with a focus on comparing the second saccade against the average of the last five saccades. Results: In the evaluation of repetitive saccadic movements, patients with MG exhibited a reduced saccadic range and a prolonged duration to reach the target, compared to healthy subjects. Furthermore, a significant elevation in the frequency of multistep saccades was observed among MG patients, with a marked rise observed over consecutive trials. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis revealed the discriminative performance of multistep saccade frequency, in conjunction with variations in saccadic range and duration from onset to target achievement between the second saccade and the mean of the final five saccades, as effective in distinguishing MG patients from healthy subjects. Although alterations in peak saccadic velocity and latency were less pronounced, they were nevertheless detectable. Discussion: The utilization of VOG for repetitive saccadic testing in the diagnosis of MG has demonstrated considerable diagnostic precision. Purpose: To develop a deep learning (DL) model for generating automated regions of interest (ROIs) on 99mTc-diethylenetriamine pentaacetic acid (DTPA) renal scans for glomerular filtration rate (GFR) measurement. Methods: Manually-drawn ROIs retrieved from a Picture Archiving and Communications System were used as ground-truth (GT) labels. A two-dimensional U-Net convolutional neural network architecture with multichannel input was trained to generate DL ROIs. The agreement between GFR values from GT and DL ROIs was evaluated using Lin's concordance correlation coefficient (CCC) and slope coefficients for linear regression analyses. Bias and 95% limits of agreement (LOA) were assessed using Bland-Altman plots. Results: A total of 24,364 scans (12,822 patients) were included. Excellent concordance between GT and DL GFR was found for left (CCC 0.982, 95% confidence interval [CI] 0.981–0.982; slope 1.004, 95% CI 1.003–1.004), right (CCC 0.969, 95% CI 0.968–0.969; slope 0.954, 95% CI 0.953–0.955) and both kidneys (CCC 0.978, 95% CI 0.978–0.979; slope 0.979, 95% CI 0.978–0.979). Bland-Altman analysis revealed minimal bias between GT and DL GFR, with mean differences of − 0.2 (95% LOA − 4.4–4.0), 1.4 (95% LOA − 3.5–6.3) and 1.2 (95% LOA − 6.5–8.8) mL/min/1.73 m² for left, right and both kidneys, respectively. Notably, 19,960 scans (81.9%) showed an absolute difference in GFR of less than 5 mL/min/1.73 m². Conclusion: Our DL model exhibited excellent performance in the generation of ROIs on 99mTc-DTPA renal scans. Medication overuse headache (MOH) is a chronic headache disorder that results from excessive use of acutely symptomatic headache medications, leading to more frequent and severe headaches. This study aims to assess the 3-month treatment outcomes in MOH patients, focusing on the types and usage of overused medications, as well as preventive treatments. This prospective cross-sectional study analyzed the treatment outcomes of 309 MOH patients from April 2020 to March 2022. Patients were advised to discontinue overused medications immediately and offered preventive treatments based on clinical judgment. Data on headache characteristics, medication use, and impact on daily life were collected at baseline and 3 months. Results showed overall significant improvements in headache-related variables in patients completing the 3-month treatment follow-up. The median number of headache days per month decreased from 15 days at baseline to 8 days after 3 months (p < 0.001). Patients who overused multiple drug classes demonstrated increased disability levels (mean Headache Impact Test-6 score: 62 at baseline vs. 56 at 3 months, p < 0.01). Those who continued overusing medications reported more days of severe headache (mean 18 days at baseline vs. 14 days at 3 months, p < 0.05) and greater impact (mean Migraine Disability Assessment score: 35 at baseline vs. 28 after 3 months, p < 0.05) compared to the baseline. Differences in headache outcomes were evident across different preventive treatment groups, with generalized estimating equation analyses highlighting significant associations between clinical characteristics, overused medication classes, and preventive treatments. Most MOH clinical features significantly improved after 3 months of treatment. However, notable interactions were observed with certain clinical presentations, suggesting possible influences of overused medication classes, usage patterns, and preventive treatment types on MOH treatment outcomes. KCNQ4 is a voltage-gated K+ channel was reported to distribute over the basolateral surface of type 1 vestibular hair cell and/or inner surface of calyx and heminode of the vestibular nerve connected to the type 1 vestibular hair cells of the inner ear. However, the precise localization of KCNQ4 is still controversial and little is known about the vestibular phenotypes caused by KCNQ4 dysfunction or the specific role