The article discusses a research study which characterized the morphological and cytochemical aspects of thrombocytes and leukocytes in hatchlings of three species of fresh water turtles from the lower Purus River, Amazonas State, Brazil. The three species used in the study were the Podocnemis expansa, Podocnemis unifilis and Podocnemis sextuberculata. Findings showed that the thrombocytes of these species were round shaped cells, which can also be oval occasionally.

The article describes the case of a two-year-old female common Myna or Acridotheres tristis which presented with abdominal swelling and lethargy. According to the owner, the bird's cage fell from a height of two meters six days prior to admission. Particular focus is given to the results of the bird's physical examination. The bird was prepared for operation following a ventral abdominal hernia diagnosis. Diet modification and decreased exercise and activity were included in the bird's postoperative management.
