The interactive effects of obesity and physical inactivity on lipid metabolism and prevalent dyslipidemia are scarcely reported in rural regions. 39029 subjects were obtained from the Henan Rural Cohort, and their metabolic equivalents (METs) of physical activity (PA) were computed. Independent associations of the obesity indices and PA with either lipid indices or prevalent dyslipidemia were analyzed by generalized linear models, and additive effects of obesity and PA on prevalent dyslipidemia were further quantified. Each obesity index was positively associated with total cholesterol, triglyceride, low-density lipoprotein or prevalent dyslipidemia but negatively associated with high-density lipoprotein, whereas the opposite association of PA with either each lipid index or prevalent dyslipidemia was observed. Joint association of PA and each obesity index with each lipid index and prevalent dyslipidemia was observed. Retinol-binding protein 4 (RBP4) was controversially associated with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). This meta-analysis aimed at evaluating the association between RBP4 level and T2DM risk. MEDLINE and EMBASE were searched to identify relevant studies up to 3 December 2022. Random effects model was used to pool multivariate-adjusted odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs). Publication bias was estimated by Funnel plot and Egger's test, it was considered to be significant when P < 0.05. Eight studies including 8087 participants were finally included. Compared to those with the lowest level, subjects with the highest level of RBP4 have a higher risk of T2DM (OR = 1.47, 95% CI: 1.16–1.78, P < 0.001, I2 = 86.9%). No publication bias among the included studies was found (t = 0.94, P = 0.377). This meta-analysis indicated that high RBP4 level was associated with increasing risk of T2DM. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Gradients across socioeconomic status occur for many children's health and improvement in high-income countries. The objective is to explore infant growth and child development in four developed countries around the socioeconomic landscape. In this paper, Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) enhances the socioeconomic status gradients for the child's developmental health. The proposed model develops the socioeconomic status is related to a huge list of health issues, including low birth weight, cardiovascular diseases, hypertension, arthritis, diabetes, and cancer, regardless of whether it is determined by income, education, or profession. This is a global phenomenon, seen in countries with low, medium, and high incomes. The size of disparities found in scores and percentiles across neighborhoods is comparable to the results of more developed growth forecasters such as sex. Probiotic intervention has beneficial effects on host brain function and behavior via regulating microbiota-gut-brain axis; however, the underlying mechanism is not yet understood. Herein, we investigated that the effects of Lactobacillus plantarum DP189 (DP189) administration in preventing cognitive dysfunction and pathology of Alzheimer's disease (AD) in D-galactose (D-gal) and AlCl3-induced AD model mice. After L. plantarum DP189 intervention for 10 weeks, we assessed cognitive behavior, neurotransmitter expression, histological changes, microbial communities, and the mechanisms underlying the disease in AD model mice. The results showed that L. plantarum DP189 intervention prevented cognitive dysfunction by behavioral test. Increased levels of serotonin, dopamine, and gamma-aminobutyric acid positively affected the pathological processes by ameliorating neuronal damage, beta-amyloid deposition, and tau pathology. L. plantarum DP189 intervention simultaneously modulated the gut microbial communities to alleviate gut dysbiosis. Moreover, L. plantarum DP189 inhibited tau hyperphosphorylation by regulating the PI3 K/Akt/GSK-3β pathway. A novel and facile copper-catalyzed methylation of sulfonamides was herein demonstrated. The practical transformation took place readily under the oxidative conditions, and N-methyl amides (23 examples) were successfully furnished in high efficiency (up to 90% yields). A straightforward arylation of phosphorylamides with arylhydrazines hydrochloride was herein demonstrated. The protocol proceeded in the presence of a catalytic loading of Cu(OAc)2 as the catalyst, DTBP as the external oxidant and Cs2CO3 as the base, but without any ligands. And a series of N-aryl phosphorylamides were successfully obtained in high efficiency (up to 93% yields) with good substituents compatibility (up to 30 examples). Real-time tool tracking in minimally invasive-surgery (MIS) has