of KCNQ4 in the vestibular organs. To investigate the role of KCNQ4 in the vestibular organ, 6-g hypergravity stimulation for 24 h, which represents excessive mechanical stimulation of the sensory epithelium, was applied to p.W277S Kcnq4 transgenic mice. KCNQ4 was detected on the inner surface of calyx of the vestibular afferent in transmission electron microscope images with immunogold labelling. Vestibular function decrease was more severe in the Kcnq4p.W277S/p.W277S mice than in the Kcnq4+/+ and Kcnq4+/p.W277S mice after the stimulation. The vestibular function loss was resulted from the loss of type 1 vestibular hair cells, which was possibly caused by increased depolarization duration. Retigabine, a KCNQ activator, prevented hypergravity-induced vestibular dysfunction and hair cell loss. Patients with KCNQ4 mutations also showed abnormal clinical vestibular function tests. These findings suggest that KCNQ4 plays an essential role in calyx and afferent of type 1 vestibular hair cell preserving vestibular function against excessive mechanical stimulation. Background: Regular brushing is the most popular oral hygiene technique and using additional interdental cleaning tools like dental floss and oral rinse (OR) is advised. The objective of this study was to examine the efficacy of ORs containing 0.045% cetylpyridinium chloride (CPC) on oral health-related parameters in a 4-week-long double-blinded and randomized clinical trial. Methods: Seventy-four subjects were assigned to four groups: two control groups that used non-CPC-containing ORs (C1 [n = 20], C2 [n = 19]) and two groups that used CPC-containing ORs (immediate-use CPC [IUC] [n = 16], concentrated-use CPC [CUC] [n = 19]). The subjects were instructed to gargle with 20 mL of the ORs for 30 s after brushing their teeth thrice a day for 4 weeks. There was a substantial decrease in the levels of volatile sulfur compounds after the use of the ORs. Results: The Turesky modification of the Quigley–Hein Plaque Index and Löe and Silness Gingival Index showed a decreasing trend after the intervention, but not at a significant level. The Tongue Coating Index also showed a decrease in the intervention groups, but not in the control groups. Surprisingly, in both formulations, the inclusion of CPC in OR dramatically decreased the growth of aerobic bacteria in the mouth by expressed CFU/mL in both treatment groups. This study determined whether compared to conventional mechanical ventilation (MV), extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) is associated with decreased hospital mortality or fibrotic changes in patients with COVID-19 acute respiratory distress syndrome. A cohort of 72 patients treated with ECMO and 390 with conventional MV were analyzed (February 2020–December 2021). A target trial was emulated comparing the treatment strategies of initiating ECMO vs no ECMO within 7 days of MV in patients with a PaO2/FiO2 < 80 or a PaCO2 ≥ 60 mmHg. A total of 222 patients met the eligibility criteria for the emulated trial, among whom 42 initiated ECMO. ECMO was associated with a lower risk of hospital mortality (hazard ratio [HR], 0.56; 95% confidence interval [CI] 0.36–0.96). The risk was lower in patients who were younger (age < 70 years), had less comorbidities (Charlson comorbidity index < 2), underwent prone positioning before ECMO, and had driving pressures ≥ 15 cmH2O at inclusion. Furthermore, ECMO was associated with a lower risk of fibrotic changes (HR, 0.30; 95% CI 0.11–0.70). Background: Currently, there is a relative lack of detailed reports regarding clinical presentation and outcome of idiopathic intracranial hypertension in Asians. This study aims to describe the clinical features and treatment outcomes of Korean patients with idiopathic intracranial hypertension. Methods: We prospectively recruited patients with idiopathic intracranial hypertension from one hospital and retrospectively analyzed the medical records of 11 hospitals in Korea. We collected data regarding preceding medical conditions or suspected medication exposure, headache phenotypes, other associated symptoms, detailed neuroimaging findings, treatments, and outcomes after 1–2 and 3–6 months of treatment. Results: Fifty-nine (83.1% women) patients were included. The mean body mass index was 29.11 (standard deviation, 5.87) kg/m2; only 27 patients (45.8%) had a body mass index of ≥ 30 kg/m2. Fifty-one (86.4%) patients experienced headaches, patterns of which included chronic migraine (15/51 [29.4%]), episodic migraine (8/51 [15.7%]), probable migraine (4/51 [7.8%]), chronic tension-type headache (3/51 [5.9%]), episodic tension-type headache (2/51 [3.9%]), probable tension-type headache (2/51 [3.9%]), and unclassified (17/51 [33.3%]). Medication overuse headache was diagnosed in 4/51 (7.8%) patients. After 3–6 months of treatment, the intracranial pressure normalized in 8/32 (25.0%), improved in 17/32 (53.1%), no changed in 7/32 (21.9%), and worsened in