The global obesity problem is becoming increasingly serious, with eight of the top ten causes of death in Taiwan in 2020 being related to obesity. Morbid obesity poses a significant threat to one’s health and well-being. In recent years, bariatric surgery has emerged as a more effective treatment option for patients with morbid obesity. However, the procedure is not without risks. This study aims to examine the factors that impact the postoperative efficacy evaluation of patients with morbid obesity. This study uses a retrospective cross-sectional design, with medical records being collected retrospectively. The data was collected from patients who underwent bariatric surgery between July 1, 2017 and June 30, 2020 at a hospital in southern Taiwan. A total of 663 patients were included in the study and were observed for 1 year after the surgery. The independent variables included demographic variables, perceived symptoms variables, perceived lifestyle variables, and surgery-related variables, while the dependent variables included weight loss outcomes and complications. The prognostic factors affecting the postoperative efficacy evaluation of patients with pathological obesity were determined using multiple regression analysis and binary regression analysis. The study found that 65.6% of the participants were female, with an average age of 36.8 years. The results of the multiple regression and binary logistic regression showed that gender, age, BMI, diabetes, and smoking habit were the predictors of postoperative weight loss. Hypertension, diabetes, liver disease, kidney disease, smoking habit, drinking habit, and operation time were the predictors of postoperative complications. The study found that the presence of the aforementioned 12 significant factors can affect the success of weight loss after surgery and the incidence of postoperative complications. Osteoporosis is usually caused by excessive bone resorption and energy metabolism plays a critical role in the development of osteoporosis. However, little is known about the role of energy metabolism-related genes in osteoporosis. This study aimed to explore the important energy metabolism-related genes involved in the development of osteoporosis and develop a diagnosis signature for osteoporosis. The GSE56814, GSE62402, and GSE7158 datasets were downloaded from the NCBI Gene Expression Omnibus. The intersection of differentially expressed genes between high and low levels of body mineral density (BMD) and genes related to energy metabolism were screened as differentially expressed energy metabolism genes (DE-EMGs). Subsequently, a DE-EMG-based diagnostic model was constructed and differential expression of genes in the model was validated by RT-qPCR. Furthermore, a receiver operating characteristic curve and nomogram model were constructed to evaluate the predictive ability of the diagnostic model. Finally, the immune cell types in the merged samples and networks associated with the selected optimal DE-EMGs were constructed. A total of 72 overlapped genes were selected as DE-EMGs, and a five DE-EMG based diagnostic model consisting B4GALT4, ADH4, ACAD11, B4GALT2, and PPP1R3C was established. The areas under the curve of the five genes in the merged training dataset and B4GALT2 in the validation dataset were 0.784 and 0.790, respectively. Moreover, good prognostic prediction ability was observed using the nomogram model (C index = 0.9201; P = 5.507e−14). Significant differences were observed in five immune cell types between the high- and low-BMD groups. These included central memory, effector memory, and activated CD8 T cells, as well as regulatory T cells and activated B cells. A network related to DE-EMGs was constructed, including hsa-miR-23b-3p, DANCR, 17 small-molecule drugs, and two Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes pathways, including metabolic pathways and pyruvate metabolism. Our findings highlighted the important roles of DE-EMGs in the development of osteoporosis. Health technology assessment (HTA) is a multidisciplinary process that determines the value of health technology at different points in its lifecycle. Safety issues have become more important since regulatory authorities are increasingly adopting flexible standards, processes, and evidentiary requirements for drug approval. In this article, we compared the different role of regulatory authorities and HTA agencies. Additionally, the experience of regulatory-HTA collaboration for assessment and/or decision-making on safety issues in the lifecycle of a health technology is illustrated, including olmesartan (angiotensin II receptor antagonist) and the direct-acting hepatitis C virus (HCV) antiviral agents. Post-licensing data can be derived from various sources such as electronic health records, medical claims, drug and disease registries, post-authorization safety studies (PASS) or post-authorization safety efficacy studies (PAES), periodic benefit–risk assessment reports, as well as HTA reassessment reports, which incorporate utilization information from patients in a real-world setting and provide crucial evidence for various purposes. With the ongoing accumulation of safety and efficacy information during post-regulatory approval, a standardized process for continuous data collection and active reassessment of risk and benefit becomes crucial for managing the lifecycle of health technologies. In order to define evidence requirements clearly, reduce uncertainty, and minimize delays in HTA approval, early engagement and collaboration of HTA agencies in the regulatory review processes have become more common. However, there is currently limited interaction and collaboration between regulatory authorities and HTA agencies. This article aims to identify the challenges faced by regulators and HTA agencies today, emphasizing the significance of conducting regulatory reviews and health technology assessments throughout a technology's lifecycle, underlining the value of utilizing real-world data and evidence, and emphasizing the necessity of enhancing collaboration between regulatory authorities and HTA agencies, all within the overarching context of drug safety. Evidence regarding the association between dietary niacin intake and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is limited. Our study investigates the relationship between dietary niacin intake and the prevalance and incidence of COPD in the adult population of the United States, using data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) from 2003 to 2018. Data on niacin intake were extracted through dietary intake interviews. COPD diagnoses were based on lung function, medical history, and medication usage. We analyzed the association between niacin consumption and COPD using multiple logistic regression and restricted cubic spline models. The study included 7055 adult participants, divided into COPD (n = 243; 3.44%) and non-COPD (n = 6812; 96.56%) groups. Those with COPD had lower average niacin intake (21.39 ± 0.62 mg/day) compared to the non-COPD group (25.29 ± 0.23 mg/day, p < 0.001). In the adjusted multivariable model, the odds ratios (OR) and 95% confidence intervals (CI) for COPD in the highest versus lowest quartile of dietary niacin intake were 0.55 (0.33 to 0.89, P for trend = 0.009). Subgroup analysis, after adjustment for various variables, revealed no significant interaction effects. Dietary niacin intake was inversely associated with COPD prevalence in US adults. Participants with the highest dietary niacin intake demonstrated the lowest odds of COPD. While different patterns of perceived parenting discrepancy among mother-adolescent dyads have been shown to be associated with adolescent internalizing symptoms, little is known about the pathway