numerous applications for computer-assisted interventions (CAIs). Visual tracking approaches are a promising solution to real-time surgical tool tracking, however, many approaches may fail to complete tracking when the tracker suffers from issues such as motion blur, adverse lighting, specular reflections, shadows, and occlusions. We propose an automatic real-time method for two-dimensional tool detection and tracking based on a spatial transformer network (STN) and spatio-temporal context (STC). Our method exploits both the ability of a convolutional neural network (CNN) with an in-house trained STN and STC to accurately locate the tool at high speed. Then we compared our method experimentally with other four general of CAIs' visual tracking methods using eight existing online and in-house datasets, covering both in vivo abdominal, cardiac and retinal clinical cases in which different surgical instruments were employed. The experiments demonstrate that our method achieved great performance with respect to the accuracy and the speed. It can track a surgical tool without labels in real time in the most challenging of cases, with an accuracy that is equal to and sometimes surpasses most state-of-the-art tracking algorithms. A Pd(II)-catalyzed desulfitative arylation protocol between sulfonamides and sodium arylsulfinates was herein reported. The direct arylation reaction was successfully achieved by a Pd(II)/Ag(I)-mediated system without participation of any external ligands with a release of SO2. A copper-catalyzed methodology for the preparations ofN-aroylated sulfoximines from methylarenes was herein demonstrated. The transformation proceeded with the assistance of external oxidanttert-butyl hydroperoxide, requiring for no additional solvents or ligands. The good compatibility and high efficiency of the newly developed protocol were well described by 21 examples and up to 91% yields. Background: Worldwide propagation of minimally invasive surgeries (MIS) is hindered by their drawback of indirect observation and manipulation, while monitoring of surgical instruments moving in the operated body required by surgeons is a challenging problem. Tracking of surgical instruments by vision-based methods is quite lucrative, due to its flexible implementation via software-based control with no need to modify instruments or surgical workflow. Methods: A MIS instrument is conventionally split into a shaft and end-effector portions, while a 2D/3D tracking-by-detection framework is proposed, which performs the shaft tracking followed by the end-effector one. The former portion is described by line features via the RANSAC scheme, while the latter is depicted by special image features based on deep learning through a well-trained convolutional neural network. Results: The method verification in 2D and 3D formulation is performed through the experiments on ex-vivo video sequences, while qualitative validation on in-vivo video sequences is obtained. Conclusion: The proposed method provides robust and accurate tracking, which is confirmed by the experimental results: its 3D performance in ex-vivo video sequences exceeds those of the available state-of -the-art methods. Moreover, the experiments on in-vivo sequences demonstrate that the proposed method can tackle the difficult condition of tracking with unknown camera parameters. Industrial wood is typically dried artificially after felling. The drying process is often very lengthy and consumes a large amount of energy, however, and inappropriate drying schedule can cause defects in the wood. Pretreatments such as ultrasound show the potential to reduce wood drying time without impacting quality. This study investigated the influence of ultrasound pretreatment on vacuum drying behavior, hydroxyl content, and microstructural properties of fast-growing wood samples. Pretreatments were performed at ultrasound intensity of 10 W cm−2and frequencies of 28 and 40 kHz, respectively, for 30, 60, and 90 min, respectively, then pretreated samples were dried at 40°C temperature under absolute pressure of 0.08 MPa. Results showed that ultrasound pretreatment did shorten the wood vacuum drying time, increase effective water diffusivity, open water channels, decompose wood extractives, and decrease hydroxyl content. An efficient hetero-cross-dehydrogenative-coupling (hetero-CDC) reaction betweenN-protected indoles and phosphites to 2-indolyphosphites is described. The regioselective methodology took place in the presence of photo redox catalyst Ru(bpy)3(PF6)2combined with oxygen as an clean oxidant when exposed to visible light, furnishing the 2-indolyphosphites as the exclusive products in moderate to good yields with good functional group tolerance.