none. Over the same period, headaches remitted or significantly improved by more than 50% in 24/39 patients (61.5%), improved less than 50% in 9/39 (23.1%), and persisted or worsened in 6/39 (15.4%) patients. Conclusion: Our findings suggest that the features of Asian patients with idiopathic intracranial hypertension may be atypical (i.e., less likely obese, less female predominance). A wide spectrum of headache phenotypes was observed. Medical treatment resulted in overall favorable short-term outcomes; however, the headaches did not improve in a small proportion of patients. There are numerous prognostic predictive models for evaluating mortality risk, but current scoring models might not fully cater to sepsis patients’ needs. This study developed and validated a new model for sepsis patients that is suitable for any care setting and accurately forecasts 28-day mortality. The derivation dataset, gathered from 20 hospitals between September 2019 and December 2021, contrasted with the validation dataset, collected from 15 hospitals from January 2022 to December 2022. In this study, 7436 patients were classified as members of the derivation dataset, and 2284 patients were classified as members of the validation dataset. The point system model emerged as the optimal model among the tested predictive models for foreseeing sepsis mortality. For community-acquired sepsis, the model’s performance was satisfactory (derivation dataset AUC: 0.779, 95% CI 0.765–0.792; validation dataset AUC: 0.787, 95% CI 0.765–0.810). Similarly, for hospital-acquired sepsis, it performed well (derivation dataset AUC: 0.768, 95% CI 0.748–0.788; validation dataset AUC: 0.729, 95% CI 0.687–0.770). This article discusses the use of video-oculography (VOG) as a diagnostic tool for myasthenia gravis (MG), a neuromuscular disorder characterized by muscle weakness and fatigue. The case study presented describes a young male patient with intermittent double vision, which improved with rest and closure of either eye. Despite negative results from standard diagnostic tests, an in-depth VOG assessment revealed significant oculomotor fatigability during repetitive saccadic movements at higher frequencies. The patient was diagnosed with probable MG and started on medication, resulting in symptom improvement. Despite increased awareness and availability of genetic testing for hereditary breast and ovarian cancer (HBOC) syndrome for over 20 years, there is still significant underuse of cascade genetic testing among at-risk relatives. This scoping review synthesized evidence regarding psychosocial barriers and facilitators of family communication and/or uptake of cascade genetic testing in relatives from HBOC families. Search terms included 'hereditary breast and ovarian cancer' and 'cascade genetic testing' for studies published from 2012–2022. Through searching common databases, and manual search of references, 480 studies were identified after excluding duplications. Each article was reviewed by two researchers independently and 20 studies were included in the final analysis. CASP, RoBANS 2.0, RoB 2.0, and MMAT were used to assess the quality of included studies. A convergent data synthesis method was used to integrate evidence from quantitative and narrative data into categories and subcategories. Evidence points to 3 categories and 12 subcategories of psychosocial barriers and facilitators for cascade testing: (1) facilitators (belief in health protection and prevention; family closeness; decisional empowerment; family support, sense of responsibility; self-efficacy; supportive health professionals); (2) bidirectional concepts (information; perception of genetic/cancer consequences; negative emotions and attitude); and (3) barriers (negative reactions from family and negative family dynamics). Healthcare providers need to systematically evaluate these psychosocial factors, strengthen facilitators and alleviate barriers to promote informed decision-making for communication of genetic test results and uptake of genetic testing. Bidirectional factors merit special consideration and tailored approaches, as they can potentially have a positive or negative influence on family communication and uptake of genetic testing. The safety and quality of fresh-cut melons is reduced by a series of decay processes by enzymatic browning and microbial contamination. This study aimed to assess the impact of a 2% sodium alginate-based edible coating (ALC) combined with diferent concentrations of citric acid (CA; 0.5%, 1%, 2%, and 3%) on the microbial safety and physical quality of fresh-cut melons during a 7-day storage period at 10 °C. The fndings revealed that the combination of ALC and 3% CA was successful in preventing the growth of pathogenic bacteria (Escherichia coli O157:H7, Salmonella spp., Listeria monocytogenes, and Staphylococcus aureus) and natural microfora on fresh-cut melons during storage. In addition, treating fresh-cut melons with ALC containing 