underlying such associations, particularly among immigrant families. The current study considered one culturally salient form of mother-adolescent communication, language brokering (i.e., adolescents translating and interpreting between host and heritage languages for mothers), in order to investigate its mediating role based on two waves of longitudinal data on Mexican-origin immigrant families. Wave 1 included 604 adolescents (54% female; Mage = 12.92, SD = 0.92) and 595 mothers (Mage = 38.89, SD = 5.74); Wave 2 was collected one year later with data from 483 adolescents. Perceived parenting discrepancy patterns at Wave 1 were captured by three profiles based on the levels of both mothers' and adolescents' perceived positive parenting (i.e., Mother High, Adolescent High, and Both High). Compared to the other two profiles, adolescents who reported much lower positive parenting than mothers at Wave 1 (i.e., Mother High) experienced more negative feelings about brokering at Wave 2, relating to more anxiety. Being in the Mother High (vs. Both High) group was also directly related to more depressive symptoms one year later. This study highlights the importance of considering culturally salient forms of communication, such as language brokering, when designing family-level interventions to reduce adolescents' internalizing symptoms by building agreement on high positive parenting among mother-adolescent dyads from immigrant families. Purpose: The etiological features of stroke in young adults are different from those in older adults. We aimed to investigate the impact of high-resolution vessel wall imaging (HRVWI) on etiologic diagnosis in young adults with ischemic stroke or transient ischemic attack (TIA). Methods: A total of 253 young adults (aged 18–45 years) who consecutively underwent HRVWI for clarifying stroke etiology were retrospectively recruited. Two experienced neurologists classified stroke etiology for each patient using Trial of Org 10,172 in Acute Stroke Treatment categories with and without the inclusion of HRVWI diagnosis. Multivariate logistic regression was performed to determine which etiologic category would be significantly impacted after including HRVWI. Results: The etiologic classification was altered in 39.1% (99/253) of patients after including HRVWI in the conventional investigations. The proportion of patients classified as having stroke of undetermined etiology (SUE) and the proportion of patients classified as having small-artery occlusion (SAO) both significantly decreased (36.4 to 13.8% and 9.1 to 2.0%), whereas the proportion of patients classified as having large artery atherosclerosis (LAA) significantly increased (28.5 to 58.1%) (all P < 0.001). The inclusion of HRVWI had a significant diagnostic impact on young adults who were primarily classified as SAO (odds ratio [OR] 14.4, 95% confidence interval [CI] [2.9, 71.8], P < 0.001) or SUE (OR 8.3, 95% CI [2.2, 31.5], P < 0.01). Conclusions: HRVWI had a substantial impact on etiologic classification in young adults with ischemic stroke or TIA, particularly for those primarily classified as having SAO or SUE. Combined hepatocellular-cholangiocarcinoma (cHCC-CC) is a rare type of primary liver cancer. It is a complex "biphenotypic" tumor type consisting of bipotential hepatic progenitor cells that can differentiate into cholangiocytes subtype and hepatocytes subtype. The prognosis of patients with cHCC-CC is quite poor with its specific and more aggressive nature. Furthermore, there are no definite demographic or clinical features of cHCC-CC, thus a clear preoperative identification and accurate non-invasive imaging diagnostic analysis of cHCC-CC are of great value. In this review, we first summarized the epidemiological features, pathological findings, molecular biological information and serological indicators of cHCC-CC disease. Then we reviewed the important applications of non-invasive imaging modalities-particularly ultrasound (US)-in cHCC-CC, covering both diagnostic and prognostic assessment of patients with cHCC-CC. Purpose: Programmed death ligand 1(PD-L1)/programmed cell death-1(PD-1) inhibitors have shown promising efficacy in unresectable patients with advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), but the results are not consistent. Our goal was to evaluate the safety and efficacy of PD-L1/PD-1 inhibitors or plus anti-CTLA-4 antibody or anti-VEGF agents for the treatment of unresectable HCC. Methods: Cochrane library, Embase, and PubMed were searched till August 2021. Data on progression-free survival (PFS), objective response rate (ORR), overall survival (OS), and disease control rate (DCR) were pooled and analyzed by Stata14 software. Results: Thirteen prospective trials with 2,386 HCC patients were included. Pooled analysis estimated an ORR of about 0.21 (95% CI = 0.18–0.25) and a DCR of 0.59 (95% CI = 0.52–0.65) for anti-PD-1/PD-L1 therapy. Summary PFS was 4.19 (95% CI = 3.31–5.18) months and summary OS was 13.23 (95% CI = 12.06–14.41) months. After using PD-L1/PD-1 inhibitors plus anti-VEGF agents, ORR was 0.26 (95% CI = 0.20–0.33), DCR was 0.75 (95% CI = 0.69–0.81) and PFS was 6.2 (95% CI = 4.61–7.78) months. PD-L1/PD-1 inhibitors plus anti-CTLA-4 antibody therapy achieved an ORR of 0.23 (95% CI = 0.14–0.33), an DCR of 0.44 (95% CI = 0.39–0.50) and a PFS of 1.88 (95% CI = 1.51–2.26). Conclusions: PD-L1/PD-1 inhibitors were effective and tolerable in patients with advanced HCC. Furthermore, compared with anti-PD-1/PD-L1 monotherapy, PD-L1/PD-1 inhibitors plus anti-VEGF agents resulted in more clinical improvements in ORR, DCR, and PFS. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Mothers and adolescents often perceive parenting differently, but it is unclear how different profiles of mother-adolescent perceived parenting and developmental transitions of such profiles would influence adolescent academic performance longitudinally. The current study adopted a three-wave dataset of 604 Mexican-origin adolescents (54% female; Mwave1.age = 12.92 years) and 595 mothers. Adolescents who agreed on high levels of positive parenting with their mothers in early adolescence (i.e., the Both High group) and stayed in the Both High group demonstrated the best academic performance in late adolescence. However, adolescents who changed from the Both High group in early adolescence and ended with discrepancies in perceived parenting or an agreement on low positive parenting with mothers in late adolescence had the worst academic performance. The findings suggest the plasticity of mother-adolescent relationships during adolescence, which can be an intervention target to improve Mexican-origin adolescent academic performance. Here, we characterized a new mycovirus from the fungus Nigrospora chinensis, which was named "Nigrospora chinensis victorivirus 1" (NcVV1). The NcVV1 genome is 5283 bp in length, containing two continuous open reading frames (ORFs), ORF1 and ORF2. ORF1 and ORF2 were predicted to encode a putative coat protein (CP) and an RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (RdRp), respectively. The stop codon of ORF1 overlaps with the start codon of ORF2 by the tetranucleotide sequence AUGA. Phylogenetic analysis based on amino acid sequences of RdRp and CP indicated that NcVV1 clustered with members of the genus Victorivirus in the family Totiviridae. Along with the comparator model, the perception of action-outcome regularity is involved in the generation of sense of agency. In addition, the perception of action-outcome regularity is related to motor performance. However, no studies have examined the developmental changes in the perception of action-outcome regularity. The current study measured perceptual sensitivity to action-outcome regularity and