3% CA improved their quality by reducing browning and softening during storage at 10 °C. Background: Kabuki Syndrome is a rare and genetically heterogenous condition with both ophthalmic and systemic complications and typical facial features. We detail the macular phenotype in two unrelated patients with Kabuki syndrome due to de novo nonsense variants in KMT2D, one novel. A follow-up of 10 years is reported. Pathogenicity of both de novo nonsense variants is analyzed. Methods: Four eyes of two young patients were studied by full clinical examination, kinetic perimetry, short wavelength autofluorescence, full field (ff) ERGs, and spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT). One patient had adaptive optic (AO) imaging. Whole exome sequencing was performed in both patients. Results: Both patients had de novo nonsense variants in KMTD2. One patient had c.14843C>G; p. (Ser4948ter) novel variant and the second c.11119C>T; p. (Arg3707ter). Both had a stable Snellen visual acuity of 0.2–0.3. The retinal multimodal imaging demonstrated abnormalities at the fovea in both eyes: hyperreflectivity to blue light and a well-delimited gap—disruption of ellipsoid and interdigitation layer on OCT. The dark area on AO imaging is presumed to be absent for, or with structural change to photoreceptors. The ff ERGs and kinetic visual fields were normal. The foveal findings remained stable over several years. Conclusion: Kabuki syndrome–related maculopathy is a distinct loss of photoreceptors at the fovea as shown by multimodal imaging including, for the first time, AO imaging. This report adds to the literature of only one case with maculopathy with two additional macular dystrophies in patients with Kabuki syndrome. Although underestimated, these cases further raise awareness of the potential impact of retinal manifestations of Kabuki syndrome not only among ophthalmologists but also other healthcare professionals involved in the care of patients with this multisystem disorder. Wireless modules that provide telecommunications and power-harvesting capabilities enabled by radio-frequency (RF) electronics are vital components of skin-interfaced stretchable electronics1–7. However, recent studies on stretchable RF components have demonstrated that substantial changes in electrical properties, such as a shift in the antenna resonance frequency, occur even under relatively low elastic strains8–15. Such changes lead directly to greatly reduced wireless signal strength or power-transfer efficiency in stretchable systems, particularly in physically dynamic environments such as the surface of the skin. Here we present strain-invariant stretchable RF electronics capable of completely maintaining the original RF properties under various elastic strains using a ‘dielectro-elastic’ material as the substrate. Dielectro-elastic materials have physically tunable dielectric properties that effectively avert frequency shifts arising in interfacing RF electronics. Compared with conventional stretchable substrate materials, our material has superior electrical, mechanical and thermal properties that are suitable for high-performance stretchable RF electronics. In this paper, we describe the materials, fabrication and design strategies that serve as the foundation for enabling the strain-invariant behaviour of key RF components based on experimental and computational studies. Finally, we present a set of skin-interfaced wireless healthcare monitors based on strain-invariant stretchable RF electronics with a wireless operational distance of up to 30 m under strain.Stretchable radio-frequency electronics based on a dielectro-elastic elastomer is demonstrated to be capable of completely maintaining operating frequencies unaffected by strain and shows superior electrical, mechanical and thermal properties compared with conventional stretchable substrate materials. Platinum-based chemotherapy is the cornerstone treatment for female high-grade serous ovarian carcinoma (HGSOC), but choosing an appropriate treatment for patients hinges on their responsiveness to it. Currently, no available biomarkers can promptly predict responses to platinum-based treatment. Therefore, we developed the Pathologic Risk Classifier for HGSOC (PathoRiCH), a histopathologic image–based classifier. PathoRiCH was trained on an in-house cohort (n = 394) and validated on two independent external cohorts (n = 284 and n = 136). The PathoRiCH-predicted favorable and poor response groups show significantly different platinum-free intervals in all three cohorts. Combining PathoRiCH with molecular biomarkers provides an even more powerful tool for the risk stratification of patients. The decisions of PathoRiCH are explained through visualization and a transcriptomic analysis, which bolster the reliability of our model's decisions. PathoRiCH exhibits better predictive performance than current molecular biomarkers. PathoRiCH will provide a solid foundation for