manual dexterity in 200 children aged between 5 and 16 years. The results showed that perceptual sensitivity to action-outcome regularity was significantly lower in 5–6-year-old children than in 9–16-year-old children, and that it was significantly lower in children with low manual dexterity than in children with medium to high manual dexterity. Correlation analyses revealed significant correlations of age and perceptual sensitivity to action-outcome regularity, but no significant correlation of manual dexterity and perceptual sensitivity to action-outcome regularity, either overall or in any age band. The present study suggests that perceptual sensitivity to action-outcome regularity is immature at 5–6 years of age and that it may be impaired in 5–16-year-old children with poor manual dexterity. The use of augmented reality (AR) technology in the science curriculum has the potential to assist students in comprehending abstract and complex concepts or unobservable phenomena, as well as to better explain knowledge regarding science content by superimposing virtual objects over genuine items or environments in a multidimensional approach. However, the overall effects on students' academic achievement of using AR technology in scientific courses and the key factors that influence such effects are still unclear. Therefore, we performed a meta-analysis in this work to systematically review 35 empiric trials (with 39 effect sizes) that used experimental or quasi-experimental approaches to determine the academic achievement of using AR techniques in science-related courses. In addition, we explored possible moderators such as differences in disciplines, educational stages, types of AR (marker-based, markerless-based, or location-based), display devices (mobiles, tablets, computers, or headsets), intervention duration, group size, and instructional strategies. The results revealed that the overall mean effect size (with AR into instruction vs without AR into instruction) was 0.737 under the random effects model, indicating a medium-to-large significant positive effect on students' academic achievement. The disciplines had significant moderating effects, types of AR had marginally significant effects, while educational stages, display devices, intervention duration, group size, and strategies used had insignificant influence. We extend the contents of the standard model (SM) by introducing TeV-scale scalar leptoquarks to generate neutrino masses and explain some current observed deviations from the SM predictions, including the anomalous magnetic moments of charged leptons (electron and muon) and B-physics anomalies ( R K (∗) and R D (∗) ). The model consists of SU (2) L singlet leptoquark S 1 ∼ (3 ¯ , 1 , 1 / 3) , doublet leptoquark R ~ 2 ∼ (3 , 2 , 1 / 6) and triplet leptoquark S 3 ∼ (3 ¯ , 3 , 1 / 3) . We combine the constraints arising from the low-energy lepton flavor violation, meson decay and mixing observables. We perform a detailed phenomenological analysis and identify the minimized texture of leptoquark Yukawa matrices to accommodate a unified explanation of the anomalies and neutrino oscillation data. Purpose: To evaluate the embryological and pregnancy outcomes of women who failed in their first IVF treatment if they attempted a second cycle.For evaluating the embryological outcomes, the study cohort included 1,227 women who failed to obtain a live birth after the initial IVF cycle from September 2018 to August 2021 and returned for a second attempt. To evaluate reproductive outcomes including live birth rates (LBRs), 1227 women who returned for a second attempt were compared with 13,195 women undergoing their first oocyte retrieval with blastocyst culture attempted during the same study period.In women who had a second cycle, the median number of oocyte retrieved (11 vs 9), fertilized oocytes (7 vs 5), usable embryos (6 vs 4) and blastocysts (3 vs 1) was higher in the second cycle compared to the first cycle (All p < 0.001). Blastocyst formation rates were significantly increased from 33% in the first cycle to 50% in the second cycle across the age group (p < 0.001). However, the primary transfer LBRs were significantly lower in the second cycle than that in the initial cycle (40.82% versus 51.79%, aOR: 0.74 [0.65, 0.84]). LBRs in the second cycle were 42.26%, 42.68%, 25.49% and 16.22% in women aged < 35, 35–37, 38–40, and > 40 years.There was a notable enhancement in laboratory outcomes following the second attempt in women whose initial IVF cycles were unsuccessful. Pain is a common symptom of an illness. For decades, pain treatments such as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, opioids, and surgical nerve blocking have been widely used, but each method has its limitations. Photobiomodulation is a recently developed method for pain management, with light-emitting diodes (LEDs) being a more recent development used in pain management because of their low cost, low side effects, and high safety. Here, we reviewed the phototherapeutic effects of LEDs on different pain conditions. Strain WGZ8T was isolated from a soil sample of Puerh tea garden in Pu'er city, Southwest China. The isolate was rod-shaped, Gram-stain negative, facultative anaerobic, non-motile. Growth occurred within 0–3.0% (w/v) NaCl (optimal concentration, 0–1.0%), pH 5.0–11.0 (optimal pH, 7.0) and 10–40 °C (optimal temperature, 28 °C). 16S rRNA gene sequence-based phylogenetic and phylogenomic analysis revealed that WGZ8T belonged to the genus Microvirga. Its major cellular fatty acids were C19:0 cyclo ω8c, C16:0, C18:1ω7c and/or C18:1ω6c. The profile of polar lipids included phosphatidyldimethylethanolamine, phosphatidylmonomethylethanolamine, phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylcholine, diphosphatidylglycerol and phosphatidylglycerol. The only respiratory quinone was detected as ubiquinone 10 (Q-10). The genome size of strain WGZ8T was 5.17 MB, and the content of DNA G + C was 61 mol%. Based on the results of digital DNA–DNA hybridization and phenotypic results, strain WGZ8T could be concluded as a novel species of the genus Microvirga, for which the name Microvirga puerhi sp. nov. is proposed. Although Mexican-origin youth with first-generation immigrant parents are relatively good at retaining their heritage language of Spanish, limited research has been conducted on their Spanish language development during adolescence. From three-wave longitudinal data across six years (Nwave1 = 604, Mage.wave1 = 12.91, 54% female), distinct groups of adolescents with consistently high, improved, declined, and consistently low Spanish proficiencies were identified. Family relationship quality was more predictive of adolescents' Spanish proficiency than family language environment. The benefits of Spanish proficiency were consistent across adolescents' ethnic identity, resilience, and life meaning. More research and practical attention to parent–adolescent relationships is needed to capitalize on the continued plasticity of adolescents' Spanish language development and to promote consequent positive outcomes. Cotesia ruficrus (Hymenoptera: Braconidae) is an endoparasitic natural enemy of various Lepidopteran pests, and it plays a significant role in integrated pest management. In the field survey of maize fields, we found for the first time that the indigenous parasitoid C. ruficrus parasitized the major invasive pest Spodoptera frugiperda (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) in China. We identified 18 odorant-binding proteins (CrufOBPs) of C. ruficrus through the RNA-Seq method, and PCR analysis showed that 13 out of the CrufOBPs were highly expressed in antennae. Two CrufOBPs, CrufOBP3 with the highest antennal expression and CrufOBP17 with antenna-specific