developing an innovative tool to transform the current diagnostic pipeline for HGSOC. This document provides clinical practice guidelines for the treatment of esophagogastric junction (EGJ) cancer. The guidelines were developed through an international consensus meeting and are intended for clinicians, healthcare professionals, and patients. The recommendations are based on a systematic review of the literature and were determined through a voting process. The document discusses various clinical questions related to the surgical management of EGJ cancer, including surgical approaches, lymph node dissection, minimally invasive surgery, and surgical resection for oligo-metastasis. The evidence level for these recommendations is weak, and further research is needed. The document also discusses the use of white light endoscopy alone versus combined with image-enhanced endoscopy for the detection of superficial neoplasia at the gastroesophageal junction zone. β-Lactam is one of the widely used veterinary drugs, but simultaneous analytical methods for β-lactam on various animal foods have not been established. In this study, we aimed to detect 34 β-lactam antibiotics simultaneously in livestock samples (beef, pork, chicken, egg, and milk) by liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC–MS/MS). Samples were extracted using phosphate buffer/acetonitrile or water/acetonitrile and then cleaned with 150 mg of C18 and 900 mg of MgSO4. The method showed acceptable recovery and repeatability of 66.1–119% and 1.5–26%, respectively. The method was employed to monitor 127 real samples from the domestic market to confirm its applicability, and no β-lactam residues were detected. It was also applied to other matrices (eel, flat fish, and shrimp) and showed acceptable recovery (62.1–120%) and repeatability (1.0–28%). The study aimed to explore the impact of a novel near-infrared LED (nNIR) with an extended spectrum on skin enhancement and hair growth. Various LED sources, including White and nNIRs, were compared across multiple parameters: cytotoxicity, adenosine triphosphate (ATP) synthesis, reactive oxygen species (ROS) reduction, skin thickness, collagen synthesis, collagenase expression, and hair follicle growth. Experiments were conducted on human skin cells and animal models. Cytotoxicity, ATP synthesis, and ROS reduction were evaluated in human skin cells exposed to nNIRs and Whites. LED irradiation effects were also studied on a UV-induced photoaging mouse model, analyzing skin thickness, collagen synthesis, and collagenase expression. Hair growth promotion was examined as well. Results revealed both White and nNIR were non-cytotoxic to human skin cells. nNIR enhanced ATP and collagen synthesis while reducing ROS levels, outperforming the commonly used 2chip LEDs. In the UV-induced photoaging mouse model, nNIR irradiation led to reduced skin thickness, increased collagen synthesis, and lowered collagenase expression. Additionally, nNIR irradiation stimulated hair growth, augmented skin thickness, and increased hair follicle count. In conclusion, the study highlighted positive effects of White and nNIR irradiation on skin and hair growth. However, nNIR exhibited superior outcomes compared to White. Its advancements in ATP content, collagen synthesis, collagenase inhibition, and hair growth promotion imply increased ATP synthesis activity. Liver transplantation is a highly complex and challenging field of clinical practice. Although it was originally developed in western countries, it has been further advanced in Asian countries through the use of living donor liver transplantation. This method of transplantation is the only available option in many countries in the Asia-Pacific region due to the lack of deceased organ donation. As a result of this clinical situation, there is a growing need for guidelines that are specific to the Asia-Pacific region. These guidelines provide comprehensive recommendations for evidence-based management throughout the entire process of liver transplantation, covering both deceased and living donor liver transplantation. In addition, the development of these guidelines has been a collaborative effort between medical professionals from various countries in the region. Several investigations and recalls have demonstrated that Listeria monocytogenes can occur on mushrooms. This study aimed to assess the microbiological quality and safety of four types of edible mushrooms (Flammulina velutipes, Pleurotus ostreatus, Pleurotus eryngii, and Agaricus bisporus) available in the Korean market, and to evaluate the prevalence of Listeria spp., including L. monocytogenes. Results revealed that out of 100 samples tested, 16% (32/200) were positive for Listeria spp. Of the Listeria-positive samples, five strains of Listeria innocua were detected. The total microbial counts ranged from 0.79 to 5.84 log CFU/g, with F. velutipes exhibiting the highest microbial load (mean 5.03 log CFU/g).