expression, were selected for protein biosynthesis in the prokaryotic protein expression system and subjected to protein purification. Through fluorescence binding assay, seven maize volatile compounds were selected for the antennal electroantennography (EAG) study, and the results indicated that female C. ruficrus exhibited distinct responses to these volatiles at different concentrations. Octanal and 2-heptanone of 10 mg mL−1 were chosen for olfactory behavioral experiments because of their high EAG responses, and the results showed that C. ruficrus adults were significantly attracted at certain concentrations. Furthermore, in the cage experiments, 10 mg mL−1 of 2-heptanone significantly increased the parasitism rate of C. ruficrus on S. frugiperda. These findings not only provide a theoretical basis for studying the odorant-binding protein family of C. ruficrus but also contribute to the development of novel pest control strategies for this invasive pest management. Self-related stimuli are important cues for people to recognize themselves in the external world and hold a special status in our perceptual system. Self-voice plays an important role in daily social communication and is also a frequent input for self-identification. Although many studies have been conducted on the acoustic features of self-voice, no research has ever examined the spatial aspect, although the spatial perception of voice is important for humans. This study proposes a novel perspective for studying self-voice. We investigated people's distance perception of their own voice when the voice was heard from an external position. Participants heard their own voice from one of four speakers located either 90 or 180 cm from their sitting position, either immediately after uttering a short vowel (i.e., active session) or hearing the replay of their own pronunciation (i.e., replay session). They were then asked to indicate which speaker they heard the voice from. Their voices were either pitch-shifted by ± 4 semitones (i.e., other-voice condition) or unaltered (i.e., self-voice condition). The results of spatial judgment showed that self-voice from the closer speakers was misattributed to that from the speakers further away at a significantly higher proportion than other-voice. This phenomenon was also observed when the participants remained silent and heard prerecorded voices. Additional structural equation modeling using participants' schizotypal scores showed that the effect of self-voice on distance perception was significantly associated with the score of delusional thoughts (Peters Delusion Inventory) and distorted body image (Perceptual Aberration Scale) in the active speaking session but not in the replay session. The findings of this study provide important insights for understanding how people process self-related stimuli when there is a small distortion and how this may be linked to the risk of psychosis. In this paper, two conclusive multiparty quantum state sharing protocols in amplitude damping channel are proposed that, respectively share an arbitrary unknown single-qubit state and single-qutrit state. To achieve this aim, the detailed processes of sharing pure entangled quantum states as quantum channel in amplitude damping channel via entanglement compensation is proposed first. Then, based on the pure entangled quantum state shared among dealer and all agents, the dealer's secret quantum information, i.e., single-qubit state (or single-qutrit state) is split in such a way that it can be probabilistically reconstructed through introducing an auxiliary qubit (or qutrit) and performing appropriate operations provided that all the receivers collaborate together. Through the analysis, we have found that whether in single-qubit or single-qutrit state sharing protocols, the successful probability of receiver recovering the secret quantum information is only determined by the small one among the absolute values of the coefficients characterizing the quantum channel. In addition, through the analysis, it proves that the conclusive multiparty single-qutrit state sharing has higher efficiency than single-qubit state sharing under the same amplitude damping strength. La(OH)3/CaTiO3 composite photocatalyst with a heterjunction structure was synthesized by a facile method of solvothermal procedure. La(OH)3 was dispersed on the surface of CaTiO3 with butterfly-like dendrites. The photocatalytic activity of La(OH)3/CaTiO3 heterostructure was enhanced for methylene blue (MB) degradation under ultraviolet (UV) irradiation. Especially 7La(OH)3/CaTiO3 obtained a highest MB degradation of 95.9%, which is 1.33 times higher than that of pure CaTiO3. The trapping experiment suggested that •OH active radical plays the major role. The enhanced photocatalytic activity over 7La(OH)3/CaTiO3 heterostructure on the degradation of MB is attributed to the butterfly-like dendrites CaTiO3 and the effectively separation of charged carriers. Adaptive motor learning refers to the ability to adjust to novel disturbances in the environment as a way of minimizing sensorimotor errors. It is known that such processes show large individual differences and are linked to multiple perceptual and cognitive processes. On the other hand, the sense of agency refers to the subjective feeling of control during voluntary motor control. Is the sense of agency just a by-product of the control outcome, or is it actually important for motor control and learning? To answer this question, this study takes an approach based on individual differences to investigate the relationship between the sense of agency and learnability in sensorimotor adaptation. Specifically, we use an adaptive motor learning task to measure individual differences in the efficiency of motor learning. Regarding the sense of agency, we measure the perceptual sensitivity of detecting an increase or a decrease in control when the actual level of control gradually increases or decreases, respectively. The results of structure equation modelling reveal a significant influence of perceptual sensitivity to increased control on motor learning efficiency. On the other hand, the link between perceptual sensitivity to decreased control and motor learning is nonsignificant. The results show that the sense of agency in detecting increased control is associated with the actual ability of sensorimotor adaptation: people who are more sensitive in detecting their control in the environment can also more quickly adjust their behaviors to novel disturbances to acquire better control, compared to people who have a less sensitive sense of agency. Prior information about distractor facilitates selective attention to task-relevant items and helps the optimization of oculomotor planning. In the present study, we capitalized on gaze-position decoding to examine the dynamics of attentional deployment in a feature-based attentional task that involved two groups of dots (target/distractor dots) moving toward different directions. In Experiment 1, participants were provided with target cues indicating the moving direction of target dots. The results showed that participants were biased toward the cued direction and tracked the target dots throughout the task period. In Experiment 2 and Experiment 3, participants were provided with cues that informed the moving direction of distractor dots. When the distractor cue varied on a trial-by-trial basis (Experiment 2), participants continuously monitored the distractor's direction. However, when the to-be-ignored distractor direction remained constant (Experiment 3), participants would strategically bias their attention to the distractor's direction before the cue onset to reduce the cost of redeployment of attention between trials and reactively suppress further attraction evoked by distractors during the stimulus-on stage. This functional dissociation reflected the distinct influence that expectation produced on ocular control. Taken together, these results suggest that monitoring the distractor's feature is a prerequisite for feature-based attentional inhibition, and this process is facilitated by the predictability of the distractor's feature. To clarify the phytogeography of Prunus armeniaca L., two chloroplast DNA fragments (trnL-trnF and ycf1) and the nuclear ribosomal DNA internal transcribed spacer (ITS) were employed to assess genetic variation across 12 P. armeniaca populations. The results of cpDNA and ITS sequence data analysis showed a high the level of genetic diversity (cpDNA: HT = 0.499; ITS: HT = 0.876) and a low level of genetic differentiation (cpDNA: FST = 0.1628; ITS: FST = 0.0297) in P. armeniaca. Analysis of molecular variance (AMOVA) revealed that most of the genetic variation in P. armeniaca occurred among individuals within populations. The value of interpopulation differentiation (NST) was significantly higher than the number of substitution types (GST), indicating genealogical structure in P. armeniaca. P. armeniaca shared genotypes with related species and may be associated with them through continuous and extensive gene flow. The haplotypes/genotypes of cultivated apricot populations in Xinjiang, North China, and foreign apricot populations were mixed with large numbers of haplotypes/genotypes of wild apricot populations from the Ili River Valley. The wild apricot populations in the Ili River Valley contained the ancestral haplotypes/genotypes with the highest genetic diversity and were located in an area considered a potential glacial refugium for P. armeniaca. The hybridization of 1,4-bis(isoquinoline)butane (BIQBT2+) cation with iodobismuthate under different solvents produce two isomers α-[(BIQBT)(BiI4)2]n (α-1, in CH3OH/H2O mixed solvent, Triclinic system with P-1 space group) and β-[(BIQBT)(BiI4)2]n (β-1, in CH3OH, Monoclinic system with P21/c space group). The 1-D (BiI4)nn− chains are constructed from the opposite edge-sharing BiI6 octahedra. The (BIQBT)2+ in α-isomer adopts the planar configuration, and that in β-isomer presents the chair-like configuration, as a result, different packing modes (intercalating quasi-3-D mode for α-1 and interlocking 2-D mode for β-1) are observed. Interestingly, from α-1 to β-1, distortion degree of BiI6 octahedron and π–π stacking interaction decrease, but hydrogen bonds number increase. The sense of agency refers to the feeling of control over one's own actions, and through them, the external events. This study examined the effect of modified visual feedback on the sense of agency over one's body movements using virtual reality in healthy individuals whose motor control was disturbed. Participants moved a virtual object using their right hand to trace a trajectory (Experiment 1) or a leading target (Experiment 2). Their motor control was disturbed by a delay in visual feedback (Experiment 1) or a 1-kg weight attached to their wrist (Experiment 2). In the offset conditions, the virtual object was presented at the median point between the desired position and the participants' actual hand position. In both experiments, participants reported improved sense of agency in the offset condition compared to the aligned condition where the visual feedback reflected their actual body movements, despite their motion being less precise in the offset condition. The results show that sense of agency can be enhanced by modifying feedback to motor tasks according to the goal of the task, even when visual feedback is discrepant from the actual body movements. Objective: To reduce the number of biopsies performed on benign breast lesions categorized as BI-RADS 4–5, we investigated the diagnostic performance of combined two-dimensional and three-dimensional shear wave elastography (2D + 3D SWE) with standard breast ultrasonography (US) for the BI-RADS assessment of breast lesions. Methods: A total of 897 breast lesions, categorized as BI-RADS 3–5, were subjected to standard breast US and supplemented by 2D SWE only and 2D + 3D SWE analysis. Based on the malignancy rate of less than 2% for BI-RADS 3, lesions assessed by standard breast US were reclassified with SWE assessment. Results: After standard breast US evaluation, 268 (46.1%) participants underwent benign biopsies in BI-RADS 4–5 lesions. By using separated cutoffs for upstaging BI-RADS 3 at 120 kPa and downstaging BI-RADS 4a at 90 kPa in 2D + 3D SWE reclassification, 123 (21.2%) participants underwent benign biopsy, resulting in a 54.1% reduction (123 versus 268). Conclusion: Combining 2D + 3D SWE with standard breast US for reclassification of BI-RADS lesions may achieve a reduction in benign biopsies in BI-RADS 4–5 lesions without sacrificing sensitivity unacceptably. Clinical relevance statement: Combining 2D + 3D SWE with US effectively reduces benign biopsies in breast lesions with categories 4–5, potentially improving diagnostic accuracy of BI-RADS assessment for patients with breast lesions. A novel quantum steganography scheme is investigated based on efficient embedding algorithm of modified exploiting modification direction in this paper, which embeds two 2 n × 2 n binary images (secret information) into a 2 n × 2 n color image (carrier image). To improve the security of the secret information and enhance the robustness of the proposed scheme, a 2 n × 2 n binary image (secret key) is generated according to the exclusive or operation of two secret images. The secret key acts as the control key of choosing two channels from the carrier image's three channels of R, G and B (i.e., R, G or R, B channels chose as the pixel-group) to hide the secret information. In addition, the effective quantum circuits for investigated quantum steganography scheme are illustrated to better understanding the procedure of embedding algorithm. The experiment results simulated on the classical computer with MATLAB environment, and the numerical analyses demonstrate that the presented algorithm has good performance on imperceptibility and security. The utilization rate of forging materials and the forging process parameters are affected by the shape and size of forgings. The measurement of the shape and size of forgings plays a key role in forging quality and efficiency of industrial production. At present, the laser measurement method is commonly used in forging measurement. The relatively large errors in the laser measurement are mainly caused by the dust at the measurement site, the angular deviation of the object and laser scanner, and the system error of the laser scanner. Therefore, a measurement method of outer diameter of ring forgings based on standard deviation algorithm is presented in this paper. Firstly, after resampling by the standard deviation algorithm, the more accurate data are obtained. Secondly, the good arc feature of the point cloud data is obtained by means of mean filter. Finally, the outer diameter of ring forgings is obtained by using ellipse fitting based on least squares principle. Based on the modified flexible representation of quantum images, a novel quantum image encryption algorithm was proposed in this paper. The encryption process performs Arnold scrambling operation to disturb the quantum image information in spatial domain first. Then, quantum wavelet transforms are employed to decompose the scrambled quantum image into multiscale resolution (i.e., a sequence of subimages) in the frequency domain, which are mainly divided into two parts: the low-frequency component (i.e., the approximation) and high-frequency detail information (i.e., the horizontal details, vertical details and diagonal details in each decomposition level). Following that, Arnold scrambling operations are implemented to encrypt the wavelet coefficients within each subimage in the frequency domain once again. Finally, based on inverse quantum wavelet transforms, the encrypted wavelet coefficients can affect the pixel values of the entire reconstructed quantum images. Due to the fact that all the quantum operations are invertible, the decryption process of the encrypted image is performed in a straightforward manner by reversing all of the quantum operations within quantum image encryption process. The proposed encryption algorithm is simulated on a classical computer with MATLAB environments. Difficult-to-machine material parts with curved surface are widely used in automobile, aviation, and aerospace fields, and the high-speed milling is the preferred processing method. In high-speed milling process of the curved surface parts, the instantaneous cutting amount is continuously changing due to the geometric feature change of the determined curve toolpath. In this way, the actual processing parameters, including cutting depth, cutting speed, and feed per tooth, are also continuously changing along the curve toolpath, which will result in a severe variation of cutting heat that has negative impact on the tool wear and the surface integrity. For TC4 which is a kind of typical difficult-to-machine material, a novel analysis method of cutting heat is proposed by transforming from time-varying variable to constant parameter for the dry milling of TC4 curved surface. As the actual processing parameters have strong correlational relationship with the instantaneous processing parameters, including instantaneous cutting area, maximum effective cutting radius, and maximum undeformed cutting thickness, the correlational relationship between the actual processing parameters and instantaneous processing parameters is established firstly. By means of fine-tuning the allowance for finish machining and regenerating the curve toolpath, the instantaneous processing parameters can be adjusted to be constant, and the transforming from time-varying variable (actual processing parameters, including cutting depth, actual cutting speed, and feed per tooth) to constant parameter (instantaneous processing parameters, including instantaneous cutting area, maximum effective cutting radius, and maximum undeformed cutting thickness) is realized. Finally, a series of milling experiments are carried out based on the regenerated curve toolpath. The results show that the cutting temperature fluctuation in curved surface milling along the regenerated curve toolpath is decreased by at least 75.81% compared with that in traditional curved surface machining, which is closer to the variation tendency of cutting temperature in plane milling. Consequently, the cutting temperature variation can be smoother by maintaining the instantaneous processing parameters constant, which is of great significance to restrain tool wear and improve surface integrity. This study investigated the impact of subway car interior design on passenger evacuation and boarding/alighting efficiency. The usability of pedestrian agent models was verified through real-life experiments. A seven-factor orthogonal simulation experiment was designed, using key geometric features of the subway car interior as variables. The results of the computer simulation showed that the impact of subway car interior design factors on evacuation and boarding/alighting time was not entirely consistent, with seat layout and door width being the most important factors affecting passenger movement. In the evacuation scenario, only the connectivity of the subway car has no effect on evacuation time, while in the boarding and alighting scenario, seat layout, car type, door width, and foyer width all significantly affect boarding and alighting time. Multivariate regression models were established to predict evacuation and boarding/alighting times through design features, which can explain 86.7% and 58.9% of the time variation, respectively. This paper extends the use of graph theory and network science to the study of interregional industry network, trying to identify key industries and basic economic structures of five northwestern provinces in "Silk Road Economic Belt", which is an area that hitherto eluded empirical analysis. From the perspective of industry network, "Silk Road Economic Belt" is regarded as an interregional industry network formed by a set of industries and the relationships between them. In this paper, we study the structure of inter-industry relationships by creating and analyzing an interregional industry network using input–output table. We develop a measure to find the basic substructure of the network and analyze the relationships between industries so as to identify key industries and basic economic structures of some region. We apply this new procedure to the I–O table of five northwestern provinces in "Silk Road Economic Belt". The empirical results reveal that (1) Agricultural and resource-based industries are the key industries for five northwestern provinces; (2) Shaanxi and Xinjiang play a more important role in constructing "silk road economic belt"; (3) It's suggested that the key industries are identified and basic economic structures are revealed by using the method proposed in this paper, which would be difficult to find by only using the original input–output analysis. Background: To investigate prognostic factors in patients with augmented superior rectus transposition (SRT) for sixth nerve palsy.Methods: Thirteen patients who were diagnosed with sixth nerve palsy and underwent augmented SRT between January 2015 and February 2017 in EENT Hospital of Fudan University were reviewed retrospectively. Data including age, sex, etiology of the abducens nerve palsy, degree of pre- and postoperative deviation in the primary position, pre- and postoperative abduction deficit, any induced vertical or torsional deviations, reoperations, and other complications was collected. Patients with undercorrection of SRT surgeries received additional inferior rectus transposition (IRT) surgery.Results: Mean esodeviation in primary position improved from 81.92△ to 30.54△ (p < 0.001) with a 1.54-unit improvement in abduction (p = 0.001). Six patients achieved alignment defined as esodeviation in primary position within 10△ of orthotropia and seven patients were undercorrected after the first SRT surgery. Multivariable linear regression analysis showed that among factors (disease duration, preoperative esodeviation, preoperative abduction deficit), only the degree of preoperative abduction deficit (β = − 13.68) was the prognostic factor for success of SRT surgery. After IRT procedures, the mean esodeviation in primary position improved from 40△ to 8△ (p < 0.01).Conclusion: The degree of preoperative abduction deficit is the prognostic factor for augmented SRT for sixth nerve palsy. Patients with worse abduction deficit have a greater likelihood of needing a secondary operation, and IRT could be a good choice for reoperation after SRT. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Information stored in the memory systems can affect visual search. Previous studies have shown that holding the to-be-ignored features of distractors in working memory (WM) could accelerate target selection. However, such facilitation effect was only observed when the cued to-be-ignored features remained unchanged within an experimental block (i.e., the fixed cue condition). No search benefit was obtained if the to-be-ignored features varied from trial to trial (i.e., the varied cue condition). In the present study, we conducted three behavioral experiments to investigate whether the WM and long-term memory (LTM) representations of the to-be-ignored features could facilitate visual search in the fixed cue (Experiment 1) and varied cue (Experiments 2 and 3) conditions. Given the importance of the processing time of cognitive control in distractor suppression, we divided visual search trials into five quintiles based on their reaction times (RTs) and examined the temporal characteristics of the suppression effect. Results showed that both the WM and LTM representations of the to-be-ignored features could facilitate distractor suppression in the fixed cue condition, and the facilitation effects were evident across the quintiles in the RT distribution. However, in the varied cue condition, the RT benefits of the WM-matched distractors occurred only in the trials with the longest RTs, whereas no advantage of the LTM-matched distractors was observed. These results suggest that the effective WM-guided distractor suppression depends on the availability of cognitive control and the LTM-guided suppression occurs only if sufficient WM resource is accessible by LTM reactivation. This study decomposed the indicator of decoupling of carbon emissions due to fossil energy consumption from economic growth in China via the logarithmic mean Divisia index (LMDI) method to explore key factors influencing decoupling status in different periods. The decoupling indicator was decomposed into energy structure, energy intensity, economic structure, and economic output effects over each period. Decoupling varied due to changes in economic growth and energy intensity during different periods. The economic output effect significantly enhanced decoupling, while the energy intensity effect greatly decreased decoupling. The energy structure and economic structure effects had slight impacts on decoupling. A comparative analysis across different sectors and industrial subsectors revealed that industrial growth determined the status of decoupling of carbon emissions from economic growth in China. In terms of industrial subsectors, the major sources of carbon emissions were electricity, steam, and water production and other energy-intensive subsectors. The energy-intensive subsectors, such as coal mining and washing, petroleum and natural gas exploitation, and chemical manufacture, had great effects on the decoupling of carbon emissions, whereas non-energy-intensive subsectors, such as instruments, meters, cultural and office machinery, and ordinary equipment manufacture, had relatively slight impacts on the decoupling. The present article aimed at exploring the effect of corruption perception on political participation and the moderating role of life satisfaction on this relationship. To accomplish these objectives, we collected both survey and experimental data. In Study 1, corruption perception, life satisfaction, and political participation were all measured using self-report scales. The results indicated that corruption perception was negatively associated with political participation, and that life satisfaction moderated the relationship between corruption perception and political participation. In Study 2, corruption perception was manipulated by placing respondents in either a high-corruption or a low-corruption condition with subliminal priming. Compared with the high-corruption condition, the respondents primed by the low-corruption condition reported greater political participation. Furthermore, corruption perception hampered political participation only when life satisfaction was low. The results of the two studies confirmed that corruption perception attenuated political participation and that life satisfaction served as an appraisal buffer to alleviate this effect. To discover bacteria with potential biocontrol activity against the rice sheath blight (RSB) pathogen, Rhizoctonia solani, cowdung (CD) associated bacteria were screened for antifungal activity a dual-culture method. Five potential biocontrol bacteria were identified to species-level based on their colony morphology, physiology, biochemical characteristics, utilization of carbon sources, micromorphology and 16S rRNA sequences. The ability of two selected strains to inhibit RSB was evaluated in vivo and in vitro. The median effective concentration (EC) of crude extract from Streptomyces cochorusii strain NF0919 (NF0919) culture filtrate was 1.3 μg ml, lower than the EC of Jinggangmycin (a commercial antifungal agent widely used in China). At a concentration of 25.0 μg ml, the crude extract completely inhibited mycelial growth of R. solani. The field biocontrol efficacy after spraying 7 days in 2013 and in 2014 was 78.4 and 98.1% with crude extract from NF0919 culture filtrate and 71.1 and 94.2% with fresh cells of Bacillus amyloliquefaciens strain SB177 (SB177). Results from the 2-year field experiment suggested that the crude extract from NF0919 culture filtrate or fresh cells of SB177 provided better disease control than other fungicides (Jinggangmycin and/or Kresoxim-methyl). S. cochorusii strain NF0919 and B. amyloliquefaciens strain SB177 have good potential for field application and commercial use against the RSB pathogen. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Enterovirus 71 (EV71) is considered one of the most virulent pathogens in the family Picornaviridae. However, there have been no effective treatments for the severe complications caused by EV71. Development of new drugs against targets that are essential for viral replication often requires screening large collections of compounds, for which a high-throughput screening platform is needed. In this study, a drug-screening platform was developed based on a genetically engineered cell line that displays fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) and shows a real-time and quantifiable impairment of FRET upon EV71 infection. A library of small molecules consisting of 1280 compounds with defined bioactivities was used for screening drugs with anti-EV71 activity; accurate, rapid, and robust results were obtained from this screening procedure. Ten drugs were identified in the primary screening, and their antiviral activities were indicated by dose-dependent elevation of FRET. Among these, AC-93253, mitoxantrone and N-bromoacetamide had not been reported as enterovirus inhibitors, and it was confirmed that they were able to suppress viral yields in a dose-dependent manner. Taken together, these studies demonstrate the feasibility of this FRET-based platform for efficient screening and identification of novel compounds with activity against EV71 infection. The concept of fluid 'yield' is important but controversial since it was proposed. Traditionally, when the applied stress is larger than a critical value, the deforming solid began to show liquid-like behavior. This critical value of stress is named as the 'yield stress,' which is well known to act as the criterion of yield. In this paper, we focused on the yield attributed to thixotropy, which was believed closely related to the micro-structure state of the thixotropic fluid (Bonn and Denn 2009). Instead of the 'yield stress,' a critical state of the micro-structure, which is identified with parameter λ , is defined as a new yield criterion. It was considered that the destruct process of the micro-structure will accelerate, as long as this critical state is achieved. This new yield criterion can be applied to thixotropic materials in both equilibrium and non-equilibrium states. It is consistent with the traditional one, while the thixotropic material is in an equilibrium state. Validation of this new yield criterion is carried out based on the Stokes' second problem of Coussot fluid. When the oscillating period of the boundary wall is long enough to keep the thixotropic fluid in an equilibrium state, the distributions of unyielded regions identified according to the new yield criterion are consistent with those identified according to the traditional criterion. The study aimed to determine the serum level of glucocorticoid-induced tumor necrosis factor receptor family-related protein ligand (GITRL) in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and investigate its clinical significance. GITRL levels were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) in 88 RA patients, 20 osteoarthritis (OA) patients, and 20 healthy controls (HCs). Anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide (anti-CCP) antibodies and rheumatoid factor immunoglobulin G (RF-IgG) were also tested by ELISA. RF-IgM, anti-keratin antibody (AKA), and anti-perinuclear factor (APF) antibodies and the erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), C-reactive protein (CRP), and immunoglobulins were measured by standard laboratory techniques. The disease activity was evaluated by the 28-joint count Disease Activity Score (DAS28). GITRL concentrations were significantly elevated in both serum and synovial fluid (SF) of RA patients. GITRL levels in RA sera were significantly higher than those in matched SFs. Positive correlations were found between serum GITRL levels and inflammation parameters or autoantibody production. GITRL levels are significantly elevated in RA serum and SF and are positively correlated with autoantibody production in RA, suggesting a role of GITRL in the development of RA. In this study, through analysis of the genome of Eleutherococcus senticosus (ES). 228 AP2/ERF genes were identified and classified into 5 groups AP2 (47 genes), ERF (108 genes), RAV (6 genes), DREB (64 genes), and soloist (3 genes). According to the AP2/ERF classification of Arabidopsis thaliana, the ES AP2/ERF proteins were subdivided into 15 groups. The gene structure and motifs of each group of AP2/ERF in ES were highly similar, which confirmed the conservation of AP2/ERF genes. The ES AP2/ERF genes were unevenly distributed on chromosomes, and a total of four pairs of tandem repeats, and 84 co-linear gene pairs were found, so the AP2/ERF genes expanded in a fragment replication manner, and dominated by pure selection during evolution. By analyzing the transcriptome data of ES under different drought stress conditions, 87 AP2/ERF genes with differential expression were obtained, of which 10 genes with highly significant differences were further analyzed and screened for qRT-PCR validation. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report on the AP2/ERF gene of Eleutherococcus senticosus, and the bioinformatics analysis and experimental validation provided valuable information about them, which is of great significance for further research on the molecular mechanisms of ES in response to drought stress. Introduction: Treatment of complex anterior circulation aneurysms with flow diverters (FDs) has become common practice in neurovascular centers. However, this treatment method for posterior circulation aneurysms (PCAs) still remains controversial. Methods: Through searches for reports on the treatment of PCAs with FDs, we conducted a systematic review of the literature on its clinical efficacy and safety using random-effect binomial meta-analysis. Results: We included 14 studies, which reported on a total of 225 PCAs in 220 patients. Procedure-related good outcome rate was 79 % (95 % confidence interval (CI), 72-84), with significantly lower odds among patients with ruptured aneurysms and basilar artery aneurysms. Procedure-related mortality rate was 15 % (95 % CI 10-21), with significantly higher rates among patients with giant aneurysms and basilar artery aneurysms. The rate of complete aneurysm occlusion at 6-month digital subtraction angiography (DSA) was 84 %. Ischemic stroke rate was 11 %. Perforator infarction rate was 7 %. Postoperative subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) rate was 3 %. Intraparenchymal hemorrhage (IPH) rate was 4 %. Conclusions: Flow diverter treatment of PCAs is an effective method, which provides a high rate of complete occlusion at 6-month DSA. However, compared with anterior circulation aneurysms, patients with PCAs are at significantly higher risk of mortality, ischemic stroke and perforator infarction. Our findings indicate that, in most clinical centers, flow diverter treatment of PCAs should be conducted in carefully selected patients with poor natural history and no optimal treatment strategy. MicroRNAs (miRNA) have been implicated in HCV infection. The present study analyzed the effects of let-7g on HCV infection in vitro, in clinical tissue and serum samples. Here, we show that the expression of let-7g in serum and liver tissue is significantly higher in patients with sustained virologic response (SVR). We show that interferon (IFN)/ribavirin (RBV) induces let-7g expression through p38/AP-1 signaling. Overexpression of let-7g reduced HCV gene or core protein level and inhibited the HCV viral load. The let-7g and IFN/RBV have additively inhibitory effect on HCV replication. These data implicate let-7g as a new therapeutic drug to additively cooperate with IFN/RBV to repress HCV replication. Autoimmune hemolytic anemia (AIHA) is an uncommon but clinically significant disorder in primary Sjögren's syndrome (pSS). Among 565 pSS patients hospitalized in Peking University People's Hospital from January 2000 to March 2013, 16 patients were diagnosed with AIHA (2.8 % prevalence). AIHA presented at the onset of pSS without overt sicca symptoms in 3 of the 16 patients. Primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC) was more prevalent in the patients with SS-AIHA than in those without ( p = 0.007). Edema, fever, and liver involvement occurred significantly more frequently in pSS patients with AIHA than those without AIHA ( p = 0.035, p = 0.029, p = 0.024, respectively). The pSS patients with AIHA were more vulnerable to leukopenia and thrombocytopenia than those without AIHA ( p = 0.004 and p = 0.001, respectively). Additionally, the levels of complement component 3 (C3) and complement component 4 (C4) were significantly lower in the SS-AIHA group ( p = 0.008 and p = 0.037, respectively). Taken together, our results indicate that pSS should be considered in the differential diagnosis of AIHA, even in the absence of sicca symptoms. A heterogeneous treatment response and prognosis exists among patients with Ann Arbor stage I natural killer/T-cell lymphoma (NKTCL), and further risk stratification is required to identify high-risk patients. Here, we assessed the extent of local tumor invasion (LTI) in 185 patients with Ann Arbor stage I primary nasal NKTCL and proposed a novel four-level T staging system. We found that a more advanced T stage was associated with a significantly lower rate of complete remission (CR) after chemotherapy and a marginally lower rate of CR after radiotherapy. While patients with no LTI (T) or mild LTI (T) presented with similar 5-year overall survival (OS; 83.6 % vs. 86.0 %, P = 0.990), those with moderately or highly advanced local disease (T or T) had significantly worse survival (5-year OS was 63.3 % and 35.1 %, respectively). A more advanced T stage (T or T) was an independent prognostic factor for both OS and progression-free survival (PFS) in the Cox regression model. In addition, patients with T or T disease experienced locoregional failure more frequently than those with T or T disease, and patients with T disease had a significantly higher risk of distant failure. Our data demonstrated that the T staging system, based on the extent of LTI, could serve as an effective clinical parameter for further risk stratification among patients with primary nasal Ann Arbor stage I NKTCL.
